We can Now Officially Label Ilhan Omar an Anti-LGBT Bigot

Westlake Legal Group ilhan-omar-pensive-620x317 We can Now Officially Label Ilhan Omar an Anti-LGBT Bigot West Bank Politics Palestinian Authority LGBT Israel Ilhan Omar homophobia Front Page Stories Featured Story democrats bigotry Allow Media Exception

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., listens as Office of Management and Budget Acting Director Russell Vought testifies before the House Budget Committee on Capitol Hill in Washington, Tuesday, March 12, 2019, during a hearing on the fiscal year 2020 budget. (AP Photo/Susan Walsh)

The left has made it very clear that no hindrance of the LGBT community should occur in any capacity for any reason. Supporting anything that opposes the LGBT community makes you a homophobic, transphobic, other-phobic bigot who should be shamed into oblivion by the general public.

So Rep. Ilhan Omar should definitely qualify for being the target of the mob’s rage after she failed to condemn the Palestinian Authority (PA) for banning LGBT activists from the West Bank. Right?

….right?

The news from the Jersusalem Post dropped on Saturday that the PA was banning these activists after Al-Qaws for Sexual & Gender Diversity in Palestinian Society planned to gather in Nablus at the end of the month. The PA plans to chase and arrest anyone responsible for these meetings:

Explaining the decision to ban the LGBTQ group from operating in PA-controlled areas, Luay Zreikat, spokesperson for the PA Police, said that such activities are “harmful to the higher values and ideals of Palestinian society.”

Zreikat said that the group’s activities were completely “unrelated to religions and Palestinian traditions and customs, especially in the city of Nablus.”

He accused unnamed “dubious parties” of working to “create discord and harm civic peace in Palestinian society.”

The PA police will chase those behind the LGBTQ group and see to it that they are brought to trial once they are arrested, Zreikat warned. He further appealed to Palestinians to report to the police about any person connected to the group.

Robby Starbuck brought up the fact that the woke squad members Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, the two Muslim members of Congress who have recently made a show of their hatred towards Israel (they call it “criticism” but tomato, tom-antisemitism) would definitely be woke enough to condemn the PA for such a homophobic act.

Spoiler alert: She doesn’t.

In fact, Omar immediately tried to turn the conversation back around toward Israel and it’s “violations.”

No one brought Israel up. That was just a knee-jerk reaction from Omar upon Palestine being criticized. Omar sent out one more tweet, making sure she still seemed woke by saying “we should condemn any effort to infringe upon” LGBT rights, but immediately put the attention back on Israel and it’s “occupation.”

Notice she doesn’t outright say “I condemn the Palestinian Authority for its mistreatment of LGBT peoples.” She doesn’t attempt to publicly convince the PA that what it’s doing is wrong. She doesn’t even tell the LGBT community that she stands with them against this level of state-enforced bigotry.

In the rule book crafted by the left, Omar’s silence is violence. She merely calls LGBT rights human rights, makes no other efforts to convince the PA to stand down or even reinforce her commitment to her woke values, and proceeds to turn the attention to Israel, who wasn’t even mentioned in the first place.

Btw, Israel allows LGBT members to exist within its borders, the PA doesn’t. Omar is siding with an anti-LGBT government.

By every definition of the left, Ilhan Omar is a homophobic bigot.

[WARNING: LANGUAGE]

Last week, a #superwoke dad promised to be uncivil and intolerant.

Why? Because anyone who supports Trump is a racist, a misogynist, a bigot, and/or a hate-monger.

Therefore, he’ll tell them all “F*** you”:

Let’s review:

MAGA voters are hate-monger; but he’s the one who’ll yell “F*** you.”

Trumpers are bigots; therefore, he won’t put up with their views.

Definition of “bigotry”: “Intolerance of an opposing view.”

This is where we are.

The bigotry-endorsing, hate-mongering anti-bigot/anti-hate-monger spends his time these days being a “Dad, #Feminist, (and) #GunSense Reform Advocate,” as well as an “#LGBTQ Supporter” as per his Twitter profile.

Not included: “Fan of the dictionary.”

Some people didn’t appreciate Stirling’s sentiment — such as this sh**-dealing, misogynistic, homophobic, racist bigot:

It should go without saying, of course, that they could in fact be racist, only because anyone could be racist. Including — dare I say — Democrats.

But how’s Stirling gonna retort?

Twitter user Laura Schleif swooped in to Democratsplain:

This was a good one:

Interesting commentary followed both of Anthony’s posts:

I have no idea what this is or means, but I know I love it:

Stirling’s social media statement brings to mind the wealth of  absurdity whirling about in contemporary politics. People appear to be saying things because they think they sound good, despite a total lack of anything related to reality or reason.

For more, please read:

But in the meantime, you may wanna stay away from Stirling — that anti-hate non-bigot will scream at you because you don’t agree with him.

Even If Trump’s Tweet Shifted Israel’s Decision on Omar and Tlaib, It’s Still the Right Call

Let’s say you’re throwing a party and you invite everyone. However, two of the guests you invited continue to denounce your party and accuse you of horrific things. They continuously try to stop your party from happening and discourage others from going while declaring that they have every intention of showing up themselves.

After some time, one of your friends who knows them personally says, “Dude, I would just uninvite them if I were you.”

Considering the fact that it’s likely that these two are coming to ruin your party and put you down to others while they’re there, you shrug your shoulders and disinvite these two troublemakers from entering your home.

That’s what this controversy surrounding Israel, President Donald Trump, and Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar boils down to.

The fact of the matter is that Omar and Tlaib are proven antisemites. They’re on record saying things like Israel shouldn’t get to exist as a Jewish state because it’s not Democratic enough while saying absolutely nothing about the Muslim controlled countries surrounding it. Omar also suggests that “protesters” are being unfairly killed in Gaza over an occupation by Israel, completely ignoring the fact that these “protesters” are terrorists who lob rockets at innocent civilians on the daily.

Omar also likened Israel to Nazi Germany as she and Tlaib pushed for boycott legislation.

Gee! Is it any wonder that when Trump, a trusted ally of Israels’, tweeted:

“It would show great weakness if Israel allowed Rep. Omar and Rep.Tlaib to visit. They hate Israel & all Jewish people, & there is nothing that can be said or done to change their minds. Minnesota and Michigan will have a hard time putting them back in office. They are a disgrace!”

Israeli leaders would consider it a solid piece of advice and act accordingly.

Who can blame them? Tlaib and Omar clearly weren’t coming down there to make friends and learn. They were going there to do the same thing AOC claimed to do at the border. It was a trip for damning photo-ops and bad press.

Israel knows that, Trump knows that, and I’m willing to bet that the left doing its usual “faux and show” of outrage knows that too. In fact, judging from how they talk about Israel as they’re expressing outrage, it’s what they hoped for.

Even if Trump did play a part in Israel’s decision, be it through Twitter or a phone call to Benji Netanyahu, it doesn’t matter. It was the right call. Tlaib and Omar are clearly antisemitic bigots who have shown zero kindness toward Israel and likely never plan to.

The sovereign country of Israel is well within its power to bar them from entering the country, and furthermore, is wise to do so.

Trump’s Tweet About Congresswomen Is Full of Issues but It Isn’t Racist

Westlake Legal Group trumptwitter_600x400-620x360 Trump’s Tweet About Congresswomen Is Full of Issues but It Isn’t Racist twitter Social Media rashida tlaib racism Politics Ilhan Omar governments Front Page Stories Drugs donald trump democrats crime Congress bigotry Allow Media Exception Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Dominating my feeds over the weekend was the fact that President Donald Trump tweeted out that people like Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Talib should go back to their respective countries of origin and fix the problems there if they think America is horrible.

The tweet was heralded as racist from the top of every soapbox the leftist collective could find. It even prompted Omar to retweet an article that essentially labeled all of Trump’s supporters as racist if they support him, marking the first time Omar actually labeled Trump’s following as racist.

After looking at the tweet, I can easily arrive at two conclusions. The tweet is stupid and not very well thought out, but it’s definitely not racist nor is it without its point.

Before I start getting angry tweets thrown at me from both sides, let me explain.

Let’s take a look at the tweet in question.

Trump calls out the anti-American nature of these “Democrat Congresswomen,” and notes that their countries of origin are horribly run, not at all well-maintained, and are usually corrupt.

He then tells them to go back and fix the problems those countries have, then come back and show the U.S. how to solve these problems.

Let me just skip analyzing the countries that these women either hail or descend from. I don’t think I need to point out that Somalia is a horrible place or that the area around Israel is infested with terrorism and brutal governments.

Here are the two things that should be focused on and why I think it’s important to be able to differentiate between a stupid tweet and a racist tweet. For one, Trump isn’t saying that one race is better than another, he’s calling out the governments of foreign countries which definitely aren’t as good as ours. Trying to say that the United States is just as good as Somalia is just like trying to say a lion is the same as a house cat. It just doesn’t work.

Trump didn’t say “Omar and Tlaib’s races are inferior to the white race that dominated America’s history.” That would have been a racist tweet. What he said was that these women should retreat to these countries where these governments get it horribly wrong, then upon fixing these governments where problems that these hard-leftist claim to loath really are present, come back and show us how to fix the problems at home.

It’s key that he also said that they should come back. He doesn’t denounce their citizenship within the U.S., nor does he remove the idea that they’re elected officials. In fact, his tweet very clearly recognizes both.

Trump doesn’t demonstrate racism throughout these tweets, and it appears that claims of racism are inferred rather than proven from mainstream outlets that report on it. It’s the idea that Trump would tweet something like this because he’s racist. Thing is, the tweet doesn’t touch race, just crappy governments, and last I checked, government bodies don’t qualify as races.

On top of that, Trump has a point. These women consistently act like the United States is a cruel country with horrific problems generated from its embracing of a culture that was propagated by their favorite boogieman, the white male. I feel like I shouldn’t need to point out how racist and sexist this is, but funny enough, I constantly have to.

Their anger usually comes off as ignorant, like the spoiled ranting of first-world kids who haven’t truly known what it’s like to be oppressed, or live with little hope. Trump is advocating that they truly see what it’s like to have to live in a place where you don’t get a vote based on your genitalia, and prejudice and bigotry are a standard, not an exception like it is in the country they’re in now.

That said, this tweet was horribly worded and a reeked of ignorance. While not named, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the most famous of the “progressive Democrat Congresswomen” and while being born in in the U.S., she is a descendant of Puerto Ricans, a U.S. territory. It’s a place with a increasingly bad drug problem and a good deal of its citizens live below the poverty line, but it’s not exactly the hell-hole that is Somalia, where Omar actually hails from. Tlaib’s family is from Palestinian places outside of Israel, which are infested with terrorists and brutal governments, but Tlaib was born in the United States.

I’m not defending these women. The bigotry and ridiculousness they’ve shown eclipses anything stupid that Trump has done or said, but with that in mind, I think Trump’s tweet indicates that he doesn’t know much about these women other than the fact that they’re of foreign origin. Whether he mean to or not, this comes off as ignorance, and as such makes his already un-professional tweet come off as stupid. It’s likely that when he wrote of their countries of origin, he meant where they were descended from, but that doesn’t come off in the tweet.

Two things can be true at once. Trump’s tweet can be solid in its point, and it can be a ridiculous tweet that he shouldn’t have probably tweeted out in the first place. He’s definitely punching down at lawmakers who, while they have a very loud following, are generally recognized as silly people who don’t know what they’re doing half the time.

Let me be clear. I think addressing their comments in context and slapping them down when they tend to make news is a superb idea, but throwing out statements that contain generalities that come off like whispered comment on an episode of Real Housewives isn’t.

Omar and Ocasio-Cortez aren’t the brightest bulbs in the box, but we can easily sit back and let them prove that themselves without the President’s jabs. That said, what Trump tweeted wasn’t at all racist, and I think it’s a bit ridiculous that this isn’t obvious.

This is just one more incident that proves that the word “racism” has lost all meaning.

Best-Selling Author Nicholas Sparks’s Private Christian School Comes Under Legal Fire for Banning an LGBT Club

Did you know mega-author Nicholas Sparks founded a Christian school? I didn’t.

Apparently, the joint promotes views on morality that are — brace for impact — biblical.

The North Carolina prep venture’s called the Epiphany School of Global Studies — a (as per The Daily Beast) “faith-based academy focused on world issues with an emphasis on language-learning, regular visits to other nations, and a shared understanding that ‘learning about the world’ [is] an integral part of 21st-century life.”

The school’s mission statement notes that it’s “anchored in the Judeo-Christian commandment to Love God and Your Neighbor as Yourself.”

Another anchor, however, has caused waves of oppressed sexuality in the mind of one disgruntled ex-employee.

Since 2014, epiphany’s been engaged in a fight (and not the romantic kind like in The Notebook) with former headmaster and CEO, Saul Benjamin. He claims the school enacted bigotry in various forms.

Here’s Saul’s attorney:

“Sparks and members of the Board unapologetically marginalized, bullied, and harassed members of the School community whose religious views and/or identities did not conform to their religiously driven, bigoted preconceptions.”

Saul’s alleged the school is racist, as illustrated by its small number of black students. He also asserts a board member once told him she avoids a particular black-staffed Wal-Mart. When he hired the first full-time black employee, he says, he was met with “unwelcome comments and increased scrutiny.”

And then there’s the issue of the LGBT club, as laid out by TDB:

Rumor spread that Benjamin had formed what Sparks called a “gay club,” and the Board of Trustees insisted the club be banned. Two bisexual teachers approached administrators about the group, and were allegedly threatened with termination if they continued to discuss the issue, according to Benjamin’s complaint. It further alleges that at a board meeting on Oct. 30, 2013, a Board of Trustees member claimed Benjamin was “promoting a homosexual culture and agenda.” Sparks allegedly warned Benjamin against pushing the subject, suggesting it would be “wasting time on a side issue,” according to the complaint.

That sounds like a bit of strife, but would it be illegal, given that the school is private and can therefore dictate its own values?

According to the Beast, there was a lot of resentment brewing:

By November, resentments were running high. That month, Benjamin states in his complaint that two LGBT students approached Benjamin and informed him of their plan to stage a protest during chapel. They planned to remove their clothes and announce their orientation in body paint. Benjamin says he asked the girls not to protest, claiming it “was a time for healing, not heroics.” Instead, in the Friday morning Chapel Talk, a weekly tradition at the school, Benjamin spoke about bullying, and the school’s commitment to “loving their neighbors.”

According to emails involved in the legal dispute, on November 17th, 2013, Nicholas expressed to Saul disappointment over his pressing of the gay issue:

“I told you this would happen…if you didn’t follow our advice, which was simply ‘don’t rock the boat on this particular issue.’”

Additionally, he said it was important to “make sure all Christian traditions feel especially Christian, especially as we move into the Christmas season.”

The romance writer also defended the school against Saul’s contention of racism:

“Regarding diversity, I’ve now told you half a dozen times that our lack of diversity has NOTHING to do with the school or anyone at the school. It’s not because of what we as a school has or hasn’t done. It has nothing to do with racism or vestiges of Jim Crow. It comes down to 1) Money and 2) Culture.”

A half a dozen’s a lot.

The next day, regarding the LGBT contingent, Nicholas wrote that “not allowing them to have a club is NOT discrimination.”

Furthermore:

“Remember, we’ve had gay students before, many of them. [The former headmaster] handled it quietly and wonderfully… I expect you to do the same.”

Now things get really goofy: Three days after the email, Nicholas, Saul, and the Board of Trustees met. Saul was asked to resign. He insists the A Walk to Remember author acted in a “loud, ranting and physically intimidating manner.” In the legal complaint, he also charges he was made victim of “false imprisonment,” as he wasn’t allowed to use the bathroom or speak to a lawyer.

He resigned, ending his 98-day term.

So what’s Nicholas think about all of this?

As described by The Daily Wire:

In a declaration, Nicholas Sparks denied all the allegations brought against the school, asserting that Benjamin lost his job as headmaster of the Christian school for being “aloof, even rude, elitist and dismissive of their beliefs or backgrounds.” He also claims that Benjamin intentionally tried to start an LGBT club on campus in violation of the school’s policy.

It’ll be interesting to see how all this plays out in court. If private organizations can’t defend their religious views against internal engineering, American liberty is lost. And American liberty — it seems to me — is the whole point of America.

Steven Crowder Hasn’t Done Anything Wrong

Westlake Legal Group Capture-1-620x369 Steven Crowder Hasn’t Done Anything Wrong vox Violence Steven Crowder Sexism rebuttal racism Politics jokes Internet hate speech Front Page Stories Featured Story democrats comedy Censorship carlos maza bigotry Allow Media Exception

Right now, Steven Crowder’s YouTube channel is being investigated for racist and anti-LGBT speech due to complaints being made by Vox’s Carlos Maza, popular for the “Strikethrough” video series.

Maza is upset over the fact that Crowder makes fun of his ideas and attacks him during the course of response videos Crowder makes that debunk Maza’s claims in his videos. Maza tweeted at YouTube, saying he has a thick skin, but that he’s bothered by Crowder’s attacks toward him.

YouTube responded by publically telling Maza that they’re looking into it and that they sent him a direct message over Twitter.

In response, Crowder warned his viewers that this isn’t just about YouTube attempting to shut down a channel for supposed hate speech, it’s a multi-million dollar corporation attempting to silence its loudest critics.

This is the long and short version of the story, but this short tale actually opens the door to a much larger conversation that needs to be had. This conversation can easily be started with a simple question: “What is hate speech?”

Crowder did, in fact, call Maza a “lispy queer,” and a “gay Mexican.” In today’s politically correct world this is enough to send clutching hands to the nearest pearls. However, as Crowder said in his update video about the attacks on him by Vox to silence him, these are a combination of both friendly ribbings — something he does with his own co-hosts — and accurate descriptors that Maza himself has used to craft his identity.

In short, Maza is upset that Crowder is describing him accurately, it’s just that Crowder is using from the position of an intellectual adversary.

So it’s not a slur. Crowder hasn’t called for the actual destruction of anyone in the LGBT community and has made it clear that bringing anyone to physical harm is not something he’s okay with at all. He also hasn’t used LGBT terminology that Maza hasn’t used to describe himself. In truth, Maza doesn’t have a leg to stand on.

We as a society have to draw a true line as to where and what we can consider hate speech because, at this time, that goal post seems to be moving by the hour.

For instance, Maza can suggest that Fox New’s Tucker Carlson is in line with White Supremacists because his content generates racist sympathies and suggests that Carlson himself isn’t concerned with things like immigration policies, but concerned with people are “different.” However, since Maza never calls Carlson any fun names, suggesting that Carlson is guilty of racism isn’t hate speech.

However, videos like Maza’s generate a dangerous narrative that Carlson is a dangerous racist promoting hate and violence. It’s a narrative that some have taken very seriously, and they wind up at Carlson’s doorstep threatening him with physical injury and attempting to gain access into his home while his wife and daughters hide in a closet.

At this time, I haven’t seen or heard Maza denounce this kind of treatment of the right as I have seen Crowder denounce that kind of behavior toward the left. If I’m wrong, then by all means, please let me know and I’ll make the correction. At this time, all I have is Maza promoting the idea of assaulting people because he doesn’t like their politics, so my faith in his goodness is a bit shaky.

Yet, Crowder can deconstruct Maza’s arguments with actual points that don’t accuse a person of horrid behavior with the exception of dishonest journalism. It’s only hate speech because Crowder referred to him in ways Maza refers to himself.

Hate speech, at least as I understood it, is a malicious attack on a certain race, group, or religion with unfounded accusations and calls, or suggestions, for violence. We popularly associate hate speech with ideals given by the Nazi party and verbalized by Hitler. We still hear it today, only it doesn’t come from the right.

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D) suggested: “Israel has hypnotized the world.” Celebrated feminist activist Linda Sarsour said that the flagging popularity of the Democrat party is due to the “Jewish media.” Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib said she gets a “calming feeling” when she speaks about the Holocaust and made the false claim that Islamic countries were trying to help Jewish people.

These are awful things to say, and yet the media and fellow Democrats work overtime to run defense for it all. What’s more, it doesn’t just stop at speech against Jewish people. White males are consistently targeted by politicians, activists, and the media. In fact, YouTube itself is fine with videos from the likes of Buzzfeed, MTV, and Huffington post that blanket-blame white people for every problem under the sun, while also stereotyping them.

Crowder is known to do this too, only Crowder is doing it for comedic purposes and isn’t at all hateful toward the people he lampoons. MTV, BuzzFeed, and Huffington Post are deadly serious.

Not only is this hypocritical, it shows us the left’s cards. It’s unofficial motto is “it’s okay when we do it.” Even CNN’s Chris Cuomo says as much during his defense of Antifa’s violence…twice. The left’s mentality is that they can say and do whatever they want because they feel their racism, sexism, bigotry, and even violence is for the greater good. Crowder’s verbal jabs, however, are an avenue to evil.

But more importantly, Crowder is usually right in his rebuttals and criticism. This pulling back the curtain is dangerous to an ideological group whose messages and narratives really only thrive in a vacuum. That, beyond anything else, has to be silenced.

Crowder has done absolutely nothing wrong, especially by the standards set by the left. In truth, his crime is saying they’re wrong and proving it.

Democrats have a very strange strategy for duping the daft: They take certain issues and refer to the left-wing side as representing all women. Or minorities. Or gays. Or the poor. And, I assume, they just hope their pitched notion will enter the ears of America, bypass the critical thinking part of the brain, and store itself right in the ol’ cranial hard drive.

Voilà.

Haven’t you heard? All women are liberal Democrats.

Example: Seemingly mentally disturbed Pennsylvania state Rep. Brian Sims harassed a pro-life senior citizen and three pro-life teenagers in front of a Planned Parenthood (here and here). After a buttload of condemnation, he made a sorta non-apologetic apology (see the article by RedState’s Brandon Morse) promising he “will do better, for the women of Pennsylvania” by protecting abortion.

Cerebral problemo: The elderly person and three teenagers were women, too.

Also intellectually unworkable, incidentally: He called them bigots:

Definition of bigot: Someone intolerant of an opposing view.

#FAIL.

Here’s a fresh shock to those who believe the gaggle of goobs slingin’ the girl-power goofiness: According to FEC data, in the first quarter of 2019, more women donated to Donald Trump’s re-election campaign than to any Democratic 2020 candidate.

But…how is that possible?

Oh, yeah — ’cause o’ brains.

In Q1, 10,375 chicks donated to, I guess, non-women’s issues. That’s more than double the sassy ladies who coughed it up for Kamala Harris — the leading Dem for female financiers.

She received dough from a wimpy 3,850.

To be fair, Trump per-lass average was lower than Kamala’s and Kirsten Gillibrand’s. I’m sure that can be spun any way you please.

Here’re the numbers for benefacting babes:

Big DT: 10,375
Kamala Harris: 3,850
Bernie Sanders: 3,271

The left has done some pretty outrageous things in order to hinder the success of the recently released Unplanned movie surrounding the true story of Abby Johnson’s transformation from a Planned Parenthood director to a pro-life activist after witnessing an abortion at 13 weeks.

The latest, and possibly laziest attempt, is attempting to convince people that the movie may result in terrorism.

Writing for The Cut, Caitlin Moscatello penned an article titled “Unplanned Is a Movie That Could Get Someone Killed,” wherein Moscatello attempts to reason that the movie may lead some to radicalize against the abortion industry, which may lead to deadly violence.

Moscatello first attempts to paint anti-abortion protesters who pray in front of abortion clinics as — and I’m not kidding — “sanitized harassment.” This, after attempting to tell its audience that an abortion wouldn’t bother a fetus since it doesn’t feel pain until it’s 24th week of gestation.

Moscatello’s facts are out of date, and while it’s still unclear what a baby feels at 13 weeks, we now know it can begin feeling pain as early as 15.

After sneering in type at the movie some more with social justice laden sexism and racism in tow, Moscatello finally gets around to making her point. The movie gets its message across well…in fact, maybe too well. As a result, people may be taken in by the movie and resort to terrorism.

Moscatello points to a scene involving the off-screen death of abortionist George Tiller who was shot and killed by an anti-abortion radical and attempts to sell the reader that the movie could create more killers thanks to messaging from right-leaning figures like Rush Limbaugh or Bill O’Reilly, which she blames for any violence against abortionists.

“It is films like Unplanned that could get more people killed,” wrote Moscatello.

Tiller notes there are hundreds of Planned Parenthood locations, but it only takes one of the hundreds of thousands who have watched Unplanned to do violence.

“There are currently 357 Planned Parenthood health centers that provide abortions in the U.S., and already, hundreds of thousands of people have viewed Unplanned,” wrote Moscatello. “It would only take one of them to create a real-life tragedy.”

Moscatello then noted her time in the theatre watching the movie herself alongside those who came to see the movie due to their agreement with the message. She notes that a woman nodding along to the message of the film, and one man raising his hands in the air near the end (a typical Christian sign of worship and prayer) gave her a feeling that she was “witnessing something scary,” and then proceeded to notice how normal everyone looked when the lights came on:

Toward the end of Unplanned, Johnson’s character tells members of the coalition that in her eight years at Planned Parenthood, she had seen lots of women drive away when they saw protesters praying outside the clinic. “It works,” she says to the other characters, but really, the audience. The message is as subtle as an infomercial: Take to the clinics. It works. In the theater I was in, a woman with white hair nodded and a man in the third row raised his arms up to the ceiling, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was witnessing something scary.

Then the lights came on, and everyone looked perfectly nice.

This is astounding bigotry on Moscatello’s part, and painting normal, everyday Americans as dangerous, because they agreed with a film that killing babies is bad, says a lot more about her than it does the movie, right-leaning opinion, or the pro-life movement.

If she wants to see radicalization as a result of propaganda, then I can point to a boatload of left-leaning criminals who engaged in violence both in the past and the present that Moscatello would likely not like to answer for, or at least make excuses about.

Perhaps she would like to discuss the multitude of shooters who were registered Democrats or the consistent violence of Antifa?

I also wonder if Moscatello’s concerns for violence causing propaganda extends to Democrat politicians encouraging literal confrontation in the streets, which their supporters did, by the way. In fact, some people can’t step outside wearing a MAGA hat without running into an assault or threat of some form.

Going through Moscatello’s articles on The Cut, I’m not seeing much from her addressing these things, and I doubt we ever will.

Dems worry: Does the fact that white men top our presidential polls and fundraising mean we’re hypocrites?

Behold the uncomfortable collision between progressive identity politics and everyone else outside that bubble. At the beginning of this primary cycle, everyone assumed that the Democratic presidential nominee would be either a woman, a person of color, or both. After all, the party’s leadership can’t talk about practically anything else except the authenticity of identity these days.

So … why are the top polling leaders and fundraisers almost all white dudes? The Hill reports that Democrats have grown concerned over a lack of diversity at the top:

Less than a year after women altered the political landscape and helped win back the House, some Democrats are voicing disappointment that presidential bids launched by women haven’t completely taken off.

Six Democratic women are running for president in a dramatic increase from previous years. But just one, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), is in the top tier of the 18 candidates in the race.

And Harris is just outside the very top tier of the race, according to polls that consistently show former Vice President Joe Biden, who has yet to enter the contest, and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) at the very top of the pyramid. …

“A few months ago, I imagined the top tier looking very different, especially after the 2018 midterm wins and the ‘Me Too’ movement,” one female Democratic strategist said. “It’s still early, but it is a little frustrating.”

The worry increased this week when Pete Buttigieg’s fundraising numbers got published. The South Bend, Indiana mayor jumped into the race later than the higher-profile Senate Democrats, but he scooped up more money than all of them:

Pete Buttigieg’s presidential campaign raised more money in the first quarter of 2019 than better-known Democrats Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker and Amy Klobuchar, all U.S. senators.

Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Ind., reported $7 million in donations from individuals. Warren, D-Mass., raised $6 million. Klobuchar, D-Minn., took in $5.2 million and Sen. Booker, D-N.J., received $5 million.

Buttigieg still significantly trails Sen. Bernie Sanders, independent-Vt., who leads the field, having raised $18.2 million in the first quarter, Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., who raised $12 million and former Rep. Beto O’Rourke, D-Texas, who raked in $9.4 million. But the fourth-place showing for someone who was virtually unknown outside his hometown a few months ago was notable.

It’s notable, all right, and not just for Buttigieg. Klobuchar, Booker, and Warren all had rather lengthy pre-launch media arcs as acknowledged Serious Candidates for 2020. All three check off important demographic boxes for Democrats. And yet all of them can’t gain traction against Buttigieg and O’Rourke, both of whom have relatively small core constituencies from their offices, nor against a senator from one of the lesser-populated states in Sanders.

Note too that these fundraising reports leave out the actual polling frontrunner in the race, Joe Biden, who has yet to formally announce his candidacy. Biden can expect to pick up a lot of support from the Obama machine when he does, combined with the resources he has cultivated over almost fifty years in Washington DC. When he does jump in, it’s entirely possible that the top four slots in the 2020 primary race will be occupied by white men.

Is that because Democrats are hypocrites, and/or racist and sexist bigots hoping to keep Teh Patriarchy in place? You can bet that’d be the explanation if it happened to Republicans in this cycle. That’s not really the problem, however; the issue is that America in general is a lot less caught up in identity politics than Democrats are. They’re not prioritizing the Intersectional Identity Index when it comes to looking for presidential candidates. They want a candidate who comes closest to their preferences on policy and tone, not skin color, gender, and/or sexual preference. That’s because presidents and other elected officials have impacts on policy that matter, whereas immutable characteristics are, well, immutable.

The Hill writes that Democrats are worried about projecting a double standard. They’d better worry more about being this much out of touch with voters outside the progressive-academic bubble.

Sarah Jeong is a warning sign of something wrong with the left

Westlake Legal Group Sarah-Jeong Sarah Jeong is a warning sign of something wrong with the left The Blog Sarah Jeong racism bigotry

The more I think about it, the less I care about Sarah Jeong. I don’t think I’d ever read anything she’d written before this week and having now read a few things I don’t think I was missing all that much. That’s not meant as a slam on her ability because I think she’s actually a good writer. But the subject she writes about isn’t that interesting to me. She styles herself an expert on technology, which doesn’t mean she can rebuild a V-8 engine or repair a circuit board. In media parlance, it means she has opinions about social media. So…whatever.

I don’t even care very much about her racist tweets, per se, or even her lame excuse for making them. What does bother me is the way in which the left collectively responded to her tweets with a big shrug. Ed wrote earlier about the Washington Post piece which wonders aloud whether Jeong did anything wrong. I read the same piece this morning and this is the paragraph that stood out:

Without evidence that they had any bearing on Jeong’s extensive body of work, which includes a book she wrote about online harassment, these statements could have perhaps been unceremoniously dismissed as insignificant. But after conservative media seized on the story Thursday, they ignited a firestorm of debate.

That really sums up what bothers me about this whole story. It’s the assumption that a public comment like “White men are bullshit” would get a shrug if not for conservatives seizing on it. It’s an admission from the Post that there is almost nothing you can say about white men that anyone on the left would deem problematic (to borrow a popular SJW term of art).

The reason why Jeong’s tweets didn’t really matter to anyone on the left is that they’ve nearly all accepted the idea that racism doesn’t mean what most people think it means. Andrew Sullivan points out how the left has redefined it:

The alternative view — that of today’s political left — is that Jeong definitionally cannot be racist, because she’s both a woman and a racial minority. Racism against whites, in this neo-Marxist view, just “isn’t a thing” — just as misandry literally cannot exist at all. And this is because, in this paradigm, racism has nothing to do with a person’s willingness to pre-judge people by the color of their skin, or to make broad, ugly generalizations about whole groups of people, based on hoary stereotypes. Rather, racism is entirely institutional and systemic, a function of power, and therefore it can only be expressed by the powerful — i.e., primarily white, straight men. For a nonwhite female, like Sarah Jeong, it is simply impossible. In the religion of social constructionism, Jeong, by virtue of being an Asian woman, is one of the elect, incapable of the sin of racism or group prejudice.

Jeong was just exploring the space of this privileged position, secure that she could say just about anything without fear of blowback. Indeed, she had many defenders who refused to even acknowledge the possibility of another point of view about what she’d said. When you start from the premise that one group of people can’t be offended, you naturally wind up at the conclusion that anyone who says otherwise is being dishonest.

The editors of the Verge, where Jeong still works, described any assertion of racism in Jeong’s tweets as “dishonest and outrageous,” a function of bad faith and an attack on journalism itself. Scroll through left-Twitter and you find utter incredulity that demonizing white people could in any way be offensive. That’s the extent to which loathing of and contempt for “white people” is now background noise on the left…

Yes, we all live on campus now. The neo-Marxist analysis of society, in which we are all mere appendages of various groups of oppressors and oppressed, and in which the oppressed definitionally cannot be at fault, is now the governing philosophy of almost all liberal media. That’s how the Washington Post can provide a platform for raw misandry, and the New York Times can hire and defend someone who expresses racial hatred. The great thing about being in the social justice movement is how liberating it can feel to give voice to incendiary, satisfying bigotry — and know that you’re still on the right side of history.

That’s what really bothers me about this. It’s that one form of blatant bigotry gets a pass on the grounds that it won’t really hurt anyone. If the left thinks that’s true, I think they’re not paying attention. Sarah Jeong isn’t all that significant but what this affair says about the left’s mindset does matter.
