Florida deputies nab fugitive carjacking suspect as he’s livestreaming on Instagram

Florida deputies say they apprehended a fugitive carjacking suspect as he was livestreaming on Instagram.

Kevin Gaines, 20, was captured at his home Thursday night after six weeks on the lam, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies released body cam video showing them watching Gaines’ live on Instagram, Fox 35 Orlando reported Saturday.

“In watching the video, Deputy Billy Leven could tell Gaines was inside the house,” the sheriff’s office said on Facebook. “When he pointed his spotlight into the window, Deputy Leven could see the light show up in the live Instagram video shortly before it abruptly ended.”

“Get to the house, he just shut his live off and said the cops are here,” a deputy is heard saying in the video.

During the video, a woman is heard saying to the deputies surrounding the house that Gaines wasn’t inside.

Gaines was wanted on an outstanding warrant stemming from a December 2018 arrest for carjacking.

He was also wanted for another outstanding warrant in a separate case in which he was accused of riddling a car with bullets from an AR-15 style rifle. That incident took place at a skating rink and deputies said there were 300 to 400 people there at the time.

Texas boy sets front yard on fire after getting magnifying glass for Christmas, family says

Christmas went up in flames for a family in Texas, after a 12-year-old boy decided to use a magnifying glass for something other than reading.

Interior designer Nissa-Lynn Parson shared on Facebook how her family’s Christmas Day was “memorable to say the least” after her 12-year-old son used the magnifying glass he received as a present to try to light things on fire.

“Cayden asked for a magnifying glass for Christmas,” Parson said in a video posted to Facebook. “We thought, ‘Oh, he wants to magnify something.’ No, he wanted to see if he can make fire with it, and they did.”

PENNSYLVANIA WOMAN WHO LIT MOTOR HOME ON FIRE WHILE WEARING ‘ACT CRAZY’ SHIRT ARRESTED, POLICE SAY

Cayden’s father, Justin Parson, told FOX4 that on Christmas morning when his son opened the magnifying glass he reacted with, “Yay, magnifying glass.”

“The other son in the background, ‘Yay, now we can light stuff on fire.’ And we’re like, oh dear,’” Justin Parson told the television station.

On a sunny Christmas Day, the 12-year-old and his two brothers went out to the driveway and burned a couple of holes in some newspaper. But after one of them dropped the now-burning paper, the blaze ended up spreading to the front yard of their home in the Dallas suburb of McKinney.

“Everything was under control until the boys came running into the house telling us that a corner of the lawn was on fire and the Christmas lights were melting!” Parson wrote. “Justin and I rushed outside to see the entire front lawn turning black!”

The fire quickly spread, generating a cloud of smoke within minutes that one of the couple’s sons said was “as high as the tree.”

Family members rushed to get buckets of water and blankets to smother the flames while also turning the sprinklers on to prevent the flames from spreading to their neighbor’s home.

“What a sight to see – a bunch of people running around crazy trying to put a front lawn fire out while wearing matching Christmas jammies!” Parson wrote on Facebook.

The blaze ended up scorching the front yard of the family home, in addition to destroying some of the Christmas lights out front. The family, however, is grateful that no major damage or injuries resulted from the blaze.

Nissa-Lynn Parson said after the incident on Christmas Day, the magnifying glass is now going to be strictly used in non-flammable situations.

“No burning, like, it is in house. I want it like only for reading or words,” she told FOX4, adding that her son now has some hard work of his own ahead

“They will definitely have yard work to do once spring comes,” she said Saturday.

It appears that Cayden also learned a valuable lesson after the incident.

“I shouldn’t start any more fires,” he told FOX4.

A 60-year-old New York City man died in a hospital Friday, three days after unidentified suspect brutally beat him, demanding money while he walked down a Bronx street early Christmas Eve morning,  police said Saturday.

Six muggers punched, kicked and stomped on Juan Fresnada as he tried to keep his partner, Byron Caceres, 29, safe from the attackers who robbed him of $1, ABC News reported.

“My husband tried to defend me,” Caceres told The New York Post. “The guy had his fist ready like he was ready to attack me. My husband said, ‘Don’t you get close to him.’”

Vietnam veteran and Florida resident Albert Septien achieved his dying wish of making a snow angel after he was diagnosed with stage four melanoma, following his exposure to Agent Orange during his service in the Army.

Septien’s cousin, Joe Maestre, asked him what he wanted for Christmas this year following his cancer diagnosis. When Septien said he wanted to make a snow angel, Maestre said: “Well, you got it.”

On Christmas Eve in Tampa, crews worked all morning to shred bags of ice into eight tons of snow so Septien could live out his dream, and the display brought him to tears.

“I don’t think there are words to explain it,” Maestre said. “The look on his face, the feeling in his heart, the tears that he had. This has been the most wonderful day in the last year.”

Septien, who was diagnosed in May, served in Vietnam for one year and worked to recover bodies after the Tet Offensive ended in 1968, according to Fox 13.

“This year has been hell because I have never been sick in my life and now here I am,” he said.

Septien was born in Cuba and was raised in Connecticut and New York. He grew up with snow as a child but has been without it for years, following his move down south.

He also said the snow helped soothe the burning sensation he gets from the cancer treatments.

“When I laid down in that snow, it felt really good,” Septien added.

Washington man accused of killing wife purportedly confessed to murder in tweets to NRA, Trump

A Washington state man accused of killing his wife the day after Christmas apparently confessed to the shooting in tweets to the NRA, President Trump, and Sen. Mitch McConnell.

A Twitter account purportedly owned by Kevin Heimsoth – a Bellingham man who is the main suspect in the shooting death of his wife Lynn Heimsoth – sent a series of four reply tweets shorting after 3 a.m. PT on Dec. 26 stating that the user shot and killed his “whole family.”

WASHINGTON WOMAN, 85, KILLED ROOMATE, SHOT ANOTHER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO KILL HERSELF: POLICE

In a reply to the NRA’s Merry Christmas tweet, the account wrote: “Guns don’t kill people, people do.”

“Guns just make it a lot easier. AR-15 makes it super easy,” the post continued. “I jist (sic) killed my whole family, and i couldnt have done it without a gun! I’m too much of a coward, a knife would have been waaay too hard. So, thanks to everyone at the NRA.”

Similar tweets were also sent as replies to Trump’s personal and presidential accounts as well as to McConnell’s account.

In a subsequent tweet, the user then thanks McConnell for making it possible and then requested a welfare check at an address on Marine Drive in Bellingham.

The rest of the account appeared to just be political commentary replying to President Trump.

Fox News’ has not independently verified that the Twitter account belongs to Kevin Heimsoth. As of Saturday morning, the tweets are still up.

However, the Bellingham Herald reported the account is associated with email accounts and phone numbers that belong to him and the account associated with Lynn Heimsoth followed it.

Lynn Heimsoth, 58, was shot and killed in her home. Her husband Kevin Heimsoth is the main suspect in her death.

Whatcom County Sheriff Bill Elfo said deputies were called to a home on the 900 block of Marine Drive around 10:28 a.m. Dec. 26 for a report of a murder-suicide.

Inside, they found a 58-year-old woman dead from a gunshot wound. The woman’s 56-year-old husband was also found inside the apartment with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The pair were later identified as the Heimsoths.

As of Friday, Kevin Heimsoth remained hospitalized in critical condition.

“This horrendous crime impacted many in our community,” Elfo told the Bellingham Herald. “While our investigation has not yet revealed any facts that would indicate a propensity for domestic violence prior to the murder, anyone with information that might be helpful to our investigation and review of this incident is requested to contact the Sheriff’s Office. As this case illustrates, the dynamics of domestic violence can escalate and lead to extreme violence.”

Deputies also found Lynn Heimsoth’s therapy dog, Sukha, and a cat, both dead from gunshot wounds, the Bellingham Herald reported.

Lynn Heimsoth was the principal at Sunnyland Elementary in Bellingham since July 2017.

The school’s superintendent said in a statement Thursday that they are “heartbroken” by her death.

“Her death is a profound loss to our Sunnyland community, our school district and to our extended community,” Bellingham Public Schools Superintendent Greg Baker said. “Lynn was a passionate, equity-driven instructional leader.
