This Week’s Dem Polling in Arrested Development Gifs

Another week, another poll- this one by CBS News/YouGov. We’ve turned to Taylor Swift and Archer for help remembering which candidate is which in the past and, this week, we’re looking to Arrested Development for help.

How’s the field looking in general? Most voters seem downright delighted with the options they have going into 2020.

In first place, as always, is Joe Biden (at 25%). He’s got a couple of pretty big problems, though.

First of all, he’s white and male.

These are supposed to be the things they hate about Donald Trump, so it’s going to be hard to run a candidate with the same attributes.

Maybe they’ll find better luck in their second place candidate (who is 5 points behind)- Elizabeth Warren. She is, umm, also white. And doing surprisingly well considering the whole thing where she lied about that.

That’s some hard core appropriation, Liz.

Kamala Harris brings in 16% of the vote in this poll and, with it, takes third place. With her record on criminal justice, it’s truly incredible she’s in the double digits.

Bernie Sanders is just one point behind Ms. Harris with 15%. Here he is explaining his economic theories to anyone who understands math.

The gap between 4th and 5th place is huge. Pete Buttigieg has less than half the votes of Bernie in this poll with only 6%. Maybe don’t brand yourself as “Mayor Pete” when you were mayor of a failing crime-ridden city. Doesn’t send a great message to viewers.

President Donald Trump is greeted by Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, as he arrives for a campaign rally at Houston Toyota Center, Monday, Oct. 22, 2018, in Houston. (AP Photo/Evan Vucci)

Sen. Ted Cruz said during an interview with PBS’s “Firing Line with Margaret Hoover” that aired Friday that he believes the presidential election will be a “coin flip” and placed Trump’s reelection chances at “50-50.”

Asked if Trump could be defeated, Cruz responded:

Absolutely. I personally handicap the 2020 election as a coin flip. I think it’s about 50-50.

I want to see the president reelected, I’m working hard to help the president get reelected and think he certainly can get reelected. But I think we are gonna see staggering Democratic turnout in 2020

Cruz attributed this possibly immense turnout to “anger” on the left:

Anger is a powerful motivator. The far left is pissed. They are enraged by Donald Trump, and it means they’re going to show up, and the big open question is, does everybody else show up?

Cruz cited his 2018 midterm reelection race against 2020 presidential wannabe and former congressman Beto O’Rourke in his analysis. O’Rourke was able to mobilize voters to turn out in droves in reliably red Texas. Cruz won by a 3-point margin. The Democrats in Texas more than doubled their turnout,” Cruz said.

When asked if Trump’s racially-charged rhetoric may hurt his chances in 2020, Sen. Cruz pivoted:

The president regularly says and tweets things I wish he wouldn’t say.

I wish he would say things differently. I don’t have the power to change that.

Hoover asked Cruz four times whether Trump’s rhetoric harms his reelection bid, and he refused to directly answer the question each time.

Hoover also asked Cruz to predict which Democrat would eventually become the party’s 2020 nominee. Cruz responded  said he did not believe it would be former Vice President Joe Biden, would emerge from the crowd, but that it would likely be a more extreme leftist candidate:

I think they are just galloping to the left, and I think that will continue throughout this primary, I think the nominee is going to come from the far left. The three who I would say are most likely are Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders.

Elizabeth Warren is in full campaign mode and when you are a Senator, that means ridiculous grand-standing in public hearings that accomplish absolutely nothing. The point isn’t to make sense though, it’s just to get on TV yelling at someone so people can say “see how tough she is?!”

Yesterday, Mark Espers was being questioned as the nominee for Secretary of Defense and Warren thought it’d be a good idea to tacitly attack his loyalty to his country. This was part of her demanding a silly commitment that he wouldn’t do contract work for at least four years after leaving government, as if that’d suddenly garner her vote to confirm. We all know she’s not voting for him.

Keep in mind, Espers is a graduate of West Point and a combat veteran. So yeah, that went about as well as you’d expect.

Espers just lays into her and it’s pretty great. If you watch until the end, Warren has a meltdown at the fact that Espers refused to be boxed in by her. She even complains that he used up her time even though she’s the one who spent most of the video railing at him in nonsensical fashion instead of just asking him a question like she’s supposed to.

On substance, it is idiotic to demand a government official not work outside of government in their field for four years after leaving a government post. People have a right to make a living in whatever way they choose. Elizabeth Warren is not the arbiter of what’s right and just in that respect.

But this is a campaign issue for her, as if being a permanent government hanger-on is somehow morally superior to someone who serves their country and then goes into the private sector. It’s a garbage contention and unfairly maligns a man like Espers, who’s done nothing but serve his country with honor most of his adult life. Meanwhile, Warren’s service to the nation boils down to getting elected in a deeply blue state and having an annoying voice.

And no, that’s not Jim or I being sexist. Kamala Harris doesn’t have this problem. Neither does Tulsi Gabbard. Warren just so happens to be Hillary Clinton but more shrill and tortured as a public speaker.

But I do have to give her credit. She’s managed to climb into 2nd place and may overtake Biden eventually. If she does, more power to her. We’ll see how all this stuff works out in a general election.

Ben Roback: The racism row. Trump has set a trap for the Democrats – but risks also falling into it himself.

Ben Roback is Head of Trade and International Policy at Cicero Group.

In contemporary politics, it is difficult to identify ‘moments’. The speed at which politics and the news move tends to blur one ‘crisis’ into the next. As proof of that, until yesterday the agreed topic for this column was Kim Darroch’s resignation, but that has already been blown out of the water by allegations of racism following Donald Trump’s singling out of four Democratic congresswomen. It is a rare occasion when two genuine ‘moments’ take place simultaneously, and both have the potential to have a real and lasting impact.

On the former, there is a very real danger that the leaked cables in the Ambassador’s name push the UK to the fringes of the White House at a time when increased tension around Iran and the desire for US-UK trade talks to progress means a close relationship is vital.

On the latter, we have had an early insight into what the first stage of the 2020 presidential election will look like. It was best exemplified not by the President himself, but latter by Kellyanne Conway when the White House advisor responded to a question by a member of the press by herself asking: “what’s your ethnicity?”

The exchange has to be seen to be believed, and it perhaps explained why she felt the need to subsequently clarify her remarks. In that one question, Conway accidentally unveiled the hardest element of the 2020 Trump playbook: questioning loyalty and demanding proof of how American you are.

First it was Hillary, now it’s “the squad”

In 2016, Trump made Hillary Clinton the focus of his campaign strategy. “Lock her up!” became the chant synonymous with Trump campaign rallies. In playing the woman and not the ball, the terms of the election became about personality perception. Now that the 2020 cycle is underway, the Trump team has a new focus – “the squad”. For successive days now, the President has gone on the attack with freshman Democratic Congresswomen in his sights.

Four women from minority communities: it is not hard to consider why they have become a target for this administration. Presidential outriders have worked their very hardest so spin the President’s attacks as a criticism of their left-wing views, but it would take a Herculean mountain of salt to look beyond the need for Mr Trump to pick his latest political enemies ahead of a major re-election campaign.

In 2016, Trump won the white vote by over 20 points and, second only to the economy, immigration is his strongest talking point going into the election proper. By the time it takes place, he will have a nominated Democratic to focus his ire on. According to a CNN poll conducted last month, 74 per cent of Americans agree that there is a crisis at the southern border.

So, what’s the political calculation? In stage one of the campaign, call into question the patriotic loyalty of four minority women who don’t look like or stand for the Trump agenda. In stage two, turn the attacks on the nominated Democratic candidate, while pivoting more towards the strength of the US economy.

“The squad” – under attack for their political views and victimised for not passing the “Trump test”

  • Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (29) who is closely linked to Bernie Sanders’ and Elizabeth Warren’s brand of left-wing Democratic politics. “AOC” flipped the political script when she defeated Democratic incumbent Joe Crowley in the New York primary and since then has charted her own course in advocating “democratic socialism”. Of Puerto Rican descent, Ocasio-Cortez was born and raised in the United States.
  • Rep. Ilhan Omar (37) has been far from shy of controversy since her election to Minnesota’s fifth district. Born in Somalia, Omar moved to the United States as a child. In her short time in Congress so far, her views on foreign policy and the US-Israel relationship has prompted rebukes from Republicans and Democrats alike.
  • Rep. Rashida Tlaib (42) was born in Detroit to Palestinian immigrant parents. Alongside Ilhan Omar, she was the first of two Muslim women elected to Congress.
  • Rep. Ayanna Pressley (45) was born in Cincinnati and raised in Ohio. She became the first African American woman to be elected to the US Congress from Massachusetts.

A high-risk Republican strategy that will energise their base – but also the Democrats’

Building the wall and making America great again were two of the pillars on which Donald Trump built his 2016 campaign. A similar formula will be deployed in 2020, but with the benefit of an economy that is firing on all cylinders – and that could prove to be an ultimately winning combination.

The President will continue to stoke fears about immigration by doubling down on issues at the US-Mexico border. At the same time, he will continue to deploy his own brand of visual patriotism whilst seeking to question the loyalty of his opponents by suggesting their criticism of the US government is in fact a hidden hatred for America.

Candidates seeking the Democratic nomination in 2020 have coalesced around fierce criticism of the President and the intention behind his tweets (as did Downing Street, Boris Johnson and Jeremy Hunt). After the president’s latest outburst, consider the Democratic base officially riled up. On that basis, the White House playbook risks turning out Democratic voters as a natural by-product of seeking to turn out Republicans. The events of this week are a clear hint that the 2020 election will be even uglier than 2016. On that basis, “the squad” will be the first of many targets for a brutal campaign ahead.

Morning Consult: Biden keeps on keepin’ on

Westlake Legal Group biden-fist Morning Consult: Biden keeps on keepin’ on The Blog Race polls kamala harris Joe Biden Elizabeth Warren Bernie Sanders 2020 Democrat debates

Joe Biden had the most to lose heading into the first Democratic presidential debate, and he took a significant hit. However, he’s already begun to rebound, and no one else is getting much closer either. A report out from Morning Consult’s tracking poll shows the former VP still getting nearly a third of all support from Democratic primary voters, 32%.

Here’s their graph over time with all candidates listed:

Westlake Legal Group mc-7-2019 Morning Consult: Biden keeps on keepin’ on The Blog Race polls kamala harris Joe Biden Elizabeth Warren Bernie Sanders 2020 Democrat debates

In this series, Biden lost almost all of his post-announcement bump after the debate. That’s still not putting him in any real danger of losing the lead, as he’s more than ten points up on Bernie Sanders, who has barely budged since Biden got in the race. Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren benefited from strong debate performances, but their modest gains still put them nearly 20 points behind Biden and still trailing Sanders. At best, the race is looking as though it has developed three tiers, with Biden in a league of his own.

Of course, this is just one poll series. What about other national polling? The RCP average tracking graph shows a very similar picture — with the main difference being bad news for Bernie:

Westlake Legal Group rcp-7-2019 Morning Consult: Biden keeps on keepin’ on The Blog Race polls kamala harris Joe Biden Elizabeth Warren Bernie Sanders 2020 Democrat debates

In this aggregation, Biden appears to have lost a little more ground with primary voters, dropping below his pre-announcement floor, but also seems to be rebounding. Fifteen points below, though, Harris and Warren have caught up with Bernie for a tie in second place. Warren’s numbers have been ramping up steadily since May, but Harris’ spiked after the debate, a clear signal to the field that attacking Biden on race will at least get you noticed.

Noticed may be all it gets, though. Harris’ numbers are already drooping slightly, and at best it looks like she plateaued after the debate. Warren seems to have more momentum, and it seems as though the debate isn’t the only thing fueling her rise. If anyone has the inside edge at being the Not-Biden at this point, Warren’s more organic gain makes her the most interesting candidate in that middle tier.

Let’s not kid ourselves, however. Biden’s still the person to beat, and taking a brief beating in the debate didn’t change that. Neither did the two rounds of the first debate do anything to lift any of the bottom-tier candidates out of the mire, which should give them reason to reconsider their 2020 plans soon … very soon.

Tucker: The lefties are correct about the corporations, man

Westlake Legal Group tucker-carlson Tucker: The lefties are correct about the corporations, man Tucker Carlson The Blog populism Elizabeth Warren corporate welfare corporate activism consolidation big tech anti-trust

Is an opening speech at a National Conservatism Conference a good venue at which to give credit to … progressives? Give Tucker Carlson credit for chutzpah, at the very least, but also for a clever hook on an important argument for the future of conservatism. The Fox News prime-time host warned allies on the right gathered for this convention that they’d better pay attention to hard-left progressives about the nature of power in this era. Don’t fight bigger government, Carlson warned — fight Big Business instead.

Oh, and some of his best friends these days are Jacobins, or something:

On the whole, one has to assume that the message that attendees at the National Conservatism Conference expected to receive is that progressives are “right about a lot.” And even less expected would be to get that message from a Fox News prime-time anchor. Will wonders never cease?

National Review’s Alexandra DeSanctis provides a little more context to Tucker’s argument, which isn’t as novel as some observers might think. First, though, let’s pause for Carlson’s shout-out to Elizabeth Warren:

Carlson made these comments in response to an audience question about whether he has hope that the “national conservative” effort will prevail even though people with progressive views control so much of Silicon Valley, academia, Hollywood, and Fortune 500 companies. He praised Elizabeth Warren’s 2003 book The Two-Income Trap and said social conservatives on the right haven’t written anything as useful about how difficult it is for parents to raise children in the modern economic climate.

There’s a method to Carlson’s madness, however, and the payoff is worth it. He’s scolding the conservative movement for a lack of intellectual heft and for ignoring issues that the Left seizes in the vacuum. “We have allowed the single unhappiest people in America to control our social policy,” Carlson argues as a setup for his overall criticism of both the Right and Left:

In the course of his remarks, Carlson made three primary arguments about the current political situation. First, he said that the main threat to individuals living the way they want to live “comes not from the government but from the private sector.” Second, Carlson asserted that the behavior of progressives “is all a kind of Freudian projection.” “Whatever they say you’re doing is precisely what they’re doing,” he added. He said that observing Antifa radicals is what led him to come to this conclusion: “It’s the guys who are literally armed with steel bars and have black masks on calling other people fascist.”

Finally, Carlson said that the Left is “not interested in peaceful coexistence” and that he rejects that. “I want to be really clear,” he added shortly thereafter, “I’m still for living with people I disagree with. I will always be for that. I will always be for pluralism. I will always be for intellectual diversity. . . . That will never change. I will not allow that to change. You become something less than you should be when you allow those impulses to take over.”

Carlson is no newcomer to warning about a threat from corporate America to our liberties. It’s a recurring theme on his show — perhaps not as much as other conservo-populist issues like immigration, but certainly among his repertoire. Here’s Tucker from August of last year, taking it to Amazon and Walmart for their miserly compensation and how taxpayers are taking up the slack with welfare programs. In exchange, the rich get richer, fewer, and more politically powerful. “There’s nothing free about this market,” Carlson warned:

Corporations are “the backbone of the Left,” Carlson argued. Even apart from that point — largely correct — the distortion of politics that comes with consolidation is a problem no matter what side of the political aisle you’re on. Conservatives have fought a losing battle over smaller government while indulging in laissez-faire policies for anti-trust enforcement. That’s what creates these giants, including the Big Tech companies that conservatives loathe.

Four decades of mergers and acquisitions have resulted in marketplaces controlled by far fewer people. That economic consolidation has resulted in the consolidation and amplification of political power. That drives rent-seeking behavior by corporate interests to stifle competition, which in turn requires bigger government to enforce rent-seeking policies. In its wake, we have a workforce and electorate that feel more disconnected and impotent than ever — and now have populist reactions on both the Right and the Left as a result.

If the conservative movement is serious about free markets and small federal government, it has to start dealing with the reality of the necessity of anti-trust enforcement. That’s not just in dealing with Big Tech, but with the entire business world. It is in the solutions to the monopolistic models that conservatives need to distinguish themselves from the “Jacobins,” who yearn for socialism as the means to break the power relationship of crony capitalism. We need to advocate for distributism, a well-regulated capitalist economy that prevents consolidated power in the model which has been developing since the early 1980s.

Carlson’s clever enough to troll the audience he most needs to reach on this point in order to get its attention. Let’s hope he succeeds.

This Week’s Democrat Polling in Archer GIFs

New NBC/Wall Street Journal polling is out on the current field of Democratic Candidates and, seeing as it’s a Monday, we will need GIFs to deal with this.

So, here’s how things are going with the entire field:

Just like last week (which I explained in Taylor Swift lyrics), Joe Biden comes out on top. In this poll, he’s got 26% of the vote. I guess they don’t care that he’s a creeper who just can’t keep his hands to himself.

Next, we have Elizabeth Warren with 19%. Remember how she pretended to be native American to get ahead in life and then pretended it was no biggie? She kind of reminds me of Mallory.

Kamala Harris is coming in at 13% and will promise pretty much anything to raise those numbers. She’s kind of like Cheryl Tunt.

In fourth place is Bernie Sanders, also polling at 13%. He is still as economically literate as ever, leading the electorate to beg of him, as Archer begs Lana:

(preferably one on economics)

7% of poll respondents chose “not sure”as their candidate of choice. These votes are up for grabs, so the candidates are ready to sweeten the pot.

Next, also at 7%, is Pete Buttigieg“Mayor Pete,” as he’s known spends most of his time talking about the fact that he’s gay and has a husband, which nobody really cares about, but he really really wants us to.

He wants to be able to complain like Dr. Krieger.

Democrat Internal Poll of Swing Voters Is Leaked and the Results Are Brutal

Westlake Legal Group bernie Democrat Internal Poll of Swing Voters Is Leaked and the Results Are Brutal primary poll Politics internal poll Ilhan Omar Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story Elizabeth Warren donald trump democrats Brutal Bernie Sanders AOC Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez 2020 election

Some Democrat strategist is going to wake up in a cold sweat later tonight after seeing this.

The Democratic Party conducted an internal poll of swing voters, including their feelings on the “squad” and socialism. The result are absolutely brutal when juxtaposed with the stated positions of those running in the 2020 Democratic primary race.

The poll was leaked to Axios and here are some of the results.

The poll — taken in May, before Speaker Pelosi’s latest run-in with AOC and the three other liberal House freshmen known as “The Squad” — included 1,003 likely general-election voters who are white and have two years or less of college education.

  • These are the “white, non-college voters” who embraced Donald Trump in 2016 but are needed by Democrats in swing House districts.
  • The group that took the poll shared the results with Axios on the condition that it not be named, because the group has to work with all parts of the party.

The findings:

  • Ocasio-Cortez was recognized by 74% of voters in the poll; 22% had a favorable view.
  • Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota — another member of The Squad — was recognized by 53% of the voters; 9% (not a typo) had a favorable view.

Socialism was viewed favorably by 18% of the voters and unfavorably by 69%.

  • Capitalism was 56% favorable; 32% unfavorable.
  • “Socialism is toxic to these voters,” said the top Democrat.

Headlining members of the fresh face caucus, Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, have favorable numbers just above the DMV. Actually, Omar’s 9% might not even meet that threshold. I’d have been interested to see the results of Rashida Tlaib but that wasn’t published here.

The numbers on socialism are nice to see. While it’s no doubt a popular trend among young, liberal voters, to see swing voters still sharply opposed to that dumpster fire ideology gives me hope we’ve still got a few more years left in us.

There was some mixed news in the poll though. Trump is doing worse with these voters than he did in 2016 but has shown improvement since the 2018 election, where many of the same swing voters swept Democrats into power in the House. Trump should have room to win the rest back if he can present a disciplined message to this group down the stretch while exposing the radicalism of the Democrats.

As I’ve shared before, I think Bernie Sanders is dead at this point so I’m not going to bother speculating about what would happen if he were the nominee, but if Elizabeth Warren ends up in the position, which is looking very possible right now, the Democrat party is going to have to contend with her outspoken support of socialist policies. This poll also shows why Joe Biden has outpaced everyone else. He’s not actually a moderate, but just his appearance of moderation compared to his challengers has given him a level of support in the middle that the others can’t really touch. That could change though if he keeps floundering as he has.

Trump’s biggest advantage in 2020 is how insane Democrats have gone. I see no evidence they are planning to turn the ship around at this point.

Netroots Nation, Headlined by Elizabeth Warren, Demonstrates a Do-It-Yourself Abortion On Stage

Netroots Nation is a gathering of crazies that happens each year where no idea is too liberal and no position is too insane.

Don’t kid yourself though, this is a mainstream Democrat conference that hosts the biggest names in the party each summer. The media treat it as mainstream as well, glowingly reporting on it in a way they never do regarding CPAC. This year Elizabeth Warren, who has managed to climb into 2nd place in the 2020 Democrat primary, headlined the event.

Given this is a “progressive” gathering, it’s a given that every single person in attendance, from the stage to the people who clean the bathrooms, is rabidly pro-abortion.

Even still, this is shocking.

Yes, that’s a woman gleefully demonstrating on a watermelon how a woman can give herself a do-it-yourself abortion at home. In her hand is some kind of device designed to do the procedure. She proclaims it’s “easy” and “not surgery.” This is happening on stage, in front of the same crowd the major 2020 candidates are speaking in front of.

The celebration of abortion in this way is just unfathomably evil and sick. This is a fetish to these people. It was just a decade or so ago that Democrats were insisting abortion should “safe, legal, and rare.” Now, they perform abortions on watermelons on stage. It’d be unbelievable if we weren’t all witnesses it play out so vividly.

But perhaps it’s best they are being honest now. Like the slavers who would take pleasure in abusing their victims, pro-abortion extremists seem to actually enjoy the idea of women killing their babies for sport. The audience and panelists are actually clapping and laughing as this woman explains a horribly inhumane procedure that takes another human life. The fact that we’ve arrived at such a depraved state as a nation still baffles me.

Meanwhile, the same media that will lose their minds over Donald Trump getting two scoops of ice cream will not even acknowledge this disgusting display took place. Instead, they’ll continue to mainstream the conference and pretend this is all perfectly normal.

One day, future generations are going to look back on pro-abortionists with all the disgust we now look back on slavery with. I just pray that future generation makes its appearance sooner rather than later.

Oof. Biden’s lead contracts, Bernie is disappearing

Westlake Legal Group BidenJoeStaresOutWindow715Lgr Oof. Biden’s lead contracts, Bernie is disappearing YouGov The Blog polls Pete Buttigieg kamala harris Joe Biden Elizabeth Warren Bernie Sanders 2020 Democratic primaries

I’m old enough to remember the heady days when Joe Biden was polling somewhere north of 40% and the only other person that could even crawl into the teens was Bernie Sanders. But that was literally weeks ago. The latest Economist/YouGov poll just came out and it’s difficult to say if we actually have a frontrunner among the Democrats. Biden has dropped to 22 percent and Elizabeth Warren is only five points behind him, barely outside the margin of error. And what happened to Bernie Sanders? He’s fallen back to eleven percent, in danger of hitting single digits. (The Hill)

Former Vice President Joe Biden is hanging on to the top spot in the Democratic primary field, leading his nearest rival Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) by 5 points, according to an Economist/YouGov poll released Wednesday.

Biden notched 22 percent support among likely Democratic primary voters in the poll, while Warren finished in second place with 17 percent. In third was Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), who took 14 percent support in the survey.

Rounding out the top five candidates were Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) with 11 percent and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who received 5 percent of the vote.

It’s beginning to look like the Pete Buttigieg boomlet has gone bust. He was the flavor of the week for quite a while there, but his opponents have been tagging him on his handling of the police shooting in South Bend last month, as well as suggesting that he’s insufficiently woke in terms of racism. In any event, his numbers are heading in the wrong direction.

Getting back to the headline, how did Joe Biden slip so far so fast? I suppose we’ll have to credit that at least partially to the first debates and the way Kamala Harris somehow dragged him into a debate on busing (!?!) decades after the last time anyone was talking about it. The pile-on by the media was relentless and it appears that enough people are paying attention to cause him some damage.

Do we really think this could happen to Biden for the third time? Granted, his first presidential bid was kind of a long shot. The second run just hit some unfortunate timing because he ran smack into the teeth of the Hope and Change moment. But this time seemed like it just had to be different. Biden came out of the gates looking as if the primary was only a formality. He had not only the highest name recognition but the best approval ratings and a gold plated resume. And yet somehow Kamala Harris has dragged him into a mud fight. Oddly enough, it hasn’t helped her as much as Elizabeth Warren, though. Those Dem primary voters are a fickle lot this year, or so it seems.

Let’s not start writing Biden’s political obituary just yet, though. He’s still in the lead outside the margins and he has at least a couple more debates to do some damage control. But he clearly can’t take anything for granted anymore and float above the fray. If Biden really wants this, he’s going to have to earn it.
