A Slovenian tennis player attempting to get into the Australian Open was forced to retire from her qualifying match after suffering a coughing fit due to the raging wildfires plaguing the country.

Dalila Jakupovic, 28, dropped to her knees during her qualifying match against Stefanie Vogele in the middle of the second set Tuesday. She appeared to struggle while gasping for air.

“I was really scared that I would collapse,” Jakupovic told Australian Associated Press. “I don’t have asthma and never had breathing problems. I actually like heat. The physio came again and I thought it would be better. But the points were a bit longer and I just couldn’t breathe anymore and I just fell on the floor.”

Jakupovic said it was “not fair” that officials asked players to take the court in those conditions.

“It’s not healthy for us. I was surprised, I thought we would not be playing today but we don’t have much choice.”

Australia’s Environmental Protection Authority said the air quality in the state was deemed “hazardous” and officials were advising people to stay away from the smoke.

Florida police department cuts ties with Antonio Brown after profane outburst

A Florida police department cut ties with former NFL star Antonio Brown after the wide receiver’s outburst at officers outside his home Monday, which was live-streamed on social media.

It was the third domestic incident involving Brown in the last three months, Hollywood police said in a statement Monday. According to CBS Miami, the latest incident, which included a profanity-laced tirade aimed at officers, was the last straw and police told Brown he was no longer welcome as a donor and volunteer for the Police Athletic League. Police returned the unemployed wide receiver’s donation.

ANTONIO BROWN FILMS PROFANITY-LACED TIRADE AT EX-GIRLFRIEND, POLICE IN FRONT OF HIS KIDS OUTSIDE FLORIDA HOME

“We made the decision to sever ties between Mr. Brown and the Hollywood Police Athletic League,” public information officer Christian Lata said in a statement. “We did not want our youth to be subject to this type of behavior nor emulate the actions of Mr. Brown.”

Lata said that Brown used profanity in front of his children. Police said Brown’s donation to the 7-on-7 league was returned Jan. 9.

“These incidents have caused an irreparable rift between the Police Department and PAL and Mr. Brown.”

According to ESPN, Brown was also given a trespass warning because the department “did not want him to continue to affect our youth nor influence them in a negative way.”

Brown responded to the statement on Twitter, saying “Hollywood police and I need a meeting unless I’m going to show their track record of my injustice consistently.”

Brown live-streamed a confrontation with his ex-girlfriend Chelsie Kyriss and Hollywood police outside of his home. Brown’s children appeared to be present as the wide receiver yelled profanities at police and Kyriss, accusing her of trying to steal a Bentley that was parked in his driveway after coming to pick up her kids for school.

The former New England Patriots, Oakland Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver filmed the incident on Instagram as police responded to the scene and began questioning him, he got angrier. A sergeant then asked whether Brown had gifted the car to Kyriss.

“I’m telling you this is my f—–g car,” Brown said. “This car is registered [to] Antonio Brown, you want me to show you it? You guys already know that.”

Brown told police that he had evicted Kyriss from his home and only allowed her back to the house to get their children’s clothes and take them to school. He claimed that he had already filed a restraining order against Kyriss and asked officers to jail her for allegedly trying to steal one of his cars.

“This b—h is broke. She don’t drive Bentleys,” Brown said. “Look at her, she’s a f—–g lost cause. Look at her!”

Brown then began to scream at her from his doorstep while Kyriss was across the street. According to TMZ Sports, Brown threw a bag of penis-shaped gummies at the woman’s direction.

“Bag of d—s for the d—s,” Brown said. “Chelsea, here go eat the bag of d—s.”

Brown continued the yelling as officers and Kyriss began to leave.

He repeatedly called Kyriss a bum a— h-e and called on Hollywood police to get out.

Trump says LBJ could be ‘looking up’ from hell, echoing remark about Dingell

President Trump caught some flak in Michigan last month after suggesting that a longtime lawmaker from the state who had recently died might be “looking up” at the gathering from hell.

On Tuesday in Wisconsin, Trump made a similar remark, this time about President Lyndon B. Johnson.

Trump made the comment while defending his July phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which sparked his impeachment by the House of Representatives after he allegedlly asked Zelensky to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter’s involvement in the country.

“This is based on a perfect phone call. Did anybody read the transcript? It’s a perfect call,” he told his supporters. “In fact, if you go back and look at Lyndon Johnson, all of ‘em, you know, Lyndon Johnson was sort of a tough guy. Can you imagine his phone calls? He’s probably looking down — or looking up — and he’s probably saying these people have gone crazy.”

TRUMP GETS HELL FROM DEBBIE DINGELL AFTER SAYING DEM’S LATE HUSBAND MAY BE ‘LOOKING UP’ AT MICHIGAN RALLY

The comment drew criticism on Twitter, including from frequent Trump critic George Conway, the attorney husband of White House senior adviser Kellyanne Conway.

“Trump is hoping to meet LBJ I guess,” Conway wrote.

Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, D-Ill., tweeted, “We can listen to recordings of many of LBJ’s calls and, hard as many of them can be to listen to now for many reasons, he didn’t ask foreign governments to intervene in our elections in exchange for congressionally authorized military aid.”

Last month in Michigan, Trump told supporters that former Rep. John Dingell, who represented Michigan for 60 years until his death last February, might be “looking up” at them.

Dingell’s widow, Rep. Debbie Dingell, tweeted at the time Trump’s comment made her “healing much harder.”

Illinois zoo staff, visitors heartbroken after female lion euthanized less than 2 weeks after longtime mate

In just two weeks, the Brookfield Zoo in Illinois has been forced to euthanize both of its African lions.

On Tuesday, the Chicago Zoological Society announced that Isis, a 14-year-old female lion, was found injured and lying on the floor of her enclosure’s moat. Officials believe Isis fell sometime Monday morning after animal care staff checked on her around 9 a.m.

Despite intensive treatment by the veterinary staff, she reportedly suffered “significant injuries” and “the difficult decision was made” to humanely euthanize her, according to the zoological society.

“The safety and well-being of the animals in our care is our utmost priority,” said Bill Zeigler, senior vice president of animal programs. “Although it is unclear what caused her fall, we are reviewing all aspects of this tragic occurrence.”

Isis’s passing was devastating for zoo staff considering her longtime mate Zenda — Brookfield’s 13-year-old male African lion — was euthanized Jan. 2 after his health had declined dramatically.

He would have turned 14 in July.

“Just before Christmas, animal care staff observed Zenda having difficulty standing and walking,” a Jan. 3 news release said. “Over the past week, veterinarians had been treating his symptoms with medication to help ease the pain. Preliminary necropsy results revealed Zenda had several degenerative discs in his spine that had ruptured as a result of his advanced age and were inoperable.”

Both lions had arrived at the zoo in May 2008 and were routinely seen “grooming one another other and sleeping together,” according to Tuesday’s release.

They were also reportedly loved “by staff and visitors alike.”

An Illinois woman missing since late December has been found dead in the trunk of her car on Chicago’s West Side.

Sureel Dabawala, 34, was reported missing by her family after she failed to return to her Schaumburg home Dec. 30, according to an alert from Schaumburg police. The family said she had gone to a local gym, the Chicago Tribune reported.

On Monday, her body determined to be unresponsive was found wrapped inside a blanket in the trunk of her Lexus vehicle around 8:34 p.m., Chicago police said. The car was found by private investigators hired by Dabawala’s family, according to Chicago’s FOX 32.

Authorities did not say whether they suspected foul play in the case, citing a continuing investigation.

After finding her, the investigators called Chicago police as well as Dabawala’s father — who had a key to the vehicle and was able to open the trunk, according to the Chicago Tribune.

She was pronounced dead less than a half-hour later, FOX 32 reported. Dabawala had been considered an “endangered” missing person because of a medical condition, police added.

A police spokeswoman said the initial report didn’t mention any type of trauma on the victim’s body. She was last seen driving in the Lexus, according to FOX 32.

FLORIDA POLICE HAVE SUSPECT AFTER 4 BODIES FOUND IN HOME LINKED TO MISSING FAMILY

The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed the body was Dabawala on Tuesday morning, while an autopsy was scheduled later Tuesday to determine a cause of death, the outlet reported.

Dabawala’s sister told the Tribune that she had an outgoing personality and was highly educated.

“This is someone who had her MBA from Loyola,” her unnamed sister told the outlet. “She was a very smart girl, a very lively person. It’s just devastating.”

No arrests have been made, according to FOX 32. Area detectives are conducting the investigation into her death.

Vice President Mike Pence told a crowd of Trump supporters in Wisconsin Tuesday that the Green Bay Packers are just days away from beating House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game over the weekend.

PENCE RESPONDS TO GOP SEN. LEE’S CRITICISM OF IRAN INTEL BRIEFING: SOLEIMANI STRIKE PREVENTED ‘IMMINENT’ ATTACK

“We’re 11 months away from Election Day, and we’re just five days away from when the Green Bay Packers defeat Nancy Pelosi’s 49ers,” Pence said at a rally in Milwaukee. The crowd then erupted into chants of “Go Pack Go,” SF Gate reported.

The two teams are scheduled to face off at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., on Sunday.

PELOSI IS A BIG SPORTS FAN

In 2017, Pence left a 49ers game against his home state’s Indianapolis Colts when several players on the San Francisco team knelt in protest during the national anthem. It was later reported that Pence’s brief visit – which involved flying Air Force 1 from Las Vegas to Los Angeles for the game – cost taxpayers more than $250,000.

Pelosi, who represents California’s 12th congressional district, which includes San Francisco, told reporters last week that she wanted to go to the 49ers’ Divisional Round playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings but instead needed to “save our country from peril” by remaining in Washington.

She announced Tuesday that the entire House would vote this week on whether to send the two articles of impeachment against President Trump to the Senate for trial.

Pelosi had been withholding the articles hoping to receive a commitment from Senate Republicans to see additional documents and testimony as part of trial proceedings. That commitment never came, but Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., told reporters Tuesday he was considering allowing both sides – Democrats and Republicans – to call additional witnesses.

She has not commented on whether she’ll attend the NFC Championship Game.

‘The Conners’ stars Michael Fishman, Laurie Metcalf talk upcoming live political episode

The cast of ABC’s “The Conners” has a storied history with politics, and it looks like they have no plans to change that.

The show, which focuses on a conservative-leaning working-class family, is a spin-off of “Roseanne.” (The original series was canceled after the show’s star, Roseanne Barr, sent a racist tweet about Valerie Jarrett — a former aide to then-President Barack Obama — in 2018.)

Now, “The Conners” is set to air a live episode of the show on Tuesday, Feb. 11 — the night of the New Hampshire primary that kicks off the 2020 political season.

MARTIN SHEEN SAYS HE SUPPORTS ELIZABETH WARREN’S POLICIES

Star Michael Fishman hopes the politically-charged episode will inspire democratic action.

“In our country, voting is such a powerful thing and I don’t know that we always spend the time to encourage people to vote,” Fishman, 38, recently told Fox News at the ABC portion of the Television Critics Association (TCA) event in Pasadena, Calif. “So my hope is that what we do is we can show what real-life issues kind of revolve around some of the things that are going on in the debates and other things.”

Fishman said that in the show, people will see “how a family comes together and maybe disagrees about certain things, but that we all encourage people to vote and we can do something positive and bring some humor.”

‘JEOPARDY!’ CONTESTANT KEN JENNINGS ON ALEX TREBEK, JOINING ‘GREATEST OF ALL TIME’

Also present at the event was Laurie Metcalf, who starred in “Roseanne” and now in “The Conners” as Jackie Harris.

Metcalf, 64, revealed that her Tony Award-winning theater background won’t be much help for the special live episode.

“My stage background will not help at all, because even though stage is live, I’ve rehearsed the hell out of it and I know what I’m doing,” the actress said. “So in a live show, it’s going to have some wiggle room either the improv or, you know, something’s going to not stick to the script. That scares the s–t out of me.”

Metcalf also said that she’s putting “extra pressure” on herself for the important episode.

At the TCA event, ABC announced that the episode will incorporate real-time election results into the plot, which will follow the Conners as they discuss the right to vote.

Warren appears to refuse Sanders handshake after clashes over sexism in final Dem debate before Iowa caucuses

Good morning and welcome to Fox News First. Here’s what you need to know as you start your Wednesday …

Sanders clashes with Warren – and the moderators – on sexism charge at heated Iowa debate
The final Democratic presidential debate before the pivotal Feb. 3 Iowa caucuses turned tense Tuesday night, as Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren sparred over the disputed reports that Sanders had privately told Warren in December 2018 that a woman could not realistically become president.

“Well, as a matter of fact, I didn’t say it,” Sanders insisted, after one of the CNN debate’s moderators asserted the conversation had occurred. Later, when asked whether he was unequivocally denying that the conversation took place, he said, “That is correct.”  A debate moderator then immediately and matter-of-factly asked Warren, “What did you think when Senator Sanders told you a woman could not win the election?”

That prompted laughter in the debate hall at Drake University in Des Moines, and a bewildered chuckle from Sanders. Some commentators have suggested the CNN report of Warren and Sanders’ alleged 2018 conversation, which cited sources who were not present for Sanders’ alleged remarks, was a leak from the Warren campaign intended to blunt Sanders’ surge in recent polls.

The Sanders-Warren clash smashed the more than yearlong non-aggression pact between the two candidates and was just one of several flashpoints between the two that emerged during the debate. As the event concluded, Warren appeared to ignore Sanders’ invitation for a handshake.

Sanders had a different focus early in the debate, as he challenged former Vice President Joe Biden’s initial support for the Iraq war, which he called “the worst foreign policy blunder in the modern history of this country.” Click here for more on our top story.

Ted Cruz floats idea of ‘witness reciprocity’ during Trump impeachment trial
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas and a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, pitched the idea of “witness reciprocity” on Tuesday during a meeting with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and other GOP leaders who convened to discuss strategy for the upcoming impeachment trial that will decide if President Trump is removed from office, Fox News has confirmed.

The idea would mean if Democrats call a witness, such as Trump’s former National Security Adviser John Bolton, Republicans would, in turn, be allowed to call a witness. Likely candidates to be subpoenaed by the GOP include former Vice President Joe Biden, his son Hunter Biden, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff and the unidentified whistleblower who reported a July phone call between President Trump and the leader of Ukraine.

The debate over possible impeachment witnesses comes as the Democrat-controlled House prepares for an imminent vote on advancing articles of impeachment to the Senate. Click here for more.

Avenatti arrested by IRS agents during California Bar Association hearing
California attorney Michael Avenatti was arrested by IRS agents Tuesday evening during a break in a disciplinary hearing in Los Angeles over allegations that the high-profile lawyer scammed a client out of $840,000.

The arrest occurred outside the State Bar Court, where the State Bar of California has initiated proceedings against him. Avenatti is accused of fraud, cheating on his taxes and lying to investigators as federal prosecutors allege that he embezzled funds from clients. The former attorney for porn star Stormy Daniels has pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

Thom Mrozek, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles, told Fox News that Avenatti was arrested on suspicion of violating his pre-trial release. Click here for more.

Florida woman pleads guilty to child neglect after 4-year-old died in hot SUV

A Florida woman accused of leaving her boyfriend’s son in a hot car pleaded guilty Monday to child neglect, court records show.

Mariah Butler, 28, was also facing an aggravated manslaughter charge in relation to the child’s death in 2018, but prosecutors dropped the charge after she agreed to the plea deal.

Logan Starling, 4, was found unconscious in the vehicle with an internal temperature of 108 degrees. He was later pronounced dead at a local area hospital.

Butler allegedly drove Starling and four other kids to Elite Preparatory Academy in Orange County, Fla., on Sept 28, 2018, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

She left the children in the car to get a package from her mother, who was also in the parking lot of the private school, the outlet reported.

When Butler returned, she let the children out of the SUV and claimed Starling was part of the group. Video surveillance allegedly showed her walking into the school with only four kids, the Sentinel reported.

More than six hours later, Butler went to check the vehicle after school employees wondered why Starling wasn’t there, the outlet said. When she returned, Butler was reportedly heard screaming for someone to call 911.

She was arrested six months later following an investigation.

During a September hearing, the outlet reported Butler as saying, “I love all my children” and “tried my hardest.”

The mother of Starling, 26-year-old Shelby Hester said, “I’m one that has to live without him now for the rest of my life,” according to the Sentinel.

A couple based in southern California has been missing since last week after leaving for Mexico to collect rent checks from their tenants at properties they own in Tijuana, according to reports Tuesday.

Jesus Ruben Lopez Guillen, 70, and his wife Maria Teresa Lopez, 65, left their home in Garden Grove, Calif., in Orange County in their pick-up truck Friday morning, Garden Grove Police Department Lt. Carl Whitney told Los Angeles’ KNBC-TV.  The couple was expected to return to California Friday afternoon. Their daughter reported them missing at about 7:10 p.m.

The daughter told authorities she was tracking her parents using the Find My Phone app. She said the app showed her parents were at one of their properties in Tijuana. Despite this, she said a relative told her over the phone that no one was at that location when the family member went to check on them.

The phone later stopped transmitting a signal. Police in Tijuana found the couple’s vehicle near the property, Whitney said. FBI and Mexican authorities have been notified about the search for the couple.

The couple planned to arrive in Tijuana and first go to the bank to take out cash in pesos, EN24 reported, citing Raul Gutierrez, a spokesman for the Baja California Prosecutor’s Office in Mexico.

The next stop was supposed to be the exchange house, where they were to change the money into U.S. dollars. The couple then planned to visit tenants in several houses in the Obrera neighborhood to collect rent in cash. Mexican authorities are still working to verify if the couple visited these locations, Gutierrez said.
