Lori Loughlin ‘aware’ of Felicity Huffman sentence, regrets not taking plea deal: report

Lori Loughlin may have second thoughts about pleading not guilty in the college admissions scandal following Felicity Huffman‘s 14-day prison sentence.

A source close to Loughlin told People that the former “Fuller House” star was “aware of Felicity’s sentence and is processing what that means for her.” The insider added of Huffman’s sentencing date Friday, “This has been a rough day. Lori is going to move forward as best as she can, but now she has a little more clarity about what will happen next.”

LORI LOUGHLIN, MOSSIMO GIANNULLI’S OPTIONS ARE ‘LIMITED’ AFTER PLEADING NOT GUILTY IN COLLEGE SCAM

Huffman, 56, was sentenced to 14 days in prison after she pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud in May. She confessed to paying an admissions consultant $15,000 to have a proctor correct her older daughter’s answers on the SAT. She wrote that she’d considered the same for her younger daughter but decided against it.

FELICITY HUFFMAN ON COLLEGE SCAM: ‘NO EXCUSES OR JUSTIFICATIONS’

A judge also ordered Huffman to perform 250 hours of community service and pay a $30,000 fine.

Loughlin, 55, and husband Mossimo Giannulli were accused of paying $500,000 to admissions scam mastermind William “Rick” Singer to get their daughters Olivia Jade and Isabella recruited onto the USC crew team despite neither girl ever being a rower. USC put the girls’ enrollment statuses on hold amid an internal investigation into the scandal.

LORI LOUGHLIN WAS ‘OBSESSED’ WITH GETTING DAUGHTERS INTO USC, REPORT CLAIMS

The pair rejected the plea deal that other parents allegedly involved in the case — including Huffman — accepted. Giannulli, 56, and Loughlin then were hit with additional charges of money laundering and conspiracy and would face up to 40 years behind bars if convicted on all charges.

COLLEGE ADMISSIONS SCANDAL COMING TO TV

“If she’s found guilty, she will go to jail; that is clear. And if another deal is offered to her, which I don’t think it will be, she will go to jail,” the source said.

“Her only chance of avoiding jail is to beat these charges. Lori is a smart woman; she understands that. She’s scared and upset, but she’s resolved to be strong and to fight this. She will do what she has to do to protect herself and her family.”

LORI LOUGHLIN, MOSSIMO GIANNULLI’S LAWYERS SLAM ‘BASELESS ALLEGATIONS’ OF CONFLICT OF INTEREST

The source admitted that Loughlin “regrets” not taking the plea agreement when prosecutors initially offered it but insisted Loughlin had no idea she did anything illegal when making the payments to Singer’s Key Worldwide Foundation.

“She didn’t understand the entire nature of the charges against her, and she wasn’t even sure if or how she had broken the law. It was very early, and she didn’t have all the information that she has now,” the source said. “Based on what she understood at the time, she made the best choice for herself. Now there is no deal on the table, and she has to have faith that the courts and the prosecution will move fairly and not make an example out of her.”

MOSSIMO GIANNULLI LIED TO PARENTS ABOUT USC ENROLLMENT, TOOK THEIR TUITION CASH

Legal experts previously told Fox News that Loughlin’s and Giannulli’s strategy — essentially pleading ignorance to the scam — may not hold up in court.

“The government doesn’t have to prove that Loughlin and Giannulli knew what the payments were used for,” said attorney Neama Rahmani. “The fraudulent application to USC is enough to support the conspiracy charges. And there is more than enough circumstantial evidence to prove that they knew the payments were for an illicit or unlawful purpose.”

LORI LOUGHLIN REPORTEDLY KEEPING CLOSE EYE ON FELICITY HUFFMAN’S CASE, FEARS BEING ‘PENALIZED FOR HER FAME’ IN COLLEGE ADMISSIONS SCANDAL

What may work in Loughlin’s favor: the decision from the judge in Huffman’s case not to throw the book at the “Desperate Housewives” star because of her fame — though it may end up differently for Loughlin and Giannulli, who didn’t immediately take responsibility or show remorse for their alleged actions.

U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani told a tearful Huffman during her sentencing, “I think this is the right sentence here. You can move forward and rebuild your life after this. Without this sentence, I think the community around you would ask why you got away with this.”

Fire erupts on field before game between Colts and Titans in Tennessee

A game between the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans got off to a scorching start as a large fire erupted at Nissan Stadium in Nashville just before both teams were set to play.

A piece of pyrotechnics equipment designed to shoot flames during introductions ignited near the sidelines where Titans players usually enter the field, making for a crazy scene on Sunday afternoon just prior to the singing of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

Gen. Jeff Harrigan: The US Air Force succeeds by doing THIS

Westlake Legal Group 694940094001_6086259618001_6086258090001-vs Gen. Jeff Harrigan: The US Air Force succeeds by doing THIS Jeff Harrigian fox-news/us/military/air-force fox-news/tech/topics/us-air-force fox-news/politics/executive/national-security fox-news/opinion fox news fnc/opinion fnc article 7444fc94-805a-574f-ac6f-bc290b166d12

I was recently in Kenya working with air force leaders from 35 African nations, and while there I read an African proverb that resonated strongly with me. It stated: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” This could not be truer today in how the U.S. Air Force operates on the European and African continents.

In an area of operations that covers 104 nations, it means having strong, trusted and reliable relationships. This is more important than ever, because trust is something that cannot be surged, it is built over time and based on delivering on your word.

This year, as we celebrate the U.S. Air Force’s 72nd birthday, I am reminded of how strong partnerships and teamwork have contributed to the service’s success and more importantly as a joint force, and a nation. The only way we can successfully tackle the complex challenges of today is if we commit to moving forward together. We have the world’s premier Air Force but we could not successfully “fly, fight and win” without the mindset of unity and teamwork.

AIR FORCE AND DARPA PREPARE TO SHOOT NEW HYPERSONIC WEAPON

This fundamental concept was taught to me early in my Air Force career. It is foundational to what we do. As a cadet at the Air Force Academy I was a member of the Wings of Blue parachute team and quickly learned how teamwork is the foundation of excellence. Our team ate, slept and trained together, forging trust and unbreakable bonds that remain today. These bonds and ability to rely on one another have been part of every successful team I’ve served on.

During my two years as the commander of U.S. Air Force Central Command (AFCENT), our coalition team delivered results in a complex, pressurized environment with lives on the line. Every nation brought an important capability, all underpinning our success. The key components to our coalition were the people, the relationships and trust that was cultivated on a daily basis on the battlefield.

More from Opinion

I share this because the Air Force of today operates in an environment where a strong architecture of allies and partners is critical to our success — we rely on partnerships that we’ve cultivated over the years to create a strong team of willing partners that can prevail in an era of global power competition. We cannot go at it alone; we must work with allies and partners around the world to degrade and defeat malign influences.

As airmen, we speak a common language that facilitates operating at speed over vast distances. This is critical to competing in today’s security environment. This common language did not occur by happenstance. It grew from the strength of shared experiences in training and in combat. Being a good wingman ensures that bad actors who would seek to disrupt, dismantle and destroy the global world order will never succeed because we are ready, willing and working together to ensure that never happens.

Though we have the ability to surge aircraft and generate combat power at a moment’s notice, what we can’t surge is trust. Strong relationships and partnerships are an investment in security and having a global presence demonstrates that we are committed and have skin in the game. Today’s complex security environment, focused on what is referred to as great power competition, requires us to foster, strengthen and build strategic relationships across the European and African continents. We are doing just that.

In Europe it is imperative that we continue to work with our NATO allies and partners to ensure our forward presence and ability to rapidly deploy capabilities into the theater. Together we are an alliance that has the capability to deter potential adversaries and defend in all domains, ensuring our collective security. Our mission is to provide the credible combat airpower needed to deter war and to protect the security of our nations. Should deterrence fail, however, rest assured we are prepared to fight and win.

While the demand to enhance and strengthen partnerships in Europe continues, U.S. Air Forces Africa is focused on helping partners build capabilities designed to bolster security, stability, and ultimately prosperity. We are actively strengthening key relationships and offering assistance on the continent that support our partners’ defense capabilities, ability to counter transnational threats while offering opportunities for political and economic development.

Our determined African partners fight terrorism while working to build regional self-reliance and security. We are partnering with other countries to reduce the impact of malign influences to position African partners for a better future.

We are motivated and inspired by the dedication and commitment our partners in Africa are showing to developing their respective air forces capacity. This investment will produce more capable and professional militaries that contribute to greater security and stability in Africa and demonstrates our commitment to pursuing mutual aims.

I am extremely optimistic about what the future holds in both Europe and Africa. The strong military relationships we have developed between our respective air forces bolster our collective readiness, enhances our deterrence capabilities and leverages partnership capacity, security and stability. Today as we stand together, I am confident we will lead the way in answering the challenges in a very complex global security environment.

He’s ruining their zen.

Russell Simmons might be trying to make a comeback —  after being dragged through the mud in the #MeToo movement amid 12 accusations of rape and sexual misconduct — but a Manhattan yoga studio says he’s nothing but a downward-facing dog.

RUSSELL SIMMONS ACCUSED OF RAPE BY FOUR WOMEN

On Thursday, Modo Yoga NYC emailed Russell Simmons and asked him to steer clear of their West Village fitness studio.

The former music and fashion mogul, who relocated to Bali in February 2018 as allegations of sexual misconduct piled up, had attended classes at Modo while he was in Manhattan the past few weeks.

“The management invited me, and then said that my presence had ‘triggered some members,’ ” Simmons told The Post from Bali.

The owners of Modo Yoga responded: “We do not pass judgment, gossip or comment on any of our students . . . However, when we receive complaints from students who are uncomfortable because of another student’s alleged conduct outside of Modo, we are put in a difficult position.”

“I’m deeply disappointed and hurt by it,” Simmons said. “Guilty by accusation, I don’t believe is a good way to go forward.”

Bridezilla makes dangerous demand of her maid of honor: ‘I’m going to be stumbling around like a blind idiot’

One bride-to-be apparently doesn’t understand why people wear glasses.

While it’s normal for brides to make requests to their bridesmaids about how they look during the ceremony, this might be taking things too far. According to a very stressed out maid of honor, the bride-to-be not only demanded that she pay for hair extensions, but also demanded that the maid of honor keep her glasses off during the ceremony and reception.

The maid of honor, who said she’s “blind as a bat,” posted her story on Reddit. According to her, after an already stressful engagement, reportedly full of ‘bridal outrage’ moments, the bride-to-be recently came to her with some unusual (and potentially dangerous) requests.

The maid of honor took to Reddit to complain, “I don’t want to ‘ruin’ her wedding by wearing my glasses, but what in the world am I going to do?! I’m going to be stumbling around like a blind idiot.” (iStock, File)

According to the story, “The bride has asked me to add extensions in my hair, as I have a Bob cut (at my own expense of course), and demanded that I do NOT wear my glasses during the event.”

The maid of honor claimed she already had spent a lot of money on her friend’s wedding and her insurance plan wouldn’t cover an extra eye doctor appointment. Since she apparently didn’t have contact lenses already, she had to decide on wearing glasses and upsetting the bride or not being able to see all day. “How am I supposed to fix her train at the altar,” she asked, “and read my speech?”

The story continued, “I don’t want to ‘ruin’ her wedding by wearing my glasses, but what in the world am I going to do?! I’m going to be stumbling around like a blind idiot.”

Unfortunately, when she took her issues to the bride-to-be, the response wasn’t what she was hoping to hear. “When I explained this to her, she quickly pointed out that all of our dresses have pockets,” the post says. “If I need to find the restroom, I can briefly slide them on to see where I’m going but to be sure and remove them, before exiting as a photographer may be in the area taking photos. I really wish I had backed out of this mess the first time the fiancé moved out. But I’m stuck now.”

The comments on Reddit were, not surprisingly, in favor of the maid of honor wearing her glasses.

BRIDE ALLEGEDLY ASKS CANCER-STRICKEN BRIDESMAID TO PAY EXTRA AND WEAR WIG

As one user explained, “This is ridiculous. Tell her you are wearing your glasses, and if you wanted longer hair, you would have it already. She knew what you looked like when she asked you to be in the wedding. Tell her if that is a problem, she will need to find a replacement.”

Another user added, “You are allowed boundaries here. I don’t care if she’s a bride or Queen Elizabeth. What she’s asking isn’t reasonable or normal.”

Others joined in to explain that despite how she felt, she actually wasn’t stuck. “Glasses. But also, sunken cost fallacy,” one user wrote.

“If she’s really that upset about you being able to see (!), I would respectfully bow out. The whole thing sounds like a hot mess but I can’t imagine asking my best friend to put themselves in harm’s way for some photographs. Not wearing them is a hazard and possibly adding heels to that mix sounds like an accident just waiting to happen.”

Another user agreed, posting, “You’re not stuck. You are an adult and can back out at any time. Tell her it’s either your hair as-is and your glasses, or you are out as MOH. She’s being ridiculous, especially for a woman of her age.”

Another user simply posted, “Wear your glasses.”

California man arrested after cops find him unconscious next to dead infant, authorities say

Authorities in northern California say they have arrested a 29-year-old man who they found unconscious in a home Saturday afternoon with a 13-month-old baby at his side.

Police responded to a home in Santa Rosa – about 60 miles north of San Francisco – around 12:50 p.m. on Saturday. They found a man they identified as Patrick Oneill and an infant lying next to him on the floor of a bedroom. The baby was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said there were no signs of “physical violence” but they found “signs of recent drug use next to where the child was discovered.” It was unclear what role, if any, drugs played in the baby’s death.

Oneill was taken to a hospital with “life-threatening injuries,” police said. He is expected to be booked into the Sonoma County Jail on a charge of suspicion of murder after his release from the hospital, they said.

New Mexico man accused of sending nude photos of woman who dumped him

A New Mexico man has been accused of sending nude photos of a woman who dumped him to her friends and relatives, according to a report.

Anthony Sandy, 23, of Albuquerque, was jailed after being charged with extortion, stalking, voyeurism and unauthorized distribution of sensitive images, the Farmington Daily Times reported Saturday.

He wasn’t represented by a lawyer as of Friday, the paper reported.

The arrest affidavit says the woman detailed to Farmington police how, after the break-up, Sandy threatened to send nude photos of her to her friends and relatives if she did not respond to his phone and Facebook messages, according to the paper.

Court documents say he sent nude photos to nine of the woman’s friends and relatives without her consent or knowledge, the paper reported.

Atlanta Braves’ Culberson suffers facial fractures after taking pitch to face on bunt attempt, team says

Atlanta Braves utility player Charlie Culberson suffered “multiple facial fractures” after a 91 mph pitch struck him in the face during a bunt attempt in Saturday’s playoff-clinching win over the Washington Nationals, the team announced.

The 30-year-old had been cleared to travel back to Atlanta, where team doctors will assess the next steps in his treatment, the Braves said Sunday. There was no mention on when he could return to the field.

The scary moment came during the seventh inning of the 10-1 victory at Nationals Park. With the game tied 1-1, Culberson pinch hit for starting pitcher Mike Foltynewicz with two on and no out when Washington reliever Fernando Rodney’s first-pitch fastball struck him on the right cheekbone.

Culberson fell backward immediately on impact. He stayed down holding his face until trainers helped him to his feet. He gave a thumbs-up as he was carted off the field with a towel pressed to his face and taken to a hospital.

“It was very tough to see that. He’s a phenomenal human being. One of the best teammates you could have,” Foltynewicz said. “I look up to him as a father. He actually has three kids. It’s his kid’s birthday today, one of them. I want to be just like him as a father.”

The incident included some controversy after crew chief Tim Timmons called the pitch a strike since Culberson squared up to bunt. Atlanta manager Brian Snitker launched into a profanity-fueled tirade against Timmons, shouting “Shame on you!” Snitker was promptly ejected, his fourth this season.

“You can’t bunt when the ball is coming at your face,” a more restrained Snitker told reporters after the game. “That just sounds like … My God. I am not going to even get into that. I am sitting there looking at this guy’s pooling blood on the ground. And I am like, ‘Come on.'”

The Braves seemed to rally behind their fallen teammate on back-to-back doubles from Ronald Acuña Jr. and Ozzie Albies that drove in runs and sent the Nationals’ bullpen spiraling into a meltdown. The Washington bullpen gave up nine runs over the final four innings.

The win clinched the Braves’ (93-57) first consecutive postseason spot since 2012-13, but the clubhouse afterward was subdued as the team remained concerned over their utility man.

McCarthy promises accountability as Barr reviews IG’s FISA report: ‘The closest we’ve ever seen to a coup’

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., promised that guilty parties will be held accountable after Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz releases his report on the FBI’s alleged abuse of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) in the Russia investigation, and predicted that former bureau leaders James Comey and Andrew McCabe will face criminal charges after what he described as an attempted “coup” to take down President Trump.

The report will address concerns with whether or not the FBI acted improperly in obtaining a FISA warrant to monitor former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page in the early stages of their investigation of Russian election interference and possible Trump campaign connections. The Inspector General’s office has already turned over a draft of its findings to Attorney General Bill Barr, and a final report is expected in the near future.

DOJ WATCHDOG SUBMITS DRAFT REPORT ON ALLEGED FISA ABUSES TO BARR

“We came the closest ever to this country having a coup, and now we need accountability,” McCarthy told Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.” “I respect this attorney general so greatly, that the way he has handled this, he believes in accountability, but more importantly, he believes in the rule of law.”

When asked if there will really be accountability, McCarthy promised, “Yes.”

James Comey and Andrew McCabe, who were the director and deputy director of the FBI when the Russia probe began, have been the subjects of separate IG investigations, and McCarthy believes they will both face consequences.

“We will see an indictment,” he said of McCabe, who is facing the prospect of federal charges after Horowitz faulted him in a separate inquiry over statements he made during a Hillary Clinton-related investigation. The review found that McCabe “lacked candor” when talking with investigators, but the former FBI official has denied wrongdoing. Washington, D.C., U.S. Attorney Jessie Liu recommended charges against McCabe after the DOJ rejected his appeal.

Comey was chastised in a recent report from Horowitz that discussed how Comey improperly maintained records of his conversations with President Trump, and leaked sensitive information about the investigation of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. While the report found that Comey violated department policy, the DOJ opted not to press charges. McCarthy believes that there will be more to come for Comey.

“In the end, I do not believe that Jim Comey will get off,” McCarthy predicted, adding, “Anyone that has had any association with trying to create this coup should be held accountable.”

After President Trump fired Comey in May 2017, McCabe became acting director of the FBI. McCabe’s tenure at the FBI came to an end in March 2018 when then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions fired him in the wake of the IG report of his misstatements.

Republicans claim that the FBI, under Comey and McCabe’s leadership, misrepresented key information in applying for the FISA warrant for Page in October 2016 — and three subsequent renewals — and improperly relied on an unverified dossier compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele.

Horowitz’s team has questioned why the FBI considered Steele a credible source, and why the bureau seemed to use news reports to bolster Steele’s credibility.

Fox News’ Alex Pappas, Catherine Herridge, and Jake Gibson contributed to this report.
