The dogs of Tesla owners can soon chill out.

The automaker has addressed a potentially dangerous design flaw in a feature designed to keep parked car cabins cool when pooches and other pets are left alone in them.

A prominent Tesla owner tweeted to Elon Musk on Wednesday about the issue with “Dog Mode,” which he found would turn the air conditioner off if you manually adjust the fan after engaging it. He said he was alerted to the problem when he checked his Tesla app and saw that the temperature in the vehicle had reached 85 degrees.

Musk responded that Tesla was fixing it, and on Friday an over the air update started rolling out that reconfigures the system so that users are only able to adjust the temperature setting once the mode is activated.

Tesla said it is distributing the update as quickly as it can, and advises owners to connect to Wi-Fi for the most reliable delivery.

Eight Covington Catholic High School students claim they were defamed during a field trip to Washington in January in a lawsuit filed in Kentucky.

The lawsuit seeks damages for alleged defamatory comments by 12 individuals—lawmakers, journalists and social media personalities, Law & Crime reported Friday.

The individuals include presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and New York Times White House correspondent Maggie Haberman.

The field trip drew international headlines after Covington High student Nicholas Sandmann, wearing a MAGA hat, was filmed directly facing a Native American activist near the Lincoln Memorial.

JUDGE DISMISSES COVINGTON STUDENT’S DEFAMATION SUIT AGAINST WASHINGTON POST

Just days ago, a lawsuit Sandmann and his family brought against The Washington Post over its coverage was dismissed by a Kentucky federal judge.

“Several of our Senators, most-famous celebrities, and widely read journalists, collectively used their large social media platforms, perceived higher credibility and public followings to lie and libel minors they never met, based on an event they never witnessed,” the lawsuit said, according to Law & Crime.

“These defendants called for the kids to be named and shamed, doxxed and expelled, and invited public retaliation against these minors from a small town in Kentucky,” the lawsuit said.

An email to Warren’s Senate office seeking comment received no immediate reply.

COVINGTON HIGH STUDENT’S LEGAL TEAM SUES WASHINGTON POST

A New York Times representative told Law & Crime that “Ms. Haberman has not yet been served with this complaint. The lawsuit is entirely without merit and we will vigorously defend it if necessary.”

Law & Crime said the other defendants are Rep. Deb Haaland (D-New Mexico), CNN’s Ana Navarro, comedian Kathy Griffin, ABC News political analyst Matthew Dowd, writer Reza Aslan, Kentucky entrepreneur Adam Edelen, Princeton University History Professor Kevin M. Kruse, activist and journalist Shaun King, Mother Jones editor-in-chief Clara Jeffery and Rewire.News editor-in-chief Jodi Jacobson.

Rewire and Edelen told Law & Crime they had no comment. The website said it was in the process of reaching out to all the defendants.

The eight Covington students are listed in the lawsuit as John Doe plaintiffs.

‘Piece of garbage’: Donald Trump Jr. slams Tom Arnold over lament he and brother Eric haven’t been robbed

Donald Trump Jr. had some strong words for actor Tom Arnold Friday after he lamented that the president’s eldest son and his brother Eric weren’t robbed.

“No we just get daily death threats and exploding packages of white powder sent to our homes you piece of garbage,” Trump Jr. tweeted on Friday.

Their exchange emanated from President Trump’s decision to tweet about an attempted robbery at the home of Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., whose district Trump has criticized as “a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess.”

Trump received backlash from his own former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley as well as Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J. over that tweet. “This is so unnecessary,” Haley tweeted with an eyeroll emoji.

TOM ARNOLD GETS POLITICAL AFTER ACCEPTING GAY PRIDE AWARD, URGES ANTI-TRUMPERS TO SUPPORT PELOSI

Trump’s critics appeared to see his tweet as an attempt to reinforce his argument that Baltimore was a “very dangerous & filthy place.”

Arnold seemed to want to make the issue personal by invoking the president’s sons Eric and Don. “Don Jr’s NYC apartment has not been robbed yet! Eric Trump’s either! Really bad news!!” he tweeted.

More from Media

As Trump Jr. mentioned, he and other members of the Trump family have received numerous threats after his father took the White House. Back in 2018, Trump’s then-wife Vanessa went to the hospital after opening a letter that contained white powder.

Arnold has a long history of anti-Trump activism, calling him “racist” and a “knucklehead,” among other things. The 60-year-old actor also caught headlines when he leaked a phone conversation between him and Trump’s embattled former attorney Michael Cohen.

TOM ARNOLD SAYS ROSEANNE ‘WASN’T RACIST’ WHEN HE WAS WITH HER

At the end of 2018, Arnold revealed that he received a visit from the Secret Service after challenging the president to a fight. Arnold was cooperative with the agents and explained that he understood the ramifications of his posts.

“I did see a crazy reaction to it from people,” Arnold admitted. “I get a lot of death threats. There’s a certain element — I don’t know if they’re bots — I just ignore it … But I also see how they take something and they blow it up like, ‘He is literally threatening to …’ And I find that absurd, but I can see how obviously if people are tweeting … they can call you guys and have you come over. That’s ridiculous, but I understand why you’re here.”

George Hamilton says actors ‘have no qualifications’ to discuss politics, explains why he’s never voted

George Hamilton is reflecting on his long career in Hollywood.

In a candid interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor digs “beneath the tan” and talks about career highlights, waxes poetic about the good old days in Tinseltown and muses about why actors shouldn’t make their political opinions known.

The “Zorro, The Gay Blade” star, who turns 80 this month, revealed he’s never voted in his life and thinks that actors, who are vocal about politics are irresponsible because they “have no qualifications” to speak on issues.

GEORGE HAMILTON NOT AFRAID OF SKIN CANCER, SAYS WOMEN DON’T LIKE MEN WHO KNOW THEY’RE GOOD LOOKING

“They’re given an unusual amount of credibility,” Hamilton says. “A lot of young actors do it and they shouldn’t. The political [people] are happy to use your persona. I think it’s unfair to the voter.”

Though Hamilton does keep a MAGA hat in his living room which he revealed President Trump gifted him at a rally. The actor, who shares mutual Florida friends with Trump, thinks that he’s “a performer in his own mind” and offered his opinion of the state of the president’s complexion.

“I think [Trump] slops bronzer on and hopes it’ll last till the evening — easy to put on, probably a spray tan: less fussy and camera-ready,” Hamilton, who is eternally bronzed, reasoned.

The entertainer, who began his film career in 1958, also looked back fondly on what Hollywood was like decades ago. He’s not an admirer of this new wave of authenticity.

“Everybody has to be ‘real,’ ” he admitted. “That’s not the purpose of being here. It’s invention.”

As he enters into the “final” phase of his life and career, Hamilton feels fulfilled by his colorful life. “It’s not depression,” he said of remembering the past. “It’s melancholy. It’s like the feeling of bubbles in champagne.”

Florida man arrested after writing anti-gay remark on restaurant receipt, stuffing it down manager’s blouse, fleeing scene

One Florida man was recently apprehended by police for writing an anti-gay remark on his waiter’s receipt after dining at a local restaurant, stuffing the bill down the manager’s blouse when confronted, and fleeing the scene.

Last weekend, Frederic Sterry Smith and a female companion finished their meal at Milagro On 12 Latin Kitchen in St. Augustine, Naples Daily News reports, before things quickly took a turn for the worse.

Smith admitted to the deed, yanking the receipt from the manager’s hands before ripping it up, grabbing her collar, pulled her shirt open and shoving “the torn check down her shirt, touching her breast with his hand,” as per the police report.

The manager reportedly screamed that it was an assault, as the aggressor drove away.

Law enforcement officials were contacted, and police tracked down Smith within an hour, the Daily News reports.

More than half of House Democrats on board with Trump impeachment inquiry

A majority of House Democrats now supports launching an impeachment inquiry for President Trump, according to a Fox News tally — the latest sign that Robert Mueller’s shaky testimony did little to arrest the momentum inside the caucus for that politically explosive step.

With fresh support for the inquiry from California Rep. Salud Carbajal, the number of House Democrats in favor reached 118 on Friday. That’s more than half of the 235 House Democrats.

DEMS PURSUE ‘IMPEACHMENT INVESTIGATION’ WITH BID FOR GRAND JURY INFO, INSIST MUELLER DELIVERED

“Our nation has seen and heard things from this president that have no place in our democracy. I believe it is time to open an impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump,” Carbajal tweeted.

Rep. Justin Amash, a Republican-turned-independent, also backs the impeachment push.

For now, the milestone is symbolic. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi remains cool to the idea, insisting Congress proceed with its investigations before considering such a drastic step.

But the rapidly growing number shows that many members are not heeding her calls for patience, and not too concerned that the former special counsel’s testimony last week turned up no new bombshells.

Suggesting they’re driven in large part by the lingering allegations of obstruction, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Eliot Engel, D-N.Y. — one of the most senior members to back an impeachment inquiry — said last week that the president has “abused the power of his office in an effort to stymie a legitimate investigation into his campaign’s involvement with Russia.”

A total of two-dozen lawmakers have endorsed the impeachment inquiry since Mueller’s back-to-back hearings. Those in support include 16 members of the House Judiciary Committee that would lead such an effort.

While confusion hangs over what exactly Democrats are pursuing, several have indicated they see their push as the prelude to a decision on whether to recommend articles of impeachment at the committee level. Some Democrats even said after the Mueller hearings that they were already proceeding with an “impeachment investigation.”

Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., as a next step, filed a petition in D.C. federal court to obtain grand jury materials from the former special counsel’s investigation. The petition claimed that the committee needed the information in order to determine whether to recommend articles of impeachment, in an attempt to give the request more weight in the eyes of the court.

But Nadler has not formally endorsed the impeachment inquiry process, arguing that the committee is essentially already doing the work of impeachment.

“Too much has been made of the phrase impeachment inquiry,” Nadler said, noting the panel’s ongoing probes of the president and his associates.

HOUSE FOREIGN AFFAIRS CHAIR ELIOT ENGEL ANNOUNCES SUPPORT FOR IMPEACHMENT INQUIRY

Trump, meanwhile, declared the Mueller testimony a “bust” while saying nothing will ever be “good enough” for Democrats determined to go after him.

“Robert Mueller’s testimony, and the Mueller Report itself, was a disaster for this illegal Democrat inspired Witch Hunt,” he tweeted afterward.

Mueller stood by his team’s findings at last week’s hearings—reiterating that the special counsel’s office found no evidence of a criminal conspiracy between Trump associates and Russia, while also stating that the president was not exonerated on allegations of obstruction of justice despite his assertions to the contrary.

But in doing so, he also repeatedly refused to drift beyond the bounds of his report. This was, to an extent, expected as Mueller had signaled he would only address material already in the public record.

Meanwhile, Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee have argued that an impeachment inquiry is “not an official thing” and blasted the latest court filing. Committee Ranking Member Doug Collins, R-Ga., said last week that Democrats have “no right” to the grand jury materials to begin with.

“Chairman Nadler’s legal action here is sure to fail, weakening Congress’s ability to conduct oversight now and into the future. If my colleagues want grand jury information, they should propose legislation allowing Congress to access it,” he said in a statement. “Democrats want to convince their base they’re still wedded to impeachment even after [last week’s] hearing, but a baseless legal claim is an odd way to show that.”

But even as his committee proceeds with court filings and their Trump-focused investigation, Nadler has danced around whether Democrats are officially running an impeachment inquiry.

“We have impeachment resolutions before the committee. We are conducting investigations to determine whether we should report those impeachment resolutions to the House or direct our own and report those to the House. We’re considering those resolutions,” Nadler said on ABC’s “This Week” Sunday. “We’ll make a determination after we get more evidence as to the president’s crimes that we had from the Mueller report and also from other things.”

He added: “We’re investigating whether to report — whether to approve articles of impeachment before the committee.”

And despite her public reluctance to proceed with impeachment, Pelosi said she is keeping options open.

“Let’s get sophisticated on this,” she said last week. “We will proceed when we have what we need to proceed–not one day sooner.”

A Michigan man was handed a 60-day prison sentence after he was caught on camera repeatedly poisoning his ex-wife’s morning cup of joe during a bitter divorce.

Brian Kozlowski, 46, was given what prosecutors felt was a “light” punishment after he pleaded no contest in June to spiking his soon-to-be ex-wife’s coffee at the time with diphenhydramine, the primary ingredient in most antihistamines, FOX2 reported.

Therese Kozlowski reportedly told officials that in July 2018, she felt tired, nauseous and was experiencing blurred vision after drinking coffee that her husband had made for her. After repeatedly falling ill, she set up cameras in her kitchen.

BODY OF INDIA’S COFFEE TYCOON FOUND FLOATING IN RIVER BY FISHERMEN

“I watched in horror as he poured himself a cup of coffee, took the blue substance and poured it into the pot,” she said in court on Thursday. “And swirls it around.”

Kozlowski, who filed for divorce in  May 2018, claimed her husband poisoned her on several other occasions with other drugs.

“He loaded me up with Adderall during summer boat trips, put laxatives in my protein powder and now poisoning my coffee.”

She told a judge Thursday that she considered the poisoning “attempted murder.” Despite this, visiting Judge Anthony Viviano ruled against a strong prison sentence, giving Brian Kozlowski 60 days in jail, to be served on weekends.

“The sentence handed down by retired, visiting Judge Antonio Viviano was a slap in the face to the victim and the justice system in general,” Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith said in a statement to FOX2.

“The defendant pleaded guilty to a 15-year felony in June for repeatedly poisoning his wife. The pre-sentence investigation report recommended a sentence of 38 – 180 months, yet the Judge sentenced the defendant to only 60 days, served on weekends.”

Smith called the ruling “troubling.”

Grey’s Anatomy” star Ellen Pompeo caught some serious backlash on social media after she made critical comments about Kamala Harris that some took to be racially charged.

Pompeo tuned in to the second night of debates between the Democratic 2020 presidential hopefuls on Wednesday. The 49-year-old actress responded to a tweet from Bloomberg that highlighted the “emerging trend” of Harris going directly after Joe Biden during these kinds of debates.

“Because she’s overconfident and believes he is her only competition,” Pompeo wrote.

The remark caught immediate and widespread backlash from her followers who derided the comment as racism.

“It’s disappointing that you single out the black woman as “overconfident” when she is actually defending her record against the frontrunner whose campaign has been solely fighting her, calling her “slippery and slick” and other slurs. On that stage Biden was her only competition,” one user wrote.

“Black women are allowed only a certain amount of confidence. must always yield something to whatever white man is around,” another noted.

“Despite your “activism”, you decide that disparaging a woman for doing the same thing other men did tonight was your contribution to the discussion. Disappointing…but not surprising. That 53% has many faces, but I see you,” wrote another user.

“Let me be very clear this was racist,” a more direct user noted.

Later in the night, Pompeo defended her tweet and called the implication that it was racist, “weak.”

“Not sure why my comment is now a racial comment ..so weak.. two people on a stage with a bunch of others they all came off a certain way and they are up there for intreptation [sic]… stop looking for s— to get mad about,” she wrote.

Hannah B. is looking to the future after the shocking finale of “The Bachelorette” aired last month, but that doesn’t mean she’s ready to disappear from the public’s eye.

Brown said while she’s not sure what’s next for her, she plans to use her platform to connect with fans.

“I think there are a lot of opportunities out there for me,” Brown, a 24-year-old former Miss Alabama, told the Associated Press.

“I appreciate the support, but I don’t think that you’re done seeing me, I want to be able to use this platform to talk about what change has happened with me and that’s through the good times and the bad times,” she said, adding that she thinks a lot of women can relate.

She said she’s moved on from Wyatt, but giving up the dream of a future with him was difficult.

Their happiness was short-lived because the day after their engagement she learned he had a girlfriend when he joined the show. Cameras rolled as she confronted him for more information. “It wasn’t necessarily the relationship, it was realizing that it was gonna be different, but that different is OK and that I have a lot to look forward to in my future.”

Couple’s Waffle House-themed wedding cake praised online: ‘Now that is a cake’

Wonder if the cake was syrup-flavored.

A couple took their love for Waffle House to an extreme at their wedding — by having a cake modeled to look like the façade of the restaurant.

Elizabeth and Hayes Rivault shared a photo of the cake from their Saturday wedding on Instagram, where it was picked up and shared by Waffle House.

“I now pronounce you husband, wife, and the best wedding cake there ever was!” the diner chain captioned the adorable picture of the couple.

The two Louisiana State University alumni are seen standing over the cake, made by The Royal Cakery in New Orleans. The cake portion is designed to look like the diner, and then a parking lot is stenciled around it, with a husband and wife figurine in the corner.

The significance of the Waffle House to the pair’s relationship was not reported. Fox News has reached out for comment.

“We’re excited for Elizabeth and Hayes, and flattered that they would include us on their special day. It’s a well-known fact that relationships that start at Waffle House restaurants tend to become long-term and most end in matrimony. We say congratulations to the happy couple, and our wish is that they have many years covered and smothered in love.”
