Nevada homeowner arrested in shooting death of teen, claims he heard gunfire nearby: report

A homeowner in Nevada – who claimed he called police after hearing gunshots – was arrested early Friday after allegedly taking matters into his own hands before cops could arrive, using his own gun to fire at two 17-year-olds, killing one of them, a report said.

Ventriloquist Terry Fator reveals why he pulled Trump puppet from Vegas show, says the Left takes jokes too personally

Ventriloquist Terry Fator said Saturday that he was pulling the president’s puppet from his Las Vegas act because he wants everyone to enjoy his show.

Fator, who won America’s Got Talent in 2007 and thereafter had an 11-year residency at The Mirage Hotel, appeared on “Fox & Friends: Weekend” with host Pete Hegseth.

During the interview, he explained he created a puppet of Trump at the time he announced his candidacy at the beginning of the 2016 election.

TRUMP PUPPET CUT FROM VEGAS ACT OVER HOTEL’S CONCERN ABOUT ‘NASTIER’ POLITICAL CLIMATE: REPORT

“And I, like most of the people, didn’t think he was going to win. And, I was a supporter. I thought it would be great to get a businessman to be the president. It’d be wonderful,” he said.

“You didn’t create me. I created me,” the president’s puppet retorted.

“Okay, whatever,” Fator shot back.

“This was me making the decision because I had always said I don’t want to be political,” he told Hegseth.

“It got to a point where you’d just see people tense up when I would bring him out,” he continued. “It’s a joke!”

“As a conservative, I don’t get my feelings hurt when you make fun of…my side. I did an Obama joke that was completely and totally innocuous, it was not political, and I’m telling you the press in Vegas went crazy,” Fator continued.

EDDIE MURPHY, DAVE CHAPPELLE, AND MORE COMEDIANS WEIGH IN, BLUNTLY, ON ‘CANCEL CULTURE’

“It’s weird. When the Left hears a joke, they take it personally. When the Right hears a joke, we think it’s funny. We don’t take it personally,” he noted.

Earlier this week, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that the Mirage asked him to make the change to avoid escalating the political divide.

“They said, ‘This political season is very, very, very rough and it’s going to get nastier. Would you mind?’ I said, ‘Fine, I’ll do it,’” Fator told the Review-Journal.

Fator said the hotel has never asked him to make a change in his show before.

“When they ask politely, I do it,” he said. “We have a good relationship. It’s a give and take. I’m not a diva. I’m not going to go off and say, ‘Screw you’ when they ask me to do something.”

He subsequently clarified, however, that the Mirage did not ask him to remove the puppet, but he did so a few months ago in his “ever-evolving changes to [his] show.”

“It was a miscommunication between my team and me, where someone from my team said they thought the Mirage would be happy if the show were less political,” Fator told the Review-Journal Monday. “The Mirage didn’t ask me to make any changes to my show.”

While Trump is gone from Fator’s upcoming Christmas show, “A Very Terry Christmas 2, The Sequel,” and the regular show for the foreseeable future, the performer plans to use the commander-in-chief in a series of Instagram and YouTube videos. Along with a puppet version of Bernie Sanders, puppet Trump will host a variety show à la Donny and Marie Osmond.

Other celebrity puppets in his Christmas show will include Frank Sinatra, Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Justin Bieber, David Bowie and Bing Crosby.

Hegseth asked the president’s puppet how he felt about no longer being a part of the show.

“I’ve been impeached!” the puppet exclaimed.

Is Las Vegas retiring ‘What happens here, stays here’? Report claims Sin City may introduce new slogan

What happens in Vegas no longer stays in Vegas — at least according to recent reports.

Yes, you read that right. The incredibly popular — and sometimes controversial — tagline of Sin City may just be getting an update, according to a local report. And although R&R Partners, the marketing agency that handles Las Vegas’ slogans, did not officially release any news regarding a new tagline, that didn’t stop Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler from hinting at the upcoming rollout, seemingly set for Jan. 26.

Tyler reportedly led the crowd in a chant of the alleged slogan at an Aerosmith concert in Sin City on Tuesday, the Las Vegas Review Journal reports. Instead of shouting, “What happens here, stays here,” Steven led the crowd in a chant of, “What happens here, only happens here,” according to the outlet.

Various Las Vegas acts, such as Shania Twain and Brian Newman, have all shared announcements hinting at some sort of “secret” coming in January, as well.

The original “What happens here, stays here” phrase was launched in 2003, and though the city retired it briefly in 2017, it was brought back in early 2018. However, if the Review-Journal’s report is to be believed, it appears Las Vegas is officially ready to move forward with a new iteration — a nearly exact replica, with only two words changed.

The new slogan was reportedly created by Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) and R&R Partners.

A spokesperson for LVCVA and R&R Partners would not confirm the change to Fox News, though the latter commented, “What happens here, still stays here…. The rest you’ll have to wait to find out on Jan. 26.”

Trump puppet cut from Vegas act over hotel’s concern about ‘nastier’ political climate: report

It seems “cancel culture” has even struck the puppet world.

Las Vegas headliner Terry Fator is dropping the puppet version of President Trump from his ventriloquism show on the city’s famed Strip at the request of the hotel where he performs, according to a report.

Puppet Trump has been a staple of Fator’s act for years, but The Mirage asked the ventriloquist to make the change to avoid escalating the political divide in an already polarized country, The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

“They said, ‘This political season is very, very, very rough and it’s going to get nastier. Would you mind?’ I said, ‘Fine, I’ll do it,’” Fator told the Review-Journal.

Fator has made several other changes to his long-running show this year, including getting rid of his band and replacing his wife who got tired of guest-starring with pre-recorded comedian Fred Willard. Fator’s wife makes a video cameo, The Review-Journal reported.

Las Vegas police K-9 stabbed repeatedly by suspect ‘doing extremely well’ in recovery

A Las Vegas police K-9 was recovering Tuesday after being stabbed by a man who refused to come down from a roof, officials said.

“Hunter,” a Belgian Malinois, was stabbed multiple times on Saturday by 27-year-old Joseph Arquilla, investigators said. Arquilla had climbed onto the roof of a business around midnight and wouldn’t come down.

Police officers responded to the scene and once Arquilla came down around 4:45 a.m., he allegedly stabbed Hunter repeatedly — until his knife blade broke, KVVU-TV reported.

The K-9 was injured on the left side of his neck, just below his ear, according to photos posted online by the police department. Authorities said he “was lucky that the attacker’s blade broke at some point during the assault when it struck the dog’s collar, making it harder for the wounds to penetrate deeply.”

Lady Gaga startled her fans in Las Vegas on Thursday night by taking a tumble off the stage during her performance, according to videos posted on social media.

The “Pokerface” singer was seen in videos in the arms of a fan who she had invited onstage.

LADY GAGA ASKED ABOUT ‘FORTNITE’ AND FANS ANSWERED

Suddenly, the fan and Gaga slip off the edge of the stage, with Gaga landing on her back and the fan on top of her. Fans seated nearby rush to help them.

“We legitimately thought she was dead,” a fan posted on Reddit, according to the BBC.

According to social media posts, the star was soon back at her piano, performing another song – and seemingly not seriously hurt.

Gaga has had her share of physical issues over the years.

In 2017 she announced she was suffering from fibromyalgia, a chronic pain condition that prompted her to cancel a leg of her concert tour.

In 2013, Gaga suffered a hip fracture that required her to get a replacement joint, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The star’s current Las Vegas residency is scheduled to continue through May 16, according to the MGM Resorts website.

Miley Cyrus stalker arrested after allegedly saying ‘life’s mission’ was to impregnate singer

A seemingly deranged Miley Cyrus fan who was arrested at her show Saturday night reportedly told her security team it was his “life’s mission to impregnate” the superstar.

David Rumsey, 42, was in the crowd of her iHeartRadio Music Festival set in Las Vegas when Cyrus’s security team spotted him, TMZ reported. He was detained and later arrested.

The man was reportedly on the team’s “watch list” because he allegedly has made threats against the “Wrecking Ball” singer in the past.

Rumsey also has been active on Twitter in his quest to reach Cyrus. As noted by the tabloid news outlet, Rumsey tweets often about the 26-year-old, most recently before her show last weekend.

Rumsey later followed up that he was “hoping not to be back at my room. I don’t want you to have to go to motel 6. He has repeatedly tweeted that he loves Cyrus, and that he can’t wait to see her — and has even tweeted at her famous father, Billy Ray Cyrus.

‘Storm Area 51’ has Nevada tour owner pausing trips, warning visitors: ‘They take that whole place seriously’

When the masses possibly descend on the rural Nevada landscape later this month for the viral “Storm Area 51” event and related festivals that have popped up after its creation, don’t expect to set out for the full alien experience with Will Tryon’s tour company.

Area 51 is popularly known as the site of rumored government studies of outer space aliens. The “Storm Area 51” Facebook event went viral in July as people pledged to crash the secret military base in an attempt to “see them aliens.” More than 3 million Facebook users have now said they are going, with over 1.4 million replying they were interested.

After going viral, the event — which started as a joke — spurred two rural Nevada counties to draft emergency declarations, with local law enforcement planning to team resources with the state and neighboring counties ahead of the Sept. 20-22 events.

Tryon, the owner of Las Vegas Adventure Tours and operator of GetYourGuide’s Area 51 tour, told Fox News on Monday that his company won’t be taking customers out into the area from Sept. 19 to 22 out of concerns that things could “get difficult,” including the possibility that the few gas stations in the area may run out of fuel.

“We have to think first of the safety of their customers,” he said. “I don’t think putting a customer in that kind of situation is a safe choice.”

OWNERS OF LITTLE A’LE’INN PREPARE FOR ‘STORM AREA 51’ EVENT: ‘I’M STILL TERRIFIED’

One of the alien-related festivals is scheduled to take place in the town of Rachel, located about 148 miles north of Las Vegas. The town’s official website warns there is no gas or store in the town of 54 people, with the nearest gas station either 50 miles south in Ash Springs or 110 miles north in Tonopah.

Tryon, who has been running the Area 51 tour for over 18 years, told Fox News he wasn’t surprised the Facebook event went viral because people across the country want to know what’s happening at the top-secret military base.

“It’s simply a rebound of the American desire to know,” he said Monday. “Although storming Area 51, I think, isn’t a good idea. They take that whole place seriously.”

The tour company owner said the best time to visit the area is spring or fall, when weather conditions are “absolutely perfect” in the high-desert area. The viral Facebook event just so happens to be when weather conditions are entering the “best time of the year,” according to Tryon.

He stressed, however, that those staying in Las Vegas can’t get back and forth on one tank of fuel if they plan on attempting to make a trek on their own, especially if there is traffic or any other incident on the few roadways in the region.

“Getting caught in the desert isn’t a good thing, ” he told Fox News. “You can dehydrate and end up with serious issues.”

That’s why he recommends people make sure they go through a certified tour operator, especially avoiding the weekend of scheduled events. In his company’s full-day tours, travelers head out along the infamous “Extraterrestrial Highway” and showcase the scenic desert complete with stops at the Little A’le’Inn, 6-foot Indian petroglyphs that resemble aliens, and get the chance to stand at the perimeter of the military base without fear of arrest.

“For the enthusiasts, it’s a pilgrimage,” Tryon told Fox News. “It has such mystique about it.”

Tryon, who hosts tours for visitors from all over the world, said the viral Facebook event has caused “a nice uptick” in interest for tours in the area.

Lauren Hillhouse, GetYourGuide’s destination manager for Arizona and Nevada, told Fox News on Monday that the area typically sees interest from travelers in the U.S., but the European-based tour company has seen searches spike from people in places such as South America, Germany, Spain, and Italy. Traffic to its Area 51 activities page soared to 20 times normal levels in the past month, according to GetYourGuide.

“I think they’re looking for attractions, but what they are finding are tours,” she said Monday.

Hillhouse said that Area 51 tours were not even on her top points of interest until the Facebook event “exploded.” She said that, aside from avoiding the rural area between Sept. 19 to 22, anyone who is interested in visiting the Area 51 region should make sure to sign up for a legitimate tour and legitimate experience.

“Go through a verified source, do your research and be prepared for it,” she told Fox News.

Tryon, who “fell in love” with the Southwest about 27 years ago, said he plans to be out next weekend on his own with a film crew — and extra gas — to keep tabs on whatever happens.

He’s also convinced the military has had a space ship and even aliens there, citing information about the crash of an unidentified object in Roswell, N.M., on July 8, 1947. Government officials have labeled the crashed object a weather balloon.

“Are we alone in the universe? Of course, we’re not,” he told Fox News.

He also said information from earlier this year, about U.S. Navy pilots reporting having spotted UFOs while training over the East Coast in 2014 and 2015, just adds to the intrigue that people have for the secret site.

“The American people want to know what’s going on at Area 51, and they deserve to know what’s happening at Area 51,” he said.

Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel and Casino to close completely during renovations

Las Vegas is going to rock a lot less for more than half a year.

For eight months, the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino will close its doors while it undergoes renovation. The iconic Vegas location is expected to reopen eight months later, although it will be rebranded by its new owners.

The hotel and casino will close in February 2020, Fox 47 reports. The plan was originally for the hotel to stay open for most of the renovation and only shut down for four months. Unfortunately, it was decided more time was needed.

In 2018, Virgin Hotels purchased the hotel, giant guitar and all. Renovations were originally scheduled to be phased throughout the property, which would have allowed it to remain open for several more months.

In a statement obtained by Fox 47, JC Hospitality President and CEO Richard Bozworth said, “We determined that a phased closing of four months, followed by a total closure of four months was not efficient from a construction process nor could we provide a hospitality service experience our guests deserve.”

His statement continued, “Therefore an approximate eight-month closure would be most efficient and ensure a timely opening prior to January 2021. We might be ready in October, but construction is an imperfect process. Until early February 2020, it is business as usual at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas. Virgin Hotels Las Vegas promises to be one of the most exciting, vibrant, and anticipated properties to open in Las Vegas in years.”

The hotel will close after the 2020 Super Bowl, which is scheduled for February 2 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, USA Today reports.

The Hard Rock Hotel is expected to be rebranded as a Virgin property after the renovations are complete, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported in April 2018.

Among other things, The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is famous for being featured in the finale of the 1992 Rick Moranis movie “Honey, I Blew Up the Kid.”

One Nevada restaurant is making the most of the hordes of grasshoppers that have descended upon Las Vegas — by using them as inspiration for a pizza topping.

“What started out as a joke amongst our stoner friends has swept the nation,” Evel Pie, located on Fremont Street, announced on Facebook Tuesday. The pizza shop said their new pizza, dubbed “The Canyon Hopper,” is for “only the bravest daredevils.”

The pie consists of chorizo, goat cheese, caramelized onions, arugula, and, of course, lime- and garlic-roasted grasshoppers.

Described as “damn good,” Evel Pie said the creation’s tastiness surprised even the staff.

The inspiration for the pie likely stems from the insect influx Nevada has seen in recent weeks. Videos showed Las Vegas, in particular, was swarmed with grasshoppers — which pose no danger, as they don’t carry disease and don’t bite, according to scientists.

Jeff Knight, an entomologist with the Nevada Department of Agriculture, told local media last week that wet weather is probably to blame for the migration of adult pallid-winged grasshoppers.

He said the number of grasshoppers moving from north to central Nevada is rare, but noted that, as history shows, “when we have a wet winter or spring, these things build up often down below Laughlin and even into Arizona.”

The grasshopper invasion has been so prominent that the National Weather Service’s Las Vegas office released radar footage last week appearing to show a storm, which actually showed “biological targets” — the grasshoppers that invaded the city.

This year, the Las Vegas area recorded more rain in six months than the annual average of just under 4.2 inches per year.
