A man suspected of using a samurai sword to kill his girlfriend last year at a survivalist bunker loaded with guns and ammo in northwest Washington was found dead in California, officials revealed Tuesday.

The Island County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release posted to Facebook a body pulled from the Feather River in Yuba City, California on April 7, 2018 has been identified as 35-year-old Jacob Gonzales.

The body was initially classified as a “John Doe” until November when investigators shared photos of tattoos on the body that led to tips that initially identified the body as Gonzales’.

Officials were eventually able to send DNA to a lab in California, which made the positive identification. Officials have not revealed a cause of death.

Gonzales had been sought by authorities in connection with the murder of 26-year-old Katherine Cunningham, whose decapitated body was discovered on March 3, 2018, near a survivalist bunker on the rural Camano Island, north of Seattle.

Near the headless corpse, investigators discovered a bunker dug into a hillside containing supplies, guns and ammo. Autopsy findings determined the 26-year-old woman’s cause of death was “homicidal violence with decapitation,” according to the coroner’s office.

“The subsequent investigation revealed that Katherine had been murdered on February 14th or 15th,” the sheriff’s office said Tuesday.

Cunningham’s vehicle was found abandoned on Interstate 5 in Yreka, Calif., roughly 560 miles away on Feb. 16 and towed three days later by the California Highway Patrol, before her body was discovered.

“After Katherine was discovered, an attempt to locate was put out on her missing vehicle and the California Highway Patrol notified the Island County Sheriff’s Office that they had the vehicle,” police said. “Deputies from the Island County Sheriff’s Office recovered the vehicle from California and towed it back to Washington where Detectives obtained a search warrant.”

Inside the vehicle, authorities discovered a samurai sword wrapped in a blanket that appeared to match the type of weapon used in the killing. Testing of the sword also found Cunningham’s DNA on the blade and Gonzales’ DNA on the handle, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities had been seeking Gonzales since March on a $1 million warrant. He was previously charged with 5 counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and one count of motor vehicle theft.

The sheriff’s office thanked the various agencies and tips from the public that helped with the investigation, and officials thanked the victim’s family.

“We would also like to thank Katherine’s family for their patience and their tireless efforts to keep Katherine in the public’s thoughts,” officials said.

Vice President Mike Pence drew unexpected controversy when he was invited to speak at Taylor University, a small Christian school in rural Indiana.

Some upset students and alumni launched a petition to have his invitation rescinded, saying they felt “personally attacked” and were “physically shaking,” predicting that students will “feel unsafe at their own graduation.”

But Peter Wurster, a Taylor University student and CampusReform.org correspondent, told “Fox & Friends” Wednesday he is excited for Pence to be speaking at his school and hopes it unifies the campus, instead of further division.

“I was really excited about hearing the news,” said Wurster, whose older sister is graduating in May.

“Places like Taylor and at other universities have become places where it’s hard to speak up about these issues,” Wurster added. “I really hope that through this situation we can open a good, meaningful conversation with one another. That we can listen, hear each other out through all of this.”

Can you still get the measles if you’ve been vaccinated?

Westlake Legal Group 694940094001_6026792410001_6026793726001-vs Can you still get the measles if you've been vaccinated? Rachael Rettner LiveScience fox-news/health/infectious-disease/vaccines fox-news/health/infectious-disease/outbreaks fox-news/health/infectious-disease fnc/health fnc article 4b280ec7-c35f-5991-8562-1aaed27c2b9a

The number of measles cases in the U.S. continues to climb, with more than 550 cases reported from January to April, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). That’s the second highest number of measles cases reported in any year since 2000, the CDC says.

Many of this year’s cases occurred as part of ongoing measles outbreaks in several U.S. cities, and most infected people were unvaccinated, according to the CDC. But if you’ve been vaccinated, can you still catch the disease?

WOMAN HAS MASSIVE 15-INCH OVARIAN CYST REMOVED

Although it is possible to get the measles even if you’ve been vaccinated, it’s quite rare: Two doses of the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine — which are given as part of the standard U.S. childhood vaccination schedule — are 97 parents effective at preventing measles, according to the CDC. This means that about 3 parents of people who receive two doses of the measles vaccine will get measles if they are exposed to the virus. [27 Devastating Infectious Diseases]

It’s not clear why some fully vaccinated people get measles, but it could be that their immune system did not respond properly to the vaccine, the CDC says. (Still, if a person is fully vaccinated, and they come down with measles, they are more likely to have a mild case of the illness.)

In addition, some people may be at a slightly higher risk of getting measles because they received only one dose of the MMR vaccine. Although the measles vaccine was developed in 1963, it wasn’t until 1989 that health officials recommended that a child receive two doses, according to the CDC.

This means there are “many people who are adults now who only received one dose” of MMR, said Dr. Amesh Adalja, a senior scholar at The Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security in Baltimore. One dose of MMR is still more than 90 percent effective at preventing measles, but it’s not quite as good as two doses, Adalja said.

Adults who received only one dose of MMR as a child could consider getting a second dose, Adalja told Live Science. In situations where there are outbreaks going on, “I don’t think its a bad idea,” he said.

FDA HALTS SALE OF PELVIC MESH AFTER YEARS OF INJURY REPORTS

In addition, some people who received the measles vaccine in the 1960s may need to be revaccinated. That’s because, between 1963 and 1967, some people received a form of the measles vaccine known as the “inactivated” (killed) vaccine, which was not effective, according to the CDC. People who received this form of the vaccine, or were vaccinated before 1968 and don’t know what vaccine type they got, should be revaccinated with the current “live attenuated” form of the vaccine, the CDC says.

Waning immunity?

Another question people may have is whether the vaccine’s protection wanes over time. Generally, people who’ve received two doses of MMR are considered protected for life, meaning they don’t need a booster shot, according to the CDC.

Still, there may be some waning that happens with age, Adalja said.

There is a way to check your level of protection against measles. You can get a blood test that measures antibody levels against the measles virus. However, doctors don’t routinely use this test on patients — it’s more often used for health care workers who are generally at higher risk of being exposed to measles. But it may be used in other situations: for example, for college students who need to show they are immune to measles, according to University of Rochester Medical Center.

Generally, the CDC recommends that people who don’t have written documentation of getting the MMR vaccine should get vaccinated. However, people who were born before 1957 are considered likely to be immune to the virus (because most people born at that time were infected naturally with the virus), and therefore don’t need to be vaccinated.

Authorities in San Antonio said a man assaulted his wife, fatally shot a neighbor and set his house on fire before dying in a hail of gunfire with police.

Police Chief William McManus said the man “severely” beat his wife Tuesday afternoon, then opened fire on her as she ran away. The woman, who suffered severe facial injuries in the assault, wasn’t struck by gunfire, but a neighbor was, the police chief said.

McManus said the shooter set fire to his home shortly before officers arrived. Then, according to the police chief, the man “took a prone position” by lying down on his porch and opened fire with a rifle. It wasn’t clear who he was firing at, but the SWAT team returned fire. McManus said the man was fatally shot, though authorities don’t know whether he shot himself or was struck by the officers’ gunfire.

Meanwhile, 25 mph (40 kph) winds caused the fire at his home to spread to a neighbor’s house, San Antonio Police Chief Charles Hood said. Firefighters couldn’t immediately fight the blaze because the gunfire was ongoing.

“Until that suspect is down we’re not going to attack a fire,” Hood said. “We don’t want to become a victim.”

A vacant lot separated the suspect’s burning house and a nearby house that caught fire. Hood said it’s fortunate that vacant lot was there because “otherwise it probably would’ve burned this whole block down.”

No names have been released. Authorities said the wife is recovering in a hospital from her injuries.

Ohio church apologizes after shocking video shows youth pastor asking kids to cut him in Easter lesson

A church in Pataskala, Ohio apologized after a disturbing video surfaced showing a youth pastor asking kids to spit on him, slap him, and then cut him with a steak knife in an Easter message gone wrong.

“The illustration went too far,” Justin Ross, the lead pastor of Impact City Church, explained in a video on Facebook, “and it was inappropriate for the audience that we had, that was students.”

THESE EASTER EGGS SHOW KIDS THE ‘TRUE MEANING’ OF THE HOLIDAY

Part-time youth pastor Jaddeaus Dempsey says he was trying to illustrate what happened to Jesus leading up to the crucifixion, so he asked the students to spit on him and they lined up and did so. Then to slap him, as several students expressed that it was “enough,” but then he picked up a knife and asked them to cut him.

“Are you serious?” a student asked, as screams are heard in the background. Dempsey responded: “I’m very serious.”

One kid, holding the knife, says, “I cannot do this,” and hands the knife to another student.

The next student brought the knife to his back as “light” as he could.

Dempsey told him to bring blood so the student tried again, saying he could see blood. Then the video stops.

Many students were taking videos and posting them on social media. One of them was posted by Lola Hatfield, who called it “disturbing.”

Mandy, one of the parents whose kid was handed a knife, told 10 WBNS she was “appalled.”

“I was disturbed,” she said. “It was disturbing.”

The lead pastor agreed, in a video apology, that the reactions to the incident were appropriate.

“Many of you were disgusted. Many of you were hurt by this. Many of you were very confused on why this would be taking place at a church and a youth event, and we agree,” Ross said. “It was inappropriate for this audience and there’s really no excuse for why it happened.”

But he said the intent behind it, which was not seen on social media, is important to clear up.

“After Jaddeaus allowed them to spit on him, slap him, and cut him, he sat them down and explained to them about this guy named Jesus, who thousands of years ago, he was put on trial for a crime that he didn’t commit, and he was beaten, he was broken, he was whipped, he was crucified, and he died as an innocent man.”

The pastor explained that Jesus could’ve stopped it at any point but “chose to take the debt we call sin.”

Jesus did it out of love, the pastor explained, adding that the youth pastor was trying to “share” in Jesus’ pain.

MILLENNIALS CREATE BIBLE FOR THE INSTAGRAM GENERATION

Dempsey said some students felt bad and he told them it was completely his idea.

“It was completely my idea. Not Justin, not any of the other leaders, including my own wife, knew the illustration that I was about to perform,” Dempsey said. “I crossed the line, and it was over the top and it was just not appropriate. It was in bad judgment. I’m so sorry for misrepresenting the community, the church, the parents, the students, anybody that I hurt. It was not my intention.”

The goal was to show the students how much Jesus loved them, the youth pastor explained.

“In no way do we condone that students or anyone else should spit on someone, should slap them, or use a weapon to harm anyone or harm themselves,” Ross said, “and we have a lot to evaluate to ensure that a situation like this doesn’t happen again.”

Newly found letter from ISIS operatives offers more clues to Baghdadi being alive

The status of the most wanted man in the world remains unknown, but authorities are continuing to piece together clues indicating that ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is at least alive.

Documents revealed this month by The Sunday Times showed that ISIS leadership had not only tasked members with “bringing in migrants” as a means to funnel finances and fighters from the crumpled “caliphate” in Syria into Europe and orchestrate attacks, but one letter in-particular among the document trove was specifically addressed to Baghdadi.

The December-dated letter, reportedly signed by six leaders, detailed the terrorist outfit’s blueprint for operations in the wake of lost territory – ranging from bank robberies to computer hacking to vehicle rammings. Another letter to Baghdadi late last year, signed by ISIS commander Abu Taher al-Tajiki, lays out an array of potential target sites for striking in Europe.

NEW ZEALAND NURSE HELD CAPTIVE BY ISIS GROUP IN SYRIA FOR 6 YEARS MAY BE ALIVE: REPORT

The letters underscore that not only is ISIS seemingly devoted to overseeing global attacks, but that its shadowy commander still pulls rank.

“The latest information is that he is still in the Syrian desert, and could not enter into the Iraqi side because of concerns about evading the security measures on the borders,” Sabah al Namaan, Baghdadi’s spokesperson for the counterterrorism agency, told Fox News late last month, stressing that finding the shadowy figure remains of critical importance due to the “symbolic significance” Baghdadi holds in governing the brutal terrorist outfit.

Hisham al Hashimi, a member of the National Reconciliation Commission and a researcher in extremism and terrorism affairs in Iraq, who advises Baghdad and several foreign governments on terrorist activity, said the latest security analysis has pinpointed Baghdadi in “three possible locations.” Two of those are in the arid Syrian wasteland – Tadmur or Homs desert – and the third is just over the border, on the Iraq side.

“All these locations are very wide and very large with around 200 square miles,” Hashimi noted. “He is a specialist at knowing how to survive, using different disguises and only with two people – his brother and his driver – with him.”

He also pointed out that the assumption was that Baghdadi was never in Baghouz, the final Syrian battle zone which fell last month, during the fight, but is believed to have “motivated” his fighters prior to the last showdown.

Baghdadi remains the world’s most wanted man, with the United States continuing to offer up to $25 million for information leading to his location. While most of his closest aides and confidantes have been slaughtered in the years of intense fighting, the leader is broadly believed to be alive, and still very much in the sights of U.S., SDF and Iraq elite forces.

He is also believed to have survived a coup effort from within his own ranks in January when several senior fighters attempted to oust him by leading him from his hideout into a firefight with foreign fighters. But he was reportedly whisked away by his security.

The elusive terror chieftain, who is around 47 years old, has only ever made one known public appearance. That was in July 2014 when he surfaced at the historic al-Nuri mosque in Mosul to declare himself the “caliph” in the weeks after the group took control of Iraq’s second-largest city.

Since then, unproven claims of Baghdadi’s death have run the discourse from time to time.

“Until a body is found,” one high-ranking Iraqi intel chief said. “We believe is alive.”

“A Star Is Born” was just another recent notch in the legacy of Lady Gaga. Characterized by her powerful and commanding vocal style, Gaga’s music made her into a superstar—but “A Star Is Born” showcased the singer’s incredible acting chops as well. Those acting chops transcended the big screen when it was widely believed that the star entered a relationship with co-star Bradley Cooper—until she shut those rumors down on an episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

On Gaga, legendary singer Celine Dion stated, “She’s definitely one of the most inventive artists we’ve ever seen. Her artistic expression has no rules, no boundaries… What makes her even more special, and such a powerful influence on society, is that she empowers her fans to adopt the very same values in their lives—to stand up for what they believe in, despite what others might think.”

A man who needs no introduction, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has maintained a certain omnipresence in the media that no other star can measure up to. One of the hardest working men in Hollywood, Johnson has maintained a grueling schedule of high-intensity training and acting in major films. As of 2019, Johnson has taken on more production roles—which saw him produce films like “Shazam!” and “Fighting with My Family.”

“Wonder Woman” actress and fellow “Fast and Furious” co-star Gal Gadot stated, “Dwayne is someone who believes the sky is the limit and will go above and beyond to make sure he gives 100% every single day, whether he is at the gym, working with his charity (the Dwayne Johnson Rock Foundation), being with his family and friends, or working on a new project.”

For the past eight years, Emilia Clarke has received rave reviews for her portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen in the hit television series, “Game of Thrones.” Characterized by her bone-white hair and brash confidence in the show, Clarke demonstrated an impeccable amount of character development over the course of the series. Clarke’s portrayal of Targaryen has earned her several award nominations, including the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

On Clarke, Emma Thompson stated, “First impressions can mislead. The intimacy of a nine-week shoot will reveal all. Especially one that starts—starts, mind you—at 2 a.m. What was revealed was a woman of mickle might, whose instincts, whetted by years of hard work in environments that were not always safe or healthy, are as finely honed as any I’ve encountered.”

She has made donations to the campaigns of Democratic politicians such as Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

Actor Robert Redford stated, “Glenn is a major talent, an actor who is deeply committed to her craft. She doesn’t play roles as much as she transforms herself into them, never allowing her own personality or celebrity to get in the way. Through many years now, I’ve been able to call her a friend and colleague. She never looks back, and neither do I. I just try to keep up with her—looking forward to her next performance, always.”

With his powerful artistry, Lee earned many accolades for himself. Lee’s devotion to race relations and colorism in film has inspired many future directors, including “Get Out” and “Us” director Jordan Peele.

In his write-up on Lee, Jordan Peele stated, “Spike Lee can’t be described in a single word. I might struggle to do it in 200. He’s a visionary, a trailblazer, a provocateur and a true American original. He’s made more than two dozen films across nearly every genre, and all of them have been completely different. But to me, the common thread across his career may be his impeccable timing—his ability to understand the cultural landscape of the moment and deliver a spot-on message.”

Maddie Corman’s husband was caught with child sex abuse images — and yet she stood by her man.

In 2016, TV director Jace Alexander, best known for his work on “Law & Order,” was sentenced in New York to 10 years’ probation on child pornography charges.

‘LAW & ORDER’ DIRECTOR GETS 10 YEARS PROBATION

He was sentenced after pleading guilty to promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing an obscene performance by a child. He had faced up to seven years in prison. He also registered as a sex offender.

Prosecutors say digital files showing minors engaged in sex acts were found on computers at the director’s Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., home in 2015.

Jace Alexander of Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., the only son of actress Jane Alexander, was accused of promoting the video – depicting a girl about 12 or 13 years old – by making it available for viewing in late June on the Torrent network, according to a criminal complaint. (Westchester County District Attorney)

Alexander had directed more than a dozen episodes of “Law & Order” since the mid-1990s. He also did work on “The Blacklist” and “Rescue Me.”

The 49-year-old actress told The Times of London Wednesday that she stayed with her husband because she didn’t want her children to grow up without a parent.

‘LAW & ORDER’ DIRECTOR ARRESTED ON CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGES

“I had no interest in having my kids grow up with a parent as long as he was willing to get help and be the best person he could,” said Corman. “And, again, I’m aware that decision does not sit well with some people. I wish I could tell you that that doesn’t upset me, but it does. I don’t like having to defend that choice. And I don’t love having my kids potentially read that.

“That’s really, really painful for me and really not something I ever anticipated,” continued Corman. “I was proud to be married to who I’m married to. And I’m still proud to be married to him. I am.”

Corman insisted that she never worried about Alexander hurting any of their three children.

“I did not personally worry that he would or had ever hurt the children,” said Corman. “I know that some people think I am crazy or a monster and that’s not been fun to read. I have zero desire to hear about [his] guilt and shame. I think in some ways it would be easier to do a show where I come out and say, ‘I got rid of the bum and here I am,’ but that’s not my story. My husband was never going to stop being the father of my three kids.”

Corman decided to do a monologue show about her ordeal, where she revealed the couple are still married. The play, “Accidentally Brave,” opened last month at the DR2 Theater in New York City and is currently running until July 14 of this year.

‘LAW & ORDER’ DIRECTOR SPLITTING FROM THIRD WIFE

Back in March, Corman told The New York Times she wrote the play to further explore how she dealt with the horrific scandal. Corman shared that rehab, an ongoing 12-step program, couples therapy and in-depth discussions were essential to keep the marriage going.

Alexander is currently producing a documentary about “the destructive forces of pornography.”

“You’ve had the worst thing you’ve ever done exposed to the entire world,” Alexander told the newspaper. “It was incredibly painful and incredibly destructive, but it allowed me to reinvestigate the way I lived my life.”

Corman revealed that when police first made it clear about Alexander’s crimes, she immediately vomited. Alexander admitted to his spouse that he needed help and swore he never touched anyone. Corman said she punched him, sobbed and then called her children to reassure them that everything was going to be OK.

Corman said she wanted her play to focus on “my own messy truth” and not the details of her husband’s crimes or what may have led them there. She said Alexander is supportive of the project but has not read the script. She admitted to still working through deep feelings of betrayal and experiences flashbacks.

Still, Corman hopes her story will help someone whose own life is turned upside down.

“I wouldn’t wish what happened to me or my kids on anyone,” said Corman. “But the way that I feel, and honestly the way that my husband feels, is that when we keep things in the dark, that’s when shame and pain actually grows. Our family didn’t just stop being because something terrible happened.”
