Kate Beckinsale evacuates due to California wildfires, thanks first responders: ‘So grateful’

Kate Beckinsale and her slew of pets are safe after having to evacuate her Los Angeles home due to the wildfire sweeping across the west side of the city that’s been dubbed the Getty Fire.

The “Widow” actress shared on Instagram on Monday that she made it out of the area OK after fans and friends apparently checked in with her out of concern.

“We are safe. Thank you so much to everyone who checked in. Sending love and hope to everyone else who walked out of their house at 3 am to this,” she captioned a photo of the hillside near her home engulfed in flames and smoke.

The 46-year-old actress thanked first responders as well as friends who helped her evacuate as she cannot drive herself.

“love and admiration to the @losangelesfiredepartment and most of all to David and Dorothy who didn’t need to remember in the middle of the night that I can’t drive but did,” she wrote. “And to everyone who has offered me a place to stay despite my rolling with four animals including an epileptic cat. Angel people . So grateful x”

According to Yahoo, Beckinsale owns two Persian cats, Clive, who is very old and survived cancer, and Willow. She also has two lapdogs named Ingrid and Myf.

The fire erupted around 1:30 a.m. local time in the Sepulveda Pass along Interstate 405 near the Getty Center Museum community and the hill-top golf community of Mountain Gate,  according to LAFD spokesman Capt. Erik Scott.

By 11 a.m. ET, officials said it had already grown to encompass over 500 acres as more than 470 LAFD firefighters with assistance from neighboring agencies rushed to combat the blaze. Over 10,000 structures, both residential and commercial, were located in the mandatory evacuation zones that include the Mountain Gate, Mandeville Canyon, and Bundy areas in western LA County.

“If you’re in the mandatory evacuation zone and you’re still there watching this, you’re an idiot. Get the hell out,” L.A. City Councilman Paul Koretz said at a news conference. “It’s way too dangerous.”

At least eight homes were destroyed and six damaged in the LA-area blaze, fire officials said.

Beckinsale was one of many Los Angeles residents that were ordered to leave their homes as the wildfire continues to spread throughout the city. Arnold Schwarzenegger, LeBron James, Clark Gregg and more took to social media to share their experience after being told to evacuate their homes.

Las Vegas police K-9 stabbed repeatedly by suspect ‘doing extremely well’ in recovery

A Las Vegas police K-9 was recovering Tuesday after being stabbed by a man who refused to come down from a roof, officials said.

“Hunter,” a Belgian Malinois, was stabbed multiple times on Saturday by 27-year-old Joseph Arquilla, investigators said. Arquilla had climbed onto the roof of a business around midnight and wouldn’t come down.

Police officers responded to the scene and once Arquilla came down around 4:45 a.m., he allegedly stabbed Hunter repeatedly — until his knife blade broke, KVVU-TV reported.

The K-9 was injured on the left side of his neck, just below his ear, according to photos posted online by the police department. Authorities said he “was lucky that the attacker’s blade broke at some point during the assault when it struck the dog’s collar, making it harder for the wounds to penetrate deeply.”

Sen. Rubio: Many Dems made up their minds about impeaching Trump in November 2016

Florida Senator Marco Rubio said Tuesday House Democrats have lost credibility with their impeachment charge, since many have wanted to take such an action since President Trump‘s election.

Appearing on “Fox & Friends” with host Steve Doocy, Rubio said that Americans should not forget the gravity of an impeachment.

“Impeachment is really a big deal, like removing the President of the United States is not just an extraordinary measure — it’s also really bad for the country, it’s traumatic,” said Rubio.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Monday the House will vote this week on a resolution to formalize -–and establish the parameters – of the Trump impeachment inquiry. Fox News has learned the vote will take place Thursday on the House floor.

Republicans, who have been calling for a vote for weeks now, hit back Monday at Pelosi over the planned vote.

NEWT GINGRICH: HOW SEN. LINDSEY GRAHAM BOXED PELOSI IN ON IMPEACHMENT AND WHAT COMES NEXT

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham – the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which would play a role in a Senate impeachment trial – said, “A vote now is a bit like unringing a bell as House Democrats have selectively leaked information in order to damage President Trump for weeks.”

REP. COLLINS: UPCOMING HOUSE IMPEACHMENT VOTES IS A ‘SHAM,’ SHOWS DEMS’ DESPERATION

Rubio noted that there are a “significant number of the House [members]” that have been looking for a reason to impeach Trump since he took office.

“So, you’ll start to lose some credibility when you make up your mind about this back in … 2016 because you didn’t like the results of the election,” he told Doocy.

He added that no Democrats who were elected in districts that “Trump won” were sent to Congress to impeach the president.

“They sent them here to deal with drug prices, to deal with China, to help our economy continue to grow, to defund our military — where they won’t even pass an appropriations bill that we need to get done which is really important for [the] long-term plan,” said Rubio.

“Very few people, unless you come from the most radical fringes of the American political system, were sent up here to spend all of their time – every single day – focused on the issue. They’re going to do what they’re going to do. I can’t control what the House does. But, we’re going to continue to do our jobs, or at least try to here in the Senate,” he said.

Ford recalling over 300K vans, 384 SUVs to fix three issues

Ford is recalling over 300,000 Transit vans in the U.S. and North America for the second time to replace driveshaft couplings that can crack and potentially cause the shaft to come loose.

The issue could lead to a loss of power to the wheels and allow the vehicles to move while the transmission is in Park with the parking brake disengaged. Ford said the replacement parts should be good for at least 40,000 miles and that a permanent solution is in development. The vehicles subject to the recall were built from Jan. 17, 2014, to June 15, 2017.

George Conway urges officials to ‘just stop’ defending Trump, says he ‘belongs’ in prison

George Conway, attorney and husband of White House adviser Kellyanne Conway, launched into another tirade against President Trump on Tuesday, urging public officials and others to “just stop” defending the president and saying he “belongs” in prison.

“To the members of Congress, public officials, and talking heads still defending @realDonaldTrump: Just stop,” he tweeted. “Especially the lying.  He has no defense. Don’t go down with him in history in disgrace. The sooner we get this over with and he’s gone, the better off everyone will be.”

KELLYANNE CONWAY, IN HEATED CLASH WITH REPORTER, SAYS HUSBAND ‘GETS HIS POWER THROUGH ME’

Responding to a tweet predicting that Trump will end up in prison, Conway added: “Absolutely he will. And it’s where he belongs.”

Separately, regarding the recent boos Trump received at a World Series baseball game, where the crowd yelled “lock him up,” Conway described the chant as appropriate.

“No — it’s the fact that he’s a criminal and the fact that this chant that came from his rallies couldn’t be more fitting to apply to him,” he tweeted regarding the impetus for the chant.

KELLYANNE CONWAY’S HUSBAND MAKES AWKWARD APPEAL FOR ‘SOMEONE’ ON TRUMP’S ‘RUNAWAY TRAIN’ TO STOP HIM

The comments are the latest in a stream of anti-Trump sentiment from Conway, who has clashed with the president for months. Trump has called George a “stone cold LOSER & husband from hell.”

George Conway’s tweets have long attracted attention, considering Kellyanne Conway is a staunch defender of the president and has a reputation for wading into all media environments, hostile and friendly, to tout Trump’s agenda. She did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday from Fox News.

That dynamic returned to the spotlight last week after audio emerged of the White House counselor scolding a Washington Examiner reporter for a reference to the Conway marriage in a story about Kellyanne Conway reportedly being considered for White House chief of staff.

She later issued a statement in which she pushed back against personal questions she called “gossipy, inappropriate and irrelevant.”

“I’ve previously noted that it is unusual – especially in Washington and especially in Republican politics – for a man to gain newfound fame and power through his wife, following his own stories, decades-long career as a respected and outstanding litigator in New York, which I have long admired,” she said.

“Like every couple I know, George and I disagree on many big things and agree on many big things. Exactly none of it affects my position as Counselor to the President,” she said. “Exactly none of it is anyone’s business.”

US soldier who severed his own leg to help his crewmates gives first TV interview

Ezra Maes, a U.S. soldier who severed his own leg so he could to help his injured crewmates after a tank crash, was called “the pinnacle of a resilient American soldier” by his doctor on “Fox & Friends.”

“I was probably more frazzled than he was when he and I first met because I understood that the infection that he had in the residual right limb could easily kill him,” Dr. Joseph Alderete said.

Alderete, the surgeon who operated on him, said despite the circumstances, Maes had a positive outlook.

Army Spc. Maes, 21, who grew up in Colorado and New Mexico, was on a weeklong rotation in Slovakia while deployed to Poland last year. The armor crewman served as a loader for the main cannon of an M1A2 Abrams tank.

SOLDIER WHO AMPUTATED LEG TO SAVE TANK CREW: ‘IT’S THE BEST THING THAT’S EVER HAPPENED TO ME’

He and two other crew members fell asleep in the tank one night only to wake up with the hulking machine slowly rolling downhill at 5 mph.

They quickly learned the parking brake had failed. The crew went through all the emergency procedures to get the tank to stop, but nothing worked, Maes recalled.

The tank picked up speed, rumbling up to 30 mph, but was slowed after hitting several trees, eventually crashing into an embankment.

Thrown across the tank, Maes’ right leg became lodged in the gearing under the tank. Maes said when his comrades called for his help, he freed himself, describing the severing of his leg as “getting a loose tooth off.”

“The entire feeling was … [to do] everything we could to just kind of relax ourselves and not make a big panic out of it. We knew if we panicked, we’d probably die,” Maes said.

In his first TV interview since the freak accident, Maes went on to say, “Once we were found, it just turned to all jokes and laughter. We were all just so happy to be alive. That was the main feeling that was going on.”

The specialist has since been immersed in physical and occupational therapy at the Center for the Intrepid, the medical center’s outpatient rehabilitation center.

Tomi Lahren: Bill to protect animals brings Republicans and Democrats together

“Let’s take a break from the impeachment witch hunt, the constant fighting, the drawing of partisan battle lines to focus on a bipartisan bill that should make us all proud,” Fox Nation host Tomi Lahren said on “Final Thoughts.”

Lahren applauded House members on both sides of the aisle this week for their support for a bill that would make animal cruelty a federal felony in the United States.

HOUSE PASSES BILL MAKING ANIMAL CRUELTY FEDERAL FELONY

“We’ve all seen the commercials sponsored by animal rights and welfare groups who work tirelessly to save abused, tortured, starved and abandoned animals. How could anyone look at the horrific images and not feel something?” she asked.

Last week, the House passed the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act (PACT Act), which prohibits animal abuse known as “crushing” — torturing animals in numerous ways, typically small animals such as kittens and puppies, and post the videos of the brutal acts online.

Burning, drowning, suffocating, impaling and other forms of torture would also be banned.

Applauding the bipartisan support for the bill, Lahren expressed her support for the cause but questioned why it took so long.

“I’m glad this bill passed but, my goodness, why hasn’t this been done sooner?” she asked.

The PACT Act is an important addition to the 2010 Animal Crush Video Prohibition Act, which made the creation and distribution of animal crushing videos illegal. Omitted from the initial act was the prohibition of underlying acts of cruelty against animals, according to the office of Congressman Ted Deutch, D-Fla., who introduced the PACT act together with Vern Buchanan, R-Fla.

The latest act received overwhelming bipartisan support, as groups including The National Sheriffs Association and the Fraternal Order of Police have endorsed the legislation as well as a bipartisan group in the Senate which includes Republican Pat Toomey and Democrat Dianne Feinstein, who introduced a companion bill back in February — and Lahren believes the support represents a larger message.

“Not only is this great for animals, it’s a reminder that as much as our leaders disagree on nearly everything, there are still issues we can come together on.”

— Tomi Lahren, Fox Nation host

“Not only is this great for animals,” she said, “it’s a reminder that as much as our leaders disagree on nearly everything, there are still issues we can come together on.”

“Though this might be a small step, it’s a big step in protecting the welfare of animals and a great step for bipartisanship,” Lahren continued.

VIRGINIA ENACTS ‘TOMMIE’S LAW,’ MAKING ANIMAL CRUELTY A FELONY

Lahren also took the opportunity to remind viewers that October is “Adopt-a-shelter-dog month,” and encouraged people to be the “Saving grace” every dog needs.

“Many of the dogs, cats and other animals in shelters have been either abandoned or abused,” Lahren said. “You could be their saving grace. Please consider fostering, adopting or donating to your local shelter. These animals did nothing to deserve these circumstances.”

“I rescued my dog Kota from the Humane Society almost four years ago,” she added, “but let me tell you, it was Kota who truly rescued me. Adopt, don’t shop. ‘Rescued’ is the best breed,” she said.

Tammy Bruce: Media upset al-Baghdadi death may overshadow impeachment

“All they could think about was ‘How is this going to affect impeachment?’ said Fox Nation host Tammy Bruce of the mainstream media’s reaction to the news that President Donald Trump had ordered a successful U.S. military operation that resulted in the death of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Bruce pointed to several headlines that came out almost immediately after the deadly raid on al-Baghdadi’s compound was announced.

KILLING OF AL-BAGHDADI ‘VINDICATION’ OF PRESIDENT TRUMP’S SYRIA STRATEGY: STEVE HILTON

NBC News wrote, “The killing of al-Baghdadi is a win Trump needed, but the credit could be fleeting.”  A CNN headline read, “Triumph over top terrorist interrupts impeachment crisis engulfing Trump” and Bloomberg told its readers, “Raid gives Trump timely win but unlikely to slow impeachment.”

“When you’re a detective, they say the most interesting and most important thing is the excited utterance,” said Bruce. “The first thing people say to you is the thing you most often can trust. Those headlines were excited utterances.”

Bruce continued by imitating what she imagined to be the various newsroom reactions to the al-Baghdadi raid: “We’ve got this great plan and now he’s ruined it — for us.”

In fact, Bruce argued, the media refuse to give Trump credit for seeing through a major foreign policy objective.

“From the campaign on for this president — and his people around him have confirmed this as well — dealing with ISIS has been a number one priority. Another promise kept,” she said.

“By the way,” Bruce continued. “The day after we obliterated al-Baghdadi, we got their spokesman. So they literally eliminated the top of the caliphate. So President Trump dealt with ISIS, which grew under Obama’s presidency, of course.”

BRUCE: HARVEY WEINSTEIN IS REASON HILLARY CLINTON SHOULD NEVER AGAIN RUN FOR PRESIDENT

However, “there was one headline that you could trust and this was from The New York Post,” said Bruce.

The New York Post headline read, “Rot in Hell, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.”

“Plain, simple, straight across,” concluded Bruce.  “There is no debate here about what kind of a maniac this guy was.”

Tucker Carlson: Left incapable of celebrating Trump for any reason – Call it al-Baghdadi derangement syndrome

It was a moment that should have united this fractious country — we could use it. Instead, it became more fodder for those who profit from our division.

On Sunday morning, the Trump administration announced that thanks to a successful military raid in Northwest Syria, the ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi had been killed.

ISIS SPOKESMAN ABU HASSAN AL-MUHAJIR, POTENTIAL AL-BAGHDADI SUCCESSOR, ALSO KILLED IN SYRIA, OFFICIAL SAYS

President Trump: He died after running into a dead-end tunnel, whimpering and crying and screaming all the way.

He was a sick and depraved man.

And he died in a vicious and violent way, as a coward running and crying.

He died like a dog. He died like a coward. The world is now a much safer place.

“Sick and depraved,” it turns out, is not an overstatement. As the head of the ISIS caliphate, Baghdadi ran one of the most gruesome death cults in human history. In Syria and Iraq, his followers murdered untold thousands, beheaded them, and drowned them, and set them on fire, often on camera.

In the U.S. and in Europe, terrorists pledging alliance to Baghdadi killed hundreds in mass shootings, bombings and vehicle attacks. So Baghdadi’s death is really nothing less than a victory for civilization itself. And yet, here in Washington, many complain that Trump had dared to kill him.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi whined that she hadn’t been given appropriate notice of the operation — as if it were all about her.

Former Obama National Intelligence Director James Clapper, meanwhile, told television viewers that, somehow, the killing of the ISIS leader would make ISIS stronger.

And then on CNN, some compared the president to ISIS.

Nick Paton Walsh, CNN senior international correspondent: There were lots of moments during Donald Trump’s speech which jar to some degree. Some of which sort of echoed, frankly, the crudeness you would often expect to hear maybe from ISIS about the whimpering, screaming Baghdadi pinned down in a sealed tunnel. It was so disturbing to hear to some degree.

Philip Mudd, CNN counterterrorism analyst: You do not celebrate death. I don’t care if it’s a terrorist. I don’t care if it’s someone you hate. A human being has died. We don’t celebrate that. I would not use that and I find it — it’s embarrassing.

“I would not use that language,” says the guy who is making a career out of screaming and foaming on television.

Over on CNN.com, meanwhile, one of the reporters compiled a listicle called “The 41 Most Shocking Lines from Donald Trump’s Baghdadi Announcement.” — CNN really reaching new lows every day.

You’re watching the flailing of a leadership class that despises the country it governs. They loathe the elected president so much, they’re incapable of acknowledging any accomplishment, no matter what it is.

And then there was Max Boot, always the most deranged probably because he is also the dumbest. Boot complained that Trump wasn’t respectful enough of Baghdadi: “Trump could not have heard whimpering and crying because there was no audio. The assertion that Baghdadi died as a coward was contradicted by the fact that rather than be captured, he blew himself up.”

In other words, says Max Boot, Baghdadi was a hero of sorts and shame on Trump for calling him a coward!

Well, that sounds kind of far-out.

You should know that MSNBC devoted significant coverage to the question of whether Baghdadi actually “whimpered” before he died.

Geoff Bennett, NBC News White House correspondent: He was talking about Baghdadi’s final moments. Take a listen to this:.

Trump: “He died after running into a dead-end tunnel whimpering and crying and screaming all the way.”

Bennett: But as you point out in the piece, there was no live audio from the raid. So square that circle for us.

“Square that circle.” It’s beyond parody. Well, that award goes to the Washington Post. Here’s how that paper chose to announce Baghdadi’s death: “Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, austere religious scholar at the helm of Islamic State, dies at 48.”

That’s one for the scrapbook. You can find it with other memorable headlines from history.

“Goal-oriented German leader with distinctive mustache found dead in bunker.”

“Joseph Stalin, former seminarian and movie buff, dies peacefully at 74.”

“Usama bin Laden, husband to five, killed in home invasion.”

So what is this about? Well, ultimately, you’re watching the flailing of a leadership class that despises the country it governs. They loathe the elected president so much, they’re incapable of acknowledging any accomplishment, no matter what it is.

Trump is bad. Trump killed Baghdadi. Therefore killing Baghdadi was bad. That’s how these purported geniuses actually think. They are purely reactive about everything, not just the death of terrorists.

These are the very people who sat by idly as our entire middle class died. And then China rose to take America’s place as leader of the world, and virtually alone among political figures, Trump noted these things. “Hey, what’s going on?” he said. He ran on those issues and he won.

And in response to that, rather than learn something, our leadership class took the opposite side. They took the side of the fentanyl smugglers from Mexico. They took the side of our mortal enemies and the fascist government of China.

Those are not positions you would take if you cared about your people. But at this point, it is pretty obvious, they hate Trump far more than they love America.

Florida man dressed as Trump at Halloween fair allegedly punched in face by 14-year-old

A Florida teen showed her apparent disdain for President Trump when she allegedly punched a man who was dressed up as the commander in chief at a Halloween fair over the weekend, according to authorities.

The 14-year-old girl walked up to the man, who was standing on line with his family Saturday night for a haunted house at the Collier County Fairgrounds, and punched him in the jaw, officials said.

The girl then allegedly laughed and ran back to a group of friends, the Naples Daily News reported, citing the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

The Trump fan told authorities he approached the teen to ask her why she did that, and a deputy later questioned the 14-year-old and her parents.

Investigators said that “the sole motivation was to strike ‘Trump’,” and a county school system employee reportedly told officials the incident was filmed and posted to Instagram.

The teen was charged with misdemeanor battery.
