On Tuesday’s The View, Meghan McCain got heated over a widely-shared video of a Trump administration attorney Sarah Fabian claiming the government was not “required” to provide particular toiletries and supplies to detained illegal immigrants at the border.

Check it out:

This meant, to Sunny Hostin, that the White House “doesn’t care” about the children.

Joy Behar asserted that it was a case of downright racism — after all, she suggested, it would never be done if the illegals were from Norway.

Sunny punctuated, “No.”

Is it possible for Democrats on television to have a discussion about politics without accusing the other side of racism? Hold for an answer.

In the meantime:

Don’t count out Meghan McCain from any conversation on the poor conditions of holding facilities. She agreed with the panel’s castigation of the situation as “horrific,” but:

“Calling these places torture facilities. I understand it’s a humanitarian crisis. It’s horrific to detain — like you said, people in jail get soap and…toothpaste.”

She was startin’ to get crunk:

“But I know what a torture facility looks like. I’ve been to one. I know —”

Joy interrupted, “But this is –”

Here is, it seems to me, excellent advice when debating any issue with Meghan McCain, whether it be politics or who’s gonna drive on your expedition to Walmart: Don’t interrupt that chick. She’s got firehere, here, and here.

And here:

Listen to me. Excuse me. When you have a facility whose specific purpose is to torture people, that is not what’s going on. Yes, it’s inhumane but there’s a big difference between a Hanoi Hilton and —”

Sunny boldly bounced in:

“We should be less concerned about what we’re calling them and what goes on inside of them. I don’t care what we’re calling them. Kids are dying inside of them. We should care about the dead kids that have come out of them.”

Aaand Meghan snatches back the conch shell:

“Well, my father couldn’t lift me above his head as a child because of his torture wounds so I do think that hyperbole is important,” McCain concluded, referencing the permanent physical damage done to the late Republican Arizona Sen. John McCain as the result of torture following his capture during the Vietnam War.”

Don’t interrupt Meghan McCain. And never, ever call them torture facilities.

But if you’re Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, you can just call ’em something radical and then say it was Liz Cheney (here and here).

WATCH: “The View” Hostess Sunny Hostin Claims Jesus Would Attend a Gay Pride Parade

People on the left sure do like to promote the idea that Jesus would back causes that are specifically frowned upon in the Bible. Alyssa Milano tried to convince Christians that God is cool with abortion, and now we have “The View” hostess Sunny Hostin trying to tell us that Jesus would attend a gay pride parade.

On Monday, “The View” was celebrating pride month when the conversation fell on a tweet from Catholic Bishop Thomas Tobin of Rhode Island, who dissuaded his fellow Catholics from taking part in the festivities, as it’s against Catholic doctrines and his harmful toward children.

“A reminder that Catholics should not support or attend LGBTQ “Pride Month” events held in June. They promote a culture and encourage activities that are contrary to Catholic faith and morals. They are especially harmful for children,” tweeted Tobin.

Hostin has a serious hot take on Tobin’s tweet.

“I’m so glad you brought that up because I was on Twitter this weekend and I read this tweet by the Bishop Tobin who is a Catholic bishop,” Hostin said. “And he comes out, and he says that he wants to remind all Catholics not to support or engage in any pride, participate in any pride, parades or anything supporting the LGBTQ community because it’s against Christian values and it is harmful to children.”

“And I tweeted out that my Catholic children will be attending pride events as this Catholic will,” Hostin said to applause. ” And you know, my faith always taught me what would Jesus do? And I know Jesus would be attending that pride parade, with pride.”

Hostin then attempted to justify her position by bringing up the sexual abuse of children within the church.

“And I also know that God is love, Jesus is love, love is love,” Hostin continued. “For a Catholic bishop to come out and say something like that given the history of pedophilia in the Catholic church, given what the Catholic church has hidden about the abuse of children, some would say that being at a pride parade would be much safer for a child than it has been to be in a Catholic church for many years.”

Hostin is absolutely wrong, according to the Catechism of the Catholic Church as reported by the Daily Wire. It does call homosexuality a sin, but also tells Catholics that homosexuals must be treated with kindness and respec:

Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that “homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.” They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

In effect, Hostin is creating her own take on Catholicism, as well as her own take on Jesus. If Jesus did show up to a gay pride parade, it wouldn’t be to promote the LGBT causes. Hey might show up, but it wouldn’t be with “pride,” at least not in the engagement and promotion of homosexuality.

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden speaks on ABC’s The View – 4/26/19.

Freshly-minted candidate for president Joe Biden appeared today on a segment of ABC‘s “The View” to discuss his run for president, why he decided to throw his hat into the ring, and to address some of the issues that have been brought up about his political history.

As is standard for most Democrats who appear on the show, the segment with Biden was mostly friendly. But several of the co-hosts including Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin tried to push Biden to say he was sorry for his #MeToo moments as well as for how he treated Anita Hill during the Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings.

It didn’t go so well:

But Biden refused to apologize. In a long, rambling answer [to co-host Sunny Hostin], he began with: “Look, here’s the deal, I have to be and everybody has to be, much more aware of the private space of men and women…I’m much more cognizant of that.”

He went on to claim that many people have expressed they appreciated his touchiness. But Hostin pressed again.“They have said that but they have also said they’d like an apology,” she urged. Clearly frustrated, he struggled to find the right words, finally saying he was “really sorry that they, what I did in talking to them, trying to console, that in fact, they took it a different way.”

Watch the segment below:

On the Anita Hill issue, Newsbusters also noted that co-host Joy Behar was pleading for Biden to apologize so that they could “clean this up” and move on:

“So here’s your opportunity right now to just say, apologize, say you’re sorry. I think we can clean this up, right now!” Behar begged. But Biden again insisted he had apologized already and shrugged off any responsibility. “I’m sorry she was treated the way she was treated. I wish we could have figure out a better way to get this done,” he stated, before trying to spin the situation in a positive way, saying she inspired the #MeToo movement and the Violence Against Women Act.

But Behar was determined to get Biden in the clear with the Democrats. She practically wrote his apology for him, urging, “You know what I think she wants you to say, is ‘I’m sorry for the way I treated you.’ Not for the way you were treated. I think that would be closer,” she pleaded him to try again.

But again, he wouldn’t. Watch the segment below:

I think it’s important to note that in spite of the fact that Biden was grilled during these segments, it wasn’t done out of a desire to “expose” anything nefarious about him (unlike how it would be if a Republican was sitting in that hot seat). The purpose in Behar’s and Hostin’s determination to get him to apologize was to make him appear more attractive to Democratic, middle of the road, and women voters by getting him to act properly contrite.

Plus, he’ll get these questions during the Democratic debates, so they helped him a little with debate prep as well.

If he answers these questions during the debate in the same way, watch for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY-14) Justice Dems to pounce and seize on Biden’s remarks. They’re on record as not supporting his primary run, and they are going to pull out all the stops to defeat him in favor of a more socialistic candidate like Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT):

Stay tuned.

The “he” in the headline is not a reference to Trump, surprisingly enough for this show.

Also surprisingly, this time it’s not McCain vs. Behar. It’s McCain vs. Sunny Hostin, who notes in Assange’s defense that by publishing classified information he’s only guilty of having done what American newspapers have done, most famously in the case of the Pentagon Papers. It’s a crime to leak classified information but it’s not a crime to be the recipient of that leak. If you have a problem with that, Hostin suggests, what you really have is a problem with the First Amendment.

Which leads Meg to explode about “propaganda.”

What she should have said (but probably didn’t know at the time this was recorded, since the indictment had just been released) is that Assange isn’t being charged for receiving or publishing classified information. The feds agree with McCain that Assange committed a crime but they seem to agree with Hostin that he shouldn’t/couldn’t be jailed for accepting classified info from Chelsea Manning. Read the indictment, which is a breezy seven pages. All they’re charging him with is conspiring with Manning to access a computer system without authorization — hacking, in other words, which of course is a crime unambiguously.

And even the hacking charge isn’t a killer. Here’s the first key part:

Westlake Legal Group 1 “I hope he rots in hell!”: Time for more war on “The View” WikiLeaks Trump The Blog Sunny Hostin Podesta Meghan McCain Julian Assange Free Speech First Amendment doj

Later:

Westlake Legal Group 2 “I hope he rots in hell!”: Time for more war on “The View” WikiLeaks Trump The Blog Sunny Hostin Podesta Meghan McCain Julian Assange Free Speech First Amendment doj

Important to note: By March 2010, Manning had already provided hundreds of thousands of documents to Assange. It wasn’t this hacking conspiracy of theirs that led to the disclosure of U.S. state secrets. The conspiracy followed that disclosure. (Although there were also some disclosures after the conspiracy.) And, as noted, it never says that they succeeded in hacking this particular system. Manning gave Assange a partial password, Assange tried to crack it — and failed. I’m unclear on whether Assange was attempting to crack it by trying to log into the system himself or if he was using some other means and was planning to share the cracked password with Manning so that *Manning* could access the system. I’m also not clear on whether the answer would affect Assange’s criminal liability. Presumably not: The whole point of conspiracy statutes is that you can be held responsible for the criminal actions of another which you knowingly helped make possible.

The point, though, is that the feds deliberately sidestepped the thorny First Amendment issues that Hostin and McCain are arguing about in order to charge Assange with a less controversial crime, assisting Manning in her attempt to hack into government systems. The New York Times enjoys constitutional protections for its journalism but it’s not allowed to boot up the Pentagon’s internal portal and start trying out passwords to see if it can log in and start downloading stuff. Neither is Julian Assange.

Now you’re wondering, “Maybe the feds charged him with this first because it was easy to get an indictment for it and are planning to add the more controversial charges after he’s been extradited.” Could be, but former federal prosecutor Ken White urges caution about assuming too much on that point:

It may be that this is the only charge the feds think will (a) stick and (b) not be thrown out on constitutional grounds on appeal. Someone should have told Sunny and Meg before they had this fight.

‘The View’: Buh-Bye to Kirstjen, & the Border’s Fine. What We’ve Gotta Watch Out for is White People

What We’ve Gotta Watch Out for is White People white supremacy Uncategorized The View The Daily Caller Sunny Hostin racism kirstjen nielsen immigration Illegal Immigration Front Page Stories Department of Homeland Security democrats border security Allow Media Exception

Are you a white supremacist? Do you know any white supremacists? Do you know anyone who knows any white supremacists?

According to Sunny Hostin, it seems, surely you must.

On Sunday, amid Trump’s continued frustration over illegal border crossings (here), Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen abruptly resigned (I’m not too unhappy about it, as it’s a difficult name for me to type).

Outside her house Monday afternoon, Kirste- I mean, Kristje- I mean, Kirstjen told reporters there’s a “humanitarian crisis” at the border. She also said this:

“I don’t have any new announcements. I just want to thank the President again for the tremendous opportunity to serve this country. I’m forever grateful and proud of the men and women of DHS who work so hard every day to execute their missions and support the homeland. As you know, DHS has a vast array of missions. I want to make sure that we execute them all with excellence through the transition. I share the president’s goal of securing the border.”

On ABC’s The View Monday, the conversation turned to secretary’s departure.

Co-host Sunny Hostin eschewed the issue of illegal immigration for something wholly different:

“I believe she sold her soul. She became the face of separating babies from their parents. It’s going to take two years to find out the true extent of this horror. Thousands were separated from their families.”

To be clear, family separation wasn’t the product of Kirstjen or Trump; it was the edict of the left-wing 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, with a history dating back to Clinton’s presidency and the legislation of a Democrat-controlled Congress (see herehere, and here).

Despite 4,000 arrests being made at the border in one day alone (here), Sunny claimed the border issue is small potatoes — what we really need to be focused on is fighting the white supremacy epidemic:

“FBI director Christopher Wray testified that homegrown white is supremacists are the worst threat to our country. President Trump keeps saying these people from Mexico, from Nicaragua, are the biggest threats. They’re not. It’s our homegrown white supremacists. … The biggest threats are our own homegrown white supremacists that are threatening our security.”

HUH??

As pointed out by The Daily Caller, what the director actually said, as per CNN, was this:

“The danger, I think, of white supremacists, violent extremism, or another kind of extremism is of course significant. We assess that it is a persistent, pervasive threat.”

How does Sunny draw from that a pressing need trumping border security?

As I’ve asserted previously, some on the Left seem to have no concern for what’s actually happening, only what sounds good to say (here).

We currently have a porous border; and pointing to a different issue doesn’t seal it.

If you want to address a handful of dorks in white hoods, go for it — that’s so absurd, it was previously fodder for Howard Stern and Jerry Springer episodes. But how about at the same time, we still have a country, which is to say, a border? How about we chase away the black cloud of a broken system to the south? That’d be nice. And sunny.
