Coyote on Arizona airport’s airfield forces flights to briefly circle runway

If cartoons have taught us anything, it’s that these types of wily little coyotes are always causing trouble.

Arrivals at Arizona’s Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport were briefly delayed after a coyote got loose on the airfield on Monday morning, airport officials told Fox News.

“Airfield staffers were able to coax it to a gate where it exited toward the mostly dry riverbed which borders Phoenix Sky Harbor on the south,” a spokesperson for Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) confirmed.

Airport operations were largely unaffected, the spokesperson added, with the exception of three incoming flights which were forced to briefly circle the runways until airport staffers were able to confirm the airfield was clear.

The airport returned to normal operations shortly afterward.

PHX officials did not say whether the airport plans to institute further coyote-repelling measures, like employing the use of unreliable Acme products, or painting a fake runway on a rock and allowing the coyote to run into it, full-speed.

UK man jailed for making hoax bomb scare to delay his flight

A man was sent to jail for 16 months Friday for calling in a bogus bomb threat at a London airport because he was running late and wanted to delay his flight.

Rashidul Islam, 32, was headed from his home in Cricklewood, north London, to Gatwick Airport on May 4 to catch an evening flight to Morocco to visit his fiance, authorities said.

According to authorities, Islam first ran into krush-hour traffic delays when his train to the airport unexpectedly ended earlier – at the St. Pancras stop. He jumped into a taxi in the center of London but hit further congestion.

About 45 minutes before his easyJet flight was set to take off, Islam anonymously called police and said, “Someone may have a bomb on the plane. You need to delay the flight,” according to a Crown Prosecution Service spokesman.

Islam made two further phone threats minutes later, causing the crew of the 5:40 p.m. flight to Marrakesh to be evacuated and all 147 passengers to be re-checked by security.

The hoax resulted in a three-hour delay at Britain’s second-busiest airport on a holiday weekend.  It cost easyJet around $39,000, the airline said.

Islam was arrested after police traced his call.

He told authorities that he had panicked about missing his flight as he would not be able to afford another ticket.

Islam was sentenced Friday to 16 months in jail after pleading guilty to communicating false information.

“This sentence should send a message that creating a bomb scare is no trivial matter. These threats have a major impact on everyone in the airport – diverting multiple agencies from core duties such as assisting passengers, providing security or carrying out counter-terrorism checks,” prosecutor Natalie Smith said in a statement.

TSA shares ‘Top 10 Most Unusual Finds’ of 2019

Well, that’s not gonna fly.

The TSA has revealed its “Top Ten Most Unusual Finds” of 2019 — and, as the name promises, many of those finds are exceedingly strange.

TSA APOLOGIZES TO NATIVE AMERICAN WOMAN ‘HUMILIATED’ DURING SECURITY SCREENING

As seen in a cheeky video released by the agency on its official Twitter account, the confiscated items run the gamut from dangerous to more “unique” and “offbeat” finds.

The San Jose International Airport kicked off the list at No. 10 with, naturally, a set of three samurai swords of varying lengths.

“This one’s too small, this one’s too big, this one’s just right…eh, I’ll bring all three!” TSA’s sharp-witted comment read.

Martial arts sais were confiscated from a passenger at New York’s LaGuardia Airport. (TSA)

The Anchorage International Airport made the list at No. 9 with flares, followed by a two-for-one gun-switchblade found at Miami International Airport, at No. 8. And someone at the Orlando International Airport deviated from the usual dangerous items and brought an airbag, which came in at No. 7.

Coming in at Nos. 6, 5, 4 and 3, respectively, were: a power saw at Connecticut’s Bradley International Airport; martial arts sais – metal piercing weapons with a central blade – at LaGuardia Airport in New York; a blow-dart gun at Orlando Melbourne International Airport; and a 15-inch ring-necked snake at New Jersey’s Newark Airport,

Coming in at No. 2 was a very conspicuous butcher knife, taken at Tri-Cities Airport in Tennessee. But even that — and all of the weird and wild finds before it — were nothing compared to the top spot.

After nearly a minute-and-a-half, the TSA’s video revealed its strangest find of 2019 – and the honor goes to Juneau International Airport in Alaska, or more specifically, to the passenger who attempted to carry on a sack full of moose poop.

According to the TSA’s website, passengers are not permitted to fly with flammables or weapons of any sort — but there are no rules against traveling with feces. As the TSA points out, that’s up the airline.

Chicago airports install ‘Cannabis Amnesty Boxes’ for passengers to dispose of marijuana before flights

Puff, puff, toss.

Two of Chicago’s airports, O’Hare International Airport and Midway Airport, have installed “Cannabis Amnesty Boxes” for passengers to dispose of their recreational marijuana before boarding their flights.

CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE BANS ‘OFFENSIVE’ CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES

The boxes, which were installed last week to coincide with the Jan. 1 legalization of weed in the state, are located near TSA checkpoints.

Though TSA and police are not targeting passengers carrying marijuana – it is legal to have the substance in the state’s airports – it is still illegal to fly with any drug, as airspace is regulated by the federal government and the drug is still illegal under federal law.

TSA does not actively search for “marijuana or cannabis-infused products” at security checkpoints, but the agents are “obligated to report the discovery of any drugs or substances that are illegal under federal law,” a spokesperson for the TSA told Fox News. Local police then determine what further action to take, if any.

The two Chicago airports are not the first to install cannabis disposal boxes, as both McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas and Colorado Springs Airport in Colorado have also installed amnesty boxes for passengers who need to surrender their marijuana before flights.

Man urinates in airport terminal in front of horrified passengers

A shocking video of a man urinating in an airport terminal has the Internet completely horrified.

The pissy offense caught on camera was shared by the Instagram account @PassengerShaming on Tuesday. It’s not clear when or at what airport the incident occurred.

In the video, which has been viewed more than 200,000 times, the unidentified man is seen sitting beside a number of passengers. With his pants unzipped and his unmentionables out, he begins to urinate on the floor.

Some passengers can be seen watching the man in shock. Instagram users were also disgusted by the video.

“I hope he was arrested,” one Instagram user commented, while another wrote, “My dog would know better than to do that. People disgust me.”

“Why isn’t anyone doing anything about this. Just sitting there watching??” someone else wondered.

Another person joked, “Poker face game is strong.”

There was at least one person who came to the man’s defense, at least jokingly. “Mind your own business,” the person wrote. “Let the man get some relief or give him a hand.”

Travel horror stories, of course, are nothing new. Last year, @ShamingPassengers published a video of a man shaving his head during a flight.

The bald United Airlines passenger was filmed using an electric razor while shaving his head in his business-class seat. What’s more, the flight attendants walked past him and failed to tell him to stop.
