Bride doesn’t want stepdad to walk her down aisle because she ‘hates’ him

A bride-to-be who says she refused to ask her stepfather to walk her down the aisle is now concerned her decision has torn her family apart.

In a now-viral Reddit post, the woman, 23, said she instead asked her uncle to do the honor of giving her away to her future husband.

She decided against asking her stepfather, who married her mother when she was 12 because she “hates” him and attributes her “mental illness and eating disorder” to him and his bullying when she was a child.

“I’ve never liked him,” she wrote. “He says horrible things to people, says racist, sexist, transphobic things for attention, and heavily contributed to my mental illness and eating disorder as a teenager.”

The Reddit poster said she once confided to her mother about how she felt about her stepfather when she was 15.

“My mom knows that we don’t get along, and she knows I didn’t like him,” she said. “She would always insist that despite having a nasty mouth, he was a really good guy and he would never hurt us.”

She “mostly” stopped talking to him over the years, she said, despite the fact that her stepfather “still refers to me as his daughter and my mother insists he loves me.

“It is not mutual, but everyone has assumed that I love him too.”

So when it came down to deciding who would walk her down the aisle, she said, it was a no-brainer. Her family is small, and since she never knew her father, she always wanted her uncle to be the one to do the honor.

But when word got back to her mother, things did not go so well.

“My mom called me crying asking why I wouldn’t want step dad to do it, saying it’s broken his heart,” the future bride wrote. “She pressed on about how heartbroken he is, saying he always thought we had a good, funny relationship.

She continued, “I said, ‘There was nothing funny about him ruining my self esteem and teenage years. I hate him and if it were up to me, he wouldn’t even be at the wedding.’”

Her stepfather is now angry with her and asked the uncle not to walk her down the aisle. What’s more, she said, the uncle is no longer speaking to the stepfather.

“I feel like I’ve torn what little family I have apart,” she added.

Reddit users weighed in on the family drama and mostly sided with the bride.

“Your wedding. He doesn’t have to even be there. It’s your day,” one Redditor commented. “The fact he’s tried to ruin it by getting your uncle involved days a lot about him.”

“If stepdad really loved her like mom thinks, he’d be reevaluating how he’s treated her, not trying to screw up her wedding to soothe his ego,” another Redditor said. “This right here proves he’s a jerk.”

Others called out the bride’s mother for not stepping in between her daughter and husband earlier.

“She knew you didn’t like it, she knew exactly how he made you feel because you freaking told her! And she decided to just ignore it all and pretend everything was perfect,” one person wrote.

Another Redditor agreed: “Mom put her husband ahead of her child, which is almost always unacceptable.”

If you’re in need of a smile, you’re in luck.

A video of a baby showering her mother with a load of kisses has captured the Internet’s hearts.

The viral clip, posted last week by the Facebook account Scary Mommy Time Out, shows a Texas mother kissing her 9-month-old. Moments later, the infant follows up with a barrage of kisses that look more like the child trying to eat her cheek.

NEWBORN’S ‘MEAN-MUGGING’ DURING PHOTO SHOOT GOES VIRAL

The adorable attack appears to catch the mom off guard as she laughs uncontrollably. A man, presumably the child’s father, can be heard in the background saying, “Do it again!”

The mom proceeds to kiss the baby once more, and is yet again met with the infant’s wild kisses.

MOM’S HEART ‘BURST WITH LOVE’ WHEN SHE CAUGHT TWIN BABY SONS HUGGING IN CRIB

Facebook users fell in love with the mommy-baby video, which garnered 3.8 million views as of Tuesday evening.

“Love this video, it’s just so natural,” one Facebook user commented. “Love between mommy and her beautiful baby.”

“Mine did this to me tonight!” another person wrote. “He eventually sucked a huge hickey on my chin, but man it was so sweet!”

Another Facebook user said: “This baby’s so cute it’s ridiculous.”

The adorable video had some parents feeling nostalgic about their own children, who are no longer babies.

“I miss those days,” one person wrote, while another said: “My son used to do the same. The best feeling in the world, pure love.”

One Facebook user, however, thought the baby in the video wasn’t actually trying to kiss their mom.

“It’s looking for a nipple,” they joked.

Florida cops paid a visit to a home after receiving reports of a woman screaming, only to learn that the noise wasn’t a woman in need of help —  it was the homeowner’s pet parrot, who had a lot to say.

Police arrived at a couple’s Lake Worth Beach home just before New Year’s Eve, after a neighbor called the authorities over the concerning pleas for help, according to ViralHog.

MAN FIGHTING TO GET HIS EMOTIONAL SUPPORT COYOTE BACK AFTER IT’S TAKEN BY ANIMAL CONTROL

Home security footage shows the husband fixing his wife’s car as four deputies approach the driveway. His 40-year-old parrot, Rambo, is heard yelling “help” and “let me out!”

The unidentified man then called out the parrot’s name and went to fetch him to introduce the squealing culprit to deputies.

“Rambo, meet the boys in green,” he said, before showing the men some of Rambo’s tricks.

The man revealed that the parrot’s yelling is something he taught him when he was a child.

“Sometimes Rambo yells ‘help, help, let me out.’ Something I taught him when I was a kid and Rambo lived in a cage,” the man said.

Though the man was startled by his visit from law enforcement, he said “we all had a good laugh” after the fact.

He also took Rambo to meet the concerned neighbor to explain everything.

“Afterward, I also introduced Rambo to the neighbor who called in the screaming. She, too, had a good laugh,” he added.

USPS delivery driver violently mistreats package, caught on security camera

A man’s video recording of a USPS delivery worker mishandling his heavy package in the worst way has the Internet calling out the mailman.

The video, originally posted on YouTube by Nick Verzilli, shows the mailman kicking, shoving and throwing what Verzilli said was about 40 pounds’ worth of computer equipment, according to the Daily Mail.

MICHIGAN DELIVERY DRIVER SEEN IN VIDEO RUNNING OVER AMAZON PACKAGE 3 TIMES

In the 2-minute clip, the USPS worker tosses the package onto the street and then proceeds to kick it toward Verzilli’s home. When the mail carrier gets to the porch steps, he briefly picks up the box to walk it over to the front door.

When he finally makes it to the porch, he carelessly tosses the package.

Verzilli shared video footage from two different angles: one shot from the second floor of the home and the other from a security camera on the porch.

He also shared photos of the damaged package, which displayed “Heavy” stickers on it. The box had drag marks and was ripped in multiple places.

Verzilli shared in a Reddit post that he began recording the mailman after he saw him drop the package for the first time. When Redditors suggested Verzilli should have gone outside to stop or help the USPS worker, he claimed this wasn’t the first time the mail carrier has mistreated packages.

“He’s been confronted many times before,” Verzilli wrote. “I can’t change him. I’d rather be smart about the situation, stay clear and let him do his thing, then take care of it through the proper channels.”

He added: “My immediate involvement won’t unbreak my stuff if it’s already broken.”

Verzilli said he had previously spoken to the mailman and that he was well-aware of what he was doing.

“He knows what he’s doing, he knows he’s being filmed from the front yard cameras,” Verzilli said. “I’m not going to confront him again, it’s like putting a kid in timeout for the same misbehavior over and over again. It’s obviously not getting through.”

Verzilli said he filed complaints with the USPS and USPS Office of the Inspector General offices. He received a response from the inspector general’s office that said the incident was “being escalated.”

As for the package, Verzilli said he returned the computer equipment to the company and did not open the damaged package.

Fireworks at New Jersey marriage proposal prompts evacuation of theater: ‘This was a very poor decision’

A man from New Jersey has been charged with disorderly conduct after setting off fireworks in celebration of his buddy’s engagement — and scaring the living daylights out of everyone within earshot.

Nathan Sanders, 23, had arranged to set off the fireworks outside of an indoor rock-climbing facility in Howell Township, to coincide with a marriage proposal his friend was planning on Wednesday. However, the sound of the fireworks was mistaken for gunfire, and immediately caused panic at the adjacent Xscape movie theater, according to Howell Township police.

Some patrons believed the gunfire to be coming from inside the theater. Police responded to the scene, but could not immediately confirm “there was an actual shooting.”

Patrons of the movie theater were evacuated and detained during the preliminary investigation.

According to police, a manager at the movie theater had discovered that Sanders, from Lakewood, had set off fireworks outside of the adjacent Climb Zone. Law enforcement soon discovered the remnants of “discharged fireworks” nearby.

Bride doesn’t want sister as maid of honor because she’ll be wearing arm sling

A soon-to-be bride has confessed that she does not want her sister in her bridal party because she will be wearing an arm sling after having surgery.

The woman, who posted her bridal dilemma on Reddit, said she had asked her younger sister to be her maid of honor when she got engaged 14 months ago.

Her sister, 20, had a torn ligament in her elbow from playing sports as a teenager. But instead of getting surgery to repair it, she said, the sister kept putting it off and continued to play sports.

“Almost immediately upon me asking my sister to be my maid of honor, she jumped into action on finally getting her elbow surgery,” the future bride wrote.

The bride said she thought her sister would schedule her surgery in advance of the wedding to avoid wearing a sling, however, she instead chose a date just a week before the wedding.

Now she’s concerned her sister’s arm accessory will ruin her wedding.

“Obviously, I want my sister to be pain-free and finally get her surgery. But, like any human being, there is a selfish side of me,” she said.

“I don’t want her to be the maid of honor in my wedding because she’ll be wearing a sling in all of the photos and videos from the wedding.”

The bride-to-be said her family thinks she’s a “horrible person” for considering asking her sister not to be in the wedding.

“I feel as though she could’ve waited after the wedding to get the surgery,” she added. “Considering she’s waited 3 years already, or had enough time to get the surgery in advance of the wedding.”

Redditors had plenty of thoughts on the wedding dilemma, and most sided with the sister.

“She had to get her arm fixed. Why don’t YOU change your wedding if it’s such a big deal?” one Redditor commented.

This is definitely a unique way to turn a man down.

A woman brought her 2019 to a hilarious end by reportedly pranking a man who sent her his number. Instead of chatting him up, she tricked him into thinking that he had just adopted a chimp.

Emily Cain, from England, shared images of the text exchange she says happened between her and the unnamed man on her Twitter page, where she explained, “A lads just sent me his number so thought I’d take advantage of it.”

The first image shows the beginning of the text conversation, where she sent him the following message: “Thank you and congratulations! You have successfully adopted bubbles the chimp! $9.85 will be charged to your bill per month. To cancel this subscription without any further being charged, just reply to this message with the word STOP.”

The full conversation (WARNING: screenshots include graphic language) can be seen on her Twitter page.

When the prank victim responded, “Stop,” she decided to keep the joke going.

“Thank you,” she replied, “and congratulations from us an animal rescue center and Bubbles himself for donating an additional $6 per month to help for food and water for Bubbles! To cancel this subscription without being charged any further, just reply to this message with the world [SIC] STOP.”

Once again, the man replied, “Stop,” to which she replied, “Thank you and congratulations for paying an additional $4 per month to receive a cuddly toy version of Bubbles.”

This continued for a few more messages before the seemingly angry man demanded to speak with someone from support.

When he thought he’d been connected with support, he wrote, “Hello, hope you have had a good Christmas. I received a text message today regarding me paying a monthly direct debit to save a monkey. Could I cancel all of the direct debits to my account please? I didn’t sign up for them. Thanks.”

At this point, Cain decided to pull back the curtain and wrote, “You have been pranked by the prank patrol, love from Emily Cain.”

Some users were skeptical as to the veracity of the images, with one questioning how the prank’s victim didn’t notice all of the spelling mistakes.

A couple in South Africa will soon be enjoying the honeymoon of their dreams thanks to some Christmastime generosity from a jolly old bearded fellow.

We’re talking, of course, about Colonel Sanders.

Hector Mkansi and Nonhlanhla Soldaat, who became viral sensations after getting engaged in a South Africa location of KFC, officially tied the knot on Tuesday during a ceremony at the Thaba Eco Hotel in Johannesburg. But while KFC South Africa has already pledged to fund the couple’s honeymoon in New York — and live-streamed the actual wedding on social media — it was local well-wishers and corporate sponsors who helped to fund their New Year’s Eve nuptials.

As reported by South Africa’s The Star, the groom’s suit was purchased and donated by Black Coffee, a popular South African DJ, and the bridesmaid dresses were donated by actress Tsholofelo Matshaba.

Dozens of corporate sponsors also pitched in to pledge their wares or services, including but not limited to Bride & Co (which designed the bride’s custom-made gown), Le Cruset, Land Rover, Puma, Woolworths, Amstel, Coca-Cola, Viceroy, Krispy Kreme, Jameson and Polo, to name just a few.

“Mzanzi [South Africa] gave us a chance to have the wedding of our dreams,” the couple said in a statement provided to The Star. “We are grateful to everyone who pledged and the millions of South Africans who supported us.”

Footage of the couple’s engagement first began making the rounds in November, after which KFC South Africa asked for help identifying the lovebirds.

“Please help us find this beautiful couple,” KFC South Africa wrote in a Twitter post. “DM us any leads, there might be a Finger Lickin’ Good surprise in it for you too … We love love.”

Within hours, the couple was identified.

And while some users took to the comments to poke fun at the man’s proposal venue, the majority of the reactions celebrated their happy moment.

“Brought tears to my eyes, they look so in love!!” one wrote.

“Never judge anyone’s standard of living. This must be a dream come true, beginning of happy life,” another said.

Mkansi and Soldaat, meanwhile, were already married, but were never able to afford anything but a small traditional ceremony, he told CNN.

A California traveler who discovered he had booked his family into the same hotel that was hosting a New Year’s Eve ‘swingers’ party is outraged and wants a refund, according to reports.

“People that are spending good money to stay at the Hilton should be aware of what’s going on under their nose, especially if they have families,” the father of four, who requested anonymity, told FOX 40 of Sacramento. “And, you know, there’s a hot tub there and there’s crazies in the hot tub.”

The man and his family were actually staying at a DoubleTree Hotel in Sacramento, but DoubleTree is owned by Hilton.

The swingers party was being hosted by an outfit called Allures, which was expecting about 800 people to participate, according to promotional materials reviewed by the Sacramento Bee. Accommodations for the 21-and-older event were said to include 10,000 feet of dance space plus a “dungeon room” featuring devices for enhancing sex acts.

The sex party guests were supposedly staying in a separate area, away from other guests, but the anonymous outraged father told FOX 40 of Sacramento that he still thinks the hotel’s management should have warned him what would be happening under the same roof.

“I’m at the point where I don’t even want to bring my family into that environment,” he told the station. “I think it’s totally wrong that the Hilton is putting on something like this.”

He said he tried to negotiate a refund with the hotel but came away dissatisfied.

“Pay money and not get a refund p—-s me off,” he told FOX 40. “They were kind of rude to me. They actually sent me a survey on my phone, like within the last hour. They asked if they helped me out and I wrote poor, poor, poor, poor. No, you did not help me out. You won’t give me my money back.”

A Hilton spokesperson shared the company’s view with FOX 40.

“From a company perspective, we do not discriminate against any individual or group and our goal is to provide a welcoming and safe environment for all guests visiting our hotel.”

The station also received a statement from the independent owner and manager of the DoubleTree where the party took place. It read:

“There is a private event that has been booked for New Year’s Eve. We take the comfort and privacy of all of our guests very seriously.  As with any large event the utmost care is taken to assure there is no disruption to other guests, including additional security. With that being said we understand if a guest feels they would like to cancel their reservation and will, of course, accommodate them to the best of our ability.”
