A Pennsylvania man was reportedly charged last week with sexually assaulting one of his bride-to-be’s bridesmaids just two days before the scheduled wedding.

The alleged crime reportedly stopped when the bride-to-be entered the room, saw what was happening and started a physical fight with the man.

The wedding party and guests had been celebrating at the Shawnee Inn in Smithfield Township on Aug. 30 when Daniel Carney allegedly pulled the woman into a downstairs locker room and attacked her, according to Scranton’s WNEP –TV.

Carney was charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of an unconscious person and indecent assault.

Surveillance video allegedly shows Carney taking the victim, who was “extremely unsteady on her feet” into the men’s locker room.

The alleged victim blacked out from drinking and woke up in the locker room with Carney fondling her breast, and with her bikini bottom removed, WNEP reported.

In a phone call after the alleged assault that the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office allowed investigators to listen in on, Carney repeatedly apologizes to his accuser for the alleged assault, blaming himself several times, WNEP reported.

He also admitted to investigators that he assaulted the victim, according to WNEP.

Want to be miserable? Just three states offer an array of places you may like.

Business Insider recently released its list of the 50 most miserable cities in America – with cities in California (10), New Jersey (9), and Florida (6), accounting for half the list.

In compiling its rankings, Business Insider said it used U.S. Census information to analyze 1,000 U.S. cities on metrics such as crime, drug addiction, population changes, job opportunities, commute times, household incomes, abandoned homes and effects from problems such as natural disasters.

LA CITY OFFICIALS PRESSURING NEWSOM TO DECLARE STATE OF EMERGENCY AMID HOMELESS CRISIS

It decided that Gary, Ind., just outside Chicago, was the nation’s most miserable city, followed by Port Arthur, Texas, and Detroit.

What the most miserable cities had in common, according to the outlet, were “few opportunities, devastation from natural disasters, high crime and addiction rates, and often many abandoned houses.”

The data appear to support President Trump’s recent criticisms of California. Last month, the president charged that urban areas in the Golden State continue to “destroy themselves” by failing to address serious issues such as homelessness.

The 10 California cities and their rankings were: Bell Gardens (14); Compton (41); El Monte (22); Hemet (44); Huntington Park (10); Lancaster (50); Lynwood (21); Montebello (40); Palmdale; and San Bernardino (42).

The nine New Jersey cities and their rankings were: Camden (8); Newark (5); New Brunswick (11); Passaic (4); Paterson (19); Plainfield 930); Trenton (17); Union City (15); and West New York (29).

The six Florida cities and their rankings were: Fort Pierce (34); Hialeah (13); Miami Gardens (28); North Miami (25); North Miami Beach (33); Hallandale Beach (37).

Former Georgia cop who fatally shot unarmed fleeing man acquitted of manslaughter

A since-fired Georgia police officer who fatally shot an unarmed black man fleeing after a confrontation was found not guilty Saturday of voluntary manslaughter and involuntary manslaughter.

However, Zecheriah Presley was convicted of violating his oath of office by shooting Tony Green, 33, in Camden County last year. Presley was fired from the Kingsland Police Department as a result of the incident and indicted by a grand jury after Green was found to be unarmed.

Presley was ordered to be jailed pending sentencing Oct. 18. He faces a prison term of one to five years. He could have faced up to 20 years in prison if convicted of manslaughter.

News4Jax reported that the trial judge ordered deliberations to continue with an alternate juror earlier Saturday after the only black member of the panel fell ill.

Though Presley’s body camera recorded the ordeal, darkness and something covering the camera lens left the jury without a clear video of the shooting and the moments leading up to it.

Presley said he followed Green’s car on the night of June 20, 2018, because he believed Green was driving on a suspended license. Dash camera video showed Green drive off the side of the road, open the car door and run. He returned to the vehicle briefly to grab an object, then fled again.

Presley chased Green on foot down a dark street, before a short struggle that was not seen on video. The recording picked up the electrified clicking sound from Presley’s Taser, followed by eight gunshots.

Presley told another officer who arrived on the scene that Green had been on top of him, trying to grab his taser. “And then I was going for my gun, and he started taking off. And I fired,” Presley said on the video. “I thought he was going to kill me,” he added, according to First Coast News.

WASHINGTON STATE TEEN’S COLD CASE MURDER CRACKED AFTER NEARLY THREE DECADES

An autopsy found Green had been struck by bullets eight times. He’d had small amounts of alcohol, marijuana, cocaine and a tranquilizer in his system.

On the witness stand Wednesday, Presley added new details to his account. He said he opened fire only after Green turned back to face him and extended an arm, making Presley believe he had a gun. Investigators found Green was carrying a cell phone.

“Tony Green was not shot because of misdemeanor offenses,” said defense attorney Adrienne Browning in her closing argument Thursday. “He was shot because of bad decision after bad decision until the threat was overwhelming and Zech feared for his life.”

FLORIDA WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER PARENTS FIND 24 PIPE BOMBS IN HER BEDROOM

“He made a fatal mistake and it was a mistake that cost a man his life,” prosecutor Rocky Bridges said of Presley in his closing argument. “You don’t have to like Tony Green. … He ran from the police, not a good decision. But he was not armed. He did not turn on officer Presley. He did not deserve to die.”

Prosecutors said Presley had 474 days from the shooting to the beginning of the trial to craft his story in compliance with the law. “If he really thought he grabbed a weapon, if he really thought that’s what happened, you get on the radio and call for backup. You don’t run and chase after an individual with your Taser drawn,” Bridges told the jury, according to News4Jax. “He had the opportunity to say, ‘I thought I saw a gun. He pointed the gun at me. He turned on me.’ You didn’t hear that.”

“My son was murdered,” Green’s father, Wayne Anderson, told News4Jax after the verdict was read. “The man that murdered my son gets to go home to his sons … and can only possibly serve one to five for murder.

“This ought to serve notice to a lot of our young black men and black men, period, that you can run up and down the football field, you can run on down the courts, you can hit baseballs, you can do it,” Anderson said. “But at the end of the day, when [they] see you, they see a black man.”

Key witness in Amber Guyger murder trial shot and killed days after guilty verdict

A key witness in the murder trial of Dallas police officer Amber Guyger was shot and killed at an apartment complex late Friday, according to an attorney representing the family of the man Guyger shot.

“Joshua Brown, the next-door neighbor of [Botham Jean], was killed last night after being shot several times by an unknown assailant,” S. Lee Merritt posted to social media on Saturday.

According to The Dallas Morning News, the 28-year-old Brown was found with multiple gunshot wounds at the complex near the city’s Medical District at around 10:30 p.m. He was pronounced dead at Parkland Memorial Hospital.

The paper reported that witnesses told police they heard several gunshots and saw a silver four-door sedan speeding out of the complex parking lot.

“An ADA [assistant district attorney] has confirmed that it was, in fact, Brown who was killed, although they have yet to identify a suspect or motive for the shooting,” Merritt said. “The case is now in the hands of the Dallas Police Department.”

Brown lived across the hall from Jean at the South Side Flats apartments and testified in court about the night Jean was killed.

“Brown’s testimony stood out as a fact witness who was approaching his apartment directly across from Botham Jean’s apartment when shots rang out,” Merritt said. “Brown was still visibly shaken up from the incident when he took the stand to testify on behalf of the prosecution. His murder underscores the reality of the black experience in America.”

Merritt said Brown was a former athlete turned entrepreneur, and he “lived in constant fear that he could be the next victim of gun violence, either state-sanctioned or otherwise.”

AMBER GUYGER SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN SHOOTING THAT KILLED BOTHAM JEAN IN DALLAS; VICTIM’S BROTHER HUGS HER IN COURT

“We have more work to do deal with the constant threats to our community both from within and without. Brown deserves the same justice he sought to ensure the Jean family,” the lawyer said. “The Dallas County criminal justice system must [be] mobilized to identify his killer and see that he is held accountable for this murder.”

Dallas County prosecutor Jason Hermus, who headed up the prosecution of Guyger, told The Morning News that Brown “bravely came forward to testify when others wouldn’t.

“If we had more people like him, we would have a better world.”

Guyger was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Wednesday for killing Jean on the night of Sept. 6, 2018. The four-year veteran of the Dallas Police Department was fired and charged with manslaughter after she entered Jean’s apartment, believing it to be her own, and shooting him twice in the belief he was a burglar.

Guyger was still in uniform at the time but was off-duty, having just finished a 13-hour shift

She allegedly parked on the fourth floor of the apartment complex by accident, even though she lived on the third floor.

According to the police arrest warrant affidavit that recounted Guyger’s recollection of events, she entered Jean’s apartment through the partially ajar front door and drew her gun when she saw “a large silhouette” in what she believed was her apartment. Jean ignored Guyger’s verbal commands and she shot him.

The case drew national attention and outrage, highlighting racial tensions between the black community and law enforcement and causing many to question the use of deadly force by white officers against black people.

Guyger’s sentence also sparked anger over what many considered to be a light sentence.

“That 10 years in prison is 10 years for her reflection and for her to change her life, but there is much more to be done by the city of Dallas,” Jean’s mother, Allison, said. “The corruption that we saw during this process must stop and it must stop for you. After now, I leave Dallas but you live in Dallas, and it must stop for everyone.”

The incident occurred at around 9:30 p.m. when the vehicle approached the Russell Parkway gate, but failed to stop as ordered by the sentry.

As the car accelerated through the gate, security personnel activated the barrier, which the vehicle struck “at a high rate of speed.”

Florida animal rescue groups have stepped in to help a woman desperate to find her disabled dog after her car was stolen with the husky mix inside.

Wanda Ferrari had left the air conditioning on for her 13-year-old dog Zorra, whose back legs are paralyzed, while she popped into a Dollar Tree in Oakland Park, just north of Fort Lauderdale. When Ferrari returned, she found her car and dog had disappeared.

Panel from missing Los Angeles Public Library sculpture found after 50 years

Fifty years after a three-panel bronze sculpture disappeared from the grounds of the Los Angeles Public Library in the city’s downtown one of the panels has been found.

The “Well of the Scribes” vanished in 1969 when gardens in front of the library were demolished to make way for a parking lot, according to reports.

“The gardens were fortunately restored in 1993, but the Well of the Scribes went missing,” said City Librarian John Szabo told KABC-TV Friday.

Author Susan Orlean referenced the sculpture in her 2018 bestseller “The Library Book.”

That inspired the managing editor at Alta magazine to commission an article about the missing sculpture which ran over the summer, The Los Angeles Times reported.

LIBRARY OF CONGRESS VENDOR FORCED TO REMOVE IMPEACHMENT-THEMED ‘PEACH MINT’ DESSERT ITEM FROM CAFETERIA

An antiques dealer in Arizona read the article and recognized the sculpture, according to the paper.

A bronze panel he bought for $500 years earlier was a piece of it, the paper reported. The dealer kept the panel in his apartment.

The dealer gave it back to the library, which unveiled it Friday.

LIBRARY BOOK RETURNED WITH FULL TACO SHOVED BETWEEN ITS PAGES

“Up until now, we thought [the sculpture] might have been destroyed or was in someone’s backyard,” Szabo said, according to the Times. “We just didn’t know if it would ever be found.”

The “Well of Scribes” went on display in the gardens when the Library opened in 1926. According to the paper, it pays homage to history’s great writers.

Now the Library wants to solve the rest of the mystery and find out what happened to the other two missing panels.

“We’ve always been hopeful,”  Szabo told KABC, “but I think we’re especially hopeful now that part of it has been discovered, that we might find the other two pieces.”

Illinois man accused of driving SUV into family, killing 1 and injuring 4

An Illinois man was charged with first-degree murder Saturday after he allegedly drove his SUV into a family outside a soccer game, killing a man and injuring four other people.

Priscilian Carranza, 22, of Waukegan, fled the scene but was later taken into custody after a patrol officer stopped a damaged SUV that fit the description provided by witnesses.

According to a Waukegan police statement, officers responded to reports of a fight at the Lake County Sports Center parking lot on the city’s west side.

“It was also reported that someone was struck by a vehicle,” the statement said, according to the Chicago Tribune. “While en route officers were updated that the suspect vehicle had fled the scene. The suspect vehicle was described as a black SUV. Upon arrival, officers located multiple victims that had been struck by the suspect vehicle.”

A man in his 40s was taken to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries. His identity is currently being withheld pending an autopsy scheduled for Monday, according to the Tribune.

Three of the injured – two teenagers and a 10-year-old girl – were reportedly related to the man who was killed. A fourth injured person was described as a man in his 20s who is not related to the other three. All the injured victims except for the 10-year-old girl were taken to an area hospital and are expected to survive, according to Fox 32.

Police told the outlet that the altercation began at a parking lot in the complex as a soccer match was finishing up.

“As the investigation was beginning, a patrol officer spotted a black SUV with front-end damage and conducted a traffic stop,” the statement added. “The black SUV was occupied with three people. Those three people were brought to the Waukegan Police Department.”

Carranza appeared in court on Saturday and was ordered held in Lake County Jail on a $5 million bond. He is next scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 29.

A previous permit application had a wrong date requiring Thompson to refile, Fox 59 Indianapolis reported Friday

The History Channel wanted to film the exhumation for a documentary but has ditched those plans, leaving Thompson to proceed on his own, the station reported.

Crown Hill Cemetery opposes opening the grave. Thompson has filed a lawsuit challenging that opposition.

The FBI says Dillinger was buried in Indiana after agents gunned him down in 1934 outside a Chicago movie theater showing Clark Gable’s “Manhattan Melodrama.”

Those who believe otherwise are pedaling “a conspiracy theory,” it says.
