Obama praises former staffers for anti-Trump op-ed

Westlake Legal Group TrumpObama Obama praises former staffers for anti-Trump op-ed Washington Post The Blog racism President Trump Barack Obama

The Washington Post did the bidding of the former Obama administration Friday by publishing an op-ed signed onto by 149 African-American staffers who worked in his administration. To be honest, you will likely not recognize any of the signatories except for one – Valerie Jarrett. Her name is tucked away in the middle of the list, so as not to be too conspicuous.

The op-ed can be read here. The reason behind the piece, other than to reiterate that the Orange Man is bad, is to protest his controversial statement directed at the four far-left female freshman congresswomen. “If they are not happy here, they can leave.” All four are specifically named in the piece, along with a standard laundry list of “demands” of the left. The staffers were careful to include some loaded language – the “original sin” of America, as well as the “racist foundations” of the American criminal justice system.

We are proud descendants of immigrants, refugees and the enslaved Africans who built this country while enduring the horrors of its original sin. We stand on the soil they tilled, and march in the streets they helped to pave. We are red-blooded Americans, we are patriots, and we have plenty to say about the direction this country is headed. We decry voter suppression. We demand equitable access to health care, housing, quality schools and employment. We welcome new Americans with dignity and open arms. And we will never stop fighting for the overhaul of a criminal-justice system with racist foundations.

To drive home the premise of their op-ed, the Washington Post includes a YouTube video for dramatic effect.

They go on in the op-ed to accuse President Trump of “racism, sexism, homophobia and xenophobia”, which at this point is just tiresome. Republican presidents have been accused of racism for as long as I can remember. Absent from this truth to power moment, however, is the acknowledgment that President Obama was known as the Deporter-in-Chief and deported more than three million people. Is that xenophobic? Obama was against same-sex marriage before he was for it (conveniently in time for his re-election campaign). Is that homophobia? President Trump employs more women in top jobs than President Obama did. Is that sexism? And, most importantly, President Obama divided Americans along racial lines more than any of his predecessors. The Barack Obama known for his excellent speech delivered at the 2004 Democrat convention was long gone by the time we got President Obama.

Our love of country lives in these demands, and our commitment to use our voices and our energy to build a more perfect union. We refuse to sit idly by as racism, sexism, homophobia and xenophobia are wielded by the president and any elected official complicit in the poisoning of our democracy. We call on local, state and congressional officials, as well as presidential candidates to articulate their policies and strategies for moving us forward as a strong democracy, through a racial-equity lens that prioritizes people over profit. We will continue to support candidates for local, state and federal office who add more diverse representation to the dialogue and those who understand the importance of such diversity when policymaking here in our country and around the world. We ask all Americans to be a good neighbor by demonstrating anti-racist, environmentally friendly, and inclusive behavior toward everyone in your everyday interactions.

Former President Obama weighed in to support his staffers via a tweet.

“An America that is better.” Better than what? That is my question after that tweet.

The trope presented by the former Obama staffers, and their willing cohorts in the press, is that Barack Obama was a president who brought Americans together, that he rose above the fray. Nothing is farther from the truth. While they re-write history, conservatives like me can remember continual attacks, whether it was demanding a boycott of Fox News or Valerie Jarrett herself asking for the names of people prominent in social media that opposed the passage of Obamacare. She encouraged Americans to turn in the names of bloggers, for instance, who wrote unfavorably about Obamacare. I’m old enough to remember all of that. Remember when Barack Obama rushed to the side of his friend in Cambridge who was mistaken by white cops as a burglar at his home? Excuse me if I’m not rushing to sing his praises now.

If you ask me, this op-ed has Valerie Jarrett written all over it. Obama didn’t make a move without her consent and with his tweet supporting this piece coming out, it looks a little too staged to be spontaneous. The 2020 campaigns of some Democrat candidates have hit some bumps. We know from reports that Obama encouraged Kamala Harris to run. Joe Biden is sinking in the polls, though he still has strong African-American support, especially in states like South Carolina. Perhaps Team Obama has decided that now is the time for them to go on the offense and start helping out some of the candidates running against President Trump.

Racist: redefined

Westlake Legal Group redefining-the-word-RACIST-620x618 Racist: redefined words racist racism Front Page Stories definition
The meaning of a word often changes through time. “Awful” used to mean “full of awe.” In the distant past, when you said something was nice you were indicating that it was foolish or silly.
And at one time senile just meant old, not forgetful or demented.
With these examples in mind I propose that it is time to change the meaning of racist. It has been so overused that the original definition no longer applies. So let’s execute a complete flip of the word and force it to mean something super, desirable, or positive.
My goal is when I hear someone say, “that was a such racist cartoon you drew for RedState!” I will just smile and say, “thank you. I thought so too.”

Black Trump supporter by Johnny Silvercloud, licensed under CC BY-SA 2.0/Original

Imagine being a black individual in this country who, after much thought and consideration, expressed that you align more with the right than you do the left. You express your desire to pull the lever for Donald Trump in 2020 and believe that when it comes to how this country is run, you say that fewer entitlements, lower taxes, and more policing is good for the nation.

Then one morning you wake up and are informed that you’re not black anymore. You’ve been unpersoned. You hear from leftists in Hollywood and social media that your identity as a black person has been revoked!

You receive messages like this one below.

You don’t have to be black for this to apply to you either. You can be Hispanic, Asian, Middle Eastern. It doesn’t matter. Your heritage, experience and more are subject to the approval of the left.

I might just be a white guy who supports and his supported by the white patriarchy, but why is it that members of the left believe that they have this kind of power? How is it that they believe to have the authority to label who is and isn’t a valid member of this society.

Didn’t we fight a very bloody civil war to get it across to Democrats that we don’t do that here in American anymore? They lost the power to define a minority person’s worth as a citizen. Yet we’re still seeing leftists toss out a minority individual’s worth and look down on them because of who they are.

My colleague Kira Davis wrote an excellent open letter to Hollywood actress Bette Middler who did this very thing to a group of black people at a Trump rally. Middler, without knowing these men or even considering them individuals, accused them of being “blackground” figures who were paid to be seen standing behind President Donald Trump at a rally in order to make him look good.

Davis’s response was spot on:

For all of our talk about tolerance, diversity and how racist those big, bad scary Republicans were, the worst discrimination and stereotyping I ever experienced came from my left-wing brethren. It didn’t take me long to figure out that for many non-Black progressives I was not an individual…I was a box to check on their diversity list.

Ms. Midler, that is what you did with that truly thoughtless tweet – you revealed that you only see Black Americans as quotas while suggesting Trump was paying people to be quotas. Project much?

We see thinking like Middler’s come from the left a little too often, and they seem very comfortable with it. This is because they bought their own lie, hook, line, and sinker, that they are truly the defenders of the minority and Republicans are only out to, as Joe Biden once said, put them back in chains.

Hilarious, since it was the right that broke their chains and fought for civil rights.

To the left, they seem to think that as the sole protectors of minorities they know what’s in a minority community’s best interest and have the authority to tell them what is and isn’t good for them to do. How they should and shouldn’t act. What’s more, they become highly offended when a minority individual thinks individually and decides to side with the very people that they just know hate them.

With that mentality, they unperson an individual without any feelings of remorse. To them, a black person is supposed to fall into a specific box, and if they don’t, then they’re a race traitor and worthy of the worst kind of derision. Middler still hasn’t apologized for her comment despite the fact that she received an astounding shellacking for her racism.

To be clear, this is the definition of racism. It’s the idea that if a person of a certain race can’t be owned by a certain party, then they should be disappeared. The disappearing may have taken on a different meaning decades ago, but the idea is pretty much the same.

This country was based on individualism, and that should be maintained. However, too many Democrats have had, and still, have trouble understanding that minorities don’t belong to them. If a minority individual wants to vote for Trump, he has his or her reasons. People are more than their skin color and don’t have to be in one box or another.

Popcorn time: No more Mr. Nice Biden?

Westlake Legal Group biden-fist Popcorn time: No more Mr. Nice Biden? The Blog racism kamala harris Joe Biden Cory Booker 2020 Democrat debates

Joe Biden’s mad as hell and he’s not going to take, er … being the frontrunner any more. The former VP promised to come out swinging in the next debate, telling reporters yesterday that “I’m not going to be as polite” when attacked by his fellow Democrats. If his opponents want to dig into history, well, Biden’s totally up for that too, starting with Kamala Harris:

“I’m not going to be as polite this time,” Biden told supporters at a fundraiser in Detroit on Wednesday evening, according to a pool report. “Because this is the same person who asked me to come to California and nominate her in her convention.”

The former vice president hinted that he would cash in on his warning from earlier in July that he has “all this information about other people’s pasts.”

“If they want to argue about the past, I can do that,” Biden said at the fundraiser. “I got a past I’m proud of. They got a past that’s not quite so good.”

Harris isn’t the only one who’ll be seeing Biden’s evil campaign twin on stage. After Cory Booker attacked him for “mass incarceration” following the 1994 Crime Bill, Biden reminded audiences of Booker’s record as mayor in Newark. Policing got so harsh on minority communities, Biden noted, that the Obama administration had to take control of it:

On Wednesday, asked by NAACP panel moderator April Ryan if his views have evolved, Biden said the focus of criminal justice needed to shift from “incarceration to rehabilitation” — a solution that Booker, speaking to reporters after his earlier NAACP appearance, called “inadequate.” He described Biden as “an architect of mass incarceration.”

After Biden left the stage, he responded emphatically to Booker’s second day of criticism by trying to turn attention to his tenure as mayor of the troubled city of Newark, before he became a senator.

“Cory knows that’s not true, number one. Number two, you know the significant portion of the incarceration that occurred before the crime bill was written,” Biden told reporters before taking a shot at police practices during Booker’s tenure.

“His police department was stopping and frisking people, mostly African American men,” he said, leading the Obama administration to intercede. “We took action against them; the Justice Department took action against them, held the police department accountable.

“He objected to federal interference. If he wants to go back and talk about records, I’m happy to do that. But I’d rather talk about the future . . . I challenge him or anyone else to tell me how he has a better plan than I have for moving from here.”

So much for the rise-above-it strategy. But is it too early to abandon that as the smart way to protect his lead? After all, while RCP’s polling aggregation does show a decline in Biden’s polling, he’s still way out in front:

Westlake Legal Group rcp-07-19 Popcorn time: No more Mr. Nice Biden? The Blog racism kamala harris Joe Biden Cory Booker 2020 Democrat debates

Biden’s nearly rebounded to his pre-announcement level of support even after the debate took some of the wind out of his sails. That still leaves him nearly 15 points ahead of a three-candidate knot consisting of Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and Harris, whose fortunes have also begun sliding a bit since her debate bump. How much sense does it make to fight Harris on her terms, let alone Booker, whose current RCP aggregate is 1.6%?

Of course, Donald Trump has rewritten conventional political wisdom about punching down, but Biden’s no Donald Trump. His advantage in 2020 is posing as the Democrats’ eminence grise, the man who can unite everyone and return America to normalcy after its populist convulsions of the past four years. Getting into a fight over whether he or Booker is the biggest racist may be lots and lots of fun for Republicans, but it’s not going to do much for the kind of brand that Biden would need in a general election.

Dear Bette Midler: Black People Don’t Need You To Tell Us How To Think

Dear Divine Ms. M:

I noticed your tweet mocking the Black men sitting in the audience behind Trump at a rally. I follow you on Twitter and I see your constant rage-tweeting and mostly it amuses me. However, this time I think you’ve gone too far…at least for my taste.

You see, one of the biggest stereotypes Black people must face in this country is that we all look alike, live alike, sound alike and think alike. For decades great Black actors and actresses in your own business have fought and scratched for fair representation in film and television. Tired of only being cast to do roles that boiled down to either “The Magic Negro” or “Thug #3”, those men and women made a case to Hollywood that the Black experience was much more diverse than the studios were allowing for. They made the case that they are just regular people like everyone else, and should be seen on film for what they can offer as an artist not as a Black person.

We have fought against the dangerous stereotypes that make police interactions so tense and give us pause when we shop at fancy stores or walk around our affluent neighborhoods.

Mostly, Black men and women across the years have fought to be seen as individuals instead of a monolith – slaves, poor people, ghettofied, thugged out…pick your label. For most of this country’s history it has been a daily struggle to be able to be looked at as a person instead of a label.

Marianne Williamson was recently in hot water for video of a campaign event where she asked the White people in the audience to find the nearest black person and apologize to the for slavery. It was truly the most cringe-tastic I’ve seen in a while. I can think of few things more humiliating than being singled out for how you look and then surrounded by strangers trying to touch you.

This is part of why I left the liberal Left long ago, and why I can’t really bring myself to be a Democrat ever again no matter what the GOP is or is not offering.

Having come from the liberal Left myself, I can understand that you’ve been inundated so long with a false narrative of what most conservatives believe that you think anyone who supports the GOP or Donald Trump must be crazy. I get that.

But when you looked at those men standing behind Trump, you didn’t even consider that they might actually have their own stories, their own lives and their own experiences that led them there. It didn’t occur to you that these were real people who laugh and love and bleed when you cut them. To you they were just…BLACK.

The reason you were so shocked to see those BLACK men standing there was because you have your own stereotypes about who Black people are, where we should live and how we should think . You have a box for those BLACK men and they stepped out of it.

Sounds pretty racist to me.

We are more than pawns in a political game that no one ever wins. We are mothers and fathers, sons and daughters. The Black American experience ranges from the ghetto to the mansions of Beverly Hills, the coasts to the midwest, the inner city to the suburbs. There is an entire generation of Black children in this country who have grown up in wealth and affluence. No longer is the “Black experience” relegated to the ‘hood. We have spread out.

Maybe you haven’t quite accepted that yet.

Many of us are Democrats, but still many others feel used by Democrats and wealthy White women like yourself – used as shields against racism so you can spew your ignorance or prejudice while saying, “Look, I have Black friends. I’m liberal. I’m the good guy!”. We sometimes feel used as game pieces, moved around the board every election cycle and then put back in the box to be ignored for another 2-4 years.

We have ideas. We have thoughts, and sometimes we think outside that box you’ve been keeping us in.

You could have asked why those men support the GOP. You could have exhibited a modicum of curiosity. You could have at least pretended for a moment that those BLACK men were simply men and you could have treated them accordingly.

Instead  you singled them out, judged them for their race and condemned them for not acting the way you think they should act.

Isn’t that what a White supremacist does?

Just days after sinking to new lows with a despicable slut-shaming tweet about former Sen. Al Franken’s #MeToo accuser Leeann Tweeden, unhinged Trump Derangement Syndrome sufferer Bette Midler is at it again.

Midler’s latest target is black Trump supporters. Apparently in her warped mind, the only way a black person can show support for Trump is if they are paid to do it:

Other Hollywood celebrities weighed in and absolutely blasted her for it:

Macdonald, by the way, also slammed Midler for her tweet about Tweeden:

Middler’s insulting and, frankly, unAmerican insinuation that black voters should by default be toeing the liberal line is reminiscent of Democratic Squad member Rep. Ayanna Pressley’s Netroots Nation call to arms from earlier this month where she said this to the liberal audience:

Pressley’s rant inspired North Carolina Trump supporter Shemeka Michelle to post her own video asking if her black voice met with Pressley’s approval.

Michelle issued a video response to Midler’s tweet Thursday afternoon and WENT. OFF:

You go, girl.

Ga. State Rep. Erica Thomas (D) in a screen grab from a Publix video taken 7/19/19. Via 11 Alive

A video of the confrontation between Georgia resident and Cuban-American Democrat Eric Sparkes and Georgia State Rep. Erica Thomas (D) inside a Publix grocery store was released Wednesday, providing more details in a case that has stoked racial divisions over allegations by Thomas that Sparkes told her to “go back to where she came from.”

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports:

A Publix surveillance video of the incident released Wednesday showed a confrontation that lasted roughly 45 seconds. It did not include audio, so it provided no conclusive evidence of what was said, but it showed Sparkes walk up to Thomas as she was checking out in the express lane and apparently point to the sign.

He quickly retreated as Thomas responded and took a step in his direction. She then followed him a few more steps as he walked away, pointing a finger at him.

The officer who reviewed the tape wrote that Sparkes “did not appear to be irate” or to have approached her with “clenched fists,” as Thomas asserted to the officer. He also wrote that Thomas’ 9-year-old daughter was seen “smiling shortly after.”

Watch video of the incident below:

While indeed there is no audio on the videotape, at least one witness told police that it was Thomas who told Sparkes to “go back to where you came from” multiple times. That same witness said they did not hear Sparkes say that to Thomas.

Another Publix employee said he heard Sparkes call Thomas the “b” word but did not hear him say “go back to where you came from.”

I rewatched the Facebook Live Thomas did on Friday an hour before she filed a police report. She said *multiple times* on the video that Sparkes told her to “go back to where you came from.” On Saturday, she backtracked:

In her Facebook video, she also said her daughter was crying during the incident and asking why Sparkes was saying those things. But in the Publix video released Wednesday, not once did you see Thomas, who is 9 months pregnant and was wearing a Planned Parenthood t-shirt, turn to speak to her daughter about what was happening, even after Sparkes had left the store and she went back to finish checking out.

Thomas did, however, pull her daughter into her Facebook live video about halfway through to say she felt “sad” about what happened and that she had wanted to do something about it but couldn’t because she knew she’d “get in trouble.”

In her Facebook video, Thomas indicated she was in fear for her life and didn’t know what to do. She said on Twitter that her husband wasn’t around to defend her because he was in the military and was deployed.

But in the Publix video, it’s very clear that she was not in fear for her life and took control of the situation very quickly after Eric Sparkes approached her (not with his hands “clenched” as she originally asserted) and pointed to the sign about 10 items in the express lane. In fact, she practically chased him out of the store.

In her Facebook video, she complained towards the end about the fact that no one stepped in to help her in spite of the fact that several people including two Publix employees were standing nearby. After watching the Publix video, it’s clear that she didn’t need anyone to intervene, that she aggressively went after Sparkes and kept pointing at the door for him to leave. At one point during the video you can see a store manager ushering Sparkes out. If I was a customer standing nearby, I would not have intervened, either. It looked like she was about to lunge for him.

As I wrote yesterday, Sparkes should never have walked over to her and confronted her about the express lane issue. Things like that you just need to let go. But he did. But just because he wanted to play express lane monitor was no excuse for her to embellish the situation the way she did and give a portrayal of how things happened that is at odds with what the actual video shows.

Also, during the Facebook live video, Thomas compared her situation to the “send [Rep. Ilhan Omar] back” chants that started during a Trump rally in North Carolina last week. Ironically, the man she says was mimicking those chants actually condemned the chants and Trump’s controversial tweets about the Squad on Facebook last week:

After watching the video and reading the police reports, it’s clear why the Cobb County PD decided not to file any charges. It’s also even more understandable now why Eric Sparkes is considering filing a defamation lawsuit against Thomas.

Thomas has a right to shop in peace. She also has a right to defend herself if confronted. She does not, however, have the right to defame another person by saying things that are at odds with how the situation actually played out.

Ga. State Rep. Erica Thomas (D) and Georgia resident Eric Sparkes (D). Screen grab via WSB-TV.

The case involving Georgia State Rep. Erica Thomas (D) and Georgia resident Eric Sparkes (D) took an interesting twist on Tuesday when it was revealed that at least one of the Publix witnesses told police that they heard Thomas, and not Sparkes, repeatedly yell “go back to where you came from.”

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports:

A witness to a heated grocery store encounter between state Rep. Erica Thomas and a man she accused of uttering racist comments told authorities she didn’t hear him make those remarks, according to a Cobb County police report.

A Publix employee told a Cobb County officer that she witnessed part of the conversation and heard Thomas “continuously tell Eric Sparkes to ‘Go back where you came from!’” but did not hear Sparkes utter those words to Thomas.

In a report written by a police officer who reviewed the video, it was noted that Sparkes “did not appear to be irate” when he approached Thomas about the issue he had with her using the express lane, which is contra to Thomas’s claim that he came towards her aggressively with his fists clenched:

He wrote that Sparkes “did not appear to be irate” during the confrontation and that he quickly retreated from Thomas as she moved his way “pointing her finger at him.” When she moved toward Sparkes a second time, a Publix staffer waved for him to leave and Thomas turned to her daughter and paid for her items, he wrote. The dispute lasted about 45 seconds.

Two more witnesses who are Publix employees told police what they saw and heard:

The Publix employee, a customer service manager, told police that after Sparkes accosted Thomas he began to leave but “Ms. Thomas kept ‘running her mouth’ as she approached him.” Sparkes, she said, responded by repeatedly calling Thomas “ignorant.”

The employee told the officer that she did not hear either of them use profanity.

Another Publix staffer, Derrick Tompkins, told police he heard Sparkes call Thomas an expletive. Tompkins told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution he didn’t hear him tell her to “go back” to where she came from. “I’m not going to say that wasn’t said, but I don’t remember hearing it,” he said in an interview. “I’m going to leave it at that.”

Thomas’s attorney Gerald Griggs posted “the full police report” to his Twitter feed and said it backs up the claims Thomas made on her Facebook live. Please make sure to read the report in full:

Here’s Thomas’s Facebook live video:

Here are some key points to consider: On Saturday, the day after her Facebook live video, she backtracked on saying that Sparkes told her to “go back to where you came from.” She denied backtracking on anything in her Monday presser, but the videos tell a different story:

Remember that Thomas’s racism claims about Sparkes are what caused this story to blow up to begin with. If it’s no longer about racism but instead a man confronting a woman at an express lane, it’s still not a good scenario but as I said yesterday it’s a serious climb-down from her insinuation that Sparkes was motivated by the Trump rally where some attendees chanted “send her back” in reference to Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).

Here’s what Thomas has said that does check out. She said that Sparkes left the store but then returned and approached her at the express lane. That’s true, according to the police report:

The second video clip I observed showed Mr. Sparkes walk to the first set of exit doors where he stopped and began speaking with Ms. Murrell [a store manager] who was standing at the exit. The video does not have audio, so what was said is unknown. After speaking with Ms. Murrell he then departs the inner doors and leaves the frame of the video. A few seconds later, Mr. Sparkes returns through the door and goes straight to the express lane where Ms. Thomas and her daughter were checking out.

So it’s clear from this report that Sparkes initiated the confrontation, although it’s not clear if he meant to be “confrontational.” Either way, no matter how irate you get over someone using an express lane to get checked out for more items than what the lane’s limit is, you just have to let that go. Pick and choose your battles. This is not a battle you choose. You simply walk away.

Sparkes admitted that he did call Thomas “a lazy, ignorant b****”, which Thomas said in the video. Thomas has said that in response to Sparkes’s alleged comments to her about “going back’ that she in turn told him to “go back” but she did not say she told him to “go back to where you came from.”

Because there is no audio police don’t know exactly what was said first and what the tone of voice was when it was said, and can only rely on witness testimony. But the police report makes it appear as though Thomas quickly gained control of the situation and repeatedly berated Sparkes as he was trying to back away, contra to the insinuation she made in the video that she was so off guard that she didn’t know what to say.

Also, Sparkes’s Facebook page has posts decrying Trump’s “go back to your country” tweets, so why would he say “go back to where you came from” to Thomas? As I speculated a couple of days ago, he probably told her to “go back” to a regular check out lane and that’s where the fuss began, and then she made the comment on her Facebook live about “go back to where you came from” that she backtracked on the next day.

There’s also this interesting tidbit of info. If the experience was as traumatic as she claimed it was, why post a Facebook live before you filed a report with the police?

On Tuesday, the Cobb County PD announced they would not be filing any criminal charges. Sparkes said Monday he is considering filing a defamation lawsuit against Thomas.

Democratic Clash: Black Lives Matter Moves Into Indiana to Take Down Gay Presidential Candidate Pete Buttigieg

Liberal group #1 vs liberal group #2…Ready, GO!

What happens when Black Lives Matters faces down America’s first openly gay presidential candidate?

We’re about to find out: A couple of BLM leaders have set up camp in Indiana to oppose South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg.

Last Wednesday, a meeting was held in Pete’s town headlined by BLM LA’s Dr. Melina Abdulla.

The restaurant get-together was attended by relatives of Eric Logan, the 54-year-old black man who was shot and killed by a white cop in mid-June — while Pete B. was out campaigning as part of his crack at the 2020 Democratic nomination.

Quickly after the incident, Pete flew home for a town hall of sorts. But holy cow that didn’t go well (here and here).

Also present Wednesday: former union organizer Greg Akili, who was mentored by labor leader and activist Cesar Chavez.

Melina told the crowd of about 75 it’s time to rumble:

“What we saw with the murder of Eric Logan at the hands of police really is an opportunity to revisit and re-engage around the questions of police violence in black communities.”

Attendees were ready to mobilize against Mayor Buttigieg.

The effort’s also set to benefit from a new local group founded by Jorden Giger: BlackTavists.

Jorden described the purpose of the meeting to the Sount Bend Tribune:

“This was about getting everybody in a room and empowering each other and moving forward.”

So what was the situation surrounding the cop shooting? In part, this, from the Tribune:

Sgt. Ryan O’Neill shot Logan after responding to reports of car break-ins. Authorities have said Logan approached O’Neill with a fixed-blade knife and ignored repeated orders to drop it. The knife had been taken from a car in the area, authorities have said.

O’Neill, who resigned from the force this week, did not have his body camera turned on at the time of the shooting.

And, as reported by Huffpost:

A police sergeant who shot and killed a black man in South Bend, Indiana, over the weekend faced internal allegations of racist and derogatory comments, according to court documents obtained by HuffPost.

On July 13th, BlackTavists attended a Black Lives Matter rally, at which they issued a list of demands for Mayor Pete, which included him paying reparations to Eric Logan’s family, firing or demoting the town’s police chief, and — at the time — firing Sgt. O’Neill.

As per The Daily Wire, Pete’s in the hotseat. Having temporarily suspended his presidential bid following the shooting, he’s got no clout among black voters:

The Indianapolis Star reports that recent polling shows Buttigieg “at near zero percent with African American voters,” adding, he “kept hearing smatterings of ‘Black Lives Matter’” during an appearance at the Young Democrats of America Convention last Thursday night.

He’s trying to reverse the tide. Just days ago, he made what, in my view, appeared as a really, really pitiful and desperate political Hail Mary:

While campaigning in Iowa over the weekend, Buttigieg told ABC News that white supremacy “could be the lurking issue that ends this country.

So who ya got?! It’s like a transgender man coming up against a daughter of the Obamas. Who will the Left favor?

I’m putting my money on Black Lives Matter. But I could be wrong.
