Married man arrested in Pennsylvania after saying he lured girlfriend to Las Vegas desert, killed her: police

A married man who may have been leading a double life was arrested on Friday in connection to a missing Pennsylvania woman after telling police he lured her on a cross-country trip to Las Vegas and killed her in the desert, investigators said.

John Matthew Chapman, 39, allegedly confessed to murdering 33-year-old Jamie Rae Feden, who was last seen on Sept. 15, but so far has not been charged with homicide as investigators work to locate Feden’s body, the Bethel Park Police Department said. He is facing several charges, including kidnapping.

Chapman convinced Feden to take a cross-country trip with him from Pennsylvania to Las Vegas to look at homes in late September, WPXI-TV reported, citing court documents.

Around Sept. 25, he lured Feden out to the desert under the guise of a photoshoot, according to the document. He allegedly told police he used zip ties to bind Feden’s hands and feet and tied her to a signpost before covering her mouth and nose with duct tape and suffocating her.

He removed the zip ties, tape and Feden’s clothing before leaving her body near the signpost and driving back to Pennsylvania, according to the document.

Feden was just over 4 feet tall and weighed 75 pounds, police said. She reportedly suffered from a rare congenital condition known as VATER syndrome.

While Feden was missing, police said Chapman sent her family messages on Facebook to cover up the disappearance and murder.

After he was taken into custody Friday, Chapman made a call from the police station to his wife Maureen. She told WPXI her husband said: “I killed her because I had to.”

She said her husband was living a “double life” after he told the family he was going to Las Vegas on a work trip.

Chapman was described as Feden’s boyfriend in a criminal complaint obtained by Pittsburgh station KDKA-TV. The complaint describes their relationship as “tumultuous.”

The body of an unidentified woman believed to be Feden was found on Oct. 5, authorities said. Police were working to positively identify the remains.

If Chapman is charged with homicide, he will likely be extradited to Las Vegas, police said.

Texas woman arrested after 3 pit bulls attack 76-year-old woman in Dallas

A woman in Texas was arrested after a 76-year-old woman was critically injured Friday morning when she was mauled by three pit bulls that dug under a fence and escaped in a Dallas neighborhood, according to officials.

The Dallas Police Department said in a news release the incident happened around 11:20 a.m. when the 76-year-old woman was walking in Beckley Heights Park and encountered three pit bulls who “attacked and mauled” her, causing her “serious bodily injury.”

Two men who witnessed the brutal attack and attempted to pry the dogs off the woman said the animals were relentless, and one of them even had to resort to using his pickup truck to stop the attack.

“That’s what probably busted the dog’s head,” Michael Jensen, who hit the dogs with his truck, told FOX4. “And I ran him over twice, and it didn’t do nothing twice.”

Jensen’s cousin, Shawn, told FOX4 he believes the woman would have died at the park if the pair didn’t intervene by using a pole and a truck. Items belonging to the 76-year-old woman were scattered around the area after the violent attack.

“They were coming after me,” he told FOX4. “So I started backtracking my way back, backing up easily. They went full force. They got off of her and was checking me out.”

When police officers arrived at the scene, the dogs were located in the yard of a home on Starkey Street and cops contacted the resident, who told them the animals belong there.

“It appears that the dogs dug under the fence and escaped before attacking the victim,” police said.

The dogs were seized by Dallas Animal Services, while detectives obtained a warrant for the arrest of the resident, 44-year-old Martha Yescas-Lira. Yescas-Lira was charged with attack by dog causing serious bodily injury, which is a third-degree felony. The 44-year-old was transported to Dallas County Jail.

Residents said the neighborhood has a loose dog problem, and children could have gotten hurt if the Jensens didn’t step in to help the woman.

Missing Illinois teenager was last seen leaving school in Wisconsin, police say

Authorities in northern Illinois are searching for a missing teenage girl who was last seen leaving her high school in neighboring Wisconsin on Wednesday, according to officials.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that 16-year-old Emma Roberts was last seen leaving school in Salem, Wis. at the end of the school day on Wednesday. Roberts’ family had recently moved across the state line into unincorporated Antioch but kept her enrolled at Central High School District of Westosha.

“At this time Sheriff’s Detectives believe Emma was given a ride home from school, where she packed a bag at her unincorporated Antioch home and left again before her family arrived home,” the sheriff’s office said. “As Emma packed a change of clothes, it is unknown what she is currently wearing.”

Al Sharpton gets $1M in pay from his own charity, tax filings show

He’s the million-dollar minister.

The Rev. Al Sharpton raked in $1,046,948 from his own charity last year, according to National Action Network’s latest tax filings obtained by The Post.

Sharpton got a $324,000 salary — 32% higher than his 2017 pay — in addition to a $159,596 bonus and $563,352 in “other compensation.”

TRUMP SLAMS AL SHARPTON, A ONETIME PAL WITH AN INFLAMMATORY PAST

The Harlem-based nonprofit — which Sharpton controls as president and CEO — said the extra cash was to make up for the years from 2004 to 2017 when he didn’t get his full pay.

NAN said it hired an executive compensation firm that determined the good reverend was owed $1.252 million — but he was generously willing to take $500,000 less.

Sharpton and the nonprofit’s board also agreed “he has now been fully compensated for all the years he was underpaid and received no bonus,” the NAN statement said.

The sharp-dressing, silver-tongued preacher defended the windfall before taking the stage for his weekly rally at NAN’s House of Justice in Harlem, an event where attendees throw cash in the collection bucket at the reverend’s behest.

“Fifteen years, you are talking about since 2004 when I came back after running for president,” he said. “For anybody else it would be laughable.”

He said he also deserved the 2018 raise.

“It’s a six-day-a-week job and several hours a day and when [the compensation firm] compared it to other companies, other nonprofits, that’s the salary that they would get,” he said.

The firebrand activist and MSNBC host was not exactly earning minimum wage in recent years. The last year he went without a salary was 2008, and he has made well into the six figures every year since, tax documents show.

He certainly wasn’t coveting his neighbor’s paycheck in 2017, when his NAN salary came to $244,661, or the year before, when he was paid $250,000 plus a $437,555 bonus. NAN justified the bonus at the time saying it was designed to make up for a lack of full compensation, including no retirement or benefits packages over the years.

The nonprofit also noted in 2016 that Sharpton’s average yearly pay of $283,543 from 2007 through 2016 fell within the competitive range of those who held similar positions.

in 2014, Sharpton got much more than the average pay — $348,244 plus a $64,400 bonus, tax filings show.

The holy man’s mammon really raised eyebrows last year when NAN’s filing revealed he had sold the rights to his life story to his own charity for $531,000. The organization contended the purchase would provide a revenue stream because it could turn around and sell the rights.

NAN at the time said an unnamed “executive committee independently approved” the deal, leading one expert to question how the independence was achieved.

“In this case, it’s really difficult because of his role in the organization and just because of his overall influence,” Linda Sugin, a Fordham University Law School professor and associate dean said at the time.

Sharpton said Saturday that NAN did sell the rights for a documentary that filmed the night of his 65th birthday gala at the New York Public Library, an event hosted by Samuel L. Jackson and Spike Lee. But he said he hadn’t received any cash yet.

“They have already made a profit on that off the birthday,” he said.

NAN took in $7.3 million in donations last year, up $1 million from the previous year. NAN paid off years of accumulated tax debt in 2014.

Sharpton has been paying down millions in his own personal federal and state tax liens. In June, he finally paid off his personal tax debt to the state, which last year stood at $95,031.21. He still owes $698,470.99 in back taxes for three of his companies, according to the state Tax Department.

Father arrested after son, 5, brings heroin to school, says tasting it turns him into Spider-Man

A Massachusetts father was arrested and charged Friday after his 5-year-old son allegedly brought a bag of heroin to kindergarten and told his teacher he turns into Spider-Man when he tastes it.

Benny Garcia, 29, pleaded not guilty to charges of drug possession and reckless endangerment of a child.

The boy showed off a plastic bag stamped with the image of Spider-Man that contained a powdery substance, Hampden County Assistant District Attorney Matthew Green said in court, according to the Daily Hampshire Gazette. The boy told his teacher that he turns into the superhero when he tastes the powder. The boy also allegedly said he got the bag from the living room of his home.

Holyoke police officers were called to the school around 11 a.m. Thursday. The boy was taken to a local hospital and later released. Police contacted the boy’s mother, who gave permission for police to search her apartment. There they found Garcia sleeping on a bed with other bags of white powder underneath him. As he was handcuffed, other bags fell from his body, according to police.

Court documents stated that police found over 200 bags of heroin and cocaine on Garcia. When officers told Garcia about the situation with his son at school, he reportedly became “very emotional.”

The boy and another infant from the family were taken into state custody.

Garcia will be held without bail until his hearing scheduled for Nov. 20.

Arrests of 16 Marines at Camp Pendleton for human smuggling ruled unlawful by judge: reports

A military judge has ruled the arrests of 16 U.S. Marines and accused of human smuggling during a Camp Pendleton Battalion formation was unlawful and a violation of their rights, according to reports.

Video of the July mass arrest surfaced last week. The Marines were hauled out of the formation and accused of participating in a scheme to smuggle illegal immigrants into the U.S. from Mexico, according to reports.

“It sends a signal to the government, I’m not going to tolerate, and we should not tolerate, a command basically imposing the verdict before the court is ever held,” Bethany Payton-O’Brien, an attorney for one of the accused Marines told CBS 8 San Diego.

It’s unclear, however, what impact the judge’s ruling will have on the charges against the Marines, the station reported. Charges against three of the 16 Marines were eventually dismissed by prosecutors.

The arrests were witnessed by 800 members of the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, according to reports.

Payton-O’Brien said the arrests were an attempt by commanders to exert unlawful command influence over the case, CBS 8 reported.

“The public humiliation of my client and others in the case was wrong. It was illegal and the Marine Corps’ attempt to try to influence the outcome of this case and poison the jury pool,” she said.

The San Diego Union-Tribune quoted the judge who issued the ruling, Col. Stephen Keane, as rejecting a prosecution argument that the arrests were done during the battalion formation to ensure safety because some of the Marines were suspected of weapons offenses.

The alleged gunman of a shooting at a high school football game in New Jersey on Friday night that seriously injured two and sent fans and players running for their lives has been arrested, prosecutors said on Saturday.

Alvin Wyatt, 31, of Atlantic City was charged with three counts of attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, according to the Atlantic County prosecutor, Damon G. Tyner.

Four other men were charged with various weapons offenses following the shooting, which occurred in Pleasantville, near Atlantic City.

NEW JERSEY HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL SHOOTING LEAVES AT LEAST 2 WOUNDED

Michael Mack and Shahid Dixon, both 27, Tyrell Dorn, 28, and Vance Golden, 26, were all charged with various weapons offenses. Dixon is also facing charges of eluding police, according to the prosecutor.

The shooting occurred at 8:29 p.m. during the third quarter of a playoff game between the Camden Panthers and Pleasantville Greyhounds.

It left a 10-year-old boy in critical condition who was airlifted to a Philadelphia hospital, while a 27-year-old man remains in the hospital in stable condition after undergoing surgery. A 15-year-old boy was treated for a small wound after a bullet grazed him.

The stands were packed to watch the Greyhounds — who won their first division title in 43 years this season. Panicked spectators who had been watched the game were seen knocking down a fence to escape the gunfire.

Parents were forced to hold their babies and young children tight during the chaotic scene, so they wouldn’t be trampled by the panicked crowd, according to Jonathan Diego, who was at the game on Friday.

“It was mayhem, literally people coming in waves running away,” said Diego, who was part of a 2005 Pleasantville youth football game where three people were shot and wounded.

He and a friend said they tried to give first aid to the young boy who was wounded.

“He applied pressure to the little boy’s wounds on his neck, trying to slow down the bleeding until the ambulance could come up,” Diego said.

Spectators and even the referees officiating the game were seen laying flat on the field to avoid getting hit by the gunfire.

Camden football coach Dwayne Savage also gave his account on what happened.

“They were punting the ball to us, and the ball was rolling on the ground when we heard the gunshots from the home stands,” Savage told the Philadelphia Inquirer. “Players started running off the field. I jumped onto the ground with some other coaches and players. We got everyone to the bus as soon as we could, and we left. We heard one child and one adult were injured.”

After the shooting, the suspects allegedly fled the scene in a vehicle from the Absecon police department into Atlantic City. Police also recovered a firearm from the scene, the prosecutor’s office said.

“I want to thank the Pleasantville Police Department and the scores of off duty emergency personnel that assisted the victims and helped law enforcement promptly identify and locate those responsible for causing mayhem at the Pleasantville High School football game,” Tyner said. “The venue simply presented an opportunity for criminals to pursue their own form of petty vengeance against one another. Our community will not be held hostage by a few idiots intent on jeopardizing our safety and the safety of our children.”
