SJWs are Coming After Toy Story 4 Over a Laundry List of Nonsensical Outrage

Westlake Legal Group e3777a38-2279-4827-b8a5-22c5531f4d21@news.ap_.org_ SJWs are Coming After Toy Story 4 Over a Laundry List of Nonsensical Outrage Toy Story 4 Social Justice Warriors Social Justice representation Popular Culture Politics Movies Hollywood Front Page Stories Feminism Featured Story Entertainment Diversity Allow Media Exception ableism

I went and saw Toy Story 4 over the weekend, and despite it being the fourth entry in a series I thought had found its perfect ending in Toy Story 3, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the movie was actually pretty decent.

To give you a quick spoiler-free breakdown, the movie revolves around self-sacrifice, letting go, and never giving up, all with Woody as the main character. All of your favorites return, but don’t expect too much out of them, including Buzz Lightyear. This movie revolves around Woody, his reunion with Bo Peep, and their hapless and hilarious ward, a spork named “Forky.” It’s a heartwarming tale with laugh out loud comedic moments that even had sad moments where I had to tell myself I was a grown man who didn’t need to feel emotions during a kid’s movie.

I swear, Pixar is too good at tugging your heartstrings, and ever since Up, I always go into their movies ready to fight a battle of the feels.

Like all good things that happen, you can definitely expect that the unpleasable among us would be displeased. The social justice warriors have seen the movie too and, as you may have guessed, they’re angry about it.

Stella Duffy of BBC Radio’s Saturday Review program said she’s not pleased about the fact that Toy Story 4 didn’t take the opportunity to give more representation to minorities. She’s also angry about the fact that the movie was “ableist,” and somehow looks down on those with disabilities:

I’m the Grinch who hated it. Seriously, it’s 2019! What on Earth are Disney doing having a film that has no leads that are black characters.

Yes, there are black actors, but they are yellow and they are green and they are plush! How can they possibly think that it’s alright now?

Yeah, maybe in 1995 – which was also wrong then, as well, actually – but now, to be serious, where every single humanoid toy, is white? It’s just shocking!

She also stomped her feet over the display of Bo-Peep, who more or less replaces Buzz Lightyear as the action hero within the film. Duffy’s problem seemed to be that Bo-Peep was white and that she and Woody picked their romance back up. Also, she seemed angry that Bo-Peep can walk?:

Okay, let’s talk about the white feminism on display here. Oh look! Bo-Peep’s a feminist. No she’s not! She’s still going to fall in love, she’s still going to have the happily ever after, that’s not feminism!

It’s a woman who kicks off her skirt to reveal bloomers. Had a couple of thoughts… and does some high wire acts. And it’s disablist! It covers ALL bases! […]

It looks good – but Disney is supposed to LOOK good. There has to be content to the story too!

Unilad, who originally covered the story, said that asking Toy Story 4 to bear the brunt of all that activist messaging may be a bit unfair, but that it gives the listeners of the podcast a reason to pause and think.

No. No, it doesn’t.

This is a kids movie with pre-established characters who have pre-established relationships. Injecting a black toy into the movie just inject a black toy into the movie isn’t a good story, it’s actually forced diversity in a movie, and as has been seen many times, it doesn’t make the movie any better.

What’s more, the story doesn’t revolve around the idea of diversity. That’s not the theme. The fact that every child’s movie has to revolve around some kind of social justice issue today makes the Hollywood press nearly unbearable to read and some movies completely unwatchable.

From a story standpoint, Toy Story 4 ties up a lot of loose ends and potentially starts a lot of new adventures, though I hope they end it here. It introduces the concept of letting go and moving on, which I think is a great cap. If all of the social justice issues and representations that SJWs wanted to be in the movie were present, there would have been no room left for the great story that we were given. It would feel awkward, badly paced, and pointless. It wouldn’t promote diversity, it would only turn people off to it.

But this is another example of why trying to please the social justice crowd is a lost cause. You can’t please unpleasable people. As I covered last year, even the movie Black Panther had SJWs up in arms because there wasn’t enough representation of the gay community.

The social justice warriors and hard-left need to understand that not everything is about them and that artists and creators are under no obligation to see to it that everything they create has some sort of mention about this group or that. A story about a high seas adventure shouldn’t have homosexual relationships between two transgender people of different races shoehorned in there in order to meet the approval of political busybodies.

Besides, they will just find something else to disapprove of anyway.

“A Disgrace”: Dan Crenshaw Provides a Reality Check for Mad Maxine After Her Wild Rant on Trump and Iran

As Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) has shown since elected but especially in recent weeks, he is unafraid to take on the loudest, shrillest voices on the left, no matter the issue.

Last week, it was Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on her “border detention centers=Nazi concentration camps” comparison, and Black Hat for disinviting Rep. Will Hurd (R-TX) from a tech conference over his pro-life views. Over the weekend, it was twice-failed Democratic candidate for president Hillary Clinton – who tried to blame the border crisis on Republicans.

Also over the weekend, the freshman Congressman took issue with comments from longtime Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), who went on a wild Twitter rant regarding President Trump and possible war with Iran:

Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., drew fire from Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, on Twitter for accusing President Trump of provoking a conflict with Iran.

The U.S. military’s Central Command released a video earlier this month showing Iranian forces removing an unexploded mine from one of the two ships that were attacked near the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has denied any involvement in the conflict.

Trump called off a military strike against Tehran after they shot down an American drone they claimed was in Iranian airspace. It was valued at over $100 million. Iran has since claimed they have the capability to continue shooting down American drones if necessary.

Waters said Trump didn’t deserve credit for showing restraint and questioned the nature of America’s surveillance of Iran.

In particular, Crenshaw took issue with this tweet from Waters:

In response, he blasted the Congresswoman:

Red State‘s Jennifer Van Laar documented Waters’s tweets last night and explained how her rant was wildly off the mark for a number of reasons, but commenting on an issue without the facts has never stopped Mad Maxine before.

CNN Quickly Goes to Commercial as Trump’s Rape Accuser Claims People Like Rape

Westlake Legal Group Untitled-1-5-620x357 CNN Quickly Goes to Commercial as Trump’s Rape Accuser Claims People Like Rape Sexual Assault rape accusation Rape Politics New York Front Page Stories Featured Story E. Jean Carroll donald trump CNN Anderson Cooper Allow Media Exception

President Donald Trump’s rape accuser E. Jean Carroll has made headlines recently by claiming the President raped her decades ago in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room in New York City. The mainstream media was only too happy to jump on the story as quickly as possible to find its new narrative for impeaching Trump and did it so quickly that they forgot to check on a few things.

Like, for instance, whether or not the person making the claim wasn’t a complete basketcase.

Carroll was being interviewed by Anderson Cooper on Monday Cooper brought up the fact that Carroll doesn’t feel like a victim, and told the CNN host that she was not “thrown on the ground and ravished.”

Carroll then went into oddly talking about how the concept of rape is misunderstood in America.

“The word rape carries so many sexual connotations,” said Carroll. “This was nuts. This was not sexual.”

Cooper interjected that rape was something most people thought of as a violent, sexual assault.

“I think most people will think of rape as being sexy,” said Carroll, who nodded as an awkward silence settled on the two.

“Let’s take a short break,” said Cooper after a moment.

“Think of the fantasies,” added Carroll.

Cooper stuttered as he once again tried to cut to commercial.

“You’re fascinating to talk to,” said Carroll awkwardly nodding at Cooper without breaking eye contact.

It’s possible that Carroll was drunk during this exchange, and a lot of her slurred words and exaggerated actions point to that. However, I watched some of her other interviews and she’s demonstrated the same kind of speech and awkward behavior. Perhaps she was drunk during all of them too. The alternative is that she’s not well and the media is exploiting her.

Regardless, Carroll isn’t the central figure of the controversy in this particular moment, it’s the media who thrust Carroll into the spotlight and pointed as many spotlights as they could on her after her very shaky claim surfaced. Apparently, they learned nothing from the Michael Avenatti debacle, and not enough from the Kavanaugh witch hunt.

One prediction I will make is that Carroll will depart the mainstream’s focus as quickly as she arrived, and the media will move on to the next claimant. With the Russia investigation coming up with nothing after years of desperately hyping up every lead and sensationalizing every detail, the media will try to revert to a tried and true method of discrediting a politician, and that’s with rape or sexual assault claims.

So far, every bit of that dirty water has washed off of Trump’s duck-like back, but if the media is anything, it’s tenacious. It tried again with Carroll, and they’ll try again with someone else.

Unraveled: Website for Knitters and Crocheters Bans All Content Supporting Trump

Everything is political these days, and it’s exhausting. Millions of Americans enjoy knitting and crocheting as hobbies, to provide some relaxation, a way to make cherished gifts for loved ones, or even a little extra income. But if you are a supporter of President Donald Trump, one of the biggest yarn crafting websites wants you to know you’re no longer welcome.

Well, technically, you’re still welcome, but you better keep your mouth shut about Trump.

The website in question, Ravelry, has often had a left-leaning tone — they heavily promoted various patterns for the infamous pink “cat” hats seen at many of the Women’s March protests — but the users had a range of political beliefs all across the partisan spectrum (you know, just like America).

The site includes searchable posts for knitting and crochet patterns, some available for free and some for sale, as well as a forum section where users can post about a variety of topics, some yarn-related and some not. Most of the content is utterly benign and unoffensive to any sane person, focused heavily on discussing patterns, sharing techniques and problem solving difficult patterns, or frivolous topics like this photo thread of users’ pet cats playing with yarn.

I’d like to say I hope we can all agree that kittens playing with yarn are still cute, but I’m not so sure anymore. The current divisive toxicity of our politics is spreading rapidly, and Ravelry’s millions of members are now in the middle of the battlefield.

Over the weekend, Ravelry’s Twitter account (with a bio touting that they are an “inclusive, friendly website for [yarn emoji] people around the [globe emoji]”) posted a link to an announcement on their website stating that supporting Trump was no longer allowed on Ravelry.

The linked announcement clarified that this ban included voicing any support for Trump not just in forum posts, but also in user profiles and in patterns. Posting patterns for those pink hats is fine. A knitted MAGA hat or blanket is not.

The head-scratching explanation provided by the site’s administration was to accuse all Trump supporters as being equivalent to white supremacists:

“We cannot provide a space that is inclusive of all and also allow support for open white supremacy. Support of the Trump administration is undeniably support for white supremacy.”

Trump supporters are still allowed to use the site and participate, they just “can’t talk about [supporting Trump] here.” No one’s pattern designs or data would be deleted, but any of the Trump content that offends the site operators so much would be recategorized as private, invisible to all users except the one who posted it.

This means any Trump supporters who had pro-Trump designs for sale on Ravelry will no longer be able to use the site to sell them, and pro-Trump political activists cannot share designs supporting Trump on the site, even for free, for other supporters to access.

The announcement also mentioned that they had adapted their “No Trump” policy from RPG.net, a website forum dedicated to role-playing games.

Political patterns are by no means anywhere close to a majority of the content on Ravelry, but there have been some on both sides. Here are a few patterns from “Deplorable Knitter,” still available from Instagram posts:

As the new policy was enacted, Deplorable Knitter posted screen caps of complaints about her patterns, and strongly objecting to the accusation she or her patterns were racist:

Deplorable Knitter’s G-rated patterns are no longer welcome on Ravelry. Because simply mentioning Trump or his campaign slogans is an act of hate, according to Ravelry.

Still acceptable, however, is this scarf that displays the message “F*** TRUMP” when read at an angle, a seemingly endless array of genitalia crafted out of yarn (NSFW photos at link), and this whimsical design of two deer getting intimate in the woods, ready to adapt for knitted hats or mittens (images sort of NSFW but probably only if your boss is really strict).

I personally have been knitting and crocheting for years (see cat and blanket below), and have often used Ravelry to find new patterns and research techniques. I’m involved in political issues all day long and am far more likely to be searching or posting about blanket patterns than political topics — I’m knitting as a break from politics, not to do more politics! — but must say I find this policy to be completely ridiculous.

Banning posts that are actually racist is fairly noncontroversial as far as internet forum moderation practices go. But it’s a wild and gross exaggeration to say all Trump supporters are white supremacists. I didn’t vote for him and will not vote for him (much to the constant delight of our RedState commenters) but I know many, many people who voted for Trump as a vote against Hillary Clinton, certainly not to endorse any sort of racism or other prejudicial hatred.

Ravelry overstepped with this broad ban on Trump supporters, and it will be a troubling trend if more sites adopt this kind of policy. Dividing America into segregated political groups across all aspects of life will solve no problems and only make matters worse.

Finding common ground is one of the greatest legacies of this grand American experiment, and we have historically been better than any other nation on earth at taking all sorts of people with all sorts of ideas and all sorts of political beliefs and finding a way to peacefully progress as a nation.

How many other countries — even ones we characterize as first world democracies — still experience violence and unrest when elections remove one political party and put another in power? We’ve had bitterly divided and often painful close presidential elections with about half of the country professing to hate the winner for most of my life — Bush, Clinton, another Bush, Obama, Trump — but each time the winner has shown up in Washington, D.C. to take the oath of office, and his predecessor has left the White House peacefully and without bloodshed. We should all be proud of that.

Banning Trump supporters from Ravelry doesn’t end white supremacy and it doesn’t defeat Donald Trump at the ballot box next November. It just deprives people of the chance to bond over cute knitting projects because their political beliefs barred half of them at the door.

Maxine Waters Willfully Gets Iran/Drone Story Wrong, Blames Trump

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) says some outrageous things (regularly), but her recent tweets at directed President Trump are far more than outrageous.

Tweeting in response (two days later) to news that Trump called off retaliatory strikes against Iran at the last minute, Waters refused to give Trump “credit for so-called stopping the strike against Iran” then asked why the drone was “in Iran’s airspace” and wondered why we would conduct surveillance on Iran.

What?

In addition to the confusing use of the term “so-called” and the ignorance about why we could possibly want to keep an eye on a country that just bombed an oil tanker nearby, Waters publicly endorsed the words of Ayatollah Khameini over the Pentagon and the Commander in Chief by asserting that the drone was in Iranian air space.

Military Times reported on June 20 that Lt. Gen. Joseph Guastella, Commander of U.S. Air Forces Central Command issued a statement disputing Iran’s characterization.

“This attack is an attempt to disrupt our ability to monitor the area following recent threats to international shipping and free flow of commerce. Iranian reports that this aircraft was shot down over Iran are categorically false,” Guatella said. “The aircraft was over the Strait of Hormuz and fell into international waters.”

At the time of the intercept, “the RQ-4 was operating at high-altitude approximately 34 kilometers from the nearest point of land on the Iranian coast,” Guastella said in a statement Thursday. “This dangerous and escalatory attack was irresponsible and occurred in the vicinity of established air corridors between Dubai, UAE, and Muscat Oman, possibly endangering innocent civilians.”

The Pentagon provided reporters a map showing where the drone was shot down and from where the missile that shot it down was launched.

Westlake Legal Group Pentagon-map Maxine Waters Willfully Gets Iran/Drone Story Wrong, Blames Trump Strait or Hormuz Pentagon Maxine Waters Iran Front Page Stories Front Page drone donald trump Allow Media Exception

Waters continued with more lies, tweeting that Trump started a confrontation with Iran and that Trump “unilaterally renege[d]” on the Iran deal – a deal that was never approved by Congress and a deal Trump had no obligation to follow – and claiming that Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu are attempting to start a war.

Most laughably, Waters claims that Iran was in compliance with the JCPOA.

It’s amazing that she has a communications team with the ability to tweet all of that that with (allegedly) a straight face.

And she kept going, saying that by announcing additional sanctions on Iran Trump is “trying to further provoke Iran” so Trump can strike.

The nonsensical logic is totally on brand, but there is no excuse for a member of Congress to knowingly spread lies and propaganda perpetuated by our country’s enemies.

The hot takes we’ve gotten from Democrats in the aftermath of Joe Biden’s praise of his ability to get along with segregationist Senators in the 1970s have been all over the map.

Former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) said in an interview Thursday that Biden’s comments on Democratic Sens. James Eastland (MS) and Herman Talmadge (GA) were not that big a deal in the scheme of things. Why? Because Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Jeff Sessions (R-AL) were “pretty stinky, creepy people themselves” and Democratic Senators like Biden critic Cory Booker (NJ) had to work with them, too, she stated.

Sen. Kamala Harris (CA) ripped Biden’s remarks, suggesting he was “coddling the reputations of segregationists.” On the other hand, civil rights icons and Congressmen John Lewis (D-GA) and James Clyburn (D-SC) both defended Biden, saying they had to work with some pretty bad people back in those days, too.

MSNBC‘s “All In” host Chris Hayes had his own special take on it all in the midst of the controversy, and took to the Twitter machine to wonder out loud:

He followed up with a little bit of “WhatAboutBothism”, perhaps in an attempt to make his initial tweet sound more… measured:

Twitter being Twitter, there was actually a debate between liberals in the comments:

In the end, there was no clear winner in the debate. But there was one casualty: Common sense.

Sometimes in politics, people say things that I can’t believe are falling out of their mouths.

And I think, “Either they don’t have a brain, or they think Americans don’t have brains.” Because no reasonable person would take their comments seriously.

One such person bestowing these moments is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. I’m not suggesting she doesn’t have a brain; I’m just saying I remain mystified.

And there’s a whole lotta myst around her comments Monday concerning the ill-conceived description of America’s “concentration camps” at the southern border.

Last week, AOC stuck up a steel pole during a lightning storm via her Instagram video lamenting President Trump’s “Never-Again”-style “concentration camps” (here, herehere, and here).

Liz Cheney wasn’t impressed, so she tweeted this:

Less than 20 minutes later, Alexandria paddled the ping pong ball back over the net:

Well, the 29-year-old’s now saying that Rep. Cheney is responsible for her words:

Huh??

Here’s an exact quote from Alexandria’s video:

“The United States is running concentration camps on our southern border, and that is exactly what they are — they are concentration camps. And, um, if that doesn’t bother you, I don’t, I don’t know, I like, we can have, okay whatever. I want to talk to the people that are concerned enough with humanity to say that ‘Never Again’ means something. The fact that concentration camps are now an institutionalized practice in the ‘Home of the Free’ is extraordinarily disturbing, and we need to do something about it.”

She said “‘Never Again’ means something.” She didn’t say it doesn’t mean something. Nor did she say, “Liz Cheney is pulling the string on my back and speaking.”

If it “means something,” then what does it mean??

The phrase is an explicit reference to the Holocaust:

Yet, somehow, AOC topped off with this tweet, which included Liz’s post as (non)proof that Cheney said what in actuality she herself did.

It’s as if she’s convinced herself that up is down, and she’s just continuing forward with it.

And now I’m back to that whole brain thing:

On Saturday, tweeter Benny Johnson asked her to “listen, for once”:

As I posted previously, I don’t believe America and its leaders should be compared to Hitler and the Nazis.

Having said that, if you want to call detention centers concentration camps, then okay. It’s absurd, but “I don’t know, I like, we can have, okay whatever.”

But for the love of Pete, don’t say something and then claim Liz Cheney said it.

#FAIL

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) speaks with Chris Wallace – 6/23/19. Screen grab via Fox News.

I’ve got to hand it to House and Senate Republicans – they are not sitting back and taking the left’s punches on the border crisis laying down.

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (TX) isn’t holding back. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA) isn’t backing down, and Rep. Liz Cheney (WY) has been unafraid to school funding denier Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on the issue.

They are just a few of many examples.

The latest example comes from Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR), who appeared on “Fox News Sunday” with Chris Wallace yesterday to discuss the impasse between Democrats and Republicans on illegal immigration and the humanitarian issues that exist at the border.

CNS News reports on Wallace’s question to Cotton, and the Senator’s to-the-point response:

“President Trump has also delayed a roundup that was supposed to begin today of migrant families that have already been given their deportation orders. He said he’s giving Congress two weeks to work out and reform the asylum system, and otherwise, he’ll impose the roundup. I don’t have to tell you. You have a little bit of a look on your face. The likelihood – you talk about healthy skepticism — Congress isn’t going to reform the asylum system in two weeks sir,” host Chris Wallace said.

“So Chris, I was going to say healthy skepticism is warranted for dealing with Democrats when it comes to immigration,” Cotton responded. “Let’s just think about the Democrats position here, Chris. These are people who have claimed asylum in our country. They’ve had their day in court.

“They’ve had their claims rejected, and now they face a valid and final order of removal. If they can’t deport people like that, who can we deport? That’s why the Democrats’ position always comes back to, in essence, open borders,” he said.

Watch video of the segment below:

On Saturday, Cotton made the same point in addressing a tweet from Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who claimed Trump and Republicans were just playing to their base had no plan to deal with the issue:

Not only is Cotton spot-on about the left’s open borders position, he’s also correct in how ICE has specifically been tasked to find and deport the illegal immigrants who have received their final order of removal:

ICE Acting Director Mark Morgan made clear in a call with reporters Wednesday that the ICE raids would target illegal aliens who have ignored court orders to leave the country.

“These individuals that are here, and they’ve received a final order of removal, I hope they’ll do what we tried to get them to do previously: Contact their local ICE office — bring their family together, contact their local ICE office and work with us to send them back to their home country,” Morgan said during the call.

Like Wallace, I’m skeptical Democrats and Republicans are going to be able to come up with a bipartisan solution on this issue in the next two weeks. Time will tell.

The great President Ronald Reagan once said: “I’ve noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born.”

No one exhibits the meaning behind this better than 2020 hopeful Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who recently, and very publicly, celebrated her birthday with Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in America.

In a video, Warren can be seen walking into an office where several women have gathered around. These women sing the standard “Happy Birthday” tune, and once it’s done, Warren gives a small speech.

“What better way to celebrate my birthday than right here with Planned Parenthood,” she said to cheers.

“We celebrate today,” said Warren, giving the “resistance” fist in the air.

She later tweeted that she was proud to do so, and stands with Planned Parenthood in the fight for “reproductive justice.”

Let’s put aside the obvious fact that Warren is pandering here, and very badly. The much more entertaining part of this entire thing is that Warren is celebrating the day of her birth with an organization who is dedicated to making sure children never have a birthday.

Just a quick reminder, Planned Parenthood kills an average of 300,000 children in the womb annually. This will likely go down thanks to the recent laws passed in various states, essentially crippling the abortion provider, but regardless, Planned Parenthood isn’t known for celebrating birthdays, they’re known for preventing them from ever happening. That’s 300,000 birthdays a year that will never be celebrated thanks to that person never getting the chance to grow up.

And here we see Warren talking about how great it is that she gets to celebrate the day she was born with people who don’t allow others that privilege.

Warren either doesn’t see the irony in this or is fully aware of it and hopes you’re stupid enough not to understand it. All she wants you to see is that she and Planned Parenthood are hanging out together and that one of the largest leftist activist hubs in the nation is propping her up as worthy enough to be celebrated.

It’s all a messed up situation when you really break it down.
