2nd Whistleblower Comes Forward On Trump’s Dealings With Ukraine: Attorneys

A second whistleblower who’s said to have firsthand knowledge of allegations of misconduct involving President Donald Trump and Ukraine has come forward to speak with the intelligence community’s inspector general, two attorneys representing the whistleblowers have said.

Attorney Mark Zaid told ABC News Sunday that this intelligence official, whom his firm is also now representing, is able to speak directly about the details cited in a first whistleblower’s complaint against Trump regarding his July 25 phone call with Ukraine’s president.

Fellow attorney Andrew Bakaj also confirmed the development on Twitter, adding that their D.C. firm represents “multiple whistleblowers” in connection to the complaint against Trump.

Zaid said he does not know if this second individual is the same official reported by The New York Times on Friday, or if it is an additional one. That official was reportedly interviewed by Intelligence Community Inspector General Michael Atkinson during an investigation into the first whistleblower’s complaint.

An additional account of Trump’s communications with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky could potentially add credibility to that offered by the first whistleblower. The original complaint relies on secondhand knowledge but is supported by a summary of Trump’s call with Zelensky.

Garth Brooks admits things can get ‘intense’ with wife Trisha Yearwood after 14 years of marriage

After nearly 14 years of marriage, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood are more in love than ever.

With that being said, even the longtime loves can get into heated discussions.

Brooks, 57, admitted in a new interview that things can get “intense” between the two.

‘SILICON VALLEY’ STAR THOMAS MIDDLEDITCH: ‘SWINGING SAVED MY MARRIAGE’

“We’re coming up on 14 years of marriage so we’re kind of in that stage where we have discussions that are intense, a little more than usual,” Brooks told Us Weekly.

The singer said it’s their disagreements that help him to understand a different point of view.

“I think how she inspires me is she thinks differently than me. And so it forces you out of just what you think you know, into what don’t you know, and to look over in there,” he told the outlet.

Yearwood chimed in: “I think what he’s saying is that he listens to me and I’m usually right.”

Fox News caught up with the powerhouse country couple earlier this year, when Yearwood, 55, revealed her husband’s handyman skills are useful around the home.

“He is a whatever-it-takes-guy,” Yearwood told us about her superstar husband. “He is. I saw him looking up a video on how to repair the sink in the bathroom, and he did it from watching a video.

“If I go, ‘Hey, I need a dress for tonight and I don’t have time to go shopping,’ he could buy the dress and it would be perfect. I’m telling you, he is amazing,” the “Wrong Side of Memphis” singer continued.

Colorado wildfire grows to nearly 6,000 acres, spurs evacuations

A wildfire burning in central Colorado continues to grow as air quality advisories were issued for parts of the state Saturday due to smoke and up to 300 people have been evacuated.

The Decker Fire has been burning since Sept. 8 after it was started by a lightning strike, but in recent days has been growing as windy weather pushed the blaze closer toward homes in the area.

The National Interagency Fire Center said late Saturday the wildfire’s northernmost burn area is about two miles south of Salida, Colo., located about 100 miles west of Pueblo. The blaze has grown to about 5,921 acres and is only 5 percent contained.

“It’s kind of nerve-wracking because you know there’s homes up there,” Salida resident JoAnna Fisher told FOX31 on Saturday and she watched smoke billowing into the sky from her front porch.

The blaze has spurred mandatory evacuations in several subdivisions, causing some 300 people to be evacuated from about 130 homes. The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook that one home has burned so far in Fremont County while another has burned in Chafee County.

Around 806 personnel are assigned to the fire, which has closed multiple roads in Chaffee, Fremont and Saguache Counties.

“Hopefully they get it under control,” Salida Tyler Fisher told FOX31.

Officials issued a red flag warning on Saturday out of concern that high winds from the west could push the blaze eastward.

“Once established, wind-driven spot fires could spread quickly,” officials said on a Facebook page set up to monitor the blaze.

The Thornton Fire Department shared photos to Twitter of aircraft being deployed to help fight the blaze.

By Saturday night, the fire was reported to be “less alive” than in previous days, but officials were cautious that strong winds could “increase fire behavior.”

Humidity levels are expected to rise on Sunday, but strong winds are forecast to return by Monday that may fan the spread of flames this week.

“Potential still exists for alignment for large fire growth,” fire officials said.

Second Whistle-Blower Has Been Interviewed Over Trump’s Ukraine Dealings

Westlake Legal Group 06dc-trump-facebookJumbo Second Whistle-Blower Has Been Interviewed Over Trump’s Ukraine Dealings Zelensky, Volodymyr Whistle-Blowers United States Politics and Government Trump, Donald J Trump-Ukraine Whistle-Blower Complaint and Impeachment Inquiry Stephanopoulos, George ABC News

WASHINGTON — The legal team for the whistle-blower alarmed by President Trump’s dealings with Ukraine is now representing a second whistle-blower, an intelligence official with firsthand knowledge of the president’s interactions, the ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos reported Sunday.

The new whistle-blower has already been interviewed by the intelligence community’s inspector general’s office, but has not yet communicated with any congressional committees, Mr. Stephanapoulos said on his show, “This Week.” The new whistle-blower has the full legal protection for those who raise alarms about wrongdoing in the executive branch, he said.

A member of the legal team confirmed on Twitter that the firm was now representing a second whistle-blower.

The New York Times reported on Friday that an intelligence official with more direct knowledge of Mr. Trump’s dealing with Ukraine than the first whistle-blower, and who had grown alarmed by the president’s behavior, was weighing whether to come forward. The second official was among those interviewed by the intelligence community inspector general to corroborate the allegations of the original whistle-blower, one of the people briefed on the matter said.

The new whistle-blower matches the description of the official that The Times reported on last week. But Mr. Stephanapoulos said that Mark Zaid, one of the lawyers representing the whistle-blower, did not know whether the individual was the same person.

The first whistle-blower, a C.I.A. officer who was detailed to the White House, filed a complaint last month outlining how Mr. Trump used his power to push Ukraine to investigate his domestic political rivals, setting off an impeachment inquiry. Mr. Trump has tried to undermine the credibility of the first whistle-blower, whose identity is not publicly known, by saying that the individual was trading on secondhand information.

“The first so-called second hand information ‘Whistleblower’ got my phone conversation almost completely wrong, so now word is they are going to the bench and another ‘Whistleblower’ is coming in from the Deep State, also with second hand info,” Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter on Saturday night, referring to his now-infamous July 25 phone call with President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine. “Keep them coming!”

Mr. Zaid works for Compass Rose Legal Group, a law firm that specializes in representing whistle-blowers. He is part of the legal team that is now representing both individuals who have come forward. The team also includes Andrew P. Bakaj, the lead lawyer, and Charles McCullough III.

“I can confirm that my firm and my team represent multiple whistleblowers in connection to the underlying August 12, 2019, disclosure to the Intelligence Community Inspector General,” Mr. Bakaj said on Twitter. “No further comment at this time.”

Mr. Zaid did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Mark Zaid, the attorney representing the whistleblower who sounded the alarm on President Donald Trump’s dealings with Ukraine and triggered an impeachment inquiry, tells ABC News that he is now representing a second whistleblower who has spoken with the inspector general.

Zaid tells ABC News’ Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos that the second person — also described as an intelligence official — has first-hand knowledge of some of the allegations outlined in the original complaint and has been interviewed by the head of the intelligence community’s internal watchdog office, Michael Atkinson.

Alex Trebek Says He’s ‘Hanging In’ There Amid New Round Of Chemotherapy

Westlake Legal Group 5d99e32b210000b103aab33e Alex Trebek Says He’s ‘Hanging In’ There Amid New Round Of Chemotherapy

Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek said he is “hanging in” there as he undergoes another round of chemotherapy to treat his cancer.

Speaking to CTV News anchor Lisa LaFlamme on Friday, Trebek — who first underwent chemotherapy for stage 4 pancreatic cancer in March — said he was taking the steps needed to keep fighting the disease.

“So we’re back on the chemo and we’ll see if the numbers go down. And if they do … they can’t keep doing it forever of course. They’ll have to find a new protocol or whatever to administer,” Trebek told LaFlamme ahead of an appearance at his alma mater, the University of Ottawa. “We’ll play it by ear and keep chugging along until we either win or lose.”

Trebek, who has hosted “Jeopardy!” for 35 years, said he has “lived a good life” and is “not afraid of dying.”

“[I’ve lived] a full life, and I’m nearing the end of that life … if it happens, why should I be afraid that?” the 79-year-old said. “One thing they’re not going to say at my funeral, as a part of a eulogy, is, ‘He was taken from us too soon.’”

Trebek said in August that he’d “gone through a lot of chemotherapy” but that he’d finished the treatments and was “thankfully … on the mend.” Weeks later, however, he revealed he’d resumed chemotherapy after his “numbers went south.”

“It appears I will be having more chemo treatments ahead of me,” he said last month.

Trebek said Friday that the treatments were “easier” now in some ways because he had a better idea of what to expect.

“Now I know the day after chemo, my eyesight gets messed up a little. The next day after that, I start getting pains in my joints,” he told LaFlamme.

Trebek has received an outpouring of support and encouragement since he went public with his diagnosis.

“I am thankful for the kind words, the prayers and the advice you have offered, and I’m extremely touched by the warmth you have expressed in your comments to me,” he told his fans in March. “I’m a lucky guy.”
