MSNBC’s Chris Matthews drew ire on social media Saturday after he compared the Nevada Democratic caucus victory of U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders to France’s fall to the Nazis in 1940.

“I’m reading last night about the fall of France in the summer of 1940,” Matthews said during the netowk’s caucus coverage. “And the general calls up Churchill and says, ‘It’s over,’ and Churchill says, ‘How can it be? You got the greatest army in Europe. How can it be over?’ He said, ‘It’s over.’”

The backlash on Twitter was swift and severe, with many commenters calling for Matthews to resign or be fired. Many pointed out that Sanders’ family includes survivors of the Holocaust.

But Larry O’Connor, a commentator with the Washington Examiner and KABC radio in Los Angeles, shared a different view.

BETO O’ROURKE TO MSNBC: TRUMP’S RHETORIC ‘PERHAPS INSPIRED BY GOEBBELS’

“For the past four years,” O’Connor wrote, “Donald Trump has been incessantly likened to Hitler and his supporters to Nazis, so to all the outraged Dems screaming about Chris Matthews making a clumsy, innocuous comparison between Bernie’s win and 1940 France, may I just say…”

During his commentary, Matthews expressed doubts about Sanders’ chances in November if he goes on to win the Democratic nomination and face President Trump.

“It looks like Bernie Sanders is hard to beat right now,” Matthews said. “I’m with [James] Carville all the way in terms of the dangers of what lies ahead in November. They’re sitting on so much oppo research on Bernie.”

Matthews said Republicans would “kill” Sanders in the general election but right now “it’s a little late to stop him.”

Pilot in Kobe Bryant crash once violated FAA rules on low-visibility flying: report

The pilot flying the helicopter that crashed into a Los Angeles County hillside late last month, killing retired NBA star Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gigi, the pilot and six others, had once violated federal flight rules by flying over airspace near Los Angeles International Airport against the orders of air traffic control, according to Federal Aviation Administration records.

Ara Zobayan in 2015 was denied clearance to fly an AS350 into the airspace because of reduced visibility and weather conditions, The Los Angeles Times reported.

KOBE BRYANT, DAUGHTER GIANNA LAID TO REST IN PRIVATE CALIFORNIA FUNERAL, REPORTS SAY

“Had Mr. Zobayan properly planned and reviewed current weather at LAX, he would have been able to anticipate the required action to transit … resulting in proper coordination,” the 2015 report said, adding “There are no indications that this is a repeated incident and there are no signs that this incident is a trend with Mr. Zobayan.”

Zobayan took responsibility for his mistake and was counseled by an FAA investigator afterward, the FAA said in the report.

Helicopter pilot Shawn Coyle told The Times the violation was considered minor and he doesn’t know a pilot who hasn’t violated a rule.

“If that’s the only violation he’s ever had then I would say he’s pretty safe,” he said.

Zobayan was attempting to climb out of a cloud layer on Jan. 26 when the chartered helicopter dropped 1,200 feet into a hillside in the Los Angeles suburb of Calabasas, killing everyone on board.

Zobayan was the chief pilot for Island Express Helicopters Inc. at the time of the crash, the same company he flew for in 2015.

Kurt Deetz, a former pilot for Island Express Helicopters, told the newspaper, “You can’t request special VFR and then they deny you and you say, ‘Oh wait a minute, actually I’m VFR’,” he said. “That’s not how it works. It shows that perhaps his understanding of special VFR, as opposed to VFR, was cloudy.”

Island Express reported that it conducted additional ground and flight training with him after the 2015 incident.

In 2015, he requested to continue flying using special visual flight rules (VFR), which would allow him to fly in suboptimal visibility conditions but was denied, unlike last month when he was granted the request.

Jeffrey Epstein estate’s bills, employees going unpaid over ‘insufficient funds,’ lawyers say: report

Westlake Legal Group AP20009804971668 Jeffrey Epstein estate's bills, employees going unpaid over 'insufficient funds,' lawyers say: report fox-news/us/crime/sex-crimes fox-news/travel/vacation-destinations/u-s-virgin-islands fox-news/person/jeffrey-epstein fox news fnc/us fnc Brie Stimson article 165f8cf0-d73b-58cd-9b63-9d6b274307a0

Lawyers for late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s $600 million U.S. Virgin Islands estate said liens imposed by the local attorney general have left them unable to pay the estate’s bills, employees at his various properties or for legal defense from his accusers, according to a filing made public Friday.

Co-executors Darren K. Indyke and Richard D. Kahn’s lawyers wrote several payments, including for electricity and pest control, that have been returned for “insufficient funds” and asked the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands, which imposed the criminal-activity liens, to strike them down or at least allow the executors to pay for the estate’s administration, The Miami Herald reported.

The filing also said the estate is unable to pay the caretakers at his residences in Florida, New Mexico and New York and power could soon be turned off.

“The harm caused by the Government’s Lien-imposed freeze on the Estate’s account at FirstBank is no longer theoretical — it is now immediate and real,” the filing said, adding they “can no longer pay for the defense of the twenty-two lawsuits pending against the Estate arising from claims of sexual abuse by Mr. Epstein, including the forfeiture action asserted by the Government as the basis for the imposition of the Liens.”

JEFFREY EPSTEIN ESTATE WORTH $57M MORE THAN A PREVIOUS ESTIMATE: REPORT

The lien, imposed Jan. 31, was part of a civil enforcement action brought by U.S. Virgin Islands Attorney General Denise George, expanded in February to name Indyke and Kahn as co-conspirators.

George alleged Indyke and Kahn conspired with Epstein to help him exploit minors and she doesn’t want either of them involved in the estate’s proposed victims’ compensation fund.

She said the lawyers could try to drain the fund before making restitution with alleged victims who were as young as 12 in the Virgin Islands and explained the lien was necessary to get an inventory of the estates’ assets, The Herald reported.

George also said Epstein’s lawyers tried to fraudulently get tax breaks after he started living in the Virgin Islands following his release from a Florida jail in 2009.

Epstein served 13 months with work release privileges for prostitution charges.

After a subsequent arrest on sex-trafficking charges, Epstein, 66, was found hanging in his New York City prison cell in August and was later declared dead, investigators said.

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., accused Meghan McCain of hypocrisy Thursday over “The View” co-host’s criticism of Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., supporters’ misogynistic attacks on social media.

Omar claimed McCain and other conservatives regularly use anti-Muslim smears against her online.

“The same people who chastise the progressive movement regularly traffic in anti-Muslim smears and hate speech against me and those I represent,” Omar, who has endorsed Sanders, tweeted. “It’s almost as if they don’t genuinely care about online harassment.”

‘THE VIEW’ CO-HOSTS ARGUE WITH GAETZ OVER STANCE ON ROGER STONE PARDON: ‘OH, COME ON CONGRESSMAN!’

After Sanders was criticized at Wednesday’s Democratic debate of not effectively curbing social media harassment by some of his most virulent supporters, McCain weighed in on Twitter.

“Bernie – your army of Bernie bro’s are the worst in all of the internet and every woman on both sides knows it,” McCain wrote. “Mysoginistic, abusive and inspired by you. There’s no army of Pete bots or Biden bots abusing women!”

Omar then tweeted a screenshot of McCain’s tweet plus another in which the TV host retweeted an unsubstantiated claim that Omar had married her own brother.

“How is this not a bigger deal?” McCain wrote.

The congresswoman has strenuously denied the claim, which she calls “disgusting lies.”

This isn’t the first time the two have clashed.

Last year, McCain said Omar’s rhetoric — that some have called anti-Semitic — needed to be addressed following a deadly shooting at a synagogue in Southern California.

“I do think when we are having conversations about anti-Semitism we should be looking at the most extreme on both sides, and I would bring up Congresswoman Ilhan Omar and some of her comments that got so much attention,” McCain told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos.

A Colorado condominium owner said this week she had to spend hundreds of dollars and lost about two months’ worth of rent, in an effort to evict squatters who left behind underwear, dirty dishes, a snake and sex toys.

Sarah Feldman told Denver’s FOX 31 that after a tenant broke their lease another woman moved in without her knowledge and refused to leave.

“She was being difficult, she didn’t want to leave,” Feldman said. “There was her and two guys I’ve never seen before.”

After a month, Feldman got a lawyer and obtained a writ for the Denver Sheriff’s Department to evict the squatters.

“There were guys’ underwear all over. It was just really disgusting,” Feldman told FOX 31. “There were sex toys found in the condo as well that I did not want to touch.”

The squatters also left behind stained carpets and even left a snake in a cage with no lid.

Aside from the rent loss, Feldman had to pay her legal fees, $150 for the writ, and the costs of fixing the damage left by the squatters.

The Denver Sheriff’s Department said it receives a high number of squatting eviction requests and is backlogged because of limited resources, according to the station.

Who is Tomeka Hart?

Tomeka Hart served as the foreperson on the jury that convicted former Trump associate Roger Stone in his trial for lying to Congress, obstruction and witness tampering related to the 2016 presidential campaign.

The former Memphis City Schools board president and ex-president and CEO of the Memphis Urban League, garnered national attention in February when President Trump tweeted that she showed “significant bias” after she defended four Justice Department prosecutors who abruptly stepped down when senior Justice Department officials intervened and lowered their sentencing recommendation for Stone.

“Now it looks like the fore person in the jury, in the Roger Stone case, had significant bias,” Trump tweeted Feb. 13. “Add that to everything else, and this is not looking good for the “Justice” Department.”

After Stone was sentenced to 40 months on Feb. 20, President Trump told an audience in Las Vegas that Stone had a good chance of being exonerated — and again criticized Hart.

“It’s my strong opinion that the forewoman of the jury, the woman who was in charge of the jury, is totally tainted,” Trump said. “When you take a look, how can you have a person like this? She was an anti-Trump activist. Can you imagine this?”

“It’s my strong opinion that the forewoman of the jury, the woman who was in charge of the jury, is totally tainted.”

— President Trump

“This is a woman who was an anti-Trump person, totally,” the president said later. ” .. She had a horrible social media account. The things she said on the account were unbelievable. She didn’t reveal that when she was chosen.”

TRUMP SAYS ROGER STONE HAS ‘VERY GOOD CHANCE OF EXONERATION’ IN LAS VEGAS

“I assume they asked her a question, ‘Do you have any bias?’ She didn’t say that, so is that an undermining of the court? You tell me.”

Previously, after the prosecutors in the Stone case stepped down, Hart posted on Facebook that she couldn’t “keep quiet any longer.”

“I want to stand up for Aaron Zelinsky, Adam Jed, Michael Marando, and Jonathan Kravis — the prosecutors on the Roger Stone trial,” Hart wrote in the post. “It pains me to see the DOJ now interfere with the hard work of the prosecutors. They acted with the utmost intelligence, integrity, and respect for our system of justice.”

“As foreperson, I made sure we went through every element, of every charge, matching the evidence presented in the case that led us to return a conviction of guilty on all 7 counts.”

Hart’s history of anti-Trump social media posts has included calling Trump supporters “racist” and quoting someone who referred to Trump as the “#KlanPresident.”

Fellow juror Seth Cousins defended their guilty verdict against Stone and said Hart was “perhaps the strongest advocate in the room for a rigorous process for the rights of the defendant and for making sure that we took it seriously and looked at each charge,” according to USA Today.

Hart, now based in Washington, D.C., is a senior program officer for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and has donated to Democrats, including Sen. Kamala Harris and former Obama Cabinet member Julian Castro, according to Heavy.

In 2012, she unsuccessfully ran for Congress in Tennessee as a Democrat.

She is also a former VP of strategic partnerships at the Southern Education Foundation, VP of African American community partnerships for Teach For America, and the president/CEO of the Memphis Urban League, according to her biography.

President Trump will see a 50 percent increase in support from African-American voters, Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., predicted Thursday.

“It will go from 8 percent in 2016 to a minimum of 12 percent in 2020,” Scott told “Your World“’s Neil Cavuto. Trump could even get support from as much as 15 percent of black voters, he said.

“And that is ‘Game over,’” he added.

Scott pointed to increases in black homeownership and Trump’s efforts on criminal justice reform as reasons why that support will likely increase.

AFRICAN-AMERICAN CONSERVATIVES RIP LIBERAL STEREOTYPES: ‘WE BOTH DON’T EXIST”

“Think about a top-tier Democratic candidate that talks about harassing African-American males through stop-and-frisk,” Scott said, referring to the controversial anti-crime policy employed by Democratic presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg when he was mayor of New York City. “Compare that against President Trump’s criminal justice reform packages that are making the justice system more fair for African-Americans disproportionally than it has been in a long time.”

Black unemployment numbers are also down and the number of black people working is up, he added.

“President Trump is not just talking a good game, he is walking a good game,” Scott said.

Scott’s optimism on behalf of the president contrasted sharply with what House Majority Whip James Clyburn, D-S.C., told Cavuto on Tuesday.

Clyburn said the president would “absolutely not” get more African-American support, adding he only gave Trump credit for continuing the economic growth started under the Obama administration.

Who won the Democratic debate Wednesday night? That’s easy, says U.S. Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C.: President Trump.

“We now know why they’ve spent so much time on impeachment because they don’t have a message that will resonate with the American people,” Meadows said on “Fox News @ Night.”

He added that former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg seemed unprepared for the barrage of attacks by his fellow candidates. “He was just really just blown away,” he said.

Meadows said Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., a self-proclaimed democratic socialist who leads in the polls, is “closer to Karl Marx than he is Carl Icahn.”

Sanders’ message, according to Meadows, is, “Let us make sure that we take everybody else’s money and distribute it to those who don’t have it. The only person who’s not distributing his money is Bernie Sanders.”

“There were a lot of blows that were given and a lot of shots taken. But actually, Bernie Sanders seemed to come away unscathed,” he added.

Meadows said he doesn’t think Sanders is unstoppable but he is the candidate to beat.

“He’s the one with the most momentum,” he told Fox News’ Mike Emanuel. “And as we see that Michael Bloomberg is not the one that’s going to take him on. Maybe somebody else on that debate stage tonight. But it just shows that a billion dollars doesn’t make you prepared for primetime because obviously Michael Bloomberg was not prepared tonight for even the simplest questions that he should have anticipated.”

Protesters shouting “You deported three million people,” interrupted former Vice President Joe Biden’s closing remarks during the Democratic debate in Las Vegas on Wednesday night.

RAICES Action, an immigrant rights group, took credit for the protest in a Twitter post that referenced the Obama administration’s deportation record.

The demonstrators also shouted “No kids in cages!” and “Don’t look away!” before they were removed from the theater, Vox reported.

“We disrupted the Democrat debate tonight because candidates have consistently refused to address the immigration crisis, and it’s simply not good enough,” the group said in a statement, according to The New York Times.

“We understand not everyone will agree with this form of protest, but we do this as a last resort: Thousands are locked in detention centers, over 60,000 who came here for asylum were sent back to Mexico under MPP, and they’re gutting over refugee programs. This is a humanitarian crisis.”

The group was among several organizations that wrote an open letter to the candidates before the debate, arguing the debates are ignoring the issue of immigration, The Times reported.

For the first time last week, Biden said it was a “big mistake” to deport more than a million people without criminal records.

“We took far too long to get it right,” the former vice president said in an interview with Univision’s Jorge Ramos.

Immigrants’ rights protesters have interrupted Biden and other candidates at previous debates as well, The Times reported.
