Former HGTV host Christopher Dionne to serve 3 years in prison for molesting 10-year-old girl

Former HGTV host Christopher Dionne will serve three years in prison after he was convicted of molesting a 10-year-old girl in his Connecticut home, according to court records. He was also sentenced to 10 years probation by a judge on Wednesday.

Dionne, 37, of Old Lyme, Conn., was found guilty of risk of injury to a minor and fourth-degree sexual assault in October.

FORMER HGTV HOST FOUND GUILTY OF MOLESTING DAUGHTER’S 10-YEAR-OLD BEST FRIEND: REPORT

Dionne appeared on a pilot episode of HGTV’s “Family Flip.” His victim, now 12, testified during the trial that she was best friends with his daughter, and was sleeping over their house at the time of the assault.

Dionne has maintained his innocence and will likely file an appeal, The Day in Connecticut reported.

According to People, the minor claimed in court that she woke up to Dionne inappropriately touching her by placing his hand against her buttocks inside her pajamas.

FORMER ‘YOUNG AND RESTLESS’ ACTOR COREY SLIGH FOUND GUILTY OF CHILD MOLESTATION

Dionne’s victim said she was molested twice while his two children — then a 14-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter — were sleeping in the same room, the outlet reported. The victim said Dionne later reached his hand under her bra, jiggled her chest and allegedly took a photo of her on his phone.

The minor, according to the outlet, claimed Dionne asked the girl if she wanted to see his genitals, asking her, “Are you a big girl or a little girl?” The victim also claimed he told her, “If you tell your mom, I’ll go to jail and (my daughter) won’t have a daddy.”

In 2017, Dionne was expected to begin production of a new show titled “House Rescue” on A&E. But the network previously told NBC Connecticut that it had suspended production.

In a previous statement to Fox News on Friday, a rep for A&E said: “He was never a host on the channel and nothing he filmed was ever aired.”

Dionne’s wife has since moved and is planning to file for divorce, reported The Day.

She shared a photo on Instagram of herself with her two children, along with a positive message after the sentencing.

“So we’re gonna heal. And we’re gonna start anew,” Dionne’s wife wrote.

Bill Cosby loses sexual assault conviction appeal

Bill Cosby’s bid to overturn his sexual assault conviction over issues including the trial judge’s decision to let five other accusers testify was rejected by a Pennsylvania appeals court on Tuesday.

The Superior Court ruling was being closely watched because Cosby was the first celebrity tried and convicted in the #MeToo era. The same issue was hard-fought in pretrial hearings before movie mogul Harvey Weinstein’s sexual assault trial.

In his appeal, Cosby’s lawyers said the suburban Philadelphia judge had improperly allowed the five women to testify at last year’s retrial although he’d let just one woman testify at the first trial in 2017.

BILL COSBY SHOWS NO REMORSE IN FIRST INTERVIEW FROM PRISON: ‘IT’S ALL A SETUP’

But the Superior Court said Pennsylvania law allows the testimony if it shows Cosby had a “signature” pattern of drugging and molesting women.

“Here, the (prior bad act) evidence established appellant’s unique sexual assault playbook,” the court said, noting that “no two events will ever be identical.”

The court went on to say that the similarities were no accident.

“Not only did the (prior bad act) evidence tend to establish a predictable pattern of criminal sexual behavior unique to appellant, it simultaneously tended to undermine any claim that appellant was unaware of or mistaken about victim’s failure to consent to the sexual contact that formed the basis of the aggravated indecent assault charges,” the panel said in its ruling.

CUBA GOODING JR. FACES SEVEN MORE SEXUAL MISCONDUCT ACCUSATIONS

Lawyers for Cosby had argued eight issues on appeal, including the judge’s decision to let prosecutors use portions of a deposition he gave in the accuser’s related civil suit. His lawyers also argued that he had a binding promise from a former prosecutor that he would never be charged in the case and could testify freely at a deposition in accuser Andrea Constand’s related lawsuit.

The appeals court rejected those arguments and upheld the judge’s classification of Cosby as a sexually violent predator.

Cosby, 82, can now ask the state Supreme Court to consider his appeal.

He has been serving a three- to 10-year prison term for the 2004 encounter at his suburban Philadelphia home, which he deemed consensual.

He was arrested a decade later, after a federal judge unsealed portions of the deposition at the request of The Associated Press and new prosecutors reopened the criminal case.

The Superior Court panel, in arguments in Harrisburg in August, asked why Cosby’s lawyers didn’t get a written immunity agreement and have it approved by a judge, instead of relying on an oral promise.

“This is not a low-budget operation we were operating here. They had an unlimited budget,” said Superior Court Judge John T. Bender, who questioned whether any court would have approved the deal.

Judge Steven O’Neill’s decision to let the other accusers testify came after more than 60 women accused Cosby of sexual misconduct. Prosecutors asked to call 19 of them. Superior Court Judge John Bender appeared to agree with O’Neill’s logic in letting some take the stand.

BRITNEY SPEARS PLANS TO FIGHT FOR INCREASED CUSTODY OF SONS IN COURT NEXT YEAR: REPORT

“The reality of it is, he gives them drugs and then he sexually assaults them. And in four out of the five, those were in mentor situations,” Bender said.

Kristen L. Weisenberger, representing Cosby, said one of the women wasn’t even sure she was sexually assaulted. However, prosecutors said, that’s how Cosby planned it.

O’Neill had allowed just one other accuser at Cosby’s first trial in 2017, when the jury deadlocked. Cosby’s lawyers called his later decision to let more women testify arbitrary and prejudicial.

The long-married Cosby, once beloved as “America’s Dad” for his TV role as Dr. Cliff Huxtable on the hugely popular sitcom “The Cosby Show,” has acknowledged having sexual contact with a string of younger women, many of whom came to him for career advice and took alcohol or pills he offered them.

He and his lawyers and agents have suggested that many of the accusers were gold diggers seeking money or fame. He told a news outlet in November that he expects to serve the maximum 10-year sentence if he loses the appeal, because he would never express remorse to the parole board.

Cosby agreed to pay Constand, a former Temple University basketball team manager, about $3.4 million to settle her lawsuit. His insurance company, following his conviction, settled at least nine other defamation lawsuits filed by accusers for undisclosed sums.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

‘Richard Jewell’ backlash leads Atlanta newspaper to demand disclaimer on film’s portrayal of reporter

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is asking for a Warner Bros. disclaimer statement in its new film “Richard Jewell,” over its portrayal of a real-life journalist.

The film depicted the search for the identity of the culprit behind the 1996 Centennial Olympic Park bombing, including how the reporter, Kathy Scruggs, helped uncover the truth.

In the film, Scruggs, who has since died, was portrayed by Olivia Wilde as a woman who traded sex for news tips — a detail that newspaper executives said “veers from reality.”

‘RICHARD JEWELL’ HAS SERIOUS INACCURACIES, ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION EDITOR SAYS

The newspaper sent a letter to Warner Bros., director Clint Eastwood and screenwriter Billy Ray, outlining its demands.

“We hereby demand that you immediately issue a statement publicly acknowledging that some events were imagined for dramatic purposes and artistic license and dramatization were used in the film’s portrayal of events and characters,” the letter read. “We further demand that you add a prominent disclaimer to the film to that effect.”

Journal-Constitution editor Kevin G. Riley told Variety: “I think this letter makes it clear how seriously we take the misrepresentation of our reporters’ actions and of the actions of the newspaper during that time. We have been clear about how disturbed we are in the film’s use of a Hollywood trope about reporters… and how it misrepresents how seriously journalists concern themselves with reporting accurately and ethically.”

Additionally, the paper published a piece headlined “The Ballad of Kathy Scruggs” in November, which featured testimonies to the portrayal’s falsehood from people who knew Scruggs personally.

In the article, friends called her “the real deal,” and said that the film’s portrayal was “complete horses–t” and “just not true.”

The letter also claimed that the paper’s involvement in the exoneration of suspect Richard Jewell was not depicted correctly.

“The film literally makes things up and adds to misunderstandings about how serious news organizations work,” Riley told Variety. “It’s ironic that the film commits the same sins that it accuses the media of committing.”

In a statement to Fox News, a spokesperson for Warner Bros. said that “the film is based on a wide range of highly credible source material.”

Paul Walter Hauser stars as Richard Jewell, a security guard investigated in connection with the Centennial Olympic Park bombing in 1996.

“There is no disputing that Richard Jewell was an innocent man whose reputation and life were shredded by a miscarriage of justice,” the statement continued. “It is unfortunate and the ultimate irony that the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, having been a part of the rush to judgment of Richard Jewell, is now trying to malign our filmmakers and cast. ‘Richard Jewell’ focuses on the real victim, seeks to tell his story, confirm his innocence and restore his name.  The (Journal-Constitution’s) claims are baseless and we will vigorously defend against them.”

Additionally, the spokesperson pointed out that a disclaimer will be visible at the end of the film, as is standard for fact-based stories, reading: “The film is based on actual historical events. Dialogue and certain events and characters contained in the film were created for the purposes of dramatization.”

While his cause of death has yet to be released, TMZ posted photos of suitcases allegedly taken from the young rapper’s jet, claiming they were loaded with 7 pounds of marijuana. The outlet also claimed to have been told by law enforcement sources that a bottle of codeine was located on the aircraft.

Just one hour before the young rapper was confirmed dead, two of his security guards were arrested at the Chicago Midway airport on gun charges, Fox News confirmed.

Christopher Long, 36, of Buena Park, Calif., was arrested at approximately 2 a.m. with one misdemeanor count of carrying and possessing a firearm in the first degree. The second guard arrested was Henry Dean, 27, of Chicago, who was charged with one count of carrying a concealed firearm in an airport and a second count of sale and/or possession of a high capacity magazine and metal piercing bullets.

Princess Beatrice, one of Prince Andrew‘s daughters, reportedly canceled her engagement party in light of recent events surrounding her father’s involvement with Jeffrey Epstein.

The Daily Mail reported that the event, slated for Dec. 18 in London, has been canceled over fear of the paparazzi swarming Andrew, 59, who has been accused of sexually assaulting a minor.

A source told the outlet that rather than a large party, Beatrice, 31, and her fiancé, property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 36, will have a small gathering at a friend’s apartment to celebrate their upcoming marriage. The couple got engaged this past September.

“Bea has had to change the date of her engagement party at the Chiltern Firehouse because of fears there will be too many photographers outside looking for (Andrew),” a source told the website. “But the venue choice caused alarm among pals concerned it was far too high-profile given the sensitive time her family is going through.”

The reported party cancelation came weeks after Andrew announced he’d “step back” from public duties.

“It has become clear to me over the last few days that the circumstances relating to my former association with Jeffrey Epstein has become a major disruption to my family’s work and the valuable work going on in the many organizations and charities that I am proud to support,” a statement from the prince said.

Rosie O’Donnell does not think Stanford Law Professor Pamela Karlan owed the First Family an apology after she made a joke about the president’s son at a House Judiciary Committee impeachment hearing this week.

O’Donnell, 58, said Karlan’s words were “taken out of context.” Karlan initially received backlash on Wednesday for using Barron Trump’s first name as an example while discussing the Constitution.

Karlan said on Wednesday: “The Constitution says there can be no titles of nobility, so while the president can name his son Barron, he can’t make him a baron.”

O’Donnell defended the professor, saying to TMZ: “I don’t think that she did anything wrong. She was trying to say that he’s not a king. You could have a child named Barron but he can’t make him a baron.

In November, Timberlake and his “Palmer” co-star Alisha Wainwright, 30, were spotted holding hands in a New Orleans bar, in photos obtained by The Sun, during an outing with friends.

The “Can’t Stop the Feeling” crooner took to social media on Wednesday to publicly apologize to his wife of seven years for his actions and said “nothing happened” between him and Wainwright.

A second insider close to Biel told People that the couple, who are parents to 4-year-old son Silas, will “work through this.”

“It was good that he apologized publicly but obviously the real work he is doing is in private and hopefully this was just a bad drunken night of this type of behavior,” the source said.

In his apology on Wednesday, Timberlake addressed the incident, saying: “I stay away from gossip as much as I can, but for my family, I feel it is important to address recent rumors that are hurting the people I love.”

“A few weeks ago I displayed a strong lapse in judgment — but let me be clear — nothing happened between me and my co-star,” he continued. “I drank way too much that night and I regret my behavior. I should have known better.”

Timberlake said: “This is not the example I want to set for my son. I apologize to my amazing wife and family for putting them through such an embarrassing situation, and I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be.

Of his decision to apologize publicly, a source told E! News: “He feels terrible that this happened and for putting Jessica through the public scrutiny. He knows she doesn’t deserve any of this and that he messed up.”

The insider said Timberlake “hopes by addressing what happened and apologizing to her publicly that they can put this behind them and start to move on.

“Justin feels like the story isn’t dying and hopes this will be the end of it. He always tries to keep his private life private, but he knows he made a big mistake in public and now has to own up to it,” the source added.

In addition to photos showing Palmer and TImerlake holding hands, cameras also caught the actress placing her hand on Timberlake’s knee.

At the time, sources told The Sun that Timberlake appeared to have had a lot to drink and was unsteady on his feet.

However, sources told Us Weekly that nothing should be made of the connection.

An insider told the magazine that Timberlake and Wainwright were part of a gathering of friends, as well as cast and crew members, at the popular Absinthe House and were seated on a balcony overlooking the famed Bourbon Street when cameras caught the incident.

“Nothing remotely romantic is going on with Justin and Alisha,” a source said of the outing. “The whole cast is shooting out there and likes to hang out together. They were very much in public and nothing inappropriate was happening.”

A second insider added: “They are like brother and sister. They are definitely not hooking up. She has been dating an actor who lives in L.A.”

Meanwhile, in a statement to Entertainment Tonight, Wainwright’s rep said: “There is no validity to this speculation. They are working on a project together.”

In the film they’re shooting, titled “Palmer,” Timberlake plays Eddie Palmer, a former high school football star who returns to his hometown following a prison stint.

R. Kelly has been ordered to stand trial next September in one of his four sexual abuse cases, a Cook County judge announced on Wednesday.

It remains unclear which of the cases prosecutors will take to trial first.

R. KELLY’S LAWYERS CLAIM BIZARRE ‘HARDSHIPS’ IN JAIL

During the hearing in Chicago, Judge Lawrence Flood told prosecutors he wants to know by Jan. 22 which of the four separate indictments they plan to take to trial first.

The R&B singer’s trial date has been set to Sept. 14, 2020.

At the federal level, the 52-year-old singer, who is being held without bond, is already scheduled to stand trial in April in Chicago and again in Brooklyn the following month.

Kelly was charged by Cook County prosecutors last March with sexually abusing three minor girls and one woman over a period of more than a decade.

Then in July, in federal court in Chicago, the R&B singer was indicted on charges of child pornography and obstruction of justice, with prosecutors accusing him of paying off potential witnesses in his 2008 trial – at which he was acquitted – to get them to change his story.

He was also indicted in New York on charges that include racketeering, kidnapping, forced labor and the sexual exploitation of a child. Prosecutors alleged he and his employees picked out women and girls at concerts and groomed them for sexual abuse.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Gabrielle Union has ‘productive’ meeting with NBC over ‘AGT’ exit, prompts investigation

Gabrielle Union had a five-hour meeting with NBC over her “America’s Got Talent” exit, and she called the sit-down “productive.”

“We had a lengthy 5-hour, and what I thought to be, productive meeting yesterday,” the actress, 47, tweeted on Wednesday. “I was able to, again, express my unfiltered truth. I led with transparency and my desire and hope for real change.”

In a statement obtained by Fox News, a representative for NBC said that “the initial conversation was candid and productive.”

“While there will be a further investigation to get a deeper understanding of the facts, we are working with Gabrielle to come to a positive resolution,” NBC added.

TERRY CREWS CATCHES BACKLASH FOR STATEMENT ON GABRIELLE UNION LEAVING ‘AGT

The meeting follows a Variety report that Union submitted complaints about an alleged “toxic culture” on the set of “AGT.” Union reportedly cited an offensive joke made by guest judge Jay Leno as an example, asking that it be reported to human resources, though it allegedly never was.

In addition, sources also told the outlet that Union was allegedly told that some of her often-changing hairstyles were “too black” for the show’s audience.

While Union has yet to clarify whether she was fired or left on her own accord, her husband Dwayne Wade alleged in a tweet that she was, in fact, fired.

Julianne Hough, who also departed the show, has also spoken out, denying that she left because of a “toxic culture.”

“…I believe that the paradigm of the workplace and how you do business and work with people now, it’s shifting, and I think that the people that really want to see change happen are going to authentically and positively… do that. And so that’s all I really have to say about that,” the 31-year-old dancer said on People Now.
