Pass the popcorn: House Dems to vote on Israel, BDS today

Westlake Legal Group omar-tlaib Pass the popcorn: House Dems to vote on Israel, BDS today The Blog rashida tlaib Nancy Pelosi John Lewis Israel Ilhan Omar House Democrats bds

If we had known that a Democratic majority in the House would be this entertaining — and revealing — we might have been inclined to support it last November. Today’s moment of enlightenment will come in a vote today on whether to support one of America’s closest allies, or whether to cheer on a boycott aimed at their destruction. Decisions, decisions …

The House is slated to pass legislation Tuesday to oppose the global boycott movement against Israel, a vote that will put a spotlight both on Democratic divisions and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.).

Most Democrats in the House oppose the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement, an international campaign meant to exert pressure on Israel over treatment of the Palestinians. Critics say it would isolate and harm Israel, which retains strong support in Congress from both parties.

But the BDS movement has support in Congress from some progressives, including Omar, who has offered her own resolution affirming the rights of Americans to participate in boycotts meant to promote human rights either in the United States or other countries.

Omar has cited boycotts of Nazi Germany and Apartheid-era South Africa in making the case for her resolution — comparisons that have drawn the ire of Israel’s supporters.

Even that might be explainable if it happened in a vacuum. Unfortunately, all of the other anti-Semitic comments made by Omar in her brief time in office gives the game away on BDS and her true intent in supporting it. Nancy Pelosi has twice had to act to clean up after Omar, although in the second instance she watered down a resolution rebuking Omar’s anti-Semitism into a gutless “gee, ain’t hate bad?” statement.

At least Pelosi’s smart enough to get this over quickly:

Democratic leaders, conscious of the intraparty debate, are bringing the anti-BDS resolution to the floor under a fast-track process, known as suspension of the rules, that requires a two-thirds supermajority for passage with only 40 minutes of debate — a briefer period that will cut down on the theatrics of a divided party.

It might “cut down” the popcorn-passing period, but it won’t eliminate it. Republicans have made it clear that they won’t play games with Israel, with 90% of their caucus signed on as co-sponsors. Democrats only have two-thirds of their caucus co-sponsoring the bill, according to The Hill, and getting outpaced by the GOP on their own bill isn’t a very good look for Pelosi. Where are the other Democrats? Are they lining up behind Omar and Rashida Tlaib in supporting the BDS endorsement? Or behind John Lewis in providing tacit political cover to its anti-Israel aims?

That sets up a big, big fight between the hard-Left progressives, who have co-opted the Palestinian cause as a knee-jerk attack on traditional US consensus on foreign policy, and the rest of the Democratic Party. It’s hardly the only fault line, but it might turn out to be one of the most active of them. It certainly has the potential to be among the most embarrassing of them, especially with the progressives being led by House members with a propensity of making anti-Semitic comments in public. At some point, the Democrats’ small but loyal Jewish voting bloc will have to wonder just what it is they’re supporting.

And Republicans can keep passing the popcorn.

You’re no doubt aware of the recent series of strife-riddled occurrences across words and the webisphere between Nancy Pelosi, Donald Trump and the “Fresh Face Caucus” consisting of Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, Rashida Tlaib, and that fascinating fighter of farts, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

To catch up on the mess, please see herehere, here, here, and here.

So what do the dynamic duo of Diamond and Silk think about the whole situation?

The two recently spoke to The Daily Caller about the Quad Squad.

Along the way, the ladies also addressed rapper Cardi B’s endorsement of Uncle Bernie Sanders.

As for the Trump dustup, D&S touted the “love it or leave it” philosophy:

“We’ve said it for almost three years: If you don’t like this country, then you pack…and you can go back — to your own country or to another country. This is the United States of America.”

Diamond got rough:

“I call them the Hate and the Fraud Squad. Because they spew hate, and I think they’re all fraudsters. Because here’s the deal: They are supposed to represent the American people, not illegal aliens. They are supposed to be lawmakers, not law breakers. And so, when we see the “squad” wanting to break the law, wanting to be anti-America, anti-American, we have a problem with that. Now, Nancy Pelosi should’ve set these women straight from day one. But she didn’t. She went along with their shenanigans, and now looks what’s happening.”

Silk was smooth:

“You know, when you look back at our president’s tweet, he didn’t mention no race, no color, no country. He did not mention the amount. So how is it that four congresswomen — out of all of the congresswomen there on the hill — know who the President was talking about? What they did is they exposed theirselves. … And it’s a shame for the media, the way they’re trying to spin this, as if it’s so racial, it’s such a racial thing…”

I’ll let them take it from here. Enjoy the wit, wisdom, and wonder of two of Donald Trump’s favorites political pundits as they lay it out as only they can.

-Alex

House Dems wonder: Just who’s in charge in AOC’s office, anyway?

Westlake Legal Group chakrabarti-aoc House Dems wonder: Just who’s in charge in AOC’s office, anyway? The Blog Saikat Chakrabarti Nancy Pelosi Identity politics House Democrats Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Looks like the Battle of Wokeback Mountain is still simmering in Nancy Pelosi’s caucus. In unrelated news, popcorn futures ticked up this morning:

But for all of those offenses, Chakrabarti’s attacks on Pelosi and the Blue Dogs are something else entirely, and they add up to the other thing a Capitol Hill aide should never do — damage the boss’s reputation and detract from his or her goals.

It’s hard to believe that AOC wanted the last two weeks to go as they have — with open warfare with the speaker and an intraparty fight so explosive that President Donald Trump jumped right into the middle of it by telling her and the rest of “the squad” to “go back where they came from.” Had she wanted to do that or go up against the Blue Dogs, she could have done it herself.

But the congresswoman also didn’t stop Chakrabarti from continuing his Twitter battles with her fellow Democrats or promoting primary challenges to them. That, along with frequent press mentions that it was Chakrabarti who recruited AOC and not the other way around, has led her colleagues to ask openly who is calling the shots in her office.

Thank goodness that Citizen Jane Politics founder Patricia Murphy raised this concern at Roll Call. Imagine the outrage if Republicans or a male conservative columnist (ahem) had alleged that Saikat Chakrabarti controlled rising progressive star Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Instead, this concern comes from Ocasio-Cortez’ own House Democratic colleagues, Murphy writes, who see Chakrabarti as out of control and AOC unable or unwilling to do anything about it.

The fact that House Democrats are still making this an issue is a message to Ocasio-Cortez: Get rid of Chakrabarti. It’s tough to imagine a more insulting way of framing it for a young feminist to suggest that she’s nothing more than a puppet. It’s a dare designed to elicit a response, which in this case is to fire Chakrabarti and to get back to business rather than civil war.

What if Chakrabarti’s not the problem? Far be it from this (honorary!) member of Teh Patriarchy to suggest this, but this may be all Ocasio-Cortez’ plan. She wouldn’t be the first burn-it-all-down extremist elected to Congress, although she might be the first prominent female in that role. No one’s accusing Justin Amash of being controlled by his chief of staff, for instance, and no one accused Ron Paul of it either. Chakrabarti might well be following Ocasio-Cortez’ orders, not the other way around, which is why he’s still her CoS.

If that’s the case, Pelosi has other options. AOC just drew a Republican challenger, but in a D+29 district, the GOP could run the reincarnation of Abraham Lincoln and lose by 15 points. The Republican nominee only got 14% of the vote in 2016, so even doubling that would give Ocasio-Cortez more than 60% of the overall vote. No, the only way to show AOC the door is to have a Democrat primary her next year. They’ve been talking about it almost since the moment Ocasio-Cortez arrived, and the latest warfare almost certainly has Pelosi and her team working overtime to make it happen.

Murphy has another suggestion to solve the alleged Svengali Staffer Syndrome:

The easiest and most immediate solution to the problem is to get Chakrabarti and all Capitol Hill staffers off Twitter. The social media platform has taken staffers from being seen-but-not-heard to being heard-but-not-seen. Not only does that development serve no one but the staffers, Twitter by its very nature incentivizes outrageous comments and the people who make them. A recent Pew study also found that the most active users are far more wealthy, more white and more liberal than the country itself. It’s no place for the rational political dialogue that legislating requires.

Uh, sure. How would House Democrats enforce that? At the moment, they’re fighting amongst themselves to keep members from calling other Dems racist. Good luck passing a “No Twitter” rule, Madame Speaker. That’s not to say Murphy’s wrong about social media being part of the problem, but if House Democrats had that much internal discipline, this issue wouldn’t have come up in the first place.

Besides, this fight has been all too predictable and a long time coming. Radical progressives want to hollow out the Democratic Party and have Democratic socialists take it over completely. They’re using identity politics against the Democratic establishment in the same way that the Democratic establishment used identity politics against Republicans — as a club to chase them out of the public square by any means necessary. A Twitter ban won’t stop Democrats from reaping what they have sown.

Now … where did my popcorn go?

Anti-Semite Ilhan Omar Compares Jewish Israel to Nazi Germany

But do tell me more about the grave dangers of some randos chanting stupid crap at a Trump rally.

Ilhan Omar, apparently emboldened by recent events, decided it’d be a good idea to drop a resolution supporting the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanction movement this week. That’d be the same BDS movement that even Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer directly called anti-Semitic just weeks ago.

While that would have been bad enough, she also decided it wasn’t insensitive and racist at all to use the resolution to compare Jewish Israel to (checks notes)…Nazi Germany.

This via the Washington Examiner.

Omar introduced a resolution Tuesday in support of groups wanting to boycott Israel while comparing them to the American Jews who boycotted Nazi Germany.

“Americans of conscience have a proud history of participating in boycotts to advocate for human rights abroad, including … boycotting Nazi Germany from March 1933 to October 1941 in response to the dehumanization of the Jewish people in the lead-up to the Holocaust,” the Minnesota Democrat’s resolution stated.

In the hearing, Omar also compared the boycotts of Israel to the Boston Tea Party.

Yes, that’s Omar directly comparing opposing Nazi Germany to opposing Jewish Israel, because they are pretty much the same thing right?

I mean, is there really a difference between a genocidial regime built on delusions of world domination and a small, democratic Jewish state that actually provides medical care for its adversaries and does everything it can to avoid collateral damage, even in the face of constant violent aggression? And it’s not like Nazi Germany sought to exterminate the Jews, necessitating the need for Israel.

Keep in mind, this is the same Ilhan Omar who called sanctions against a brutal dictator in Venezuela “bullying” and would lift sanctions on Iran tomorrow if she could. Yet, for some reason, her tactics toward Israel are different. Now, what could possibly be the distinction present driving her selectiveness in who she wants to boycott, divest, and sanction? Maybe some valiant media outlet should ask her.

This is blatant antisemitism on display. But no one outside of the right will care. The Democrats will excuse it, the media won’t even cover it, and the double standards will continue. If you care about people chanting at a Trump rally, you should care about Omar’s antisemitism.

If you don’t, you are being disingenuous and don’t deserve to have your outrage heard.

We might have all thought that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was the self-appointed leader of the so-called “Squad“, but her BFF Rep. Rashida Tlaib (MI) let everyone know in an interview on Tuesday who was the real boss.

Ocasio-Cortez, Tlaib, and Reps. Ilhan Omar (MN) and Ayanna Pressley (MA) were interviewed by CBS This Morning‘s Gayle King on the recent controversy surrounding Trump’s Sunday tweets, as well as the public infighting between the Queenie Quartet, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and the Congressional Black Caucus.

King turned to Ocasio-Cortez in particular to find out if a direct meeting was in the works between her camp and Pelosi’s. But before she could finish answering, Tlaib interrupted and put the onus on Pelosi to be the one calling for the meetings. And because she’s her own worst enemy, Tlaib pulled an AOC and played the WOC/danger card on the House Speaker:

Ocasio-Cortez said she agrees and then Tlaib interjected in an attempt to shield Ocasio-Cortez, saying they are “new members of congress.” She then said she was “very protective” of Ocasio-Cortez, prompting King to fire back.

“With all due respect, she doesn’t need protection,” King said.

“She’s the new member, not the speaker,” Tlaib said, referring to Ocasio-Cortez. “She has every right to sit down with her in any moment, anytime, with any of us. She is speaker of the House, she can ask for a meeting to sit down with us for clarification.”

Tlaib went on to offer some advice to Pelosi about being aware of the repercussions of singling out women of color.

“The fact of the knowledge is, and I’ve done racial justice work in our country for a long time, acknowledge the fact that we are women of color, so when you do single us out, be aware of that, and what you’re doing,” Tlaib continued. “Especially because some of us are getting death threats. Because some of us are being singled out in many ways because of our backgrounds, because of our experiences and so forth.”

Watch video of Tlaib rushing to steal the attention from AOC below:

First of all, King is right. Ocasio-Cortez doesn’t need “protection” from journalists during an interview. If these women are truly the Fierce Resistance WarriorsWestlake Legal Group 2122 Video: Rashida Tlaib Takes Command of “The Squad” From AOC, Plays WOC Card on Pelosi – Again washington D.C. Uncategorized The Squad rashida tlaib Politics North Carolina New York Nancy Pelosi Michigan Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story Featured Post democrats Culture Congress AOC Allow Media Exception Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez they paint themselves out to be, they don’t need interference from fellow Squad members when answering questions.

Secondly, isn’t it just like the petulant child Tlaib is to sulk and say, in a nutshell, if Pelosi has issues with them they she should be the one calling the meeting? What utter nonsense. If Tlaib and company have an issue with Pelosi’s mild public criticisms of them, then they need to put on their big girl panties and knock on her door themselves.

Isn’t that what a real Resistance Warrior would do?

More troubling than Tlaib’s childishness are her dangerous double standards on who should and should not be allowed to speak out when they have issues with other Democrats:

The piece I referenced on Tlaib’s comments on Chelsea Clinton was from back in March. When Chelsea Clinton was verbally ambushed in New York City during a service for the New Zealand mosque victims, Tlaib had not one ounce of sympathy for her. In fact, Tlaib said that Clinton – who had called out Omar’s anti-Semitism – should be “very, very careful” in what she says, but that Omar should be able to speak freely.

It was a very disturbing segment. Watch it here.

I’ve long believed that Tlaib is the most dangerous of this bunch, and the shutuppery games she continues to play only validate that view, in my opinion.

On the flip side, Tlaib and her clueless cohorts have managed to help turn the spotlight back on to their feud with Pelosi. Well done, ladies. Keep talking.

Pelosi’s headache comes to life: Green files articles of impeachment

Westlake Legal Group pelosi-disgust Pelosi’s headache comes to life: Green files articles of impeachment The Blog Nancy Pelosi impeachment donald trump Al Green

One way or another, the House of Representatives will finally have to act in some manner on impeaching Donald Trump. After threatening to do so ever since Trump took office, Rep. Al Green (D-TX) filed articles of impeachment last night, citing Trump’s tweets about four frosh Democrats as a “high misdemeanor.”  This opens up the very can of worms that Nancy Pelosi had worked hard for months to keep closed, in hopes of avoiding an electoral nightmare that would result in a hyperpoliticized attempt to reverse the 2016 election.

It’s not as if Pelosi can ignore it, either. House rules require a response to a privileged motion, which Green knows full well:

Green’s move will force House Democrats to deal with the issue in the near term because of the privileged nature of the resolution. Under House rules, Democratic leadership can decide to try to table the impeachment articles, effectively killing them for now and risk criticism from the party’s liberal base; refer them to the House Judiciary Committee for possible consideration; or allow the vote to proceed.

If leaders do nothing, Green can force a vote on the impeachment articles in two legislative days.

None of the options look very good from Pelosi’s perspective. Moderates are already balking at Green’s move, while even some progressives question the timing. Every single option in front of Pelosi now will split her caucus, and with it any hopes of ending a power struggle within it:

The matter is likely to divide the caucus, which has grappled for months with the question of what to do about Trump. Even impeachment proponents seemed divided about whether it is wise to force the issue now. House Homeland Security Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) said he would support an immediate move to impeach the president, even voting against Democratic leaders should they try to refer the matter to committee to sideline the debate. …

Certain to be wary are moderates and lawmakers from districts that Trump won in 2016 who have long feared blowback for such a vote. Rep. Stephanie Murphy (Fla.), who leads the conservative Blue Dog Democrats, said, “I don’t think that we have completed the process or the investigations that we need to, to take that step at this time.” Rep. Jeff Van Drew (D-N.J.), a freshman from a swing district, said he would vote against the resolution.

“I don’t think we’re there yet. I don’t think it’s healthy,” he said of Green’s effort.

No kidding. If the House Democratic caucus can’t even agree on impeachment, then what’s the point? It’s not as if the Senate, with its Republican majority, is champing at the bit to hold a trial for removal. If impeachment comes up for a floor vote and fails, not only will that infuriate voters in districts that Democrats just won by promising to be a governing party, it will infuriate progressive activists and pour gasoline on an already-raging civil war for control of the party.

Pelosi must have hoped that last night’s rebuke of Trump by House resolution would suffice and keep impeachment fever tamped down for a little longer. Instead, her own missteps might have made matters worse. As Allahpundit wrote last night, Pelosi tripped up over the House rules and ended up with egg on her face when the parliamentarian ruled her out of order and momentarily suspended her speaking privileges. She then asked two members of the Congressional Black Caucus to serve in the chair to announce that the House couldn’t accuse Trump of racism, a move that spectacularly backfired when both refused. Pelosi managed to bull her way forward through brute majority votes to ignore the rules, but she made herself look foolish and incompetent along the way.

So what’s next? Any vote to move impeachment forward will likely be the death knell of House Democrats in Trump-friendly districts. Any move to stop it will split off progressive activists and lose Democrats much of their political energy and fundraising. A referral to Jerrold Nadler’s House Judiciary Committee would get it off the front pages for about a New York minute, as Nadler would grandstand endlessly on it.

The least-worst option from this smorgasbord of disaster for Pelosi might be to force an up-or-down vote on impeachment now. Rip the Band-Aid off quickly, let the bill die, and hope that there’s enough time ahead of the election to have this fade into distant memory. Trump would claim vindication from it, but that’s got a shelf life too. The closer this drags on to the election, the worse it gets for Pelosi.

The evening the US House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning tweets, yes, I said it, condemning tweets by President Trump. After some drama in which the House had to override the House Parliamentarian to let Nancy Pelosi introduce the resolution (see Bonchie’s BREAKING: Chaos Breaks Out On House Floor, Pelosi Shut Down for the Day) and a string of Whereases invoking people and principles the Democrats have long since denigrated and jettisoned (they referenced the notorious slave owner Thomas Jefferson) they come to this:

3) strongly condemns President Donald Trump’s racist comments that have legitimized and increased fear and hatred of new Americans and people of color by saying that our fellow Americans who are immigrants, and those who may look to the President like immigrants, should “go back” to other countries, by referring to immigrants and asylum seekers as “invaders,” and by saying that Members of Congress who are immigrants (or those of our colleagues who are wrongly assumed to be immigrants) do not belong in Congress or in the United States of America.

Four of the weakest and most craven Republicans you’ll ever hear of voted with the Democrats on what was otherwise a clean party-line vote: Reps. Fred Upton (MI), Susan Brooks (IN), Will Hurd (TX) and Brian Fitzpatrick (PA).

To what end?

The resolution is non-binding. The 100% partisan nature of the resolution makes it meaningless. No one, other than people who already hate Trump, is taking this bullsh** seriously. The clown show on the House floor as the House squabbled over its own rules made crystal clear just how un-serious the Democrats are.

When the dust settles from this, I don’t President Trump is going to be the one with the sucking chest wound and the “how did this happen” expression on his face.

There’s a particular tiny herd animal about which, if two of the cute little critters aren’t not getting along upon first meeting, standing them in just a tiny bit of harmless water — the conventional wisdom goes — will cause them unite. When faced with adversity, the foes will bond in order to form a stronger defense.

The same can happen, it may be assumed, with Democrats.

Recently, we’ve seen striking infighting across the aisle — Mama Bird Nancy stuck it to Baby Bird AOC, and a bunch of feathers flew.

During the melee, as RedState’s Bonchie put it, The Donald “[stripped] naked and [ran] onto the battlefield.”

Rather than let them continue to destroy themselves, Trump interrupted with his own pecking, turning their attention — and the audience’s — toward him.

A number of Republicans gave him an A for…well, just pick your A word for “not good.”

But could it have been smarter than perceived?

Some think so — perhaps he was making a genius move to make the Dems define themselves by the most extreme among them:

Interesting idea.

Consider Rush Limbaugh’s Monday statements on the matter:

“I think Trump sees this rift developing between Pelosi and the Democrat leadership and these new communists on the left led by Cortez, and I think he wants them back together again. I think Trump wants the Democrat Party to become known as the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Green New Deal socialism party. I think he wants to hang that label around all of them, and for that to happen they have to be unified.”

So the President galvanizes toward the goofy a party intent upon taking him out in 2020. And at a time, no less, when a poll indicates that swing voters are down on the socialist squad of new left-wing representatives.

It’s an eyebrow-raiser.

Is it accurate?

BREAKING: Chaos Breaks Out On House Floor, Pelosi Shut Down for the Day

This is all fluid, but there’s apparently full blown chaos breaking out on the House floor.

The House was in the middle of debating a resolution to condemn Trump’s tweet storm from this past weekend. Nancy Pelosi pointedly said Trump’s comments were racist on the House floor. Not only is that highly debatable, it turns out to be a violation of House rules.

This led to a 30 minute debate between Democratic staffers and the House Parliamentarian and that led to Steny Hoyer ruling Peloi’s comments out of order.

It should be pointed out that Pelosi and Democrats could never muster up the courage to call Ilhan Omar’s plainly anti-Semitic comments what they were, instead choosing to whitewash a generalized resolution that Omar actually got to claim as a victory against “Islamophobia.”

In the end, I’m sure the House Democrats will get their pointless resolution, but Pelosi’s antics here are going to open the flood games for other Congressional members to break the rules.

It should also be pointed out that House Republicans really played their A game here by objecting at the right time and running circles around Pelosi. Meanwhile, a debate over Trump has now turned into an embarrassment on the floor for Democrats. “The Squad” strikes again.

After Pelosi-AOC Fight, Liberal NY Times Columnist Suddenly Finds Race Card Tactic Offensive

On Friday, I wrote about how the Congressional Black Caucus played the “let me show you how it’s done” game with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) after she insinuated in a Wednesday interview that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (CA) was singling out the Queenie Quartet because they were “women of color.”

As it turns out, all this race card playing back and forth has really upset New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd, whose interview with Pelosi a few weeks ago was what set off the AOC firestorm.

We’ll get to that in a minute, but first, a brief recap of what went down Friday – via The Hill:

Congressional Black Caucus members are furious at Justice Democrats, accusing the outside progressive group aligned with firebrand Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) of trying to oust lawmakers of color, specifically African American lawmakers.

[…]

“It just seems strange that the social Democrats seem to be targeting members of the Congressional Black Caucus, individuals who have stood and fought to make sure that African Americans are included and part of this process,” Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.), a senior CBC member, told The Hill.

“I don’t know what that agenda is, but if they want to come after members of the Black Caucus, it’s two ways,” warned Meeks, the Queens Democratic Party boss who clashed with Justice Democrats in a local district attorney race last month.

Meeks’s “it’s two ways” comments were in reference to Ocasio-Cortez playing the race card against Pelosi just two days prior:

“When these comments first started, I kind of thought that she was keeping the progressive flank at more of an arm’s distance in order to protect more moderate members, which I understood,” Ocasio-Cortez told the Post.

“But the persistent singling out … it got to a point where it was just outright disrespectful … the explicit singling out of newly elected women of color,” she added.

In response to the escalation in the public infighting between the two camps, Dowd wrote a column Saturday in which she noted she had suddenly discovered how harmful leveling false accusations of racism against someone is:

Pelosi told me, after the A.O.C. Squad voted against the House’s version of the border bill and trashed the moderates — the very people who provided the Democrats the majority — that the Squad was four people with four votes. She was talking about a legislative reality. If it was a knock, it was for abandoning the party.

That did not merit A.O.C.’s outrageous accusation that Pelosi was targeting “newly elected women of color.” She slimed the speaker, who has spent her life fighting for the downtrodden and who was instrumental in getting the first African-American president elected and passing his agenda against all odds, as a sexist and a racist.

A.O.C. should consider the possibility that people who disagree with her do not disagree with her color.

Gee, ya think?

Dowd continued, condemning another tactic frequently used by the Queenie Quartet: The “You’re putting my life in danger with your dissent” tactic:

The young lawmaker went further, implying that the speaker was putting the Squad in danger, asking why Pelosi would criticize them, “knowing the amount of death threats” and attention they get. Huh?

[…]

The progressives act as though anyone who dares disagree with them is bad. Not wrong, but bad, guilty of some human failing, some impurity that is a moral evil that justifies their venom.

It would be truly touching if Dowd had come to these conclusions out of a sincere desire to bury the offensive tactic of falsely playing the race/woman/danger card to silence your opposition. She’s not. The only reason why the accusations from AOC towards Pelosi offended Dowd was because they were a distraction from what she feels should unite them both: Defeating Trump:

In the age of Trump, there is no more stupid proposition than that Nancy Pelosi is the problem. If A.O.C. and her Pygmalions and acolytes decide that burning down the House is more important than deposing Trump, they will be left with a racist backward president and the emotional satisfaction of their own purity.

In other words, it’s ok to play the race card as long as your target is a Republican or conservative.

Liberals are nothing if not predictable.
