California man arrested after cops find him unconscious next to dead infant, authorities say

Authorities in northern California say they have arrested a 29-year-old man who they found unconscious in a home Saturday afternoon with a 13-month-old baby at his side.

Police responded to a home in Santa Rosa – about 60 miles north of San Francisco – around 12:50 p.m. on Saturday. They found a man they identified as Patrick Oneill and an infant lying next to him on the floor of a bedroom. The baby was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said there were no signs of “physical violence” but they found “signs of recent drug use next to where the child was discovered.” It was unclear what role, if any, drugs played in the baby’s death.

Oneill was taken to a hospital with “life-threatening injuries,” police said. He is expected to be booked into the Sonoma County Jail on a charge of suspicion of murder after his release from the hospital, they said.

“We still have some more investigating to do,” Santa Rosa pole Lt. Dan Marincik told Bay City News. “We saw no signs of physical injury, and there was narcotic paraphernalia in the room. We believe that the 29-year-old put the child in a situation that ultimately caused his death.”

New Mexico man accused of sending nude photos of woman who dumped him

A New Mexico man has been accused of sending nude photos of a woman who dumped him to her friends and relatives, according to a report.

Anthony Sandy, 23, of Albuquerque, was jailed after being charged with extortion, stalking, voyeurism and unauthorized distribution of sensitive images, the Farmington Daily Times reported Saturday.

He wasn’t represented by a lawyer as of Friday, the paper reported.

Court documents say he sent nude photos to nine of the woman’s friends and relatives without her consent or knowledge, the paper reported.

Pearl Harbor sailors laid to rest on same day in NJ, Kansas 78 years after 1941 attack

The remains of two U.S. military veterans, who were killed in Pearl Harbor on the same day in 1941, have finally been laid to rest —  on the same day, nearly 78 years later.

Harold Kendall “Bud” Costill, an 18-year-old Navy fireman 3rd class sailor on the battleship USS West Virginia, and Wilbur Clayton Barrett, a 26-year-old Navy seaman 2nd class who was aboard the USS Oklahoma, both died on Dec. 7, 1941, when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.

On Saturday, they were both buried, in Clayton, N.J., and El Dorado, Kan., respectively, after both of their remains were identified through DNA testing.

Costill’s remains were interred in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in a “unknowns” casket among the 106 killed aboard the West Virginia, and in June his brother was informed Costill’s remains were located and positively identified through a DNA exam, according to the Cherry Hill Courier-Post.

Scientists from the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) used dental and anthropological analysis to identify Costill’s remains — and a mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) analysis was performed by scientists from the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System.

Costill’s name, along with others who are still missing from World War II, is recorded on the Walls of the Missing in Honolulu. The DPAA said a rosette will be placed next to his name to indicate he has been accounted for — which they were, in April 2019.

“Scooters are becoming more and more prevalent, so we are seeing more DUIs,” Barnes told KMGH-TV.

9/11 cloud formation shows firefighter walking toward angel

A Florida teacher caught a spectacular moment in the sky on the 18th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks: a cloud formation of what resembles a firefighter running toward an angel.

Matt Snow said he was driving to work on Wednesday when he spotted the clouds.

NEW YORK FIREFIGHTER WHO DIED ON 9/11 GETS SECOND FUNERAL SERVICE AFTER NEW REMAINS RECOVERED

Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, in which Al Qaeda Islamists hijacked airplanes to use as missiles, flying them into New York City’s twin towers and the Pentagon in ArlingtonVa.

A fourth hijacked plane did not hit its intended target and crashed into a field in Somerset County, Pennsylvania after the aircraft’s passengers stormed the cockpit and tried to overpower the militants, an act of heroism which likely saved countless lives.

Of the law enforcement officers and first responders who died on 9/11, 343 of them were firefighters.

“We had a very strong sense we would lose firefighters and that we were in deep trouble,” Peter Hayden, of the Fire Department of New York, told the 9/11 Commission. “But we had estimates of 25,000 to 50,000 civilians, and we had to try to rescue them.”

Where do you buy your lipstick? A little girl in Florida says she bought hers at “Homie Depot.”

In a precious, viral conversation between father and daughter, dad Peter Sowell asks his daughter — who was caught wearing bright red lipstick — where she got the makeup from.

“Did you do anything in the bathroom?” Sowell asks his daughter, who claims she didn’t do anything, before admitting to putting on some “yip-tick.”

“What’d you put on?” the father asks in a video posted to Facebook in August, to which the child replies, while motioning applying lipstick: “Yip-tick on.”

Failing to convince her father, the girl says the lipstick was hers. When asked if she asked permission to put the lipstick on, the girl says she simply asked herself.

The girl, despite her father’s repeated questions, won’t budge when asked whose lipstick she applied. She says it’s her “yip-tick,” and that she bought it from “Homie Depot” — sparking laughter from both father and daughter.

The adorable video, which Sowell told WTVT he filmed after seeing his daughter with her mother’s “expertly applied” lipstick, received more than 93,000 likes and over 485,000 shares on Facebook as of Sunday.

Seattle light rail station shooting leaves 1 dead, 2 wounded; cops release video of suspect

Authorities in Seattle released video on Saturday of a suspect fleeing after a shooting at a downtown light rail station the day before left one man dead and two wounded.

The Seattle Police Department said the shooting happened around 9:20 p.m. at the Westlake Station on a northbound platform for the Link light rail. Officers arriving at the scene found three men with gunshot wounds, two of them with life-threatening injuries.

All three were transported to Harborview Medical Center, where one of the men died. One of the injured men is still listed in critical condition, while the third was discharged Saturday morning, Harborview spokeswoman Susan Gregg told Q13 News.

Witnesses told investigators that the suspect and at least two of the victims may have been in an altercation outside the station and that the shooting did not appear to be random, according to police.

Video posted Saturday afternoon on the department’s Twitter feed shows the suspect trying to conceal the gun near his waist as he runs up the stairs toward an exit at the light rail station.

The shooting caused roads throughout the area and the station to be shuttered as authorities investigated the shooting.

“We had to shut all of our doors. We didn’t know. We just knew there was an active shooter in the area,” Evee Jolly, who works a few blocks away at the popular Pike Place Market, told Q13 News.

“I take the light rail home every night. Had I been in the wrong place at the wrong time, like, that could have been any of us,” she added.

Seattle has seen the number of shootings rise this year, with 15 killed and 55 injured as of early September, according to the Seattle Times. In the same period last year, the city saw 9 killed and 45 injured, according to the newspaper.
