Former Missouri Dem lawmaker, retired officer blasts Warren for tweet claiming Michael Brown was murdered

A former Missouri police officer and Democratic state lawmaker pushed back Monday on Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., after the top presidential contender tweeted that Michael Brown had been “murdered by a white police officer” five years ago in the city of Ferguson.

Roorda, who now heads the St. Louis Police Officers Association, called Warren’s comments “offensive to every police officer in America.”

“Senator Warren is clinging to this false narrative. There’s no reason to do that other than that it pays electoral dividends,” former State Rep. Jeff Roorda told “Fox & Friends.”

Warren commemorated the five-year anniversary of Brown’s death by writing on Twitter: “5 years ago Michael Brown was murdered by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri. Michael was unarmed yet he was shot 6 times. I stand with activists and organizers who continue the fight for justice for Michael. We must confront systemic racism and police violence head on.”

The fatal shooting of Brown, 18, by police officer Darren Wilson sparked mass protests in Ferguson and the creation of the Black Lives Matter movement. Both a Missouri grand jury and the Obama Justice Department later declined to bring charges against Wilson, who had testified that he acted in self-defense.

The DOJ report stated that there was “no credible evidence that Wilson willfully shot Brown as he was attempting to surrender or was otherwise not posing a threat.” Roorda said that Warren is “pandering” to her supporters by continuing to claim Brown was murdered.

MOTHER OF MICHAEL BROWN LOSES BID FOR PUBLIC OFFICE IN FERGUSON, MO.

He went on to say, “I don’t know what good purpose is served by extending this narrative that the Justice Department, the grand jury rejected flatly. Darren Wilson was acting in self-defense.”

“It’s really exhausting. I mean, we keep dealing, addressing the fantasy of this situation instead of the reality and we just can’t make any progress under those circumstances,” he said.

Roorda said that “villainizing” law enforcement is used by Democrats to get votes from minority communities. He argued that they’re only listening to protesters and excluding communities that want safety.

He added: “Hillary Clinton lost the election to President Trump the minute that she paraded the mothers of the movement out of the stage at the Democratic National Convention. And if folks in my party don’t figure out that this tired false narrative turns off voters then they’re never going to get the White House back.”

Eight mothers associated with the Black Lives Matter movement were invited to the Democratic National Convention in 2016.

An L.A. driver may have invented the best traffic hack ever

A driver in Los Angeles has turned to a unique type of sign language to deal with the city’s notorious traffic.

The unidentified Lexus driver was spotted last week in Culver City holding a sign out of the window that said “Please let me in,” as the turn signal indicated a lane change.

The unique method was caught on camera and posted to YouTube by the driver of the car behind him, who wrote, “Saw this man with a 300000 IQ switching lanes.”

After being let over, the Lexus driver then stepped things up a notch by holding a “Thanks” sign out the window.

Apparently, a turn signal just isn’t effective or polite enough these days, but none of this may be needed in the future.

An important element in bringing autonomous cars to fruition on a mass scale is the development of a vehicle-to-vehicle communication system, where all of the self-driving vehicles will be able to talk to each other wirelessly to better coordinate maneuvers without running into each other.

In fact, some of the latest Mercedes-Benz models are already equipped with a simple version of this system that can monitor the traffic and road conditions and transmit the information to other cars in the area, alerting their drivers thorough the infotainment system.

It currently only works among compatible Mercedes-Benz vehicles, however, so you may not want to throw out the Sharpie and cardboard just yet.

Jaybirds caught fighting over lunch in stunning pics

This gives new meaning to the phrase, “This one’s for the birds.”

An amateur photographer from Scotland has captured incredible pictures of two jaybirds fighting over food.

Phil Clark, a 40-year-old bus driver from Inverness, said he waited seven hours to capture the remarkable photos at a bird hide in Kirkcudbright, Dumfries and Galloway, SWNS reports.

“You don’t always see jays there because they are very intelligent and shy,” Clark said of the pictures taken on Aug. 3. “To see two of them fighting for food was extremely uncommon. They are quite territorial. They are vocal and they shout once they see another bird coming.”

Clark added that he thinks the squabble was one of the birds telling the other it should not go near its food.

According to Animal Diversity, Eurasian jays (which reside in Western Europe, Northeast Africa and parts of Asia) have a diet that largely consists of acorns. It’s also supplemented with fruit, grains and some insects.

“It was amazing to see them fighting,” Clark said, noting he had seen the birds before but had not been able to snap an image. “To get an action shot of them fighting was just something else.”

A Chicago police officer was under investigation Monday after apparently giving former pro wrestler Hulk Hogan an exclusive ride to the airport — in his squad car with sirens on while on duty.

The officer, who has not been publicly identified, transported Hogan, 66, his manager and another person, who filmed the incident, in his police vehicle along the tarmac of O’Hare International Airport, according to a video Hogan posted to Facebook Live Aug. 2.

“My Uber’s got sirens!” Hogan is heard saying in the video, as the cameraman says, “We love Chicago PD.”

“Chicago PD for life,” Hogan reiterates, before thanking the officer for their ride. “Don’t get in trouble doing this,” Hogan’s manager, Jimmy Hart, says in the clip.

In the video, which has since been deleted but was published by the Chicago Tribune, the officer can be heard saying his sergeant “is all for” giving Hogan a ride — which was apparently inaccurate.

Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesperson for the Chicago Police Department, told Fox News in a statement Monday that the ride was “not authorized by the department,” and Cmdr. Thomas O’Brien, of airport operations, “had no knowledge that it was taking place.”

“The video came to the attention of the superintendents office this week and it is of significant concern. An internal affairs investigation has been opened into the officer and supervisors at the airport,” Guglielmi said. “We are in the process of revoking credentials for the officer to operate a vehicle on airport grounds pending the investigation.”

Curious orca surprises fishermen, swims alongside boat in amazing video: ‘Awesome day on the water’

This orca is ready for its close-up.

A group of fishermen were out looking for Yellowtail off the coast of San Diego when a curious orca broke off from its pod and swam over to the boat.

In footage shared on social media by fisherman Nathan Benge, a large killer whale is seen performing belly rolls while swimming behind, and next to, the 21-foot fishing boat.

WARNING: Footage contains graphic language:

“Out of nowhere one of them popped up right next to the boat three or four feet away from me,” Benge said to Good Morning America. “[It] landed, splashed me and splashed the whole side of the boat. I screamed.”

“I mean I could have reached out and touched it,” he said.

According to Benge, the orca followed the boat for about 10 minutes before swimming back to its pod.

Olive Garden offering Lifetime Pasta Passes, but only for 50 diners willing to fork over enough dough

Imagine never paying for another bowl of Cavatappi with Five Cheese Marinara ever again.

That is, in fact, a reality for 50 lucky Olive Garden fans, as the restaurant chain has announced plans to offer its very first Lifetime Pasta Passes during this year’s Never Ending Pasta Pass promotion.

“Olive Garden has always been known for Italian Generosity and making everyone feel like family, which is why we introduced our Pasta Pass five years ago,” said Jennifer Arguello, executive vice president of marketing for Olive Garden, in a press release. “With the introduction of our new Lifetime Pasta Pass, we’re excited to be a part of our biggest fans’ memories around the table for years to come.”

The passes, however, will only be available to those fast enough to purchase the original Never Ending Pasta Passes. Here’s how it works: On Aug. 15 at 2 p.m. EST sharp, the original Never Ending Pasta Passes will go on sale at www.PastaPass.com for $100 apiece (plus tax) and only for 30 minutes, or until sold out. The first 50 to complete their transactions will be offered the opportunity to opt-in for the Lifetime Pasta Passes for an additional $400, plus tax.

Those who opted in for the Lifetime passes will be notified if they qualify the following day, at which point they can finish their transactions and start scoping out real-estate listings near their preferred Olive Garden.

“This never-before offered pass will be paid off, on average, by the time you hit your 45th bowl,” the press release estimates.

In 2018, Olive Garden’s limited Annual Pasta Passes, which allows the bearer to a year’s worth of unlimited food, sold out in less than 1 second, per the Daily Meal. ‘The View’ co-host Meghan McCain blasts Elle Magazine: ‘I guess this is why people don’t talk to journalists’

“The View” co-host Meghan McCain blasted Elle Magazine in a series of tweets over an unflattering profile – and McCain’s high-profile friends have come to her defense.

The August 2019 issue of Elle features a cover headline and accompanying profile, “Meghan McCain is having a bad week,” but the conservative pundit feels she is having more than simply a “bad week,” as her father John McCain died this year and she also suffered a devastating miscarriage.

McCain called the headline “particularly sh-tty” and expressed regret for speaking with the women’s magazine.

“I guess this is why people don’t talk to journalists and never tell them anything real,” McCain wrote. “Also, to anyone else who has ever had a bad week (or more) as I have. Don’t let magazines like @ELLEmagazine shame you to be honest & open- never be embarrassed to talk or share grief, pain, real life, struggle.”

THIS IS CNN? PRIMETIME SHOWS FILLED WITH LIBERAL OPINION, NOT STRAIGHT NEWS AS NETWORK CLAIMS

McCain spoke to Elle’s Carrie Battan for the feature that also included a photo shoot. Throughout the piece, Battan wrote that McCain “has the beleaguered disposition of someone who’s searched her name on social media one too many times,” referred to her as “as the bête noire of daytime television,” claimed viewers “think she’s a stubborn, spoiled brat of Veruca Salt proportions” and said “good old-fashioned nepotism” helped boost McCain’s career.

McCain clearly isn’t happy with the finished product and ended her four-tweet message by declaring, “This is a small thing in the scheme of things but I just don’t know why women’s magazines don’t do a better job trying to lift other women up, especially in 2019 (even if you disagree with their politics).”

Elle Magazine did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In the piece, Battan admitted that the interview occurred around the time of McCain’s miscarriage, but says the “The View” co-host didn’t mention it during their interview.

CNN DOES ‘DISSERVICE TO VOTERS’ BY NAMING DON LEMON DEBATE MODERATOR, CRITIC SAYS

“McCain does not reveal this information to me, but children are top of mind because our interview happens around the same time she experiences a miscarriage. Later, she will publish an op-ed in the New York Times about losing a child, again grappling with the career woman vs. mom dichotomy,” Battan wrote.

Some of McCain’s high-profile friends defended her on social media.

CNN’s S.E. Cupp responded simply, “We got you, girl,” while Fox News’ Janice Dean scolded the magazine.

“Wow @ELLEmagazine ‘@MeghanMcCain is having a bad week!’ is your headline on the cover of your magazine after your reporter @cbattan finds out the interview is happening around the same time she is having a miscarriage. Way to support women. Shame on you,” Dean wrote. “The death of her father and of her child would qualify for the worst (insert curse word here) year of her entire life.”

Dean also called the feature, “Upsetting and hateful.”

Fox News’ Julie Banderas said Elle should be ashamed.

“A women’s magazine that trashes women belongs in the trash,” Banderas wrote.

Todd Starnes: Fencer Race Imboden owes America an apology, should be replaced on Team USA

Olympic fencing medalist Race Imboden pitched a childish tantrum and took a knee during the national anthem Team USA’s medal ceremony at the Pan American Games in Peru last Friday.

Imboden was apparently triggered by the rocket’s red glare and suffered a massive outbreak of microaggressions. He later addressed his behavior on Twitter, from the confines of his designated safe space.

“We must call for change,” he declared.

US FENCER TAKES KNEE AT PAN AM GAMES IN PROTEST

Mr. Imboden said he was honored to represent America at the Pan Am games — but faster than Colin Kaepernick could say “Betsy Ross,” the young fencer turned on his native country.

“My pride however has been cut short by the multiple shortcomings of the country I hold so dear to my heart,” he wrote. “Racism, Gun Control, mistreatment of immigrants, and a president who spreads hate are at the top of a long list.”

The 26-year-old member of Team USA defended his unpatriotic protest and called on other athletes to join his cause.

“I chose to sacrifice my moment today at the top of the podium to call attention to issues that I believe need to be addressed,” he said. “I encourage others to please use your platforms for empowerment and change.”

“Every athlete competing at the 2019 Pan American Games commits to terms of eligibility, including to refrain from demonstrations that are political in nature,” spokesman Mark Jones told Associated Press. “In this case, Race didn’t adhere to the commitment he made to the organizing committee and the USOPC,”

Imboden brought shame upon himself, his family, his teammates and most of all — the nation. It was a selfish, disloyal and unpatriotic slap in the face.

At the very least he owes the country an unequivocal apology. Regardless, Imboden must be removed from the team and replaced with a fencer who actually loves the nation he is representing.

“We respect his rights to express his viewpoints, but we are disappointed that he chose not to honor his commitment,” Jones said in the statement. “Our leadership are reviewing what consequences may result.”

Quite frankly, he should’ve been yanked off the platform, stripped of his medal, ordered to turn in his uniform, and instructed to find his own way back to the United States.

Just because an athlete is a perpetually offended millennial snowflake is no excuse to be an unpatriotic jerk.

New York Jets kicker Chandler Catanzaro abruptly announced his retirement from the NFL on Friday after struggling during the preseason opener against the New York Giants.

Catanzaro, 28, signed a one-year $2.3 million contract with the Jets in the offseason. Missing two extra-point attempts Thursday night, however, seemed to be the final nail in the coffin for the kicker.

“When I finished my career at Clemson, playing in the NFL was just a dream,” Catanzaro wrote in an Instagram post. “After five years in the league, it’s time to move on. I can’t say I ever thought I would’ve been a kicker, but I’m thankful that kicking chose me.”

Coach Adam Gase said that Catanzaro came into his office on Friday and said he was finished. According to ESPN, he must return his $500,000 signing bonus to the Jets in accordance with league rules.
