On Tuesday night as MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow was handing off her show to her colleague, Lawrence O’Donnell, he announced that a source had informed him that President Trump’s Deutsche Bank loans had been co-signed by Russian oligarchs. I posted about this here.

In the meantime, on Wednesday morning, President Trump’s attorney sent a brutal letter to NBC Universal brass demanding that both O’Donnell and NBCU “immediately and prominently retract, correct and apologize for the aforementioned false and defamatory statements.” This letter can be viewed here.

O’Donnell quickly fired off the following tweet, and promised to address the issue on his show tonight.

In the meantime, upon hearing O’Donnell’s big scoop last night, actress Alyssa Milano sent off an obnoxious tweet of her own. Classy.

After O’Donnell’s retraction, many were wondering if Milano would delete it.

At 6 pm, it was still up.

By 7:30 pm, it was gone.

Pow! Ted Cruz Mercilessly Lays Out Bernie Sanders Over His Pro-China Comments

Westlake Legal Group music-black-and-white-white-sport-photography-ring-846233-pxhere.com_-620x413 Pow! Ted Cruz Mercilessly Lays Out Bernie Sanders Over His Pro-China Comments Uncategorized Ted Cruz socialism Poverty Front Page Stories Featured Story Congress communism China Bernie Sanders Allow Media Exception 2020

Speaking to Hill.TV’s Krystal Ball Wednesday, 2020 hopeful and everyone’s favorite multimillionaire socialist uncle — Bernie Sanders — heaped praise upon progressive China:

“But what we have to say about China, in fairness to China and it’s leadership, is — if I’m not mistaken — they have made more progress in addressing extreme poverty than any country in the history of civilization. Okay? So they’ve done a lot of things for their people.”

Ted Cruz, apparently, found the comment curious.

Therefore, he decided to Crush Uncle Bernie mercilessly:

“Sure, the Chinese Communists have wrongfully imprisoned & tortured millions, and they have murdered over 65 million people, but Bernie may have a point: when you’re dead, your poverty’s solved, right? #AbsurdLeftistPropaganda.”

via GIPHY

Perhaps Bernie’s just a good-timin’ fella who likes to look on the non-murderous bright side.

Still, Ted cruised in and wrecked ol’ Bern with that blazer.

Uncle Bernie’s a revolutionary, and — unfortunately — many of his supporters seem wholly aware of what he’s selling. Despite signs and comments by millennials to the contrary, socialism isn’t simply a system in which everyone’s taken care of. It’s a design which prohibits individuals from owning their own businesses, as the government possesses all products and means of production. Which China has in the past somewhat employed: Under Chairman Mao, every factory and farm in the gargantuan nation was owned by the Communist Party.

Is that what the youngsters really want? The inability to open their own vape store?

Presumably, Bernie’s a fan.

Thankfully, many who know the definition of words aren’t.

That includes Ted, who’s no stranger to correcting Mr. Sanders.

Take a short trip back in time and watch Ted absolutely shred your uncle below. Like China, Ted’s intense:

The Outrage Mob Eats NYT’s Shorts Again: the Paper Caves and Re-Characterizes the Tea Party as Even More Villainous

Westlake Legal Group tea-556777_1280-620x413 The Outrage Mob Eats NYT’s Shorts Again: the Paper Caves and Re-Characterizes the Tea Party as Even More Villainous Uncategorized The New York Times tea party racism Politics Media Front Page Stories Featured Story democrats Culture Cory Booker Conservatives Barack Obama Allow Media Exception

Well, here’s something bizarre.

On Wednesday, The New York Times published an article characterizing the Tea Party as having “unleashed the politics of anger” that lives on in this pres(id)ent darkness.

The piece was titled “The Tea Party Didn’t Get What It Wanted, but It Did Unleash the Politics of Anger.”

But some left-wing readers didn’t appreciate it — how could the Times address the Tea Party without portraying it as sufficiently villainous?

In response, the New York mainstay assured its audience of a revision which now “[included] context about attacks on President Barack Obama and racist displays at some Tea Party rallies.”

All of you who were upset, be made exceedingly glad:

TiGGyZTweetZ presumably felt better yet was still disgusted:

But that’s just ol’ TiGGyZTweetZ for ya.

At its inception, the Tea Party was, of course, a call to more limited government.

Here’s how The New York Times portrayed it:

In the late summer of 2009, as the recession-ravaged economy bled half a million jobs a month, the country seemed to lose its mind.

Lawmakers accustomed to scheduling town hall meetings where no one would show up suddenly faced shouting crowds of hundreds, some of whom brought a holstered pistol or a rifle slung over the shoulder. One demonstrator at a rally in Maryland hanged a member of Congress in effigy. A popular bumper sticker at the time captured the contempt for the federal bailout of certain homeowners. “Honk if I’m Paying Your Mortgage,” it said.

That was part of the original with which people weren’t satisfied.

Enjoy the additions:

One significant limitation to the Tea Party is the contradiction in its DNA: It was a mass uprising based on notions of small-government libertarianism that are popular with think tanks but not so popular with most Americans. And as Mr. Obama’s allies saw the movement, its outrage over the debt and deficit had another purpose: giving cover and a voice to those who wanted to attack the first black president — people who in some cases showed up at rallies waving signs with racist caricatures and references.

This isn’t the NTY’s first correction based on outrage from the Left. Witness Cory Farticus Booker’s early-August condemnation, which in part resulted in an about face:

August, indeed.

Long Time Coming: Marvel Gives the World its First Openly-Gay Male Superhero, and There’s More Where That Came From

Westlake Legal Group shoe-1433925_1280-620x465 Long Time Coming: Marvel Gives the World its First Openly-Gay Male Superhero, and There’s More Where That Came From zach barack Uncategorized transgender Tom Holland Thor the eternals tessa thompson spider-man Movies Marvel Studios Marvel Cinematic Universe LGBT Kevin Feige Hollywood Good Morning America Front Page Stories Featured Story Entertainment Culture Allow Media Exception

It’s happened.

After years of reference by way of interviews and film dialogue, Disney-owned Marvel Studios has announced its first full-on-featured openly gay male superhero.

Studio President Kevin Feige broke the news on Good Morning America Monday, touting the upcoming film series The Eternals and its crew of characters — “the most diverse Marvel’s cast yet, including an openly gay character.”

Kevin explained that the super man’s sexuality will be presented along the lines of “no big deal”:

“He’s married, he’s got a family, and that is just part of who he is.”

Check out the video, starting at 1:38.

Among the cast of Disney’s monumental move: Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington.

Plus: Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Richard Madden, Gemma Chan, Kumail Nanjiani, and Brian Tyree Henry.

Additionally on the homosexual horizon, the character of Valkyrie in Marvel’s Thor series will be getting some same-sex screen time in the next installment.

At Comic-Con in July, actress Tessa Thompson confirmed Valkyrie’s lesbian longing:

“As new king [of Asgard], she needs to find her queen. That will be the first order of business. She has some ideas. I’ll keep you posted.”

Marvel’s been on a path toward LGBT world-saving for quite some time.

In Spider-Man: Far From Home, one of Peter Parker’s classmates was played by Zach Barack, a woman who identifies as a man.

And in July, actor Tom Holland announced he’s open to Spidey himself coming out as gay.

Avengers: Endgame also got in on the evolutionary action. But, as observed by The Daily Wire, some found it inadequate:

While The Eternals will feature Marvel’s first openly gay male superhero, he won’t be the first openly gay character in the MCU. Avengers: Endgame, which dominated the box office this year, includes a character — named simply “Grieving Man” in the credits — participating in a support group hosted by Captain America/Steve Rogers. Grieving Man, played by co-director Joe Russo, tells the group that he’s dating another man, but it’s difficult to manage in the grim, “post-Snap” world. The moment was met with backlash from some critics, including Gizmodo’s Charles Pulliam-Moore, who were upset about the “inconsequential” manner in which the MCU’s first gay character was presented.

The superhero landscape is certainly changing. We’re turning a corner; surely much more is to come.

On Tuesday, MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell reported a source had informed him that the co-signers on Trump’s Deutsche Bank loans were Russian oligarchs. (Video below.)

As MSNBC host Rachel Maddow was turning the airwaves over to O’Donnell, he said, “This single source close to Deutsche Bank has told me that the Trump — Donald Trump’s loan documents there show that he has co-signers. That’s how he was able to obtain those loans. And that the co-signers are Russian oligarchs.” He added that his source also told him the co-signers were “Russian billionaires close to Vladimir Putin.”

Maddow’s ears immediately perked up. “What? Really?”

As if he had just made an incredible discovery, he said, “That would explain, it seems to me, every kind word Donald Trump has ever said about Russia and Vladimir Putin, if true, and I stress the ‘if true’ part of this.”

O’Donnell claimed his source had also said that Trump “pays little to no income tax in some years.”

If true,” O’Donnell said, “that would be a significant factor in Vladimir Putin’s publicly stated preference for presidential candidate Donald Trump over presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.”

Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey said, “If true … it might be the first time such a thing has happened on MSNBC concerning Trump and Russia.”

Given the source, the conservative blogosphere is not taking O’Donnell’s claims too seriously.

It is true, however, that Deutsche Bank has Trump’s tax returns. Democratic House leaders have been after Trump’s returns for a while now and an appellate court is currently deliberating on whether or not to allow Congress access to them.

Morrissey points out that Deutsche Bank has Russian problems of their own right now and suggested that maybe O’Donnell has this backwards.

According to the Washington Post:

Deutsche Bank had repeatedly failed to secure work with a Russian government entity when it was approached with a proposal: Hire the daughter of a high-ranking official at the organization.

“We must do it!” a senior Deutsche Bank official said, according to the Securities and Exchange Commission. “We should have her in London as it is NOT politically correct to have her in Moscow!”

The woman was hired with a promise of a permanent position in London, according to allegations detailed in an SEC settlement agreement. Ten days after the move was complete, the new employee’s father sent Deutsche Bank a request for a proposal on a bond deal worth more than $2 billion, a deal the bank ultimately won.

The SEC order outlines numerous alleged violations by the bank of the 1977 Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, saying the bank provided jobs to relatives of foreign government officials in an attempt to influence the officials to steer business to the bank. Deutsche Bank agreed to settle the SEC’s allegations late last week by paying $16 million, though it did not admit wrongdoing.

As it turns out, O’Donnell spoke way too soon. An MSNBC producer, Michael Del Moro, tweeted earlier that O’Donnell’s reporting had come “from a single source who has not yet seen the bank records. NBC has not seen those records and has not yet been able to verify the reporting.”

So, why then, if his single source had not even viewed the loan documents, did O’Donnell report it? That’s a rhetorical question. I guess for the same reasons he reported that Trump had colluded with the Russians for nearly three years.

Citing health reasons–he just had surgery to remove a growth on a kidney–Georgia Senator Johnny Isakson announced that he would retire from the Senate at the end of this year.

Isakson’s term does not expire until 2022 but, because there is an election in 2020, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp appointed replacement will only serve until a new election is held.

I’m not a follower of Georgia politics but the shock to me was this:

I would have thought Ms.-I-wuz-robbed would have killed people to take a shot at proving her electoral might in a fairly open race.

This is something that the GOP didn’t really need in what could be a tough year for the GOP Senate caucus. David Perdue is up for reelection this year and Isaakson’s resignation puts both of Georgia’s senate seats in play next November. The Democrats think they smell blood in the water. Three Democrats are already vying to opposes Perdue and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution speculates that the top contenders are Rev. Raphael Warnock, the pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church; Jon Ossoff, a former candidate for Georgia’s 6th Congressional District; Jason Carter, the runner-up for governor in 2014; and Michelle Nunn, who was defeated by David Perdue in the 2014 Senate race.

Video Appears to Show Biden Forget Obama’s Name, Calls the G7 Summit “the G8”

Joe Biden has committed so many gaffes in just the month of August alone that most of us have lost track of them.

He’s added more to the list this week, with the two latest coming from a campaign stop he made in Richmond, Va. on Tuesday.

In the first video clip, Biden is talking about remarks President Trump made at the G7 Summit earlier this week where he said “President Putin outsmarted President Obama” on the Russia/Ukraine/Crimea issue. The Daily Caller’s Virginia Kruta sets the scene:

[Trump] claimed that Obama wanted Russia removed from the G7 — then the G8 — because Putin had “tricked” Obama when he invaded the Ukraine on his watch. Trump had then argued that Russia should be allowed to come back to the table, saying that he would rather have them “inside the tent” than outside it.

“They invaded another country and annexed a significant portion of it, called Crimea,” Biden said in response, adding, “He’s saying that it was President … my boss … it was his fault.”

Watch video of Biden’s flub below:

During that same speech, probably preceding it, Biden also mistakenly referred to the G7 Summit as “the G8”:

In fairness, it used to be called the G8 until Russia was effectively kicked out of it in 2014 over their annexation of Crimea. President Obama helped lead the effort to ban Putin from the summit as punishment for his actions.

That isolation is why the summit is now called the G7.

The rising number of gaffes Biden continues to make come at a time when as his aides are furiously trying to wave off any concerns that the former vice president is not up to the task of running for president:

“I think the press has to be more careful about applying an unfair standard to Joe Biden than they’re applying to other candidates,” Bedingfield responded. “If you listen to what the candidates say all day as they’re out campaigning, they’re out in front of cameras, they’re in front of people, they’re talking all day. Everybody’s going to slip up and misstate a name or a date or a location. It happens all the time.”

She continued: “People know who he is. They know this is a part of his charm. They understand that, you know, they’re getting it straight from him. It’s not overly packaged. He’s always speaking from his heart. And sure, that means sometimes he’s going to misstate a couple of things. But, frankly, so does every other candidate.”

It’s true that all candidates make gaffes of some sort. It sort of goes with territory of being on the road non-stop, talking to people, and being surrounded by campaign aides 24-7. But this is different. Very different.

I wrote last week about this issue and speculated that it’s quite possible the frequent mistakes Biden makes on the campaign trail can no longer be boiled down simply to tiredness, long days on the campaign trail, and “Joe being Joe.”

I hope I’m wrong and that this is not “something more” concerning, as some Democrats have hinted it might be.

Meet Joe Black: Biden Does His Best to Convince Black People He’s Down – By Insisting He’s Not Even Uncomfortable Around Them

Joe Biden wants to become president.

Therefore, he wants America’s vote.

White people constitute a majoritynot merely a plurality — of the country.

Therefore, Joe Biden wants to…slam white people?

Interesting strategy.

I can’t think of any venue other than politics where a person would insult the very people they should need in order to succeed. But perhaps I’m not considering the Democratic finesse of such a move.

As reported by the Washington Examiner, on Tuesday, Joe finessed his head off to a small group of reporters.

He also took the increasingly popular view that the 50’s were right: People should be separated as white and non-white (now “people of color”).

Hit it, Joe:

“White folks are the reason we have institutional racism. There has always been racism in America. White supremacists have always existed; they still exist.”

Did he forget he’s white folks, too? In fact, he’s worse: He’s white folks in power.

The former VP appears intent upon snagging the support of black Americans — really intent:

“The bad news is I have a long record. The good news is I have a long record. People know me — at least they think they know me. I think after all this time, I think they have a sense of what my character is, who I am.”

Do it to it, Joe:

“I’ve never, ever, ever in my entire life been in a circumstance where I’ve ever felt uncomfortable being in the black community.”

Is it just me, or in an effort to come across stunningly hip, did he just out himself as a winceworthily out-of-it whitey who grew up in the 40’s?

No matter, he wanted to heavily hammer it in:

“All I know is I don’t think anybody in the community thinks I am — what’s the phrase? ‘I know you’re not a racist, Joe.’”

Pssst. Joe. Stop immediately. You’re really, really not coming across the way you think.

“I don’t think anyone thinks that about me.”

Dang it.

He’s so earth-scorchingly UberWoke, he’ll probably even pick a running mate who’s maybe one of them non-whites:

“Whomever I pick would be preferably someone who was of color and who was of a different gender, but I’m not making that commitment until I know that the person I’m dealing with I can completely, thoroughly trust, is authentic, and is on the same page.”

Joe also slammed Donald Trump, saying a president’s words can “appeal to the worst damn instincts of human nature.”

But a better insult altogether came from a couple AP writers who covered this story.

Here’s what they had to say, and it’s pretty incredible:

By highlighting the nation’s racial tensions and placing blame on Trump, Biden is showing that he, too, is willing to make race a core campaign issue, but from the opposite perspective of the president.

They stated — as if it were a simple point of fact — that Donald Trump is making race a core campaign issue.

Who talks about race — Donald Trump, or the media?

And notice that Trump’s factually from the “opposite perspective” of being pro-non-white.

Dear All Left-Wing Writers and Talking Heads:

By and large, Donald Trump doesn’t talk about race. YOU talk about race. You talk about it and talk about it and talk about it, and then you talk about it. You never stop talking about it. And seemingly, every time Trump opens his mouth and talks about things which are not about race, you senselessly claim that’s all they concern.

Like a buncha maniacs.

Please stop. You’re making me spill my grape juice.

Love and Hugs,
Alex Parker

P.S. And to all y’all who are white: Please stop your institutional racism and white supremacy.

#Biden2020

It’s been a wild news week where bedbugs have featured prominently in national stories about poor working conditions at the New York Times, a minor-turned-major insult directed at Times columnist Bret Stephens, and allegations of a bedbug infestation at President Trump’s Doral golf resort.

The Stephens story is arguably the biggest among them, considering by his own hand he brought the harsh, glaring spotlight on himself by turning a harmless (in the scheme of things) Twitter insult from a George Washington University associate professor into a big f—in’ deal.

Naturally, President Trump was going to weigh in on this matter because Stephens, viewed in some circles as the NYT’s “token” conservative, is a frequent critic of Trump and has bragged about being a staunch part of the Never Trump movement.

Late last night and first thing this morning, Trump cut loose on the stories about alleged bedbug infestations at Doral, and Stephens himself:

Though Stephens has indeed deleted his Twitter account in the aftermath of the backlash against him, no doubt he’ll hear about Trump’s rant against him, since he seems to be super-sensitive to and monitors that sort of thing.

In a rather ironic update to Slate’s Monday story about the NYT bedbug infestation issue that was announced via an email to employees at the beginning of the week, exactly one bedbug was found “on a 3rd floor couch” after the affected areas were treated. There was no word, however, of whether or not Bret Stephens’ office is on the 3rd floor in the vicinity of that couch.

Stay tuned.
