Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) announced her endorsement this past week for the 2020 presidential election.

The fact that she endorsed an old white male millionaire candidate, and not a woman of color, might seem a bit of a surprise, given her rhetoric. But that it was Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), her fellow socialist, is perhaps not a great shock. Because that’s always the bottom line. Her fellow “Squad” members, Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) also endorsed Sanders.

Not that there seems like a huge difference anymore between Sanders and any of the other folks in the Democratic field as they all seem to be running as far to the left as they can in order to grab the base and endorsements like AOC.

Ocasio-Cortez spoke at a rally on Saturday to endorse Sanders and proposed nationalizing many areas of the economy while arguing it would make us more free.

“We need to build a mass movement in America centered on working-class, the poor, the middle class,” she said. “One that is actively anti-racist, that is rooted in principles of universality. Everybody has a right to health care. Everybody has a right to an education. One that is rooted in principles of cooperation, that is participatory, that combats not only racism but misogyny, anti-queer discrimination, we have to have actively center those principles to drive us forward because the future and our future is in public systems, and it’s publicly owned systems. Because we need to take power over our lives again. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want Mark Zuckerberg making decisions over my life. I don’t know about you, but the Waltons have already been making decisions over our lives and what we got was nothing.”

She continued, “We need a-uh-eh-uh United States that really, truly, authentically is operated, owned and decided by working, and all people, in the United States of America.”

She said we needed to hand all of that over to the government “because we need to take power over our lives again?”

Alrighty, now. The logic seems missing there.

Isn’t that what one calls communism? When all that stuff is owned by the state?

How has that worked in the past? Should we ask the millions of people who were oppressed in such systems? Of course, many of them were killed, so we can’t ask them.

Ocasio-Cortez said it was because of Bernie Sanders that she recognized her “inherent value as a human being.”

Really? Because if you didn’t know it before and that’s what did it for you, that’s truly troubling.

Would we rather hundreds of AOCs in charge of our lives? Because that’s what you get with the government in charge, when there’s even less accountability than in the private sector that at least has to pay attention to markets and, to some extent, the opinion of the people.

Ahh, poor Hillary. Seems that the former star to be in the Democratic party has taken so much flack from her latest boof up ( that didn’t have anything to do with Bill) she is feeling a bit off. A week in advance.

Hillary, of course, landed in some hot water last week when she said on a podcast that she thought that Tulsi Gabbard and Clinton’s 2016 opponent, Jill Stein, were propped up by the Russians. That didn’t sit well with both ladies and they let Hilly have it on twitter and in standalone interviews.

Well, this coming Friday, Hillary had the chance to hit the reset button on this at a women’s forum on something and something else and she decided to cancel. Maybe because Tulsi was also going to be there?

According to the New York Post

A face-to-face confrontation between Hillary Clinton and Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard set for next Friday was averted when Clinton backed out of the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit in Washington, DC.

Clinton aides cited a scheduling conflict when she announced her withdrawal from a speaking slot at the annual event. One insider told Slate that Clinton dropped out to protest the inclusion of former Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielson on the schedule.

But Gabbard is on the bill, too — and Clinton’s pull-out came just hours after the former Secretary of State on Friday accused the Hawaii Democrat of being the “favorite of the Russians” on a podcast.

Oh, snap.

She had a prior engagement? Like what, getting her crying towel from 2016 dry cleaned? Have the house staff do it for cripes sake.

Contrary to what some people on the interwebs are speculating this is the end of Hillary. She is not secretly propping up Tulsi for a Hillary/Gabbard 2020 ticket. She is not going to try and hijack the party nomination from the sleepy former V.P. and the faux Indian. She is not secretly plotting anything at least in regard to the dumb comment she made.

This was not a strategy but stupidity. All politicians open their mouths a bit too wide sometimes. That is all this is. I will admit to being surprised that she made this error but just like athletes, politicians can get past their prime and need to go away from the game.

Will Bill & Hill still try to influence things from behind the scenes? Sure.

However, they are not the favorite former first couple right now. Democrats much prefer Barrack Obama and Michelle to anything to do with the Clintons. That “Evening with Bill And Hillary” was a pure disaster traveling the country with lousy ticket sales. They couldn’t fill those venues with people if they paid them which they practically had to do.

No one is going to listen to a two-time loser on the national stage tell ya how to get things done.

All Hillary did here gave some more free press to Gabbard and so far she has capitalized on it. She is not going to be on the national ticket though so she will have a really fun experience to recall when all this is said and done.

So chill out Clinton conspiracy buffs, you still have the Jeffery Epstein thing to chase.

Occasionally you can come across someone who is a traditional liberal that you might not agree on social constructs with but does stay consistent on issues like impeachment. Professor Alan Dershowitz is one of these people in my opinion.

Dershowitz has been on occasion one of Donald Trump’s defenders in the media. He was one of the voices saying slow down on the rush to condemn on the Russia probe. His overall point was that even those that were on Trump’s orbit at one point were indicted on things, none of the indictments ever involved the reason for the investigation. Prof. Dershowitz was right on that.

He also opposed impeaching Bill Clinton in 1998 on the evidence the Congress had than.

Now he is urging caution on the Democrats rushing to impeach based on what we have seen publicly so far.

Just as a refresher, Alan Dershowitz is a lifelong Democrat and voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.

In an opinion piece, Dershowitz wrote for The Hill

Many Democrats, including some constitutional law professors, now argue that President Trump can be impeached without evidence of high criminal acts. Some took the opposite view when President Clinton was being impeached. Hypocrisy aside, there are good historical reasons why the impeachment approach of the Democrats is wrong.

During the debates over the impeachment provisions of the Constitution, two differing views of our structure of government were presented. Some Framers argued that a president should be subject to removal by the legislature if he engaged in malfeasance of office or other comparable noncriminal misconduct. The other Framers took the view that giving the legislature such broad authority to remove a president would turn our country into the kind of parliamentary democracy that existed in England, rather than a republic with a strong executive branch.

That is why every advocate of impeachment should pass the “shoe on the other foot” test. Would you support impeachment against a president of your own party if she or he were accused of this conduct? Unless the answer to that question is yes, it would be unprincipled to engage in this process of impeachment taking place on Capitol Hill.

The very notion that with what has been released so far is enough to impeach is nonsensical. Dershowitz in the article correctly points out impeachment is a political process, not necessarily a legal one and should be taken up very carefully. That the Democrats running for President have all called for Trump’s impeachment is incredibly amusing in light of the “shoe on the other foot” theory.

Would any of them want such an incredibly low threshold to get impeached if they held the job?

Possibly the Democrats in their secret hearings that they refuse to let the public see will come across something that will convince America Trump has to be removed before the 2020 election. So far, they are being tight-lipped about what has been said in these hearings which leads me to believe they don’t have much and Adam Schiff once again sold Nancy Pelosi down the river.

I’m not going to hold my breath though that they find the silver bullet and Speaker Pelosi should look at getting better friends in Congress.

Bernie Sanders Is DARED To Visit Venezuela By An Exiled Official

Westlake Legal Group Bernie-300x153 Bernie Sanders Is DARED To Visit Venezuela By An Exiled Official Front Page Stories Bernie Sanders Allow Media Exception 2019

I Don’t Wanna Go

GO BERNIE GO!!!

One of the more shocking but honestly refreshing things about this campaign cycle is how absolutely HONEST some of those running for President are about embracing Socialism. Normally there is some measly mouthed explanation about how what government takeover they are proposing is different than Cuba, China or Venezuela. The version in America would be so much more benign of course.

Well, now, we have an idea that I think its time has come. You want to find out how great the people’s paradise is, time for you to go and visit.

Without bodyguards.

That is what one exiled assemblyman from Venezuela is suggesting for the Socialist turned Democrat every 4 years, Bernie Sanders.

From The Blaze

Video journalist Nicholas Ballasy approached Venezuelan assemblyman Jose Guerra on Tuesday, and asked the lawmaker what message he has for American politicians such as Sanders “who do not label Maduro a dictator.”

“Maybe they misunderstand what is going on in Venezuela,” Guerra replied. “It’s a dictatorship. There’s no power separation. There’s more than 400 political prisoners. They are persecuted, like me. And it’s a new dictatorship, but it’s a dictatorship, in fact.”

“I don’t know that Jesse Jackson and Bernie Sanders know in a very good way what is going on in Venezuela,” Guerra said, before adding, “I suggest Bernie Sanders take a week and go to Venezuela without bodyguards, and go [take] to the street [with his] cell phone to [see] what’s going on

Bernie and the kids that are elected officials always go on guided tours that show the best of whatever the nation has to offer. These trips are pre-planned and every moment laid out well in advance. However, you go off the beaten path for one moment you will find yourself in some deep water and in trouble.

If Maduro visited, let’s say Chicago and wanted to wander off to the south side of the city he would be welcome too. I would hope someone would advise him though Americans in Chicago on weekends nights think it is target practice with all those guns that are outlawed in Illinois. He might want to be careful.

The wonder of it all is that these pampered primadonnas love to spout off about the awesomeness of a system that has not worked anywhere in the history of the world. Collectivism by the force of government penalty is a horrible economic system and spreads misery, not happiness.

As I wrote the other day here at Red State Even With AOC And The Squad Endorsing Bernie, His Campaign Is Over I believe Sanders is going to have some free time on his hands quite soon.

He should take a trip to the workers’ paradise in South America and see how he likes it.

I won’t hold my breath and neither should he.

A Sensible Alternative Health Care Plan to Medicare For All Is Being Discussed

Steve Forbes Social Media republicans President Trump Politico Morning Briefing Media Healthcare for You Health Care Front Page Stories Featured Story donald trump democrats Congress Business & Economy biden Bernie Sanders Bernard Marcus Barack Obama Allow Media Exception 2019

A long time ago ( not really that long) in a country called the United States of America, a President and a Congress forced their fellow countryman into a plan called “Obamacare” that promised to lower costs and that you could keep your doctor.

That did not work out so well. In fact, the party that voted for that lost the majority in both chambers and a thing called the TEA PARTY REVOLUTION was born to roll that and other large government programs back.

Nine years later we still have Obamacare and healthcare is merely a talking point for the Republicans while the Democrats running for President push a thing called “Medicare For All” and take the issue back that they originally screwed up.

Well now a conservative group wants to reignite the discussion with less government is a better approach and they are launching an ad called Healthcare for You.

According to Real Clear Politics

With the presidential election year fast approaching, health care regularly ranks as one of the top issues for voters, and Republicans seem unprepared to create a contrast with their competition. Enter billionaire Bernard Marcus, co-founder of Home Depot and personal friend of Trump.

Marcus has funded a survey of more than 20,000 patients and doctors, other health care providers and small-business owners to develop a framework for a plan that his network hopes congressional and administration Republicans will adopt in time for the election. A product of the conservative Job Creators Network and Physicians for Reform, the blueprint is touted as a personalized plan to compete with Obamacare and Medicare for All.

They call it “Healthcare for You,” and they plan to spend a quarter-million dollars just rolling it out. The first television ad drops Thursday on the heels of the latest Democratic primary debate.

This has to be a multifaceted approach and I like that they will run features a spot of comic telling jokes about healthcare because it is a JOKE ( although not a funny one) what the very people who hoisted Obamacare on us. They broke it and now they want ot tell us how to fix what they broke.

If we needed to overhaul the whole system to kids could stay on their parents’ health care until 27 something is wrong with us.

Some of the proposal’s ideas include…

Changing the way health insurance is bought and sold and regulated by allowing patients to purchase coverage across state lines while giving states more regulatory power.

Lowering drug prices by targeting exemptions that currently allow pharmaceutical middlemen to skirt federal anti-kickback laws.

Creating personal health management accounts, akin to existing health savings accounts, to allow patients to pay for insurance premiums or care with pre-tax dollars.

Targeting medical malpractice laws to better protect physicians from frivolous lawsuits and excessive awards.

Maintaining protections for pre-existing conditions.

This is a good start and I’m happy that someone with a track record of success. Bernard Marcus is helping with this and Forbes CEO, Steve Forbes even tweeted his support earlier today.

The Democrats lied to the American people when they passed Obamacare in 2009 and the Republicans never had the will to overhaul it like the Dems did to pass it. This issue has been lingering on the back burner and it is long past time for conservatives to start having an open discussion on how to improve the system we have instead of the government overhaul the Dems are talking about.

Now is the time and whether or not you like Donald Trump, he just might be the guy to do the overhaul if given the chance.

The China Syndrome

Vox founder and editor Ezra Klein thinks that “Democrats need to talk about Hunter Biden. Sorry, but they do.”

Most of us likely agree with that statement.

At Tuesday night’s debate, CNN moderator Anderson Cooper did question Biden about his son. He asked:

The impeachment inquiry is centered on President Trump’s attempts to get political dirt on Vice President Biden and his son. President Trump has falsely accused your son of doing something wrong while serving on a company board in Ukraine. I want to point out there’s no evidence of wrongdoing by either one of you.

Having said that, on Sunday, you announced if you are president, no one in your family will be involved in any foreign businesses. My question is, if it’s not okay for a president’s family to be involved in foreign businesses, why was it okay for your son when you were vice president?

Remarkably, Biden got away, unchallenged, with the following answer. “My son did nothing wrong, I did nothing wrong. I carried out the policy of the United States in rooting out corruption in Ukraine. That’s what we should be focusing on.”

When it was Sen. Cory Booker’s turn to answer, he said, “I saw this play out in 2016’s election. We are … elevating a lie and attacking a statesman. That was so offensive. The only person sitting at home that was enjoying that was Donald Trump.” Okay, so let’s not ask difficult questions of candidates because they might be offended.

Booker added, “I am having deja vu all over again.” He equated talking about Hunter Biden’s position as a board member of Burisma with discussion of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private server during her tenure as Secretary of State.

Booker sees discussion of Clinton’s emails as merely a political smear? Flash to Booker. She should have been indicted for using a private server for government business, for deleting 33,000 emails (with BleachBit) she decided were personal after they’d been subpoenaed, and for destroying her old cell phones with hammers.

And, no we don’t have evidence yet that Hunter Biden broke the law, but he capitalized on his father’s position as both Vice President of the United States and as the “point man” for U.S. interests in Ukraine, by taking several million dollars from Burisma for a job he never would have been offered had his father not been Joe Biden. Hunter Biden even admitted this in his ABC interview earlier this week.

The larger problem for them lies with Joe Biden’s actions. I would argue that the evidence of wrongdoing by Joe Biden is his confession, captured on video, that he withheld $1 billion in U.S. aid until the Ukrainian president agreed to fire the prosecutor general. The only point of debate is whether Biden wanted the prosecutor fired because he was about to question his son or because, as Biden claims, the prosecutor was corrupt. I think we all know the answer to that question.

Klein argues that “Hunter Biden poses real problems for Joe Biden’s campaign, and if Democrats pretend otherwise, they’re making a mistake.”

He makes the case that, had the Democrats properly vetted Clinton during the primaries, they could have prevented her emails from becoming an issue in the general election. We all recall Sanders turning to her in a primary debate to say, “The American people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn emails.” If her nearest rival had not taken discussion of her emails off the table during the primaries, Democrats would have learned quickly that they were a serious liability, and Clinton may not have won the nomination. The nomination likely would have been handed to another candidate, presumably Bernie Sanders. (Flash to Klein: Sanders would not have defeated Trump either, but that’s beside the point.)

Klein makes the case, and I agree with him, that if Democrats don’t talk about Hunter Biden now, even if that means Biden loses the nomination, it will become an issue in the general election, and may be the reason they lose the presidency a second time to President Trump. He writes, “Democrats are afraid to talk about Hunter Biden. Trump won’t be.”

No, Trump certainly won’t be.

Time for some honest analysis after the Tuesday CNN Debate Debacle on the candidate who has raised more money in the 3rd quarter than anyone else, Bernie Sanders.

The Sanders campaign raised just over $25 million for the 3rd quarter barely beating out Elizabeth Warren at just under $25 million according to CBS News. That would have made an interesting race going into the 4th quarter of this year as the time runs short before the Iowa caucuses and the New Hamshire primaries for both of these candidates.

Then the first week of October hit and Sanders had a heart attack and that changed the makeup of this whole primary season.

The announcement yesterday that Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and the other members of The Squad will be endorsing Bernie is just a 24-hour temporary shot in the arm that will have no effect on this campaign’s demise. Nice gesture but ultimately meaningless.

So why am I saying this?

According to the CDC, Bernie Sanders was one of 790,000 Americans who have a heart attack every year. Being this was his first, he was one of 580,000 that had that happen this year. Sanders is to be commended that he took the signs seriously and had it treated immediately. This undoubtedly saved his life.

However, with all that positive news, these facts remain.

Tuesday night, anyone who was tuning in at one point or another was watching Sanders more closely than anyone else. Because of our natural curiosity to see if a 78-year-old man who is two weeks from a heart attack looks like he is ok. Every single one of us thought about it and many media outlets talked about it before the debate.

This is not meant to be mean or cruel. This is just the reality of what people think and the health reality of what a 78-year-old man who just had a major heart event goes through.

Anyone who goes through a heart attack and is lucky enough to survive has a recuperation period that has to be taken. Naturally, the younger you are, the shorter that period is generally. Bernie is, no doubt, a vibrant guy for a 78-year-old. He is also now a vibrant 78 yr old who just suffered a heart attack and wisely has been resting at home. His first campaign event since his hospital stay will be this Saturday where he will get endorsed by AOC.

However, the campaign calendar is not going to afford Bernie the time to recover. The Iowa caucuses are in 109 days and the New Hampshire primary is one week later.

I would much rather have a vigorous Bernie Sanders out on the trail making his case for his ideas and that he be defeated in that arena than for him to be sidelined like this. Plus I love Larry Davids’s impersonation of him and I want more of that.

Sanders will still be able to influence the Democratic race for the nomination from the sidelines and yes it will be from the sidelines. I’m sure all of the candidates left will be lobbying him heavily for his endorsement as they should.

However, it is only a matter of time before the lack of campaign events scheduled and the whispers of “Where is Bernie?” become the norm and ultimately force him out of the race. Sanders has proven that he is a force to be reckoned with and he still can be for many years to come.

Just not as a candidate for President of the United States.

Solidarity: Bernie scores endorsement of AOC and The Squad

Westlake Legal Group AOC-laugh Solidarity: Bernie scores endorsement of AOC and The Squad The Squad The Blog rashida tlaib Omar, Ilhan Health Endorsements democrat socialists Bernie Sanders AOC Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez 2020 Democrat debates 2020 Democrat candidates

When he’s not busy trying to score a political coup against President Trump by way of impeachment, Bernie Sanders is scoring a political coup by way of endorsements. During the Democrat debate Tuesday night, the Washington Post ran a story that Sanders will be endorsed by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Saturday.

It isn’t really a big surprise, though, because AOC worked on Sanders’ 2016 campaign. She has not hidden her admiration of Sanders as she serves in the House of Representatives. As the WaPo article points out, “she was recruited to run for Congress in 2018 by Justice Democrats, a group that grew out of the Sanders campaign.” Sanders was the first Democrat presidential candidate who endorsed her Green New Deal.

Sanders is scheduled to have a campaign rally on Saturday in Queens. The purpose is for him to get back on the campaign trail and prove he’s healthy enough to continue on in the race after suffering a heart attack. What better way to make a splash than to promise a “special guest” and then tease the upcoming endorsement of AOC? He took the opportunity to do so when he was asked about his health during the debate.

Asked about his health directly at the debate on Tuesday night, Mr. Sanders nodded to the rally and to the “special guest.”

“Let me invite you all to a major rally we’re having in Queens,” he said. “We’re going to have a special guest at that event, and we are going to be mounting a vigorous campaign all over this country.”

He also said, “I’m feeling great.”

Mr. Sanders’s campaign is billing the New York rally as his official return to the campaign trail. It had toyed with holding the rally in Prospect Park in Brooklyn, according to an aide, but settled on a park in Queens, with a backdrop of the Manhattan skyline.

And just like that Rep. Ilhan Omar jumped in and stole AOC’s thunder. She announced her endorsement of Bernie Sanders for president, too. She didn’t bother waiting for Saturday’s rally. She and Bernie had a little love fest on Twitter.

Omar and Sanders are teaming up for universal school meals. Just put “universal” in front of anything and it flies for Socialists.

But wait, there’s more. Rep. Rashida Tlaib doesn’t intend to let the moment pass without tagging along. She’s endorsing Bernie, too. The three members of The Squad will all be in New York to endorse Bernie at his “Bernie’s Back” rally. All that is missing now is for Rep. Ayanna Pressley to join in to make The Squad’s move complete.

Roughly half an hour after the Post’s report was released, CNN politics reporter Greg Krieg revealed that congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib will also be endorsing Sanders in New York on Saturday. The “Bernie’s Back” Saturday rally will be held in Queens, near Ocasio-Cortez’ congressional district and hometown, according to the Post.

Not to point to the obvious, but I will. It will be quite a spectacle to see Bernie Sanders, a Jew, standing alongside the three most publicly anti-Semitic congresswomen on stage, basking in the glow of their endorsements.

This is a blow to Elizabeth Warren, nonetheless. Last month Warren captured the endorsement of the Working Families Party. This was a big deal because they endorsed Bernie in 2016. Many of his supporters were not happy about that announcement.

Presidential endorsements from the congresswomen, both members of the group of first-term Democratic women of color known as “the squad,” were highly coveted. In addition to being among the country’s most prominent progressives, they have also become some of President Trump’s favorite foils.

Last month, Ms. Warren won the endorsement of the Working Families Party, a progressive group that endorsed Mr. Sanders during the last presidential cycle.

The endorsement was a boon to Ms. Warren’s candidacy as she aimed to position herself as Mr. Biden’s main rival and the standard-bearer for the progressive left. But it also unnerved supporters of Mr. Sanders, who criticized the endorsement process.

It is also noteworthy that within the party of special interests, three young-ish women are choosing to endorse an old white man instead of a 70-year-old white woman. The trio is comprised of a Latina American, Palestinian-American, and a Somali refugee. If Pressley joins, she would allow Bernie to run the table as she would be an African-American face with her endorsement.

I await the cries of racism and sexism. Remember when Hillary was running in 2016 and Madeleine Albright said there’s a special place in hell for women who don’t support other women? Elizabeth is on the rise. Biden is fading and Bernie is trying to stop his free fall, especially after his heart attack. We’ll see if this merry band of socialists helps him.

Biden Campaign’s 3Q ‘Cash on Hand’ Less Than Half of Top Tier Rivals; Trump Has More Cash Than All 2020 Candidates Combined

The Biden campaign’s supply of “cash on hand” at the end of the third quarter stood at just under $9 million according to a report in today’s Wall Street Journal. That compares to almost $34 million for Sen. Bernie Sanders, $25.7 million for Sen. Elizabeth Warren and $23.4 million for South Bend, IN mayor Pete Buttigieg. Even Sen. Kamala Harris had $10.5 million in cash on hand.

What, if anything, does this mean for the Biden campaign going forward? Are donors sensing that his candidacy may be irreparably damaged by Biden’s March 2016 threat to withhold $1 billion in U.S. aid unless Ukraine fired the Prosecutor General who was about to investigate his son. Maybe that, on top of all the questions about his mental acuity which surfaced over the summer, have supporters doubting his viability.

The Journal reported that Biden’s campaign raised $15.7 million and spent $17.7 million during the quarter, making it the only campaign in the top four to have spent more than they’d raised. Payroll accounted for $9 million for the period.

Senior advisor to Biden’s campaign, Symone Sanders told the Journal they believe “the primary election will be a dogfight that will continue well after the first few states have voted…This isn’t something that’s going to be over in Iowa or New Hampshire.”

According to the report, most of Sanders’ and Warren’s contributions have come from small donors. Conversely, many of Biden’s donors have contributed the maximum legal amount.

The report also showed that six of the lower tier candidates had less than $1 million in cash on hand on September 30.

Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan had about $158,000 left in the bank, and former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro —who was on the debate stage Tuesday—had less than $700,000 in available cash. Mr. Castro has said he would drop out of the race if he isn’t in the debate next month, and he hasn’t yet qualified for it.

Author Marianne Williamson, who missed qualifying for Tuesday’s debate, was down to about $725,000.

Montana Gov. Steve Bullock had less than $1.4 million in the bank—a smaller amount than even New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, who quit the presidential race in late August.

Although Biden remains ahead in some polls, Elizabeth Warren appears to be eclipsing him. Some are even calling her the new frontrunner. She certainly has momentum behind her. And she had a strong performance in last night’s Democratic debate in Ohio.

In the meantime, Matt Wolking, The Deputy Director of Communications for the Trump campaign announced that Trump/RNC had a whopping $158 million in cash on hand at the end of the quarter. On Tuesday, Wolking tweeted that “the Trump campaign, authorized joint fundraising committees, and the Republican National Committee (RNC) will report $158 million combined in cash on hand at the end of Q3.” That’s more than the total amount collected by all of the 2020 Democrats.

In past debates, the Dems have battled the reality of a strong economy; in the latest, they pledge to cripple it.

There was a notable alteration in last night’s Democratic debate for the presidency. In past versions, the hopefuls have tried to sell us on the concept that the country is doing poorly on the economic front. Only two problems with that stratagem — data saying otherwise, and polls showing most Americans are satisfied with their economic condition.

So last night, the dozen hopefuls on stage mostly resorted to a tested talking point within their party, that being class warfare. With a laundry list of giveaway programs, the reality facing these overreaching proposals is funding them. The natural solution, of course, is confiscation of wealth to do so, therefore the night was filled with the demonization of the unfairly secure, wealthy, and vile corporations.

That the rich would be targeted so is of little surprise, but what was actually vexing was the framing of things. Those vile wealthy need to have their comeuppance so their wealth needs to be confiscated for the benefit of the working class, who are said to be struggling. The ‘’Let’s go get ‘em’’ energy was palpable, but less so was the applying of common sense to their proposals — the so-called solutions.

It kicked off laughably enough with Bernie Sanders declaring that the impeachment of President Trump is valid due to him enriching himself while in office. This from Sanders, the man who has had to alter his platform talking points to demonizing ‘’billionaires’’ now, because he is himself a millionaire, in possession of three homes, while never having a private-sector job. Of course, Bernie is not ever targeting himself when going after the rich.

One of the ways they intend to glean more money into the public coffers is to levy heavier taxes on the wealthy, and not just the economic practices of the rich. They want to tax them merely for being rich. Elizabeth Warren and others favor taxation on those sitting on wealth of a certain strata. They want to tax inactivity, in other words. That is blatant wealth confiscation, no other way to describe it.

There was talk about the number of jobs being lost to automation, and there was not a single dose of self-awareness that Democrat policies are spearheading the movement. In laughable fashion, Cory Booker brought up the need to strengthen unions, saying that unions should be supported and their reach broadened all the way down to fast-food workers. This means your solution for job loss is to impose one of the factors that has spurred the use of automated kiosks, Mr. Booker.

Other proposals were equally obtuse, in that they talk of problems and then promote ideas that would exacerbate those very problems. As the Dems always enjoy demonizing big business in favor of the worker, they always forget that it is the wealthy and the corporations who hire the workers. Numerous candidates proposed getting companies to ‘‘pay their fair share’’, following the canard that companies somehow avoid paying taxes outright. Who among these vaunted economic thinkers believes that if you impose higher costs on corporations that will lead to them opening up their payroll expenses and hiring more people?

Joe Biden followed suit, desperate not to be left out of the finger-wagging Olympics. His brilliant strategy was to suggest doubling the capital gains tax. This is the primary vehicle for business investment and expansion, so chasing away investors from companies means that it will stagnate their growth. In other words, it is a jobs killer.

The amazing aspect in all of these wealth confiscation schemes is that these Democrats fall into the same trap they always do — resting on the belief that wealth and money are static. Look at Andrew Cuomo currently bemoaning all of the wealthy who have fled his state for less confiscatory areas. Look at California that is witness to a steady migration of those who can no longer tolerate the always swelling tax burdens.

The same result will occur when you draw devil horns on the rich in this country. The wealthy are just as likely to seek out offshore tax havens or even move to less aggressively needy nations. The corporations that are forced into higher expenditures will create alternative solutions. Look at how restaurant jobs have become imperiled by the forced wages imposed by Democrat laws. Note the recent news from employees of Target stores, who were granted the $ 15-hour wage increase, only to see their working hours cut way back.

This was done so that the company would compensate that new payroll expense by saving that money in paying out fewer full-time benefits. While the Democrats are crowing about fixing supposed problems they never anticipate the result of their policies. The actual economic solutions are undertaken by those who are targeted by these new policies. The results are never as successful as their intentions.
