Inasmuch as I don’t particularly care for Steven Crowder – I’m not his target audience and my preferred brand of comedy is more sociological than political – I spent the bulk of this week ignoring the issue, other than to silently note that once again the mob dictates the rules, not the companies that supposedly wrote them.

However, there is so much happening in media right now that it all seems to be too much to be coincidence.

Let’s start with Crowder. In a spat with a Vox writer who goes by “GayWonk” on Twitter, Crowder got himself in hot water essentially by playing his foe’s game. The man goes by “GayWonk”, lives by his identity, and uses it to make his points. However, when Crowder plays up the man’s preferred identity (I can certainly see how some would take offense to Crowder’s methods), he gets in trouble for it. The mob moves in and gets YouTube to demonetize his videos, cutting off his revenue from YouTube.

YouTube is justifying the action by condemning Crowder as “hateful” speech, and perhaps the argument could be made. The problem is that YouTube is so inconsistent in applying this standard that you could easily find a dozen channels in minutes who are a hundred times more offensive, but they don’t draw the mob against them like Crowder does.

Meanwhile we have Facebook, as I mentioned yesterday, taking action against TheBlaze for what the social media giant said was “clickbait”. However, that term denotes a story whose headlines blows the actual content out of proportion. The idea is that the headline is meant to make you click on something because it sounds so outrageous, but the actual story is nowhere near as dramatic.

Facebook’s standard seems to focus on half of that, saying that the intent of the headline to make you click is what makes it clickbait. This could not be any more dumb, though, as essentially every headline written in this digital era is meant to do exactly that. Again, it is a poorly-enforce policy that, strangely enough, targets a conservative outlet.

Over at a more traditional outlet, CNN announced this week that it has hired Daniel Dale to be a fact checker for its political coverage. While you may not know who Dale is, a brief scan of his timeline since President Donald Trump took office will reveal that he is absolutely silent when it comes to “fact checking” specious Democratic claims while he is more of a well-actuallyer than a fact-checker when it comes to Republicans.

These three stories have a lot to do with each other. They form a pattern that has been growing more and more obvious for a while now: The mob, which typically leans in one particular political direction, has a greater say over policy and enforcement than the actual companies that write the barely-literate and rarely-enforced policies to begin with.

For YouTube and Facebook, theirs is a response to an outraged mob hellbent on proving they are right and everyone who disagrees with them is wrong. The Bulwark, in classic Bulwark style, seems to be fine with this, as a piece devoted to declaring the right and conservative thing to do is to condemn Crowder as a homophobe and bigot.

But, the writer of that piece, much like the mob in general, fails to understand that this isn’t about Crowder, TheBlaze, or any other conservative (and in their eyes, therefore, controversial) icon. Yes it is absolutely true that Facebook and YouTube, like Twitter and other social/digital media sites, are privately owned and therefore aren’t constitutionally obligated to allow all speech. But it is also important to note that allowing mobs to dictate how you run your business is a bad idea, because you do have a certain level of obligation to consistency in the market. Inconsistency breeds distrust and ultimately kills businesses. Allowing the mob to dictate what you should or should not do is not only bad for business, it’s just pure laziness.

CNN’s hire, meanwhile, may seem like it is unrelated to the issue at hand here, but in all actuality, it is yet another indicator that these media sites, rather than enforcing what they already say are the rules, are simply getting lazy.

The very act of journalism is “fact-checking.” Editors exist to fix grammatical mistakes and make sure your facts are factual and your opinion is separate. Fact-checkers, as they now exist, are used to inject opinion into scenarios in order to justify calling something “true” or “false”. Where facts are simply true or false, fact-checkers bring “if A, then B” analyzes into the equation to dilute the original point of the politician or political speaker and make it something that can be argued.

It is the diluting that makes all of this so chaotic in the long run. YouTube and Facebook have rules about “offensive speech” and “clickbait”, but those rules are so diluted by inconsistency and political bias that they only act on them when a mob gets loud enough. CNN has rules about accuracy in reporting and making sure the facts are in line, but those facts are diluted by fact-checkers with political agendas who want to obfuscate the truth just enough to get away with altering what the truth actually is.

The result is the insanity we see in our politics on a daily basis. The people who have caused this chaos – a vocal minority, a mob that is only as effective as it is loud, and it is very loud – will learn no lesson if this is ever turned around on them. After all, who would turn this around on them? These mobs are all leftists and the places that listen to them favor them anyway.

One thing they won’t realize until it’s too late, though, is that they’ll be running off their sources of income.

That is to say, you and I.

WATCH: Antifa Member Tries to Imprison Republican Students In a Room and Regrets It

A member of Antifa attempted to lock Republican students in a room while they were listening to a speaker but failed so spectacularly that he wound up in handcuffs himself.

According to KTTH the UW College Republicans were meeting in Thompson Hall to watch a guest speaker from YouTube channel Operation Cold Front. Emerald City Antifa apparently got wind of the event and decided it would try to take action with a call from its Facebook page.

Just a reminder to people at the UW that the Operation Cold Front crew (who you might remember from such antics as “It’s ok to be White” signs, transphobic harassment of students, posing as Black Lives Matter to ask for reparations, harassing people outside an abortion clinic, and more) will be having a speaking engagement at the UW June 3rd at 6pm in Thomson Hall rm 101. There’s space for 100 or so people, but for those who show up, some useful tactics might to sit in using large items that take up additional seats, maybe with headphones in so you don’t have to hear their garbage, or noise demo tactics such as whistles to make it difficult for them to speak over.

They have recently put out some very ugly, transphobic material and were harrassing queer students at Evergreen, and we hope that we can take some time out this Pride Month to have our queer siblings backs, and not allow these assholes to have a platform.

These people are Proud Boy chuds, and Proud Boy chud supporters, they have been caught on video yelling “yt power!” while harassing womxn, and have a history of harassing womxn (including one of the co-hosts who is an accused rapist). These people belong to the Him Too movement, an anti-MeToo, misogynist, homophobic, transphobic, “traditionalist” Men’s Rights trash fire. They should not be on campus bothering students.

So, if you’re able, show up to deplatform.

Apparently, the call went unanswered for the most part. The event went by pretty quietly with the speaker being uninterrupted. Near the end, however, one of the Republican students saw a man in black approach the door.

“I saw a guy in black approach the door but there had been no protest outside or anything so antifa wasn’t necessarily on my radar,” UWCR member Zach Wildfang told The Jason Rantz Show on KTTH. “He crouched down and immediately slapped his chain around the door.”

The chain made a racket as the Antifa member tried to wrap it around the handle and lock the Republicans inside.

“We heard the rattling from inside,” said UWCR president Chevy Swanson. “We looked to see through the window and see that someone was messing with the door. And it’s very clearly a chain being attached. So personally I ran up to the door and opened it on him, the chain fell to the ground, and he ran off, which is good because I much prefer not to be chained in a room with 30 other people indefinitely.”

As this happened a video camera was rolling. The moment the door is opened and the chain dropped, the college Republicans took off after the Antifa member who had fled the moment his plan failed.

The footage begins around the 50-minute mark.

“One of the other attendees of the event caught up to him and called the police and the police end up coming and arresting him,” said Swanson.

According to KTTH, the Antifa member was identified as 18-year-old Ezra Benner, who had reportedly shown up to previous Republican events but had never been disruptive.

A store manager for a Kay Jewelers in Statesville, North Carolina is looking for work after a sheriff’s deputy says he was refused service because he was armed.

In a Facebook post published Wednesday, the Iredell County Sheriff’s office wrote that a uniformed deputy went to the store on his lunch break to pick up an engagement ring. That’s when things turned weird:

A uniformed deputy, while on his lunch break, was notified the engagement ring he had purchased for his upcoming wedding proposal, had been sized and was ready for him to pick up at Kay Jewelers located on Turnersburg Highway in Statesville.

The deputy took his meal break to pick up the ring, and was met at the door by the store manager, who informed him he was not allowed to wear his service weapon while on their premises.

The deputy informed the manager he was in uniform and his marked patrol car was in the parking lot, and it would be a violation of policy for him to remove his service weapon while in uniform.

The sheriff’s office went on to note that that policy was in place for a reason:

This policy is in place for not only the safety of the deputy, but the general public as well. The manager stated our deputy would need to return to the store at a different time when he was not armed. The deputy left the store, without the ring he had purchased.

The Iredell County Sheriffs Office, along with Sheriff Darren Campbell, are deeply saddened at a situation involving a…

As a result of this incident, Kay Jewelers has issued a statement indicating that the manager is no longer employed by the store:

Sheriff Darren Campbell told WBTV News in the video clip below that he believes the deputy was refused service not just because of his gun, but because he was wearing a law enforcement uniform.

“This was an attack because of a uniform,” Campbell stated. “This was an attack because this officer, a young officer – his chosen profession is law enforcement. And he was refused service because of that.”

Watch:

As I’ve written before on this issue, it still floors me when I think about the fact that the idiots who refuse service or who otherwise give shoddy/disrespectful service to our military veterans and law enforcement officers actually think they can get away with it.

Military veterans and law enforcement officers share time in their respective fields under the harshest conditions imaginable. They train together. They work together. They shed blood, sweat, and tears together. They have each other’s backs. They’re willing to take bullets for each other.

And it’s deeply personal to every one of them when one of their own comes under attack, whether in the battlefield, in the line of duty here stateside, or in the normal, everyday roles they serve in their communities.

Anti-law enforcement/military service workers (which I assume is the case here) should know better than to think that the people who rush to protect and defend their fellow Americans whether at home or abroad are actually going to take being insulted and disrespected lying down.

But said workers have been emboldened by ResistanceWestlake Legal Group 2122 NC Jewelry Store Manager out of a Job After Refusing to Serve a Uniformed Sheriff’s Deputy Because He Was Armed resistance Politics North Carolina law enforcement law Guns gun rights gun control Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story Featured Post Culture Allow Media Exception #TheResistance culture, and act accordingly. So be it. In the end, though, they will more often than not find out it’s not worth it – as the manager in this case did.

Boom: The Babylon Bee Hits It out of the Park With Their Latest Hot Takes on the Transgender Issue

When it comes to the issue of “transgender equality”, I’ve worked my fingers to the bone in countering some of the absurd claims made by transgender rights advocates, as have many of my colleagues here at Red State and elsewhere.

But sometimes political satire is the best response in the face of national discussions on issues that seem so surreal that you can’t believe they should even have to be debated.

Such is the case with two recent takes by the Christian news satire site The Babylon Bee on transgender equality.

In a post from Monday titled “Left Vows To Topple Patriarchy By Allowing Biological Males To Dominate Women’s Sports”, the Bee writes:

Declaring that “the future is female” and that they would “no longer bow to toxic male faux-dominance,” Americans on the left of the political spectrum solemnly vowed Saturday to topple the Patriarchy once and for all by allowing biological males to dominate all women’s sports.

“The Patriarchy needs to be smashed, women need to be empowered, and men who identify as women need to be active in women’s contact sports!” one Portland LGBT activist told reporters. “Once every single female sport in America is utterly dominated by biological males who identify as women, the criminal hierarchy of men utterly dominating all aspects of life will be broken—this is not hard!”

In the second example, titled “Man Identifying As 6-Year-Old Crushes Game-Winning Homer In Tee-Ball Championship”, the Bee wrote:

Local 36-year-old man Nate Ripley, who identifies as a six-year-old, “absolutely crushed” a game-winning homer at a local tee-ball game and won the championship for his team Monday evening, reports confirmed.

[…]

Ripley’s feat comes at the end of a momentous tee-ball season, in which the self-identified six-year-old absolutely shattered every record set prior to that point. With a 1.000 batting average, 52 home runs, and an incredible showing at first base, second base, shortstop, third base, and pitcher, the man is being called an inspiration to other six-year-olds everywhere.

The point of each post is not to belittle transgender people, but to demonstrate the folly of pretending that so-called transgender equality can seamlessly co-exist alongside women’s equality. It can’t. It also demonstrates the slippery slope of falling into the trap of believing that people can identify as whoever and whatever they want to – and that somehow in doing so it makes it so.

Well done, BB crew. Well done.

Say what you will about Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, but the guy is clever. He’s often painted as creepy and awkward, but Cruz is actually a guy with a sense of humor that outclasses most of the mainstream comedians and their “clapter” we’re consistently subjected to.

One of the more popular jokes about Cruz is that he’s the Zodiac killer, but another one is a popular sticker that features Ted Cruz’s picture in front of a waving American flag. Below is the words “this man ate my son.”

It’s apparently a popular sticker.

…and so on.

Cruz, not being one to just take a meme lying down, decided he’d pretty much kill the left’s joke in one tweet.

“He was delicious!” tweeted Cruz.

Half of Twitter seemed to be stunned while the other half was appreciating Cruz’s internet checkmate.

One person on the left admitted defeat in the best way possible.

The lesson here is simple. If you come against Ted Cruz, you should probably stay on your toes. He’s proven he’s not the easiest guy to take down, and he’s funnier than you think he is due to the fact that you’ve been told repeatedly that he’s the geeky quiet kid from class.

He’s definitely the geeky kid, but that geeky kid just slew a social media trend with one tweet.

The events of the past couple of days have demonstrated conclusively why free speech cannot survive in a monopolistic environment such as currently exists in social media. Steve Crowder’s YouTube channel has been demonetized because a vile, disgusting simualcrum of a human being could dish out abuse and call for violence but couldn’t take being laughed at. So he went to that motherlode of similar personalities at YouTube and was able to get revenge on the person who made him look nearly as ridiculous as he is.

Today Texas Senator Ted Cruz weighed in:

They also need to explain how people are able to call for the death and rape of conservatives like Dana Loesch with no repercussions.

Cruz has said on numerous occasions that he sees the trend in the social media giants towards controlling what speech they allow to be problematic. He isn’t alone. Elizabeth Warren has made the same critique.

If anything good comes of this it could be having YouTube stripped of its safe harbor protections under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act and made liable for every copyright violation that takes place there.

The infantilization of our youth continues.
Who doesn’t remember the day you got your driver’s license? Who doesn’t remember your first car? It won’t be long before a goodly part of America won’t have those memories. Eric Peters over at American Spectator has a great article out today regarding what I like to call the “Mommy effect,” on our young folks. His position is that in the name of safety, we’ve taken away a great learning opportunity for young people on their way to full adulthood. From the article.

You have probably read about the younger crowd being more interested in their cell phones than in cars. The statistic most often cited in support of this claim — which is true — is that about a fourth of those in the 18-30 bracket don’t even have a driver’s license. Which is also true.

And it’s probably on purpose. Most states don’t allow a teenager to get a full driver’s license until he’s almost not a teenager. He’s allowed to drive — but only by himself. Or with an adult (someone over 18) in the car with him. Not with his friends (or his girlfriend). Not at night.

Forget beach week/spring break — unless driven there by mom and dad. Might as well stay home.

And so, they do. Which is just the point. To sever the emotional bond that heretofore formed between teenagers and cars — and driving them — which lasted a lifetime. It’s much easier to get people out of cars when they haven’t got much interest in getting in them.

And it’s working. Peters does a stellar job in outlining the the benefit to both kids and parents the rite of passage getting that first driver’s license entailed. He then goes on to detail all of the restrictions laid on young people who wish to drive. The ultimate effect of this being young people who may be legally adult, but are a long way from being able to make adult decisions, because we’ve infantilized them in the name of safety. Peters wraps up with

The kids lose interest in cars because driving isn’t much fun. Many no longer even bother to get a license because it’s a hassle without much reward.

Can you blame them?

It would be like blaming the veal calf who shows little interest in walking. The blame lies properly at the feet of the infantilizing priests of the Safety Cult, whose motives may be well-intended but which have caused horrendous damage to the national character.
A free country needs people capable of being free adults — and the sooner the better.

Please take the time to look this article over. My modest post really doesn’t do it justice.

While Corporations Promote Abortion, Wendy’s Is Focused On Helping Children

Westlake Legal Group Untitled-1-2-620x350 While Corporations Promote Abortion, Wendy’s Is Focused On Helping Children Wendy's Politics Good Deeds Front Page Stories Featured Story Dave Thomas Foundation Corporations children causes Allow Media Exception adoption Abortion

So many corporations are concerned with embracing causes nowadays, and too often businesses fall into the left’s intersectional concerns, with abortion being a big one.

According to Big League Politics, Wendy’s corporation and its Dave Thomas Foundation is taking a different route, and focusing on helping children after they’re born by partnering with the social media app Snapchat:

The Foundation is partnering with Snapchat to start the ‘Cause Cup’ program. Participating Wendy’s locations will give soft drinks that have a code on them to allow people to donate $5 toward the foundation, and giving more opportunities for disadvantaged children to live fulfilling lives with a family of their own.

Rita Soronen, who has served as the president and CEO of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption since 2001, hopes that this partnership with Snapchat will take their adoption program nationwide.

“In this country, there are 110,000 children waiting to be adopted. That’s a lot of children who are at risk of turning 18, leaving foster care without a family. They are much more susceptible to negative outcomes as adults,” Soronen said during an interview with Columbus Monthly.

Wendy’s has always had an emphasis on adoption as Dave Thomas, the founder of Wendy’s, was an orphan himself.

This is welcome news as too many corporations focus on not giving a child chance instead of helping those who are here find a better life.

The Dave Thomas Foundation has a success rate to back it up, too, according to Big League Politics. Not just in the way of adopting children, either. It actually saves the taxpayer a lot of money:

They have tested out their methods in Ohio, and had great results by focusing their resources on understanding the children and treating them as individuals rather than cogs in a machine. Case workers are given resources and empowered to spend a great deal of time on children so that they can be understood and placed in homes where they can thrive.

“For the past four to five years now, we have scaled Wendy’s Wonderful Kids across Ohio. We’ve seen more than 330 adoptions finalized across the state. We know that it’s about $3 million a year to keep this program scaled in Ohio. Since we’ve had the program in Ohio, we’ve saved the state $64 million,” Soronen said.

Wendy’s can be counted as one of those corporations that truly does believe in the cause that it champions. So many will express that they “care,” with messages that have been heard ad nauseum from special interest and activist groups from feminists to pro-abortionists.

Wendy’s, however, is actually being a positive force in the world by helping people.

Carlos Maza Handed a Major Victory to the Right

Westlake Legal Group conservatives-silenced-620x326 Carlos Maza Handed a Major Victory to the Right vox Steven Crowder Social Media Silence Politics nbc Media Internet Front Page Stories Free Speech Featured Story corporation Censorship carlos maza Allow Media Exception

There’s been a revolt against the established order within the media for years now.

Rush Limbaugh injected right-leaning opinion into what was thought to be a dead medium and began challenging the long-running monologue of the mainstream media. Fox News arrived on the scene and became the foil to carefully constructed narratives by the left.

Then the internet was invented. The aforementioned monologue became a dialogue with everyday citizens. For the mainstream media, this was a disaster. They were opposed at every turn. Major movements gained hold thanks to social media. Major movements sprang up as a result, from the Tea Party to #GamerGate, all of which were aimed at resistance to an established form of corruption in some form or fashion.

With each step, there was pushback from said establishment. The push to silence Limbaugh took a multitude of forms, Fox News is labeled every negative thing in the book, and both the Tea Party and #GamerGate were labeled the gatherings of sexist white supremacists.

Now we have the #VoxAdpocalypse brought on by a commentator for the mainstream establishment. As you may know by now, Carlos Maza of Vox attempting to silence one of his most vocal critics, Steven Crowder, by attacking YouTube’s loyalty to the LGBT movement, and using the power of the mob and corporate power to do it.

Vox is an established left-wing media company backed by NBC, a major media corporation. Maza, in his attempt to silence Crowder, brought the weight at his disposal to bear and YouTube crumpled like a cheap suit.

In its rush to capitulate, YouTube began demonetizing anything that looked remotely dangerous. This means anything right-leaning, but in many cases, raw news and educational channels got hit as well. YouTubers across the board are now left with no cash flow from their videos, and people who relied on them to keep a roof over their head and put food on their table are now left to find a new option, and quick.

And with that, Maza made a point so clear that the right should be considering him one of the best players on our team.

Maza has put a lot of people in harm’s way and it’s very clear that this was done because his feelings were hurt. YouTube originally found no fault in what Crowder did or said. Indeed, much of what Crowder described him as were things Maza had identified as, to begin with.

But even if Maza didn’t describe himself as homosexual, queer, Mexican, immigrant, etc, many are left to wonder if it was worth losing their livelihoods over someone calling someone else names.

And herein lies Maza’s failure. Much of the thought revolutions that have occurred in the recent past is due to the fact that people began to ask questions about the validity of the establishment’s stances. Are the “facts” they’re reporting actually the truth? Are these people as bad as they say they are? Is the action to counter them worth it?

And this will happen because Crowder has never had more attention. He went from being a conservative figure to a national one. More people are going to tune in to see his messages. They’ll want to see what he had to say about Maza by watching his videos and be dosed by facts delivered in an entertaining manner. They’ll see his “Change My Mind” videos and witness an actual conversation between sides and see the faults in the left’s narrative, not to mention the overreaction when they’re cornered.

As they look into Crowder they’ll see that he’s none of the things Maza has labeled him as, and the more you learn the more you realize Maza is a paper-thin skinned man child. Then you start to wonder if others saying the same things as him are like that and if their ilk should be taken seriously at all.

Maza, in his quest to silence and censor, has never made his opposition louder…with Crowder.

And this is always the pattern. The establishment attempts to silence dissent, and as a result, people flock to hear what the other side is saying that’s so horrible only to find that it’s not horrible at all. Goliath gets a little smaller.

Sadly, for Maza, he didn’t just bring people to Crowder’s doorstep. He hurt them.

Several weeks ago, Judge Emmet Sullivan, who has presided over the case of General Michael Flynn, requested that Special Counsel prosecutors turn over transcripts of Michael Flynn’s telephone conversations with then-Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak from December 2016.

Last Friday, prosecutors refused to provide the information.

On Tuesday, Sullivan issued the following statement:

Upon consideration of the government’s submissions in response to those orders, the government is not required to file any additional materials or information on the public docket pursuant to the Court’s Orders.

There has been much speculation over why prosecutors have refused to release the transcripts, especially after it came to light last Friday that the Mueller Report had materially mischaracterized the nature of a voicemail from Trump’s attorney, John Dowd, to Michael Flynn’s attorney, Robert Kelner.

It’s been months since Michael Flynn has been in the news. If anyone would like a refresher on the background of the Flynn case, please read the “Back Story.” Others, please scroll down to “Recent Developments.”

Update: It was just reported that Flynn has fired his legal team. My colleague, Streiff, has reported on this story here.

The Back Story:

During the transition period, Flynn held several conversations with then-Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak during which the two had discussed Obama’s sanctions. As Flynn had already been tapped to become Trump’s National Security Advisor, it was perfectly legal for Flynn and Kislyak to talk to each other and it was also legal for them to discuss the sanctions. (He was  fired by Trump for lying to Vice President Mike Pence about those conversations.)

Kislyak was under US surveillance and Obama intelligence officials had access to recordings and transcriptions of his calls. Upon hearing the calls, several of Obama’s DOJ officials, believed Flynn was in violation of the Logan Act, a law enacted in 1799, “under which no one has ever been prosecuted, that prohibits private citizens from acting on behalf of the United States in disputes with foreign governments.” The Washington Examiner’s Byron York explains:

The Obama officials also said they were concerned by reports that Flynn, in a conversation with Vice President Mike Pence, had denied discussing sanctions. This, the officials felt, might somehow expose Flynn to Russian blackmail.

So Obama appointees atop the Justice Department sent FBI agents to the White House to interview Flynn, who was ultimately charged with lying in that interview.

Note: Flynn had served as Obama’s Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) from July 2012 to August 2014 when he was “forced out.” The expressed concern by Obama officials that Flynn might become the target of a Russian blackmail scheme was a smokescreen.

PJ Media’s Debra Heine explains:

Throughout his tenure, Flynn “clashed mightily with the Obama administration’s policies on ISIS and the Iran nuclear deal, among other things, which put him at odds with the Obama-friendly deep state.” Following his ouster, Flynn’s public remarks deepened the rift. “For instance, in November 2015 during an appearance on Fox News, Flynn called for an investigation into the ISIS intel-skewing scandal, recommending that it “start right at the top.”

Obama already despised Flynn. But his hate likely turned to fear when his former DIA decided to throw his support behind Donald J. Trump, another boat-rocker who had a real chance of winning. Obama made a point after the 2016 election of advising Trump not to hire Flynn. But Trump didn’t listen.

Next thing Flynn knew, government spies were listening in on his innocuous phone conversations with Kislyak, his name was unmasked by someone in the Obama administration, and the contents of the call were leaked to the Washington Post (which remains the only serious crime to have emerged in the Russia investigation).

Dan Bongino explains the sequence of events on his podcast:

Note: This is a summary of Bongino’s remarks. His podcasts don’t lend themselves to direct quotes.

Bongino discusses Flynn’s opposition to the Iran Deal, that he had information on how dangerous the deal was for the US. Because of this and Flynn’s knowledge of other administration business, “they need to make Flynn go away. He knows too much. He’s got the goods. Obama officials watch Flynn supporting Trump on the campaign trail.” They’re afraid of what he might reveal. Obama spoke to Trump to try to discourage him from hiring Flynn. Trump hires him anyway.

On December 29, 2016, two important incidents occurred. Mike Flynn was vacationing in the Dominican Republic where he did not have secure communications. The Obama team knew this. “Obama needs to do something to piss off the Russians, but not start WWIII” hoping that they will contact Flynn and they do. Obama orders sanctions against Russia and expels 35 diplomats in retaliation for their interference in our election. Why would he do this nearly two months after the election?

As the Obama team hoped, Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak calls Flynn in the Dominican Republic. They discussed the events of the day including the sanctions.

And the Obama team now has a transcript and a recording of the call. They use this later when agents interview Flynn. They know that Flynn will not remember all the details of the call and they will use this in the future to set him up for a “false statement” charge.

On January 12, 2017, an Obama official leaked Flynn’s name and details of his December 29, 2016 call with Kislyak to David Ignatius at the Washington Post who then published a story about it. The identity of the leaker is unknown. Whoever leaked it has committed a felony.

On January 24, 2017, two FBI agents arrive unannounced at the White House to question Flynn, omitting the fact that they were conducting a criminal interview,

Both agents have said they believed Flynn had been truthful in answering their questions.

Yet, Flynn is later charged with lying to the FBI.

Recent Developments:

It would be extremely beneficial to obtain a copy of the transcript from the December 29, 2016 call. Investigative reporter Sarah Carter believes it could a “game changer.”

Prosecutors are trying to prevent that from happening.

It is noteworthy that the Mueller Report does not contain any information about which intelligence official leaked details of the December 29, 2016 Flynn/Kisylak call (which was classified information) to Ignatius. But then, why would they bother to investigate wrongdoing by members of the deep state?

An intelligence official who has personally seen the transcripts told NPR “they contained “no evidence” of criminal wrongdoing, although the official said it can’t be definitively ruled out. The official also said there was “absolutely nothing” in the transcripts that suggests Flynn was acting under instructions “or that the trail leads higher.”

The official added, “I don’t think [Flynn] knew he was doing anything wrong. Flynn talked about sanctions, but no specific promises were made. Flynn was speaking more in general ‘maybe we’ll take a look at this going forward’ terms.”

The transcripts might contain exculpatory evidence that would benefit Flynn.

Last Friday, we learned that the Mueller Report omitted the critical sentence of a voicemail from Trump’s attorney, John Dowd, to Flynn’s attorney, Robert Kelner. This missing sentence completely altered the meaning of Dowd’s message. The only reasonable conclusion one can draw is that the Mueller team intended to mislead the public.

Dowd appeared on Sean Hannity early this week and said, “Isn’t it ironic that this man [Mueller], who kept indicting and prosecuting people for process crimes, committed a false statement in his own report.” Yes, it is.

And, if prosecutors tried to mislead the public about that voicemail, there is reason to believe the transcripts which prosecutors have refused to hand over to Judge Emmet G. Sullivan, may contain information they want to hide. Sullivan formally requested the transcripts on May 16th and prosecutors have refused to release them.

The Special Counsel prosecutors’ “Addendum to the Government’s Memorandum in Aid of Sentencing” stated:

The government further represents that it is not relying on any other recordings of any person, for purposes of establishing the defendant’s guilt or determining his sentence, nor are there any other recordings that are part of the sentencing record.

Okay, we’ll just take your word for it gentlemen, because you’ve proven yourselves to be so trustworthy in the past.

Former DOJ official Joshua Geltzer told The New York Times that “intelligence collection would be a rare step to make public. What you see in today’s filing is the government trying to avoid disclosing that material.”

There have been several oddities surrounding the FBI’s investigation of General Flynn. First, neither of the two FBI agents who interviewed him on January 24, 2017, Peter Strzok and Joe Pientka, thought he was lying about his “recollection of the conversation.” Comey even said this during congressional testimony.

Flynn eventually plead guilty to lying to the FBI. But this was only after he had gone deeply into debt and lost his home due to his mounting legal bills. Some believe that Mueller’s investigators threatened to go after Flynn’s son as well.

It was found that the FBI’s 302 (interview report) was not written until August 22, 2017, seven months after Strzok and Pientka had interviewed Flynn. It is standard FBI protocol for 302 reports to be written with a day or two of speaking with a witness.

Carter suggests comparing the transcripts (if they are released) to the FBI’s 302s to search for discrepancies.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned over the last few years, it’s that Robert Mueller cannot be trusted.
