Chris Wallace claims Trump’s tweets were creating ‘real turmoil’ inside the Justice Department

Fox News Sunday” anchor Chris Wallace said Friday that President Trump’s tweets about cases before the Department of Justice was causing “turmoil” while Attorney General Bill Barr and rank-and-file attorneys were trying to do their work.

Wallace explained on “Bill Hemmer Reports” that the situation came to a head this week when Trump tweeted harsh criticism of the initial sentence recommendation for longtime Republican political consultant Roger Stone and added that Barr’s response in an ABC News interview Thursday — in which the attorney general said Trump’s tweets were making it “impossible” to do his job — was an appropriate action.

Barr told Thomas that the DOJ made the decision to lessen the recommended sentence before Trump tweeted a similar sentiment, but that the timing gave Democrats the opportunity to crow that there was some undue pressure put on the department by the White House.

Fox News’ John Roberts reported moments before Wallace’s remarks that several Democratic senators have sent a letter to Barr calling for his resignation. Those senators — Patty Murray of Washington, Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, Edward Markey of Massachusetts, Mazie Hirono of Hawaii, Ronald Wyden of Oregon, and Bernie Sanders of Vermont — claim that Barr has betrayed the trust of the American people.

Wallace said the attorney general is a nominee of the president’s, certain policy issues and “politically charged” cases can cause tenuous situations, saying: “For the president to weigh in, a lot of people think the criminal justice system should be kept out of politics.”

Bravo star Ryan Serhant and wife Emilia on how they make their marriage work

Being on a reality TV show can put a lot of strain on a marriage, but “Million Dollar Listing: New York” couple Ryan Serhant and Emilia Bechrakis Serhant work hard at staying connected even with cameras around.

“I would say don’t let it change you as a couple, but use the time that you’re filming as time together,” Emilia told Fox News at a Godiva event in New York City just in time for Valentine’s Day. “We are really busy people. We’re working all the time so when we’re together filming, it’s our time together.”

“And be protective of each other,” she added.

“And always have a goal in mind,” Ryan explained. “Like at the end of the day, what are you doing this for? What’s the point of the show you’re on? What’s the point of the content you’re making?”

The couple met in NYC but come from different cultural backgrounds with Ryan being raised in New England while Emilia was born in New York but grew up in Greece and then went to college in the UK.

“So I am from a very big Greek family and culturally we are different,” she said. “We’re more in each other’s business. Ryan’s family is very New England, but they’re very proper in that they don’t meddle in our business. But I think we actually complement each other very well.”

“He’s always excited about holidays or with my family because he can do whatever he wants, he can chill, wear whatever he wants. When I’m with his family, I love sitting with his dad. I love the structure of everything and the peace and quiet,” Emilia said with a laugh.

The couple welcomed their first child together, baby Zena, a year ago and being parents has transformed their lives. “Zena walks, she dances, climbs. Every time she hears music, she moves her little feet,” Emilia gushed.

Last season on the Bravo reality show, it seemed like everyone was having kids but the Serhants actually spent the most time with Andy Cohen and his son, Ben. “We still haven’t had a play date with Steve and his baby, but we need to. We’re working and planning that right now. Louis is traveling and Fredrick moved,” Ryan said.

“We already started filming season nine,” he said. “We’re filming in this massive new building. We’re selling some amazing townhouses and doing some crazy renovations. The cameras are following the renovation of our own townhouse. So we just have to up the ante, which is super stressful.”

Union City police in California made an arrest in the previously unsolved murder of two juvenile boys on Friday after they were viciously gunned down, while sitting in a van outside of a school, shortly before Thanksgiving last year.

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, a Democrat, made the announcement alongside law enforcement, detailing the arrest of Jason Cornejo, 18, of Castro Valley, Fox 2 reported.

Police also reportedly arrested a 17-year-old boy who was not immediately identified. Both suspects were charged by the Alameda County District Attorney with the murders of Sean Withington, 14, and Kevin Hernandez, 11.

Withington and Hernandez were sitting in a van outside Searles Elementary School, 30 miles southeast of San Fransisco when the murderer opened fire on the car. Residents called 911 after hearing the shots ring out around 1:30 a.m. Police arrived to find Withington had died on the scene, while Hernandez perished in transit to the hospital.

Both suspects happened to already be in custody on unrelated charges when police made the connection between them and the shooting.

Prosecutors plan to add gang enhancements and special circumstances to the case.

Authorities said the defendants were acting in connection with a street gang — a theory law enforcement was considering shortly after the killing. They did not, however, go into detail on who may have ordered the hit or what the motive was behind the killing.

Prosecutors also said a rap song was posted to the internet, praising the alleged involvement of the two defendants in the murders, according to Fox 2.

Trump slams Manchin as a ‘puppet’ – even after West Virginia Democrat signals he’s open to endorsing president

Westlake Legal Group Manchin-Trump_AP Trump slams Manchin as a 'puppet' – even after West Virginia Democrat signals he’s open to endorsing president Marisa Schultz fox-news/politics/trump-impeachment-inquiry fox-news/person/donald-trump fox news fnc/politics fnc article 8040705b-c283-536e-b0c6-70d127215069

President Trump on Friday continued his assault on Sen. Joe Manchin even though the moderate Democrat signaled he wants to make peace with the president after his impeachment guilty vote.

Trump called Manchin a “puppet” for Democrat leaders — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Chuck Schumer — while praising West Virginia’s other senator, Shelley Moore Capito, a Republican, as a “great person.”

“I was told by many that Manchin was just a puppet for Schumer & Pelosi. That’s what he is!” Trump tweeted.

VULNERABLE HOUSE DEMS SOUND ALARM ABOUT POTENTIAL SANDERS NOMINATION: ‘IT’S BAD’

Manchin, D-W.Va., did not cross party lines to vote with Republicans and found Trump guilty in the Senate impeachment trial, denying the GOP a chance to tout a bipartisan acquittal. Instead, the lone party defector of either side was Republican Sen. Mitt Romney.

Manchin, who is up for reelection in 2024, said he’s open to backing Trump for his reelection in 2020, despite believing he abused his power and obstructed Congress.

MANCHIN, SWING-STATE SENATORS SWARMED WITH DEM HUGS AFTER VOTING TO CONVICT TRUMP

“I don’t rule anything out. I really don’t rule anything out,” Manchin told Politico. “I’m always going to be for what’s best for my country. Everybody can change. Maybe the president will change, you know? Maybe that uniter will come out, versus the divider.”

Manchin said he will be more open to backing Trump if he thinks West Virginia has been better off under the president and if the Democrats nominate someone who is too out of step with his centrist beliefs.

“I hope he changes,” Manchin said of Trump. “I’m looking for that person that has heart and soul and compassion.”

Since Trump’s impeachment acquittal, the president has taken a victory lap and began exacting revenge on those he’s deemed disloyal. He’s blasted Romney and forced out Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman and Ambassador Gordon Sondland, who testified in his impeachment probe.

While Trump and Manchin have forged a relationship before, the president has ridiculed him on Twitter as “Munchkin” since his impeachment vote.

Trump, who is very popular in West Virginia, campaigned against Manchin during his 2018 reelection. But Manchin forgave him immediately afterward and now hopes the president can also move on from impeachment grudges.

“It’s not different [from] when he wanted to have lunch the week after I was elected. And he said: ‘I knew we couldn’t beat you.’ And I said, ‘It wasn’t for lack of trying.’ Boom, it’s over, let it go. I did. I’m asking him to do the same thing I did,” Manchin said at the time. “He tried to remove me.”

Fans hoping to attend the Feb. 24 memorial service for Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles can now register for tickets, the Lakers announced Friday.

Tickets for the event are priced in three tiers: $24.02 each, two for $224, and $224 each — combinations of numbers that represent the No. 24 worn by Bryant over his final ten NBA seasons and the No. 2 worn by Gianna on her youth basketball team.

Proceeds from the ticket sales will benefit the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation, the Lakers said.

Ticket registration hours were scheduled from 11 a.m. Friday through 10 p.m. Monday through the Ticketmaster Verified Fan system. On Tuesday, registered fans will receive emails with non-transferable personal access codes that will allow them to participate in the public sale on Wednesday morning.

In a move apparently intended to prevent a repeat of the massive crowds that flocked to Staples Center after Bryant’s death, the Lakers said the memorial will not be shown on exterior video screens at the arena or in the adjacent L.A. Live entertainment area.

MEMORIAL HELD FOR COACH, FAMILY KILLED IN BRYANT CRASH

Members of the public without tickets to the memorial were advised not to come near the arena or L.A. Live because they will not be able to enter the area, the team said.

The Lakers’ statement did not include any details about the memorial itself.

Staples Center, known as “the house that Kobe built,” is where the NBA All-Star played most of his storied two-decade career for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter and seven others were killed Jan. 26 when the helicopter they were aboard crashed in Calabasas, Calif., as they were flying to a basketball tournament where Gianna was to play with her team.

Bryant and Gianna were buried Feb. 7 at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar, Calif. near the family home, according to death certificates.

On Monday, several thousand people came to Angel Stadium of Anaheim to mourn three of the other victims: Orange Coast College baseball coach John Altobelli, his wife, Keri, and their daughter, Alyssa, who was Gianna’s teammate.

Also killed in the crash were Christina Mauser, who helped Bryant coach the girl’s basketball team, as well as Sarah Chester and her daughter, Payton, another of Gianna’s teammates, and pilot Ara Zobayan.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.

Los Angeles leaders warned of bigotry against the Asian community on Thursday after several incidents of bullying and orchestrated hoaxes over the novel coronavirus were reported in the area.

More than 64,000 people have been sickened by the COVID-19 virus and over 1,300 people have died, mostly in mainland China. Los Angeles has only one confirmed case.

“We’re not going to stand for hate,” Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis told reporters at a news conference.

CHINA’S CORONAVIRUS SURVIVORS MAY FACE MENTAL HURDLES ONCE OUTBREAK ENDS

Fears over the virus have resulted in hoaxes and hostilities against the region’s Asian community, the largest in the United States.

A petition urging schools in the suburb of Alhambra to cancel classes over the virus had 14,000 signatures. A boy of Asian descent needed an MRI after he was bullied and beaten this month at a San Fernando Valley school, said Robin Toma, the executive director of the county’s Human Relations Commission, which works on hate crime prevention, the LAist reported.

In Carson, a flyer with a fake seal of the World Health Organization told residents to avoid Asian-American businesses like Panda Express because of the outbreak, according to Reuters.

Toma said people wearing face masks have also had insults hurled at them. He urged anyone being targeted because of their race to report the incident to authorities.

“We need you to step up and speak out when you see it happening to others,” he said.

China has suffered the vast majority of coronavirus cases since the outbreak first began in the Hubei province in December. There are 15 confirmed cases in the U.S.

There will likely be more cases in the coming weeks, “including among other people recently returned from Wuhan,” the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said Thursday.

Fox News contributor Ari Fleischer doubled down Friday on Attorney General William Barr’s comments criticizing President Trump’s social media comments about Justice Department cases and investigations.

“Presidents should comment on justice matters when it comes to matters of categories of crime,” the former White House press secretary told “Outnumbered Overtime.” “‘We’re not going to go after marijuana possessions. We’re going to go hard and throw the book at gangs.’ These are decisions presidents can make — should make and they should direct the Attorney General and the Department of Justice to follow through.

TRUMP DENIES INTERFERING IN ROGER STONE CASE, STAYS MUM ON POSSIBLE PARDON

“But an individual criminal case, particularly one of an associate of the president, White Houses can tarnish that if they comment on them,” Fleischer added. “So, yes, the president has a role but it’s a broader policy-based role, it is not a specific case role.

“If they comment on a specific case, it can politicize justice,” Fleischer said.

Trump insisted Friday he has a “legal right” to intervene in criminal cases — but has so far chosen not to — amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Barr’s decision to overrule federal prosecutors’ initial sentence recommendation for longtime Trump associate Roger Stone.

“The president has never asked me to do anything in a criminal case,” Trump tweeted, quoting Barr’s remarks in an interview with ABC News Thursday. “This doesn’t mean that I do not have, as President, the legal right to do so, I do, but I have so far chosen not to!”

Barr also told ABC that the president’s social media posts made it “impossible for me to do my job.”

“I’m gonna do what I think is right, and you know… I cannot do my job here at the department with a constant background commentary that undercuts me,” Barr said at the time.

Barr is scheduled to appear before the House Judiciary Committee March 31 to address the handling of the Stone case and other issues.

All four prosecutors withdrew from the Stone case after top DOJ officials moved to soften the initial recommendation that Stone serve between 87 and 108 months in prison. Trump has denied interfering in the case, but has been extremely vocal about it — saying Stone “was treated horribly” and called a initial sentence recommendation “a disgrace.”

Is the novel coronavirus here to stay?

Could the novel coronavirus one day be as commonplace as the seasonal flu?

Despite rigorous containment efforts, medical experts working to understand the virus, now known as COVID-19, have acknowledged such a possibility — including Dr. Robert Redfield, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), who said this week the virus “is probably with us beyond this season, beyond this year.”

WILL THE CORONAVIRUS DIE OUT AS THE WEATHER WARMS?

When speaking to Fox News, Dr. William Schaffner, the medical director of the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID), also recognized the possibility, but quickly noted it’s likely too soon to know for sure.

“COVID-19 is a respiratory virus, and if it behaves like other respiratory viruses, including influenza [the flu], we might anticipate that it will abate as the weather gets warmer,” he said. But, he added, “It may become part of our usual cold and flu season.”

CATS ARE WEARING CORONAVIRUS MASKS IN CHINA

That said, “We can’t be sure,” he said.

“It’s a new virus, and it may not have read the textbooks. That’s why the current, ongoing research to develop vaccines and antiviral drugs that are effective against coronaviruses is so important,” he continued.

The virus is new in humans — meaning medical experts at this time “cannot predict the long-term impact on the global community,” Schaffner said. “We are now in the containment phase and are working to restrict the virus’ spread in the U.S. and internationally.”

“Clinicians are rapidly diagnosing cases, putting patients in isolation and providing medical care. Public health officials are tracking contacts and testing them for the virus. So far, we have had very few cases in the U.S., and they have been close contacts of confirmed cases. We are seeing a similar response around the world,” he added.

CHINA’S CORONAVIRUS SURVIVORS MAY FACE MENTAL HURDLES ONCE OUTBREAK ENDS

To date, the U.S. has confirmed 15 cases of the novel virus, which has sickened more than 64,000 people worldwide and claimed some 1,383 lives.

Speaking to CNN, Redfield said he thinks COVID-19 could eventually “find a foothold and we will get community-based transmission.”

A scuba diver off the coast of Florida has captured stunning video footage of a huge great white shark, said to be 15 to 20 feet long.

Space Coast Daily reports that diver Jim Cocci filmed the shark near the Breakers Reef off Florida’s East Coast.

Cocci posted a video of the massive shark on Facebook on Feb. 11 “Only need two words to describe diving West Palm with Walker’s Dive Charters today: ‘Great White’!”

The video has racked up 55,000 views since it was posted.

MASSIVE GREAT WHITE SHARK FILMED JUST FEET AWAY FROM OBLIVIOUS PADDLE BOARDER

On Friday, Cocci provided a heartwarming update related to the imposing apex predator. “Our recently documented Great White shark has been determined by the Massachusetts Shark Research Program to be a new discovery,” he wrote on Facebook. “Our ‘new’ shark has been entered into the database and is named ‘Colleen’ after my loving wife, very best friend and greatest dive buddy – ever! Happy Valentine’s Day, Honey!!”

Great white sharks are classified as a vulnerable species by the World Wildlife Fund.
