Mark Levin: ‘Unpatriotic’ news media hates Trump, treats ‘half of America’ contemptuously

Many Americans have tuned-out the mainstream media — in part because many news outlets show contempt for President Trump and his supporters, and because of the news outlets’ often egregious choice in guests, according to Mark Levin.

“The vast majority of America has never heard of Jim Acosta or Brian Stelter or any of these other people — they don’t know who they are — but when they watch them, they don’t like them,” Levin claimed Wednesday on “Hannity.”

“They’ve turned off half of America. They treat half of America with utter contempt. … The days of Huntley-Brinkley and Howard K. Smith are long over. They bring in a porn actress hundreds of times, [Michael Avenatti] hundreds of times, and they bring on a neo-Nazi … to try to attack the president.

MARK LEVIN: LAWRENCE O’DONNELL’S TRUMP-RUSSIAN OLIGARCH CLAIM PROVES WHY MEDIA ISN’T TRUSTED

“And what do we hear, day in and day out, from our unpatriotic media? That the president is Hitler — Do they know who Hitler is? — That the president is Stalin, that he’s Mussolini.”

Levin later blasted one tactic the press has used against Trump: having a certified psychiatrist question the president’s sanity.

More from Media

He said some media outlets invited Yale University professor Dr. Bandy Lee on air to discuss Trump’s mental state, noting Lee authored a book called, “The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump.”

“Guess what?” Levin said. “They pulled that same one in 1964 against Barry Goldwater.”

Levin held up a magazine headline reading that more than 1,000 psychiatrists claimed that Goldwater — a Republican U.S. senator from Arizona who was GOP’s presidential nominee in 1964 — was, “psychologically unfit to be president.”

“The American Psychiatric Association told them to cut it out,” he said.

The “Life, Liberty & Levin” host added Trump has been friendlier to the press than many past presidents, including those who “shut down newspapers.” Levin mentioned how former President John Adams signed the 1798 Alien and Sedition Acts, which prohibited writing, printing, uttering or publishing, “any false, scandalous and malicious writing.”

“Unlike FDR and JFK and LBJ, Trump hasn’t unleashed the IRS against a single news publisher,” Levin said. “They did.”

Reward up to $20G offered as search continues for husband-wife murder suspects who ‘overpowered’ Utah officers

Authorities offered up to $20,000 Wednesday for information leading to the capture of an “armed and dangerous” married couple wanted for murder in Arizona who police say overpowered guards, escaped a transport vehicle bringing them across the country in Utah and evaded a two-day manhunt.

The U.S. Marshals Service has been poring through dozens of tips since Blane Barksdale, 56, and Susan Barksdale, 59, were last seen in Blanding, Utah, on Monday. The agency hopes to get more leads by offering the reward money — $10,000 per fugitive.

“We’re getting tips left and right and looking into the validity of each one,” U.S. Deputy Marshal Michael Adams told the Associated Press.

Other agencies, including the FBI, are involved in the sweeping manhunt for the Barksdales. Police say the couple somehow “overpowered two security officers” while being transported from Henrietta, N.Y., to Pima County, Ariz., where they are wanted for the murder of Frank Bligh.

They were last seen driving a red GMC Sierra pickup truck with damage to the front passenger door and rear bumper, police said. Authorities believe the husband and wife already left Utah and may be driving through Arizona.

The suspects were arrested May 24 in upstate New York and charged with first-degree murder, burglary, arson and auto theft in connection with the disappearance of Bligh, 72, who was reported missing following the April 16 fire and explosion at his Tucson home. Bligh’s car was found abandoned the day after the fire. While his body has not been found, investigators say evidence in the car indicated he was likely dead. The Barksdales were later identified as suspects.

Former FBI Director James Comey may be heading for trouble when details of an “imminent” report from the Justice Department’s inspector general become available, Fox News’ Sean Hannity said Wednesday.

“It’s not looking good for … Mr. Super Patriot, a guy that knows better than us,” Hannity said on his television program. “We are told that the report will strongly rebuke the disgraced former FBI director, document his utter lack of candor. That means lying,” Hannity said.

“And we’re also being told that the report … has referred Comey for federal prosecution for stealing government documents, leaking confidential government memos that detailed conversations with the president a clear violation of the Espionage Act.”

News of the report’s impending release comes from a report by the Washington Examiner’s Byron York.

According to York, the Comey report is separate from a larger report on how the Justice Department handled the Trump-Russia investigation but it wasn’t clear why a separate Comey report was deemed necessary.

The Fox News host warned that Comey should be worried about facing the repurcussions for his alleged actions.

“Without a doubt Comey should be sweating a lot tonight about what might be in those reports. This report is expected to be the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Jim Comey,” Hannity said.

Lindsey Graham slams CNN for hiring Andrew McCabe, ‘alleged architect’ of anti-Trump conspiracy

During an appearance on “Hannity” on Wednesday night, Sen. Lindsey Graham, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, criticized CNN for hiring fired former acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe as a political commentator.

“CNN has just hired the alleged architect of a criminal conspiracy against the Trump campaign,” Graham said. “So how much time and attention do you think they’re going to get the Horowitz report when they hired the guy that Horowitz is investigating?”

The South Carolina Republican was referring to Michael Horowitz, the Justice Department inspector general, who is preparing a report on how the Justice Department initiated its investigation into possible ties between Russia and the Trump campaign.

EX-FBI DEPUTY DIRECTOR ANDREW MCCABE SUES DOJ OVER DISMISSAL

Earlier this week, federal prosecutors appeared to be close to a decision on whether to charge McCabe over the circumstances that led to his firing from the bureau last year.

Graham reiterated that CNN’s coverage of the upcoming Horowitz report would likely be influenced by the network’s decision to put McCabe on its payroll.

“How seriously do you think they’re going to take the Horowitz investigation, which is really a shame?” Graham asked.

The senator also commented on whether former President Barack Obama or his administration were briefed on the DOJ’s investigation into the Trump campaign.

“The bottom line is, who briefed President Obama, if anybody, about the counterintelligence investigation against the Trump campaign,” Graham said.

“And finally, why did they not tell the Trump campaign that they had concerns about people working for him tied to Russia? That’s what you’re supposed to do in a counterintelligence investigation.”

MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell apologizes for unverified Trump-Russia report: ‘We are retracting the story’

MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell kicked off his show Wednesday night by apologizing for running an unverified report that directly tied President Trump‘s finances to Russia, which he retracted.

“Last night on this show, I discussed information that wasn’t ready for reporting,” O’Donnell said. “I repeated statements a single source told me about the president’s finances and loan documents with Deutsche Bank saying ‘if true’– as I discussed the information– was simply not good enough. I did not go through the rigorous verification and standards process here at MSNBC before repeating what I heard from my source. Had it gone through that process, I would not have been permitted to report it. I should not have said it on-air or post it on Twitter. I was wrong to do so.”

WHITE HOUSE SLAMS MSNBC FOR UNVERIFIED REPORT, SAYS LEFT-WING OUTLETS HAVE ‘WEAPONIZED’ THE MEDIA

He went on to acknowledge the letter he and NBCUniversal received by Trump’s legal counsel demanding a retraction and an apology for the “aforementioned false and defamatory” reporting and threated to take legal action.

“This afternoon, attorneys for the president sent us a letter asserting the story is false. They also demanded a retraction. Tonight, we are retracting the story,” O’Donnell continued. “We don’t know whether the information is inaccurate. The fact is we do know it wasn’t ready for broadcast and for that I apologize.”

On Tuesday night, O’Donnell and fellow far-left MSNBC host Rachel Maddow discussed how Trump was “able to obtain loans when no one else would loan him any money” when he tossed out the unverified speculation.

TRUMP MOCKS NYT’S BRET STEPHENS: MY RESORT DOESN’T HAVE ‘BEDBUGS,’ BUT HE’S LOADED UP WITH THEM!’

“I may have some information, in this next hour, which would add a great deal to their understanding of that, if true, and I’ll be discussing it here,” O’Donnell said. “I stress ‘if true,’ because this is a single source who has told me that Deutsche Bank obtained tax returns… this single source close to Deutsche Bank has told me that Donald Trump’s loan documents there show that he has co-signers. That’s how he was able to obtain those loans and that the co-signers are Russian oligarchs.”

A stunned Maddow leaned back in her chair and responded, “What? Really?”

O’Donnell added “that would explain every kind word Donald Trump has ever said about Russia and Vladimir Putin” if his information is accurate.

The “Last Word” host and MSNBC were widely panned by critics for running the story, calling it “grossly irresponsible.” The White House blasted the report, pointing to “left-wing outlets” that have “weaponized the media.

“This is one of the reasons that a majority of Americans have lost trust in the media. Instead of applying ethics and standards to their reporting, journalists and left-wing outlets have weaponized the media, using it to attack and harass people with little to no regard for the truth,” White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham told Fox News.

O’Donnell took to Twitter earlier in the day and walked back the report, referring to it as an “error in judgment.”

Akron police said they were investigating whether Gaffney was connected to the first burglary.

“If he had reached his hand towards a pocket or something where I thought that he might have had one of the guns that went away last night or the night before, then I might have been tempted to do that,” said McGown, who reportedly has a concealed-carry permit.

The media continues to lose credibility among the American people as pundits continue to lob questionable claims against President Trump, according to Mark Levin.

A questionable claim from MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell about the president’s loans from a German bank was the latest example, Levin said Tuesday on “The Mark Levin Show” on Westwood One.

“These newsrooms have used such experts and witnesses as a porn actress, her lawyer, a neo-Nazi, an anti-Semitic professor, race-baiting professors, a psychiatrist — Bandy Lee — who accused the president of mental illness, a phalanx of Obama administration officials with their vicious allegations, [and] Never-Trumpers,” he said.

“They wonder why they’re not trusted. The media are not destroying themselves, the media have destroyed themselves. Half of the country doesn’t trust them.

Levin said O’Donnell was doing both the journalism profession and the American people a disservice by making baseless and damaging claims against Trump.

“How does this better inform the American people, when essentially these so-called journalists and hosts … are free to basically say whatever the hell they want to?”

Palestinian Harvard freshman, 17, allegedly blocked from entering US over friends’ social media posts

Ismail Ajjawi, a 17-year-old Palestinian student living in Lebanon had big plans to study medicine this fall at Harvard University but claims he was blocked from entering America because of his friends’ social media posts.

Akkawi was refused entry into the U.S. after he landed Friday at Logan International Airport in Boston, university and federal officials told the Associated Press this week. The freshman said the denial had to do with politically oriented social media posts by his friends.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) spokesman Michael McCarthy said that the decision to cancel Ajjawi’s visa was based on information discovered during an inspection, but did not specify what that information was. McCarthy added that Ajjawi was not deported, meaning he still could seek reentry.

Harvard has been working to resolve the matter, university spokesman Jason Newton said. AMIDEAST, a nonprofit organization that awarded Ajjawi a scholarship, was providing legal assistance.

Ajjawi told The Harvard Crimson student newspaper that federal agents detained him at the airport for eight hours, searched his cellphone and laptop, and questioned him about his friends’ social media posts.

The posts included “political points of view that oppose the U.S.,” Ajjawi said in his written statement.

“I responded that I have no business with such posts and that I didn’t like, (s)hare or comment on them and told her [the agent] that I shouldn’t be held responsible for what others post,” he added.

Ajjawi told The Crimson he still hoped to join his classmates in time for the start of classes Tuesday. His family has lived in a camp for Palestinian refugees in the port city of Tyre in southern Lebanon

In an Al-Araby TV interview that aired Friday as his son was flying to the U.S., Bassel Ajjawi had this message for his son: “I am very proud of you and hope you will be an exemplary representative of the Palestinian people abroad.” Bassel Ajjawi has declined to comment beyond his son’s statement to the Crimson.

North Carolina college student studied mass shootings, kept guns in dorm, prosecutors say

A North Carolina university student who studied mass shootings planned to shoot himself and his roommate if he didn’t get accepted to a fraternity, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Paul Steber, 19, of Boston, Mass. was arrested Tuesday and charged with two felony counts of having weapons on campus and a charge of making threats of mass violence, High Point police said in a statement. The 19-year-old is a freshman at High Point University.

Steber was found with a double-barrel 12-gauge shotgun and a 9mm semi-automatic pistol. It wasn’t clear what type of ammunition was retrieved.

Students reported the weapons to school security, which confiscated the firearms and alerted law enforcement.

“This incident illustrates the importance of the public reporting suspicious activity to authorities,” the police statement said. “Information from the public is often the critical first step in preventing acts of mass violence.”

In addition to having the weapons, Steber watched videos on how to carry out a mass shooting, Assistant District Attorney Lori Wickline said in court.

“He told officers that he definitely had a plan, something that he had been thinking about since Christmas of last year,” she said.

“And, he had been recently watching videos of the Charleston mass shooting down in South Carolina and other mass shootings so that he could learn what to do and what not to do,” she added.

She said Steber planned to shoot himself and his roommate if the roommate was accepted into a fraternity and Steber wasn’t. She said Steber bought the weapons within the past week, but it wasn’t clear if they were obtained legally.

Police said Steber was ordered held without bond for a maximum of ten days and must undergo a mental health examination during that time.

“This is any parent’s worst nightmare,” defense attorney John Bryson said about Steber’s father, who had appeared in court. “He’s obviously very concerned about his son.”

Rep. Sean Duffy, R-Wis., has shed new light on his decision to retire from Congress later this year ahead of the birth of his ninth child, who is expected to be born with medical issues.

Duffy said Wednesday on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” his family comes before his rigorous but rewarding congressional responsibilities.

“Our little baby is going to be born in the middle of October,” he said.

“About two to six months after birth, she’s going to need open-heart surgery.”

The congressman said he needs to take a pause, adding that his wife, Fox News contributor Rachel Campos-Duffy, has been his “rock” throughout his professional and personal life.

“We have eight kids at home,” he said. “Congressional schedules, contrary to popular belief, are pretty rigorous… I need to take some time and be with my wife and my kids and take care of this little one that’s going to need more time from me.”

People from both sides of the aisle back home have been kind and supportive after he announced his retirement and the reasons behind it.

“It speaks volumes of the people I represent,” he explained.

In 2011, Duffy succeeded retiring Rep. David Obey, D-Wis., and will himself retire in late September.
