Longtime California Congressional Rep. Maxine Waters (D) appeared on MSNBC’s “All in With Chris Hayes” show on Wednesday to talk about the Trump/Zelensky phone call from July and What It All MeansWestlake Legal Group 2122 Watch: Mad Maxine Waters Accidentally Admits Impeachment Has Been About Orange Man Bad From Day One washington D.C. Politics North Carolina MSNBC Maxine Waters Impeachment of President Trump impeachment Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story Featured Post elections donald trump democrats Culture Congress Chris Hayes Campaigns California Allow Media Exception 2020 Elections 2020 going foward for her Democratic colleagues and President Trump.

Her answer accidentally confirmed something Republicans have been saying all along about what impeachment really has been all about for Democrats.

Hayes started off by noting that Waters had long been a staunch critic of Trump’s and a proponent for his impeachment well before the latest wave of allegations were reported. “What is different [this time]?” he asked her.

Here’s how she responded (transcribed):

“Well, obviously the difference is the speaker of the House of Representatives is now on board for a formalized impeachment inquiry and she has her caucus support in doing so. That’s extremely different.”

It’s what she stated next that gave the game away (bolded emphasis added):

“You’re absolutely right. I started a long time ago, right after the president was inaugurated, talking about impeachment and saying that he was dishonorable, he was a conman, we could not trust him. And of course I was way ahead of all this and nobody really took me seriously, but I also knew that this president was so brazen and so disrespectful of the Constitution that he was going to continue to abuse the presidential power.”

Watch:

What’s Waters really saying there in the midst of her narcissistic back-patting? She admitted without saying the actual words that before there were any allegations of wrongdoing she was already calling for his impeachment because (drumroll) she didn’t like him (this is better known as TDS).

Her suggesting she “also knew that this president was so brazen and so disrespectful of the Constitution that he was going to continue to abuse the presidential power” is nonsense, because at the time she started talking about impeachment (Feb. 6, 2017) Trump had barely been in the White House for two weeks.

Her disagreements with him at the time were about policy, not any alleged impeachable offenses.

She wanted him impeached because of political disagreements. He’s a Republican. She’s a Democrat. He defeated Hillary Clinton. Waters wanted revenge. So did a lot of other Democrats in DC.

So she got the impeachment ball rolling based on those two non-issues.

The reason Democrats “didn’t take her seriously” at the time was not because they disagreed with her, but because she was giving up the game way too soon.

And guess what? Their reasons haven’t changed. The impeachment rationale for Democrats now is the same as it was back when Waters and Rep. Al Green (D-TX) were among the few calling for it at the time: Orange Man Bad.

While Waters’ and the left’s rationale for impeaching Trump hasn’t changed over the last 2 and a half years, what has changed is how Maxine Waters herself views impeachment. Here’s what she said about it in 1998 when President Bill Clinton was being impeached for, you know, things that were actually impeachable offenses:

Keep being you, Mad Maxine. Keep being you.

The dictionary defines psychosis as a severe mental disorder in which thought and emotions are so impaired that contact is lost with external reality. The person with this condition usually isn’t aware of his or her behavior. Democrats appear to be afflicted with this condition.

Devastated by Trump’s victory nearly three years ago and unable to accept it to this day, they are convinced of the alternate reality they have created. Instead of moving through the typical stages of grief and ultimately reaching acceptance, they remain stuck in denial. Their group malady has caused enormous damage to the country and it’s time for some shock therapy.

The reality which they are currently rejecting is that the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s office was engaged in an investigation of Burisma Holdings in 2016. Their examination turned up a series of odd payments being made to a company owned by then-Vice President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, and his business partner. Naturally, it was difficult for them to comprehend why Hunter, who had no previous business experience in the energy industry, had earned $3 million from Burisma between 2014 and 2015. Knowing that Joe Biden had been appointed by the Obama administration in early 2014 as their “point man” for Ukraine, investigators obviously suspected this arrangement might be corrupt and required further scrutiny.

In December 2015, the New York Times published a story that Burisma was under investigation. Joe Biden then learned that his son was about to be questioned by the prosecutor general’s office and the pressure from Biden (and the Obama administration) to prevent this from happening began.

In January 2016, the White House invited Ukrainian prosecutors to Washington to meet their US counterparts to discuss ways to fight corruption.

The Hill’s John Solomon described this meeting in a recent article:

The meeting, promised as training, turned out to be more of a pretext for the Obama administration to pressure Ukraine’s prosecutors to drop an investigation into the Burisma Holdings gas company that employed Hunter Biden and to look for new evidence in a then-dormant criminal case against eventual Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, a GOP lobbyist.

U.S. officials “kept talking about how important it was that all of our anti-corruption efforts be united,” said Andrii Telizhenko, the former political officer in the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington who organized and attended the meetings.

Solomon spoke to Nazar Kholodnytsky, Ukraine’s chief anti-corruption prosecutor, who had attended the meeting, shortly afterward. Kholodnytsky told him he saw evidence in Ukraine of political meddling in the U.S. election.

Still, the investigation into Burisma continued. In March 2016, Joe Biden took matters into his own hands and threatened to withhold $1 billion in aid unless the prosecutor who was about to question his son was fired. The Ukrainian government, close to bankruptcy, was forced to comply and Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin was fired.

The Vice President of the United States was ready to withhold $1 billion in aid to Ukraine to prevent legal problems for his son. This was an egregious abuse of power.

All of this, of course, is well documented. Biden himself boasted about it. (Why would he ever do that?)

Fast forward to July 25, 2019.

President Trump asks new Ukrainian President Volodymyr to reopen the investigation which Joe Biden improperly forced the former President to end in March 2016, threatening to withhold aid.

Trump was asking for Biden’s corrupt action to be reversed.

A whistleblower who is said to be highly partisan and who did not hear the conversation between President Trump and President Zelensky files a complaint with the Intelligence Community Inspector General. I won’t take you through the sequence of events of the last week because we are all too familiar with them.

    A media uproar follows.

On Tuesday, President Trump announces he will release a transcript of the call on Wednesday.

Democrats, who have been demanding the transcript for days say that’s not good enough. MSNBC’s Chris Hayes worried about the trustworthiness of the transcript.

    As did CNN’s Jake Tapper.

Before even reading the transcript which will be released hours from now, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi announced a formal impeachment inquiry against President Trump. Democrats have seen no evidence yet. Neither the whistleblower or the Director of National Intelligence have testified before Congress, but that didn’t stop Pelosi from holding a press conference. Lawmakers in the House have not even taken a vote on this measure.

Recall the definition of psychosis above. Pelosi’s press conference showed that her “thoughts and emotions were so impaired that contact was lost with external reality.” It appeared that she wasn’t “aware of his or her behavior.” She was convinced of the alternate reality she (and the Democrats) have created. And she remains stuck in denial.

Red State’s Thomas LaDuke wrote last month about the left’s aggressive push to abolish the Electoral College on grounds that it somehow punishes minority voters. The movement was recently amplified in an Instagram Live video done by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) as well as tweets she posted claiming black, Latino, and Indian voters were being “disenfranchised” by the Electoral College.

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) had the audacity to respond to AOC’s claims at the time:

… which prompted Democrats like MSNBC’s Chris Hayes to make laughable arguments about how “if [the Electoral College] wasn’t specifically in the Constitution for the presidency, it would be unconstitutional”:

And in a lengthy piece were he absurdly argued AOC “understands democracy better than Republicans do” (which she retweeted), New York Times columnist Jamelle Bouie asserted that arguments like Crenshaw’s in favor of the EC are “part and parcel of the drive to make American government a closed domain for a select, privileged few.”

In other words, racism, y’all. Because when all else fails, that is the card Democrats like to play.

In the middle of the Labor Day holiday weekend, Crenshaw clapped back in a video response in which he countered Hayes, Bouie, and other Democrats like AOC on abolishing the EC:

“A Republic is more stable,” Crenshaw said in the video. “It’s also more representative of the entirety of the country.”

He went on to note that a Republic has “institutional checks and balances between the three branches of government and an emphasis on state’s rights, so it’s really difficult to ram through sweeping policy that affects the entirety of the country.”

Crenshaw also stated that “because we have an equally apportioned Senate and Electoral College, it means smaller states have a voice. Smaller, more rural states actually have a voice both in the Congress and when electing our president.”

Watch his full video response below:

He also posted a series of tweets on this topic:

MSNBC’s Chris Hayes Shockingly Makes the Case For the Census Counting Citizens

Westlake Legal Group chris-hayes-620x317 MSNBC’s Chris Hayes Shockingly Makes the Case For the Census Counting Citizens reapportionment Politics MSNBC Media immigration Front Page Stories Featured Story electoral college democrats Citizenship Question Chris Hayes census Allow Media Exception

To the best of my knowledge and belief, no one has ever accused MSNBC’s Chris Hayes of being smart. I’m not saying that it hasn’t happened at sometime in the past but it certainly hasn’t happened recently. Yesterday, his own show released this clip of Hayes lecturing an audience on the constitutionality of the Electoral College. Here he is assuming his past persona as an adjunct professor (which is basically like being an Uber driver for unemployed pseudo-academics0.

I think there’s actually a deeper philosophical thing happening of what is American democracy is for. And the weirdest thing about the Electoral College is the fact if it wasn’t specifically in the Constitution [dramatic splayed finger gesture pointing towards the heavens] for the presidency, it would be unconstitutional.

Huh? Do you know what, if the 13th Amendment wasn’t in the Constitution, it would be unconstitutional as was the case before it was passed. What kind of faux insight is this. The sad thing is that Hayes is thinking he’s making a deep point and one must presume anyone stupid enough to want to be in Hayes’s studio audience was suitably impressed and went away muttering this nugget to themselves. I’ll probably see it on twitter a few hundred times today.

What he misses is the obvious: people don’t elect the president, states elect the president. The Electoral College was how small states, like Delaware and Connecticut, were convinced to join the union. Without it, the nation as it has existed since 1787 ceases to exist and becomes something entirely different.

Let’s move away from his jihad against the Electoral College and focus on the second part.

Here’s what I mean by that. Starting in the 1960s, 1961, specifically, the Supreme Court started developing a jurisprudence of [dramatic index finger gesture] “one person, one vote.” The idea is that each individual vote has to carry roughly the same amount of weight as each other individual vote. Which was a pretty intuitive concept but it was not a reality. There were all sorts of crazy representational systems that were created that would not give one person one vote and would disenfranchise certain minorities…you can guess which one [knowing titter from the studio audience…you are just so clever Chris].

Here’s an example. Let’s say you’ve got a city, it’s 60% black and it’s 40% white, okay. Here’s how you ensure white people stay in charge. Divide the city into four voting districts, right? But you put the entire black population in one district. Sixty percent of the people. And then each district elects one city council member. Voila. And now a city council for a majority black city is run by a majority white government.

Let’s take a look at that statement about the weight of votes. He’s right. And where, right now, do you find Americans being disenfranchised in much the same way that he uses in his city council example? Anywhere there are large numbers of illegals. Because if you live in a district that is 100% citizen your vote is literally worth half as much as a vote of someone living in a district where half the voters are illegals. That is how an illegal-heavy metropolis like Los Angeles or Dallas or Chicago or Miami can dominate state politics because their electoral power is exaggerated by having congressional districts formed based on total people, not total voters.

In other words, by counting bodies and not citizens what happens is that citizens become the black voters in Hayes’s example. They are all packed into one district. Three other districts, composed of mostly non-citizens have representatives elected with only about 13% of the total voting population. To get an idea of what that looks like nationwide, take a look at this map.

Inadvertently, Chris Hayes made the case for why the US government should count citizens and why congressional seats should be apportioned based on them.

It’s no big secret that Democrat Stacey Abrams refuses to concede last year’s Georgia gubernatorial race. She has spent the entirety of her time since telling anyone who will listen that the election was “stolen.”

Along the way, she’s continued to undermine the election process in Georgia by telling voters there that they “don’t have the right to vote.” She also launched an organization she feels will combat alleged “voter suppression” efforts in her home state and elsewhere.

As far as her plans for higher office go, she recently announced she has no plans to run for president and no plans to run for Senate in Georgia. But she did throw her hat in the ring for possible vice presidential consideration after telling reporters several months ago she didn’t want to play second fiddle.

But for Democrats with aspirations for the vice presidency come the questions about the electoral college, which leftists like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY) have come out in favor of abolishing on grounds that it’s “racist.”

Abrams took a similar position on MSNBC’s “All in with Chris Hayes” program Tuesday after being asked about it:

HAYES: Briefly. Final policy question. There have been some calls to abolish the electoral college. There`s been some controversy over this week of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez calling for it. The president emailing his supporters about how terrible an idea that was. Do you favor that?

ABRAMS: Absolutely. The electoral college was not designed to make sure people in small states weren’t subject to the tyranny of people in urban areas, that wasn’t the conversation at the time, it was because those in power did not believe that working people that the intellectual capacity to directly elect the leader of the free world. We have long passed that time and it’s time for direct election and popular vote.

GOP spokeswoman Liz Harrington got wind of Abrams’ argument and dropped a MOAB on it:

Seriously! I mean we all know at this point the only way Stacey Abrams will accept the results of any election in which she’s the Democratic nominee is if she wins it.

Chris Hayes Panics Over the High Summer Temperatures In Paris, the Internet Roasts Him

An irregularity in weather happened somewhere, so naturally, a left-leaning socio-political commentator’s knee jerked and sent out a panic-ridden tweet suggesting climate change is the world ending issue they’ve been saying it is.

This time it was MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, who upon discovering that Paris was suffering from record-breaking heat, began repeating the temperature like a paranoid schizophrenic in a padded cell.

As a Texan, this doesn’t seem that big of a deal to me, but in Paris the average summer temperature is 75 degrees in the summer according to various reports. I can see how this heatwave can be a bit shocking. Still, heatwaves happen. The last time Paris was this hot was in 2008 when it hit 101. In 1947 it reached 104 degrees according to Seattle PI.

So it’s irregular, but not unheard of.

Still, every irregularity is another reason to announce on Twitter that the sky is falling, and Hayes took that opportunity. The problem for Hayes is that this is Twitter, and such sensationalism isn’t going to go without punishment.

    And so on.

It gets tiresome listening to every talking head on the left immediately resort to declaring what’s happening is a result to climate change, especially with most irregular weather events, you can usually find patterns. Weather is chaotic for the most part, and odd things are going to happen. Mother nature is anything but static.

I find it far odder that we’re in the middle of summer and it’s only 84 degrees here in Dallas, Texas, but I’m too grateful to complain.

Regardless of the political nonsense being made out of a heatwave, I hope Parisians stay safe. My advice is to do what we Texans do. Find the nearest body of clean water, grab a few beers, some sunscreen, and a hunk of meat, throw said meat on a grill and make it a party.

Last month, not long after the news broke that failed Republican U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore (AL) said he’d be taking another shot at the seat in 2020, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley weighed in on Twitter with her thoughts on the announcement:

As recent polling in Alabama indicates, Moore is pulling in a mere 13% of Republican voters. So he’s not exactly a top contender:

But inconvenient facts like that don’t matter to MSNBC‘s Chris Hayes, who (belatedly) took a swipe at Haley on Monday on the social media platform, suggesting that Moore was the face of the Republican party:

That didn’t sit well with a number of Twitter users, who pointed out that Hayes needed to work on cleaning his own backyard before he started casting stones over the fence:

Donald Trump, Jr. joined in, too, and hammered the Virginia point home:

It should be noted that Trump, Jr. opposes Moore’s candidacy like most Republicans do:

As of this writing, Hayes has not responded to Trump, Jr.’s tweet.

The hot takes we’ve gotten from Democrats in the aftermath of Joe Biden’s praise of his ability to get along with segregationist Senators in the 1970s have been all over the map.

Former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) said in an interview Thursday that Biden’s comments on Democratic Sens. James Eastland (MS) and Herman Talmadge (GA) were not that big a deal in the scheme of things. Why? Because Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Jeff Sessions (R-AL) were “pretty stinky, creepy people themselves” and Democratic Senators like Biden critic Cory Booker (NJ) had to work with them, too, she stated.

Sen. Kamala Harris (CA) ripped Biden’s remarks, suggesting he was “coddling the reputations of segregationists.” On the other hand, civil rights icons and Congressmen John Lewis (D-GA) and James Clyburn (D-SC) both defended Biden, saying they had to work with some pretty bad people back in those days, too.

MSNBC‘s “All In” host Chris Hayes had his own special take on it all in the midst of the controversy, and took to the Twitter machine to wonder out loud:

He followed up with a little bit of “WhatAboutBothism”, perhaps in an attempt to make his initial tweet sound more… measured:

Twitter being Twitter, there was actually a debate between liberals in the comments:

In the end, there was no clear winner in the debate. But there was one casualty: Common sense.

Here’s How Long CNN and MSNBC Showed Trump’s Campaign Launch Speech

The bias of CNN and MSNBC isn’t really in question, but here’s another example to throw on the heap.

Last night, President Trump announced his re-election bid in front of an overflow crowd in Florida. Whether you support him or not, a sitting President announcing his next campaign is undoubtedly newsworthy, so much so that nearly every news network out there live streamed the entire thing.

    Well, all but a couple.

This is probably what we can expect going forward, especially from CNN. After getting savaged in 2016 for “promoting” Donald Trump, I’d be surprised if they ever shows Trump speaking about anything ever again. They got the message and are bowing to it.

In total, CNN showed six minutes of the speech before cutting away for “analysis.”

The irony of Stelter saying that Trump “reverted to his usual lines” is that CNN’s “analysis” is nothing but the sames lines of criticism over and over with the same people, on the same panels, with the same hosts. If monotony was their concern, they’d have done better showing reruns of Cuomo’s show than putting Jeffrey Toobin on air for the millionth time to rant and rave.

More so, should a network really be basing it’s programing decisions on getting it’s feelings hurt by a crowd saying “CNN sucks?” If you are CNN, the answer is yes.

MSNBC didn’t show the speech at all, but that’s to be expected. They don’t even try to hide who they are and I kind of at least respect that compared to Stelter’s network. It’s hilariously on brand that instead of showing the speech, they decided to have Chris Hayes talk about people flashing the “OK sign” outside the Trump speech to troll them. Like moths to a flame, they can’t resist.

By comparison, both networks gave unfettered airtime to Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, and even fringe Amy Klobuchar when they gave their announcement speeches. While CNN and MSNBC may claim it’s about the “same lines” being said or the crowd getting rowdy, the simple truth is that they don’t trust their viewers enough to not feel like they have to tightly control the narrative.

If you’ve been on political Twitter today, you’ve probably seen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s crazy comments on border detention facilities being “concentration camps.” She’s since doubled and tripled down on them.

This makes no sense for so many reasons that it’s hard to articulate. No one is forcing people to cross our border illegally and they are free to leave at any time. Illegal immigrants in our detention facilities are not being forced to work or being gassed with their families. Everyone being held at the border are being given due process and will have their claims adjudicated. There’s essentially no comparison at all to any historical definition of a concentration camp. If anyone commits a crime in this country, they are typically confined for some period of time while their case is processed. That’s all that’s happening at the border. How any of this is controversial, I don’t know.

No mind though. The white knights in the media rushed to defend AOC anyway because that’s what they do.

Here’s Dave Weigel from The Washington Post.

She was just talking about the Boer War you guys! Yes, I’m sure AOC, who’s knowledge of history ends with the results of last year’s American Idol, was actually giving a call back to a little known war in South Africa. That’s the ticket.

The level of gaslighting being presented by Weigel in that tweet was hard to top, but MSNBC’s resident historian managed it.

    “ACKSHUALLY…”

Telling others to learn “some actual history” while defending a ridiculously a-historical assertion is the most Chris Hayes thing ever.

Even though it’s apparent that AOC meant the Holocaust, we don’t even have to speculate. Why? Because she specifically cited “never again,” which is directly referencing the Holocaust. There is no question she was making a comparison to Nazi concentration camps and it’s ludicrously dishonest to suggest otherwise.

Meanwhile, press outlets like The Washington Post decided the real story here was that Republicans were upset, because that’s always the story right?

    Then something amazing happened.

The actual Auschwitz Museum chimed in and made a polite suggestion to Chris Hayes, CNN’s K-File, and others who rushed to defend AOC’s comments. It’s one of the most incredible “I’m not owned” moments in Twitter history.

I suspect “concentration camp” Twitter won’t end here though. The media are already running to post op-eds by “historians” letting us know that border detention facilities are in fact just like Nazi death camps, just at an earlier stage. I guess the CBP are the Waffen SS in this scenario, underhandedly building infrastructure leading toward the extermination of illegal immigrants? It’s all so crazy that I’m not even sure what else to say about it.

We’ve reached a level of absurdity in our political discourse that’s hard to fathom.
