Intruder shot and killed at Anderson Air Force Base in Guam after stabbing, attacking base security

An intruder was shot and killed at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam on Thursday after crashing a car into barriers there, evading authorities for hours, and later attacking and stabbing a Defense Department Security Forces member while being apprehended, the base said.

The unidentified gate runner was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:52 a.m. local time while being medically treated, Anderson Air Force Base said in a statement on Facebook.

“While apprehending a suspect, our defenders were compelled to use lethal force for their own defense, resulting in the death of the suspect,” 36th Wing Cmdr. Brig. Gen. Gentry Boswell said. “We value the importance of every life and are thankful for the courage our defenders display in the safe conduct of their duties protecting our personnel and families.”

The suspect had been involved in a high-speed car chase and attempted to flee on foot while evading Guam police on Wednesday night.

The suspect crashed into base barriers at 7:35 p.m. on Wednesday and attempted to escape in the jungle before being located by the security forces team and local police the next morning, the base said.

“At approximately 6:35 a.m. local time, the search for the suspect involved in a high-speed police chase last night with Guam Police Department ended when he was located by a team of security forces members here,” the base said in another statement on Facebook. “The individual crashed into the barriers on Andersen AFB and attempted to flee on foot.”

“During apprehension, the suspect responded aggressively and stabbed a Department of Defense civilian security forces member,” the base reported. “The suspect was subsequently shot by base security during the altercation.”

The base initially reported that the suspect was transported to a civilian hospital.

“Our top priority is to ensure the safety of Team Andersen, our service members and families,” Boswell said. “We are proud of our partnerships in place and for the swift actions taken by our security forces members in conjunction with local law enforcement.”

The base had been put on lockdown earlier Thursday,  around 4 a.m. local time, as the manhunt continued.

“Andersen AFB is in a base-wide lockdown. All base personnel implement lockdown procedures and immediately take shelter,” the base said in a Facebook post. “Remain indoors and keep all entryways locked. This is not an exercise!”

The base reported that the suspect was spotted on base at 6:35 a.m. local time, and “36th Security Forces Squadron initiated base lockdown procedures and began the search for the suspect” along with the Guam police.

San Francisco 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel took part in an expensive tradition foisted upon rookies on Wednesday night, shelling out $3,700 for the team’s dinner at a steakhouse.

The team’s receiver unit gathered at Shanahan’s Steakhouse in Denver where it was practicing for Monday’s exhibition game against the Broncos, SFGate.com reported. The restaurant is owned by Mike Shanahan, the father of 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan.

5 NFL PLAYERS WHO HAVE HAD DRAMATIC WEIGHT LOSS AFTER RETIREMENT

The “rookie dinner” is apparently a tradition, in which newbies are stuck with an expensive bill by veteran players, usually to the tune of thousands of dollars. (The rookie receiver should have been able to manage the tab, despite its steepness: He’s slated to earn $7.7 million over four years.)

Samuel posted the bill to Instagram: $3,713.58. The video was spotted and posted to Twitter by Alex Tran of Niners Nation.

“Lord. Glad I don’t have to do this again. Rookie duties,” Samuel’s caption read.

The check reflected 64 items for 10 guests, which included two orders of the seafood tower — $310 each — $54 for Dungeness crab; $122 for crab legs; $42 for crab cakes; $52.50 for coco shrimp; and $36 for lobster mac and cheese, according to the news site.

Paying for team dinners has been one of the more common hazing rituals in many a sport. Some rookies are also called upon to carry the bags of their veteran teammates and perform other nominal duties

Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant got stuck with a $55,000 dinner tab during his first season. The tab reportedly included a $1,300 shot of Cognac.

The experience left the future star athlete upset. “I paid $55,000 for a dinner, and it struck me the wrong way,” he told Fox Sports 1’s “Back Of The Shop.” “I could’ve easily went off on every last one of them, but I didn’t. I kept myself together, and I wanted to change that.”

US Attorney slams Philadelphia DA, says he’ll give ‘adult supervision’ after police shootout

The U.S. attorney in Philadelphia, William McSwain, slammed city District Attorney Larry Krasner Thursday, imploring him to “stop making excuses for criminals” and to give strong consideration to attempted murder charges for the suspect who wounded six police officers during a nearly eight-hour-long shootout that began on Wednesday afternoon.

Although the incident remains under investigation, McSwain, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, said at a news conference that his office is “going to be providing some adult supervision” to Krasner’s to determine what charges the suspect should face.

PHILADELPHIA SUSPECT IN CUSTODY AFTER HOURS-LONG ORDEAL THAT LEFT 6 OFFICERS WOUNDED

McSwain blamed Krasner for fostering what he called an environment of “disrespect for law enforcement” that emboldened the gunman to open fire at officers from the Philadelphia Police Department’s Narcotics Strike Force who were attempting to serve a warrant in the Nicetown neighborhood.

“Where does such disrespect come from?” McSwain said. “It started with chants at the DA’s victory party- chants of ‘F— the police’ and ‘No good cops in a racist system.’

McSwain called Krasner’s rhetoric “the worst kinds of slander against law enforcement,” and added, “the DA routinely calls police and prosecutors corrupt and racist, even ‘war criminals’ that he compares to Nazis.”

“We have plenty of criminal laws in this City- but what we don’t have is robust enforcement by the District Attorney,” said McSwain, a former Marine whom President Trump appointed as district attorney in April of last year.

At a separate news conference earlier Thursday, Krasner attempted to point the finger at the city’s police union and previous police commissioners in an attempt to deflect heat about why Maurice Hill, the suspected gunman who had a long rap sheet of prior criminal offenses, was out on the streets.

“I don’t think it’s fair to expect some level of perfect knowledge on the part of police or prosecutors but it is obvious looking at the actions taken here that this was someone who needed to be off the streets,” Krasner said.

PHILADELPHIA POLICE PELTED WITH OBJECTS, TAUNTED DURING HARROWING SHOOTOUT, STANDOFF: REPORTS

Krasner said it was “pretty obvious” that Hill would face charges including attempted murder, aggravated assault in the first degree, and other offenses related to firearm and drug possession, as well as possible conspiracy, although charges have not been yet been brought due to the ongoing investigation.

Two officers were barricaded in a multi-family home with several hostages as the gunman fired hundreds of rounds of ammunition through the ceiling of the house and out the windows at responding officers from multiple law enforcement agencies, striking SWAT vehicles and neighboring homes, according to police.

Those officers and the hostages later were freed, apparently unharmed.

Six officers were shot and rushed to Temple University Hospital and Einstein Hosptial where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries and released the same night.

Two other officers, including a police sergeant, were injured in an accident related to the emergency response and were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The gunman was armed with a semi-automatic rifle and several handguns, officials told Fox News.

“It is very troubling that somebody like this was able to do what he did last night,” McSwain said.

Sen. Martha McSally, R-Ariz., accused Reps. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., of pushing “dangerous” ideas about Israel Thursday and called on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., to push back against their rhetoric.

“Their actions and their words have been dangerous and their anti-Semitism, their support to the BDS movement — I mean they personally led an effort to ensure the House of Representatives couldn’t pass a bill to condemn anti-Semitism,” McSally told guest host Charles Payne on “Your World.”

PELOSI CALLS DECISION TO BAN ‘SQUAD’ MEMBERS ‘BENEATH THE DIGNITY’ OF ISRAEL

“This is the wrong direction,” McSally added. “We need to stand closely with Israel and not allow their dangerous ideas to be fueling any of the rhetoric that is against the Jewish people against Israel and supporting the economic BDS [Boycott, Divest, Sanction] movement and others.”

Pelosi said Thursday that both President Trump and the Israeli government debased their offices when they pushed back on plans by the two freshman congresswomen to visit the Middle Eastern ally.

“Israel’s denial of entry to Congresswomen Tlaib and Omar is a sign of weakness, and beneath the dignity of the great state of Israel,” Pelosi said.

McSally told Payne that she hoped Pelosi would stand up against Omar and Tlaib, call out their “dangerous rhetoric,” and support Israel.

McSally also discussed her proposed legislation that would make “domestic terrorism” a federal crime.

“This bill would actually make it a crime — just like international terrorism –and allow us to bring full justice and give more tools to our law enforcement for people who take these acts of violence,” she said.

Her comments followed a mass shooting in El Paso, Texas earlier this month carried out by a gunman who reportedly expressed racist and white supremacist views.

Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh supported Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to block Reps. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., from entering his country, calling the congresswomen “anti-Semites.”

“You have two women who are out of control in their hatred for Israel and Jewish people. It’s their lifeblood. Before they became elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, these women grew up hating Jews. They grew up as anti-Semites,” Limbaugh said on his radio show Thursday.

ISRAEL BLOCKS OMAR, TLAIB FROM ENTERING COUNTRY AMID PRESSURE FROM TRUMP

Israeli officials Thursday blocked the congresswomen from entering the country as part of a planned visit, a reversal that came amid concerns about their support for boycotts of Israel.

Democratic lawmakers in Washington spoke out against the decision, with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi calling it a “sign of weakness” and Omar accusing Israel of implementing “Trump’s Muslim ban.”

More from Fox News Media

Limbaugh argued that “no good” could come from the visit and that Israel had a right to determine who is allowed to cross its borders.

“What good could possibly come of these people showing up to showboat in Israel with a duly sycophantic media in tow? What possible good could it have done?” Limbaugh asked.  “Israel is making a decision in its own best interests here and they are entitled to this.  Just as we are in charge of who gets into our country, so is Israel and every other country in charge of who gets in.”

The radio host blasted the congresswomen for supporting Palestinians.

“They openly support the Palestinians who want there to be no Israel. Omar and Tlaib openly support whatever will happen to replace Israel with Palestine, Palestinians, and Israelis with nowhere to go but the Mediterranean Sea,” Limbaugh said.

Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro claimed Thursday that Israel made an error in judgment by barring Rep. Ilhan Omar D-Minn., and Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., from visiting the Jewish state and said the Israeli government played right into the lawmakers’ hands.

“Is this a smart move by Israel? No. It is a very not smart move by Israel,” Shapiro said on his eponymous radio program Thursday.

“If Omar and Tlaib had just gone to Israel and then they had done their little propaganda tour about how Israel is evil and shouldn’t exist — then their ten fans would cheer and everybody else would sigh and roll their eyes,” Shapiro said. “This is actually giving Omar and Tlaib what they want in terms of PR so they can falsely claim that Israel doesn’t tolerate dissent.”

KATIE PAVLICH SAYS TLAIB AND OMAR PURPOSELY TIMED ISRAEL TRIP TO CAUSE CONTROVERSY

Israel announced earlier Thursday they would be barring Omar and Tlaib from entering the country, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying the lawmakers’ itinerary “reveals that the sole purpose of their visit is to harm Israel and increase incitement against it.”

President Trump expressed his dismay over the potential visit on Twitter shortly before the decision was announced and urged the lawmakers’ constituents to vote the two women out of office.

“It would show great weakness if Israel allowed Rep. Omar and Rep.Tlaib to visit. They hate Israel & all Jewish people, & there is nothing that can be said or done to change their minds. Minnesota and Michigan will have a hard time putting them back in office. They are a disgrace!” wrote Trump, who added, “Representatives Omar and Tlaib are the face of the Democrat Party, and they HATE Israel!”

Shapiro claimed Israel had given Omar and Tlaib the press coverage they wanted by rejecting their request and said it allows the Democrats and their supporters to paint Israel as being close-minded and intolerant.

“On an intellectual and moral level, they have no duty to bring in Omar and Tlaib. On a PR level, it’s a big mistake,” he said. “It’s a PR blunder for them to give Omar and Tlaib what they want, which is to make the state of Israel look intolerant.”

National Border Patrol Council official disgusted by attack on ICE facility

Vice President of the National Border Patrol Council Art Del Cueto said Thursday a video of an attack on an ICE facility was incited by “lies” and “rhetoric” about what officers do.

“Disgusting. It’s disgusting to see something like that and I think it’s been triggered by way too many individuals that have had a platform to speak against the men and women that are trying to defend our nation’s borders, the law enforcement communities. I mean that’s where it comes from,” Del Cueto told “America’s Newsroom.”

The video, exclusively obtained by Fox News, shows a man armed with guns and explosives attacking an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Tacoma, Wash. last month.

“There was a recent article that attacked various reporters from Fox. Attacked Fox News and named me on there as well, saying that we were responsible for some of these attacks that happened in El Paso,” Del Cueto said.

HOMAN SHARES NEW VIDEO ON ICE FACILITY ATTACK: RESULTS OF ‘HATEFUL RHETORIC’ FROM AOC’S ‘SQUAD; 2020 DEMS

“What was that based on? That was based on us talking about actual facts and the facts we spoke about is simple. When you have individuals in large quantities that enter another country by force or illegal, that is an invasion, I stand on these words.”

Del Cueto criticized some of the rhetoric about ICE, saying it was “lies” and the “infighting” needs to stop. Former ICE director Tom Homan said that the “hateful rhetoric” from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY, is having a negative impact on ICE employees.

Del Cueto explained his position further about the “lies” about border patrol agents he says are just “following the law.”

“They’ve been lying about it, calling them concentration camps, comparing the individuals that are out there wearing the uniform to defend our nation’s borders are Nazis. that’s where it comes from,” Cueto said.

“If we’re going to be attacked for speaking the truth then we have to call it like it is and the individuals that are inciting these attacks need to be called out also and they’re doing it based on lies and that’s the problem,” he said.

The concerts scheduled for Aug. 13, 15, 16, 18 and 19, have been postponed, with dates to be determined. Ticket buyers will have their tickets transferred to the corresponding rescheduled date, or can request a refund by emailing info@lprnyc.com by 5 p.m. ET on August 30, 2019.

Cardiologist Jason Song, MD of Lenox Hill Hospital, treated the singer and issued the following statement:

“Mr. Murphy was admitted for treatment of a myocardial infarction. He had two stents placed in his right coronary artery and was started on medications to manage his heart condition. Due to HIPAA regulations we cannot reveal further details of his condition. He is still in the hospital for continued monitoring of his condition.”

In a statement, Murphy’s family said: “We would like to thank the fans for their undying support and hope that Peter will be back on stage with a refreshed heart, stronger than before!”

The staff of Le Poisson Rouge said in a statement, “All of us at LPR are devastated by this news. Peter’s performance and presence over the past twelve days has been amazing – both onstage and off. We wish Peter a swift and full recovery and look forward to his successful return to LPR.”

Brooke Goldstein: Israel smart about Omar, Tlaib – They are enemies of the Jewish state

Israel was wise to deny entry Thursday to Reps. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan. These freshmen Democratic congresswomen have built their brands on delegitimizing the Jewish state and working towards its destruction and would have used a visit to Israel to give themselves an international platform to spew their hate.

These are not good-faith actors, earnestly seeking to visit the Holy Land and learn about its people, history and culture. If their intention was to truly see the facts on the ground for what they are, they could have easily joined 72 of their fellow House members who visited Israel last week as part of a congressional delegation.

Omar and Tlaib were invited to be part of that delegation by the leadership of the House Democratic Caucus. But the pair ruled this out, instead choosing to plan their own trip to advance their anti-Israel and anti-Semitic political agenda.

ILHAN OMAR ACCUSES NETANYAHU OF IMPOSING ‘MUSLIM BAN’ AS DEMS DECRY DECISION TO BLOCK ISRAEL VISIT

Omar and Tlaib’s proposed itinerary read like a laundry list of provocative actions designed to intentionally stoke ethnic and religious tensions. Their rumored demand to pray alongside leaders from the Palestinian Authority at the Temple Mount – Judaism’s holiest site and also the location of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third-holiest site in Islam – could have incited a riot and kicked off a round of deadly violence.

Lest we forget, the Second Intifada began with calls for violence following former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s visit to the Temple Mount in 2000. More than 4,000 people were killed in the ensuing weeks after Palestinian leaders unleashed a deadly wave of suicide attacks.

The two congresswomen have First Amendment rights – as do all American citizens – to express their beliefs. But Israel, as a sovereign nation, also has every right to decide who can and cannot enter its borders and for what purpose.

The irony is that if I, as a member of the Jewish faith, attempted to pray on the Temple Mount, I would be arrested on the spot by the Israelis, who seek to defuse tensions at the site.

Omar and Tlaib also reportedly intended to visit the security fence separating southern Israel from Hamas-controlled Gaza, where terrorists recently launched explosive incendiary balloons towards Jewish communities. The security fence is among the most dangerous hotspots in the region. A visit by well-known foreign politicians would have required significant security resources.

One item that wasn’t on the agenda for Omar and Tlaib was official government business. They planned no meetings with Israeli or Palestinian officials during the trip.

Sadly, this is par for the course for Omar and Tlaib. Although they have only been members of Congress since January, both have already been embroiled in scandals over racist statements and actions.

Omar has said the U.S.-Israel relationships is “all about the Benjamins.” And she has implied that Jewish Americans “pledge allegiance to a foreign country.”

These statements employ classic anti-Semitic tropes, implying that “Jewish money” buys support for Israel from U.S. elected officials and that American Jews are more loyal to Israel than the United States.

Similarly, Tlaib has said Jewish members of Congress “forgot what country they represent.” She even wrote a column for Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan’s blog. Farrakhan is a notorious anti-Semitic bigot, who compares Jews to termites and has long been persona non grata for all but the most extreme fringe of the far-left.

Both Omar and Tlaib are enthusiastic supporters of an anti-Semitic global campaign to boycott Jewish businesses, institutions and individuals in Israel. The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign promotes economic warfare as a means to bring about the eventual destruction of the Jewish state.

Under Israeli law, supporters of BDS are, very sensibly, not allowed into the country. It’s ironic they would want to visit in the first place, considering the boycott.

U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman said Thursday that the planned trip to Israel by Omar and Tlaib was “nothing more than an effort to fuel the BDS engine that Congresswomen Tlaib and Omar so vigorously support.”

And President Trump, who called for Israel to keep Omar and Tlaib out, tweeted in support of the Israeli decision to deny the pair entry, writing: “Representatives Omar and Tlaib are the face of the Democrat Party, and they HATE Israel!”

No country on Earth would allow its sworn enemies to use its territory as a base from which to continue an insidious campaign of delegitimization.

Thankfully, Israel is prioritizing the safety and security of its own citizens ahead of the political agenda of two hateful members of Congress.
