Mike Pompeo Blames Iran For Massive Attack On Saudi Arabian Oil Facilities

Earlier today a major Saudi Arabian crude oil field was hit by an attack. The first reports said that the attack had been carried out by 10 drones (I don’t know how they convinced Jim Swift and the rest of the Bulwark gang to strap on explosive jet packs and yet… okay, that’s a joke, there is no known jetpack that could lift Swift) and the Iranian allied and supported Houthis in Yemen claimed responsibility.

According to the Wall Street Journal, this oil field produces about 5% of the world’s crude oil and is now off line. The Saudis claim they will have it back in operation by Monday. The operative word is “claim.”

Some things in the story, however, never made sense. For instance, the range was well over 500 miles from Houthi territory (here I’m just measuring from the Yemeni border) which is extreme for the drones they have, particularly if they are carrying enough ordnance to cause the damage we see in the video. The Houthi use the Iranian Qasef-1 drone which has a range of about less than 300 miles on a suicide mission and can carry a payload of about 60-lbs. Blame me for the bad graphic:

Westlake Legal Group saudi-strikes-620x710 Mike Pompeo Blames Iran For Massive Attack On Saudi Arabian Oil Facilities Yemen Saudi Arabia Politics Mike Pompeo Iran International Affairs Houthi Front Page Stories Foreign Policy Featured Story Allow Media Exception

It didn’t take long, however, for imagery to be produced that indicated something different:

What you’re looking at there appears to be a cruise missile that pancaked enroute. This makes much more sense than an drone because the we know the Houthi have deployed cruise missiles before and the range and payload make the attack and the damage from the attack plausible.

Operative word: plausible.

Just a couple of hours ago, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo killed off a perfectly good narrative.

What does he mean that there is no evidence the attack came from Yemen?

Saudi and American officials are investigating the possibility that attacks on Saudi oil facilities Saturday involved cruise missiles launched from Iraq, questioning Yemeni rebel claims of responsibility, people familiar with the matter said.

But officials around the globe investigating the attack questioned the Houthi claims and suggested the strike may have come from Iraq, to the north, rather than Yemen, to the south. Iran supports a host of Shiite militias in Iraq.

A direct attack of this scale on Saudi Arabia by Iranian proxy forces in Iraq definitely is a different situation than Yemeni rebels shooting cruise missiles. Rather than the low grade war that Saudi Arabia is involved in with the Houthi, this now threatens to be come a much more significant and broader conflict that could suck in the United States and Israel.

Trump Tells Reporters Bolton Was A ‘Disaster’ On North Korea And ‘Out Of Line’ On Venezuela

President Donald Trump told reporters gathered at the White House Wednesday that now-ousted National Security Adviser John Bolton was a ‘disaster’ on policy related to North Korea, stepped out of line when it came to Venezuela, and had trouble getting along with other administration officials Trump considered invaluable.

Trump was particularly annoyed with Bolton for offending Kim Jong Un with a suggestion that the North Korean leader follow a “Libyan model” of negotiation by turning over his nukes.

“We were set back very badly when John Bolton talked about the Libyan model … what a disaster,” Trump told reporters at the White House.

“He’s using that to make a deal with North Korea? And I don’t blame Kim Jong Un for what he said after that, and he wanted nothing to do with John Bolton. And that’s not a question of being tough. That’s a question of being not smart to say something like that.”

Trump also expressed frustration with the fact that Nicolas Maduro continues to hold on in Venezuela and wasn’t responding to the sanctions and pressure strategy the U.S. was employing. Bolton was said to be a major purveyor of that strategy.

Bolton was also said to be a hard liner when it came to Iran and some reports are indicating Trump is “flirting” with lifting sanctions on Iran or backing a French plan to pay them to come back into compliance with the Obama-era nuclear deal.

Ringo Starr Voiced His Support On Brexit and Remainers are Viciously Turning On Him

The Beatles are considered somewhat holy to many people, especially for those on the left. However, even being a member of the iconic band doesn’t save you from “cancel culture,” as Ringo Starr is finding out.

During an interview, Starr voiced his support for Brexit and noted that he would have if he was still living in the UK as well.

“The people voted…and they have to get on with it,” said Starr.

Starr noted that those who wish to remain in the European Union are complaining that they don’t like the vote and are doing everything in their power to undermine the democratic process in order to deny Brexit its chance at leaving the EU. Starr said that this is what the people voted for and now it’s time to get on with it.

The interviewer asked Starr if he would have voted for Brexit, to which Starr admitted that he would have, saying he thinks it’s a great move.

“I think, you know, to be in control of your own country is a good move,” said Starr.

Britain has voted in favor of leaving the E.U. but each attempt at reaching deals by which to leave it have been stymied by politicians trying to interfere with the process. Funny enough, they’re the ones claiming that they’re trying to protect democracy by doing so.

Current Prime Minister Boris Johnson suspended Parliament in a last-ditch effort to save Brexit, which remainers are arguing is a suspension of Democracy. It’s hard to say that, however, when Parliament are currently the ones trying to block Democracy from happening. Putting government in the corner is the right move by Johnson in order to preserve the will of the people. The same suggestion was given to Americans by its founding fathers.

For Starr to voice his support for Brexit is a hard pill to swallow for many on the left, and they voiced their hurt on Twitter in one form or another.

It’s true that Starr no longer lives in the UK, but his point about a country being in control of itself is no less true. What’s more, it’d be a completely different story for him and the left if he was a remainer.

It’s funny how even some of the most revered people can still get canceled the moment they run afoul of the will of the leftist collective.

Julian ‘Men Can Get Pregnant and Tornadoes are Racist’ Castro Slams Trump – the President’s ‘Bizarre’

On Sunday, 2020 Democratic lunger Julián Castro insulted Trump over his negotiation efforts related to the Taliban and leaders of Afghanistan.

A secret meeting had originally been planned, but it was ultimately canceled, with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo calling any talks “dead” “for the time being.”

Hence, Julián tried to clamp down on the President during a spot on NBC’s Meet the Press:

“This is the worst president when it comes to negotiating, I think, that we’ve had in a very long time.”

Strong words. But at least he said “in a very long time” rather than the seemingly more popular (and much dumber) “ever.” There’s nothing quite like someone imagining they know everything that’s ever happened in history and contrasting it with the record-making evil of Trump.

Castro continued:

“It’s another bizarre episode. It’s more of this erratic behavior that people are tired of.”

Lift the needle from the record, please.

“Another bizarre episode” — interesting choice of words from a guy who stood in front of the world and explained to us that men can get pregnant, sometimes necessitating taxpayer-funded abortions (here).

Would that constitute an instance of the bizarre?

Or how about Wednesday’s episode of the erratic, during which Julián literally claimed weather is racist and goes after non-whites (here)?

And he promised to even the score against those small-minded sectarian cyclones.

He’s saving us from blatantly black-hatin’ blizzards! He’s rescuing us from horrible hood-wearin’ hurricanes!

Back to Meet the Press, the future Equalizer and former Housing and Urban Development secretary outlined his reasons Trump’s shenanigans are bizarre:

“First of all, I think like most Americans, I don’t know what to believe anymore, what comes out of the mouth or the tweet of this president. … But if [a physical trip to Camp David had actually been planned], if it had been planned, that’s bizarre as well. Even though I do support negotiated political settlement there that will increase stability and make sure Afghanistan is not used as a base of terrorist operations, it’s very odd to invite a terrorist organization like that to Camp David. That’s not in keeping with the way that the United States negotiates.”

But, bizarrely, here’s what Julián, apparently, could absolutely believe: that Donald Trump laid back, opened his legs, and a baby came out.

That wouldn’t be bizarre.

And that fact is…well, you know what it is.

JulianForTheFuture.

Take that, racist rain.

US Officials Concerned About Chinese Hurricane Relief Efforts in the Bahamas; Will They Use Tragedy To Gain A Foothold In The Region?

Westlake Legal Group china-flag-dragon US Officials Concerned About Chinese Hurricane Relief Efforts in the Bahamas; Will They Use Tragedy To Gain A Foothold In The Region? National Security Jose Cardenas John Dermody International Affairs Hurricane Dorian Bahamas recovery Front Page Stories Fernando Cutz Featured Story Chinese aggression China Allow Media Exception

Hurricane Dorian has left the Bahamas in a state of devastation and the island-nation will require substantial assistance from the international community in order to recover. Estimates of property damage in the islands go as high as $7 billion.

As crass as it may sound at a time like this, the US would be foolish to ignore the serious national security implications of an international recovery effort taking place so close to our shore.

For good reason, US government officials are worried that China will use the tragedy as an opportunity to gain influence in the region. According to one official who wished to remain anonymous, there is concern that China will use “international aid efforts as a Trojan horse to establish a base of influence just 50 miles from the Florida coast. In the months and years ahead, the U.S. must also pay close attention if China emerges as a key player in the recovery effort.”

Fernando Cutz, a former senior director in the Trump administration’s National Security Council, told NPR:

There are certainly concerns about the Chinese having full access to the region. You could imagine a situation where they would develop intelligence capabilities, intelligence gathering capabilities.

And, of course, they could potentially one day have a base, a naval base or some sort of Chinese military base that close to our shore would pose a very significant national security issue for the United States.

John Dermody, a former deputy legal adviser at the National Security Council also spoke to NPR and said:

The administration will see this as part of a broader concern about China investing in countries as a threat to make potentially those countries beholden to China or indebted to China and to diminish the United States’s influence in the Western Hemisphere. And I would say that the concern is particularly acute where the investment is going to be in information technology. And in light of the catastrophic damage of the Bahamas, I think that is going to be an issue.

The Chinese have made substantial investments in recent years in “energy, infrastructure and mining projects around the world, gaining influence in continents like Africa and South America.”

Axios reports that Chinese tech giant Huawei has helped build telecommunications networks in countries such as the Bahamas, where phone wiring has been largely destroyed by the storm.”

José Cárdenas, who served on the National Security Council during the George W. Bush administration spoke to NPR. He believes that these “concerns are real” and said it is important for “the United States to continue its campaign speaking to the broader region that the Chinese presence isn’t “all sweetness and light.”

Cárdenas added, “The temptation is so great to take advantage of Chinese largesse. But to the peoples of the hemisphere, the United States ought to be very clear in a public diplomacy campaign that the Chinese government largesse comes with a lot of baggage. It comes with a lot of strings attached, and it has implications for democratic institutions and rule of law.”

I’m sure this is very much on the minds of Trump administration officials and that precautions will be taken and surveillance will continue indefinitely.

The Only Reason This Kuwaiti Flag
Isn’t an Iraqi Flag – Is US

Most of the world is neither a friendly nor appreciative place.

No matter what we in the United States do to help the rest of the planet – no matter how much for how many countries – we only continue to be hated and reviled.

A lot of it is not our fault.  Because human nature.

Life is high school on steroids.

Most people in high school really didn’t like the varsity quarterback.  He was athletic.  And popular.  And dated multiple cheerleaders.  Most of the rest of the student body resented him much more than even those who liked him – liked him.

The United States – is the world’s high school quarterback.  Our economic and military prowess – is going to be resented.

The rest of it – is our fault.  Because human nature.

We do insist on sticking our enormous proboscis into all sorts of things and places – where neither it nor we belong.

We have a particular affection for armed invasions – for all the (publicly asserted) right reasons, of course.

We are now almost two decades into Afghanistan.  Which started righteously – we were attacked on 9/11/2001 by Islamist freaks based out of there.

But what should have been at most a six-month endeavor – has dragged on and on and….  With no end in sight.

The things we were told prevented us from leaving in Year Three and Year Eight, and Year Twelve, and… – are exactly the same things we are told prevent us from leaving now.  With no end in sight.

A sad, horrible, horrendous waste of blood, time and treasure – by any rational measure.

One of the many follies this Afghani folly’s proponents have incessantly put forward – since even before we invaded – is that our efforts would “win the hearts and minds of the Afghans.”

Ummm…they still have not.

Green on Blue Attacks:

“‘Green on blue attacks’ is the name given to a growing series of incidents where seemingly rogue Afghan security forces turn their guns on their NATO counterparts.”

Protestors Burn U.S. Flag in Pakistan and Afghanistan

In fact, we never will “win the hearts and minds.”  In Afghanistan – or anywhere else on Earth.  Most especially under arms.

As French politician Maximillian Robespierre knew:

“The most extravagant idea that can be born in the head of a political thinker is to believe that it suffices for people to enter, weapons in hand, among a foreign people and expect to have its laws and constitution embraced. No one loves armed missionaries; the first lesson of nature and prudence is to repulse them as enemies.”

Even when we do do a country a real solid – in exactly the right way – it doesn’t help or matter.

In August 1990, Iraq invaded Kuwait.  The United States led a 35-nation coalition that rapidly expelled Iraq.  After which we all got the heck out – and returned Kuwait to the Kuwaitis.

So we’re Kuwait’s eternal heroes, right?  They love US forever, yes?

Not so much:

“Kuwait votes against the United States 67% of the time (at the United Nations).”

Which brings us to today.

Much of Kuwait’s economy – is business centered on and around raising oil from beneath their feet and selling it.  A lot of help in so doing – comes from US.

One such US company – is KGL Investment Company:

“A Kuwaiti investment fund is calling on the Kuwaiti government to clarify its position over close to $500 million of the fund’s assets which are currently stuck in a Dubai bank, after growing concerned about possible efforts by some Kuwaiti individuals to seize the money.”

Kuwait and Dubai have frozen KGLs half a billion dollars – and then some:

“This is just one part of a wider dispute which includes allegations of corruption and embezzlement involving Russian businesswoman Marsha Lazareva, managing director of KGL Investment (KGLI), which sponsored The Port Fund.

“Lazareva was handed a 10-year jail sentence by a court in Kuwait in May. Her lawyers, Washington D.C.-based law firm Crowell & Moring, say she was subjected to a ‘show trial’ and have started proceedings to set up an international tribunal to examine the case.”

So Lazareva and her four-year-old son were held captive in Kuwait until she was released on bail.  On a ridiculous conviction and facing ridiculous fines.

A great and growing group of people are calling for action – including from the Donald Trump Administration:

Lawmakers From Both Parties Request Action from Treasury to Help Businesswoman Stuck in Kuwait

Both inside and outside government – and the US:

“Among those advocating for Lazareva’s release are Neil Bush, the son of the late President George H.W. Bush, Louis Freeh, former director of the FBI, Jim Nicholson, former United States Secretary of Veterans Affairs, former U.S. Representative Ed Royce, Sergey Lavrov, foreign minister of Russia, British Barrister Lord Carlile and members of UK Parliament….”

Why all this Kuwaiti nonsense?  Besides innate ungratefulness?  Kuwaiti cronyism:

“Behold Agility Logistics.  A Kuwaiti company – with close ties to the Kuwaiti government.

“Agility’s CEO, Essa Anwar Al-Saleh – is a former Chairman of Kuwait’s Gulf Bank.  So he exercised significant power over Kuwaiti commerce and finance.

“And it appears Al-Saleh still does.  Agility is a KGL competitor – with the home nation advantage.  The Kuwaiti government appears to be (holding the Lazarevas and) freezing KGLs coin – to benefit Agility.”

In fact

“Agility, a Kuwait-based multi-billion dollar logistics company spawned by the U.S. invasion of Iraq….”

…we made Agility’s very existence possible.

Yet again – no appreciation.  Only antagonism.

Oh: Agility has a long history of screwing its clients.  Including US:

“The Defense Logistics Agency suspended Agility, which specializes in logistics, in November 2009 after its parent company Public Warehousing Company K.S.C. was indicted in Atlanta on $6 billion in fraud charges stemming from food services contracts for troops in Iraq, Kuwait and the Middle East region.”

Defense Contractor Resolves Criminal, Civil and Administrative Liability Related to Food Contracts:

“Agility Pays $95 Million and Gives Up $249 Million in Claims to (the US) DOD.”

So you have an ungrateful Kuwait – screwing a US company and its executive and thumbing its nose at US.

So as to benefit its crony, corrupt in-house company – that has already, repeatedly screwed US.

This cacophony of nonsense has dragged on, and on, and….

It is high time we bring it to an end.

Ingrate Kuwait has already held the advantage for far too long.

Please note: This piece has been updated.  We wrote Mrs. Lazareva and her son are being held captive in Kuwait.  They were – until she was finally released on bail.  Please forgive the error.

A Guide for Providing Donations for Bahamian Hurricane Relief

It is not hyperbolic to say the island nation was ravaged by hurricane Dorian, and here is how to help.

For much of the past week we here in Florida have been under an anxious cloud with a Category-5 Hurricane Dorian literally stationed just off of our coast. As we have been spared there has been a sinking feeling in watching the storm reports as the second-strongest hurricane to ever appear in the Atlantic made a direct hit on the Bahamas and practically stopped directly atop the small island nation.

This has been a storm that has stymied hurricane experts almost from its formation and it has behaved in ways few predicted. Case in point, on August 26 prognostications had this storm dissipating through the western Caribbean and reaching Florida as a tropical depression that would make for a wet weekend. Within two days Dorian was a Cat-3 hurricane with winds over 100 miles greater than predicted.

It is with amazement that most of this state has been spared from the effects of Dorian, but on the opposite side of the spectrum the Bahamas have possibly become transformed. Neighborhoods have been rendered, many are still missing, and recovery is going to be a lengthy process as the main islands absorbed 185 miles per hour winds for a lengthy stay of a slow-moving tempest. The heartbreak on the islands can be felt already.

There was no buffer for this nation as it was hit, with the country having merely a ten-foot elevation above sea level. The fact that Nassau is situated only 70 miles from my coastline and we experienced barely noticeable weather, while this beast savaged Grand Bahama and the northern islands, is a palpable paradox for us here. These are people in need of serious assistance and there are a number of relief charities that will be working directly on those islands. Please consider helping any of these verified groups to which you can donate in the hope of lending recovery.

For An Ally, The London Mayor Sure Sounds Like An Enemy

We may have become so accustomed to the outright disdain for President Donald Trump in this country — helped in no small part by Hollywood leftist activists — that the vitriol sounds commonplace even when it should stun us to our collective core.

Case in point, the recent comments by Sadiq Khan, London’s current Mayor and — apparently — one of Donald Trump’s biggest enemies.

[Sadiq] Khan attended a ceremony in Poland this weekend to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Nazi invasion which began the second world war.

Trump skipped the ceremonies, ostensibly to focus on managing storm preparations. The president received briefings from federal agencies through the Labor Day weekend but he also spent time at one of his golf courses in Virginia.

“He’s clearly busy dealing with a hurricane out on the golf course,” Khan told Politico.

Khan also criticized Trump in a column for the Observer this weekend, calling him “the global poster-boy for white nationalism”.

While media outlets are predictably headlining with “Donald Trump has once again attacked Sadiq Khan” — and the president has trashed Khan in the past — the fact that the Mayor of the capital city of a country the U.S. has long considered one of her closest allies is referring to the president as a racist is nothing short of remarkable. And troubling.

For what it’s worth, Vice President Mike Pence was at the ceremony in Poland in Trump’s stead and it must have never occurred to Khan that sometimes discretion is the better part of valor in circumstances where even allies might use your presence to undermine public opinion about you.

Which actually sounds more like something an enemy might do.

Millionaire Said to Have Vital Information about Jeffrey Epstein Suddenly Disappears

The case surrounding pedophile Jeffrey Epstein is only getting stranger as now as a millionaire said to have vital information to the investigation has suddenly vanished “without a trace.”

The millionaire in question is a model agency boss is 72-year-old Jean-Luc Brunel whose agency had girls that were seen Epstein’s mansion, according to the Daily Mail:

Brunel – who founded New York’s MC2 – denies any involvement with crimes committed by Epstein.

A Paris legal source told the Daily Mirror: ‘He is a ghost who has disappeared without trace.’

It comes after former model Svetlana Pozhidaeva, who was signed to MC2, was pictured at convicted paedophile Epstein’s mansion in New York back in 2016.

One of Epstein’s underage girls, Virginia Roberts, claims that she also slept with Brunel “many times” when she was between the ages of 16 and 19.

Brunel is being searched for by authorities in Paris, whom they believe is where Epstein found a lot of his girls. Brunel lived in Paris, and with his girls appearing in Epstein’s mansions, it’s only natural to want to ask some questions. However, Brunel has vanished like a ghost and authorities cannot find him as the Daily Mail reports that Brunel has no address, internet accounts or social media.

The last confirmed location Brunel was in was Brazil before the start of the summer, where he was searching for new talent.

A list of odd things continues to build surrounding Epstein. Be it the strange circumstances of his suicide, the cameras around his cell cutting out, and his cellmate being threatened into silence, conspiracies have been erupting into the public left and right, but this time, for a good reason.

Epstein was a well-connected billionaire who ran an underage sex ring that was allegedly trafficked by the rich and powerful. A lot could be lost by the information Brunel has.

Naturally, this was followed by all manner of idiots claiming that President Trump had divulged highly top secret reconnaissance capabilities without so much as a mother-may-I directed to the acting Director of National Intelligence. And (gasp) it also showed that we had satellites or drones over the launch space shortly after the explosion thereby signalling what we were behind it. (The same nimrods failed to mention that two commercial companies also had satellites over the launch site at about the same time.) In reality, the wording of the tweet suggests that someone familiar with the launch site terminology wrote it. This implies it is an intelligence operation. Secondly, without access top the actual image one doesn’t even know whether it is an actual image from a reconnaissance platform or simply a photoshop manipulation based on the existing commerical images. But such is the life of people who are in the late stages of TDS.

Now the spokesman for Iran’s prime minister has responded in a most petulant and butthurt type of way.

Iran acknowledged for the first time on Monday that a rocket at its Imam Khomeini Space Center exploded after satellite photos showed the blast last week, with an official saying a technical malfunction during a test caused the explosion.

The explosion marked the third failure involving a rocket at the Iranian center, which has raised suspicions of sabotage in Iran’s space program.

However, Rabiei dismissed that, saying that “this has been a technical matter and a technical error. Our experts unanimously say so.”

“The explosion happened at the launchpad and no satellite had yet been transferred to the launchpad,” Rabiei said. “It happened at a test site, not at the launch site.”

As there was no reason to mention the destruction of the satellite, the obvious inference is that the satellite was destroyed. And you’d always cart a satellite out to a test site, and not to a launch site, because the don’t teach logic in Iranian schools.

Rabiei criticized Trump’s decision to tweet about the rocket explosion.

“We don’t understand why the U.S president tweets and posts satellite pictures with excitement. This is not understandable,” he said. “Maybe this is because lack of Iran-related subjects that they raise such issues.”

Bottom line. Iran is embarrassed that their attempt to master 1950s technology has failed. They didn’t realize the world knew. They really didn’t like it when Trump focused international attention on the failure and, given Iran’s craptacular history with maintaining anything resembling security of their most classified facilities (see Stuxnet and Mossad’s making off with their nuclear research archive), hinting that the explosion was not entirely accidental. This comes on the heels of Iran’s nuisance campaign of harassing merchant vessels in the Straits of Hormuz being shut down once the US and Great Britain decided to pay attention to it and their Hezbollah proxy getting humiliated several times a week by the Israelis. On the whole you’re seeing nothing that indicates that Iran is not a regional power of the cusp of a catastrophic collapse of its ability to project either power or influence. And that makes it exceedingly dangerous for the time being.
