Elizabeth Heng Shuts Down AOC’s Meltdown Over Critical Ad by Reminding Her Facts Don’t Care About Your Feelings

A new ad from California Republican Elizabeth Heng’s “New Faces GOP” PAC that ran Thursday night during the Democratic debate has got people talking.

The ad, which was broadcast on a local ABC affiliate in the Washington, DC area, portrayed Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) as the “face of socialism.” It’s what happened next in the ad that outraged AOC and her online mob:

A dramatic ad targeting Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez aired during the third Democratic debate on Thursday, comparing Ocasio-Cortez’s support for democratic socialism to the brutal Khmer Rouge communist regime in Cambodia.

The ad shows a picture of the young congresswoman bursting into flame to reveal a picture of a pile of skulls. The narrator of the ad, onetime Republican congressional candidate Elizabeth Heng, is the daughter of Cambodian immigrants.

“This is the face of socialism and ignorance,” Heng says in a voiceover as the picture of Ocasio-Cortez burns. “Does Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez know the horror of socialism?”

Watch the full 30 second ad below:

Naturally, AOC’s default response was the play the race card:

The next day, the self-described “democratic socialist” continued to play the race card against Heng – who is not white:

Not only is Heng the daughter of Cambodian immigrants (which kinda disqualifies her from the white supremacy club), but the ad was paid for by Heng’s PAC, not any elected GOP official.

But AOC wasn’t done. Next on her list of people or things to sic her digital lynch mob on was Sinclair Broadcasting:

Ocasio-Cortez’s meltdown was largely responsible for the #BoycottABC hashtag that has trended on Twitter today.

If the leader of the so-called “Squad” thought her Twitter rant was going to get Heng to back down, she was wrong:

Later, Heng made it clear to AOC that facts don’t care about your feelings:

I’m sure it’s not lost on the many people reading this who have kept up with Ocasio-Cortez’s frequent unhinged rants against her critics that she is the last person in this country who should be complaining about making provocative comparisons to evil regimes. To this day, the woman who compared detention centers for illegal immigrants to concentration camps still believes what the United States is doing at the southern border is no different than what took place in Nazi Germany.

Beyond the bogus accusations of racism and white supremacy, what the freshman Democratic Congressman willfully ignored was the real point behind the ad:

My question is: How long will it be before Facebook and Twitter pull Heng’s video? They did it to her before when she ran for Congress last year in what Red State’s streiff speculated was more about “interfer[ing] in a federal election campaign” than a benign attempt to shield Facebook users from sensitive imagery.

Stay tuned:

A parent describes how identity politics took over New York’s schools

Westlake Legal Group NY-school A parent describes how identity politics took over New York’s schools The Blog The Atlantic public schools New York Identity politics

Every once in a while the red and blue clouds over the American political landscape seem to make way for something that sounds like an authentic human voice, one that doesn’t seem to be following a predictable ideological script. Today the Atlantic published a piece like that in which author Geroge Packer describes what it has been like to send his two kids to school in New York. This might have been just a story about failing schools or the difficulties of dealing with a big bureaucracy, but in Packer’s view the last decade has been much more than that. What he describes, from a very personal vantage, is the troubling rise of identity politics in education.

After two years in a $50,000 a year private school, Packer and his wife decided to send their son to a public school. He admits to a lot of hesitation about this. There’s a real sense that the public school system is a mix of good and bad and navigating it often depends on luck. If your child happens to get placed in the wrong school, the long-term results could be devastating.

One day I was at a local playground with our son when I fell into conversation with an elderly black woman who had lived in the neighborhood a long time and understood all about our school dilemma, which was becoming the only subject that interested me. She scoffed at our “zoned” school—it had been badly run for so long that it would need years to become passable. I mentioned a second school, half a dozen blocks away, that was probably available if we applied. Her expression turned to alarm. “Don’t send him there,” she said. “That’s a failure school. That school will always be a failure school.” It was as if an eternal curse had been laid on it, beyond anyone’s agency or remedy. The school was mostly poor and black. We assumed it would fail our children, because we knew it was failing other children.

Eventually, Packer’s son was admitted to a school which he describes as “a liberal white family’s dream.” Its classrooms were diverse and its test scores were fairly good. For a time it seemed they had found a sweet spot between the grind of meritocracy and concerns about egalitarianism.

The school’s approach—the year-long second-grade unit on the geology and bridges of New York—caught his imagination, while the mix of races and classes gave him something even more precious: an unselfconscious belief that no one was better than anyone else, that he was everyone’s equal and everyone was his. In this way the school succeeded in its highest purpose.

And then things began to change…

At the heart of the new progressivism was indignation, sometimes rage, about ongoing injustice against groups of Americans who had always been relegated to the outskirts of power and dignity. An incident—a police shooting of an unarmed black man; news reports of predatory sexual behavior by a Hollywood mogul; a pro quarterback who took to kneeling during the national anthem—would light a fire that would spread overnight and keep on burning because it was fed by anger at injustices deeper and older than the inflaming incident. Over time the new mood took on the substance and hard edges of a radically egalitarian ideology.

This first lesson in the new progressivism came in the form of a school backlash against standardized testing. What started with a few parents concerns about the tests soon became a crusade which would eventually lead 95 percent of the parents at the school to opt their students out of the tests. Packer was one of the 5 percent who had his sone take the tests. He describes the moments leading up to this as a series of hushed conversations in which people were afraid to discuss diverging from the consensus view that the tests were bad and probably racist.

There is another story in the piece about the sudden switch to gender-neutral bathrooms caused by a single student. From his encounters with identity politics, Packer describes it and why he came to dislike it:

In politics, identity is an appeal to authority—the moral authority of the oppressed: I am what I am, which explains my view and makes it the truth. The politics of identity starts out with the universal principles of equality, dignity, and freedom, but in practice it becomes an end in itself—often a dead end, a trap from which there’s no easy escape and maybe no desire for escape. Instead of equality, it sets up a new hierarchy that inverts the old, discredited one—a new moral caste system that ranks people by the oppression of their group identity. It makes race, which is a dubious and sinister social construct, an essence that defines individuals regardless of agency or circumstance—as when Representative Ayanna Pressley said, “We don’t need any more brown faces that don’t want to be a brown voice; we don’t need black faces that don’t want to be a black voice.”

At times the new progressivism, for all its up-to-the-minuteness, carries a whiff of the 17th century, with heresy hunts and denunciations of sin and displays of self-mortification. The atmosphere of mental constriction in progressive milieus, the self-censorship and fear of public shaming, the intolerance of dissent—these are qualities of an illiberal politics.

I asked myself if I was moving to the wrong side of a great moral cause because its tone was too loud, because it shook loose what I didn’t want to give up. It took me a long time to see that the new progressivism didn’t just carry my own politics further than I liked. It was actually hostile to principles without which I don’t believe democracy can survive. Liberals are always slow to realize that there can be friendly, idealistic people who have little use for liberal values.

The story goes on to discuss what sounds like the overthrowing of the old system of meritocracy. In a new plan announced by Mayor de Blasio, parents were not-so-subtly warned that they needed to get on board with the new plan or else:

We were presented with a slideshow that included a photo of white adults snarling at black schoolchildren in the South in the 1960s—as if only vicious racism could motivate parents to oppose eliminating an admissions system that met superior work with a more challenging placement…

One training slide was titled “White Supremacy Culture.” It included “Perfectionism,” “Individualism,” “Objectivity,” and “Worship of the Written Word” among the white-supremacist values that need to be disrupted. In the name of exposing racial bias, the training created its own kind.

There’s much more to the story and all of it is worth a read. What Packer describes from his very personal viewpoint as a left-leaning parent is the rise of illiberal progressivism, an ideology that, contrary to some, isn’t limited to excitable students at a few college campuses. As he points out, this is something that has already found its way into elementary schools in New York. How long before we see the kind of ideological outbursts at some of these high schools which we’ve already seen at Oberlin and Evergreen State?

It seems like every new area Chick-fil-A opens a new restaurant in sees super-long crowds line up to enjoy some delicious chicken sandwiches and waffle fries.

Brooklyn is no exception. Bklyner reports:

… Chick-fil-A opened at 166 Flatbush Avenue this morning, right across the Barclays Center, with lines around the corner.

The big Southern chain known for its chicken sandwiches — which has also faced criticism after its founder spoke out against same-sex marriage — announced its Brooklyn opening last year, and today, it finally opened right next door to the Shake Shack. It is the seventh Chick-fil-A in NYC and the first in Brooklyn.

[…]
To celebrate the opening, Chick-fil-A’s operator Brandon Hurst did a promotion event where prizes were to be awarded for the first 100 people. Registration began today at 5 a.m., and before 7 a.m., lines were taking up the entire block.

Some Twitter users posted photos of the lines that were wrapped around the store:

Some posted selfies while they stood in the long line:

A friend of the owner gave a shout of encouragement:

Twitter user “nuffsaidny” noted this might be the first Chick-fil-A of its kind in America – one where the employees have an attitude. LOL:

As is often the case, there are people – usually liberals – who throw temper tantrums when Chick-fil-A restaurants open in their area:

Awww. Bless their hearts.

“Airplanes Took Aim”: NY Times Shamefully Goes the Ilhan Omar Route in Describing How 9/11 Happened

Westlake Legal Group 911-tower2-hit “Airplanes Took Aim”: NY Times Shamefully Goes the Ilhan Omar Route in Describing How 9/11 Happened Terrorism Social Media Politics NY Times North Carolina New York Times New York never forget Media journalism Ilhan Omar Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story Featured Post democrats Culture AOC Allow Media Exception Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez 9/11

Five months ago, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) said “some people did something” in a CAIR speech she gave where she talked about the 9/11/01 terrorist attacks. The “some people” she was referring to, of course, were the radical Islamic terrorists who “did something” by committing the attacks that killed nearly 3,000 innocent people.

Outrage was swift and came from many corners including from President Trump. The New York Post published a brutal front page reminder in response to Omar’s reprehensible comments:

Unfortunately, on the 18th anniversary of 9/11 it seems that the New York Times took a page from Omar’s book in characterizing the horrific events of that awful day.

In a now-deleted tweet they posted early this morning, the paper wrote that “airplanes took aim” at the World Trade Center, rather than noting terrorists “took aim.” They also noted the WTC was where “more than 2,000 people died” rather than accurately reporting it was where “nearly 3,000 people” were killed. Here are a couple of screen captures of the original tweet:

Not only was that how the tweet was written, but the actual story originally contained the same language:

Shorter New York Times: Some airplanes did something.

After a wave of criticism from Twitter users, the story was changed, but it still fell short by saying “people died” instead of “people were killed” (bolded emphasis added):

Once more, families gathered at ground zero, where nearly 3,000 people died on that bright September morning. Once more, there was an outpouring of grief. Once more, there was the sound of a bell tolling in mourning. And there was the rhythm of names being recited.

Eighteen years have passed since terrorists commandeered airplanes to take aim at the World Trade Center and bring them down.

The paper then posted an updated version of the tweet noting the correct number of people killed in the terror attacks (rather than the airplane attacks):

There is just no excuse, zero, zilch, nada, for the way this story was first presented. How many editors did it pass through before it went to publication? And for it to be done by the so-called “newspaper of record”, which is headquartered in the city that faced the brunt of the 9/11 attacks, it’s just flat out unacceptable.

I would be shocked if the paper doesn’t see a rise in people unsubscribing from it after today. Between the anti-Semitism, the TDS that clouds the judgment of their mainstream media reporters, and now this, the paper is literally not worth the paper it is written on anymore.

Flashback –>> Shame: In Standing By Omar’s 9/11 Comments, AOC Again Turns Her Back On Fellow New Yorkers

Bronx Residents Assault Police Officers For Helping Put Out a Fire

Westlake Legal Group street-car-night-driving-city-urban-569308-pxhere.com_-620x414 Bronx Residents Assault Police Officers For Helping Put Out a Fire rhetoric Politics Police Officers police New York milk Front Page Stories Front Page firefighters fire fight Featured Story democrats dangerous Bronx assault

Here’s another example of why the outrageous, generalized rhetoric against police officers we hear from the left is dangerous.

A fire broke out in a Bronx building last last week, drawing a crowd as firefighters battled the blaze. The police showed up to provide crowd control and multiple assaults took place against the officers.

The local New York media covered in ridiculous fashion, making it seem as if the officers were out for a brawl and were part of the cause. Take this story entitled Fight Breaks Out Between Cops and Residents As Firefighters Battle Bronx Blaze.

You can find the video of the incident at the link above.

Firefighters battling flames inside a Bronx building weren’t the only ones getting hot Tuesday afternoon, as tempers flared between police officers and residents right outside the burning building.

More than 100 firefighters were called to battle the flames shooting out of a sixth floor apartment kitchen near East 171st Street in Grand Concourse. The fire broke out around 4:30 p.m., and neighbors used the fire escape to climb from the smoke-filled units to safety.

Meanwhile, a fiery confrontation was going on outside the building, as tensions rose between heated tenants and police officers called to the scene to help clear the crowds, in order for the firefighters to quickly get in and out of the building.

The fight started as crowds refused to make way as cops demanded they move. Police say a 39-year-old woman ripped an officer’s body camera off and threw it to the ground, while another person threw a carton of milk at the cops before running off.

For the life of me, I don’t get what the point of this is. The officers are there trying to make room for firefighters to save the building these people live in, and they repay that by getting violent. Further, five firefighters were injured trying to serve these people.

Something has to change with how police are treated in this country. The vast majority are underpaid public servants just trying to do a tough job. You will always be able to find bad apples in any profession. That’s not a reason to spread overwrought, false propaganda against cops that leads to this kind of nonsense happening. You probably won’t see Bill de Blasio or anyone from New York City’s government push back on this because they are essentially complicit at this point, never missing a chance to undermine police.

The behavior exhibited by these Bronx residents would have caused a lot of people to throw their hands up and leave them to fight the fire themselves. They are lucky that firefighters and law enforcement abide by a code of duty that requires them to help even those who don’t deserve it.

As I wrote yesterday, Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) both indicated on Twitter that they stood in solidarity with the Antifa thugs who were arrested on charges of violence against law enforcement at the Boston Straight Pride Parade over the weekend.

For anyone who missed it, here are AOC’s and Pressley’s tweets from Saturday:

AOC’s tweet of support was particularly mind-boggling for a few reasons:

1) Why would a Squad member who claims to be a proponent of peace and who frequently claims conservatives deliberately endanger her life by allegedly engaging in “incitement” back radical left wing extremists who have a documented history of private property destruction and violent actions against police officers and those marching peacefully?

2) What does she mean by saying they ” put themselves on the line protecting the Boston community”? It’s utter nonsense because there was nothing to be “protected” from. Furthermore, and it makes the Antifa mobs who cover their faces while they assault innocent people and police officers sound like the Normandy beach heroes. (Wonder where she got that one from?)

3) Why did she call it a “white supremacist rally”? It wasn’t billed as one and there was no indication from any police reports or news reports afterwards that any racism or hatred towards the LGTBQ community were expressed at Saturday’s march.

In fact, photos taken at the Straight Pride rally show that, contra to AOC’s claims that it was a “white supremacist” rally, it was not:

Even people who don’t agree with holding a Straight Pride rally should be disgusted that a sitting member of Congress would encourage more Antifa thuggery against people she disagrees with by saying Antifa members shouldn’t be punished, and by absurdly and stupidly insinuating they are on the same level as those in the military who quite literally do put their lives on the line to protect their fellow citizens.

But this is par for the course for AOC and many other demagogues in the Democratic party whose first line of attack against any political opposition, including the legit variety, is to accuse them of racism.

The ladies of ABC’s “The View” were back from summer break on Tuesday and it didn’t take long for the fireworks to start as a discussion of mass shootings and gun rights got underway.

CBS News reports on what co-host Meghan McCain said in response to her colleagues’ suggestions that gun confiscation programs like the one 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke proposed were the way to go:

During the show, co-host Whoopi Goldberg pointed out the suspect in the shooting was able to purchase his assault-style rifle through a “loophole.” As co-host Sunny Hostin pinned blame on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s lack of action on any assault weapons legislation, McCain chimed in the debate as “the chick on the panel that spent most of her break shooting.”

“This is a ground-level issue for me,” she said, targeting 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke’s mandatory buyback plan. “If you’re going to be a gun-grabber, you don’t get my vote, period. We got to have a different conversation.”

Longtime host Joy Behar brought up the federal assault weapons ban in 1994 under former President Bill Clinton. “If you keeping rooting for Republicans, you’re going to get nothing done.”

“The AR-15 is by far the most popular gun in America, by far,” McCain said. “I was just in the middle of nowhere Wyoming, if you’re talking about taking people’s guns from them, there’s going to be a lot of violence.”

“But they lived without them for many years during the ban,” Behar replied.

“I’m not living without guns,” McCain responded. “It’s just that simple!”

Eric Swalwell (D-CA) who, fresh off of mocking “good guys with guns” after Saturday’s Odessa/Midland mass shooting, lied about McCain’s position in an attempt to score cool points on social media:

She didn’t “threaten violence.” She predicted there would be violence. Big difference. Even though Swalwell has proven to be a miserable failure when it comes to debating female Second Amendment supporters in the past, he should at least try to get the basic facts right in the future.

Disgraced attorney and fraud Michael Avenatti commented on McCain’s remarks as well in a desperate attempt to deflect from his serious shortcomings:

Some even called for McCain’s removal from the show over her remarks.

But as 2nd Amendment activist Stephen Gutowski notes, liberals have a serious problem with the truth – because McCain wasn’t wrong:

Tucker Carlson made a similar argument to McCain’s on his program Tuesday night, noting that there was no such thing as a “gun buyback”:

“Now you will hear propagandists, and you often do hear propagandists, describe that as a ‘gun buyback.’ But that’s nonsense, of course,” Mr. Carlson said. “Americans didn’t buy their guns from the government in the first place. They’re not buying them back. This is gun confiscation. It’s nothing but that.”

“So, this is — what you’re calling for is civil war. What you’re calling for is an incitement to violence. It’s something – I wouldn’t want to live here when that happened, would you?” Mr. Carlson said later in the segment.

[…]

“He’s going to confiscate firearms from tens of millions of law-abiding Americans whether it works or not, and he doesn’t care what you think about it,” Mr. Carlson said.

In response to all of this, here was the garbage take from the far left moonbats at Media Matters, an organization that exists purely to destroy Fox News and conservative media so only liberal viewpoints are allowed:

Conservative pundits floating violent reprisals as a response to gun safety legislation are echoing far-right extremist and militia rhetoric

It’s always fascinating to me watching unhinged liberals who have called for “revolutions” when they lose elections, who threaten to violently “take to the streets” in response to legislation they don’t like, who urge supporters to “get in the faces” of Republicans because Orange Man Bad, defend violent Antifa thugs, and who were perfectly content with the militant tactics of Occupy Wall Street as a way of forcing comformity complain when conservatives talk about what might happen in response if the government starts forcibly taking away guns that they legally own.

Do they even listen to themselves?

Welcome to Florida. Prepare to evacuate.

The Category 2 Hurricane Dorian parked itself over the Bahamas off the Florida coast Monday night about 100 miles east of West Palm Beach. Forecasters said the mammoth storm might just craze the eastern Florida coast.

But nonetheless mandatory evacuations were underway in eight counties, including nearly 100 senior citizen installations, and voluntary departures urged in another half dozen counties. Residents in Georgia and South Carolina were preparing to be hit by winds in the 135 mile an hour range.

It’s an unusual contradictory wrinkle compounded by weather coming days after news that Florida is now the most popular destination for Americans moving within the United States.

The Census Bureau reports that in the last year more than 566,000 new residents have moved into Florida, primarily from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Guess what those states have in common that Florida doesn’t: High taxes.

Some Florida counties and real estate offices are even advertising in the Northeast to lure new customers to their areas. The Tampa, Palm Beach and Orlando areas are especially popular.

Last year more than a half-million other immigrants (525,000) moved into the No. 2 state, Texas.

Of course, Florida has an absence of snow and bitter winters. But a primary motivation for this new economic migration is the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which President Trump signed in late 2017.

Among other provisions, that legislation capped federal deductions for state and local taxes at $10,000.

Largely Democratic governments in the Northeast are more than happy to skim more than that much from personal incomes each year. Illinois, which is now back in Democrats’ hands, is also a state experiencing a significant outflow of people.

Oh, look! Texas and Florida have no income taxes, as does Tennessee, which is also advertising itself as tax-friendly, especially to senior citizens on fixed incomes.

Nevada is also free of income taxes and attracting thousands of Californians who like the Western life but not the Golden State’s endless spending and tax increases.

California’s population of some 40 million is still growing because the existing population is having a lot of babies — 460,000 of them last year alone. Also, the newcomers don’t know about its freeway traffic until they arrive and it’s too late.

But Census folks reported last year 38,000 more Californians moved out of the state than moved in.

Red State’s Thomas LaDuke wrote last month about the left’s aggressive push to abolish the Electoral College on grounds that it somehow punishes minority voters. The movement was recently amplified in an Instagram Live video done by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) as well as tweets she posted claiming black, Latino, and Indian voters were being “disenfranchised” by the Electoral College.

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) had the audacity to respond to AOC’s claims at the time:

… which prompted Democrats like MSNBC’s Chris Hayes to make laughable arguments about how “if [the Electoral College] wasn’t specifically in the Constitution for the presidency, it would be unconstitutional”:

And in a lengthy piece were he absurdly argued AOC “understands democracy better than Republicans do” (which she retweeted), New York Times columnist Jamelle Bouie asserted that arguments like Crenshaw’s in favor of the EC are “part and parcel of the drive to make American government a closed domain for a select, privileged few.”

In other words, racism, y’all. Because when all else fails, that is the card Democrats like to play.

In the middle of the Labor Day holiday weekend, Crenshaw clapped back in a video response in which he countered Hayes, Bouie, and other Democrats like AOC on abolishing the EC:

“A Republic is more stable,” Crenshaw said in the video. “It’s also more representative of the entirety of the country.”

He went on to note that a Republic has “institutional checks and balances between the three branches of government and an emphasis on state’s rights, so it’s really difficult to ram through sweeping policy that affects the entirety of the country.”

Crenshaw also stated that “because we have an equally apportioned Senate and Electoral College, it means smaller states have a voice. Smaller, more rural states actually have a voice both in the Congress and when electing our president.”

He also posted a series of tweets on this topic:

Well done.
