Police in California said they’re looking for the man who was captured on surveillance video allegedly stealing a dog outside a San Francisco market over the weekend.

The dog’s owner, Jenny Seta, posted Saturday on Facebook that her golden retriever named Lily was stolen outside Nijiya Market in Japantown. She said it happened on Saturday around 5 p.m.

“I went into the market for less than ten minutes. She was waiting for me outside the market. She was secured to a post,” Seta told Fox News. “When I got out she was gone and I asked the store to view their surveillance footage and that’s when we saw the video of the man taking her.”

When asked what her initial reaction was, Seta told Fox News, “It was a just a nightmare.”

She added, “My immediate thought was someone stole her and I really thought I would never see her again.”

However, Seta was not giving up.

Seta said she recorded the video from the market’s surveillance system and gave the video to the San Francisco Police Department.  She also posted the video on her Facebook page.

Seta asked people to share the video and to keep an eye out for her dog and people selling golden retrievers.

“I really appreciate all those who are helping with the search; the community, people on Facebook who continue to share the video, the police,” Seta told Fox News.

She said she’d been getting several tips and has been driving to the areas where people reported seeing Lily.

“The owner is heartbroken,” an officer in San Francisco tweeted on Sunday along with the surveillance video.

“Lily is 5 years 11 months and weighs about 60lbs,” Seta wrote on her Facebook page. “She is small and slender for a golden and very loving and affectionate.”

Seta told Fox News she said spent more than eight hours on Sunday walking and driving around San Francisco trying to find her dog.

Florida deputies team up to spruce up cancer patient’s backyard

Deputies in southwest Florida volunteered to help spruce up a cancer patient’s backyard in order to give her a peaceful place to enjoy the outdoors.

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office said Cpl. Dean Peck went to bring flowers to a family friend who is battling an aggressive form of cancer.

Peck left the woman’s house with the feeling that he wanted to do more to raise her spirits.

Pennsylvania woman charged with DUI bites officer during arrest, prosecutors say

New Jersey prosecutors said a Pennsylvania woman has been charged with driving under the influence after she allegedly took off from police on Saturday, attacked multiple officers and even bit one in the leg as she was arrested.

A New Jersey State Park police officer said he’d tried to stop Jessica Hayes, 30, when she was leaving Island Beach State Park because she was going over 70 mph in a 35 mph zone.

The officer said Hayes “ignored commands to pull over and continued out of Island Beach State Park at a high rate of speed,” according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

PHILLY GIRL, 9, CRITICALLY INJURED AFTER LIGHTING FIREWORK INSIDE HOME, REPORT SAYS

Prosecutors said she continued to drive “reaching speeds of 60 miles per hour while weaving in and out of traffic.” The officer decided to stop pursuing her “due to the substantial risk of injury to the public.”

Later, Seaside Park Police were said to have spotted Hayes at a bank and questioned her.

Hayes, of Bensalem, Pennsylvania, a half hour from Philadelphia, allegedly “displayed signs of intoxication” at the bank, and officers conducted field sobriety tests.

However, once police tried to arrest her, she allegedly attacked two Seaside Park officers, causing minor injuries, and bit a New Jersey State Park police sergeant on his leg.

Prosecutors said it seemed the injured officers “will all be OK.”

“We are lucky no one else was injured by her reckless behavior on a very busy Saturday at the Jersey Shore,” Ocean County prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said.

It wasn’t clear whether Hayes had an attorney; a message left for her Saturday by The Associated Press wasn’t immediately returned.

Hayes was being evaluated at a local hospital and will be transported to the Ocean County Jail once she is medically cleared, according to prosecutors.

Hayes also was charged with eluding, aggravated assault, resisting arrest, obstructing the administration of law, and several motor vehicle violations.

Driver seen attacking Florida hotel owner over parking spot, reports say

Police in Florida said they’re looking for a man who was spotted on surveillance video allegedly attacking a hotel owner over a parking spot earlier this year.

The Hollywood Police Department released the video on Friday showing the hotel owner speaking to the suspect, who then started beating the 69-year-old man.

“It’s amazing how people can do that, plus I was a senior citizen,” the owner, who identified himself as Rudy, told WSVN. “Next year I’m going to be 70 years old.”

Rudy, who owns the Shore View Hotel, told the television station that drivers who weren’t guests at the hotel still used the parking lot often.

“People park in our spaces, even though they say ‘tow away’ and everything else,” he said. “They’ll park in our private property and go to the beach.”

Rudy told the station he asked the man not to park in a clearly marked parking spot on the property after he showed up on May 25.

“I asked him very kindly if he would move,” he said, adding that the suspect told him he was not going to move his car.

“He told me that when he comes to Hollywood, he parks wherever the ‘f—’ he wants to,” Rudy told the station.

“When I saw he was that hostile, I turned around and went to get my cellphone out of the office to call the police,” he continued.

Rudy said when he came back out of the office, the suspect was “smoking a joint.”

“He told me that because I was so nice to him, he would go ahead and leave, but after he finished his joint,” Rudy told the station.

“So I told him, ‘You can’t smoke because I’ve got a hotel full of people and kids here. The smell is everywhere. You can’t do that.’”

Rudy said it looked as if the suspect was going to leave, but instead, he attacked.

“Before I know it, he came back behind me, and he sucker-punched me,” Rudy told the media outlet.

The video showed the man punching the hotel owner repeatedly. Rudy was then seen kneeling on the ground trying to protect himself.

“I can’t defend myself like I used to, when I was in my 20s and 30s,” he told the station.

Missouri girl, 7, drowns, mother seriously hurt after car plunges into pond, investigators say

A 7-year-old girl drowned and her mother suffered serious injuries after the car she was driving ended up submerged in a Missouri pond on Saturday, investigators said.

30-year-old Reem Alkhirafi was driving in Warren County, about an hour from St. Louis County, when dust in the road “obstructed” her vision, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol. The dust had been kicked up by the vehicle in front of hers, Fox 2 reported, citing the Metro West Fire Protection District.

In the crash report obtained by Fox News, investigators said Alkhirafi then drove off the road and landed in a pond. Her three children were inside the car at the time as well.

CBP finds $1.7M in methamphetamine inside SUV at US-Mexico border

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers announced Friday they’d made a stunning find inside an SUV at the U.S.-Mexico border: methamphetamines valued at over $1.7 million.

Officers seized the drugs July 1 after they stopped a 42-year-old man from Brownsville, Texas, at the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge, the agency reported.

The estimated total value of the drugs, according to CBP: $1,797,189.92.

Barry threatens Louisiana, Arkansas, downgraded to tropical depression

As fears of flooding, tornadoes, and prolonged power outages increased, Tropical Depression Barry dumped rain as it slowly swept inland through Gulf Coast states Sunday.

Though the system was downgraded to a tropical depression Sunday afternoon and its winds were steadily weakening since it made landfall Saturday in Louisiana, Barry’s rain bands created a flooding and tornado threat stretching from central Louisiana to eastern Mississippi and beyond. Several parishes or counties in both states were under flash flood warnings.

Far from the storm’s center, tornado warnings were issued Sunday morning in both states, though no serious damage or injuries were reported.

TROPICAL STORM BARRY: 3 HURRICANE MYTHS DEBUNKED

Forecasters warned of a continued threat of heavy rains into Monday as the center of the storm trudged inland. The U.S. National Hurricane Center said Sunday parts of south-central Louisiana could still have rainfall totals of up to 12 inches, with isolated pockets of 15 inches.

In Mississippi, forecasters said 8 inches of rain had fallen in parts of Jasper and Jones counties, with several more inches possible. With torrential rain pounding the state’s Interstate 59 corridor, only the headlights of oncoming cars were visible on the highway, and water flowed like a creek in the median.

Barry’s center continued to move through northern Louisiana into Arkansas. The system, which had briefly become a Category 1 hurricane, had its maximum winds fall to 35 mph.

About 112,000 customers in Louisiana and another 5,000 customers in Mississippi were without power Sunday afternoon, according to poweroutage.us.

In Mandeville, north of New Orleans along Lake Pontchartrain, Michael Forbes was picking up limbs and other debris at his home as a drizzle fell. Water got under his house, which is on stilts, but there was no damage and the power never went off.

“I’ll take this any day over something like Katrina,” he said Sunday. “This will clear out, we’ll clean up and we’ll go on.”

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell said Sunday the city was “beyond lucky” that rainfall there fell well short of early predictions of a deluge that could overwhelm the city’s pumping systems.

“We were spared,” she said at a news conference, while noting the city was ready to help nearby parishes hit harder.

In a sign that the city was returning to normal, flights were resuming Sunday at its airport. Restaurants reopened, and people were retrieving their cars from medians and other high ground.

Tropical Storm Barry brings ‘significant flooding threat’ as officials warn of snakes, alligators in water

After making landfall in Louisiana, Tropical Storm Barry continued making its slow trek northward on Sunday across the region, bringing the threat of flash flooding for the lower Mississippi River valley and warnings by officials to stay out of the water due to what may lurk underneath.

The National Hurricane Center said as of 11 a.m. ET that Barry was located about 80 miles south-southeast of Shreveport, moving north at 6 mph with sustained winds of 45 mph. After briefly becoming a Category 1 hurricane on Saturday, the system weakened to a tropical storm, the NHC said.

“Across the remainder of the Lower Mississippi Valley, total rain accumulations of 4 to 8 inches are expected, with isolated maximum amounts of 12 inches,” the NHC said. “This rainfall is expected to lead to dangerous, life-threatening flooding.”

In Mississippi, up to 3 inches of rain had already fallen in the Jackson area before dawn Sunday — and more was on the way. That prompted the National Weather Service to issue a flash flood warning for the captial city of Jackson and some of its suburbs.

President Trump took to Twitter to warn people across the region to be on guard as the day went on.

First responders across the region echoed the president’s sentiments and urged people to stay out of floodwaters for a different reason: other creatures that may lurk below.

The St. Tammany Fire Prevention District #1 posted pictures to Facebook on Saturday of several snakes that fire crews have come across in Slidell, La.

BARRY MAKES LANDFALL IN LOUISIANA AFTER WEAKENING BACK TO TROPICAL STORM

In Livingston Parish, a family and a dog had a very close encounter with an alligator. The Louisiana Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness posted a video to its Twitter account of the close encounter.

“No animals were harmed while this video was recorded,” the agency said.

Late Saturday night, authorities were trying to rescue a family of five who were trapped by high water in the south Louisiana town of Franklin, according to KTBS-TV. The National Guard had to halt its initial rescue mission because waters were too high to safely reach the family’s home. Franklin is about 40 miles southeast of Lafayette.

When officials eventually got to the home, the people living there said they didn’t need to be rescued, officials told the television station.

“We got to a spot where we were starting to float a little bit and I wasn’t comfortable with that so we stopped a bit,” Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office Dep. Steve Dooley told KTBS. “We didn’t have very far to go so we decided to drive the rest of the way. We made it to the house, and they just didn’t want to come out.”

The deputies told KTBS that floodwaters in the area dropped significantly throughout the evening.

TROPICAL STORM BARRY: SAFETY TIPS FOR PETS

The storm’s first wave had not inundated New Orleans as feared, with the city experiencing moderate rain Saturday. Forecasters downgraded rainfall estimates for the city through Sunday to between 2 to 4 inches. Earlier forecasts of quadruple that amount had raised concerns that water pumps strengthened after Hurricane Katrina would be overwhelmed.

None of the main levees on the Mississippi River failed or were breached, and they were expected to hold up through the storm, Gov. John Bel Edwards said. But a levee in Terrebonne Parish was overtopped by water for part of the day, officials said. Video also showed water getting over a second levee in Plaquemines Parish, where fingers of land extend deep into the Gulf of Mexico.

“The levees did do really well along the Mississippi River but there’s all those others rivers, it’s a very wet area, there’s a lot of moisture there, a lot of rivers that are going to continue to rise. so we have a long ways to go with this,” Fox News Chief Meteorologist Rick Reichmuth said on “FOX & friends.”

In other parts of Louisiana on Saturday, Barry flooded highways, forced people to scramble to rooftops and dumped heavy rain as it made landfall near Intracoastal City, about 160 miles west of New Orleans. Downpours also lashed coastal Alabama and Mississippi.

In Mandeville, a city on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain across from New Orleans, storm surge and choppy waters sent waves pushing over the seawall and into nearby communities. Elsewhere, Coast Guard helicopters rescued a dozen people and two pets from flooded areas of Terrebonne Parish, south of New Orleans, some of them from rooftops, a spokeswoman said.

More than 140,000 customers in Louisiana and another more than 4,000 customers in Mississippi were without power early Sunday, according to poweroutage.us.

Barry was expected to continue weakening and become a tropical depression Sunday, moving over Arkansas on Sunday night and Monday. But forecasts showed the storm on a path toward Chicago that would swell the Mississippi River basin.

Reichmuth said on “FOX & friends” that another thing to keep in mind is that the storm took place at earlier part of the hurricane season as the Mississippi River has been above flood stage for over 200 days due to all the moisture from the winter and spring still traveling downriver. The threat for flooding in the region could still persist when the season ramps up in August and September.

“If we have a storm again, a stronger storm into August or September, we could talk about this same situation,” he said.
