‘Brady Bunch’ star Susan Olsen remembers her friendship with Florence Henderson: ‘All the love was genuine’

Susan Olsen still has vivid memories of “a lovely lady” who happened to be her TV mom.

Florence Henderson, who is famously known as perky matriarch Carol Brady in the ‘70s sitcom “The Brady Bunch,” passed away in November 2016 from heart failure at age 82. Feb. 14 — Valentine’s Day — would have been her birthday.

“Florence was the ultimate team player,” Olsen, who played the youngest daughter Cindy Brady, told Fox News. “She not only got along well with cast members but everyone on the set — electricians, makeup, everyone was a respected team member and one of her goals was to get everyone home to their families as soon as possible.”

“That said, if time allowed, she enjoyed creating deliberate bloopers,” the 58-year-old continued. “She would purposefully screw up a scene to get everyone laughing. Florence was all about putting smiles on peoples’ faces! When Joe Namath was our guest star, we were filming the scene where he says goodbye to the Brady family. In one take, Florence threw her arms around him and shouted, ‘Joe please take me away! I’m so sick of these kids!’ Joe didn’t miss a beat, he picked her up and carried her off-screen.”

‘I DREAM OF JEANNIE’ STAR BARBARA EDEN SHARES THE SECRET BEHIND HER 29-YEAR MARRIAGE: ‘IT’S NOT EASY’

Henderson was making a film in Norway in 1969 when she was asked to appear in the pilot episode of “The Brady Bunch,” the New York Times reported. The actress began her career as a stage musical performer in the 1950s. She was also a frequent guest on “The Tonight Show” and, in 1966, became one of the first women to be the show’s guest host.

“The Brady Bunch” ran from 1969 until 1974, but also spawned TV films, reunion specials, spinoffs and even two feature films, the outlet noted.

Olsen, a former child star, said Henderson was eager to share plenty of motherly advice when the pair weren’t filming.

“[She would tell me to] know your face, know how to do your own makeup,” Olsen explained. “Florence still arrived in the mornings for touch-ups but her point was to never be dependent on the makeup person. I think she may have learned this lesson herself on the day of her screen test for ‘The Brady Bunch.’ She arrived clean-faced and they had a makeup artist from the set of ‘Star Trek’ make her up. He made her look like some galactic siren, not what was suitable for Carol Brady.”

“In the early ‘90s when we were making the smash flop ‘The Bradys,’ we were all in Florida doing a talk show to promote it,” reflected Olsen. “It was outside and it was raining. The makeup people were stuck in traffic. Florence came to me and said, ‘Aren’t you glad you’re camera-ready? You never know what’s going to happen.’ Florence and I were the only ones made up and ready to go. We didn’t need to wait for the makeup people who were stuck in traffic.”

AUDREY HEPBURN, OSCAR-WINNER FOR ‘ROMAN HOLIDAY,’ CONTINUES TO INSPIRE HOLLYWOOD STARS, EXPERT SAYS

Long after “The Brady Bunch” came to an end, Henderson kept busy pursuing her passion for performance. In 2010, she appeared on “Dancing With the Stars,” but was eliminated in the televised competition after performing a tango to the “Brady Bunch” theme. Shortly before her death, Henderson was spotted in the show’s studio audience to support Maureen McCormick, who played her daughter Marcia Brady in “The Brady Bunch.”

Olsen said it’s easy to understand why Henderson is still such a beloved TV mom.

“I’ve always said that people are more psychic than given credit for,” she said. “Our audience saw that Florence’s love was genuine. All of the love between the cast members was genuine and people were drawn to that.”

Today, Olsen hopes audiences will remember Henderson for the way she made them feel, as well as how “their spirits [were] lifted and their faces smiling from her art.”

“That’s what she wanted to give,” Olsen added.

Back in 2016, shortly before her death, Henderson told Fox News she was grateful to stay in touch with her “Brady” family.

“I do keep in touch with my Brady family,” she said at the time. “I was heartbroken over the loss of Ann B. Davis — Alice. She was such a great friend and a great talent. But I do keep in touch with them. And they all turned out to be really wonderful adults.”

Henderson also said she was “very proud” to be recognized as one of America’s favorite TV moms.

“I’m the youngest of 10 children,” she said. “And yet, I always feel like the mother of my siblings. That’s just the way it is. I have four children. I have five grandchildren. And, I don’t know, it’s like I’ve always been a caregiver.”

Henderson married Broadway casting director Ira Bernstein in 1956 but divorced in 1985, the New York Times noted. She married Dr. John Happas in 1987 and that union lasted until his death in 2002.

When Henderson was asked in 1999 by the Archive of American Television on how she wanted to be remembered, she responded: “Probably as someone who survived for a long time in a very tough business and, hopefully, managed to retain a sense of humanity.”

‘Friends’ stars Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry were rude, Ross Mathews says

RuPaul Drag Race” judge Ross Mathews revealed that two stars of the hit sitcom “Friends” were less-than-kind to him at a red carpet event years ago.

In his new book “Name Drop” the 40-year-old recalls a time early in his career when he was interviewing stars on the red carpet for NBC’s 75th Anniversary Party for “The Tonight Show” in 2002, back when he was known as “Ross the Intern.”

JENNIFER ANISTON REUNITES WITH ‘FRIENDS’ CAST FOR HER INSTAGRAM DEBUT

According to Page Six, Ross claims Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc approached him. Being a “Friends” fan, he introduced himself as Ross, prompting the two stars to joke that Ross was standing further down the carpet, pointing at David Schwimmer, whose character on the show was named Ross.

“‘Oh yeah, the other Ross,’ I replied, jokingly rolling my eyes,” he writes in the book. “That didn’t go over well. Immediately the mood changed. Matthew Perry began staring into the camera blankly as Matt LeBlanc asked, ‘How did you get this gig?’”

Trying to keep things light, Mathews joked back, “I slept my way to the top.”

“Matt LeBlanc pointed to me, then looked into the camera, and said, ‘Jay, are you kidding? Are you kidding, Jay?’” Mathews recalls. “Matthew Perry joined in, addressing the camera and asking, ‘What’s the call here, Jay?’”

Although Mathews didn’t appreciate the awkward red carpet encounter, he notes that LeBlanc redeemed himself 15 years later. He explains in his book that he was covering the SAG Awards for E! When LeBlanc approached him to apologize.

“I don’t know if you even remember this, but years ago you interviewed me on a red carpet and I was really rude to you.  It’s bugged me ever since and I’ve always wanted to apologize to you. It wasn’t cool of me to do that to you. I’m sorry.’”

Mathews said that he appreciated the apology, but noted that Perry has yet to address the red carpet incident.

‘Friends’ star David Schwimmer shoots down reunion hopes, advocates for a reboot with a more diverse cast

David Schwimmer shot down hopes of a “Friends” reunion and instead advocated for a reboot of the beloved 90s sitcom with a more diverse cast.

The actor, 53, played Ross Geller on the hit sitcom for 10 seasons. Like the rest of the cast, he’s constantly asked about getting the band back together for a TV reboot similar to that of fellow NBC sitcom “Will & Grace.” However, speaking to The Guardian, Schwimmer explained that it’s hard for him to imagine a good enough reason to revive “Friends.”

“I just don’t think it’s possible, given everyone’s different career trajectories,” he told the outlet. “I think everyone feels the same: why mess with what felt like the right way to end the series? I don’t want to do anything for the money. It would have to make sense creatively and nothing I’ve heard so far presented to us makes sense.”

JENNIFER ANISTON REUNITES WITH ‘FRIENDS’ CAST FOR HER INSTAGRAM DEBUT

The actor also noted that, when it comes to reuniting with his former cast members Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow and Jennifer Aniston, he doesn’t really need a reboot of the show given that they continue to hang out every chance they get.

“We all had a little reunion dinner at Courteney’s house recently,” he explained. “Everyone drifts and everyone has families and gets on with it so there are different relationships among the cast, but I’m probably closest to LeBlanc on a regular basis. I’m the only one that lives in New York.”

Although he doesn’t have much desire to reprise the role of Ross Geller, Schwimmer doesn’t hate the idea of someone else taking on the character. He even goes as far as to suggest a reboot with a more diverse cast, noting he fought for diversity on the show while it was airing.

‘FRIENDS’ CAST HAS STAYED CLOSE FOR 25 YEARS BY ‘LEANING ON EACH OTHER’ IN TIMES OF NEED

“Maybe there should be an all-black Friends or an all-Asian Friends,” Schwimmer says. “But I was well aware of the lack of diversity and I campaigned for years to have Ross date women of color. One of the first girlfriends I had on the show was an Asian American woman, and later I dated African American women. That was a very conscious push on my part.”

In the wake of the series finding its way to Netflix for a binge-watching culture, Schwimmer commented that a millennial audience has criticized the sitcom for homophobia, transphobia and sexism. However, the actor brushes off those concerns noting how ahead of its time “Friends” was on other social issues.

“I don’t care,” he told The Guardian. “The truth is also that show was groundbreaking in its time for the way in which it handled so casually sex, protected sex, gay marriage and relationships. The pilot of the show was my character’s wife left him for a woman and there was a gay wedding, of my ex and her wife, that I attended.

He continued: “I feel that a lot of the problem today in so many areas is that so little is taken in context. You have to look at it from the point of view of what the show was trying to do at the time. I’m the first person to say that maybe something was inappropriate or insensitive, but I feel like my barometer was pretty good at that time. I was already really attuned to social issues and issues of equality.”

Don’t hold your breath, “Friends” fans.

It appears that the highly anticipated reunion special featuring the cast and creators of the hit sitcom, announced in November, is still up in the air.

HBO Max, where the special is scheduled to air, held a presentation on Wednesday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, where chief content officer Kevin Reilly said that he’s still waiting on a green light.

“There’s interest all the way around, and yet we can’t seem to quite get that interest all aligned to push the button on it, so today, unfortunately, it’s still a maybe,” said Reilly said when asked about the unscripted special.

When the special was announced, it was reported that Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc would all participate, as well as the show’s original creators, David Crane and Marta Kauffman.

Aniston, 50, first hinted at the reunion in an October visit to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” where she was pressed for details about a possible reboot of the iconic comedy.

“Listen, we would love for there to be something but we don’t know what that something is,” said the actress. “We’re working on something.”

While on the show, Aniston would not confirm that a recent meeting between the cast members recently took place to discuss what that “something” might be.

“We are always trying to think of something to do, but we have to figure out what the right thing is,” Aniston previously told “Entertainment Tonight“. “But we will.”

‘My Three Sons’ star Tina Cole ditched twin beds with on-screen husband Don Grady

Tina Cole wasn’t afraid to break the rules as America’s sweetheart.

The actress, who starred as Robbie Douglas’ wife Katie in the hit series “My Three Sons,” made a bold move when she and her on-screen husband Don Grady decided to share the same bed in front of cameras. It was a risky decision in the 1960s, but one that needed to be done, they insisted. And the sitcom didn’t suffer from the risky choice. In fact, the show thrived and stayed on the air until it finally received the ax in 1972.

Cole, 76, is still keeping busy as an actress. In fact, she’s set to star in “Reawakened,” which will be released this year. Cole, the daughter of one of the famous big band-era King Sisters, spoke to Fox News about ditching the twin beds, her epic romance with Grady, who passed away in 2012 at age 68, and what her life is like today.

CURLY HOWARD’S GRANDSON DESCRIBES LEARNING HE WAS RELATED TO THE THREE STOOGES ICON: ‘NO ONE WOULD BELIEVE US’

Fox News: Looking back, how did you get the role of Katie in “My Three Sons”?
Tina Cole: I was 19 and took over the female lead in a show called “Hawaiian Eye,” which was the first show ever shot in Hawaii. I was under contract to Warner Bros., but then it ended. I did a few shows after that. Then “The King Family” started. We had a weekly variety show on ABC and that kept me busy.

Then the fourth year, I got a call from the producer of “My Three Sons.” He said, “We’ve seen you. Come out and audition for the wife of the oldest son Robbie.” I figure, Why not? I went in and, apparently, they had looked at about 2,000 girls. They screen-tested 20. They were really trying to find the right girl.

He was screaming, “Wait a minute, you forgot to sign the contract!” I got the part and was due to start in a week. I became a permanent member from that day on and loved every minute of it.

Fox News: What was your relationship like with the cast?
Cole: It was interesting [laughs]. I got along with everybody. They instantly welcomed me, loved me, showed me around – it was wonderful. But I found out a couple of years later that Don Grady, who played Robbie, didn’t really want me to be cast.

Fox News: Why didn’t Don want you for the part?
Cole: He didn’t think I was the right girl for him–well, for his character. He was really into surfer girls, Peggy Lipton style — skinny and blonde. And then there’s me [laughs]. I had no idea he really fought the casting. And I guess he felt awkward about it.

Fox News: Did you and Don Grady face any challenges on set?
Cole: When we were filming, we were supposed to show how this couple falls in love. But instead of kissing, our noses would just bump into each other — things like that. I remember the director one day said, “Stop, that’s enough. We’re going to take a break, but then we are going to film another scene and you two have to kiss. It’s got to work. I want you guys to go to the back of the stage and practice kissing.” And we did [laughs]. We had to, so it looked natural!

Fox News: What’s the story behind the twin beds on set?
Cole: I remember for one episode, Robbie and Katie get home from their honeymoon. We walked into what is going to be our bedroom. There were twin beds. Now, this is 1967. Don said, “There’s no way. We can’t do this. We’ve gotta have a big bed. There’s no way we can have twin beds.” So they had to scramble to find this big bed. I think we were one of the first shows that had a couple on the same bed together on television.

But there were major rules that went with it. You could talk and lay in bed next to each other. You could look at each other, but when the scene was done, you had to roll over, back to back. You couldn’t end the scene facing each other. It was too suggestive. I remember we had to do something very daring in one scene – we had to end the scene in an embrace. We all took a chance with that. We actually broke the rules by ending the scene with a kiss in bed. Isn’t that crazy? [Laughs]

Fox News: How did you feel about this whole dilemma? Your character is supposed to be married.
Cole: I completely agreed with Don. I thought it was ridiculous. It was just unrealistic — it was silly. I mean come on, this was the ‘60s. But at that time, we were representing the traditional family. People still wanted that in their lives and yet the whole world was going crazy with free love and drugs. We had hippies and Vietnam going on. And yet, we couldn’t be on the same bed. We represented this idea that some people were holding on to. I guess that’s why people liked the show so much. It’s what they wanted in their lives instead of all this chaos.

Fox News: How did your relationship with Don change?
Cole: Two years later, after I joined the show, I was divorced. Don and I started doing telethons together. We were singing and fell madly in love. That’s when I found out he originally didn’t want me in the show. But we were just crazy about each other. We went together on and off for about eight years. He wanted to marry me, but I wasn’t ready. I loved him madly, but I had a son and I just wasn’t sure. I wasn’t quite ready.

I remember he asked me to live with him. But I just couldn’t. He said, “Then I need to find somebody who will then.” He then got married. We did one of the first reunion shows with “The Patridge Family,” which was really odd because we weren’t even on the same network. I remember Don and me locked eyes when we saw each other for the first time. He then said, “I made a huge mistake. I will call you when I’m no longer married.” And he did a couple of months later.

Fox News: Did you and Don get back together?
Cole: Oh yes, we got back together. But then he wanted to go to New York and try Broadway. He said, “Come with me.” I told him, “I will as your wife.” Then he said, “No, come as my friend.” I told him that I just couldn’t. We never did marry, but it was a very wonderful love for many years. It’s funny because he initially didn’t like me at all because I apparently wasn’t his type.

Fox News: What caused “My Three Sons” to end?
Cole: Fred Silverman took over as programming director for CBS. He did not like any of those little sitcoms on TV. He wasn’t into the whole all-American, apple-pie look.  He hated all of those shows like “My Three Sons” and “Petticoat Junction.”

So he kept putting us in these strange time slots like 10 o’clock on a Saturday night – odd times where no one would watch us. We still had decent ratings, but he kept working on it until he was able to cancel it. Even though the public still wanted shows like “My Three Sons,” he didn’t like us at all.

Fox News: What have you been up to since?
Cole: For 24 seasons, I’ve directed musical theater for children in kindergarten through third grade. It’s all interactive with a curriculum. We teach them theater etiquette, they learn the music. It’s the most thrilling thing for me to do. I adore it. It was just women from the community who wanted to give back to the kids. I’m also keeping busy with “The King Family.” I believe we were the first family to have a television show in the ‘60s.

My mother is one of the King Sisters. She and her sisters were big band singers. They were nominated for one of the first Grammys ever. They had an amazing four-part harmony sound. Well, we’re putting together a tribute for my mom and it will premiere this summer. I also moved to Sacramento to be a wife and a mom… It’s been a lovely place to live and it allows me to be Grandma, which I love.

Comedy legend Carol Burnett has opened up about her role in the “Mad About You” reboot.

The 86-year-old actress has reprised her role as Theresa Stemple, the mother of Helen Hunt’s character. In 1997, she won an Emmy for the role.

Burnett revealed that filming the show was a bit trickier than expected.

ALEX TREBEK HAS ‘NO PLANS TO QUIT’ JEOPARDY AMID STAGE 4 CANCER BATTLE: REPORT

“Unfortunately, I had a terrible cold. The day we did the first read-through, I had no voice,” she recalled. “But then I had a day off, so at least I got my voice kind of back. We [taped] on a Friday and the cold was knocking me out, but you know what? The show must go on. Joanna Kerns, the director, was mindful of the way I felt. I wanted to do right by it, so I was concerned, but they all embraced me and I will always be grateful for that.”

Despite the original show ending in 1999, Burnett noted that not much has changed for the show’s stars, Helen Hunt and Paul Reiser.

‘GAME OF THRONES’ STAR ALFIE ALLEN ‘SHOCKED AND SADDENED’ BY DEATH OF HIS STUNT DOUBLE: REPORT

“Paul and Helen, they just have it down pat. It’s like they are married,” said Burnett. “They obviously adore each other and admire each other’s work and you can’t even figure that they’re acting. Sometimes, Paul would say something, and I thought it was Paul talking to me, but it was the character. He’s so natural. They couldn’t have been sweeter.”

‘Will & Grace’ actress Shelley Morrison dead at 83, remembered by co-stars

Shelley Morrison, the actress who was best known for playing Rosario Salazar on the hit NBC series “Will & Grace,” died at age 83 on Sunday, prompting the sitcom’s cast to pay tribute on social media.

Morrison died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles from heart failure after a brief illness, publicist Lori DeWaal told The Associated Press. She was 83.

On the original run of “Will & Grace” from 1999 until 2006, Morrison played Salazar, a maid from El Salvador, becoming part of a cast that won a Screen Actors Guild award for best ensemble in a comedy series.

The character, originally written for a single episode, proved so popular in her interactions with co-star Megan Mullally that she would appear in 68 episodes during the NBC series’ eight seasons.

“Rosario is one of my all-time favorite characters,” Morrison said recently, according to a statement and biography announcing her death. “She reminds me a lot of my own mother, who loved animals and children, but she would not suffer fools. It is very significant to me that we were able to show an older, Hispanic woman who is bright and smart and can hold her own.”

‘WILL & GRACE’ REBOOT TO END WITH UPCOMING SEASON

Mullally, who played Morrison’s boss Karen Walker, praised the actress on Twitter.

“My heart is heavy. putting shelley, her beloved husband walter & their children in the light. thank you for your friendship & partnership, shell. you accomplished wonderful things in this world. you will be missed,” she tweeted.

Eric McCormack, who starred as Will in the NBC sitcom, recalled Morrison on Twitter as a “beautiful soul” and wonderful actor. “Her work as Rosario, season after season, was as nuanced and real as it was hysterical,” McCormack tweeted.

Debra Messing, who starred as Grace in the sitcom, tweeted: “Oh, Shelley… what a loss. Our dear Rosario has passed on. Shelley had a career that spanned decades, but she will always be our dear Rosie. All my love to Walter and the entire family.”

Sean Hayes, who played Jack McFarland on the sitcom, wrote in an Instagram post that Morrison “was absolutely hilarious and had the biggest heart.”

Besides the opportunity to portray a strong Latina, Morrison valued “Will & Grace” for its breakthrough TV depiction of gay characters, said her husband, Walter Dominguez.

“Shelley’s greatest pride as an actress was in playing the indomitable Rosario, in a comedy series that furthered the cause of social equity and fairness for LGBTQ people. … She believed that the best way to change hearts and minds was through comedy,” Dominguez said in a statement.

Before “Will & Grace,” Morrison was best known in her more than 50-year acting career for playing Sister Sixto on “The Flying Nun” alongside Sally Field from 1967 to 1970.

Born Rachel Mitrani to Jewish parents from Spain in the Bronx, New York, in 1936, Morrison spoke primarily Spanish as a child. She was often cast as Latina characters, but she played a range of ethnicities in theater, television and film.

Lori Loughlin left out of ‘Fuller House’ final season trailer amid college admissions scandal legal battle

Netflix released the jam-packed trailer for the final season of “Fuller House,” leaving embattled former star Lori Loughlin out of the family-friendly teaser.

Loughlin, who was fired from both the Netflix series as well as her Hallmark show “When Calls the Heart” after news of her alleged involvement in the ongoing college admissions scandal broke, does not appear in the Season 5 trailer alongside a slew of her former cast members.

‘FULLER HOUSE’ STAR ANDREA BARBER ‘ALMOST RAN OVER’ ‘BIG BANG THEORY’ STAR MAYIM BIALIK BY ACCIDENT

The trailer teases life for the family after Stephanie welcomes her daughter at the end of Season 4. Her family and collection of intrepid friends rally around her in Season 5 to help care for yet another Tanner youngster in the house. Although original “Full House” cast members Bob Saget, Dave Coulier and John Stamos show up for the spinoff’s swan song, Loughlin is nowhere to be found.

The actress and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, pleaded not guilty to expanded charges in the college admissions scandal after being counted among 11 parents additionally charged with bribery.

Loughlin’s “Fuller House” co-star, Andrea Barber, recently told People that her absence could be felt by the cast while taping the final episode.

“It was really sad, and we could feel her absence,” she said. “It just felt like there was a hole in the whole season but also in that final episode. She should’ve been there, and I’m sorry that she wasn’t.”

Barber added that amid the tension she’s experiencing at the moment, she does keep in touch with Loughlin and added that the former Hallmark staple is “doing as good as possible.”

Loughlin, 55, and her fashion designer husband Mossimo Giannulli, 56, are accused of arranging a total collective payment of $500,000 to William “Rick” Singer to get their daughters recruited to USC as athletes on the crew team, despite never having participated in the sport.

The Justice Department announced in October that the duo, along with nine other parents, were indicted on additional federal charges related to bribery. A grand jury in Boston indicted the parents on charges of trying to bribe officials at an organization that receives at least $10,000 in federal funding.

The charge of conspiracy to commit federal program bribery carries a maximum sentence of up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. The couple was previously hit with charges of money laundering and conspiracy that could land them behind bars for 40 years if convicted on all of them. Prosecutors are pressuring those who have pleaded not guilty in the college admissions scandal to acknowledge their guilt.

Former ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ star Alfonso Ribeiro explains why he won’t be doing sitcoms anytime soon

Alfonso Ribeiro is back on TV.

The 48-year-old actor, who’s been in show business for 40 years, is returning to hosting “Catch 21” as the reboot launches on Game Show Network. The half-hour series unites pop culture trivia with the classic Sin City card game 21. And reuniting does feel good for Ribeiro, as he is teaming up with his former “Dancing with the Stars” partner, Witney Carson, who joined the show as a card dealing.

But “Catch 21” isn’t new to Ribeiro. In fact, he hosted the original run on the Game Show Network for four seasons between 2008 until 2011. However, the former “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” star has kept busy and is juggling roles as the current host of “America’s Funniest Videos.” However, Ribeiro admitted sitcoms aren’t in the cards anytime soon.

Ribeiro spoke to Fox News about taking on “Catch 21” again, the strange encounters he’s had with fans, why he’s putting sitcoms on hold, and what has kept him going in Hollywood.

VANNA WHITE DESCRIBES HOW SHE COPES WITH TOUGH TIMES

Fox News: Would you consider taking on a sitcom anytime soon?
Alfonso Ribeiro: There’s no plan to. I’m enjoying what I’m doing. I think that it’s fun to do this. I spent so many years trying to get America and the industry to learn the name Alfonso Ribeiro instead of Carlton Banks, that it’s pretty cool that people actually start to know my name now versus calling me a character. So I’m enjoying what I’m doing, everything is always on the table, but I’m very happy with where I’m at.

Fox News: You’ve been in show business for 40 years. What has kept you going?
Ribeiro: Work. Work has kept me going. I love what I do. I feel like I’m so blessed and so lucky that I’ve been given this opportunity and these talents to be able to continue to work. I’m very lucky and very happy and I think just hard work will always succeed.

I feel like if the timing is right and the opportunities are right, as long as you keep working hard and keep doing everything you can to deliver the best results that you can, I feel like there’s a great chance that you get to continue to do what you love to do. And I’ve been fortunate enough to put into work, but also be lucky enough to get the opportunities.

‘HOLLYWOOD SQUARES’ HOST PETER MARSHALL EXPLAINS WHY THE ICONIC GAME SHOW ENDED

Fox News: What’s the funniest or most unusual encounter you’ve ever had with a fan over the years?
Ribeiro: I’ve had a lot of difficult, sometimes confrontational situations where people think of me as that old character. And people can get, at times, unfortunately, very disrespectful. And so, I’ve had a few of those where people get a little ridiculous.

But the fun stuff is just, right now, it’s really with the kids, especially with AFV. Kids walk up to me and they… I’m that funny host dude. And so, those are the best encounters. And I try to make sure that I give every one of those kids an opportunity to feel special in some way at that moment.

Fox News: You previously hosted Catch 21 from 2008 until 2011. What made you come back?
Ribeiro: … I thought it’d be fun to come back and do it again. It’s a game where, as the host, it’s a very difficult game show to host because you really got to be great and quick with numbers. I’m constantly doing the math and telling everybody what they have and what they’re ultimately looking for, which is there to build the drama for when a card shows up, everybody knows what that card means.

So, if a guy has a 15 and you’re looking for a six and that six shows up, everybody’s instantly not trying to do the math in their heads, so I’m doing it for them. So I’m doing that with all three players. It’s a lot. But it’s fun for my brain to do and I get to have some fun and be silly. And this year it’s even great because I’ve got Whitney Carson dealing the cards.

Fox News: What’s it been like reuniting with Witney Carson?
Ribeiro: Well, it’s great. I always say, you never reunite really because it’s just on camera because Whitney and her husband, my wife and I, we were like their aunt and uncle. Right? We’re always with them, we love them to death. And so, she’s never left, she’s part of the family now. So right from “Dancing with the Stars” on, I’m Uncle Al to her.

Fox News: What do you believe is missing from game shows these days?
Ribeiro: I don’t really know if there’s anything really missing in game shows. I think everybody’s trying to make them bigger, make them better. I think that the reality is, as time has moved on, it’s not one of the main genres, it’s not what people are focusing on. So, some work, some don’t.

ALFONSO RIBEIRO ON HOW THE CARLTON DANCE WAS INVENTED ON ‘THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR’

I think we live in a different time where game shows are not as prevalent as they were back in the ’60s and ’70s. But I still think they work. I still think game shows are fun to watch. And it’s trivia. Obviously, I think that there’s a battle today because of the Internet and you could always get information and play games on your phone and that kind of thing. Whereas before it was pretty much watching it on TV, it was the best way to play along with a game.

So times have changed a little bit, but it’s still fun to watch them. It’s still fun to sit on the couch and throw a game show on and watch how someone’s playing it. And this is a game that way, where you’re watching strategy, you’re watching someone answer questions. So intellect and numbers. So it’s a little bit of everything that I like in game shows.

Fox News: You’ve recently welcomed baby Ava Sue.
Ribeiro: She’s five months now, which is very awesome. She’s an awesome little girl. She’s the best sleeper, great temperament, just great energy, she’s cute as a button, and I’m lucky to have my fourth and final child.

Fox News: How important has it been for you to be a hands-on parent, especially having such a high-profile career?
Ribeiro: I feel like it’s the most important thing. At the end of the day, I’ve got two jobs. The first one, obviously, is to be a parent, and to be there and to give my kids the best experience that I could possibly give them while teaching them how to have a chance in life once they become adults.

And then, obviously, my regular work life on TV. My kids don’t know the difference. All they know is I’m dad and I need to do the same as every other dad out there, trying to make their home happy. That’s my number one focus: what can I do to make them happy children that see the world in a positive way.

“Catch 21” airs weeknights at 6 p.m. on Game Show Network.
