Apple iPhone 7 radiation test prompts FCC investigation: report

Apple’s popular iPhone 7 produced radiofrequency radiation above the legal limit in a new test, prompting the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to investigate the issue.

The cellphone was set to operate at full power and was secured below a tub of clear liquid formulated to mimic human tissue during the test, which was conducted and paid for by The Chicago Tribune inside an accredited lab following federal guidelines. For 18 minutes, a tiny probe measured the radiofrequency radiation the liquid was absorbing from the iPhone 7.

According to the Tribune, the test found radiofrequency radiation “over the legal safety limit and more than double what Apple reported to federal regulators from its own testing.”

The newspaper tested three more brand new iPhone 7s at full power, and those also measured above the exposure limit. In total, 11 models from four different manufacturers were tested.

The FCC told the Tribune it would conduct its own testing over the next few months.

“We take seriously any claims on non-compliance with the RF (radiofrequency) exposure standards and will be obtaining and testing the subject phones for compliance with FCC rules,” agency spokesman Neil Grace said.

FACEBOOK’S ANTI-CONSERVATIVE BIAS AUDIT SPARKS BACKLASH

As the Tribune notes, it’s not clear whether prolonged exposure to radiofrequency radiation can increase the risk of cancers or cause other harm. With cellphones in wide use around the world, the issue is sure to receive increased scrutiny.

Two phone manufacturers, including Apple, disputed the Tribune’s results, saying the lab that the newspaper used does not conduct tests the same way the tech giant does — although the company did not specify exactly what was different or wrong about the Tribune’s tests.

“All iPhone models, including iPhone 7, are fully certified by the FCC and in every other country where iPhone is sold,” Apple’s statement to the Tribune said. “After careful review and subsequent validation of all iPhone models tested in the [Tribune] report, we confirmed we are in compliance and meet all applicable … exposure guidelines and limits.”

The tests were conducted by RF Exposure Lab in San Marcos, Calif., which is recognized by the FCC as accredited to test for radiofrequency radiation from electronic devices.

Jewish model who came to Trump’s defense speaks out

Westlake Legal Group Pipko-Trump Jewish model who came to Trump's defense speaks out fox-news/opinion fox-news/fox-nation Fox News Staff fox news fnc/media fnc article 67fe5c9d-aa4c-5832-b82f-8d01169102e8

Model and founder of The Exodus Movement, Elizabeth Pipko, joined a panel of guests on Thursday to discuss the choice that Jewish Democrats will face in 2020.

“Look, the Democrats have shown with their words and actions over the last several years that they are taking Jews and their support totally for granted,” Pipko said in an earlier interview.

Pipko is a former Trump 2016 campaign staffer, who made headlines earlier this year when she announced her support for President Trump, and co-founded Jexodus — now known as The Exodus Movement. According to their website, The Exodus Movement is comprised of “proud Jewish Americans who reject the hypocrisy, anti-Americanism, and anti-Semitism of the rising far-left.”

OPINION: DEMS ABANDONED ISRAEL, JEWS SHOULD ABANDON THEM

Appearing in the latest episode of Fox Nation‘s “Deep Dive,” Pipko, 24, is speaking out after defending President Trump after he suggested that Jewish Americans who vote for Democrats show a lack of knowledge or “great disloyalty” to Israel. The President has since doubled down on his comments accusing Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar of “hating Israel” and the Jewish people.

Both Congresswomen have been outspoken in their support for a movement to boycott, divest, and sanction Israel, and have championed the movement in the House.

TRUMP RIPS DEMS’ EMOTIONAL PRESS CONFERENCE ON ISRAEL: ‘I DON’T BUY REP. TLAIB’S TEARS’

“The BDS movement wants to boycott and cancel out Israel, the only Jewish state in the world,” said Pipko. “That is blatantly antisemitic.”

“Israel also has contributed so much to the world, in technology and medicine and it’s a huge ally to America,” Pipko continued.

“And despite what Ilhan Omar says, and the air quotes she uses when she says it, Israel is the only true democracy in the Middle-East,” she explained.

“To try to cut our relationship with Israel and help towards the destruction of Israel is something I never thought I’d see, and really just disgusting to watch.”

FOUNDER OF EXODUS MOVEMENT DEFENDS TRUMP

Pipko believes the Republican party is well-positioned to win over Jewish voters in 2020, because, Pipko explained, until recently, “supporting Israel was not controversial.”

“Both sides, no matter what side of the aisle you were on, supported Israel — and now the Democratic party has chosen to blatantly disregard Israel,” she said, explaining that “the obvious shift” may lead to an increase in Jewish Americans voting Republican.

“I don’t think Democratic Jews ever saw this coming for Israel and they’re going to have to make a very difficult decision in 2020,” Pipko concluded.

Newt Gingrich: President Trump willing to take economic risks to deal with China

President Trump is still willing to take the necessary risks to “deal” with China despite talk from many quarters about a potential economic downturn, Newt Gingrich said Thursday.

Appearing on “America’s Newsroom,” Gingrich told host Sandra Smith that he thought the president waivered “in part based on the news media coverage.”

He noted that as news of a possible recession continuously circulated, the White House “went all out putting Larry Kudlow and others on TV saying, ‘Oh, things are fine; don’t worry about it.’”

Then, just one day after considering a tax cut to promote economic growth, the president pivoted and said that the nation already had a “strong economy.”

JOHN DELANEY SUGGESTS SOME DEMS ARE ‘CHEERING ON A RECESSION’ TO HURT TRUMP

Trump told reporters on Thursday: “I’m not looking at a tax cut now. We don’t need it; we have a strong economy. Certainly, a payroll tax cut — President Obama did that in order to artificially jack up the economy. President Obama had zero interest rates. I don’t have zero interest, I have real interest rates. And, despite that, I have a strong economy.”

Additionally, he commented that the idea of indexing the capital gains tax to inflation would be “perceived, if I do it, as somewhat elitist.”

The comments came in the wake of recent market volatility and uncertainty amid a testy trade war with China and chatter about a possible recession.

On “America’s Newsroom,” Gingrich said the change of heart paints a clear picture of how the administration thinks the economy is tracking.

TRUMP SAYS PAYROLL TAX CUT IS ON THE TABLE, REJECTS RECESSION WARNINGS

“I think they’re pretty well convinced that, in fact, we’re not going to have a recession in the near future and they don’t need any of those tools,” said Gingrich.

He added: “I also think the president is a businessman who understands that a very short-term limited payroll tax cut isn’t much of a boost. If you get permanent tax cuts, it’s a different thing because it changes your behavior. If you have a very short-term tax cut, frankly, you just go spend it.”

That said, analysts have warned that a slowdown could hit before the 2020 election. The president has largely blamed the Federal Reserve and Chairman Jay Powell.

On Thursday morning he tweeted: “Our Federal Reserve does not allow us to do what we must do. They put us at a disadvantage against our competition…The Economy is doing really well. The Federal Reserve can easily make it Record Setting! The question is being asked, why are we paying much more in interest than Germany and certain other countries?”

DEFIANT TRUMP DIGS IN AMID BATTLES ON TRADE, GUNS, ISRAEL: ‘I AM THE CHOSEN ONE’

Gingrich agreed with the president’s push against the “Fed,” telling Smith: “We have a higher interest rate than, say, Europe does which means if you’re a wealthy person you’re getting out of European bonds which now pay zero. And, you’re moving into American bonds…in a sense we’re seeing an artificial strengthening of the dollar because we have a much higher interest rate pattern than Europe does and the president would like to see the Federal Reserve…kind of bring our interest rates down to be more competitive with European interest rates.”

Furthermore, the president has indicated he had no choice but to impose trade penalties that have been a drag on U.S. manufacturers, financial markets, and American consumers.

“Somebody had to do it. I am the chosen one.” Trump told reporters on Wednesday. “Somebody had to do it. So, I’m taking on China. I’m taking on China on trade.”

The world economy has been slowing in recent months, and stock market swings have added to concerns that the U.S. economy is not impervious.

“On the other front, remember part of what’s happening worldwide is that the American economy is probably the strongest single economy in the world right now,” Gingrich stated.

Mountain lion bites Colorado boy, 8, on head, injuries ‘serious,’ wildlife officials say

An eight-year-old boy in Colorado suffered “serious” injuries Wednesday night after a mountain lion bit him on the head in his backyard, officials said.

The unnamed boy was playing with his brother on a trampoline around 7:30 p.m. at their home in Bailey, about 47 miles southwest of Denver, when the boy ran to a neighboring house to visit a friend, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) said in a statement Thursday. As the boy ran across the yard, a mountain lion attacked and pinned the boy to the ground.

COLORADO HUNTER SURVIVES MOUNTAIN LION ATTACK AT BIG HORN PARK, SUFFERS ONLY MINOR INJURIES

“The kid was running and it probably triggered the lion’s natural response to a prey animal running,” Area Wildlife Manager Mark Lamb said. “We all hope that the child will be all right and you just hate to see this occur.”

The boy’s brother ran into the house to alert their father, who ran outside and scared the mountain lion away, officials said. The boy was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries. He remained in the hospital overnight.

The mountain lion was described as “of smaller size,” officials said. It was unclear whether it was male or female.

CPW workers said they set up a cage trap for the animal and searched the area for about two hours with a team of dogs but were unable to track the mountain lion. The pursuit was expected to continue Thursday.

Any wildlife that attacks a human must be put down for the public’s safety, according to wildlife policy in the state.

There have been three mountain lion attacks on humans this year, CPW said. Since 1990, there have been 22 attacks, with three of them resulting in deaths.

Mysterious medieval skeleton at Prague Castle reveals its secrets

Archaeologists are shedding new light on a mysterious medieval skeleton that was discovered buried with a sword, ax and knives at Prague Castle during the 1920s.

The remains, which are from the 10th century, were found under the courtyard of the famous Czech castle in 1928.

FEMALE VIKING WARRIOR’S REMARKABLE GRAVE SHEDS NEW LIGHT ON ANCIENT SOCIETY

The skeleton and the items were harnessed as a propaganda tool by both the Nazis and the Soviets in the turbulent decades that followed, as they were identified as Viking by the Nazis and as a Slavonic warrior by the Soviets, according to research published in the journal Antiquity.

More recently, they became part of the Czech independence movement.

The team of researchers include two emeritus professors from the U.K.’s University of Bristol.

“A number of studies have recently begun to re-interpret the remains and ours provides a new analysis,” said lead author Professor Nicholas Saunders, from Bristol’s Department of Anthropology and Archaeology, in a statement.

“The goods found with the remains are a mix of foreign (non-Czech) items, such as the sword, axe and fire striker (a common piece of Viking equipment), and domestic objects, such as the bucket and the knives.”

Saunders noted that the sword is particularly noteworthy as it is the only one discovered in 1,500 early medieval graves at Prague Castle. “Perhaps he was a Slav from a neighbouring region, who had mastered Old Norse as well as Slavonic, or perhaps he regarded himself as a genuine Viking,” he said, adding that identities were complex in the medieval period.

Projects in other parts of Europe are also shedding fascinating new light on centuries-old burial sites.

An incredible grave in Sweden containing the skeleton of a Viking warrior, long thought to be male, was recently confirmed as female. The 10th-century grave, known as Bj. 581, was first discovered on the Swedish island of Bjorko in the late 19th century. Stunning artifacts found in the grave indicated that it belonged to a high-status Viking warrior, who, for over a century, was assumed to be male.

In 2017, however, experts published the results of a DNA analysis that revealed the skeleton was female. The amazing discovery garnered a great deal of attention and sparked plenty of debate.

In a paper published in the journal Antiquity, the researchers responded to critics of the original study, explaining that they analyzed the correct skeleton and that there was only one set of human remains in the grave.

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the stabbing death of a retired college administrator at the California State University, Fullerton campus, officials said Thursday.

Fullerton police Lt. John Radus told Fox News a person had been arrested in the death of Steven Keung Chan but declined to provide other details. Officials have scheduled a news conference for Thursday afternoon where they will release more information, he said.

Chan, 57, was found stabbed multiple times inside his Infiniti vehicle in a campus parking lot on Monday, the first day of fall semester classes.

Investigators said he apparently was targeted.

Police uncovered a backpack from underneath Chan’s car containing zip ties, wigs and other materials that could potentially be used as a disguise, which seemed to suggest the attack was not random and could have been an attempted abduction.

Sanders agrees to ‘Medicare-for-all’ change after union concerns

Westlake Legal Group 694940094001_6074600214001_6074602483001-vs Sanders agrees to 'Medicare-for-all' change after union concerns Paul Steinhauser fox-news/politics/executive/health-care fox-news/politics/2020-presidential-election fox-news/person/bernie-sanders fox-news/newsedge/politics fox news fnc/politics fnc article 7a91c75b-95f7-5a30-81d6-14c1f599d67d

Sen. Bernie Sanders is making changes to his signature policy proposal, “Medicare-for-all,” in order to address union concerns that a shift to single-payer health care could force members to give up hard-fought insurance plans for nothing in return.

According to the Vermont senator’s presidential campaign, the change would give union workers the ability to bargain for “wage increases” or other benefits to make up for any reductions in the cost of their health care plans.

SANDERS CALLS FOR DOUBLING UNION MEMBERSHIP, SCRAPPING ‘RIGHT-TO-WORK’ LAWS

“We’d call it an addition for unions,” Sanders campaign manager Faiz Shakir told Fox News on Thursday during a stop in Manchester, N.H.

But the Sanders campaign is pushing back against claims that the change amounts to a carve-out or concession for unions. And they’re insisting the change still won’t allow for private insurance to coexist alongside a government-run single-payer system.

Shakir emphasized that “unions have properly and rightly earned great victories on the health care front for their workers” before addressing the question that faced his campaign: “What do you do about the fact that you’re going to bring about Medicare-for-all, including union members, that are going to reduce the costs of health care for them?”

Shakir said that the Sanders plan will now allow union workers “to re-enter into contract negotiations … to say when the costs go down for you on health care, as they will, then those costs should be reapplied in the form of wage increases or other benefits to the workers and they shouldn’t be pocketed by employers. They’re doing well enough already.”

And he touted that “we need to make sure that over the course of transition to Medicare-for-all, that those cost savings are being applied in the form of wage increases. Workers have not seen wage increases for 40 to 50 years and one of the reasons for that – health care. Now you’re going to change the health care system and now they’re going to see wage increases.”

The campaign said that unions could renegotiate their contracts under the supervision of the National Labor Relations Board.

The announcement of the tweaking of the plan came Wednesday, as part of the senator’s wide-ranging proposal to double union membership and give workers the right to strike without the fear of their jobs being filled by replacement workers. His proposal also calls for ending so-called “right to work” laws favored by Republicans and decried by organized labor for weakening a union’s ability to negotiate contracts.

The progressive senator’s campaign is taking issue, meanwhile, with a Washington Post report on the agreement.

“This doesn’t change anything,” Shakir claimed, and pushed back on the report’s suggestion that the agreement would allow for private insurance.

During his 2016 bid for the Democratic nomination, the populist senator helped elevate the idea of a government-run Medicare-for-all system that would eliminate private insurance from the fringe to a mainstream issue among Democrats.

Now, many of Sanders’ rivals running for the Democratic nomination are also pushing single-payer plans. But the Sanders campaign argues that theirs is the purest form of Medicare-for-all.

And they’ve been critical of another top-tier contender – Sen. Kamala Harris of California – for allowing private insurance to co-exist with a government-run system in her proposal.

The Harris campaign took aim at Sanders on Wednesday amid reports on the union agreement. Communications director Lily Adams tweeted, “Oh how interesting. I thought no one was allowed to make any changes to Medicare for All plans at all ever.”

The Republican National Committee took aim at both Sanders and Harris, writing on Thursday that “at this point, Sanders and Harris should launch the International Brotherhood of Health Care Flip-Floppers union.”

Former Vice President Joe Biden – the front-runner in the 2020 Democratic nomination race – criticized Sanders and fellow progressive standard-bearer Sen. Elizabeth Warren over their support for Medicare-for-all during a speech Wednesday to organized labor at the Iowa AFL-CIO.

BIDEN JABS AT SANDERS, WARREN, OVER MEDICARE-FOR-ALL

Biden, the only top-tier contender who opposes the single-payer system, told the audience: “You’ve negotiated really hard for your benefits — with your union, with the employer. In my plan, you get to keep it. You don’t have to give it up.”

Sanders and Warren faced jabs during last month’s second round of Democratic presidential primary debates by some of the lower-tier candidates for their health care plans — with some arguing that union members would lose their current health care coverage under a single-payer system.

One of those critics made the same case in Iowa on Wednesday.

Speaking prior to Biden, former Rep. John Delaney of Maryland said that “a lot of workers in this country have worked real hard to get good health care, often through their union and many of them like it. And we should not be running on a policy of taking away that union health care which you’ve paid for and you’ve made sacrifices to get.”

Another candidate that blasted Sanders and Warren during the July debate over the issue was Rep. Tim Ryan of Ohio. He described the announcement by Sanders as a “concession.”

“I’m glad he made it,” Ryan told Fox News on Thursday.

Neither Sanders nor Warren specifically discussed Medicare-for-all during their speeches Wednesday to the Iowa union confab.

Asked why Sanders didn’t highlight his tweak his plan to allow unions to negotiate for higher wages, Shakir said, “There’s some conversations we’re attempting … to have privately with union leaders to get into the details of it so they have an opportunity to hear from him first, so that’s just a tactical matter. We are talking to a lot of union leaders.”

And he emphasized that “most of the unions in this country … are very supportive of Medicare-for-all. They just want to know what’s going to happen to those of us who’ve been negotiating and have gotten some health care changes.”

Sanders, speaking with reporters after his Wednesday speech, noted that “we are talking to the unions, obviously. You’re looking at perhaps the strongest pro-union member of the United States Congress; we’re going to work with unions on this issue.”

Fired KFC employee allegedly stabs coworker, walks to McDonald’s

A former KFC employee reportedly did not take getting fired well.

The suspect allegedly attempted to stab a manager at one of the fast-food chain’s locations in Indiana after receiving the bad news. When several employees attempted to intervene, one of them was apparently stabbed in the hand.

The suspect then left the KFC and reportedly walked to a nearby McDonald’s, where he was eventually picked up by police.

The Valparaiso Police Department posted about the incident on their Facebook page. According to them, the incident occurred around 4 p.m. on Wednesday. The post states that officers responded to the restaurant after receiving reports of “a male subject bleeding from his hand.”

Moser then stabbed a staff member, causing injury to his hand and arm.”

After leaving the restaurant, police claim that Moser slashed the tires of the manager’s car. He then apparently walked to a nearby McDonald’s, where he was taken into custody “without further incident.”

In a statement to Fox News, a spokesperson for KFC said, “There was an incident at this location yesterday afternoon. Fortunately, the employee who was injured was treated and released.”

According to the Valparaiso Police Department, Moser has been charged with aggravated battery causing serious bodily harm, intimidation with a deadly weapon, criminal mischief and possession of paraphernalia.

‘Bachelorette’ star breaks silence on ‘sex tape’ with Todd Chrisley’s daughter

The Bachelorette” star Robby Hayes spoke out about his alleged sex tape with Todd Chrisley‘s estranged daughter, Lindsie.

“We didn’t make a sex tape,” Hayes said on the “Housewives and Vanderpump” podcast on Wednesday night.

“I’m not sitting there with a camera aimed down and trying to get the angles,” Hayes said. “Like, we got caught on the security camera, basically. It was a puppy camera in her friend’s living room, the couch we crashed on. No consent from either end, which kind of debunks [the sex tape claim].”

TODD CHRISLEY ACCUSED OF EXTORTING DAUGHTER WITH SEX TAPE

Bobby also claimed that Todd had a longstanding issue with him and once gave him a hard time on the ACM Awards red carpet.

Lindsie reportedly went to police alleging that father Todd and brother Chase tried to blackmail her with the tape, threatening its release if she didn’t cover up their alleged tax evasion.

Hayes said of the extortion allegation, “We’re in the middle of dealing with it. I was just talking with [Lindsie] this past weekend in Atlanta, two days ago.”

Lindsie, meanwhile, told HLN’s “Morning Express” that she “never consented” to a sex tape and is mortified at her father’s alleged attempt to extort her with the footage and has not been in contact with them since, but said that she will still always love her family.

SAVANNAH CHRISLEY SPEAKS OUT AFTER TODD, JULIE’S INDICTMENT ON TAX EVASION AND FRAUD CHARGES

On his own podcast this weekend, Todd said of Lindsie, who he previously accused of being a party to the allegations plaguing him and wife Julie, “She will always be my daughter, that will never change,” Todd said. “She is my firstborn child, and she is loved, and this is her moment for her to say whatever she wants to say regardless of whether or not it’s true or not; she is forgiven. She is forgiven for what’s happened in the last week to 10 days. She is forgiven for what has happened in this investigation that she has contributed to. She’s forgiven for what she’s gonna do today, and tomorrow.”

Todd previously denied Lindsie’s allegations against him in a statement to Fox News.

TODD CHRISLEY’S DAUGHTER LINDSIE ALLEGEDLY CONCERNED FOR HER SAFETY AMID FAMILY SCANDAL

“It’s heartbreaking and shameful that these kinds of accusations have to be aired in public,” he said. “We have tried to keep Lindsie’s extramarital relationships with Robby Hayes and Josh Murray private for her sake since August of 2016. Sadly, for reasons we can only guess at, she ran to the sheriff’s office to accuse her brother of buying a sex tape of her and Robby, which was a complete lie, and now she’s telling more lies about me. Although our hearts are broken, Lindsie is our daughter and we will always love her.”

Murray previously told E! News of the claim, “Lindsie and I have been friends for years. I know Todd and his family are going through some tough times right now and I pray everything works out in their favor. They should probably focus on how not to be imprisoned for 30 years rather than spreading gossip to try and hurt their daughter. I truly believe they are good people and I wish them the best in however they choose to go about their actions.”

If convicted of all counts, the reality personalities would face up to 30 years each behind bars.

The family pinned the allegations on a disgruntled former employee whom they accused of stealing from them before his firing. There was initial speculation that the family was allegedly extorting Lindsie in connection with the tax evasion charges, but she has denied any involvement.

Chase Chrisley, meanwhile, was hit with a nearly $17,000 tax lien for allegedly not paying income taxes in 2014. A rep for the family didn’t comment on the lien allegations, but a source close to the family told Fox News, “The Chrisleys’ accountant in New York doesn’t know anything about any [Internal Revenue Service] lien on Chase and says he owes nothing for 2014.”

A rep for Todd Chrisley did not immediately return Fox News’ request for comment.

Conan O’Brien calls Property Brothers for tips on how to buy, fix up Greenland for Trump

President Donald Trump made headlines last week after he said he wanted to buy Greenland from Denmark.

The idea didn’t go over well with Denmark’s prime minister, who called the proposition “absurd.” After hearing that, Trump called off his upcoming visit to the country, which angered Denmark, so Trump called its PM “nasty.”

“So now the whole thing is a big f—ing mess,” said late-night host Conan O’Brien, while recapping the events on Wednesday night’s episode of “Conan.”

CONAN O’BRIEN VOWS TO NEGOTIATE TRUMP’S GREENLAND DEAL, OFFERS UP FLORIDA

“Everyone’s mad at everybody over this initial idea,” O’Brien added, but “President Trump knows real estate if he knows anything,” and “all this angry back-and-forth is just classic haggling over a real estate purchase — this is what people do. Every side plays hard to get, right?”

‘PROPERTY BROTHERS’ DREW AND JONATHAN SCOTT: 10 THINGS YOU DIDN’T KNOW

So, O’Brien offered his services to the President. He will be traveling to Greenland to “kick the tires on this deal, and I’m gonna get this deal done” as part of his series “Conan Without Borders.”

And to maks sure “I’m getting the U.S. a good deal” he consulted two top real estate and home renovation experts, HGTV “Property Brothers” Drew and Jonathan Scott, who had a few ideas they wanted to share.

Drew liked the location — “It’s near Canada and Iceland. They’re both pretty quiet,” he said.

While Jonathan had some renovation ideas, “I would knock out this glacier just to get a more open concept plan and add a kitchen island” and “maybe knock out this mountain to get more natural light coming in from the north side.”

Drew had one more idea: “If you buy Greenland, buy Iceland as well. It would make a terrific mother-in-law suite.”
