Man uses password breaking software to hack women’s online accounts

A man gained unauthorized access to more than 100 women’s digital accounts, all of which were password protected, according to a statement this week from Assistant U.S. Attorney Melissa M. Marangola.

Between March 2015 and December 2016, Justin Potts, 37, of Rochester, NY, used computer knowhow and password breaking software to harvest the usernames and passwords of women’s online accounts.

Potts used Elcomsoft Phone Breaker software to gain access to the accounts, according to a report in the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, citing the plea agreement.

Elcomsoft Phone Breaker “enables forensic access to information stored in a wide range of Apple devices running all versions of iOS,” according to Elcomsoft’s website.

That software can perform “over-the-air acquisition of iOS devices, break into encrypted backups, obtain and analyze backups, synchronized data and passwords from Apple iCloud,” Elcomsoft says.

Elcomsoft also offers forensic tools for governments, military, law enforcement, and IT security.

In this case, the defendant, Potts, accessed Facebook, iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, and Hotmail accounts, according to the statement from the Department of Justice U.S. Attorney’s Office Western District of New York.

The defendant gained access to these accounts without permission of the owners and used this access to obtain their personal information and personal photographs, the assistant U.S. Attorney Marangola said.

Potts then saved the personal information of the various women on his electronic devices.

Rochester police alerted the FBI’s Cyber Task Force about Potts in March 2017, according to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.

On Potts’ storage devices, agents found about 450 computer files that indicated unauthorized access into the women’s password-protected accounts, according to the Chronicle.

Potts was sentenced to three years’ probation by U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa.

Britain will be ‘slapped in the face’ for seizure of Iranian tanker, cleric says

Britain will soon to get “slapped in the face” for last week’s capture of an Iranian supertanker, a cleric was quoted as saying Friday amid rising tensions between the two nations in the Gulf.

Cleric Kazem Sedghi, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, told worshipers during Tehran’s Friday prayer sermon broadcast live on Iranian state TV that the United Kingdom should be worried for their actions off the coast of Gibraltar.

“Iran’s strong establishment will soon slap Britain in the face for daring to seize the Iranian oil tanker,” he said.

IRAN WARNS OF ‘REPERCUSSIONS’ FOLLOWING ‘MEAN AND WRONG’ SEIZURE OF OIL TANKER

Sedghi’s warning came after the Iranian government on Friday called Britain to immediately release the oil tanker that British Royal Marines seized last week on suspicious it was breaking European sanctions by taking oil to Syria.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman accused London of playing a “dangerous game” a day after police in Gibraltar, a British overseas territory on the southern tip of Spain, said they arrested the captain and chief officer of the supertanker.

Abbs Mousavi told Iranian state news agency IRNA that “the legal pretexts for the capture are not valid … the release of the tanker is in all countries’ interest.”

“This is a dangerous game and has consequences,” he added.

BRITAIN’S SEIZURE OF IRANIAN OIL TANKER WON’T GO ‘UNANSWERED,’ OFFICER SAYS

Gibraltar has insisted its decision to detain the Iranian tanker was taken alone and not on orders from any government, despite a senior Spanish official previously saying the interception was carried out at the request of the United States.

“All relevant decisions in respect of this matter were taken only as a direct result of the government of Gibraltar having reasonable grounds to believe the vessel was acting in breach of established E.U. sanctions against Syria,” Fabian Picardo, the territory’s chief minister, told reporters. “There has been no political request at any time from any government that Gibraltar should act or not act on one basis or another.”

The detained vessel contained 2.1 million barrels of light crude oil, he added.

TRUMP VOWS TO ‘SUBSTANTIALLY’ INCREASE SANCTIONS ON IRAN IN RESPONSE TO URANIUM ENRICHMENT

The British navy said Thursday it had stopped three Iranian paramilitary vessels from disrupting the passage of a British oil tanker through the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf. The brief but tense standoff stemmed from the U.K.’s role in seizing the Iranian tanker.

On Friday, the British Ministry of Defense said it was moving up its timetable for relieving the HMS Montrose, a frigate operating in the Persian Gulf, with the larger HMS Duncan destroyer in the wake of the recent developments.

“This will ensure that the UK alongside international partners can continue to support freedom of navigation for vessels transiting through this vital shipping lane.”

Iran recently began surpassing uranium enrichment limits set in its 2015 nuclear deal with world powers in response to President Donald Trump’s decision to pull the U.S. out of the accord a year ago. He also has re-imposed tough sanctions on Tehran’s oil exports, exacerbating an economic crisis that has sent its currency plummeting.

U.S. women’s soccer stars Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan vowed they would not attend a White House ceremony celebrating the team should they win the World Cup.

Jimmy Kimmel poked fun at President Trump’s past celebrations during “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Thursday. Trump was known for giving winning teams fast food during White House ceremonies, so in turn, Kimmel presented Rapinoe and Morgan a fast-food staple.

Ford, Volkswagen teaming up on autonomous and electric cars

Volkswagen will invest $2.6 billion in resources to join Ford as an equal partner in autonomous car technology firm Argo AI, the companies announced Friday.

The automakers will work together to develop a self-driving system and integrate it into their own vehicles, with Ford already planning to debut a hybrid utility vehicle aimed at providing commercial ride-hailing and package delivery services by 2021.

The system is initially being designed at Level 4 capability, which means it will be able to operate autonomously only in limited, mapped-out areas. Argo AI has been testing it in a few major metropolitan areas, including Miami and Detroit.

Ford is also gaining access to the electric car platform Volkswagen is launching next year and will use it to build and sell its own battery-powered model in Europe starting in 2023 as it develops a separate lineup of zero-emissions vehicles for the U.S. market.

Ford is scheduled to debut a Mustang-inspired electric performance SUV next year, followed by an electric F-150, an SUV built through a $500 million partnership with startup electric vehicle outfit Rivian and its own modular zero-emissions that should spawn several car and utility models.

VW’s Argo AI investment includes $1 billion in cash, which matches what Ford first committed to the company in 2017, along with the integration of its existing Autonomous Intelligent Driving company that is currently 200 employees strong.

The new collaboration builds on a growing alliance between the automakers that kicked off in January when they announced plans to co-develop new commercial vans and small pickups for regions outside the U.S.

Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel reveals horrifying deal he’d make to win another Super Bowl

Let’s cut to the chase about Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel’s shocking revelation Tuesday.

Vrabel, who is entering his second season with the Titans, joined the “Bussin’ with the Boys” podcast, hosted by former Titans linebacker Will Compton and current offensive lineman Taylor Lewan, and told them he’d take drastic measures to win another Super Bowl.

Lewan told Vrabel an assistant on the podcast would “cut off his own d—” to win a Super Bowl. The three-time Pro Bowler said he wouldn’t make that trade and then asked his coach’s opinion.

Lewan noted Vrabel already has three Super Bowl rings from his time with the New England Patriots. Vrabel responded that he has three rings as a player, none as a coach.

Then he made the strange argument that, after 20 years of marriage, he didn’t need the appendage anymore.

Vrabel replied: “She’d be like, ‘Do you want me to do it? Do you want to do it now?’”

Being the top doobie roller in the NBA? Check?

Steve Kerr probably wasn’t expecting the latest honor that his former player Nick Young bestowed upon him during an interview with 95.7 The Game’s “The Damon Bruce Show” on Thursday.

Young was asked who he thought was the best blunt roller in basketball. Young laughed before he was asked again by host Damon Bruce.

“Who can twist it up better than anyone,” Bruce asked.

Young first wouldn’t reveal his answer “because that’s snitchin’.”

Young then said: “Probably Steve Kerr.”

Kerr has been a supporter of medical marijuana for pain relief and told CSN’s “The Warriors Insider” podcast in 2016 that he tried smoking marijuana to help with his chronic back pain, but he said it didn’t help.

Of all the ways for Stewart Zimmel to gain some notoriety, this probably wasn’t one he saw coming.

Zimmel is the COO of a company called HockeyTech according to his LinkedIn page, and before that, he worked for a company called Buzzer Apps. If you’re wondering why he’s important, here’s the reason: the American Hockey League app started sending push notifications demanding money from Zimmel on Wednesday. About $6,000, according to the alerts from the NHL’s top minor league.

“Stewart. Since I have no way to contact you are you owe me nearly $6,000 I would ask you contact me about a payment,” the notification, which was sent repeatedly, reads. “Also, I’m filing a workplace report against you for threatening to punch me in the throat nemours [sic] times.”

Another notification sent read: “Stewart Zimmel please pay the outstanding monies owed.”

A third: “Stewart Zimmel threatened to punch Ian Bowman in the throat.”

When users opened the app, they were treated to a picture of a computer screen with messages between Zimmel and someone else, in which Zimmel (using scare quotes) threatens to punch someone in the throat.

The AHL, which was ready for a schedule-release announcement on Wednesday, was forced to issue an apology for the mess.

Marc Thiessen: Joe Biden’s electability is a myth

Westlake Legal Group 694940094001_6057942372001_6057947995001-vs Marc Thiessen: Joe Biden's electability is a myth the washington post Marc Thiessen fox-news/politics/2020-presidential-election fox-news/person/joe-biden fox-news/person/donald-trump fox-news/opinion fnc/opinion fnc article 77811bf0-9d1c-5527-bdfa-64373be3f3b2

Despite a lackluster debate performance, former Vice President Joe Biden is still holding on to his lead in the race for the Democratic nomination in large part because Democratic voters see him as the most electable candidate. A Washington Post-ABC News poll finds that a 45 percent plurality of voters believe Biden has the best chance of beating President Trump. No other candidate comes even close.

But what if those voters are wrong?

To win back the presidency, Democrats must retake states such as Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin and Ohio where once-reliable working-class Democrats opted for Trump in 2016. The rationale for Biden’s campaign is that he is the candidate best positioned to win back these “forgotten Americans” who voted twice for him and President Obama. In fact, he may be the worst candidate to try to do that.

BIDEN RIPS ‘CHEST-THUMPING’ TRUMP AS HE SPELLS OUT HIS FOREIGN POLICY VISION

These voters left during Obama and Biden’s tenure for Trump for a reason — they didn’t get the hope and change they were promised. During the Obama administration, the United States lost almost 200,000 manufacturing jobs. Indeed, Obama told them to get used to it, because some manufacturing jobs “are just not going to come back.”

Well, guess what? They’re coming back under Trump. Since Trump’s election, the United States has added more than 500,000 manufacturing jobs. On his watch, the unemployment rate for Americans without a high school diploma reached the lowest point ever recorded, and their wages rose more than 6 percent last year, outpacing all other groups.

In Michigan, unemployment is just 4.2 percent; in Ohio, it is 4.1 percent; in Pennsylvania, it is 3.8 percent; and in Wisconsin, it is just 2.8 percent. America’s biggest economic problem is that we have 1.6 million more job openings than unemployed people to fill those jobs. Why would these voters reverse course when they are doing so much better under Trump?

These voters also cast their ballots for Trump because they were sick and tired of the political establishments of both parties that ignored them or took their votes for granted. And Biden is the epitome of the very establishment they voted to remove from the halls of power. He arrived in Washington in 1973 and has been a fixture on the nation’s capital for decades. He is probably the last person to whom anti-establishment voters would want to turn.

Trump is going to portray Biden as a creature of the Washington swamp, and call him out as a corrupt politician who used his power and influence to enrich his family. And Trump will have plenty of ammunition to back those claims.

Biden’s son Hunter’s international business dealings had a curious pattern of intersecting with the vice president’s diplomatic efforts with governments of countries of concern to the United States. Whether it was Hunter’s $1 billion deal with the Bank of China less than two weeks after the vice president brought Hunter to Beijing aboard Air Force Two, or the vice president’s insistence that Ukraine dismiss its top prosecutor who happened to be investigating an oligarch who owned a Ukrainian energy company paying Hunter $50,000 a month to serve on its board, there is plenty of smoke there.

CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP

That is not going to play well with the forgotten Americans. Trump is going to portray Biden as a Washington insider who enriched his family while backing all the disastrous trade deals that destroyed so many American manufacturing jobs. Trump will tell working-class voters that Biden’s family got rich while you lost your livelihoods — until I brought your jobs back.

Biden is perceived as electable for one reason: because the rest of the Democratic field has gone so far to the left. In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. With most of the other leading candidates embracing socialism and open borders, Biden looks like a winner by comparison. But Biden’s electability is a myth. Trump will be just as happy to run against the swamp creature as anyone else.

I’m dropping around 4-8 bubblegum pop songs that I’m so excited about,” she told Fox News.”I feel like I have an amazing and incredible talent that I haven’t really been able to exercise as much as I would like.”

“I don’t just want to speak up about mental illness and the things that I’m passionate about. I also love music. And I have a lot to share. And I think people will get to know me a little bit more through this album,” she added.

Stodden has spoken openly about her battle with depression, which she realized she had an issue with in 2016. “I am in a better position right now because I’m able to express my depression and express myself through music. I feel that’s really what I was born to do,” she said.
