This might be why President Trump picked William Barr as the 85th Attorney General of The United States. He knows how to crack a joke.

During the Wednesday festivities held outside at the United States Capitol to commemorate National Peace Officers’ Memorial Day, William Barr and Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, had a brief conversation where the A.G. cracked a joke.

According to NBC News

Attorney General William Barr kidded Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday about an impending vote to find him in contempt of Congress.

Barr approached Pelosi, D-Calif., at a National Peace Officers’ Memorial Day event outside the Capitol, shook her hand and said loudly, “Madam Speaker, did you bring your handcuffs?” a bystander told NBC News.

Pelosi — who will be scheduling the contempt vote against Barr before the full House — smiled, and indicated that the House sergeant-at-arms was present at the ceremony should an arrest be necessary, the bystander said. Barr chuckled and walked away.

ZING.

That Barr just chuckled and walked away must have really ticked her off and I’m sure that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer got an earful right after from the Speaker.

Pelosi, of course, just weeks ago accused Barr of lying to Congress and saying that he should be held in contempt. She had no problem going to the podium and gas lighting anything to do with Barr in order to score some really easy, cheap political points. Good for her.

Yet, when you accuse your political foes of damn near everything under the sun and they respond with a light-hearted but pointed joke at your hyperbole, that is one of the things that makes America awesome. The one thing the left really lacks is a sense of humor and I bet the people who were around and heard that comment cracked up. As long as they were not fans of Pelosi or followers of A.O.C. on Instagram.

Let’s see what zinger the A.G. comes up with when the House votes to hold him in contempt. Hopefully, he does not go the handcuff route again or Alyssa Milano might say the PATRIARCHY is trying to stifle all free speech or something else crazy.

After Pushing for Impeachment, Democrats Now Claim Trump Is Laying an “Impeachment Trap”

Westlake Legal Group chuck-schumer-and-nancy-pelosi-responding-to-trum-2-23931-1547040396-4_dblbig-620x412 After Pushing for Impeachment, Democrats Now Claim Trump Is Laying an “Impeachment Trap” Trap Stupid Assertion Politics Nancy Pelosi media bias impeachment Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story donald trump democrats CNN Chuck Schumer adam schiff

Does this make sense to anyone?

Democrats have not been shy about calling for impeachment. It’s been a steady drumbeat for over two years now. Some Congressional Democrats have been calling for it from the moment Trump took office. It’s never mattered that there’s no real case for impeachment. They were expecting Mueller’s report to finally give them the ammunition and it turned out to be a dud.

The media of course played along with this as well, hosting panelist after panelist talking to liberal host after liberal host opining and suggesting impeachment. None of this has been a secret.

Yet, all the sudden we are getting a new shift in the argument.

CNN has a new article out entitled: “Many Democrats Fear Trump Is Laying an Impeachment Trap”

It seems a crazy idea that any president would actually want to be impeached.

But Donald Trump has so subverted Washington logic with his wild, norm-crushing presidency that there is now a serious conversation — at least among Democrats — about whether he views the ultimate constitutional crisis as a weapon in his re-election campaign.
So let me get this straight. Democrats, who haven’t shut up about impeachment for two years, are now blaming the President for trying to orchestrate his own impeachment? Makes sense.
The level of 5D Chess Trump is apparently playing according to Democrats is a sight to behold.
The possibility is shaping the strategies of Democratic leaders as they weigh the political risks of impeachment and their duty to defend principles of American governance.

Many Democrats fear that Trump may be laying an impeachment trap that could consume the House majority, distract them from key issues like health care and alienate persuadable voters.

I’ll note that this CNN article is not labeled as an op-ed. In fact, it’s labeled as hard news “analysis.” Notice the characterization of Democrats as just trying to defend the principles of American governance. No bias there.

The idea that Trump is setting up his own impeachment is asinine. While there might be political aspects that benefit him if it happens, the risks far those.

Adam Schiff is quoted as well.

“Part of our reluctance is we are already a bitterly divided country and an impeachment process will divide us further,” Schiff said Sunday on “This Week” on ABC News. “He certainly seems to be trying and maybe this is his perverse way of dividing us more … He thinks that’s to his political advantage, but it’s certainly not to the country’s advantage.”

Yes, because accusing the President of being a Russian agent for two years wasn’t divisive at all. Continuing to lie that you had evidence of such wasn’t divisive either. Wait, what? No one actually believes this sudden faux concern for unity is genuine.

In actuality, Democrats have had their bluff called and they are scared to push their chips into the middle of the table. They want the political fodder of impeaching Trump while not actually impeaching him. Pelosi keeps flailing around about how Trump should be impeached but she won’t pull the trigger.

Now, faced with their own cowardice, Democrats want to try to spin it around and pretend that it’s actually Donald Trump who’s interested in impeachment. Come on.

What’s even dumber is to see CNN actually accept the idea as legitimate. It’s not surprising, but dumb nonetheless.

Democrats should just put their money where their mouth is. Enough of the silly, partisan investigations. Enough bloating on the networks. Man up and impeach Trump if that’s what they want to do, but they don’t get to pretend that they haven’t been pushing for it his entire Presidency.

Amazingly, CNN Actually Criticized Rashida Tlaib for Her Latest Anti-Semitic Comments

As I pointed out in my other piece, her recounting of history is not only false, but disgustingly immoral. The Jews didn’t not suddenly show up post-1945 and far predate an Arab presence in the region. The Palestinians also did not help the Jews, but rather committed massacres against them before, during, and after the Holocaust. To take the genocide against Jews during WW2 and use it to propagate false Arab propaganda that paints Israeli’s as foreign outsiders was yet another in a long list of questionable comments from Tlaib that clearly show her incredibly anti-Semitic world view.

Amazingly, even CNN decided to tell the truth about this and criticized her today.

Here’s the full 5 minute segment.

In the segment, both guests condemn Tlaib’s insensitive ignorance of history and John King, the normally liberal host, actually corrected Tlaib by pointing out that her Palestinian ancestors collaborated with Hitler.

What you hear from the second guest is a little more telling though, as she opines that Republicans are “seizing” on the controversy to paint Tlaib as the face of the her party and that could be a big problem for the Democrats. In those comments you start to get a sense of why CNN was willing to have this segment when they’ve otherwise been faithful apologists for Tlaib and Ilhan Omar’s numerous anti-Semitic outbursts. The reason is simple.

Their survival instinct is kicking it.

CNN realizes that there are some things that are a bridge too far for the country. Holocaust revisionism is one of those things. In order to protect Democrats, the network is finally starting to push back in hopes of tamping down the outrage and pushing Tlaib and others to the back of the room. The less they become the face of the party, the better CNN feels about Democrat perceptions among the populace.

Their efforts will be in vain though. Tlaib and Omar have garnered near untouchable status among the Democrat base. In fact, Nancy Pelosi came out today and demanded an apology from (checks notes)…Republicans for Tlaib’s comments. Democrats are too far down the rabbit hole and there’s no putting the monster they’ve created back in its box at this point.

Now, with all of this said and giving credit where credit is due, I’m sure tonight’s CNN primetime lineup will be full of Tlaib defenses and bashing of Republicans for daring to question her. Otherwise known as a return to normalcy.

Democrat leadership has chosen to run defense for the party’s blatant antisemitism, and are now demanding the GOP apologize for calling it out.

On Monday, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi both demanded President Donald Trump and the Republicans apologize to Democratic Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib after they attacked her for her comments about the Holocaust during a podcast.

Trump had called Tlaib out for her comments on Twitter, adding that she had a tremendous hatred for the Jewish people, and asked what would happen if he had said anything of this sort.

“If you read Rep. [Tlaib’s] comments, it is clear that President Trump and Congressional Republicans are taking them out of context. They must stop, and they owe her an apology,” tweeted Hoyer.

Pelosi also tweeted out a call for the GOP to apologize to Tlaib, accusing Republicans of taking her comments out of context.

“Republicans’ desperate attempts to smear [Tlaib] & misrepresent her comments are outrageous. President [Donald Trump] & House GOP should apologize to Rep. Tlaib & the American people for their gross misrepresentations.

What was it that Tlaib said exactly? The quote leaves little room for misinterpretation, unless just before this Tlaib uttered the phrase “here’s what a total antisemite would say about the Holocaust.”

Here’s the full quote from the “Skullduggery” podcast where she said it:

There’s always kind of a calming feeling I tell folks when I think of the Holocaust, and the tragedy of the Holocaust, and the fact that it was my ancestors, Palestinians — who lost their land, and some lost their lives their livelihood, their human dignity, their existence in many ways — have been wiped out, and some people’s passports. And just all of it was in the name of trying to create a safe haven for Jews, post-the Holocaust, post-the tragedy and the horrific persecution of Jews across the world at that time. I love the fact that it was my ancestors that provided that, right? In many ways. But they did it in a way that took their human dignity away and it was forced on them.

Tlaib’s claim that Palestinians were killed while trying to provide a safe place for the Jewish people during WW2 is actually a massive lie as pointed out by the Daily Caller.

“Muhammad Amin al-Husayni, the Palestinian Grand Mufti at the time of World War II was friendly with Adolf Hitler and helped spread anti-Semitic propaganda leading up to the Holocaust,” wrote the DC’s Mike Brest.

Tlaib herself attempted to paint the GOP response to her quote in the same way Pelosi and Hoyer did, with accusations of being taken out of context.

It’s hard not to misinterpret Tlaib’s comments here. That the Democrats are running interference on her behalf shows just how much they’ve become comfortable with, so long as it runs contrary to anything Trump says or does.

This includes lying about the Holocaust, an even perpetuated by antisemites that took the lives of some six million innocent Jewish people.

This is the Democratic party trying to save face in the worst way.

Ben Roback: Democrats risk overplaying their response to the Mueller investigation

Westlake Legal Group ben-roback-democrats-risk-overplaying-their-response-to-the-mueller-investigation Ben Roback: Democrats risk overplaying their response to the Mueller investigation Washington USA US Republicans US Democrats Tracking Trump Robert Mueller Nancy Pelosi International donald trump America

Ben Roback is Head of Trade and International Policy at Cicero Group.

The Mueller report has cast a long shadow over much of President Trump’s time in office. The Department of Justice released a 448-page report, split into two volumes – Russian interference during the 2016 campaign; and the results of the Special Counsel’s investigation into allegations of obstruction of justice by Trump. Washington was absorbed almost entirely by the report in the days after it was released, but now that the dust has settled, we are able to take a longer view and consider its lasting implications.

First, there is a chance that the Mueller investigation gets lost in the frenetic news cycle that surrounds Washington politics. A Google Trends search of “Robert Mueller” in the United States shows how interest peaked on March 24th, the day Attorney General William Barr made public a short summary of the Special Counsel’s key findings. The headline on that day was that there was no evidence that President Trump or any of his aides coordinated with the Russian government’s 2016 election interference.

Interest since then has risen and fallen, but intriguingly has tracked closely to a Google Trends analysis for “impeachment”. Whilst this is an unscientific comparison, it helps illustrate how the public links Mueller and the prospects for the President’s impeachment.

The Democratic impact: To impeach or not to impeach?

With a constantly expanding field of Democrats seeking the 2020 presidential nomination, the publication of the Mueller report provides an important litmus test for leadership candidates. We have already seen divergence amongst the frontrunners who are seeking to answer the question: To impeach, or not to impeach? The ongoing problem for Nancy Pelosi, the most powerful Democrat on the Hill, is that her caucus remains torn in both the short and long term between arguments for and against impeachment. “Trump is goading us to impeach him”, Speaker Pelosi has said, arguing that any attempt to do so would solidify the President’s base going into the 2020 campaign. She is right on both counts.

A long list of Democrats making the case for initiating impeachment proceedings argue that past acts by the President are impeachable, as outlined in the Mueller report. Crucially, note the Special Counsel left the door open for Congress to act on obstruction charges, writing that it “can validly regulate the President’s exercise of official duties to prohibit actions motivated by a corrupt intent to obstruct justice.” From the 2020 field, Sen. Elizabeth Warren has called for the impeachment process to begin immediately and Joe Biden has said that Congress has “no alternative” but to pursue impeachment if Trump continues to block its efforts to follow up on the Special Counsel’s investigation. Other Democrats of this view include Senator Kamala Harris and Rep Seth Moulton.

Of the above, Harris has explicitly linked the fallout from the Mueller report with her campaign. Her 2020 website calls for supporters to make a donation if they agree Attorney General Bill Barr should resign. Looking ahead, we should expect more Democratic candidates in this bracket to make impeachment central to their campaign messaging and fundraising strategies.

More cautious Democrats in the 2020 field are of the opinion that any attempt to impeach will inevitably fail in the Senate, where Republicans enjoy a majority, and so attempts to do so in the House would prove the President’s argument that Democrats are being obstructionists. Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who adorns the cover of this months’ Time magazine, remains on the fence, having argued: “I think he’s made it pretty clear that he deserves impeachment” but plans to “leave it to the House and Senate to figure that out.” Bernie Sanders wants to talk about policy issues like healthcare and climate change, not “Trump and Trump, Trump, Trump and Mueller, Mueller, Mueller”.

The GOP impact: Clarity in 2020

“No collusion! No obstruction!” had been Trump’s mantra throughout the Special Counsel’s investigation, and with the publication of the report he feels even more emboldened to absolve himself of any wrongdoing. That appeared somewhat at odds with the Special Counsel’s conclusions, given Mueller had been following the longstanding Department of Justice view that says a sitting president cannot be indicted. And so Mueller wrote that the report does not exonerate the President and he cannot be charged while president. In short, he was let off by the Special Counsel on a technicality.

Trump appears unmoved by the prospects of impeachment. Asked about whether he was worried about it during a White House Easter event, he replied: “Not even a little bit.” Despite that casual attitude, the President has sent 142 tweets containing “Mueller” since December 2017 and 20 tweets containing the word “impeach” since becoming president. Whilst Harris is seeking to fundraise on the basis of calls for impeachment, the 2020 Trump campaign sent out a series of fundraising emails making calls to investigate Democrats. Campaign coffers are filling up on the back of the Special Counsel’s report.

Meanwhile, the fallout from the Mueller report has not hurt the President in the polls, which might begin to explain his confidence. Approval of Trump’s job performance remains relatively high. After jumping from 39 per cent in early March to 45 per cent in the first half of April, his approval rating was 46 per cent in Gallup’s latest poll (April 17th-30th). That 46 per cent approval rating is narrowly worse than Obama’s (49 per cent) but far behind George W. Bush’s (69 per cent) at the same point in their first terms.

Messaging matters

Clarity of messaging matters. The President’s simple statement – “No collusion! No obstruction!” – is equivalent to Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party. Whereas the variety of Democratic views – impeach now / impeach later / don’t impeach let’s talk about healthcare instead – is equivalent to Change UK / The Independent Group / #RemainAlliance.

The Democratic leadership is struggling to maintain a common position on the fallout of the Mueller investigation, whilst the prospects for impeachment will become a critical issue for 2020 candidates. With a staggering 91 per cent approval rating amongst Republican voters and no imminent threat of 2020 primary challenge, the President’s messaging is expected to be carried by Republicans on the Hill and spun effectively by the White House. Democrats risk overplaying their hand and focussing on a Washington issue when the voting public wants to hear about kitchen table politics. For Trump, anything that reinforces a siege mentality will create fertile ground on the 2020 campaign.

Westlake Legal Group nadler-pelosi DoJ fires back: Contempt vote on Barr will result in full executive-privilege claim on Mueller report william barr The Blog Nancy Pelosi Mueller report Jerrold Nadler executive privilege Contempt of Congress

Even for Beltway hardball, this feels like the playoffs. After attempts at negotiations between the House Judiciary Committee and Attorney General William Barr either went nowhere or never really started, the Department of Justice escalated matters last night in a letter to Jerrold Nadler. Unless Nadler withdraws his planned vote on contempt for Barr, the DoJ threatened to ask Donald Trump invoke the broadest possible claim of executive privilege over the Mueller report, effectively blocking the committee for months in a legal tangle on every possible tangent:

The Justice Department told lawmakers that it would recommend President Trump assert executive privilege to the full Mueller report and supporting documents as the House Judiciary Committee planned to move ahead with plans to hold Attorney General William Barr in contempt of Congress, deepening a constitutional clash between the Trump administration and congressional Democrats.

In a letter sent Tuesday night to committee chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., after negotiations between the committee lawyers and Justice Department over accessing redacted portions of the report, Assistant Attorney General Stephen Boyd called the panel’s continued demands for materials “unreasonable” and urged them to delay Wednesday’s scheduled vote to initiate the contempt process.

“If the committee decides to proceed in spite of this request, however, the Attorney General will advise the President to make a protective assertion of executive privilege,” Boyd wrote.

CNN noted the escalation this morning:

Nadler called the response “dangerous,” and insists that the vote on contempt will proceed this morning. Nadler accused Trump of trying to make himself into a monarch rather than an elected official, and said it’s the responsibility of Congress to bring him to heel:

A king? We’ll get back to that in a moment, but Nadler immediately got the backing of his caucus leader:

That’s all fine and good — in terms of emotional response and base-voter excitement. It signals that House Democrats will get enough votes to accept Nadler’s recommendation for contempt on Barr. That will no doubt be very politically satisfying for Democrats still steaming over Barr’s interpretation on obstruction.

And then … what, exactly? At that point, the White House will have the Mueller report and everything associated with it outside of Congress’ reach until the courts have a chance to sort all this out. In point of fact, Trump’s claim of executive privilege have less to do with royal ambitions than the fact that the executive is a separate and co-equal branch of government answerable to voters, and not operating at the pleasure of Congress. Executive privilege is a well-established legal framework that allows for some measure of confidentiality for presidents to work closely with aides. The conversations revealed by Mueller in the report fall clearly within those parameters, and it’s not clear whether Mueller agreed to keep privilege claims in place in exchange for frank discussions with Trump’s staff. Executive privilege claims don’t always succeed and carry some political baggage, but that doesn’t make executive privilege illegitimate.

The DoJ might be overplaying its hand here too, though. Federal courts might well side with Trump on a claim of privilege in his conversations with Don McGahn, but there’s a lot in Mueller’s Volume II that would be difficult to cover as privileged. Barr likely wouldn’t expect to win, but he might expect to outlast Nadler as House Judiciary chair by tying everything up in court for as long as possible. This threat looks like an attempt to attach some significant cost to the contempt charge, which otherwise would basically be a free shot for House Democrats but with little real bite. Just ask Eric Holder how a House contempt charge ruined his life.

After that, the next step might be impeachment against Barr for Democrats, but that’s a dead end too. The Senate has made clear that they’re not going to remove anyone from office on the basis of Nadler’s hysterics, whether that’s Barr or anyone else. Voters will wonder why Democrats want to impeach Barr after he published almost the full Mueller report and why we’re still talking about it at all. In the meantime, House investigations will grind to a halt on all fronts as the White House adopts maximum hostility towards the lower chamber and Democrats fail to accomplish anything else, too.

Nadler and Pelosi had better enjoy the easy W on contempt. It’s not going to be as cheap as it looks now.

Beto hops on the impeachment train, “There has to be consequences”

Westlake Legal Group Beto Beto hops on the impeachment train, “There has to be consequences” The Blog President Trump Nancy Pelosi Mueller report impeachment Beto O'Rourke 2020 Democrat primaries

Beto O’Rourke told a group of reporters in Iowa Sunday that he thinks it’s time to impeach President Trump. While it’s not a surprise that he has this opinion, given that he frequently mentioned it when he ran for the Senate seat against Ted Cruz in the 2016 election cycle, as a presidential candidate he’s been unwilling to jump off that cliff. When the Mueller report came out O’Rourke said that he would leave that decision to the House and to voters.

“I’m going to leave that to those members of the House who as they review those findings can make that decision. … But ultimately at this point I believe that this is going to be decided in November 2020,” he told reporters in New Hampshire.

That was then. This is now. The day before his random declaration, though, Nancy Pelosi told the New York Times that impeachment isn’t a priority. She knows that polling shows little interest in impeachment from American voters. Pelosi wants to persuade independent and middle-of-the-road voters to vote for whoever turns out to be the Democrat nominee. This isn’t her first rodeo when it comes to talking of impeachment. She knows how it worked out for Republicans when Clinton was impeached by the House.

Nonetheless, Beto persisted. When asked about how he squares his opinion with that of Speaker Pelosi’s O’Rourke said, “I mean, we’re two different people. And I really respect the Speaker and what she’s been able to do, but when asked my opinion, I’ve got to give my opinion and not anybody else’s.” I gotta be me. The Mueller report convinced him that Trump must face consequences for his actions. The Mueller report found no collusion and President Trump was not charged in the obstruction of justice allegations, but never mind.

“I think that this Mueller report, absolutely exhaustive, from one of the most trusted people in this country, now gives Americans, regardless of party, the information they need to make the best decision for this country,” O’Rourke told reporters in Iowa during his third trip to the early state as a presidential candidate.

“And for me, that means that we decide that we are a nation of laws. That no man is above the law,” O’Rourke said. “Impeachment proceedings in the House ensure that more of these facts come to light, ensure that the Senate can make a very informed decision about the consequences for this President.”

O’Rourke told the Dallas Morning-News that the truth is coming out. Americans need some accountability, you know.

“We’re finally learning the truth about this president. And yes, there has to be consequences. Yes, there has to be accountability. Yes, I think there’s enough evidence now for the House of Representatives to move forward with impeachment,” he said in an interview with The Dallas Morning News. “This is our country, and this is the one chance that we get to ensure that it remains a democracy and that no man, regardless of his position, is above the law.”

O’Rourke’s record in the House of Representatives shows that when he had the chance to vote on opening impeachment hearings, he chose to vote against it twice.

Both times O’Rourke had a chance to vote for impeachment, he voted against it: on Dec. 6, 2017, when the House voted 364-58 to kill an impeachment resolution from Rep. Al Green, a Houston Democrat, and on Jan. 19, 2018, when the House voted 355-66 to kill another try from Green.

O’Rourke is the worst kind of political opportunist. He was against opening impeachment hearings because he was going to challenge Ted Cruz in Texas. Then, when he got into the race, he was the only candidate running for the Senate who was openly in favor of impeachment. He lost that race so when he entered the 2020 presidential primary, he toned the impeachment rhetoric down again. He wasn’t willing to say yes to impeachment until last weekend. Now he uses the Mueller report as cover for his decision, though his explanation makes no sense. Neither collusion or obstruction of justice charges are moving forward yet Beto claims to be “learning the truth” and there must be consequences. Consequences for what?

This is the result of his fall from favor with Democrat primary voters. The more they get to know him, the more they don’t like what they see. According to Real Clear Politics ranking, Beto is at 4.3%. In comparison, Joe Biden is running away with Democrat approval right now with 39.0%. Bernie Sanders is at 15.5%, Elizabeth Warren is at 7.7% while Kamala Harris is at 7.2%. Mayor Pete is at 6.8%. Those are the one I’d consider in the top tier of candidates, at least right now. Beto has fallen to the top of the second tier. He’s already peaked and it doesn’t look like he is capable of making a comeback.

These are still early days in the Democrat primary season, though it feels like it has been going on forever. The first debate is scheduled in June. Anything can happen.

On Tuesday, Nancy Pelosi made a pledge…

…that was ridiculous.

Referring to the potential outcome of the 2020 election — which is to say, the possibility that Trump may be re-elected — she laid out this number. At New York’s Cornell Club:

“Oh, I think we have to respect the vote of the people.”

“We,” being Democrats.

Then she went a little The Secret on us:

“Winning an election is a decision. You decide you’re going to win, and therefore, you make every decision in favor of winning.”

So they decided to lose last time?

Regardless, Nancy said Democrats are all about respecting the vote:

“We respect the vote of the people. I’m not sure that President Trump would have respected the vote of the [2018] election if we had won by a few seats, by a few votes — he would have challenged the whatever it is.”

Here it comes. Buckle up:

“But that’s not who we are.”

You heard that right, folks: The congressional leader of the Democrats — a group of people who have, for over two years, relentlessly protested the results of a presidential election — just said they are a group of people who don’t protest the results of a presidential election.

Let’s review:

And there’s also this:

And…hmmm…hold on…I’m riflin’ through my walk-in closet of examples…okay, this:

And holy cow, this:

Yeah. That sounds like who they aren’t.

Good one, Nance.

Well, maybe it wasn’t an accident, but it certainly isn’t the kind of thing Nancy Pelosi wants being said.

Democrats are currently at a fever pitch regarding impeaching President Trump. It doesn’t matter that he’s objectively done nothing that measures up to impeachment, they just want it done. While they will claim that it’s a principled pursuit, the truth is much simpler. They want Trump gone for political reasons.

In case anyone was left unconvinced of that, here’s Rep. Al Green letting the cat out of the bag.

You don’t say?

What the video shows is a Democratic House Representative boiling impeachment down to nothing more than a political escape hatch for the opposition party. It’s also clear that even though they know the Senate would never convict, they see impeachment as an albatross to hang around Trump’s neck in the middle of an election season.

It’s a complete abuse of the system but there are no boundaries anymore. Democrats are willing to do absolutely anything to regain power.

Meanwhile, the American people don’t seem so keen on the idea.

If Democrats keep playing these games, it’s going to end up hurting them in 2020. In fact, I don’t think Trump should even fear impeachment at this point. If I were him, I’d come out publicly and call their bluff. Tell them to start the proceedings if they feel like they’ve got the goods, but that they don’t get to play games with side-show investigations while not actually having to guts to impeach.

Pelosi has a tough job ahead as she’s seemingly losing control of her party. Good luck to her trying to keep all the insanity contained.

This is what you call projection right? See the photo above for a reason why.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is apparently really concerned that President Trump won’t voluntarily leave office if he loses the election in 2020.

And her’s CNN’s resident Tater dutifully reporting Pelosi’s worries without a hint of skepticism.

Maybe the Democrats should try winning the 2020 election before expressing concerns like this. Better yet, maybe they should worry about their own party members who are still refusing to concede elections they lost.

Case in point, Stacey Abrams, who lost the GA governorship by over 50,000 votes, is still going around telling people she won. She said this on Friday.

“I’m here to tell you a secret that makes Breitbart and Tucker Carlson go crazy: We won,” Abrams said. “I am not delusional. I know I am not the governor of Georgia – possibly yet.”

Let me help her out here. You see, the fact that you aren’t the governor of Georgia means you did not win.

Imagine if Donald Trump said “we don’t have to concede elections anymore.” Abrams continues to whine about non-existent voter suppression in an election where African Americans turned out in higher percentages than whites. Where is the suppression exactly? We keep hearing the voter rolls were purged. Correct, that was done as part of a decades old law that clears off dead, inactive, and ineligible voters. No one who gets purged is stopped from re-registering and you can even register same day to vote provisionally.

Will Trump whine if he loses the election? Probably. But so what? Democrats, including Hillary Clinton have been doing that for years. Clinton is still out there claiming the election was stolen from her. Meanwhile, the media have no qualms with Democrats who question the electoral system. I was once told that’s dangerous for “our democracy.” It’s all partisan nonsense.

Good news for Nancy though. She hopefully won’t have to test her theory.
