Woman who photographed romantic proposal finds mystery couple after putting Internet on the case

A woman in the U.K. has identified the mystery couple whose engagement she photographed during a stroll with her family last week.

Charlene-Louise Johnstone first shared the photo to Facebook on Jan. 18, telling her followers that she spotted the then-unidentified couple at Cleave Hill in Gloucestershire earlier that day.

GROOM-TO-BE TELLS BRIDE SHE’S BEING UNREASONABLE ABOUT DRESS, ASKS IF HE’S IN THE WRONG

“Didn’t fancy running up to them and giving them the photo and intruding in their moment… so if anyone wants to help share see if we can find them as I’m sure they’d like the photo,” Johnstone wrote in the post, which soon went viral with over 17,000 shares to date.

“They were hugging and were emotional. She was wiping away tears and I’m pretty sure it was a ‘yes,’” she added, per SWNS.

The story soon took off, with some commenters offering to share the photo on their own social media accounts. And within days, the mystery lovebirds became aware of Johnstone’s picture.

On Monday, Johnstone explained in a follow-up post that the couple reached out after learning of her efforts — and they were absolutely delighted at the response their photo had generated.

“Just want to say a huge congratulations to this lovely couple on their engagement,” Johnstone posted to Facebook on Monday, along with a photo submitted to her by the bride- and groom-to-be.

They also told Johnstone that they preferred to remain anonymous for the time-being, but confirmed they were “over the moon with the photo I took, the reaction and all the lovely comments received,” she wrote.

“Love a happy ending,” Johnstone added.

Johnstone’s story also brings to mind a similar search effort that was launched in October 2018, after a photographer captured a stunning engagement on a far-off peak at Yosemite and enlisted the Internet’s help in identifying the couple.

Groom-to-be tells bride she’s being unreasonable for wanting ‘extravagant’ dress, asks internet if he’s being a jerk

Something tells us he’s not going to like the answer.

A groom-to-be recently took to Reddit to ask whether or not he was wrong for allegedly telling his fiancée that she shouldn’t buy the $950 wedding dress she wants, but rather a $50 knock-off.

The man, who posted under a throwaway account with the username “Josh8449,” began by explaining that he and his fiancée “Emma” were getting married in July, and had everything “pretty much sorted” as far as the actual ceremony goes.

WEDDING GUEST SLAMMED FOR ‘GROSS’ RESPONSE TO WEDDING INVITE

The one thing his bride-to-be hadn’t bought yet was a wedding dress.

Emma allegedly told him she was eyeing a gown that cost $950, as well as a $120 veil — a move Josh didn’t understand because the couple “[isn’t] the extravagant type at all.”

Josh said he was also a bit peeved because they had jointly saved $10,000 for the wedding, and the dress would put a dent in their leftover honeymoon fund.

“I’m not trying to get her to cheap out on her dress but she will literally wear it once, one dress for over $1000 is just insane that would fund our honeymoon,” the Redditor complained. (iStock)

“I’m not trying to get her to cheap out on her dress but she will literally wear it once, one dress for over $1000 is just insane that would fund our honeymoon,” Josh said.

Josh added that he was going to wear his dad’s old tuxedo to save money. And while he understood that Emma couldn’t wear her mother’s gown — “her and her mum both say the style hasn’t aged well [which] is fair” — he didn’t understand why she couldn’t find a cheaper, similar dress online.

“I had a quick google around at dresses online and there were so many! [A]nd so many just like the one Emma wants for like $50 to $100,” he said.

“I tried to show her some dresses I found on [the Wish app] and others … but she was having none of it.”

Emma also offered to pay for the dress out of her own money, and not their shared honeymoon fund, but Josh still wasn’t happy because “we [are] about to marry and our finances will be joined.” He also didn’t appreciate Emma’s mom offering to buy the dress.

The whole thing soon turned “nasty,” Josh said, adding that “Emma has been extremely cold to me” and acting like a “toddler.”

Josh claims Emma also questioned whether the two were too incompatible to marry, and went to stay with her parents.

Not surprisingly, the Reddit community largely agreed that, yes, Josh was wrong.

“Regardless of dress type, though, your reaction to her — calling her names and deciding you have veto power — is the real problem. You should be solving this issue together. If you can’t, maybe it’s not time to get married yet,” one user said.

“Most of the wedding guests would be arriving in more expensive attire, if $50-100 was her dress budget,” another wrote.

“Like seriously? Sorry… but your girlfriend deserves way better,” someone else claimed.

“If my fiancé called me a toddler for spending one grand of my own money on a reasonably-priced dress for our wedding, I’d be seriously reconsidering the marriage. That’s such childish behavior,” another said.

Josh later updated his original post, stating that Emma found it on Reddit, and that it was a “mistake” to air his grievances.

“Emma found this thread, it was a mistake to post here and [I’m] sorry I posted our problems on Reddit,” he said, adding the acronym “IATA,” which is an admission meaning “I am the a—h—.”

Man hacks ‘Sleeping Beauty’ showing with on-screen marriage proposal

Sometimes, true love is right in front of you.

While Disney’s “Sleeping Beauty” fell for the prince who awoke her, one of the movie’s superfans was recently surprised with a marriage proposal from her boyfriend during a showing of the classic flick.

Last week, Dr. Sthuthi David said “yes” to her longtime beau Lee Loechler, after he popped the question during a rerun of her all-time favorite movie at Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, Mass. And to the shock of the bride-to-be, Loechler, a filmmaker, worked with Australia-based illustrator Kayla Coombs for six months to create a special new ending of the movie, casting himself as Prince Phillip and David as Princess Aurora, Today reported.

BRIDE DOESN’T WANT SISTER AS MAID OF HONOR BECAUSE SHE’LL BE WEARING ARM SLING

In adorable footage of the big moment – which had amassed over 2.4 million views on YouTube as of Friday morning – a secret camera captured David looking confused from her front-row seat as she watched one the 1959 film’s pivotal scenes.

This time around, the prince kissed the sleeping princess — but he looked a whole lot like Loechler. The animated royal then pulled out a diamond ring, which made the on-screen Princess Sthuthi smile. The real Loechler then took over, expertly catching a real-life ring box thrown from behind the movie screen.

Dropping down on one knee, Loechler asked David to be his wife. The audience, which unbeknownst to David was filled with their friends, family and a few good-natured strangers, clapped and cheered.

“I love you with my whole heart. Including all of its ventricles, atriums, valves,” Loechler said, clarifying to the audience that his partner was a cardiologist. “Sthuthi David, MD, will you live happily ever after with me?”

Overcome with emotion, David said yes, as the film’s iconic “Once Upon a Dream” played in the background.

Ohio couple dies of natural causes within hours of each other, ‘literally held hands’ until the end

They went out like they lived — madly in love.

An elderly couple in Ohio recently passed away of natural causes within hours of each other on Christmas Eve, holding each other’s hands right up until the end.

COUPLE WHO GOT ENGAGED AT KFC JUST HAD ‘WEDDING OF OUR DREAMS’

Bill and Nancy Schafrath, aged 88 and 85, respectively, had been married for 64 years. But in the weeks leading up to the holiday, Bill, who resided at the Brookdale Senior Living facility in Wooster with Nancy, was no longer able to get out of bed. Nancy’s bed was moved near his, so the two could “literally [hold] hands for the last week of their life,” their niece Pat Cornelius told the Wooster Daily Record.

On Dec. 24, Bill sadly passed away of natural causes after 7 a.m. Nancy passed only hours later, sometime after 11.

“We kind of knew that they were going to go together,” Amber Maier of Brookdale Senior Living added to Fox 8.

Despite never having children, the couple, who were married in 1955, loved their “many nieces and nephews,” according to their obituaries. They were also active in their community, each having been a member of several local organizations and clubs.

Bill, a former bricklayer by trade, was also a veteran of the Army who served in the Korean War. And Nancy, who was described by family as “bubbly and energetic,” managed an Ohio bank for 35 years.

The Schafraths’ funeral mass was attended by over 200 friends and family members, according to the Daily Record.

Bride doesn’t want stepdad to walk her down aisle because she ‘hates’ him

A bride-to-be who says she refused to ask her stepfather to walk her down the aisle is now concerned her decision has torn her family apart.

In a now-viral Reddit post, the woman, 23, said she instead asked her uncle to do the honor of giving her away to her future husband.

She decided against asking her stepfather, who married her mother when she was 12 because she “hates” him and attributes her “mental illness and eating disorder” to him and his bullying when she was a child.

“I’ve never liked him,” she wrote. “He says horrible things to people, says racist, sexist, transphobic things for attention, and heavily contributed to my mental illness and eating disorder as a teenager.”

The Reddit poster said she once confided to her mother about how she felt about her stepfather when she was 15.

“My mom knows that we don’t get along, and she knows I didn’t like him,” she said. “She would always insist that despite having a nasty mouth, he was a really good guy and he would never hurt us.”

She “mostly” stopped talking to him over the years, she said, despite the fact that her stepfather “still refers to me as his daughter and my mother insists he loves me.

“It is not mutual, but everyone has assumed that I love him too.”

“I feel like I’ve torn what little family I have apart,” the bride writes. (Photo: iStock)

So when it came down to deciding who would walk her down the aisle, she said, it was a no-brainer. Her family is small, and since she never knew her father, she always wanted her uncle to be the one to do the honor.

But when word got back to her mother, things did not go so well.

“My mom called me crying asking why I wouldn’t want step dad to do it, saying it’s broken his heart,” the future bride wrote. “She pressed on about how heartbroken he is, saying he always thought we had a good, funny relationship.

She continued, “I said, ‘There was nothing funny about him ruining my self esteem and teenage years. I hate him and if it were up to me, he wouldn’t even be at the wedding.’”

Her stepfather is now angry with her and asked the uncle not to walk her down the aisle. What’s more, she said, the uncle is no longer speaking to the stepfather.

“I feel like I’ve torn what little family I have apart,” she added.

Reddit users weighed in on the family drama and mostly sided with the bride.

“Your wedding. He doesn’t have to even be there. It’s your day,” one Redditor commented. “The fact he’s tried to ruin it by getting your uncle involved days a lot about him.”

“If stepdad really loved her like mom thinks, he’d be reevaluating how he’s treated her, not trying to screw up her wedding to soothe his ego,” another Redditor said. “This right here proves he’s a jerk.”

Others called out the bride’s mother for not stepping in between her daughter and husband earlier.

“She knew you didn’t like it, she knew exactly how he made you feel because you freaking told her! And she decided to just ignore it all and pretend everything was perfect,” one person wrote.

Another Redditor agreed: “Mom put her husband ahead of her child, which is almost always unacceptable.”

This NHL hockey fan’s play might have just put his relationship with his girlfriend on ice.

The fan, at a New York Islanders hockey game Thursday night, seemed to use the arena’s “Kiss Cam” segment as an opportunity to play a gag, according to the New York Post.

When the couple’s images appeared on the overhead scoreboard, the unidentified fan, wearing an Islanders jersey, kissed the woman next to him and then stepped out into the aisle and got down on one knee — as if he was about to pop the question.

A video of the incident was posted on Twitter by a hockey account called Spittin’ Chiclets.

At that point, the woman stood up and seemed to be anticipating some sort of surprise — like an engagement ring, perhaps?

But instead the fan just tied his shoes.

The woman likely went home disappointed a second time because the Islanders ended up losing to the New Jersey Devils, 2-1.

Fireworks at New Jersey marriage proposal prompts evacuation of theater: ‘This was a very poor decision’

A man from New Jersey has been charged with disorderly conduct after setting off fireworks in celebration of his buddy’s engagement — and scaring the living daylights out of everyone within earshot.

Nathan Sanders, 23, had arranged to set off the fireworks outside of an indoor rock-climbing facility in Howell Township, to coincide with a marriage proposal his friend was planning on Wednesday. However, the sound of the fireworks was mistaken for gunfire, and immediately caused panic at the adjacent Xscape movie theater, according to Howell Township police.

Patrons of the movie theater were evacuated and detained during the preliminary investigation.

According to police, a manager at the movie theater had discovered that Sanders, from Lakewood, had set off fireworks outside of the adjacent Climb Zone. Law enforcement soon discovered the remnants of “discharged fireworks” nearby.

Bride doesn’t want sister as maid of honor because she’ll be wearing arm sling

A soon-to-be bride has confessed that she does not want her sister in her bridal party because she will be wearing an arm sling after having surgery.

The woman, who posted her bridal dilemma on Reddit, said she had asked her younger sister to be her maid of honor when she got engaged 14 months ago.

Her sister, 20, had a torn ligament in her elbow from playing sports as a teenager. But instead of getting surgery to repair it, she said, the sister kept putting it off and continued to play sports.

“Almost immediately upon me asking my sister to be my maid of honor, she jumped into action on finally getting her elbow surgery,” the future bride wrote.

The bride said she thought her sister would schedule her surgery in advance of the wedding to avoid wearing a sling, however, she instead chose a date just a week before the wedding.

Now she’s concerned her sister’s arm accessory will ruin her wedding.

“Obviously, I want my sister to be pain-free and finally get her surgery. But, like any human being, there is a selfish side of me,” she said.

“Obviously, I want my sister to be pain free and finally get her surgery. But, like any human being, there is a selfish side of me,” the future bride writes. (Photo: iStock)

“I don’t want her to be the maid of honor in my wedding because she’ll be wearing a sling in all of the photos and videos from the wedding.”

The bride-to-be said her family thinks she’s a “horrible person” for considering asking her sister not to be in the wedding.

“I feel as though she could’ve waited after the wedding to get the surgery,” she added. “Considering she’s waited 3 years already, or had enough time to get the surgery in advance of the wedding.”

Redditors had plenty of thoughts on the wedding dilemma, and most sided with the sister.

“She had to get her arm fixed. Why don’t YOU change your wedding if it’s such a big deal?” one Redditor commented.

“The presence of a sling in your photos bothers you more than the absence of your sister would,” another Reddit user wrote. “This is some textbook bridezilla behavior.”

Another person said, “I pray if you have kids they never have a bad hair or skin day before picture day at school.

“We all know how you’ll handle that. Photos over family is a sucky way to go through life.”

This is definitely a unique way to turn a man down.

A woman brought her 2019 to a hilarious end by reportedly pranking a man who sent her his number. Instead of chatting him up, she tricked him into thinking that he had just adopted a chimp.

Emily Cain, from England, shared images of the text exchange she says happened between her and the unnamed man on her Twitter page, where she explained, “A lads just sent me his number so thought I’d take advantage of it.”

The first image shows the beginning of the text conversation, where she sent him the following message: “Thank you and congratulations! You have successfully adopted bubbles the chimp! $9.85 will be charged to your bill per month. To cancel this subscription without any further being charged, just reply to this message with the word STOP.”

When the prank victim responded, “Stop,” she decided to keep the joke going.

“Thank you,” she replied, “and congratulations from us an animal rescue center and Bubbles himself for donating an additional $6 per month to help for food and water for Bubbles! To cancel this subscription without being charged any further, just reply to this message with the world [SIC] STOP.”

Once again, the man replied, “Stop,” to which she replied, “Thank you and congratulations for paying an additional $4 per month to receive a cuddly toy version of Bubbles.”

This continued for a few more messages before the seemingly angry man demanded to speak with someone from support.

When he thought he’d been connected with support, he wrote, “Hello, hope you have had a good Christmas. I received a text message today regarding me paying a monthly direct debit to save a monkey. Could I cancel all of the direct debits to my account please? I didn’t sign up for them. Thanks.”

At this point, Cain decided to pull back the curtain and wrote, “You have been pranked by the prank patrol, love from Emily Cain.”

Some users were skeptical as to the veracity of the images, with one questioning how the prank’s victim didn’t notice all of the spelling mistakes.
