Upcoming NBC political drama enlists CNN reporter Dana Bash for expertise: report

Was NBC News political director Chuck Todd not available?

NBC’s upcoming political drama set in Washington D.C. has enlisted CNN political correspondent Dana Bash to serve as a consulting producer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The show, which will be called “The Hill,” billed as a “high-stakes character drama that lives at the intersection of media and Capitol Hill, where everything is transacted: information, love, sex, fame and power,” according to THR.

RONAN FARROW’S TEAM ‘CONFIDENT IN THE FACTS’ IN NEW #METOO BOOK, DISMISSES LEGAL THREAT FROM EX-NATIONAL ENQUIRER EDITOR

“It will focus on the gifted, flawed and fascinating people who call that world home,” THR’s Rick Porter wrote.

While it may seem odd that an NBC program would require a CNN political consultant, when NBC News employs dozens of political reporters itself, the show is actually being created by Sony Pictures TV.

NBC did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

“Hawaii Five-0” and “Scorpion” writer Paul Grellong will work on the project, along with Bash and a group of other TV industry veterans including a former “Larry King Live” executive producer, according to the report.

Bash is CNN’s chief political correspondent, covering all things Trump along with the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate for the liberal network. She plays a major role in CNN’s election coverage and was a White House correspondent during the George W. Bush’s administration.

Bash also appeared in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and Netflix political drama “House of Cards.”

Washington state teen’s cold case murder cracked after nearly three decades

The cold case rape and murder of a popular Washington state teenager has finally been solved after nearly three decades, authorities said.

Sara Yarborough, 16, was supposed to board a bus with her Federal Way High School drill team in December 1991. She never did.

Teens found her body after they saw a man emerge from bushes behind the high school. She had been strangled with her own nylons, according to reports.

CALIFORNIA COLD-CASE VICTIM FOUND IN 1996 NOW HAS A ‘FACE’ THANKS TO RECONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY

Authorities now say Patrick Nicholas, 55, was linked to the crime after cops tested a discarded cigarette butt outside a dry-cleaning business in Kent on Sunday, the Seattle Times reported. DNA from the butt matched evidence recovered from Yarborough’s body.

A forensic genealogist identified Nicholas as a potential suspect after uploading the crime scene DNA to a genealogy website to create a family tree.

“Few things are more satisfying in law enforcement than being able to tell a victim’s family that a suspect has been caught,” King County Sheriff Mitzi Johanknecht said Thursday in announcing Nicholas’ arrest for Sara’s murder, according to Q13 Fox. “Last night, deputies were able to tell Sarah Yarborough’s family that.”

LOUISIANA POLICE MAKE ARREST IN 25-YEAR-OLD COLD CASE OF INFANT FOUND FROZEN BEHIND CAR WASH

“They had never given up,” said Laura Yarborough, Sara’s mother, according to the station. “Even when I had given up, they didn’t. I guess it’s a warning, if you do something heinous here, they’ll come to get you.”

She said she wondered if her daughter’s killer was still alive.

“But the detectives were extremely dogged and kept going even when I was ready to throw in the towel,” she said.

The case went cold even with witnesses, 4,000 tips and the killer’s DNA profile.

Last year a Virginia lab used DNA from the crime scene to create composite sketches of Sara’s killer as an older person.

According to the Times, Nicholas was released from prison in an attempted rape case four years before Sara’s murder and was arrested in a 1994 child molestation case that resulted in an assault conviction.

A prosecutor said in court papers that for the past several years Nicholas had been living in a dilapidated building on a large piece of property with few community ties, according to the paper.

The prosecutor was quoted as saying that Nicholas’ crime was “one of opportunity and extreme violence.”

Taylor Swift’s mom shares video of singer hilariously crying over a banana after eye surgery

Taylor Swift was caught off guard during an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” Thursday night.

The Grammy-winner, 29, was chatting with host Jimmy Fallon when he revealed her mother, Andrea Swift, had sent him a secret video of the singer recovering from her recent LASIK eye surgery.

Swift admitted she was on “some pretty hardcore pills after [having] a laser in your eye” and was embarrassed about what could potentially be on the video.

TAYLOR SWIFT SPEAKS OUT ON ‘LOVER,’ SCOOTER BRAUN, STALKERS, SEXISM AND MORE ON ‘CBS SUNDAY MORNING’

“Your mom may or may not have videotaped you after surgery and she gave us the video!” Fallon said before rolling the hilarious clip.

In the home video, the “Lover” singer is in her kitchen after the procedure with protective goggles on, trying to tear a banana from the stem. But after she successfully tears it off, Swift realizes she actually wanted the other banana and had picked the wrong one.

“That wasn’t the one I wanted!” she moans.

“I tried to get this one,” Swift explained to her mom. “What do we do with this one now?”

TAYLOR SWIFT SAYS SHE’S ‘OBSESSED’ WITH LEARNING MORE ABOUT POLITICS, NEW MUSIC IS POLITICALLY FOCUSED

She was worried about the rejected banana because it “doesn’t have a head.” The dilemma made the singer start to cry but her mother was there to comfort her. The video then continued in Swift’s bedroom where her mom warned her “don’t fall asleep eating the banana.”

“I’m not asleep, my mind is alive!” the entertainer announced.

After watching the clip, Swift joked, “She was kind enough to drive me there but cruel enough to film it and give it to you!”

Swift is performing on “Saturday Night Live” this week. Emmy-winner Phoebe Waller-Bridge is hosting for the first time.

Supreme Court agrees to review Louisiana abortion case

Westlake Legal Group 694940094001_6080556646001_6080554347001-vs Supreme Court agrees to review Louisiana abortion case Shannon Bream fox-news/politics/judiciary/supreme-court fox news fnc/politics fnc f8fe7898-840b-5c39-8a10-1c85ea05f8af Bill Mears article

The Supreme Court agreed Friday to hear a challenge to a controversial Louisiana abortion law, with a decision on the politically and socially charged issue expected in the middle of a presidential election year.

At issue is a state statute requiring doctors performing abortions to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital. A federal appeals court had upheld the law, despite an almost identical statute from Texas that was declared unconstitutional by the justices in 2016.

CHIEF JUSTICE ROBERTS SAYS SUPREME COURT NONPARTISAN

The high court in February blocked enforcement of the law, while further legal appeals were being filed. Chief Justice John Roberts sided with his more liberal colleagues at the time.

Abortion rights supporters say Act 620 is too restrictive, and places an “undue burden” on a woman’s access to the medical procedure. They say it would leave the state with just one abortion clinic. Backers of the law say it is a reasonable regulation, with claims by state officials that “Louisiana abortion clinics have a history of serious health and safety problems.”

The high court will now set a briefing schedule, with oral arguments early next year and a ruling expected by June 2020.

Louisiana is one of several states enacting recent abortion restrictions. The state — along with Kentucky, Ohio, Missouri Mississippi, North Dakota and Iowa — have passed measures that would prohibit abortions after six to eight weeks of pregnancy. Utah and Arkansas legislators voted to limit the procedure to the middle of the second trimester. Georgia has a near-total ban. Facing legal challenges, none of the laws have yet taken effect.

The Supreme Court justices, however, took no action on a separate appeal in regard to an abortion regulation from Indiana. That Republican-backed statute, signed into law by then-Gov. Mike Pence, requires women to undergo an ultrasound at least 18 hours before having an abortion — a requirement critics call medically unnecessary.

The high court is expected to decide in coming weeks whether to put the Indiana case on its argument docket. A federal appeals court struck the measure down, saying it would create additional financial and travel burdens on pregnant women.

A New York woman has claimed that she nearly died when her C-section incision got infected just days after giving birth. Krista Praise, 32, told JamPress she gave birth to her first son in June, and the day after being discharged developed a fever.

“It was more so in my lower stomach and it was really red and hot,” Praise, who told JamPress that she called her gynecologist to schedule a follow-up appointment, said.

“It felt like I was on fire almost. My mom had a C-section before and she knew it wasn’t normal,” she explained.

Praise said that when she felt down near her incision, she felt blisters across her abdomen, which caused her to panic. She said she rushed to the doctor’s office and while they offered to drain the blisters, she knew she needed to get to a hospital.

“There was so much pus and dead flesh oozing out of me,” Praise told the news outlet. “I was shocked.”

Post-C-section infections are typically caused by a bacterial infection in the incision site. Common symptoms include fever, wound sensitivity, redness and swelling at the site, push discharged from the incision site, painful urination, foul-smelling discharge, bleeding that contains large clots, leg pain or swelling as well as severe lower abdominal pain, according to HealthLine.com.

SECONDARY INFERTILITY: WHY IT HAPPENS TO COUPLES WHO HAVE ALREADY HAD SUCCESSFUL PREGNANCIES

Risk factors for infection include obesity, diabetes or an immunosuppressive disorder, chorioamnionitis, long-term steroid use, previous C-section deliveries, poor prenatal care, lack of cautionary antibiotics, a long labor or surgery and excessive blood loss during labor and delivery.

Praise told JamPress that she was diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis, also known as flesh-eating bacteria, and underwent life-saving surgery to stop it from spreading further. She said she spent two weeks fighting for her life, during which she could not see her son.

“I was so sad,” she said, of her time away from her infant. “The first time you’re ever having a baby it’s supposed to be this really happy exciting time, then all of a sudden everything around that is sad and scary.”

The woman revealed that she has not yet completely recovered from the ordeal, but that she continues to heal and was happy to be reunited with her baby.

‘Wonder Years’ actress Crystal McKellar calls suit accusing her of trying to undermine Peter Thiel’s fund ‘swampy’

A former child star and sister of actress Danica McKellar is being sued for breach of contract after allegedly authoring a letter-writing campaign to bring down a venture fund owned by billionaire Peter Thiel.

Crystal McKellar, who portrayed Becky Slater on “The Wonder Years,” is being accused of attempting to disgrace Thiel’s Mithril Capital Management through anonymous handwritten letters to its investors, according to documents obtained by the New York Post.

‘WONDER YEARS’ STAR DANICA MCKELLAR TALKS FINDING LOVE AGAIN AFTER DIVORCE

Per the Post, McKellar, who graduated from Harvard Law School in 2003, formerly served as Mithril’s sole general counsel before leaving the firm in February with a reported $225,000-a-year consulting job.

According to the suit filed in Texas court earlier this week, McKellar’s letters were “written to sow discord between Mithril and its business partners.” While the letters were not signed, some of the envelopes used to mail them had a return address with McKellar’s initials on it and a forensic handwriting analysis obtained by Mithril identified her as the author.

The suit claimed that one of McKellar’s letters accused Mithril co-founder Ajay Royan of “lying to investors and the public about how much he is charging us in management fees.”

But McKellar told Fox News on Friday that she has “not been served with a copy of the complaint” and insinuated that Mithrol provided the documents to the media, calling it a “swampy” move.

‘WONDER YEARS’ STARS REUNITE WITH ADORABLE SELFIE

“Based on the media coverage, I can state that the allegations of wrongdoing are unequivocally false, and it will be a simple matter to prove them false if it gets that far,” McKellar told us. “But this isn’t about me. This is about what’s going on at Mithril. This is about Mithril’s investors, who are families, foundations, and charities that help the most vulnerable Americans, and the pension funds that permit our public servants to retire with dignity. These investors placed their trust and money in promises that were made by Mithril.”

She added: “I left Mithril earlier this year when it became clear to me that Mithril’s leadership was lying to its investors and that the promises it had made were not going to be kept.”

GOP senator confronted at town hall over her ‘silence’ on Trump’s behavior: ‘Where is the line?’

Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, was confronted at a town hall event Thursday by a constituent who repeatedly pressed her on when she and other Senate Republicans would draw a “line” on President Trump requesting help from Ukraine and China in investigating Joe Biden.

The Iowa resident, Amy Haskins, specifically asked Ernst about Trump’s comments earlier that day that he would like China to look into the business dealings of the former vice president’s son, Hunter Biden.

“How is that helping anybody?” Haskins challenged Ernst at the event in Templeton, Iowa, drawing a round of applause.

“Where is the line? When are you guys going to say, ‘Enough’ and stand up and say, ‘You know what, I’m not backing any of this’? … You still stand there, silent, and your silence is supporting him,” said Haskins.

MSNBC’S CHUCK TODD SOUNDS THE ALARM ON TRUMP: ‘THE NATIONAL NIGHTMARE IS UPON US’

President Trump said Thursday that China should investigate Hunter Biden’s business dealings, as he doubled down on his prior call for Ukraine to do the same. Trump struck a characteristically defiant tone while speaking to reporters on the White House South Lawn, en route to Florida.

CNN ANCHOR SLAMS PENCE ON RESPONSE TO TRUMP-UKRAINE CALL: ‘WE ALL KNOW’ THAT HE’S ‘LYING’

In the controversial Juy 25 telephone call, President Trump requested his Ukrainian counterpart for help with a probe into Hunter Biden’s dealings with gas company Burisma Holdings, where Hunter served on the board, and the elder Biden’s role in ousting a prosecutor who had been looking into that company.

The phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky prompted a whistleblower complaint and Democrats have deemed the request an impeachable offense.

“Whistleblowers should be protected,” Sen. Ernst said, agreeing with her Iowa Republican colleague, Sen. Chuck Grassley, who said this week that the whistleblower “ought to be heard out and protected.”

Ernst told Haskins that Trump is “going to say whatever the president is going to do” and that she cannot “speak for him.”

“I know you can’t speak for him, but you can speak for yourself,” Haskins fired back.

“And I do,” Ernst replied.

Haskins asked Ernst whether Trump should be “encouraging other countries to investigate his political rivals.”

Ernst answered that “corruption, no matter where it is, should be ferreted out.”

If President Trump addresses 50,000 Indians, and the major-network news shows ignore him, does he make a sound?

This rhetorical question has real-world significance given the media’s “Big Lie” that Donald Trump is an immigrant-hating racist and anti-Semite. Leftist presidential contenders parrot this mendacious garbage around the clock.

“We’ve got a president right now who is a racist,” Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., claimed in a Sept. 21 speech. Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., said in August, “We have a president that [sic] contributes his bigoted, racist rhetoric.”

Meanwhile, the old-guard media cover-up President Trump’s outreach to immigrants, blacks, Jews, and others whom actual bigots bash.

At least three significant events demonstrate how the big media bury Trump’s bridge-building and, thus, keep the U.S. in a divided, racially explosive rage.

Unable to comment on Instagram, fans rushed to Twitter to voice their concerns.

“Is it just me or @khloekardashian did something to her face?????” one fan tweeted.

“I looked crazy and I still think the effects are in there. I went to have it all dissolved like, three times.”

More recently she backtracked and admitted about plastic surgery: “One day I think I’ll get one because I think about it everyday. But I’m scared, so for now it’s all about contour.”
