Saquon Barkley hopeful for New York Giants’ future after strong performance

New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley was the perfect complement to rookie quarterback Daniel Jones in Sunday’s win over the Washington Redskins and vowed it was just a taste of the organization’s future.

Barkley had 279 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns in New York’s 41-35 overtime victory. He told reporters after the game that he believes that the performance that he and Jones gave was what the team envisioned when they selected both players in the first round of the 2018 and 2019 drafts respectively.

“I think that’s kind of what they envisioned when they drafted D.J. and drafted me,” Barkley said. “I think we both have the potential and the talent to play well together and open stuff up for each other.”

Barkley, the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year, missed three games this season with an ankle injury. He told reporters that Sunday’s game was the best he felt in weeks, and it showed.

“I haven’t felt this good since the bye week,” he said, according to SNY. “Opportunities, I feel like Philly [in Week 14]. When you go back and watch Philly, we run the ball really well. Just because everyone doesn’t get the sixes or sevens because when I hit six- and seven-yard runs, I don’t want to take the short ones. Because of Philly, when I break the long runs, we are getting five, getting five. It is just how the game played out. We had to go away from the run and unfortunately, we lost that game. These last two weeks we were able to stay with the run and definitely run the ball in [overtime] and last week ground and pound with like six, seven minutes left.”

Jones finished Sunday’s game with 352 passing yards and five touchdown passes. He became the first rookie quarterback to throw for more than 350 passing yards and five touchdown passes without an interception in NFL history, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

Obama tells big-money Dem donors to back Warren if she wins nomination: report

Former President Barack Obama has been encouraging Democratic bundlers to pledge their full support to Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., should she win the party’s nomination for president, The Hill reported Monday.

Warren has publically blasted billionaires and big corporations alike and has promised to not take campaign contributions from either, instead focusing on small-dollar contributions from the Democratic Party’s grassroots. That move has caused consternation among some wealthy Democrats about what policies the senator might push should she become president. In response, one Obama ally told The Hill that the former president is trying to “rally the troops,” particularly in the financial services industry.

ELIZABETH WARREN CALLED OUT OVER PAST FUNDRAISER AT WINERY, OTHER EVENTS WHERE WINE WAS SERVED

Obama has refused to endorse any candidate in the Democratic primary race, which includes his former Vice President Joe Biden. However, in private meetings, he has talked up Warren and made it clear he views her as a formidable and capable candidate.

“He obviously thinks she’s very smart,” one Democratic donor said. “He thinks her policy ideas matter. And I think he sees her running the campaign with the most depth.”

“He appreciates her intellect and is impressed by the campaign she’s run,” a former Obama aide told The Hill. “If anything, she has the most substantive achievements from his time in the White House. And he’s someone who can talk at length about her accolades.”

FOX NEWS POLL: BIDEN STILL LEADS DEMOCRATIC RACE AS WARREN DROPS

Warren has secured the support of some former Obama campaign staffers. Last week, more than 200 lower-and-mid-level Obama campaign employees threw their support to Warren. She has yet to garner support from senior-level Obama hires like former Secretary of State John Kerry and former Treasury Secretary Jack Lew, who support Biden.

Warren has made income inequality a centerpiece of her campaign while pushing for an increased minimum wage and blasting corporations for not doing more to help American workers.

ELIZABETH WARREN TO MEET WITH NATIVE AMERICAN GROUPS IN OKLAHOMA AS DNA CONTROVERSY LINGERS

She criticized fellow candidate Pete Buttigieg during last week’s Democratic debate for fraternizing with donors during his “wine cave” campaign fundraisers, leading to allegations that she was trying to wage class warfare.

“The mayor just recently had a fundraiser that was held in a wine cave full of crystals and served $900-a-bottle wine,” Warren said.

The senator was promptly called out over her past fundraisers, including a 2018 event at City Winery Boston where singer Melissa Etheridge performed and donors paid $2,700 for VIP experiences and souvenir wine bottles for $1,000.

Others have criticized Warren for her own financial dealings, which they say runs contrary to her knocks on the rich. Recently released financial records reveal she made $1.9 million from private legal work going back three decades.

After Warren’s swipe at Buttigieg, the South Bend, Ind., mayor said Warren accepted donations from wealthy donors during her Senate run.

Obama’s praise of Warren comes after the pair were said to have disagreements on economic issues during his time in the White House.  In 2015, Obama was dismissive of her opposition to the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal, calling her “a politician like everybody else.”

In 2017, Warren said she was troubled to hear of Obama’s six-figure public speaking fees.

While speaking at a private event on leadership in Singapore last week, Obama said women are “indisputably better” than men, the BBC reported. He did not mention Warren.

“I’m absolutely confident that for two years if every nation on earth was run by women, you would see significant improvement across the board on just about everything … living standards and outcomes,” he said.

Fitzgerald was speaking to the media after the Cardinals’ 27-13 win over the Seattle Seahawks when his father’s cellphone rang.

The future Hall of Fame wide receiver stared daggers at his father, Larry Fitzgerald Sr., a longtime reporter for the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder.

“Can we get some professionalism in here, please?” he asked.

Fitzgerald has been playing in the NFL long enough to command some sort of professionalism in the locker room setting – no matter who it is.

Despite retirement rumors swirling around him last season, Fitzgerald signed a one-year extension to remain in Arizona. NBC Sports reported last week that the Cardinals are urging Fitzgerald to return to the team for one more season.

He told reporters last week that he wasn’t thinking about the future just yet.

“You never know,” the wide receiver said, according to the team’s website. “You never know. I don’t give it much thought. I told you before, I stay in the moment, man. The career will end. When it ends, it ends.”

Boston Celtics’ Tacko Fall earns ‘MVP’ chants in win vs. Charlotte Hornets

The signing of center Tacko Fall by the Boston Celtics during the offseason wasn’t a particularly remarkable acquisition but the 7-foot-5 center has quickly become a fan favorite since he made his NBA debut.

Fall played three minutes against the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday and scored four points, receiving “MVP” chants from the TD Garden crowd after he threw down an alley-oop late in the fourth quarter of the Celtics’ 119-93 win.

MSNBC’s Al Sharpton rips pro-Trump evangelicals: They’d ‘sell Jesus out’ for judicial appointments

Westlake Legal Group Al-Sharpton-2 MSNBC's Al Sharpton rips pro-Trump evangelicals: They'd 'sell Jesus out' for judicial appointments Joseph Wulfsohn fox-news/us/religion/christianity fox-news/politics/trump-impeachment-inquiry fox-news/person/donald-trump fox-news/media fox news fnc/media fnc b8478a4b-ff83-509a-826f-8ad7eb3aaabd article

MSNBC host Rev. Al Sharpton harshly criticized pro-Trump evangelicals Monday in the wake of the president’s impeachment, claiming they would “sell Jesus out” in order to help a “shameless conman.”

Last week, the prominent evangelical magazine Christianity Today made headlines with an editorial supporting the removal of President Trump after the Democrats in the House of Representatives officially adopted two articles of impeachment over his response to an investigation into Trump’s dealings with Ukraine.

Appearing “Morning Joe,” Sharpton slammed evangelicals for trading in the “moral” position for “judicial nominees.”

“This is not a political position, this is a moral one,” Sharpton began, echoing the sentiment of the Christianity Today editor. “And by raising it to that level and putting in that perspective, he [Trump] not only exposes the president but he exposes a lot of the evangelical leaders saying, ‘I support the president on his judicial nominees, I support the president on a lot of things… But you can’t get away from his immorality, you can’t get away from his divisiveness, his lying, his race-baiting.”

CNN’S CHRIS CUOMO SAYS TRUMP ‘MAKES A MOCKERY’ OF CHRISTIANITY, ‘DOESN’T PRACTICE HUMANITY’

Sharpton went on to argue that the editorial is asking evangelicals if they are “bargaining and selling your soul for some judicial appointments” while sacrificing “the soul of the church.”

“I think this is a devastating blow,” the MSNBC host continued. “The reason they’re so offended is it’s exposing all of them that they would take this shameless conman over the principles that they’re preaching in the holy season as we celebrate Jesus. They would sell Jesus out if they felt they could get something from it is the inference he is saying from the editorial and that’s sad on many levels.

Over the weekend, nearly 200 evangelical leaders condemned the magazine’s editorial, which “offensively questioned the spiritual integrity and Christian witness of tens-of-millions of believers who take seriously their civic and moral obligations,” they wrote to the magazine’s president.

Fox News contributor Trey Gowdy told Fox News Monday that he thinks “most people are smart enough” to see through House Speaker Nancy Pelosi‘s move to withhold the articles of impeachment against President Trump from the Senate.

“If he [Trump] really is an existential threat to the republic, if he really has committed conduct that should result in his removal from office, then why would you not go ahead and send it on to the Senate?” Gowdy, the former chairman of the House Oversight Committee, asked on “The Daily Briefing.”

“The Constitution gives the House no role in deciding how this trial takes place,” Gowdy told host Dana Perino.

“It is exclusively within the providence of the Senate. I think most of my fellow citizens will see through this ‘let’s hurry up and impeach him and then sit on the indictment for god knows how long.’ I think most people are smart enough to see through that.”

Pelosi stunned Washington last week with her decision to withhold the articles — which accuse Trump of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress over his dealings with Ukraine — as she sought to pressure the Senate to agree to certain terms for a trial. In an unusual press conference Thursday, Pelosi, D-Calif., defended her decision while calling Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., a “rogue leader.”

MCCONNELL CALLS PELOSI’S IMPEACHMENT DELAY ‘ABSURD,’ PREDICTS SHE’LL BACK DOWN ‘SOONER OR LATER’

McConnell on Monday said Pelosi’s delay in sending articles of impeachment is an “absurd” position to take, saying the speaker “apparently believes she can tell us how to run the trial.”

“I wish this were a judicial proceeding, but keep in mind if it were, then [House Intelligence Committee Chairman] Adam Schiff would not have been leading the investigation, 60 House Democrats would not have made up their minds before the first syllable of the [Robert] Mueller [Russia] report,” Gowdy said Monday. “I mean you had Eric Swalwell [House Judiciary Committee member] investigating the president while he was trying to become the president. So you would never have that in a real judicial proceeding.”

Chicago could have its warmest Christmas Day for 25 years as chances of a ‘white Christmas’ dwindle across country

Chicago is poised for its warmest Christmas in 25 years, while record warm temperatures are expected to quash chances of a white Christmas.

Weather forecasts for Chicago show it will reach a high of 52 degrees on Christmas Day – a record not seen since 1994, according to data from the National Weather Service.

Other cities, meanwhile, are expecting their warmest temperatures in years, dwindling chances of a “white Christmas” – which is defined by the National Weather Service “as having 1 inch or more of snow on the ground Christmas morning.”

WHITE CHRISTMAS IN THE FORECAST? HERE’S WHAT HISTORY AND FORECASTERS SAY ARE THE CHANCES

Locations in the U.S. with the highest probability of a white Christmas include most of Idaho, Minnesota, Maine, and Upstate New York, where chances increase to over 80 percent. In the Allegheny Mountains of Pennsylvania and West Virginia, a roughly 50 percent chance exist.

New York and Philadelphia are looking at highs in the mid-40s, while Dallas and Houston will experience temperatures in the lower 70s. Washington, D.C. is forecasted to experience a high of 50 degrees.

Officials say the warmer weather could alleviate the usual Christmas crush at airports.

According to TSA officials, up to 50,000 people are expected to travel through New York City’s LaGuardia Airport on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. New Jersey’s Newark Liberty International Airport is expecting higher numbers.

Fox News contributors Jessica Tarlov and Katie Pavlich clashed on “America’s Newsroom” Monday while House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s decision to withhold the articles of impeachment against President Trump from the Senate in a bid to gain leverage over setting terms for a trial.

“There is this fundamental dishonesty going on amongst Republicans,” Tarlov said. “The president did it on his Twitter account this morning where he said that Nancy Pelosi oversaw the most unfair trial in congressional history,” she added.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., is making a renewed push to issue subpoenas demanding testimony and documents as part of the trial, citing new emails related to the withholding of Ukraine military aid — even as Republicans reject the demands as premature.

“It wasn’t a trial in the House. It’s a trial in the Senate and when you have a trial, there are witnesses and there are documents,” Tarlov said.

In a letter to fellow senators, Schumer cited multiple records, including an email from Office of Management and Budget Associate Director Michael Duffey to Defense Department officials, sent roughly an hour-and-a-half after Trump’s famous July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The email showed a push to place the aid on hold after Trump requested Ukraine’s help in political investigations.

“Democrats aren’t interested in any kind of fairness when it comes to this process,” Pavlich pushed back. “Until she hands the articles over as she’s supposed to, if she really is interested in a trial, Mitch McConnell and Republicans can’t do anything about it.”

“It’s quite rich for Democrats now to come back and say, we believe in fairness and we want to have all of these witnesses when Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler repeatedly denied a number of Republican witnesses during the House impeachment inquiry,” Pavlich added.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., has objected to Schumer’s demands for subpoenas, claiming it was the job of the House impeachment inquiry to collect facts ahead of an impeachment trial.

‘Friends’ cast has stayed close for 25 years by ‘leaning on each other’ in times of need

Good friends are hard to find.

In the 15 years since the popular sitcom “Friends” went off the air after a legendary 10-season run, many of its core stars continue to remain true to the series’ name.

Despite the busy lives the former costars lead, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry always make a point to reconnect. However, converging as real-life friends takes more planning than one might imagine, partly due to the fact that they reside in different places.

A recent soiree, which later became the scene for Aniston’s first-ever Instagram-breaking post, served as a cozy connection for the former on-screen pals, however People magazine reported on Monday the candid-looking moment actually took “a lot of planning.”

“It wasn’t spontaneous,” an insider told the outlet. “But they had the most fantastic dinner. There was a lot of laughing and hugs. You would think they see each other all the time.”

The cast exuded an authentic dynamic that permeated through television sets when the show debuted in 1994 – and in navigating the level of fame each of the cast members now had to experience, a familial bond was formed within the cohort of actors.

“They were truly friends,” the insider maintained. “There was no behind-the-scenes drama. They all had the same goal.”

The sisterhood between Aniston, Cox and Kudrow has been easy to spot as the trio maintained their tight-knit relationship through supporting each other during high-profile divorces. Cox, 55, was married to David Arquette – who made his own “Friends” cameo as a stalker – from 1999-2013, while Aniston endured publicized splits from Brad Pitt – who also made a Thanksgiving cameo – in 2005 and Justin Theroux in 2017.

Still, even with the years of separation, the source said the group always kept close tabs on one another.

“They have really leaned on each other,” the insider revealed of the cast, while a second source told the magazine, “They follow each other’s lives. The fact that they have been there for each other in happy and in sad times says a lot.”

Last month, Aniston, 50, revealed on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” that the cast of the show has been “working on something” other than a reboot and, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the cast is currently in talks to reunite for a special on HBO Max.
