A 28-year-old Missouri man has been charged by the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in connection with his wife’s disappearance, which has been reclassified as a homicide, officials said.

Fox 2 reported that Beau Rothwell was charged Thursday with tampering with physical evidence, a class E felony.

His wife Jennifer Rothwell has been missing since early Tuesday morning.

Authorities said Beau Rothwell is a danger to the community and a flight risk because of the nature of the charges.

Walmart reopens El Paso location where 22 were killed in mass shooting

EL PASO, Texas — Walmart reopened its store here nearly three months after a gunman killed 22 people and injured dozens more in August.

Employees of the store were all smiles and full of energy as many showed up for work at the Cielo Vista location for the first time in nearly 16 weeks. Inside the store, Walmart showed off its new renovations to employees in a private ceremony. It also unveiled a new banner on the store’s front reading “#ELPASOSTRONG.”

El Paso native Leticia Portugal said the re-opening was nothing short of a party for her disabled son, Aaron, who has worked at Walmart for 20 years.

“He was counting down the hours since yesterday,” said Portugal of her son. “He was very excited.”

As customers began trickling into the store, employees welcomed them at the entrances with cheers, smiles and hugs. One of the first customers inside the store was Jordan Flores. He described the atmosphere as electric when he walked in.

“The amount of warmth and comfort and friendliness that came from the employees cheering on the customers coming back or coming for the first time — it’s an amazing feeling,” said Flores.

It was a source of relaxation for him, but he said the Aug. 3 mass shooting would forever be engrained in the city.

MICHAEL BADEN: DEATH ROW INMATE RODNEY REED IS INNOCENT

“Definitely not going to be forgotten,” he said. “We just have to make something positive out of something negative.”

Others described the re-opening of the location as bitter sweet. It was a reminder for Robert Ceballos of how many lives were taken there earlier this year; and how many people are still struggling to get over that day.

“Unfortunately, I know where some of the locations of where the tragedies happened and passing by them…it’s just sad,” said Ceballos. “We’ve moved on, but there are still people recovering and there are still people suffering from this.”

Walmart had been working to renovate the Cielo Vista store for months. The company said the opening would not be a celebratory event, but a chance for it to show employees the changes its made internally and externally to the facility. That includes a new onsite memorial Walmart has planned called “The Grand Candela,” which will honor the victims of the El Paso mass shooting.

The day prior, museum archival officials and volunteers began removing items from a large makeshift memorial on-site. Flower bouquets, signs reading “El Paso strong” and Mexican and American flags were installed at a new temporary memorial at nearby Ponder Park. Remaining portions of the memorial were removed and cataloged for historical purposes.

“As our region continues to heal, we are working to honor the sentiment and wishes behind the items that were brought to the makeshift community memorial,” said Quality of Life Deputy City Manager Tracey Jerome. “Ponder Park became the place where our community gathered in the immediate hours following this horrific act, and we hope the park will continue to be a place where people can go to reflect and heal.”

Brice Burris, an attorney at the Fears Nachawati law firm in Dallas, represents victims and families of the deceased in a lawsuit against Walmart and the shooter, Patrick Crusius. He said the company needed to do much more than renovations and erecting a memorial honoring the victims of the mass shooting.

“Three years ago, they had armed security guards at this location and it’s a bottom dollar decision, it appears. We’re going to pull these security guards to, at the end of the day, make Walmart a little bit more money at the expense of customer protection,” alleged Burris. “These families they just really want answers. They want to know what Walmart knew and what they could have done.”

Walmart has quietly hired off-duty officers at its stores in El Paso, according to a report from the Associated Press.

“We’re covering Walmarts, we’re also covering Sam’s (Club),” El Paso police union President Ron Martin told the publication. “Even the neighborhood Walmarts are being covered. Some of them are being covered by sheriffs deputies, some of them are being covered by our guys. I mean, I have seen some constables working it.”

Security around the store was evident as white poles with cameras and loudspeakers mounted to them were planted throughout the store’s parking lot. Security guards were posted up at entrances and other areas at the location; sheriff’s officers could be seen circling the store’s perimeter every few minutes.

Though for at least one customer, the presence of security and law enforcement didn’t seem like enough to keep him safe.

“I think we need more security at the doors. That’s my opinion,” said Carlos Barraza. “This is my last time here.”

The hope for some, like Flores, is that the Walmart reopening will serve as a fresh start in the lives of those still dealing with the effects of the mass shooting.

“We eventually have to forgive and move on,” said Flores. “We got to remember those we lost and celebrate their lives. And we celebrate that one day, we’re going to see them again in heaven.”

A Pennsylvania mother was arrested Monday after allegedly handing her 1-month-old baby to a bus driver before walking away and abandoning the infant, according to a report.

Police said the woman allegedly got on a bus in Bethlehem on Saturday and handed her baby to the driver before walking away, WPVI-TV reported.

The mother, identified as Ashley Walters of Whitehall, was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor count of child endangerment, the station reported.

Walters, 26, reportedly boarded the bus and then placed her son on the farebox. According to the criminal complaint, Walters told the driver to “call the police and that this was her son that she can’t take care of,” WPVI reported.

After she exited the bus, she reportedly walked away in tears.

Singer Allison Moorer opens up about parents’ murder-suicide when she was 14 years old

Singer-songwriter Allison Moorer is still trying to heal after the deaths of her parents when she was just 14 years old.

The murder-suicide in 1986 was something Moorer and her older sister, Grammy-winning singer Shelby Lynne, avoided discussing throughout their careers — but now they’re coming to terms with what transpired.

Moorer’s memoir, “Blood,” tells a haunting story of the girls’ childhoods in rural Alabama and of their parents, Franklin and Lynn, whose stories encompass much more than the way they died. Her father was an alcoholic and was physically abusive to both his wife and his children.

Their mother tried to leave him and protect her children, but from an early age, Moorer seemed to know that it would end in tragedy. On Aug. 12, 1986, Franklin visited their rental home and shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself, “CBS This Morning” reported.

The noise woke up Allison but it was Shelby — 17 years old at the time — who went outside and found her dead parents on the front lawn.

“I think he just broke,” she said in an interview with the outlet.

JULIE ANDREWS TALKS ‘SECOND CAREER’ AND MEMOIR: ‘THAT’S A WHOLE NEW LIFE FOR ME’

“It’s a difficult thing to walk through the world and not belong to anyone,” Moorer admitted of the sisters becoming orphans. “So, we belong to each other, and we have always felt like that.”

“The tragedy colors everything,” she said, “and all the good feels a bit bittersweet.”

While writing the memoir, Moorer earned a master’s degree, dug through family pictures, recordings, lyrics and letters, and even parsed autopsy notes to spur what she called active remembering.

“It’s surprising how much we keep buried,” Moorer recalled in an interview with The Associated Press. “There were points during the writing of the book where I would literally hold onto my desk because I would be overwhelmed.”

ELTON JOHN’S AUTOBIOGRAPHY ‘ME’ DISCUSSES FRIENDSHIP WITH PRINCESS DIANA, COCAINE USE AND BEING A DAD

Moorer split up the narrative into three parts, first dealing with her parents’ fractured relationship, her father’s violent fits of rage and her mother’s natural musical voice. Then Moorer reflected inward on how the two sisters dealt with the shame and abuse in different ways — both forever psychologically scarred.

“I realized that when you are raised in an addictive household, you’re taught, or are told either directly or indirectly to deny what you see, what you hear,” Moorer said. “And most heartbreakingly what you feel. Because nobody’s supposed to talk about Daddy’s drinking.”

The album came much quicker as she realized that she had been trying to tell parts of her family’s story in song before, but it never felt complete. The album includes a song called “Cold Cold Earth,” that she initially recorded in 2000 in an attempt to address all those reporters’ questions. “Nightlight” is her ode to her older sister when she reached out for comfort as a scared little girl.

Lynne wrote the forward to the book, saying it “exemplifies how two sisters can face the most horrific situations and come out not only surviving them, but finding each other as women now.”

One song on the album was written by her father, who wanted to be a songwriter and instilled in his daughters their earliest musical lessons.

FORMER ‘DYNASTY’ STAR CATHERINE OXENBERG FEARED LOSING DAUGHTER TO NXIVM SEX CULT: ‘AT TIMES I LOST HOPE’

“I’m the One to Blame” was written well before either Moorer or her sister was born and the lyrics were found inside his old briefcase. Moorer sings the lyrics about jealousy and pride, sorrow and blame in a true act of sympathy for a father who caused so much multi-generational wreckage.

“He always wanted to write songs, always wanted to play music, always wanted to be a working musician and just never got there,” Moorer said. “To be able to do that for him is really important.”

Moorer acknowledges that memories can be flawed, especially in traumatic situations, and so her story is told in non-chronological vignettes. Moorer accepts that there will be gaps in memory, or facets of her mother’s life that she never knew and will always wonder about. The final section deals with the healing that came many years later, as Moorer became a mother, and learned how to come to grips with their family’s legacy.

Moorer said she’ll never fully understand why her parents died, but she feels like she did her best at telling the story of her family that’s so much more than just the facts.

“I still have so many questions about what happened and who my parents were,” Moorer said. “I lived with them for a very short time. So I can’t close it. But I can make peace with the fact that I can’t close it.”

Las Vegas police K-9 stabbed repeatedly by suspect ‘doing extremely well’ in recovery

A Las Vegas police K-9 was recovering Tuesday after being stabbed by a man who refused to come down from a roof, officials said.

“Hunter,” a Belgian Malinois, was stabbed multiple times on Saturday by 27-year-old Joseph Arquilla, investigators said. Arquilla had climbed onto the roof of a business around midnight and wouldn’t come down.

Florida man dressed as Trump at Halloween fair allegedly punched in face by 14-year-old

A Florida teen showed her apparent disdain for President Trump when she allegedly punched a man who was dressed up as the commander in chief at a Halloween fair over the weekend, according to authorities.

The 14-year-old girl walked up to the man, who was standing on line with his family Saturday night for a haunted house at the Collier County Fairgrounds, and punched him in the jaw, officials said.
