Original owner of A Little White Chapel selling Las Vegas landmark for $12 million

It’s a fixture of Vegas. A landmark on the Strip. It’s been immortalized in countless TV series and films, but it was also the real-life site of (one of) Frank Sinatra’s wedding(s), as well as (one of) Judy Garland’s and (one of) Britney Spears’, too.

And now, it’s selling for $12 million.

A Little White Chapel, which first opened its doors in 1951 and later expanded to include a drive-thru “Tunnel of Love” wedding chapel (among other on-site wedding services), has hit the Las Vegas real estate market, as the original owner is finally ready to hand over the reins.

TINY INDIANA TOWN, POPULATION 3, HITS REAL ESTATE MARKET FOR $3.8 MILLION

“It’s been a wonderful time but it’s someone else’s turn,” said Charlotte Richards, who has owned and operated the chapel for 68 years, in a statement to Fox 5 Vegas.

Richards first bought the chapel, which originally consisted of only one room, for $50,000, but soon invested in additional amenities, like on-site gown and tux rentals, florist services, songs from Elvis impersonators, as well as the aforementioned drive-thru chapel. The building now contains five chapels in total, some of which have served as the site of famous — and infamous — wedding ceremonies.

In addition to Frankie, Jude and Britney, notable celebrities who married at A Little White Chapel – also commonly referred to as “A Little White Wedding Chapel” – include Patty Duke, James Caan, Rita Hayworth, Mickey Rooney (twice), Michael Jordan, Mary Tyler Moore, and even Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, among many others.

Richards herself presided over several of those, she says, and in total, the officiants at her chapel have overseen the marriages of more than 1 million happy (at least momentarily) couples. She also once told “Property Man” Bob Massi that she has never charged a military member for marriage services at the chapel.

Now, however, she’s ready for another enthusiastic, hopeless romantic to continue the chapel’s legacy.

“I need to slow down and let someone else take over,” Richards told Fox 5 Vegas.

The property, which sits on 1 acre of land on S. Las Vegas Boulevard, is represented by Steve Khalilzadegan of Savi Realty — and he says the $12 million asking price is a steal.

Today there is land nearby on Las Vegas Blvd that is currently listed at $30,000,000 an acre. At list price with an established business and global name recognition, I feel this is an amazing value,” Khalilzadegan said in a press release.

“It is a rarity to have such a truly iconic Las Vegas landmark come to market,” he added. “Interested parties have already reached out to me directly from around the world on this unique listing.”

A stadium full of Ohio State Buckeyes fans got a real kick out of punter Drue Chrisman’s latest play.

During halftime at Saturday’s spring game, Chrisman surprised girlfriend Avery Eliason with an on-field marriage proposal while more than 61,000 fans cheered from the stands.

Chrisman had told Eliason that she, along with the girlfriend of former Buckeyes’ kicker Sean Nuernberger, were going to compete in a kicking contest at halftime. But when Chrisman got down to hold the ball for Eliason, he had another idea in mind.

Stopping his girlfriend in her tracks, Chrisman pulled out a ring he hid on the far side of his cleat and proposed. Eliason accepted, and Chrisman’s team soon stormed the field to celebrate.

“Honestly, I think she was more relieved she didn’t have to kick a ball than when she actually got proposed to,” said Chrisman following the proposal, the Columbus Dispatch reported. “It worked out perfectly.”

According to the outlet, Chrisman’s proposal took weeks of planning, as well as the approval of Ohio State’s compliance office. Chrisman’s teammates were also in on the surprise for nearly two weeks, ESPN reported, though they were able to hold their tongues.

“Thank you to everyone who made today possible!” Chrisman later wrote on Twitter. “So grateful my brothers and #BuckeyeNation could be a part of it.”

Chrisman and Eliason have been dating for about a year, the Dispatch reported, but they grew up as neighbors and have known each other since childhood.

These striking photographs show an out of this world proposal as a man got down on one knee – silhouetted against the Milky Way.

Romantic Connor McLaren, 23, planned the occasion three months ahead so it would fall on the fifth anniversary of the day he met his now-fiancée Jaimie McGregor, 29. The sweet photos show the couple, from Perth, Perthshire, Scotland, silhouetted against a myriad of stars on top of Glen Lyon, Perth and Kinross.

They went for a drive up the mountain at about 3 a.m., which freelance photographer McLaren had perfectly timed due to the light conditions required to see the Milky Way.

He had previously taken a picture of them holding hands, silhouetted against the starry sky, and knew how much it meant to McGregor, who works at a jeweler. The man snapped up a ruby and diamond ring the shop was selling, and hid it for three months, knowing she was disappointed it was no longer for sale. McLaren even told McGregor’s boss of his plans to pop the question, and they came up with a story about how an old lady had bought the platinum ring.

On March 31, the day of the proposal, the temperature was about 36 degrees Fahrenheit, as the couple hiked for 40 minutes to get to the spot in the early hours of the morning.

“When I brought it out she was totally shocked. I think she was surprised at how organized it all was,” the future groom said. “To take photos of the Milky Way, you can’t do it when the moon is out, or in summer when it is too bright, or in winter when it’s below the horizon.”

Student creates ‘promposal’ website for peers to avoid ‘awkward situations’ while looking for dates

A Utah high school student has created a website to act as a sort of wingman for her entire school.

Hannah Rogers, a senior at American Fork High School, designed a website that eases the stress for those looking for dates to prom. Rogers said she came up with the idea for the website – called Beenasked – after taking an entrepreneurship class that tasked students with finding a solution to a real-life problem, Fox 13 reported.

While she was in the class, Rogers told Fox 13 it was Homecoming season and was “really chaotic” for students to navigate between who had and had not been asked to the school dance.

“So I came up with the idea of creating a website where you could see everyone’s names, who had and hadn’t been asked to a dance, so you didn’t accidentally ask someone that’s already been asked and get yourself out of that awkward situation,” she said.

For now, the website is only comprised of American Fork High School students who agreed to participate in a survey and have their names published.

“This is our list, everyone whose name is in gold has a date to prom, and anyone whose name is in black still hasn’t asked anyone or hasn’t been asked,” Rogers said to Fox 13, while scrolling through the list of students who opted into the survey.

In addition to the list of those who have been asked, and those still available, the teen’s website includes “promposal” ideas and discounts on prom services such as clothing, activities, dinner and transportation.

The inclusion of the deals section, which features mostly local businesses, was after Rogers learned that many of her classmates wanted to attend school dances, but did not have the money.

“It’s too expensive, kids just can’t afford it, and they don’t know who to ask,” she explained.

Now the “one-stop-shop” as she calls it, provides everything students may need to set up their perfect prom night.

“That’s really the whole point, to support our local businesses and support our students. It’s really a win-win for everyone,” said Rogers.

Though she insists the site is “not a dating app,” it is “trying to help students meet other students to go on dates with.”

Hannah, who graduates this year, is hoping to eventually expand Beenasked to other schools and school districts.

Couple shamed for ‘pathetic’ wedding catering: ‘This makes more sense for toddlers’

This couple may want to hold off on sending out thank you notes after a guest reportedly shamed their wedding day spread on social media.

Photos of a couple’s alleged wedding day catering have been getting ridiculed online after a guest allegedly uploaded them to a wedding shaming group on Facebook.

According to photos and comments reported by Daily Mail, the couple was serving hundreds of slices of “plastic cheese” on a tray, along with cut up vegetables and fruit – some of which still had stickers on the skin.

BRIDE CLAIMS ‘HUGELY PREGNANT’ BRIDESMAID PAL OWES HER A $30G WEDDING ‘DO-OVER’ FOR UPSTAGING HER

“A wedding feast for your eyes,” the guest reportedly captioned the uploaded images.

The humble spread was called “pathetic” in a series of critical comments, stating the food looked more like a toddler’s birthday party than a wedding reception.

“This is basically what we served at my three-year-old’s birthday party. Except we had quiche and strawberries,” one commenter wrote.

“This makes more sense for toddlers than a wedding, in my humble opinion,” another added.

“This looks like a catering spread for work – a low budget one,” one person reportedly wrote.

“They took the time to unwrap hundreds of slices of fake cheese but couldn’t be bothered to take the sticker off the fruit?” one questioned.

In addition to the food display, commenters reportedly questioned why there was a heap of unfolded napkins nearby.

However, there were some in the wedding shaming group that reportedly defended the couple’s actions, stating that weddings are expensive and maybe the couple could not afford anything more than the modest offerings.

According to The Knot’s 2017 Real Weddings Study, couples in the United States can spend an average of $33,391 on their wedding, with $9,520 of that spent on catering alone – excluding the wedding cake, which reportedly ranges from $540 – $1,097 on average.

The Instagram-famous couple who found themselves at the center of a social media firestorm for a “stupid, ridiculous” photo op at an infinity pool’s edge have continued to defend the image they say was edited for “dramatization” and revealed how they afford to glamorously travel full time.

Earlier this week, Kelly Castille and Kody Workman told Fox News that they were safe the entire time they staged their dangling kiss picture at a resort in in Ubud, in Bali, Indonesia, as there was a pool beneath a suspended Castille.

“We aren’t going to feed into the negativity on this,” the American couple wrote in an email on April 13, of the critics who declared them “morons” for evidently putting themselves in harm’s way for the sake of a picture. “We have received so much love, support, kindness and thoughtful messages from friends, family and our community. This is something we are very happy about, an aspect of this that we find ourselves immensely proud of.”

LIVING NEAR A NATIONAL PARK OR NATURE RESERVE CAN MAKE YOU HEALTHIER AND WEALTHIER, STUDY SUGGESTS

“Our account is about creativity, photography, kindness, perspective, and above all… positivity. Whether a photo does well or not, whether it is perceived one way or another, is irrelevant to us,” the Louisiana woman and the Michigan man continued. “We post what we love and what we believe showcases our happiness, our adventures, [and] our creativity.

“This has become a bigger deal than we could have ever imagined and we, going forward only wish to discuss positive things and the reality behind the photo,” they concluded.

As for their enviable lifestyle of “long-term travel,” Castille, 33, and Workman, 32, told Fox News that they met while traveling in Panama in October 2017 – and have been together ever since. Before their paths crossed, they each say they worked hard for “many, many years,” saving as much money as they could, to make travel “more of a lifestyle.”

In May 2018, the pair launched a joint Instagram account @positravelty, where they share curated snaps of their exotic life and times with their following of 90,000. Castille and Workman said that though they became more active in the Instagram “travel community” in August 2018 – with great success – pursuing their unconventional livelihood is not as easy as it looks.

“A misconception with Instagram is that everything is lavish,” the duo said. “When you consider the hours spent taking photos, editing in post, writing captions, keeping up with our friends and community, and the time spent traveling from one location to another… it is a lot of work.”

“We have so many 14-hour days of what is now our form of work, but we absolutely love it,” the lovebirds continued. “We wouldn’t trade it for the world, no matter how little sleep we typically get.”

Castille and Workman say they wouldn’t trade in their bohemian lifestyle for the world, despite being demanding in its own right. Though they don’t know just where their next excursion will take them, they’re sure it will be grand.

“We are absolutely loving our adventures, every day is new and special. We don’t actually have concrete plans for what is ‘next,’” the bon vivants said. “The beauty of long-term travel is flexibility and we like to keep our options open.”

Acknowledging that though their worldly way of living is incredibly aspirational for many, Castille and Workman say that “anybody can do what we are doing” with enough chutzpah.

“It just takes motivation, determination, and the willingness to take a risk at a new beginning,” they said. “We don’t want to incorrectly lead others to believe that we are ‘rich’ or carrying a silver spoon.”

“If there is something you are passionate about, something you truly love to do, you will take the measures to make it happen,” they continued. “Our hard work, individually, and now our openness, honesty and positivity together are what have brought us to where we can be seen today.”

One angry bride claims one of her bridesmaids owes her a $30,000 “do-over” for the big day, alleging that the “hugely pregnant” friend stole the show with her “electric personality” and “tall, incredibly attractive” husband.

In recent days, Reddit user Ignoredbride took to the social forum to share the woeful tale of how her wedding was all but ruined by her friend Anna. The newlywed revealed that she tied the knot six weeks ago, and had planned for the big day for “three full years” — though she never expected her friend would steal her thunder in such devastating manner. According to the author, Anna was six months pregnant at the time of the nuptials, and had a newlywed glow of her own, having gotten married recently as well.

“[Anna] was hugely pregnant, and didn’t refrain from showing it off. We’re both fairly young (25) and in my husband’s culture, getting pregnant before late 20s/30s, married or not, is basically a teenage pregnancy and drew ATTENTION,” Ignoredbride opined online. “She also has a vibrant personality and has a way of eclipsing everyone around her. Her husband is also very tall and incredibly attractive, which drew a lot of attention.”

According to the disgruntled bride, throughout the celebration “all anyone spoke about or of was Anna’s pregnancy and her attractive husband.”

“Even in the line, people were asking about that ‘electric woman’ and of her pregnancy/marriage/life,” the Redditor recalled. “When they got up to dance, all eyes were on them.”

The bride was apparently so upset by the turn of events, she left halfway through her reception “in tears,” and skipped the morning brunch the next day.

“I can’t even look at the pictures without crying and desperately want a do-over,” Ignoredbride lamented. “I honestly feel like Anna owes me a wedding and did all of this as revenge for me offending her years ago. Am I wrong?”

Her inquiry soon sparked over 740 comments, with fellow Redditors quickly christening the woman a “bridezilla” and voicing no sympathy for the sad tale.

“If anything it was probably just a few people asking about the baby and [the author] greatly exaggerated because she’s jealous,” one commenter said.

“In what country is being 25, married, and pregnant considered a ‘teenage pregnancy’?” another cried.

“People get married and pregnant… and asking someone to put their family planning on hold for your wedding is ridiculously selfish,” another offered. “I think you are probably over-estimating how much attention everyone paid to Anna and her husband, but if they DID totally eclipse you on your wedding day JUST by being attractive, pregnant, and dancing (all completely normal activities) you must be a really boring person.”

Others, meanwhile, declared that Ignoredbride’s despondency stemmed from an unhealthy fixation on her wedding, which she was taking out on Anna.

“OP is overly obsessed with her own wedding. When you put something on a pedestal that high, it’s always a disappointment,” one Redditor argued.

“I think that’s whats happening to [Ignoredbride.] She is experiencing the wedding downer, and is misplacing her disappointment in all of that work essentially being done and over with now that the wedding is over, onto her friend, who really has done nothing wrong other than being a sparkling personality and visibly happily married and with child,” another agreed.

The slew of available mobile dating apps and the advent of social media has apparently given rise to a relatively new, altogether horrible dating trend: cloaking.

“Cloaking is when a person doesn’t just stand you up for a date, they also block you on any app that you’ve previously communicated on,” said Rachel Thompson, a Mashable contributor who shared her experience being “cloaked” for the first time earlier this month.

BREADCRUMBING, BENCHING, AND OTHER MILLENNIAL DATING TERMS YOU NEED TO KNOW

Mashable confirmed that Thompson herself coined the phrase “cloaking,” a practice she likens to a person using a cloaking device to conceal themselves from sight. In this case, however, the “cloaker” — i.e., the rude dating partner — conceals himself/herself from any and all possible communication after standing up a date.

For example, Thompson describes how she met a match through Hinge, and conversed with him on the app before exchanging information and agreeing to meet for dinner. But upon arrival, he was nowhere to be seen — and the record of their conversation disappeared from Hinge, as he had deleted his profile. He also stopped responding via iMessage or Whatsapp.

Subsequent attempts to reach him via social media proved fruitless, though Thompson said she was able to find out his last name and message him on Facebook, though he never responded.

COUPLE’S ‘SWAPPER’ SLEEPING ARRANGEMENT HAS TWITTER IN DISBELIEF

Since the term “cloaking” doesn’t appear to exist prior to Thompson’s experience — at least in terms of dating — anecdotes of being #cloaked are not as widely available online. That doesn’t mean the trend originated with this specific incident; “cloaking” simply appears to simply be a harsher version of “ghosting,” during which one party stops responding to texts or attempts to communicate from the other. True “ghosts,” however, do sometimes turn back up, and won’t necessarily delete their own profiles in an attempt to distance themselves from a match.

Thompson further claimed that after doing a little online research, she was far from the only person to get straight-up cloaked.

“When I reached out on Twitter, so many people had similar experiences,” Thompson said.

Thompson likely isn’t exaggerating: In a 2018 poll of millennials conducted by Cupid’s Pulse, 78 percent admitted to having been ghosted at least once. Prior generations, too, had the ability to “ghost” if not “cloak,” only they didn’t have the hashtag-able terms millennials so often use to define their experiences.

“With the onset of technology and social media when it comes to dating, it’s harder to be in a relationship, so [millennials] want to be able to define what that relationship is,” Cupid’s Pulse founder Laurie BIzzoco told Fox News in 2018.

Sam Phillips fell asleep cuddling his girlfriend, Jade, last week. But when the 23-year-old woke up, his legs were a little more sun-kissed than he remembered.

TEEN’S POST-SPRAY TAN SELFIE GOES VIRAL

“Woke up thinking I had a big bruise on my leg,” Phillips wrote on Twitter.

However, the man quickly discovered the “bruise” wasn’t a bruise at all, but a stain from his partner’s fake tan.

Jade had apparently gotten a fake tan earlier in the day. After the pair cuddled, Phillips was left with a streak of brown on his thighs and his girlfriend had a large mark on her calf that aligned with his new tan.

Phillips, though, is not the first man to have experienced this level of self-tan fail as evidenced by the hundreds of comments on his post.

Luckily for Phillips, he won’t have to wait until the tan fades. To remove a bad self-tan, home remedies such as mixing lemon juice and baking powder into a tan-fading paste, or simply exfoliating the skin can help get you back to your normal shade quicker.
