All US armored vehicles evacuating northeast Syria have arrived in Iraq, defense official says

All roughly 100 U.S. armored vehicles evacuating northeast Syria in a convoy have arrived in Iraq, a U.S. defense official tells Fox News.

Earlier today in Afghanistan, Defense Secretary Mark Esper said some U.S. troops will stay behind, and “remain in the towns that are located near the oil fields” in northeast Syria to protect them from ISIS, Syrian regime or Iranian forces.

Esper said the plan to guard the oil still needed President Trump’s approval.

A few hundred other U.S. troops will remain in southern Syria at a garrison near the border with Jordan, the president said last week in a statement.

“Our forces will remain in the towns that are located near the oil fields. The purpose of those forces, a purpose of those forces working with SDF, is to deny access to those oil fields by ISIS and others who may benefit from revenues that can be earned. I’ve made no decision with regard to various options. Those are things we would have to be presented to the president in due course,” Esper said earlier in the day.

US TROOPS LEAVING SYRIA FOR IRAQ IN ‘WEEKS NOT DAYS’, ESPER SAYS

The U.S. military convoy left over the weekend for the Iraqi border. They were met by Kurdish protesters in some cases pelting the trucks with rocks and tomatoes – anger over what they call a betrayal by Trump to leave them to be slaughtered by Turkish forces and mercenaries. Despite Trump saying he wanted to bring the forces home, Esper says the bulk of the roughly 700 U.S. troops in northeast Syria would be going to Western Iraq, not returning home to the U.S. Hundreds of other U.S. troops will remain in southern Syria.

Sunday, the top Kurdish general of the Syrian Democratic Forces, the main U.S. ally against ISIS in Syria told our colleague Jennifer Griffin in a phone interview from Syria that Turkey has violated the ceasefire negotiated by Vice President Mike Pence and Turkey’s president last week. More than 500 Kurdish civilians have been killed, and more than 400,000 displaced.

Gen. Mazloum Abdi said Turkey had tricked the U.S. by pulling back its troops from the border and having Kurdish forces destroy their bases before pulling back, as well. The joint U.S.-Turkish patrols near the border earlier this month gave valuable intelligence to Turkey to spy on Kurdish positions ahead of the invasion, Mazloum said.

The oil fields have been the scene of fierce fighting. In February 2018 U.S. Special Operations soldiers and Kurdish forces came under attack, by a group of Russian mercenaries. U.S. apache gunships, fighter jets and bombers were called in to kill hundreds of the Russian and pro-Assad forces.

Trump hinted over the weekend about the plan by tweeting that US troops had “secured the Oil.”

Daniel Krauthammer talks about how his late father would view politics today

Daniel Krauthammer, son of the a longtime Fox News contributor Charles Krauthammer, spoke to Bret Baier about the paperback release of his father’s book and the state of American politics.

Krauthammer said Monday on “Special Report” hundreds of people have spoken to him as he traveled from city to city to promote “The Point of It All: A Lifetime of Great Loves and Endeavors,” and have asked him what his father would think of the current political environment.

“After the hardcover edition came out last winter, I traveled around the country… to promote it and talk to admires of my father, people who read him and watched him on TV,” he said.

“It was really moving and touching for me to realize how much of an impact he had on so many people.”

DANIEL KRAUTHAMMER: IN SEARCH OF CIVILITY — IN OUR POLITICS NOW, WE ARE INCREASINGLY TALKING PAST EACH OTHER

Krauthammer said people have told him they feel “lost” without his father, who died in 2018 at the age of 68 after a battle with cancer.

He said his father would always go to the core of a political issue and opine without regard to a particular party or ideology, but through a few basic principles.

His father, he said, strived to be truthful, without “pulling punches,” or “shaping his opinions just to please someone or please public opinion.”

To that extent, Baier noted then-candidate Donald Trump had an up-and-down relationship with the elder Krauthammer.

In June 2017, Trump called the late columnist “highly overrated pundit.”

TRUMP SAYS PELOSI SHOULD INVESTIGATE OBAMA’S SYRIA RED LINE

“As far as Charles Krauthammer, I’m not a fan of his,” Trump told Fox & Friends at the time.

However, in another interview with Baier, he thanked Krauthammer for putting ‘money’ on him during “Special Report’s” Candidate Casino.

“I saw that — I couldn’t believe it. Thank you Charles, I’m going to make you look good, Charles,” Trump said.

In response, Daniel Krauthammer told Baier those two exchanges validated the way his father viewed politics and politicians.

“My father really — as he said many times — his job was to call a folly a folly, and it didn’t matter which side that was on,” he said.

AOC ENDORSING BERNIE SANDERS IS ‘NOT A GAME CHANGER,’ JUAN WILLIAMS SAYS

“And he certainly called out President Trump many times for those follies… but he also saw overreactions on the other side.

“He separated out what was real policy difference that’s valid and should be met that way, and things that really were beyond the pale and really should be criticized.”

Krauthammer remarked Trump’s responses in those interviews also showed people, “never knew where my dad was going to land on a certain issue.”

He added his father would likely continue that practice in the present, shying away from attacking politicians’ character and instead trying to have a debate on the issues.

“Trying to persuade, not to overpower — to meet people where they began with their assumptions,” he said.

In addition, one final thing his father would most definitely have a word on, his son said, was another recent development in Washington.

Last week, Charles Krauthammer’s beloved Nationals baseball team completed a four-game sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals — advancing to the World Series.

“I know he would be happy as a ten-year-old boy,” Daniel Krauthammer remarked.

Former Kentucky GOP candidate for governor endorses Democrat against Republican incumbent

A former Republican candidate for Kentucky governor has endorsed incumbent Gov. Matt Bevin‘s Democratic rival.

William Woods announced his endorsement of Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear in a video posted Monday to Twitter.

“This election isn’t about politics to me, It’s about doing the right thing,” Woods said. “I’m ready for a governor who will respect all of us, regardless of political affiliation.”

Woods finished a distant third in May’s gubernatorial primary with just over 14,000 votes, compared to 136,000 votes for Bevin.

In his message, Woods cited Beshear’s support for public schools and law enforcement. The reference to schools refers to last year’s tensions between teachers and state Republican lawmakers over several education bills.

At one point, teachers across the state called in sick in protest against changes to the management of their pension system, forcing some school districts to close several times.

Bevin criticized the “sickouts” and state educators, saying they left “students in the lurch.”

In a statement to Fox News, Bevin’s campaign manager, Davis Paine, said the governor is “proud to have the support of real Kentucky leaders on both sides of the aisle, Republicans and Democrats.”

“It’s not news that Andy Beshear has earned the support of an unknown anti-Trump liberal,” Paine added.

President Trump has thrown his support to Bevin and plans to hold a rally on Nov. 4  —  the day before the election — at Rupp Arena in Lexington.

Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., who was named the acting chair of the influential Committee on Oversight and Reform after the recent death of Rep. Elijah Cummings, said Monday that the panel will continue its impeachment inquiry into President Trump without delay.

“The work of the Committee on Oversight and Reform will continue uninterrupted despite our heavy hearts—as Chairman Cummings would have wanted. We will continue to pursue the impeachment inquiry with vigor in support of the investigation led by the Intelligence Committee,” Maloney said in a statement.

TRUMP UNLOADS OVER SYRIA, IMPEACHMENT, DORAL CONTROVERSIES, SAYS HE ‘SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO RUN THE COUNTRY’

She added the committee will continue to keep “shining a spotlight” on the Trump administration’s actions, including the treatment of migrants detained at the southern border and the cost of prescription drugs.

Maloney is set to serve as the acting chair until Democrats find a successor. Cummings, 68, who publicly feuded with Trump over the president’s comments this past summer about living conditions in his Baltimore district, died Thursday after long-running health problems.

As the committee chair, Cummings, D-Md., was one of several Democrats leading impeachment efforts against the president.

The committee has demanded documents and subpoenaed witnesses —  including Energy Secretary Rick Perry and two business associates of Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani.

Many Democrats have accused Trump of pushing Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky to launch an investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter over their business dealings in Ukraine.

The president has denied any wrongdoing and has continued to assail congressional Democrats for “trying to destroy the country.”

ISIS using TikTok to spread propaganda, emojis and all, report says

The Islamic State has been using the social media video platform TikTok as a recruitment tool, according to a bombshell report.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the terrorist group placed videos of Islamic State anthems and footage of corpses and ISIS fighters to the carefree app popular with teenagers and known for videos of dancing high-school students, harmless pranks and lip-synching with special effects.

One terror video earned 68 likes, and some ISIS-related accounts had around 1,000 followers.

“The rhyme, beat, evocative lyrics and punchy delivery are especially appealing to youth,” Elisabeth Kendall, an Oxford University expert on extremism, told the newspaper. “This catchy sing-along method for propagating ISIS ideology means it spreads quickly and sticks in the collective memory. It tends to be far more effective than sermons or theological debate and treatises.”

Watch: Elizabeth Warren dodges question on how she would fund ‘Medicare-for-all’

Elizabeth Warren boasts she has a “plan for that” — but it turns out she doesn’t always have an answer for questions at the core of her White House bid.

Warren, one of the leading Democrats seeking to unseat President Trump in 2020, spoke to reporters Monday after an event at Roosevelt High school in Des Moines, Iowa, when the topic of “Medicare-for-all” was raised.

During the media gaggle, Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked Warren: “How should caucus-goers be confident it is possible to pay for ‘Medicare-for-all’ at all if the leading Democratic candidate still needs a few more weeks to tell them how it is going to get paid for?”

In response, Warren replied: “Well, why don’t you ask me that when the plan is out.”

POLL: VOTERS OPPOSE ‘MEDICARE-FOR-ALL’ SYSTEM THAT ELIMINATES PRIVATE INSURANCE

She did not give any further details.

Warren has been criticized in recent weeks for not explaining exactly how she would cover the costs for her ambitious plan, with two fellow 2020 contenders taking issue with her during last week’s debate.

After being asked by the moderators early at the fourth-round debate in Ohio last Tuesday whether middle-class taxes would rise under her health0care proposal, the progressive senator didn’t specifically answer, instead pledging, “I will not sign a bill into law that does not cut costs for middle-class families.”

Moments later, South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg took aim at Warren, who’s soared in polling in recent months and has been considered a frontrunner for the party’s presidential nomination alongside former Vice President Joe Biden.

ELIZABETH WARREN APPARENTLY SCRUBS DNA-TEST ROLLOUT FROM CAMPAIGN SITE, TWITTER

Accusing Warren of being evasive, Buttigieg argued, “Your signature, senator, is to have a plan for everything— except for this. No plan has been laid out to explain how a multitrillion-dollar hole in this ‘Medicare-for-all’ plan that Senator Warren is putting forward is supposed to get filled in.”

Warren, firing back at Buttigieg, said: “Let’s be clear, whenever someone hears the term ‘Medicare for all who want it,’ understand what that means: It’s ‘Medicare for all who can afford it,’ and that’s the problem we’ve got. ‘Medicare-for-all’ is the gold standard.”

Sen. Amy Klobuchar then joined Buttigieg in calling out Warren.

The Minnesota Democrat said, “At least [Bernie Sanders is] being honest here in saying how he’s going to pay for this and that taxes will go up, and I’m sorry, Elizabeth, but you have not said that and I think we owe it to the American people to tell them where we’re going to send the invoice.”

Suggesting that Warren would never be able to pass her ‘Medicare-for-all’ plan through Congress, Klobuchar said: “The difference between a plan and a pipe dream is something that you can actually get done.”

Biden also chimed in, jabbing at Warren without naming her, accusing her of not being straightforward.

“On the single most important thing facing the American public, I think it’s awfully important to be straightforward with them,” Biden noted. “The plan is going to cost at least $30 trillion over 10 years. That is more on a yearly basis than the entire federal budget.”

Fox News’ Paul Steinhauser contributed to this report.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s, D-N.Y., endorsement of Sen. Bernie Sanders’ 2020 Democratic presidential bid is not necessarily a game-changer, according to Juan Williams.

While Ocasio-Cortez is seen by many younger, more liberal voters as the leader of a political “movement,” her endorsement is not the same as if the backing was coming from other Democratic Party figures, Williams claimed Monday on “The Five.”

“She is the personification of a movement for a lot of young people on the left, but I don’t know that it’s actually going to mean a bump in support,” he said.

AOC BACKS SANDERS AT NEW YORK RALLY

“I think Obama, when he endorses — I think you could see it as ‘passing the torch’ to the next generation, but I’m not sure that her endorsement is necessarily a game-changer.”

At a Saturday rally in New York, Ocasio-Cortez praised Sanders by claiming he is responsible for “one of the best Democratic presidential primary fields in a generation.”

However, one of the Republicans vying to face-off with Ocasio-Cortez in 2020 recently ripped the lawmaker for holding the rally near what would have been the site of an Amazon complex she helped rebuff.

More from Media

“They did this with 25,000 people, we heard, but omitted the fact that they killed 25,000 jobs by killing the Amazon deal right there in that part of town,” Scherie Murray said on “Fox & Friends,” adding that “good-paying jobs” were lost for the people of Queens and The Bronx.

On “The Five,” host Greg Gutfeld noted Williams’ point about the power of former President Barack Obama’s endorsement, noting the Democrat recently voiced his support for a Canadian politician before his own running mate.

Gutfeld said it was “kind of sad” to see Obama endorse Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for reelection while remaining silent as former Vice President Joe Biden vies with Sanders and others for the Democratic nomination stateside.

Booker, in thinly veiled Warren dig, touts there’s ‘no bigger policy wonk nerd in this race than me’

PETERBOROUGH, N.H. – Sen. Elizabeth Warren is known as the candidate with the plans, but Senate colleague and presidential nomination rival Sen. Cory Booker begs to differ.

“There’s no bigger policy wonk nerd in this race than me. Anybody who knows me in the Senate, that’s my forte,” Booker, D-N.J., highlighted Monday in an interview with Fox News and NHTalkRadio.com.

Booker, who was interviewed aboard his campaign’s New Hampshire RV, emphasized that “there’s been 170-180 plans put out by every candidate. We’re all putting out plans. I love mine. I think in so many cases my plans are better. Heck, we are the only people to put out a plan on child poverty. How can that be?”

WARREN SAYS SHE’LL UNVEIL HOW SHE’LL PAY FOR HER MEDICARE-FOR-ALL PLAN

And, he indirectly took aim at Warren, D-Mass., who’s soared in recent months to a tie with former Vice President Joe Biden for the top spot in the 2020 primary race.

“I stand with Elizabeth Warren. I think ‘Medicare-for-all’ is the best way to do it. But, I also actually believe that it’s going to be a process to get there,” Booker noted. “We can’t be in a situation where we’re just talking away insurance from folks.”

Warren has been a major supporter of the “Medicare-for-all” plan introduced in the Senate by 2020 rival Sen. Bernie Sanders. The government-run plan, if enacted, would eliminate private insurance.

Booker, spotlighting his pragmatism, added, “I will not be one of those folks on the stage that’s so rigid to say, ‘It’s my way or the highway and I’m going to sacrifice progress for purity. I’m going to let perfect be the enemy of the good,’ when every American needs more good.”

Asked if some of his nomination rivals were too rigid, Booker answered, “that’s what voters are going to have to decide.”

THE LATEST FROM FOX NEWS ON THE 2020 PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN

Warren came under repeated attack at last week’s fourth-round primary debate over her refusal to discuss whether taxes would go up for middle-class Americans to implement her proposal for a government-run “Medicare-for-all” plan. She announced Sunday that she would soon reveal how the country would pay for it if she were president.

Booker has built up a formidable team in New Hampshire and Iowa, the first two states to vote in the caucus and primary calendar. Analysts have called him a skilled retail campaigner and arguably the best orator in the record-setting field of presidential contenders. But, he’s yet to pop in the polls or have many viral moments.

“The people that usually win are the people who peak in January, February, not people who are winning in the summer or winning in the fall. We’ve just got to continue doing the work,” he noted.

And, pointing to one-time longshots who ended up winning the nomination and eventually the White House, he said, “the more people who hear my message, the more [success] and momentum we’re getting and I’m hoping that continues to rise. And, by the time we’re in next year, I hope we’ll do what Bill Clinton, the comeback kid, or Jimmy Carter – who won New Hampshire – I’ll follow in their footsteps.”

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff is leading a “total political hit job” on President Trump, according to a Republican lawmaker co-sponsoring a bill to censure the California Democrat.

The American people have had the most to lose amid the Trump impeachment inquiry Schiff is leading, Rep. Debbie Lesko, R-Ariz., claimed Monday on “Your World.”

“I imagine that the Democrats are going to kill the bill to censure Adam Schiff because this whole thing is a political hit job against the president,” she said.

“Adam Schiff… has for two years said he had proof that the president colluded with Russians — that turned out to be false in the Mueller report. Then, made up… what President Trump said to the Ukrainian president, trying to deceive the American public.”

Lesko claimed Schiff continues to try to mislead the public about alleged wrongdoing or unethical behavior on the part of the president, and added she believed his personal bias is hurting Congress’ ability to work on issues constituents care about.

She said congressional Democrats are instead engaged in a baseless “witch hunt” to try to tar Trump and ruin his presidency.

“Nothing is getting done around here except all these closed-door impeachment inquiries,” she told host Neil Cavuto from inside the U.S. Capitol.

Later in the interview, she mentioned other issues she had with Schiff, and reiterated he is engaged in a “total political hit job.”

She said Schiff repeatedly claimed publicly he had no contact with the Ukraine phone call whistleblower, despite later reporting by Fox News the yet unnamed individual failed to disclose contact with the lawmaker’s committee staff.

“He’s so biased, and on multiple occasions has said falsities,” she said, adding Trump, to date, has been offered “no due process.”

To that extent, she said former Presidents Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton were allowed more access to the process of their impeachment inquiries. In Nixon’s case, he resigned before he could be formally impeached.

Last week, Lesko’s Grand Canyon State colleague, Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., took steps in hopes of forcing a vote on the censure motion within two legislative days, as Republicans do not have the majority required call a vote outright.

Romney calls Obama, Biden ‘honorable,’ refrains from calling Trump the same

Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, offered kind words to President Obama and former Vice President Joe Biden by calling them “honorable,” but in an awkward exchange refrained to make the same compliment about President Trump.

In a recent interview with Axios, Romney was asked if his 2012 competitor was an “honorable man.”

“I believe he’s an honorable man, yes,” Romney answered. “A good family man and he made a lot of mistakes. Most presidents do.”

“Is Joe Biden an honorable man?” Axios executive editor Mike Allen asked.

“You know, I don’t know Joe Biden terribly well, but from everything I’ve seen and the interactions I’ve had with him, he seems to me like a man of honor,” Romney responded.

Allen then posed the same question about Trump, which drew some criticism from the Utah senator.

ROMNEY TAKES SHOTS AT TRUMP OVER RACE, SAYS HE’S ABANDONING KURDS IN SYRIA

“I knew where you were going, but I’m not going to let you catch me in a corner,” Romney said. “He has elements, I’m sure, of honor in his life and there are things that I think are not honorable. And, I mention that because of the payment to a porn star for sexual relations outside of marriage.

“Look, I’m one of those who believes we have a responsibility to be honorable and faithful to our wives and the president made a failing in that regard.”

The former Massachusetts governor was widely critical of Trump throughout the interview.

“People will recognize that character really is important in our leaders and that it’s important for our leaders to do things that unify us, that welcome people who come here legally as immigrants, that in no way signal to anybody in America that they’re less of an American because of where they came from or their sexual orientation or their race or their religion,” he said.

The senator added that the future will not be kind to Trump’s legacy, including his recent move to withdraw troops from northern Syria, which analysts claimed could be seen as abandoning U.S.-allied Kurdish forces. As Romney put it, “We should never abandon our friends.”

He also said, “Clearly, the world watches and people who potentially could be our allies at a critical time say perhaps the U.S. won’t stay with us. Perhaps they’ll cut and run if they think it’s in their best interest. And, walking away from the Kurds in a corner of Syria at a critical time when the troops coming from Turkey are intent upon doing them harm is something which I think would be a very dark spot in American history.”
