‘Cause it’s the Best Way to Convince People: Ahead of the Dem Debate, Climate Change Radicals Suspend Themselves from a Bridge

I have an crazy concept for activists: When you do something really bizarre to get attention, it doesn’t help your cause.

It spreads a message alright, just not the one you intended.

Your new message is:

“We are all suffering from mental illness. Please, dear Lord, somebody — anybody — help us.”

Examples:

How To Save The Planet: During Brexit Debate, Climate Activists Glue Themselves To Parliament. Naked.

NUT: Left-Winger Fights Brexit By Stripping Naked On Live TV & Challenging Politician To Nude Debate

In An Effort To Force Congress To Save The Earth, Radicals Superglue Themselves To Walls In Washington. Yeah — That’ll Do It

See a pattern?

Pro tip: Any activism that involves glue or orifices to the south of the mouth is a FAIL (but congrats to Parliament’s anti-Brexiters for managing to combine the two — touché).

In Houston, this week’s radicals did manage to avoid adhesive and genitals, but there was still something dangling: Their whole bodies.

Those convinced the best way to sell the world on saving itself was to hang themselves from a bridge — because that’s the oldest trick in the book when it comes to winning an argument — got busy changing everyone’s minds Thursday.

Ahead of the city’s impending Democratic presidential primary, about a dozen activists suspended themselves from the Fred Hartman Bridge in order to fight the use of fossil fuels.

In order to make their point, they held yellow and red flags.

They should’ve gone with yellow and blue — those two colors make green.

Or…what’s the official flag for insanity?

Interesting choice to hang from a bridge: If the most extreme among us were to get their way, it wouldn’t be needed. People would cross the waters in row boats.

That’s not likely to happen, though — as noted by RedState’s Bonchie, CNN’s recent climate change town hall tanked:

CNN subjected television viewers to the torturous exercise of listening to 2020 Democrat candidates riff on climate change for seven straight hours. We got all kinds of craziness, from Bernie promoting taxpayer funded abortions to cull the population and reduce emissions to Buttigieg lecturing on the morality of eating hamburgers. If you want the government to control every aspect of your life, these people are your ticket.

The question is, how many people were actually watching? If you guessed that Fox News, with just their regular lineup, would nearly triple CNN’s viewership, congrats.

But maybe the Bridge Brigade will start the revolution.

Check it out in the video above. And though they aren’t nude, enjoy the drooping nuts.

The people aren’t into the idea of impeaching President Donald Trump and that was made painfully clear after an impeachment rally was embarrassingly short on attendees in Washington D.C.

According to Breitbart, the protest was to take place on the Capitol lawn, but come time for the event to occur, the place was devoid of demonstrators:

The eventbrite.com protest notice said it would take place at noon on Monday on the “Capitol lawn below the steps,” but no one showed up for that protest. This protest notice said that “events are registered with Indivisible,” one of the groups listed as a sponsor for the 11:00 a.m. protest.

Breitbart News reached out to the contact for the Indivisible event but did not receive a response. Breitbart News also reached out to MoveOn to ask if the protest was canceled and, if not, were organizers disappointed that no one showed up?

Monday was the first day Congress was back in session following its August break, and both advertised protests said the purpose was to demand lawmakers start an impeachment inquiry against the president.

This wasn’t an event put on by some random person on Facebook either. This was an event put on by big-time leftist groups from MoveOn to Democrats.com.

Westlake Legal Group Screen-Shot-2019-09-09-at-11.56.37-AM-620x384 Embarrassing: Leftist Groups Threw an “Impeach Trump” Rally In DC and No One Showed Up protest Politics moveon impeachment impeach Front Page Stories donald trump democrats Allow Media Exception It’s not a wonder that no one showed up. Polls consistently show that the American people have little interest in impeachment Trump, and haven’t seen any reason for it since the Russia investigation came up with nothing. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been trying to shoo Democrats away from the idea of it, and only Rep. Tulsi Gabbard seems to be the only 2020 candidate that understands that pushing for impeachment is too divisive.

It’s an unpopular thing to push for that only radicals truly believe is the way forward. A July poll showing only 11 percent of people believe impeachment will happen is reflective of that.

Still, the left can dream. As laughable as this is, the part that should make you angry is the fact that the mainstream media won’t report on this in order to avoid giving any indication that impeachment just isn’t realistic. The very word seems to attract eyes, and they’re in a time when they need all the eyes they can get thanks to their free-falling ratings.

It’s par for the course, though. These kinds of things happen all the time, and you never hear about them.

The first time I learned that protests often go unattended was when I lived in Denver, Colorado. At the time there was a massive push for gun control by the Democrats in that state, and an anti-gun group planned to have a rally below the Capitol steps. I went down to see what I could when the rally was supposed to happen and found one lone girl standing there with a sign and three or four squirrels.

My laugh was probably impolite.

Chick-fil-a greeted by protesters as it opens its first Canadian location

Westlake Legal Group Toronto-protest Chick-fil-a greeted by protesters as it opens its first Canadian location The Blog protest Chick-Fil-A Canada

Today, Chick-fil-a opened its first Canadian location in the city of Toronto. Naturally, there was a protest which featured chanting and a die-in. But there were also people eager to try the food. When the new store opened at 10:30 am the first people inside had been camped out front all night:

The protesters showed up a short while later. They sound a little lackluster in this clip:

The ostensible cause of all of this is a comment the CEO of Chick-fil-a made in 2012. Matt Walsh suggested maybe it was time to let it go:

In addition to LGBT folks, there was also a contingent of protesters concerned about chickens (2nd clip below):

And also about capitalism:

A little while later they held a die-in on the sidewalk. Notice the line of people stepping over the bodies to get to the delicious food:

After the nap on the sidewalk, it was back to chanting and some chalking:

By the time lunch rolled around a couple hours later, some protesters are still there but the line for food was around the block. In the video clip below it looks to me like at least 100 people are waiting for food. And of course the customers aren’t hanging out to make a point like the protesters, they’re cycling through the restaurant and the line stays long because new customers are constantly getting in line.

The Rebel put together a pretty good video covering the protest this morning. There are people of all backgrounds and colors waiting in line. None of them are there to do harm to gay people, though they are admittedly there to do harm to chickens. The interviewer meets one engaged gay couple in line. Asked if the protesters represents them, one of the guys (his name isn’t given) replies, “They don’t represent me, they represent foolishness in my mind.” Very well said.

Sometimes, “activism” is just a way for people to say to the world, “We’re a bunch of nuts.”

Apropos:

NUT: Left-Winger Fights Brexit By Stripping Naked On Live TV & Challenging Politician To Nude Debate

How To Save The Planet: During Brexit Debate, Climate Activists Glue Themselves To Parliament. Naked.

In my opinion, participants in showcases such as the above only hurt their cause — folks aren’t positively impressed with wild acts of craziness.

But a group that visited the U.S. Capitol Tuesday clearly disagrees.

Radical organization Extinction Rebellion wanted to protest Congress’s neglect to formally declare a planetary emergency over climate issues.

They believe the U.S. is in great need of a “national, social, industrial, and economic mobilization of the resources and labor,” as stated by recently failed legislation. It would seem the world’s being oppressed by goons who don’t realize we’re about to all cease to exist.

Therefore, in order to raise awareness and fight the power (company), dissidents used Gorilla Glue to adhere their hands to the walls inside tunnels connecting House office buildings to the Capitol.

Yeah. That’ll get everybody joinin’ ya.

Point well made.

The resolution at the center of GlueFest ’19 was sponsored by your rich Uncle Bernie as well as that legendary fighter of farts, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (here and here). It was introduced in July but tanked in both chambers.

Extinction Rebellion demands otherwise.

Spokeswoman Kaela Bamberger explained to The Washington Post:

“What we wanted to do was disrupt business as usual in the lives of the congresspeople as they headed to the Capitol for votes at 6:30. We were prepared with [an acetone solution to dissolve the glue] if the police had started forcing them off.”

So they hoped for a tiny group to wrestle Congress into doing their bidding? Isn’t that at odds with the general idea of American government?

A video reveals that the gang hoped for national law to be thrust upon hundreds of millions of people due to a blocked doorway:

“We’re blocking this doorway because Congress isn’t taking the climate crisis seriously.”

Their human chain didn’t turn out to be very effective.

As per The Daily Wire:

Although the protestors instructed passersby to go outside and around the building if they wanted to get to the other side of the human chain, many individuals ducked under their glued limbs in order to get through the doorway.

One protestor announced:

“If you respect the climate emergency, you will go around.”

Republican Texas Rep. Lance Gooden spoke to TDW about the world-changers:

“It was silly, it was borderline comical. … [I went] between a gentleman’s hand and foot and said ‘Excuse me’ both times… In the future, I would have just let them remain self-glued to the walls when everyone goes home for the night. See who has the stamina to stick with it.”

Maybe they could’ve saved Earth if they’d gone the naked route. The men could’ve glued something other than their hands to the insides of the tunnels.

That would’ve proved their commitment — when it comes to rescuing humanity, their heroism is balls-to-the-wall.

And actually, I think I just solved Jessica Yaniv’s problem — DIY (Dongally Injure Yourself).

Starbucks Apologizes to Police Officers It Disrespected, but Reveal They Don’t Consider It a Big Deal In the Process

Westlake Legal Group rsz_08fa0873-f266-477b-a28b-046a8ee2d76f-620x414 Starbucks Apologizes to Police Officers It Disrespected, but Reveal They Don’t Consider It a Big Deal In the Process tempe Starbucks protest Politics police Front Page Stories Featured Story Business & Economy Arizona Allow Media Exception

Starbucks finally apologized after messing up big on Saturday when it kicked a group of police officers out of its store in Tempe, Arizona.

As my colleague Elizabeth Vaughn wrote on Saturday, the officers routinely visited the starbucks and were getting a coffee before their Fourth of July shift began. Little did they know that they were committing the crime of standing within eyesight of another customer who “did not feel safe” in the midst of the “police presence.” The staff asked the officers to either move out of the customer’s line of site or leave the establishment.

Naturally, it did not go over well with the public, who proceeded to drag it across every coal it could find. This includes the Tempe Officers Association, who even came out with a neat little graphic.

On Sunday, the coffee chain has issued a formal apology as written from its VP of U.S. retail operations, Rossann Williams:

Dear Chief Moir and the entire Tempe Police Department,

Thank you, Chief Moir, for the conversation today. On behalf of Starbucks, I want to sincerely apologize to you all for the experience that six of your officers had in our store on July 4.

When those officers entered the store and a customer raised a concern over their presence, they should have been welcomed and treated with dignity and the utmost respect by our partners (employees). Instead, they were made to feel unwelcome and disrespected, which is completely unacceptable.

At Starbucks, we have deep appreciation for your department and the officers who serve the Tempe community. Our partners rely on your service and welcome your presence, which keeps our stores and the community a safe and welcoming place.

Our strong relationship with the Tempe Police Department has provided us the opportunity to host several “Coffee with a Cop” events in area stores, which bring residents and police together to discuss relevant issues and find common ground. We look forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship with you, and we agree that the experience of your officers requires an important dialogue – one that we are committed to being part of.

What occurred in our store on July 4 is never the experience your officers or any customer should have, and at Starbucks, we are already taking the necessary steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again in the future.

I will be in Tempe this evening and welcome the opportunity to meet with any of you in person to address concerns or questions.

Two things can be true at one time. I’m glad that Starbucks apologized for the behavior of one of its employees toward a group of men who wake up every day, put on a badge and a gun and stand between us and societal chaos. An apology was desperately needed in this situation, and Starbucks did the smart thing by ignoring the SJWs who celebrated the kicking out of the officers, and making it clear that they understand they goofed.

But…

It can also be true that the response seems light compared to apologies it made in the past. It was just last year that two black men were kicked out of a Starbucks for what was perceived as loitering. In response to the outrage, Starbucks said that it would close down its locations in order to train its employees on racial sensitivity and eliminate their “unconscious bias.” As I wrote last April, when this decision was made, “unconscious bias” usually implies that the person being accused of it is racist without his or her knowledge.

Not only was it a useless waste of resources in the name of optics, it was insulting to Starbucks employees who were essentially called racist. Regardless, Starbucks was trying to look good to the SJW community who are never pleased by anything anyway.

Starbucks, so far as has been revealed, has no plans to shut its stores down for a day in order to train its employees to better respect police. Even the big-wig it’s sending to Tempe to speak to the PD is a lower level than the very CEO who flew down to Pennsylvania when the two black men were kicked out. Unlike that incident, kicking out officers doesn’t seem to warrant that level of response.

Starbucks showed its hand here, and I’m not entirely sure the people are going to consider the apology good enough.

Hong Kong protesters break into government building to oppose extradition bill

Westlake Legal Group Hong-Kong-legco Hong Kong protesters break into government building to oppose extradition bill The Blog riot protest Hong Kong

Today is the 22nd anniversary of the day that Britain handed sovereignty of Hong Kong over to China. That anniversary added a new spark to the ongoing protests over a bill which would allow mainland China to extradite people to the mainland for any perceived crime. That bill was suspended last month in the wake of massive street protests but the suspension was a temporary measure and protests to have it permanently withdrawn have continued. Here’s an aerial shot of the protests today:

Some of the protesters broke through a window into the main government building:

Once inside, they made their way to the main legislative floor where they spray painted the walls and hung up the British colonial flag:

The protesters disagreed about what to do next. Some wanted to remain in the building overnight while others argued it was better to leave before police stormed the building. From the BBC:

One pro-democracy legislator told the BBC that young protesters initially said they would stay all night.

“They’re saying that they would beat the police by sheer numbers, and that sounds very scary to me,” she said.

“I was a journalist and I did cover the Tiananmen bloodbath 30 years ago, and that’s exactly what those students said back then in the Chinese capital.”

Her colleague, legislator Fernando Cheung, had been inside with those occupying the building, and said he was glad they all left safely without encountering police.

“If they resisted… I’m afraid there would be bloodshed, or I think the police wouldn’t be hesitant to use force to disperse them,” he said.

People did clear out just as police started using tear gas outside:

Police looking over the wreckage:

I sympathize with any efforts to oppose the oppressive communist government of China, and I hope what happened today doesn’t become an excuse for the mainland to crack down on protests.

A Study Found 92% of Left-Wing Activists Still Live with Parents, and It’s Not Likely to Get Better

Westlake Legal Group AP_18073558227040-620x341 A Study Found 92% of Left-Wing Activists Still Live with Parents, and It’s Not Likely to Get Better university Unemployment student debt protest Politics millennials leftist left-wing Front Page Stories Featured Story democrats college antifa Activism

They’re marching down the street wearing black, their faces obscured by red bandanas or possibly a Guy Fawkes mask. They’re intimidating as they create a mob and chase after you, calling you a fascist and a Nazi because you don’t share their extreme ideology. They’re marching down the street bashing in car windows and vandalizing storefronts. They’re going to do all it takes to stop fascism and hate speech.

But they have to hurry this along because they have to be home before 10:30, or else their mom will be totally pissed off.

This is a likely story according to a Berlin study, but this is not a new story. In fact, the Daily Mail published these findings back in 2017 which showed that 92 percent of leftist activists that were arrested in Berlin still live with their parents, and what’s more, a third are completely unemployed:

The figures, which were published in daily newspaper Bild revealed that 873 suspects were investigated by authorities between 2003 and 2013.

Of these 84 per cent were men, and 72 per cent were aged between 18 and 29.

More than half of the arrests were made in the Berlin districts of Friedrichshain, Kreuzberg and Mitte, mostly during demonstrations.

A third of them were unemployed, and 92 per cent still live with their parents.

Why am I writing on it now? Because the story is making the rounds today, and after looking into it, the story likely hasn’t changed.

According to Fox Business, millennials are still living at home two years later:

A recent analysis found that 14 million adults between the ages of 23 to 37 are living with their parents, a sign that some millennials may have financial burdens.

The analysis by ZillowOpens a New Window. determined that 21.9 percent of millennials lived with their parents, up from 12.7 percent in 2000. More millennials chose to stay with their parents in areas where the rents were high. The study surveyed data from the U.S. Census Bureau and the American Community Survey.

While I’m not automatically assigning millennials to being leftist activists — I just barely fall within the age range myself — I will note that the age range of those living with their parents falls within the age range of those leftists in Berlin who were caught by police and got arrested for leftist radicalism in the streets.

The reasons millennials live with their parents has been evident for a long time. They owe monumental amounts of debt for a degree that is essentially useless. With everyone going for similar jobs, the jobs are all taken up rather quickly. Millennials end up living with mom and dad as they flip burgers and hope an opportunity comes along for solid employment.

Right now, the U.S.’s student collective student loan debt is around $1.5 trillion. Some companies, in order to attract younger workers as their boomers retire off, offer to help pay off the student debt.  This is all well and good, but all the boomers aren’t going to retire out all at once. Hoping you’re one of the millennial replacements is still a lottery.

Imagine you’re a millennial drowning in debt with little to no job prospects. You come home from flipping burgers to find your degree uselessly hanging on your wall. You’re fresh out of college and maybe leftist professors have planted seeds of doubt in your mind about the American system if they haven’t completely turned you against it and made you a raving lunatic. The American system isn’t exactly helping you either.

Then some politicians come along basically telling you that if you join them, they’ll completely wipe away your debt and proceed to promise you all these free things like Medicare for all. They tell you that you’ll be helping make the world a better place, which sounds great to someone who feels useless.

Maybe it started back in college, or maybe it starts online. You join some groups, you meet other people who draw you further in. One thing leads to another and you’re marching the streets chanting nonsense about the system. Maybe things get heated and soon you’re dragged into a confrontation with people who oppose your side. Things get heated and some things happen. You get arrested.

We can trace this back to the University which handed out a degree that’s worth far less than it charged and gave the students ideas that all the worst things they’ve ever heard about America are true. Society drilled it into the student’s mind, however, that without that degree the student would be worthless out of college. He or she worked hard to get that degree in hopes of a better future, only to not get one. It’s the saddest joke on millennials today.

Maybe college isn’t the best idea.

Mayor Pete faces off with Black Lives Matter protesters in South Bend

Westlake Legal Group Buttigieg Mayor Pete faces off with Black Lives Matter protesters in South Bend The Blog South Bend protest police shooting Pete Buttigieg Mayor Pete Indiana black lives matter

Pete Buttigieg pulled himself off the campaign trail this week to attend to a matter that arose in South Bend, Indiana. It’s his day job, after all, being Mayor of South Bend. There was a police shooting involving a white police officer and a black man early last Sunday.

Sgt. Ryan O’Neill shot and killed Eric Logan, age 54. O’Neill claims that Logan approached him with a knife but O’Neill’s body camera wasn’t on at the time of the shooting. Police responded to a report that a person was going through cars. Logan was in a vehicle in an apartment building parking lot as O’Neill approached him. Logan got out of the car and came toward O’Neill with a knife raised. Then O’Neill shot him. Mr. Logan died at the hospital. As happens these days, a video of the confrontation went viral. As tensions grew in South Bend, Mayor Pete decided to go back to his city and attend to the unrest.

Mayor Pete addressed an angry crowd of Black Lives Matter supporters Friday night during a Justice for South Bend rally. Police Chief Scott Ruszkowski and Buttigieg were confronted by about 150 people with a list of demands.

As the 150 or so demonstrators circled in, the event billed as a march actually spent its first 40 minutes in a tense discussion in front of police headquarters on West Sample Street, featuring shouts, expletives and raw emotions.

A member of the group read a list of demands to Buttigieg, calling for O’Neill to be fired and for a review of the case by the U.S. Department of Justice. It also called for the resignation of Ruszkowski, body camera policy changes, new training and other changes.

Family members of the deceased man were present, including his mother.

“I’m mad because my brother died,” Tyree Bonds, brother of Eric, said in the middle of the loud, intense dialogue. “People are getting tired of you letting your officers do whatever they want to do.”

Shirley Newbill, Eric’s mother, asked Buttigieg and the city to act on her son’s death.

“I have been here all my life, and you have not done a damn thing about me or my son or none of these people out here,” she said. “It’s time for you to do something.”

When Mayor Pete admitted that he saw no evidence that the officer had been disciplined for racist behavior, the angry shouts from the crowd began. One asked if Buttigieg supports Black Lives Matter and another called him a racist. One woman said that he wouldn’t get her vote as he runs for president. Buttigieg rather awkwardly said he wasn’t asking for any votes that day.

Buttigieg told the crowd he would send a letter to the Department of Justice to explain the case and its effects on South Bend. When asked to sign a petition, he declined. Citing the wording in the petition, he would consider one with revisions.

Buttigieg said the department had instituted civil rights and other training, worked on the safety board minority representation and put forth body cameras, and he acknowledged that it has not been enough.

“This isn’t enough, and I get it,” he said. “We set up body cameras, right? And they failed us when we needed them. If you are saying it’s not good enough, you’re right.”

Also, the mayor’s office on Tuesday announced that the police chief had issued a new order that “officers should activate their body cameras during all work-related interactions with civilians.”

Local faith leaders, community organizers, and others have asked for an independent prosecutor to handle the case.

Elite female soccer player refuses to honor American flag, blames Trump

She calls herself a walking protest to President Trump. Even while overseas, soccer star player Megan Rapinoe refused to show respect for her country in the most basic way. She didn’t sing the national anthem or even put her hand over her heart as it played before the U.S. women’s soccer team’s match with Thailand.

The score of that match and the team’s celebrations after each goal scored became the story, as some labeled it as bad behavior. When I first read about Megan Rapinoe’s politically-motivated behavior I was surprised she didn’t garner more attention than she did. After all, her actions are meant to grab the attention of soccer fans as she brings politics into the sport of soccer. With the passage of some time, though, I questioned if her part of the story was really any big deal or not. The more I think about it, though, the more I am convinced that it is.

Megan Rapinoe is a member of an elite team of American women athletes. I congratulate the American women competing in the World Cup competition, three-time Women’s World Cup champions, and wish them well. Rapinoe’s behavior does not sit well with me.

Rapinoe received attention when she became the first white player to kneel during the national anthem. She did so in solidarity with former football player Colin Kaepernick in August 2016. Kaepernick began the protest to bring attention to police brutality and racial inequality. President Obama was in office. She said she would “probably never sing the national anthem again” at that time. In 2017 President Trump criticized the NFL players who participated in kneeling during the national anthem and that led to the pile-on from other players as they also took a knee on the football field. The gesture began to be associated with an anti-Trump protest and overshadowed the original intent.

The U.S. soccer federation did what the NFL refused to do – they nipped the protest in the bud. Rapinoe was not pleased that she was denied the opportunity to make a political statement during a sports event. She felt entitled to being included in the decision-making process, though she is a player, not a team owner or member of the federation’s governing board.

She said she wasn’t satisfied with the conversation that stemmed from her decision to kneel during the anthem. She expressed her displeasure with U.S. soccer’s statement about the kneeling controversy and the federation’s decision to adopt a rule requiring players to “stand and honor the flag.”

“Using this blanketed patriotism as a defense against what the protest actually is was pretty cowardly. I think the NFL does it,” she told Yahoo Sports. “I felt like the statement from U.S. Soccer, and then the rule they made without ever talking to me, that was the same as what the NFL was doing – just to not have the conversation, to try to just stop me from doing what I’m doing instead of at least having a conversation, and trying to figure out a [solution] that makes sense for everyone.”

Rapinoe was a captain of the team during the game against Thailand. She scored a goal during the game. No one doubts her athletic ability. She carried through with her routine of not singing along to the national anthem or placing her hand over her heart as it played. It’s really offensive to many Americans, though, to behave this way overseas. For me, I don’t care if she sings or not. A lot of people don’t sing along to the national anthem, but they stand and most people place their hand over their heart in a gesture of respect. Being overseas places an extra burden on Americans. It used to be a rule of thumb that Americans didn’t criticize the United States while overseas. Criticisms and political partisanship were left at the water’s edge. That isn’t what happens anymore and it’s not a good thing. Whether it’s Nancy Pelosi, the third most powerful person in American government, criticizing President Trump to reporters in France during the 75th commemoration of D-Day, or former Vice-President Biden slamming Trump during a speech in Germany earlier this year, bad behavior is becoming the norm.

I think about the patriotism shown by American athletes during the Olympic games. How many times have we seen them tear up as the American anthem is played during award ceremonies? Usually, we have no idea what, if any, political views those athletes hold and that is as it should be. They are representatives of the United States of America. It’s the same for the players in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She said in May 2019 that her protest is now about President Trump.

While she will still represent the U.S. in their effort to win another World Cup, Rapinoe called herself a “walking protest” she believes the Trump administration doesn’t “value all American equally.”

“I feel like it’s kind of defiance in and of itself to just be who I am and wear the jersey, and represent it,” Rapinoe told the website. “Because I’m as talented as I am, I get to be here, you don’t get to tell me if I can be here or not. So it’s kind of a good ‘F you’ to any sort of inequality or bad sentiments that the administration might have towards people who don’t look exactly like him. Which, God help us if we all looked like him. Scary. Really scary. Ahh, disturbing.”

As I said, I don’t care if she actually sings along to the national anthem or not. It’s not out-of-bounds, though, to expect her to show some respect for the flag while overseas. She’s a privileged American living her dream, thanks to the sacrifices of brave Americans who fought for her right to do so on foreign soil. While she contemplates social justice and inequality, maybe she should also think about how fortunate she is to be an American. She told a reporter last October what it would take for her to show respect for her country.

“It would take a lot,” she responded. “It would take criminal justice reform. It would take the huge inequality gap that we have to be much better. It would take a lot of progress in LGBTQ rights. We just have such a disparity in this country in so many different ways, inequality in so many different ways.”

It is her right to choose to behave as she does. That is a right afforded her as an American citizen. Just because she can act as she does, however, doesn’t mean she should. She should keep her politics off the soccer field. There’s plenty of time for advancing her ideas during the off-season.

The Western Oregon University recently featured a Republican speaker and incited the reaction of college leftists, including its Antifa members, who attempted to storm the speech, in addition to ignoring simple questions and promoting murder.

According to Wall Street Journal contributor Andy Ngo, Joey Gibson of Patriot Prayer was to speak at WUO. This caused a reaction by the student body government who sent out an email to students denouncing hate speech. What hate speech Gibson was guilty of was not discussed.

Antifa set up a mural in readiness for Gibson’s arrival that read 183-PIG, which according to Ngo, 183 is slang for murder.

Leftists turned out for event as well, bearing signs that accused attendees and the speaker of being a Nazi. Another person took photos of every person entering the room where the speech was to happen.

Ngo took a picture of standing-room-only space available to see the speech. Ngo wondered if the attendance was a result of the student government attempting to warn people away from watching Gibson.

Security was put up around the entrance to the room, though the protesters gathered around the glass and attempted to drown the Gibson out from there. One man kept screeching in a heavy metal voice according to Ngo, who posted a video of it.

Some of the opposition still showed up to the speech to try to corner Gibson. It didn’t go well, as one woman threw out unfounded accusations about President Donald Trump’s words and actions, including his supposed rape of various women.

Ngo also posted footage of Gibson interacting with the protesters before the event. He asked what hate speech he was guilty of, and no one could come up with an answer for him. After some time attempting to get them to see reason, the protesters attempted to drown Gibson out by singing “You Are My Sunshine.”

Ngo attempted to get footage of the interaction between officers and protesters attempting to force their way in, but was blocked by protesters who held signs up to block his view. Ngo said that one such attempt to gain access to the room almost resulted in a fight.

After the speech was done, protesters formed a wall of lines in order to make a “walk of shame” for attendees.

This is another example of how college leftists do and think what they’re told instead of actually attempting to sit down with others, get to know them, and attempt to find a middle ground. They’re told Republicans are evil and should never be listened to or engaged with.

This too often results in echo-chamber thinking that begins to become dangerous, with concepts like physical force and violence become perfectly acceptable to them.
