Here’s Why Banning Vaping Is a Big Mistake and Trump Should Reverse Course

Westlake Legal Group vaping-620x413 Here’s Why Banning Vaping Is a Big Mistake and Trump Should Reverse Course Vaping Ban Tobacco Products THC Politics Melania Trump media bias Lung Disease illness Front Page Stories Front Page Flavored Vape Featured Story donald trump deaths CNN Bad Decision

If you’ve been following the news this week, you probably heard about the Trump administration adopting a ban on flavored vape. This came in response to hundreds of reports (and six deaths) related to vaping. There’s also been a concerted effort to paint vape as uniquely harmful to kids.

The ensuing outcry has mainly been the result of articles and press stories like this.

The problem is that almost none of what we are hearing is actually true. Remember, vaping is not new. Yet, out of nowhere, we all the sudden saw several people die from illness caused by vaping. What could actually be causing this? CNN tells us in the article while running with such a misleading headline.

Eventually, Adam said that he went from vaping over-the-counter e-liquids to vaping THC or tetrahydrocannabinol, which is the main psychoactive component of marijuana. Adam would get the THC from “a friend” or dealer.

Over time, Adam said that he developed shivers and couldn’t control them. Then, the vomiting began.

“I was just nonstop throwing up every day for three days,” he said. “Finally I went to the pediatrician.”

At first, doctors did not connect Adam’s symptoms to his vaping. He was given anti-nausea medication, but he said that his vomiting did not stop. After visiting various physicians, he finally saw someone who asked if he was “Juul-ing” and using THC.

Nearly every current case that’s being looked in this rash of new vaping illnesses involves the use of THC. This actually has nothing to do with vaping itself. There is no actual link between lung disease and inhaling water vapor mixed with nicotine.

There’s also not even much evidence that kids vaping is somehow more prevalent than tobacco use was before vaping was an option. Yes, we’ve seen a drop in smoking among teenagers. It’s not a coincidence though that it has tracked with a rise in vaping. In other words, kids are trading a deadly habit for one that’s largely harmless unless you mix it with illicit substances.

Sure, we’d all love them to not use nicotine products at all, but isn’t it preferable they vape and not die of lung disease?

Given the actual facts of these cases, why is Trump acting rashly on this? It could have something to do with Melania Trump’s opinion on the matter, as she’s been waging this fight for a while.

This is why many of us opposed Hillary Clinton and Michele Obama’s interjections into public policy. First Ladies are not elected. They shouldn’t be shaping government decisions. Melania Trump seems like a perfectly lovely woman. She’s not the President though.

The biggest issue here is what the alternatives are. Banning flavored vaping (leaving only tobacco flavored) means a lot of people are going to end up back on cigarettes. 480,000 people die every year from illnesses related to smoking. That’s not even counting chewing tobacco. Banning the majority of vaping products because six people died doing it wrong will ultimately end up in hundreds of thousands of more deaths over the next decade.

How does that make any sense at all? It simply doesn’t.

This was pointed out in an exchange on MSNBC earlier this week.

You can’t run a country based on emotion and even the best intentions often have far worse unintended consequences. I don’t vape or smoke. This doesn’t affect me at all. But everyone should be able to recognize the stupidity of these latest policy change.

There’s also the aspect of freedom of choice here as well. We are supposed to be conservatives. Banning things over illogical moral panic is not conservative. Trump needs to reverse course on this. It’s a mistake and will only make things far worse.

I’ll end with this video from Steven Crowder, where he takes down the ban in typical comedic fashion.

Report: John Roberts initially sided with Trump in the census citizenship question case — then changed his vote

Westlake Legal Group jr Report: John Roberts initially sided with Trump in the census citizenship question case — then changed his vote wilbur ross Trump The Blog roberts question liberal gerrymandering conservative CNN Citizenship census

It wouldn’t be the first time he’d — allegedly — joined with the conservatives in a case boiling with political repercussions only to think better of it and swing around to the liberal position. Everyone’s heard the stories by now about Roberts supposedly wimping out in the ObamaCare ruling seven years ago, initially agreeing with Scalia, Kennedy, Thomas, and Alito that the individual mandate was unconstitutional and then getting cold feet. Result: A tortured and dubious majority opinion upholding the constitutionality of the mandate as a tax. Rumors swirled within days of the decision that Roberts had switched his vote because he feared the Court would be attacked as a partisan institution if the five Republican appointees joined to kill Obama’s signature legislative achievement.

But Roberts pays attention to media coverage. As chief justice, he is keenly aware of his leadership role on the court, and he also is sensitive to how the court is perceived by the public.

There were countless news articles in May warning of damage to the court – and to Roberts’ reputation – if the court were to strike down the mandate. Leading politicians, including the president himself, had expressed confidence the mandate would be upheld.

Some even suggested that if Roberts struck down the mandate, it would prove he had been deceitful during his confirmation hearings, when he explained a philosophy of judicial restraint.

It was around this time that it also became clear to the conservative justices that Roberts was, as one put it, “wobbly,” the sources said.

No one outside the Court knows why or even whether Roberts switched his vote. But the perception of him ever since among righties is that, ironically, for all his concern about the Court being perceived as “politicized,” his alleged switcheroo is one of the most glaring examples of judicial politicization in American history. If Roberts is casting his votes based not on the merits of the parties’ arguments but on how he thinks partisan critics are likely to react then politics is guiding his deliberation. Not in a straight-line “Republican appointee must vote Republican” way but in a circuitous “Republican appointee occasionally must vote Democratic to preserve perceptions of institutional integrity” one.

Did it happen again in the controversial ruling earlier this summer about Trump’s power to include a citizenship question on the forthcoming census? That decision resembled the ObamaCare ruling in that both were written by Roberts and both began with arguments for the conservative position. The individual mandate is unconstitutional as a function of Congress’s Commerce Clause power, Roberts agreed in 2012; the president does have the power to add citizenship questions to the census, he conceded this past June. But, he went on to say in the ObamaCare decision, the mandate is valid as a tax. But, he went on to say in the census decision, the Commerce Department appears to have been deceptive in its reasons for wanting to add a citizenship question to the census. In both cases, it seemed as if Roberts was persuaded by the logic of the conservative view before conveniently finding an argument that allowed him to avoid joining in what would have seemed like a highly partisan decision.

And now here comes CNN citing sources familiar with the Court’s deliberations for the claim that Roberts switched his vote in that case too:

Chief Justice John Roberts cast the deciding vote against President Donald Trump’s attempt to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census, but only after changing his position behind the scenes, sources familiar with the private Supreme Court deliberations tell CNN.

The case was fraught with political consequences. Democrats and civil rights advocates claimed the query would discourage responses to the decennial questionnaire from new immigrants and minorities and affect the balance of power nationwide…

After the justices heard arguments in late April, Roberts was ready to rule for Ross and the administration. But sometime in the weeks that followed, sources said, Roberts began to waver. He began to believe that Ross’ rationale for the citizenship question had been invented, and that, despite the deference he would normally give an executive branch official, Ross’ claim had to matter in the court’s final judgment, which Roberts announced on June 27.

“John Roberts is the Supreme Court’s James Comey,” said a Twitter pal. Is he? In extraordinary circumstances, both men seem to be willing to dispense with institutional protocol and pull a Leeroy Jenkins in the name of some perceived greater moral/ethical/institutional good.

Right, right, we need to be fair. Caveat one: God only knows if the CNN report is true. No hard evidence exists of Roberts’s vote switch. It’s all coming from “sources” who might have axes to grind. Caveat two: A judge is entitled to change his mind. Just because Roberts switched his vote doesn’t mean he did it for political reasons, to dodge some political heat from liberals. Maybe the liberal wing of the Court lobbied him on their view and persuaded him. Caveat three: It’s not like Roberts has been a reliably anti-Trump vote on the Court. The Supremes have mostly tilted Trump’s way during his presidency. Literally yesterday Roberts sided with Trump on another hot-button political issue, whether the president has the power to summarily deny asylum claims filed by migrants who declined to seek asylum in Mexico while litigation is pending. He’s not David Souter.

But if you’re suspicious that Roberts’s supposed vote-switch in the census case had a political motive, there is a bit of extra evidence to consider. That decision was delivered on the same morning, the very last day of the term, as another closely watched political case, the one having to do with whether partisan gerrymanders can be challenged in court. Roberts wrote that one too and joined the conservatives for a 5-4 majority in ruling that gerrymanders can’t be litigated. The partisan implications weren’t perfectly clear in that one since Democrats have also engaged in partisan gerrymandering, but broadly speaking the left supported court challenges to gerrymanders and the right was more suspicious. Roberts knew the Court would take partisan flak for its decision; for him to join with conservatives again for another 5-4 majority in the census case posted on the same day would have made the partisan criticism many times louder. “The GOP appointees are in the tank!” liberals would have cried.

And so, insofar as Roberts may have felt pressure not to hand two major wins to righties in the same morning, the vote-switch in the census case seems that much more dubious. Did he decide to “split the baby,” handing the right a win on gerrymandering and the left a win on the census? Or did he really change his mind in the census ruling on the merits? Who would trust him after the reporting on his ObamaCare switcheroo?

Westlake Legal Group polar-bear-4443364_1280-620x413 ‘Cause it’s the Best Way to Convince People: Ahead of the Dem Debate, Climate Change Radicals Suspend Themselves from a Bridge Uncategorized town hall Texas radicalism protest Houston Greenpeace green Global Warming Front Page Stories Featured Story environment elections democrats CNN Climate Change Climate Allow Media Exception 2020

I have an crazy concept for activists: When you do something really bizarre to get attention, it doesn’t help your cause.

It spreads a message alright, just not the one you intended.

Your new message is:

“We are all suffering from mental illness. Please, dear Lord, somebody — anybody — help us.”

Examples:

How To Save The Planet: During Brexit Debate, Climate Activists Glue Themselves To Parliament. Naked.

NUT: Left-Winger Fights Brexit By Stripping Naked On Live TV & Challenging Politician To Nude Debate

In An Effort To Force Congress To Save The Earth, Radicals Superglue Themselves To Walls In Washington. Yeah — That’ll Do It

See a pattern?

Pro tip: Any activism that involves glue or orifices to the south of the mouth is a FAIL (but congrats to Parliament’s anti-Brexiters for managing to combine the two — touché).

In Houston, this week’s radicals did manage to avoid adhesive and genitals, but there was still something dangling: Their whole bodies.

Those convinced the best way to sell the world on saving itself was to hang themselves from a bridge — because that’s the oldest trick in the book when it comes to winning an argument — got busy changing everyone’s minds Thursday.

Ahead of the city’s impending Democratic presidential primary, about a dozen activists suspended themselves from the Fred Hartman Bridge in order to fight the use of fossil fuels.

In order to make their point, they held yellow and red flags.

They should’ve gone with yellow and blue — those two colors make green.

Or…what’s the official flag for insanity?

Interesting choice to hang from a bridge: If the most extreme among us were to get their way, it wouldn’t be needed. People would cross the waters in row boats.

That’s not likely to happen, though — as noted by RedState’s Bonchie, CNN’s recent climate change town hall tanked:

CNN subjected television viewers to the torturous exercise of listening to 2020 Democrat candidates riff on climate change for seven straight hours. We got all kinds of craziness, from Bernie promoting taxpayer funded abortions to cull the population and reduce emissions to Buttigieg lecturing on the morality of eating hamburgers. If you want the government to control every aspect of your life, these people are your ticket.

The question is, how many people were actually watching? If you guessed that Fox News, with just their regular lineup, would nearly triple CNN’s viewership, congrats.

But maybe the Bridge Brigade will start the revolution.

Check it out in the video above. And though they aren’t nude, enjoy the drooping nuts.

News Breaks that Andrew McCabe Will Be Charged By the DOJ and the Flop Sweat Builds

Westlake Legal Group mccabe-crawling News Breaks that Andrew McCabe Will Be Charged By the DOJ and the Flop Sweat Builds prosecution Politics lying leaking Lacked Candor Justice james comey Hillary Clinton Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story FBI donald trump doj democrats CNN charged bill barr Andrew McCabe

Color me surprised. It looks like the DOJ has finally decided to hold someone accountable for what went on during the Hillary-Trump investigative fiasco.

Former FBI Assistant Director and current CNN talking head, Andrew McCabe, failed to convince the DOJ not to move forward with prosecution against him after a last ditch effort to change their minds. This report is coming via Fox News. The Daily Caller’s Chuck Ross, who’s been killer on this beat, also confirms this story is accurate.

U.S. Attorney Jessie Liu has recommended moving forward with charges against Andrew McCabe, Fox News has learned, as the Justice Department rejects a last-ditch appeal from the former top FBI official.

McCabe — the former deputy and acting director of the FBI — appealed the decision of the U.S. attorney for Washington all the way up to Jeffrey Rosen, the deputy attorney general, but he rejected that request, according to a person familiar with the situation.

The potential charges relate to DOJ inspector general findings against him regarding misleading statements concerning a Hillary Clinton-related investigation.

A source close to McCabe’s legal team said they received an email from the Department of Justice which said, “The Department rejected your appeal of the United States Attorney’s Office’s decision in this matter. Any further inquiries should be directed to the United States Attorney’s Office.”

This comes in response to the Inspector General finding that McCabe had lacked candor (i.e. lied) to the FBI multiple times involving leaks to the press.

There’s also the factor of McCabe suing the FBI last month that plays into this. Perhaps McCabe’s arrogance wrote a check his butt can’t cash? Trying to sue when he was clearly fired for just cause likely only emboldened the U.S. Attorney to press forward with prosecution.

We can’t mention McCabe without talking about CNN either. Despite the IG report and all the facts known about McCabe, CNN hired him on as an “analyst” last month in a widely mocked move. Is there any wonder that network is cratering in the ratings and has lost all credibly?

Drink the schadenfreude in.

This is the beginnings of what justice looks like. After every single Trump lackey who looked at an FBI agent the wrong way was charged during the Mueller saga, it would have been untenable for the DOJ to then look the other way at their own committing the same crime.

While this certainly won’t gain back the trust these institutions have lost, it’s a start in the process. Bill Barr is doing things the right way and if the indicators we are seeing tell the story, he’s not done yet. More prosecutions are coming.

There’s going to be a lot of new flop sweat building among people who thought they were in the clear.

DOJ rejects Andrew McCabe’s appeal to avoid facing charges (CNN hardest hit)

Westlake Legal Group Andrew-McCabe DOJ rejects Andrew McCabe’s appeal to avoid facing charges (CNN hardest hit) The Blog CNN Andrew McCabe

It sounds as if Andrew McCabe is going to be facing indictment after all. Here it is from an ABC News reporter:

NY Times is hearing the same thing:

Now Fox News is reporting that a US attorney had recommended McCabe be prosecuted for the “lack of candor” described in the Inspector General’s report:

U.S. Attorney Jessie Liu has recommended moving forward with charges against Andrew McCabe, Fox News has learned, as the Justice Department rejects a last-ditch appeal from the former top FBI official.

McCabe — the former deputy and acting director of the FBI — appealed the decision of the U.S. attorney for Washington all the way up to Jeffrey Rosen, the deputy attorney general, but the department rejected that request, according to a person familiar with the situation…

A source close to McCabe’s legal team said they received an email from the Department of Justice which said, “The Department rejected your appeal of the United States Attorney’s Office’s decision in this matter. Any further inquiries should be directed to the United States Attorney’s Office.”

Two weeks ago, Fox News reported the DOJ was close to a decision on charging McCabe. At the time I wondered aloud whether charges could possibly happen given that McCabe had just been hired as a contributor by CNN. Well, it looks like I really overestimated CNN. So the question now is what happens next.

Is CNN really going to have this guy on the air opining about President Trump’s dishonesty while he’s facing charges for lying to the FBI under oath? The sensible thing to do at this point would be to announce his dismissal quietly Friday afternoon. But assuming they’ll do the smart thing might be overestimating CNN again. After all, if they were smart they’d never have hired someone who was a) suing the FBI, b) fired for lying to the FBI, and c) facing indictment. Whoever greenlit this hire probably also ought to be dismissed.

As to the charges themselves, the IG report makes a pretty convincing case that McCabe lied under oath to FBI agents who questioned him about a leak to the Wall Street Journal and then lied about having lied when questioned by the IG. As Andrew McCarthy argued last month, if General Michael Flynn didn’t get a pass despite his years of service, it’s pretty hard to argue McCabe should get one.

CNN Does Something Absolutely Disgusting On the Anniversary of 9/11

Westlake Legal Group fake-news-1024x578-620x350 CNN Does Something Absolutely Disgusting On the Anniversary of 9/11 white supremacy Unbelievable The New York Times Right Wingers Politics leftists Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story fake news Disgusting democrats CNN Amnesia 9/11

These people have no shame at all.

CNN continues its march past the brink of insanity by using the anniversary of 9/11 to push their favorite narrative. Namely, that Republicans are racist and that the real shame of today is that we have “amnesia” by not treating white supremacy seriously. Yes, on the anniversary of the worst attack on America in history, instead of reflecting on Islamic terrorism or simply focusing on the victims, CNN decided to run interference for terrorists and lecture Americans on the violence of “right-wingers.”

Because of course they did. They couldn’t give it a rest for even one day.

Here’s a screenshot of one of the graphics they put up.

Yes, this was a real segment. It was so absurd that some people actually thought the captures of it going around were photoshopped.

CNN calls it a “reality check” and instead of focusing on what happened on 9/11, including who perpetrated it, they deflect to blaming  “Right-wingers” for being the “deadliest terrorists.” I’m a right-winger. Am I a terrorist now? CNN apparently thinks so based on their vague use of language, which is obviously purposeful.

Wait, you mean if you wipe away 3,000 victims of Islamic terrorism from the record, suddenly Islamists don’t lead in the body count? Shocking if true.

I can’t begin to explain how ridiculous and disgusting this is. Today is about remembering the victims of 9/11. CNN ignores the dead and wants to rant about right wingers being terrorists. How do they think that makes the families of the victims feel? That they are so unimportant, so subservient to the leftist narrative, that they aren’t even counted in order for CNN to force a point.

Meanwhile, The New York Times decided to only push out a single editorial today discussing 9/11. What was it about? America’s Islamophobia of course.

The press at large are just trash. They couldn’t give it a rest for one day. Not one stinking day.

In Completely Unexpected Turn, That Story About Trump Using the Military to Prop Up His Resort Was Fake News

This just keeps happening. It’s almost as if the news media are purposely slanting stories to fit their narrative, unconcerned with seeking facts that don’t confirm their biases?

Nah, couldn’t be.

Over the past week, a “bombshell” story broke involving Trump’s Scottish Turnberry resort, which is currently in financial trouble, and the supposed idea that the US Air Force was having their planes land at an airport close by to help keep it above water. The idea was that without airport access close by, the golf club would further fail and fold up. This was exacerbated by the revelation that a C-17 crew stayed the night at the resort using earlier in the year.

Byron York tackles the details over at the Washington Examiner.

The news was immediately picked up by other media outlets. MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow opened her program Friday with a monologue on the story, followed by an interview with Bertrand. “Now miraculously, now that Donald Trump is president, American military cargo planes have started refueling at that airport,” Maddow said, noting the military “spent $17 million on fuel [there] since October 2017,” even though “it would be cheaper to the military if that fuel had been purchased at a U.S. military base.”

“They’re stopping at the airport that Trump needs to prop up to keep his Scottish golf resort going,” Maddow declared.

As per usual, this all turned out to be mostly fake news, lacking critical context and any semblance of fairness in the reporting.

The only problem with the Politico story was that it was not the whole story. In fact, it omitted so much important information that it hardly qualified as a story at all.

The piece focused on a single Air Force mission, a C-17 military transport flight this year from the United States to Kuwait and back. Bertrand and Bender reported that the plane stopped at Prestwick to refuel, and also that the crew spent the night at Turnberry. According to the article, crew members said they had never stopped at Prestwick before in dozens of trips back and forth between the U.S. and Middle East.

The article made several references to a June 21 document request sent by House Oversight Committee Democrats to the secretary of defense. The Pentagon has not yet responded to the House, Politico said.

But committee Democrats left a number of things out of their letter. Some are available in public documents on the internet, while some came from the Air Force in response to the story.

The first thing to note is that a public database shows the Air Force signed a contract for refuelings at Prestwick in 2016, before the Trump administration entered office. In addition, Air Force planes made many stops at Prestwick before President Trump. According to information provided by Air Force officials, planes stopped at Prestwick 95 times in 2015, 145 times in 2016, 180 times in 2017, 257 times in 2018, and 259 times through August 2019.

Wait, you mean Democrats Representatives and media members bandying this story about were doing so without telling us all the facts? Shocking if true.

The stopover for the true at Prestwick not only wasn’t unusual or “odd,” it was part of a contract that predated Trump and had begun escalating operations before he was even elected. This was done to secure lower fuel prices.

As to the hotel stay, the crew used their own per diem money and went through the proper USAF travel offices to secure the lowest cost room for the night. That just happened to be Turnberry. On the way back, another hotel was cheaper, so they stayed there, showing there was no intention to specifically stay at Trump’s property.

Because the USAF is always worried about appearances these days though, they have opened an investigation into this. It will go nowhere and lead to nothing, but it’s a talking point for the media I supposed.

In the meantime, the Democrat’s “investigation” in the House over this can be added to the long list of pointless investigations they’ve been conducting, desperately searching for any impeachable offense. They’ll come up short again.

Don’t Be Gaslit, Last Night’s North Carolina Results Were Not Good News for Democrats

Ever notice that the moment a “bellwether” race breaks in favor of the GOP, it ceases to be a bellwether in the media?

That’s what we saw last night and this morning, as most major media put out quick tweets and the dropped talking about the much ballyhooed special elections in North Carolina altogether. Some outlets though, like CNN, are doubling down, presenting this as some kind of moral victory for Democrats.

Can someone remind me what campaign Ana Navarro has strategized for in the last decade? Just thought I’d ask that. Regardless, pretending this is the same outcome as 2018 is incredibly dishonest.

Here’s what the spin is: This was a district won by Trump in 2016 by 12 points. Therefore, a 2 point win last night is bad news for Republicans.

This ignores not only the context of the race, but also the shifts we saw at the county level.

First, Democrats far outspent the Republican in this race. Over $8M was shoveled into the coffers of McCready by liberals from across the country. He was able to dominate earned and unearned media. He was also touted on countless plugs in the national media. Meanwhile, Bishop was not only fighting a battle against massive outside money, he had to fight the perception of GOP corruption after the vote harvesting scandal that took place in 2018. Despite that, he not only won, he won by a margin no one thought he’d get. In the end, this won’t even trigger a recount.

Secondly, when you get into the internals of how this race went, you see positive movement for Republicans in an environment we are constantly told shouldn’t produce such.

Why is that important? Because this is exactly the kind of county that narrowly went for Trump in 2016 but went heavy Democrat in 2018. Last night, it nearly flipped back and that’s without a presidential race going on. Was it turnout? Changed minds? We can’t know that at such a micro level, but what it shows is that Trump has room to take back some of these counties his party lost in 2018. If he’s to win in 2020, he has to hold the blue collar, Democrat counties he flipped in 2016 and this shows it’s not a given, but possible for him to do.

Here’s another data point involving Robeson Co. This was another area that swung to Trump from Obama in 2016 but Democrats dominated in 2018. Last night, the Republican took it back with a huge shift in voting.

Cumberland Co. also went from Democrat in 2018 to Republican in 2016. Meanwhile, in the other race of the night (North Carolina District 3) the Republican actually beat Trump’s 2016 margin.

No one reading this should spin what I’m saying. I’m not saying this race is dispositive of what will happen in 2020. I’m not even saying it’s great news for Republicans. It’s the minimum they needed to do. But, what it shows is that Trump has room to regain ground the party lost in 2018 and that he’s already begun the process of doing so. It also shows that Trump has a unique gift at driving Republican turnout in the areas that can change the race (blue collar, purple state districts that normally vote Democrat).

Let’s be clear. McCready was favored to win this race over Bishop. The district itself was laiden with pitfalls for the Republican because of what happened in 2018. Despite that, the Republican won by a bigger margin than thought probable and Trump himself showed he still has the power to get Republican voters to the polls.

What this means for 2020, again, can’t be known fully yet, but in noway can this be spun as good news for Democrats. If anything, it shows that both sides have a path forward. Trump can drive base turnout in key districts while Democrats could compete in those same districts if they run moderate candidates. McCready was a blue dog, not a progressive.

BUT, here’s the million dollar question: What happens in this district in 2020 when it’s Elizabeth Warren on the ballot?

Anyone think Trump only wins NC9 by 2 points if it’s a liberal, NE socialist he’s running against? That’s what I think a lot of people are missing in all this. The candidate Trump draws in 2020 is going to matter greatly and the signs we saw last night show he’s got a lot of room to grow his support in these moderate districts IF he successfully brands his opponent as a radical. Unless it’s Joe Biden, he’s going to have a great probability of doing just that.

Democrats trying to use a blue dog Democrat losing in a special election as a moral victory are kidding themselves. If we are talking retaining the House, sure, assuming the Democrats run a bunch of moderates. If we are talking the 2020 election, last night was in noway good news for Democrats. Don’t be gaslit otherwise.

Here’s the Most Probable Reason Why CNN Ran That Garbage Story on Trump and the Intel Agent Extraction

Westlake Legal Group snopes-fake-news-sites-620x344 Here’s the Most Probable Reason Why CNN Ran That Garbage Story on Trump and the Intel Agent Extraction The New York Times spy Russia Politics nbc media bias ken dilanian jim sciutto investigation Intel Agent Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story FBI fake news donald trump democrats CNN cia Bunk

In the past 24 hours, we’ve witnessed CNN push out a story involving President Trump and the facts surrounding why CIA extracted a supposedly high level intelligence asset from Russia. As their story went, they were deeply concerned about Trump exposing classified information, therefore they decided at that moment that they had to get the agent out.

As so often turns out, this was complete, partisan spun nonsense. My colleague streiff reported on the new revelations this morning.

But the government had indicated that the source existed long before Mr. Trump took office, first in formally accusing Russia of interference in October 2016 and then when intelligence officials declassified parts of their assessment about the interference campaign for public release in January 2017. News agencies, including NBC, began reporting around that time about Mr. Putin’s involvement in the election sabotage and on the C.I.A.’s possible sources for the assessment.

The following month, The Washington Post reported that the C.I.A.’s conclusions relied on “sourcing deep inside the Russian government.” And The New York Times later published articles disclosing details about the source.

The news reporting in the spring and summer of 2017 convinced United States government officials that they had to update and revive their extraction plan, according to people familiar the matter.

The extraction had nothing to do with Trump. It was not only planned months before, in a hilarious turn, it was actually the media’s reckless and political behavior that caused the CIA to have to pull the plug. Will they take responsibility for it?

Of course not.

That’s Jim Sciutto (who first pushed out this likely Fusion GPS laced garbage) claiming that reports that debunked his original assertions “confirmed” his story. These people live on another planet and CNN has reached levels of delusion that MSNBC would be envious of.

The real question is, just who was this intel agent and what exactly was he sharing with the U.S. government in 2016.

Before we answer that, we first have ask ourselves why this story is coming out now. None of these anonymous leaks happen by coincidence. There’s always a reason for them and history says it’s typically to get out ahead of stories that may damage these bureaucracies. For example, when it became clear that the FBI could no longer lie about the Trump campaign being spied on, unnamed officials ran to The New York Times to spin the ordeal and paint the FBI’s intentions as pure.

We’ve seen this play out time and time again and there’s plenty of reason to think it’s happening again. The chief suspicion here is that this intel agent was actually feeding disinformation back to the FBI (intentionally or unintentionally), which helped feed the Russia collusion hysteria that’s now blown up in orbit.

Sean Davis over at The Federalist lays this out.

Notice the reporters who’ve pushed this story. Jim Sciutto at CNN, a former Obama operative. Ken Dilinian over at NBC, who actually outed the agent’s location last night, has been a mouth piece for Fusion GPS since the beginning of this saga. The fact that these same people are the ones behind this latest botched hit piece tell us a lot.

Something is coming and there’s a need for certain officials to get ahead of the story and plant their own narrative. By blaming Donald Trump, they were hoping to pin all of this on the undisciplined nature of the President instead of what really caused it — their own leaks to the press.

Bill Barr is quietly working behind the scenes on this. As Sean says, it’s likely he knows who the players were at this point and they have every reason to start putting their finger on the scale to cover their tails. The pillars that once formed the basis for the Trump-Russia investigation continue to crumble and a lot of people are going to be caught in the rubble. The go to play for them in the past has been to run to sympathetic, anti-Trump media sources and paint their actions as being duty bound instead of corrupt. That’s exactly what this latest story was. They want to paint this intel agent as more than he was, heroically saving the nation from Russian interference. Was he providing verifiable intelligence or disinformation being fed to him by the Russians he thought he was spying on?

Right now, most signs point to the latter. Especially given the latest reporting that he’s now living in public, under his real name, in the Washington D.C. area with no apparent fear for his life. Does that sound like a super important intelligence asset to you or the FBI/CIA trying to cover up their flub? I’ll let you decide.
