Father gets 2 years in prison after abandoning infant son in woods

An Ohio father has accepted a plea deal that will send him to prison after he abandoned his 1-year-old son in the Oregon wilderness last year with a broken leg, cracked skull and methamphetamines in his system.

Bradley Thomas, the infant, was found by officers in Deschutes County in May 2018 following a massive police search that involved helicopters, officers on horseback and drones. Police at the time said the boy’s father, 26-year-old Brandon Blouin of Belpre, was living with the child’s mother in an SUV in the area and after she walked off, he put Bradley down alone — and naked — as he searched for her.

Medical responders later concluded the boy was suffering from a broken leg and fractured skull, and tests showed meth was present in his bloodstream, according to The Bulletin newspaper. The boy is now said to be living with his grandmother.

Under the agreement reached this week, Blouin pleaded guilty to counts of first-degree criminal mistreatment, endangering the welfare of a minor and being a felon in possession of body armor, and was sentenced to about 2.5 years in prison, The Bulletin reported.

In exchange, Blouin’s attorney admitted prosecutors had sufficient evidence to prove the charges, and three other counts he had been facing were dropped, it added.

An Australian pub has deleted an image of Jesus and issued an apology after facing extreme backlash on social media.

Mary’s Newtown in New South Wales received a barrage of hateful and threatening comments slamming the eatery as “disgusting” and “disrespectful” for its controversial post, which featured Jesus holding a cigarette and a beer.

“Jesus got hammered for his sin, you can too. Open from 12 Good Friday and ALL long weekend,” the since-deleted post read, news.com.au reported.

GORDON RAMSAY FIRES BACK AFTER REVIEWER SLAMS CELEB CHEF’S ‘ASIAN’ RESTAURANT CONCEPT

The photo, which was posted right before Easter, sparked a negative response with many within the religious community.

Though the post was taken down, those offended by the image left poor reviews on the pub’s Facebook page — which are still there.

“any place that needs to mock someones faith to sell their business is a disgrace. Absolutely disgusting. Shame on you,” one reviewer wrote.

“Their recent post is highly offensive and has caused me to imagine their menu lacking taste and very bitter. Absolutely disgraceful!!” one wrote, leaving a “Do Not Recommend” tag on his post.

“Extremely unprofessional means of advertisement. Highly discriminatory and disrespectful. As a business, there should be a high level of respect towards their customers – no matter their beliefs and values and therefore, should keep personal beliefs separate from business. Will definitely be boycotting this entire place for their poor representation and reputation as well as their disgusting food and service,” one wrote, calling for a boycott on the pub.

“Absolutely disgusting!! Do not give this place the light of day their food is just as disgusting as their social media posts,” another commented on Facebook.

Yahoo Australia reported religious Facebook page Orthodox Christianity fueled the negative comments by asking their followers to “Please give this place a bad rating, they are Mocking our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Mary’s Newtown published an apology post on Instagram stating the Facebook picture was never meant to offend anyone and that they decided to remove it after receiving “threats of sexual and physical violence” against the staff.

Brothers of ousted Sudanese ruler arrested, but protesters refuse to leave military headquarters

Sudan’s new military leaders on Wednesday arrested long-running president Omar al-Bashir’s two brothers on charges of corruption, as part of a widespread crackdown on officials and backers of the former government.

Hours earlier, Bashir himself, who was dramatically ousted more than a week ago, was relocated to Khartoum’s Koper Prison, an institution that has long housed scores of political prisoners under Bashir’s rule.

Despite the dramatic ouster of Bashir, thousands of Sudanese protesters continue to descend on the African nation’s capital – pledging not to stop until the military relinquishes power.

Sudan’s armed forces were to deliver an “important statement” and asked the nation to “wait for it” on Thursday, April 11, 2019, state TV reported, as two senior officials said the military had forced longtime President Omar al-Bashir to step down.(Presidential Press Service/Pool via AP, File)

Adorned with signs and chants, the Sudanese activists – ranging from youth and women’s rights groups to students and trade unionists – have assembled around the military headquarters in Khartoum, urging one another not to leave until the military hands over power to a civilian administration.

SUDAN’S MILITARY RULERS FIRE TOP CHIEF PROSECUTOR, AIDS

However, the military has declared it will remain in charge for a two-year transitional period, followed by elections. Yet across social media, many have affirmed to uphold the sit-in until their insistence for a quick handover to a civilian ruling council is met.

Bashir, 75, was known not only as one of the longest-serving Presidents in both Africa and the Arab world, but also a key orchestrator of corruption, conflict and civil war. He is wanted by the International Criminal Court for genocide and crimes against humanity for horrors committed in neighboring Darfur, but the military to-date has stopped short of agreeing to hand him over to The Hague.

CHRISTIAN EX-CHILD SOLDIER, NOW HIP-HOP ARTIST, CALLS FOR FORGIVENESS

His fall from grace seemingly began in December amid a deteriorating economic meltdown, prompting some 40 million Sudanese to take to the streets to demand his removal. The demonstrations stretched on for four months until activists raised the stakes with a sit-in outside the military headquarters.

Law enforcement and intelligence personnel initially purported to clear the area with a heavy hand, before siding with the protests and pronouncing a Bashir usurp on April 11. The next day, Bashir announced he was stepping down.

Mom of YouTube star, 15, admits that her daughter’s Las Vegas wedding was fake for ‘clickbait’

The mother of a 15-year-old social media star revealed that her daughter’s recent Las Vegas wedding to her boyfriend, 16, was simply for “clickbait,” publicized in a monetized YouTube video. Though the questionable stunt soon caught heat online, the mom says the teens are “committed” to the future of their relationship — though she refused to comment on the rumor that her daughter was pregnant.

Danielle “Dani” Cohn rose to Internet fame on Musical.ly (now part of TikTok) and now commands a following of 3.5 million users on Instagram and 1.2 million on YouTube, BuzzFeed reports.

On April 13, the teen shocked fans by sharing a clip called “We got married” to her YouTube page, which has since been viewed almost three million times. In the footage, Cohn “marries” her boyfriend Mikey Tua in a ceremony officiated by an Elvis impersonator.

Though the teen sweethearts were all smiles as they went through the motions of tying the knot, fans were not left laughing.

“This is way out of hand now,” one video commenter moaned.

“Middle schoolers after a week of dating,” another joked.

“On this episode for Dr. Phil,” another cynic smirked.

“Bro April Fools is over,” one chimed in, likening the stunt to Justin and Hailey Bieber’s April Fools’ prank that they were pregnant.

In the days since, Cohn’s mother, Jennifer, told BuzzFeed that she feels “pretty sad that this has become such a huge deal” as her daughter continues to face backlash and ridicule for the clip.

“It was a YouTube video like most YouTube people do for clickbait,” Jennifer, who acts as Cohn’s manager, said. “She committed to her best friend in Vegas … legally they can’t get married.”

“People prank and do all kinds of stuff on the internet,” she continued to muse, though she did not respond to BuzzFeed’s “multiple inquiries” regarding Cohn’s self-perpetuated rumor that she is expecting.

With his news conference Thursday morning on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Russian interference in our 2016 presidential election, Attorney General William Barr helped President Trump score political points by framing the Mueller report in a positive light.

The attorney general held his news conference shortly before he made the redacted Mueller report public and sent it to Congress. This enabled Barr to lay out his interpretation of the report and set the narrative that will dictate how millions of Americans will view Mueller’s findings and how the initial details are perceived.

Thursday’s news conference followed a letter Barr sent to Congress and made public March 24 summarizing what he said were key findings of the Mueller report. First, that neither Trump nor his campaign colluded with Russia to win the presidential election. And second, that Barr concluded Trump did not obstruct justice by interfering in the Mueller investigation, even though Mueller reached no conclusion on that question.

MUELLER REPORT SHOWS PROBE DID NOT FIND COLLUSION EVIDENCE, REVEALS TRUMP EFFORTS TO SIDELINE KEY PLAYERS

To be sure, the Mueller report contains damaging language, damaging information, and other details that will surely provide new insight into the 2016 campaign and reflect poorly upon the president.

However, Barr’s presentation in his March 24 letter and his news conference Thursday – and the Mueller report itself – make it abundantly clear that the winner politically in all of this is President Trump.

In regards to Russian election interference, Barr said Thursday that the Russians “did not have the cooperation of President Trump or the Trump campaign, or the knowing assistance of any other Americans.”

More importantly, Barr said Mueller’s team found “no evidence” that any Americans – particularly anyone associated with the Trump campaign – conspired with the Russian government to help Trump win the 2016 presidential election.

All of this cannot distract from the fact that in many ways, the news conference was surreal.

I expect that following President Trump’s vindication from the Mueller report his approval ratings will not suffer. And it is now clear that there is no basis for impeachment and no basis for removal of the president from office.

Barr became testy during questioning and was clearly frustrated by reporters’ questions about the nature of his relationship with the president and specific details in Mueller’s report. At the end, Barr simply ended the news conference by walking away from the podium.

It became clear through Barr’s statements that he is shielding the president. He clearly laid out information that cleared the president of wrongdoing and sought to show that Mueller need not present the report to the American people himself.

Importantly, Barr’s news conference will most likely protect the president from any immediate drop in polls.

The RealClear Politics aggregate of polls on President Trump’s job approval currently stands at 44 percent, while the most recent Fox News poll has the president’s job approval rating at 45 percent. The most recent Rasmussen Reports poll has President Trump’s job approval at the highest point among the polls, at 50 percent.

I expect that following President Trump’s vindication from the Mueller report his approval ratings will not suffer. And it is now clear that there is no basis for impeachment and no basis for removal of the president from office.

This will drive the Democrats crazy.

Democratic Reps. Jerrold Nadler of New York and Adam Schiff of California have both expressed their interest in further investigating the 2016 election. I think that’s a mistake. My advice to my fellow Democrats continues to be that it is now time to move on.

Mueller’s report has been the only truly non-partisan investigation into the 2016 campaign. It will be important to closely and carefully review the information the report contains.

But considering the findings presented by Barr virtually exonerate the president, any attempt to relitigate the 2016 election now will be viewed by most Americans as a partisan attempt to unseat a Republican president.

It is time that the Democrats return to the issues facing our nation today and in the years ahead – not the 2016 election – if they want to be successful in the 2020 elections and beyond.

The Democrats must talk about health care, job creation, economic inequality and infrastructure. All these topics were massively successful for Democratic candidates in swing districts in the 2018 midterm elections, enabling them to win majority control of the House of Representatives.

CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP

If Democrats want to maintain their majority in the House, regain majority control of the Senate, and ultimately win back the White House they must focus on building a better and more prosperous future for the American people.

With the redacted version of the Mueller report finally released, it is time that the Democrats stop looking in the rearview mirror, put 2016 to rest and look forward to the issues Americans care about going into the 2020 elections.

Will Smith has bounced back following the negative reception his blue genie from the live-action “Aladdin” trailer received.

The star will take over the genie character after Robin Williams brought him to life in the 1992 animated Disney feature. During the 2019 Golden Globe Awards, a teaser trailer debuted showing Smith’s blue-skinned look for the first time.

WILL SMITH OPENS UP ABOUT DIFFICULT RELATIONSHIP WITH SON TREY

The 50-year-old actor appeared in his Genie costume — which was published on the cover of Entertainment Weekly in December — but this time, entirely blue, seemingly with some CGI effects. Unfortunately, fans were quick to criticize Smith with countless memes and negative opinions online.

Speaking to Empire in a recent interview, Smith explained that he was able to laugh off the public backlash, but was taken aback by the role the Internet played in the whole mess.

“It was very funny,” Smith said. “There was a Sonic The Hedgehog / Genie frog. Everything is under such critical scrutiny. I came up in an era where there was no internet. It’s a new thing that I’m trying to get a handle on.”

Fortunately, “Aladdin” released a full-length trailer in March that won back the public and even managed to change the minds of some critics.

“It even came with apologies from the cynics who were so adamant initially,” director Guy Ritchie told the outlet. “I’ve never seen apologies in that world. I thought, ‘Oh well, great, we’re back to where I’d hoped we’d be.’”
