Life, Liberty & Levin” host Mark Levin unloaded on the media Thursday while addressing the outrage over President Trump’s comments Wednesday that he would listen to information from a foreign government on a political rival.

“Have you ever seen a dumber media in your life? I mean truly, a dumber media,” Levin said on “Hannity.”

TRUMP SAYS HE WOULD ‘WANT TO HEAR’ DIRT ON 2020 RIVALS FROM FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS

“How would the president even know to turn something over to the FBI unless he accepted it and then read it? Accepted it and listened to it … and that is basically what he said.”

Democrats have been outraged by the president’s comments made in an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos.

“I think I’d want to hear it. … I think you might want to listen. There isn’t anything wrong with listening,” Trump said.

Levin then blasted the media, saying they have “destroyed freedom of the press” and accused them of protecting the left.

“But for the praetorian guard media that protects the left, that protects big government, big centralized government, the American people can’t stand you and I’m going to tell you why. You are destroying freedom of the press. You make a mockery of yourselves. Every time Donald Trump says something, you say it’s the end of the world. We’ve never seen anything like it,” Levin said.

“Every time Donald Trump says something, you say it’s the end of the world. We’ve never seen anything like it.”

— Mark Levin

Levin called the media out touch with the country.

“You operate in a bubble in Washington, you operate in a bubble in New York. You have no comprehension of what is going on in the country,” Levin said.

The Fox News host also blasted the media’s coverage of Iran and its alleged attacks on two oil tankers that were damaged in the Gulf of Oman early Thursday.

“The Iranians are taking out oil tankers. Not ours, but others. The Iranians are looking for war and what do we hear from the Code Pink left in the media? That it’s John Bolton’s fault! And that it’s the secretary of state’s fault! That it is the president of the United States’ fault! You’re pathetic, it’s a joke,” Levin railed.

Hannity: Trump playing Democrats and the media ‘like a flute’

Fox News host Sean Hannity on Thursday reiterated his belief that President Trump purposely “played” the media by saying he would listen to a foreign government who has intelligence on a political rival.

“Of course, listening to foreign research or any ‘opp’ research, or any reporting, anything elicit and saying you would take it to the FBI, that would not be a crime,” the host said on “Hannity.”

TRUMP SAYS HE WOULD ‘WANT TO HEAR’ DIRT ON 2020 RIVALS FROM FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS

“I wonder if he knew exactly what he was doing, the exact way he was asked that question and the answer he gave because time after time, he knows the media bubble and fizz like Alka-Seltzer in water and he is playing them like a flute.”

Hannity was referring to comments that Trump made during an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos in the Oval Office. The host also shared his theory on why the president’s critics are so easily manipulated.

“Here’s the point, and the people you just saw, as we predicted, so blinded in their hatred for President Trump, they don’t even realize they were set up like bowling pins, showing their ridiculous hypocrisy. Because they’re the very same people smearing the president hour after hour,” Hannity said.

Hannity continued to press critics who believe Hillary Clinton’s alleged actions were fine but Trump’s are supposedly illegal.

“The same ones that ignored, let’s see, foreign election interference that was bought and paid for by Hillary Clinton and the DNC,” Hannity said.

“It’s like I’m the only person who cares about Bernie Sanders. No outrage by any of these people. She bought it, she sought it, she paid for it, they spread it, they tried to use it to impact the election.”

Hong Kong quiet now, but prospect of new protest looms large

Calm appeared to have returned to Hong Kong after days of protests by students and human rights activists opposed to a bill that would allow suspects to be tried in mainland Chinese courts.

The prospect of further protests over the weekend loomed large, however, with demonstrators saying they were determined to prevent the administration of Beijing-appointed Chief Executive Carrie Lam from pushing through the legal amendments they see as eroding Hong Kong’s cherished legal autonomy.

Traffic flowed on major thoroughfares that had been closed after a protest by hundreds of thousands of people on Sunday, posing the biggest political challenge yet to Lam’s two-year-old government. Protesters had kept up a presence through Thursday night, singing hymns and holding up signs criticizing the police for their handling of the protests.

Man shot and killed by US marshals was wanted in Mississippi in connection with shooting

A 20-year-old black man whose Wednesday shooting death by a fugitive task force sparked a night of violence and unrest in a Memphis, Tenn., neighborhood, was wanted for a shooting in Mississippi, according to media reports.

DeSoto County District Attorney John Champion said Brandon Webber was wanted on aggravated assault and armed robbery charges related to a shooting during a car theft in Hernando, Miss., on June 3. The victim was shot five times and survived, Champion said.

Hernando is 35 miles south of Memphis.

U.S. Marshals with the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force went looking for Webber at a home in Memphis’ Frayser neighborhood Wednesday. They spotted him getting inside a vehicle, which he used to ram task force vehicles several times, officials said.

(Jim Weber/Daily Memphian via AP)

Webber was shot and killed when he got out of the vehicle holding a weapon, Tennessee authorities said. It was not clear how many times he was hit or how many shots were fired.

News of Webber’s death prompted a night of clashes between police and residents in the neighborhood.

Around 36 police officers suffered minor injuries due to bricks and rocks being thrown at them and several police vehicles were damaged. Several officers were taken to hospitals and were later released, according to a Memphis Police Department tweet.

Officers used tear gas and closed off streets to disperse the protestors. Rev. Andre E. Johnson, who was among those in the crowd Wednesday night, said the community was upset about why the marshals wanted Webber. He called him a beloved member of the community.

“The problem with it is they feel that police and the administration and city officials do not treat them as humans,” Johnson said. “That’s what it really boils down to: You are not worthy of an explanation.”

Three people were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. One of the three was also charged with inciting a riot.

The department reported 15 vehicles were damaged, along with five from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

Police and elected officials appealed for calm and patience Thursday while the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation conducts a probe of the shooting.

“I need everyone to stay calm,” Memphis Police Director Michael Rallings said.

As a precaution, officers’ days off have been canceled and every squad car will have two officers.

Laine Arnold, the press secretary for Tennessee’s Republican Gov. Bill Lee, said that the crowd’s actions on Wednesday “are not representative of the community but we stand firmly against acts of lawlessness that threaten the safety of our neighborhoods.”

CNN’s April Ryan hits Sarah Sanders on her way out, saying she ‘could not face the heat’

White House reporter and CNN political analyst April Ryan slammed outgoing White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders Thursday, insisting she “could not face the heat” of taking questions from journalists.

President Trump announced earlier Thursday that Sanders will be leaving the administration at the end of the month and expressed his hope that she will run for governor in her home state of Arkansas.

“After 3 1/2 years, our wonderful Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be leaving the White House at the end of the month and going home to the Great State of Arkansas,” Trump tweeted. “She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job! I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas – she would be fantastic. Sarah, thank you for a job well done!”

During a CNN panel discussion, Ryan said Sanders “did the right thing” by leaving the administration but stressed she should have done so “a long time ago.”

“She suffers from lie-abetes and her tenure has been fraught with sex, lies, and videotape,” Ryan told anchor Erin Burnett. “From the moment she stepped into that position, there were lies from that podium from her mouth.”

The American Urban Radio Networks correspondent listed several examples of what she considered “lies” from Sanders, including when the press secretary shared an altered video of CNN reporter Jim Acosta refusing to hand over the microphone to a White House intern during a press conference. The video made it appear Acosta assaulted the woman.

Ryan also cited Sanders’ admission to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigators that she did not give reporters an honest answer regarding the lack of confidence FBI agents had in fired director James Comey. She also slammed Sanders for not holding a former press briefing in over 90 days.

“When Sarah Huckabee had no ground to stand on, she would make personal attacks,” Ryan continued. “There were many times she would leave after 12 minutes of doing a briefing because she could not face the heat.”

Iranian vessel removed unexploded mine from stricken oil tanker in Gulf of Oman, US officials say

An Iranian vessel removed an unexploded mine that had been attached to a Japanese-owned oil tanker which suffered serious damage after an explosion in the Gulf of Oman early Thursday, U.S. officials told Fox News.

The U.S. military possessed video of the incident and has planned to release it, the official added. The imagery came from the USS Bainbridge, a guided-missile destroyer which rescued 21 sailors from the stricken tanker.

At least one other mine attached to tanker’s hull detonated, causing the blast. It happened near the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a key route for oil shipments in the region.

A U.S. official told Fox News an Iranian gunboat approached the Kokuka Courageous later in the day and removed the unexploded triangular-shaped limpet mine, the same type of mine used to damage four other tankers in the Gulf of Oman last month.

The official, who requested anonymity to discuss sensitive information, said the suspected Iranian vessel did not bear any flags, nor did the crew members wear any uniforms. But, the class of vessel, what the U.S. military has called a fast inshore attack craft (FIAC), was the same type of ship used by Iran to harass American warships in the Persian Gulf in recent years.

Other Iranian small boats have remained near the stricken oil tanker since the attack early Thursday, the official added.

IRAN RESPONSIBLE FOR ‘BLATANT ASSAULT’ ON OIL TANKERS, POMPEO SAYS

The official said the order to abandon ship was given after the tanker’s captain spotted the unexploded mine, not because of the fire aboard the ship.

Another tanker, a Norwegian-owned vessel called the Front Altair, also was attacked in the Gulf of Oman Thursday. Its crew was being held in Iran, according to U.S. officials.

“This is what we’re out here for,” Cmdr. M. Kathryn Devin, the USS Bainbridge’s commanding officer, said of the rescues. “Our mission is to ensure maritime safety and to answer the call for aid when we can.”

At the State Department on Thursday afternoon, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo blamed Iran for the attacks on both oil tankers.

Iran’s U.N. Mission said its government “categorically rejects” the U.S. claim that it was responsible for the attacks and condemned it “in the strongest possible terms.”

President Trump potentially viewing opposition research information from foreign governments is very different than Hillary Clinton utilizing the Christopher Steele dossier, according to a Democratic Party official.

The dossier was the result of the Clinton campaign hiring an American opposition research firm and not of direct contact with Russian sources, New York State Democratic Party chairman Jay Jacobs claimed Thursday on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

“There’s a difference between the Steele dossier and how it came about and what happened here in this circumstance or in this hypothetical,” Jacobs said, referring to comments the president made to ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos.

DEMS HAMMER TRUMP FOR OPENNESS TO FOREIGN CAMPAIGN INTEL, STAY SILENT ON CLINTON, DNC OUTREACH

Trump told Stephanopoulos he would be willing to listen to foreign governments if they approached him with information on a political rival. The president added he would not necessarily contact the FBI if such an approach was made.

Jacobs alluded to the fact Fusion GPS was initially hired by the Washington Free Beacon, telling host Tucker Carlson, “the difference simply is that this was an opposition research project that frankly was started by a conservative media outlet to begin with.”

“It was then handed over to the Democrats. An American outlet, Fusion GPS, started by a Wall Street Journal reporter… who had this effort on to look at Republican candidates. Steele was engaged by them,” the party official said.

Carlson pushed back, noting Steele was himself a foreign intelligence officer, albeit retired.

“He was a career British intelligence officer,” Carlson said.

“Steele said the information in the dossier… came from Russia. The Hillary Clinton campaign and the DNC used information from Russians, from Russian intel sources, from the Russian government, to attack Trump.”

Jacobs responded, reiterating Clinton’s team did not deal directly with Russian actors in the Steele situation.

“It’s not about finding out the information. It’s who approached who,” Jacobs claimed.

“The Hillary campaign went to an opposition research firm. They happened to engage Steele – a whole different scenario here between Russian intelligence officers coming in and contacting the Trump campaign.

“You had a hostile adversary approach a campaign and you have a president saying he doesn’t have to go to the FBI – that’s wrong.”

Republicans have pressed for answers on the Clinton campaign and DNC’s role in the creation of the Steele dossier.

Trey Gowdy dismisses 2020 Dem Swalwell’s call for impeachment

Former congressman Trey Gowdy dismissed Democratic presidential candidate Eric Swalwell‘s call to impeach President Trump, saying there are no grounds for such actions and that Swalwell just doesn’t want Trump as president.

“I’m just trying to process…the democracy is at risk, so let’s impeach a duly elected president… over a crime for which he was not indicted? I’m trying to process how all that works together,” Gowdy said on “The Story with Martha MacCallum” Thursday.

Gowdy labeled Rep. Swalwell, D-Calif., a leader of the “impeachment train.”

“Here’s what I can tell you about Eric. He’s not just getting on the impeachment bandwagon, he helped build it,” Gowdy said.

TRUMP SAYS HE WOULD ‘WANT TO HEAR’ DIRT ON 2020 RIVALS FROM FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS

“He was on the House Intelligence Committee. They wanted a cloud over this presidency, and they got one. But he and Schiff have been leading the impeachment train, whether or not he formally called for it or not, his actions have indicated that he wanted Trump to not be president since the inauguration.

Earlier Thursday Swalwell, while appearing on MSNBC called for the impeachment of the president over his comments regarding listening to a foreign government with intelligence on a political adversary.

“But now it shows the conduct during the last election was also one that was done with intent. I don’t think we can wait any longer. Our democracy is at risk,” Swalwell said.

Gowdy also dismissed Swalwell’s assertion saying he was confident that Trump or any other president would notify the proper authorities.

“I am… 100 percent confident and hopeful that this president and any other president would call the intelligence community and law enforcement if a foreign adversary were trying to impact our election,” Gowdy said.

The former congressman also took aim at the FBI and former intelligence leaders saying then-candidate Trump would have been unable to trust Obama-era heads of those organizations.

“But the flip side of that is when you do pick up the phone and call, you have to have confidence in who is on the other end of the line but let’s assume he called in June of 2016.  Who would he have gotten? Jim Comey, someone who’s spent the last two years saying impeachment is too good for the president? John Brennan, is that who he’s supposed to call?  A guy who says he’s treasonous,” Gowdy said.

Gowdy added, “The FBI also has an obligation to be so apolitical and so objective that nobody has any qualms calling them.”

Utah officer who pulled gun on black child sparks protests

Activists are planning to protest at a police agency in northern Utah after learning an officer who pulled his gun on a 10-year-old child will continue to work.

Black Lives Matter in Utah founder Lex Scott said Thursday they will hold a protest Friday night to demand the officer be fired.

Woods Cross Police Chief Chad Soffe said Monday he is not looking to terminate the unidentified officer.

Jerri Hrubes, who is black, said a white Woods Cross police officer pulled his gun on her son while he was playing outside on June 6.

Soffe said the officer mistook the boy for a potential suspect during a pursuit of armed suspects.

Hrubes said the officer apologized but she still wants the agency held accountable.

Outagamie County District Attorney Melinda Tempelis said Thursday that Officer Paul Christensen and Sgt. Christopher Biese won’t face criminal charges.

Christensen and Biese exchanged shots with 47-year-old Ruben Houston on May 15 outside of Appleton’s downtown transit center. Christensen was wounded, along with a bystander. Both have been released from the hospital.

Appleton firefighter Mitchell Lundgaard was shot and died of his injuries at a hospital.

Houston had just arrived at the transit center on a bus. The Post-Crescent reports the district attorney said before the shooting take place, Houston was treated with Narcan, a drug used to revive people suffering from a drug overdose.
