Florida girl, 6, arrested for battery by school resource officer for temper tantrum: report

A Florida grandmother claims her 6-year-old granddaughter was arrested by a resource officer after throwing a temper tantrum at school — which she says happened because the child suffers from sleep apnea.

Meralyn Kirkland says the child, Kaia Rolle, was acting out at Lucious and Emma Nixon Academy, a charter school in Orlando, as a result of lack of sleep. The 6-year-old was then brought to the principal’s office.

CALIFORNIA WOMAN CAUGHT PUSHING $6,000 WORTH OF STOLEN QUARTERS IN BABY STROLLER, POLICE SAY

Kirkland told WKMG-TV that while there, a school staff employee grabbed Kaia’s wrists, sparking her to lash out and kick her legs. The school resource officer — Officer Dennis Turner, of the Orlando Police Department — handcuffed Kaia and transported her to the Juvenile Assessment Center in Orlando on a battery charge.

Her grandmother said the child was fingerprinted and had her mugshot taken.

The department didn’t immediately return Fox News’ request for comment. Sgt. David Baker told the news outlet that for arrests of people under the age of 12, officers are required to get permission from their watch commander — which he said Turner did not do.

TEXAS MAN WANTED FOR DIVORCING HIS WIFE WITHOUT HER KNOWLEDGE

Kirkland claims that when she told Turner the 6-year-old has sleep apnea, which the family is “working on getting resolved,” the officer didn’t understand why that would be an excuse for the child.

“He says, ‘Well, I have sleep apnea, and I don’t behave like that,'” Kirkland claimed the officer told her.

Kirkland questioned how a child could be arrested for kicking somebody.

“How do you do that to a 6-year-old child and because she kicked somebody? … A literal mug shot of a 6-year-old girl,” she said. “No 6-year-old child should be able to tell somebody that they had handcuffs on them and they were riding in the back of a police car and taken to a juvenile center to be fingerprinted, mug shot.”

Turner also reportedly arrested an 8-year-old that day in a separate incident on Thursday, according to WKMG. Baker told the news outlet Turner did not request permission for that child’s arrest, either. Authorities said an internal investigation is ongoing.

Kirkland says Kaia is supposed to report to court Oct. 16 and if she doesn’t a warrant will be issued for her arrest.

California police saw a woman struggling to push a baby stroller — but it wasn’t a baby she was trying to move.

Darrin Fritz, 29, was pushing roughly $6,000 in quarters that she had allegedly stolen during a burglary, investigators said. Officers with the Bakersfield Police Department noticed Fritz struggling with the stroller, and went to conduct a welfare check.

Authorities said after she was apprehended, Fritz led police to the home she had allegedly just burglarized.

Fritz was arrested and charged with suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, possession of methamphetamine, resisting arrest and two outstanding misdemeanor warrants.

Texas man wanted for divorcing his wife without her knowledge

A Texas man is wanted by authorities for divorcing his wife — apparently without her knowledge.

Paul Nixon, 51, allegedly broke it off from his wife using forged documents behind her back, authorities claimed. Nixon’s wife told investigators on May 14 the man “filed for divorce and completed the entire proceedings without her knowledge or consent and that the court had already completed all hearings and filed the final divorce decree.”

Nixon, of Harris County, submitted “several forged documents and false information” to a district court, “including a forged waiver of service” and a forged signature from a notary public in an effort to divorce his wife,” according to a press release posted on the constable’s Facebook page.

Nixon’s wife “was very surprised,” Constable Mark Herman told the New York Post. “In this particular case, the gentleman decided to go through a divorce but the only problem is, he left his wife out of the process. And that’s a violation of the law here in Texas.”

The constable said Nixon’s wife “started finding things showing that he was spending money on jewelry, so she confronted him and he told her that they were actually divorced.”

Nixon and his wife were only married for a “couple of years” before he moved forward with their divorce, without her.

The divorce decree has been vacated since it was filed fraudulently, officials said. Herman said Nixon and his wife “are still legally married.”

Nixon is wanted for aggravated perjury and has a no-bond warrant out for his arrest.

He couldn’t believe his eyes.

Robert Wilson Barnes bought a sandwich at a Jimmy John’s restaurant recently for himself and his wife and just before they were about to dig in, he noticed black writing on the wrapper: ‘B**CH.”

Intent on defending his wife’s honor, Barnes said on Facebook that he returned to the store (while fuming) and asked to speak to the manager.

“He looked confused, so I pointed at the writing on the sandwich and demanded that he tells me why someone felt the need to write it on my wife’s sandwich,” he posted.

He said the manager told him that his wife ordered a BLT with cheese.

Kansas man moves into animal shelter to help get dog adopted

A Kansas man went above and beyond to help man’s best friend — even moving into an animal shelter to comfort a dog in need of adoption.

The dog, named Queen, is a 3-year-old terrier mix available for adoption at Great Plains Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Merriam, Kan., Fox 4 reported.

Scott Poore, who has dedicated his life to animals through his organization “Mission Driven,” said he moved into the shelter earlier this week to stay with Queen when he heard the dog was having trouble getting adopted and seemed depressed. The animal has been living in the shelter for over 400 days.

Ohio deputies pull over Amish buggy with stereo system inside

Police in Ohio had a curious encounter with two Amish men over the weekend, pulling over their buggy to discover it had been rigged with a massive stereo system.

Deputies stopped the buggy around 1 a.m. Sunday and found a 12-pack of Michelob Ultra on top of the vehicle with several open bottles inside, according to WKBN. The men– who come from a community which largely shuns alcohol and modern technology– bailed out of the buggy so fast that the horse continued pulling the empty coach down the road.

“I`ve never operated an Amish buggy with a horse, but I`m told that the horse will know the way home regardless of [whether] the operator is awake or even in the buggy, and that horse went a little further down the road and onto an oil/gas well road and stopped,” Trumbull County Chief Deputy Joe Dragovich told Fox 8.

Deputies then towed the buggy and found someone to take care of the horse until the owners come forward.

UTAH INTRUDER ALLEGEDLY BROKE INTO WOMAN’S HOME, STARED AT HER WHILE SHE SLEPT: REPORT

In a rite of passage known as Rumspringa, young members of the Amish community are allowed to experiment with the influences of the outside world, but DUI laws still apply. “Unfortunately, they`re not licensed as far as the buggy goes, but it is a vehicle, it`s on the roadway and the OVI laws do apply. You`re not allowed to drink and drive or operate a buggy,” Dragovich said.

Once authorities identify the two men, they could be charged with failure to comply with the deputy’s commands.

“Maybe there`s just that fear of the consequences and that would be a reality check for them, that there are consequences, but I encourage them to come forward and get their buggy and horse,” said Dragovich.

A nearly naked man was recorded on video early Tuesday running after a school bus in the middle of a California freeway and trying to force his way in.

The bizarre incident took place on Interstate 5 in Newhall, about an hour’s drive north of Los Angeles. The unidentified man could be seen pounding on the bus windows as it sat in bumper-to-bumper traffic.

“The guy started getting closer and closer,” the driver later told Los Angeles’ Fox 11. “I have no idea why he approached us. Everything was locked because we were driving. We never opened the door.”

The bus had just dropped students off at school and was carrying other drivers heading back to the bus yard, according to the station.

The freeway was briefly shut down while authorities detained the suspect, officials said.

Shortly before the freeway incident, the suspect was captured on surveillance video breaking into the Newhall Church of Nazarene.

Fire at Australia lab causes 100 containers of cattle semen worth thousands to explode

A building in Australia that houses a cattle breeding laboratory was destroyed by a fire that wiped out more than 100 cryogenic cylinders filled with valuable bull semen, according to officials.

The Yarram Herds Services’s building, located in the Gippsland region, caught fire around 3 a.m. Tuesday and it took 10 fire crews two hours to contain.

MAN INJECTED HIMSELF WITH SEMEN IN ATTEMPT TO RELIEVE BACK PAIN

Inside the facility were cylinders of bull semen worth thousands of dollars, according to Aaron Thomas, the company’s committee vice-chairman who told Australia’s ABC the loss was a “huge blow” for farmers.

“The actual cylinders are worth between $500 and $1,000 per unit but the semen inside them varies in price,” he said. “We’re coming into the AI (artifical insemination) season so there would have been substantial amounts of semen inside the tanks that we’ve lost, which was owned by our local farmers, and it can range in value from $5 per straw to $95 per straw.”

Thomas said equipment, in addition to the semen, was destroyed in the fire.

“A lot of farmers would have semen stock in the building in those tanks, preparing for AI, so we’ve got that plus all of our herd-testing equipment that was in there as well,” he told the news outlet. “So this is significant damage and it is going to have a flow-on effect on Yarram, especially after the drought that Yarram district has experienced over the last 12 months.”

Fire officials said the blaze was challenging for firefighters, as the semen inside the cylinders “was rapidly expanding and essentially the lids of the cryogenic cylinders were just popping off the top and projectiles were being thrown from the building.”

Sean Spicer debuts on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ shimmying to Spice Girls song in neon-green ruffled shirt

Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer made his colorful and proudly outlandish “Dancing With the Stars” debut on Monday night wearing a neon-green ruffled shirt as he shimmied to the Spice Girls song “Spice up Your Life” in a salsa routine.

GIFs of Spicer started circulating on social media immediately following his performance. Many people also tweeted their reactions to his bold shirt.

Spicer’s energetic performance concluded with confetti and he got a standing ovation from the audience, but the show’s judges did not seem impressed, giving him a total score of 12 out of 30.

During the “Dancing With the Stars” 2019 premiere Monday, Spicer’s dance partner, Lindsay Arnold, said his skills were “pre-preschool-level.”

“I’ve never really cared what they think,” Spicer said of The Times. “I’m not going to care now.”

He told Fox News last month, “I think Tom has been a great host. And I firmly believe when the season is over he’s probably going to realize bringing a diverse group of people together, who can interact in a fun, civil and respectful way, is actually a way we can move the country forward in a positive way. And it will make this show an example of how Americans can disagree about politics and tune into good entertainment shows and keep their politics at bay.”

Spicer said he was approached about the dancing show after he left the White House in 2017, but he didn’t think the timing was right then to join the cast.

“This is an opportunity to have some fun,” Spicer told Mediaite. “I’m in this because I enjoy it.”
