Saturday Night Live used to be funny. But it’s been hit or miss for a long time, with more miss than hit.

They could take a lesson from Greg Gutfeld and Tom Shillue.

It’s too common to parody President Donald Trump.

What you really need is a parody of the man who thinks he can conduct an impeachment without a vote on an inquiry, who thinks he can hold hearings in secret and the American people wouldn’t question it.

You need a parody of Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA).

Now some might say that Schiff himself is a parody of a congress person. And while there is something to be said for that, certainly, perhaps it’s good to have one that amuses us rather than one which infuriates us.

Shillue delivered a masterful impersonation of Schiff, right down to the eyes.

If you need a laugh, here you go.

Yikes, that’s pretty much straight on. Hilariously funny and downright creepy at the same time.

Although next time, Shillue should practice how to parody leaking out of committee meetings to media.

Gutfeld is right amidst the humor.

If Schiff really thinks he can take down a president and change election results because they lost, he’s going to find some very unhappy Americans giving him a very different message come November 2020.

And that’s no joke.

LIVE LONG AND FREEZE

I love Star Trek. The whole notion that we survive the mess we see the world in now and actually get to go for drinks on the moon and take a quick spin around Jupiter for fun is just a warm and fuzzy concept.

The show became part of our cultural DNA and the stars of the show went out to successful careers in other areas. Leonard Nimoy A.K.A. Mr. Spock was one of these Trek stars that found other things to do while not on the bridge of the Enterprise.

Nimoy hosted a fantastic show called “In Search Of…from 1978 until 1982 and it covered a wide range of topics that were explored. Material such as, is there a bigfoot, UFO’s and the lost city of Atlantis were some of its episodes.

They also in May of 1978 covered something according to their IMDb page called “In Search Of… The Coming Ice Age”. Of course, with all the interest of climate change and the 1.5-degree shift of getting warmer and all of us dying in less than 12 years ( Not my words ask A.O.C.  Ocasio-Cortez says the world will end in 12 years. She is absolutely right.) I was absolutely intrigued.

Below is a video clip from that show.

Below I have taken some short clips that Nimoy says here to add my stellar commentary.

The data shows that the average temperatures in the Arctic have fallen dramatically over the last 30 years. In most locations, the drop has been 2 degrees centigrade.

According to NOAA we are up almost 1.42 F since 2000. I’m gonna call this a draw.

The whole Northern hemisphere has grown steadily cooler.

Check the NOAA link above. I guess we are getting warmer. Which is really nice for Michigan in Feb.

If we are unprepared for the next advance ( Ice Age) the result could be hunger and death on a scale unprecedented in all of history.

Whether it is massive ice sheets rolling our way or Florida flooding out, it’s always doom and gloom with these people. How about the world comes together like in the movie Independence Day and either does a huge BBQ or use the ice for drinks. CMON PEOPLE.

What scientists are telling us now is the threat of an ice age is not as remote as they once thought.

Well, scientists are telling us something different now. Now I’m not gonna blame them here. They get stuff wrong like this all the time.

During the lifetime of our grandchildren, arctic cold and perpetual snow could turn most of the inhabitable portions of our planet into a polar desert.

Nimoy has 5 grandchildren and from what the scientists are telling us is that we will be all fried before frozen. I’m not sure which one is worse actually.

What does this all mean?

That 41 years ago a show on network television with a beloved actor who played a character that relied on “logic,” scared the crap out of a 9-year-old Duke, making me think the ice was going to kill my family and I.

They were not just wrong but fabulously wrong.

Now those that believe the current dire warnings will say the technology is better, the computer models are more accurate and we have learned so much since 1978.

Well, how about if we do this as a test. Get the current weather reports you do EXACTLY RIGHT for 30 days, then we can chat about making predictions 40 years or 12 years maybe even just 30 months into the future.

Back in 1978, the climate alarmists used an actor who played a Vulcan ( who is not supposed to lie) as a messenger to get people ginned up about impending doom. In 2019 they used a 16-year Lil kid to do the same thing. They were wrong in 1978 and I’m willing to bet Al Gores billions that he made on this fantasy that they are wrong now also.

Predicting the weather, stocks or what women are thinking when they are really mad is a dangerous proposition. Doing any one of these things is just…

Illogical.

AOC On Verge of Tears: ‘Dream of Motherhood is Bittersweet’ Because We Are On Brink of ‘Extinction’

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) took her climate show on the road on Friday, when she was in Copenhagen where she spoke at the C40 World Mayors Summit.

In her speech, she was near tears and railed against climate change, saying that our world was at the crossroads of “extinction” and that there could be no “middle road” in response.

From Daily Wire:

“The climate crisis is already here,” Ocasio-Cortez claimed. “On this note I speak to you not as an elected official or public figure, but I speak to you as a human being – a woman whose dreams of motherhood now taste bittersweet because of what I know about our children’s future, and that our actions are responsible for bringing their most dire possibilities into focus. I speak to you as a daughter and descendant of colonized peoples who have already begun to suffer.”

She blamed Hurricane Maria’s destruction in Puerto Rico in 2017 on climate change saying her own grandfather died “in the aftermath.”

Ocasio-Cortez claimed that the disaster was “all because they were living under colonial rule, which contributed to the dire conditions.” She claimed that this was happening to people who had already suffered so much because of “imperialism.”

On the contrary, as the facts have revealed, local corruption and the failure of the local government have badly affected the island for years, despite billions poured in by the federal government. Governor Richard Rosello even had to step down after massive protests by the people because of unhappiness over his response in part.

She then claimed that media coverage of such disasters fails to mention climate change as a cause when in fact, they often do even if there’s no factual basis to support it.

“It is not a coincidence that the truth is controversial,” Ocasio-Cortez continued. “None of this is a coincidence because climate change is not a coincidence or a scientific anomaly. Climate change is a consequence. It is a consequence of our unsustainable way of life.”

She spoke of fact and consensus but then claimed it was a fact that all three airports in New York would be flooded by 2080. She said if she had a child, “he, she or they,” would have to deal with a situation where their most critical infrastructure was underwater.

She decried the “runaway pursuit of profit” and argued that the only way to address climate change was to “change “society” and control the economy, on a level that had never been done before, to mobilize the change they desired.

But really it’s the other way around. The left and socialists need climate change to justify the radical desire to control the economy and completely change the system. That’s the real aim.

Here are a few facts from meteorologist Joe Bastardi for the non-scientist AOC.

Here We Go, Rudy Giuliani is Under Investigation for Foreign Lobbying Disclosure Violations

Westlake Legal Group trump-giuliani-AP-620x338 Here We Go, Rudy Giuliani is Under Investigation for Foreign Lobbying Disclosure Violations william barr Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko Rudy Giuliani President Trumo pete sessions Marie Yovanovitch Mainstream Media Lev Parnas john durham Impeachment of President Trump Igor Fruman Front Page Stories Featured Story donald trump democrats corruption Congress Campaigns Barack Obama Allow Media Exception Abuse of Power 2020 Nope, Not Gonna Do It

The New York Times reports that President Trump’s attorney, Rudy Giuliani, is under investigation by federal prosecutors in Manhattan for foreign lobbying disclosure violations. The charges stem from his efforts to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden, as well as the former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch, who was recalled in May, two months earlier than scheduled.

U.S. law requires American citizens to disclose to the DOJ “any contacts with the government or media in the United States at the direction or request of foreign politicians or government officials, regardless of whether they pay for the representation.”

Sources told the New York Times that this is related to the Wednesday night arrests (for campaign finance violations) of the two Ukrainian-American men who had allegedly helped facilitate Giuliani’s investigation of the Bidens and Ms. Yovanovitch.

Giuliani has denied wrongdoing. He has openly discussed his efforts to investigate the Bidens’ dealings in Ukraine and Ms. Yovanovitch’s efforts to undermine Trump in her capacity as the U.S. ambassador. He points out that he is the President’s attorney, and he works to defend his client.

When questioned by the Times, Giuliani said, “Look, you can try to contort anything into anything, but if they have any degree of objectivity or fairness, it would be kind of ridiculous to say I was doing it on [former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy] Lutsenko’s behalf when I was representing the President of the United States.”

Mr. Giuliani also told the Times he was unaware of any investigation into him, and “he defended the pressure campaign on Ukrainians, which he led, as legal and above board.” (This is not a direct quote from Giuliani, it is the Times’ version of what he said to them. I don’t believe Giuliani would characterize his actions as a “pressure campaign” on Ukrainians.)

Giuliani, who led the SDNY throughout much of the 1980s, has now become their target.

The Times’ piece can be viewed here. But, I must caution you, throughout the article, the writers leap to political conclusions that have not yet been established, which is to be expected from this newspaper.

For example, they write, “The associates were charged with funneling illegal contributions to a congressman whose help they sought in removing Ms. Yovanovitch.”

Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman made contributions to multiple candidates and political action committees, one of which was a $20,000 donation to former Rep. Pete Sessions’ (R-TX) 2018 campaign. The Times portrays it as if this was their sole transaction. The men have merely been charged and while help in removing Ms. Yovanovitch may have been the motive behind this contribution, it has not been proven. Until then, it remains an allegation.

Knowing that House Democrats are now exploiting the recall of Ms. Yovanovitch in their impeachment inquiry, the authors have given this subject top billing in their article, when the main focus of Giuliani’s investigation was the Bidens.

They write, “Mr. Lutsenko had sought to relay the information he had collected on Mr. Trump’s targets to American law enforcement agencies and saw Mr. Giuliani as someone who could make that happen.” The inference was that Lutsenko was trying to violate a law by giving this information to the U.S. government.

The real wrongdoing was the measures taken by government officials to prevent the Attorney General from receiving this information. Lutsenko and Shokin had tried on numerous occasions to do so. Ms. Yovanovitch is alleged to have tried to impede their efforts. No one in the Jeff Sessions DOJ would acknowledge this material. Lutsenko and Shokin even hired a retired U.S. attorney to hand deliver it to the current U.S. attorney of the SDNY, Geoffrey Berman. Still, it was not acknowledged.

With the exception of Giuliani, no one has bothered to examine President Trump’s reasons for Ms. Yovanovitch’s removal. Rather, they’ve jumped to the conclusion that she was wrongly recalled from her post to further the President’s personal political goals. She is alleged to have discredited the President abroad, blocked both U.S. and Ukrainian government efforts to investigate the Bidens, and to have presented Lutsenko with a “do not prosecute” list among other things.

In her prepared opening statement for her testimony before House lawmakers on Friday, she said Lutsenko had retracted that accusation. I looked for such a retraction and found only a long, muddled, wildly spun explanation from ABC Go which ended with the following:

Around the same time, Lutsenko indicated in an interview with a Russian-language news outlet that his initial account of Yovanovitch giving him a “do-not-prosecute list” was not accurate.

I wrote about this here.

ABC gives us an approximate time (around the same time), they don’t name the news outlet and they say only that his statement was not accurate. How was it inaccurate? That is not a retraction. And this makes Ms. Yovanovitch’s statement that Lutsenko had retracted his accusation at the very least, misleading, or more likely, false information.

If Lutsenko had truly retracted his statement, we would have heard about it and not from a Russian-language news outlet. The truth is that many officials inside the U.S. Embassy in Kiev were corrupt.

Finally, just as former FBI Director James Comey “served at the pleasure of the President” and could be removed for no reason at all, U.S. ambassadors “serve at the pleasure of the President.” If Trump wanted her removed because he didn’t like the way she looked at him, he could fire her. Yet Democrats are making this part of their impeachment inquiry. One Democrat recently called her ousting a “perversion of U.S. foreign policy.”

Democrats are employing the same tactics they used when they framed Trump for colluding with the Russians. Just as the deep state targeting Roger Stone and others in that investigation, they are now pursuing Rudy Giuliani. Same strategy, new names.

Next Friday, the DOJ Inspector General’s long-delayed report on FISA abuse is due to be released. Finally, Republicans will have some ammunition to fight back. The more comprehensive reports, those from Attorney General William Barr and Prosecutor John Durham, whose investigations have just expanded due to new evidence, may take some time.

Little Known Fact About What Adam Schiff Does in His Spare Time Tells Us Much About His Political Theatrics

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., talks to reporters about the release by the White House of a transcript of a call between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelenskiy, at the Capitol in Washington, Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2019. (AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite)

During a recent Congressional hearing on the Trump/Zelensky whistleblower complaint, House Intel Committee Chair Adam Schiff (D-CA) despicably engaged in a parody reading of the call’s transcript, just outright making up things about the call that weren’t said.

Republicans were rightly outraged over the theatrical stunt for two reasons: 1) It made a mockery of the seriousness of the hearings and 2) The words weren’t Trump’s. At all.

As even Democrat journalist George Stephanopoulos noted when correcting House Speaker Pelosi’s comments on the issue last week, Schiff’s accounting of the call was his interpretation of it, not what was actually said.

While Schiff’s penchant for fabricating stories about the Trump administration and other Republicans is not exactly a new development, a little known fact about him reported by NPR this week explains quite a bit about his drama queen tendencies:

He’s an amateur screenwriter

Schiff was born in Massachusetts but represents Hollywood, so why not, right? His first screenplay was called, Remnant, which Schiff told The New Yorker “was a post-Holocaust story.” He then wrote a murder-mystery called Minotaur, and is now working on a “spy drama.”

None of his screenplays have sold.

“I had a friend who was a producer,” Schiff told The New Yorker, “and he said there were two answers in Hollywood — ‘Yes’ and ‘Here’s a check.’ I was getting lots of yeses.”

After NPR posted a tweet with a link to their piece on Schiff and noted he was an “amateur screenwriter”, Twitter users understandably had some thoughts:

It all makes so much more sense now. Doesn’t make what he’s doing in Congress right, though. But it does help explain quite a bit.

Adam Schiff’s Committee Employs at Least Two Former Colleagues of the Whistleblower So Was There Collusion

(AP Photo/Alex Brandon, File)

Little by little we’re learning a lot more about the process that led to the “whistleblower” complaint to come to the attention of Adam Schiff’s goons and what we’re seeing isn’t all that pretty.

What we know is that the whistleblower was a CIA analyst who was seconded to the National Security Council during the last part of the Obama administration. In that position, he frequently briefed then-Vice President Joe Biden. He left the NSC sometime around the time that the Trump administration came in (my gut is not that long afterwards but I don’t know that for a fact) and returned to the CIA. What is apparent in his own statement is that he only learned about the conversation in question because he was gossiping with people about it…people who had a duty not to divulge what they’d heard in their official duties to people not cleared to have that information.

So we have a good idea of how the “whistleblower” came into contact with the information. But now we have an additional wrinkle.

We’ve known all along that Adam Schiff’s office was intimately involved in developing this complaint. So involved, in fact, that Adam Schiff will be an actual witness in any impeachment trial:

Lindsey Graham Says Whistleblowers Will Have No Anonymity and Adam Schiff Will Be a Witness in Any Impeachment Trial

Now we’re seeing that Schiff’s committee has much deeper ties to the whistleblower.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff recruited two former National Security Council aides who worked alongside the CIA whistleblower at the NSC during the Obama and Trump administrations, the Washington Examiner has learned.

Abigail Grace, who worked at the NSC until 2018, was hired in February, while Sean Misko, an NSC aide until 2017, joined Schiff’s committee staff in August, the same month the whistleblower submitted his complaint.

It would seem that the whistleblower approached former colleagues with his gripes, it wasn’t just a call to a random number on committee staff. This personal acquaintance with the whistleblower goes a long way towards explaining Adam Schiff blatant lie about the contact his staff…if not himself, personally…had with the whistleblower.

While Grace seems somewhat normal, there is no doubt that she’s very much a progressive:

Grace, 36, was hired to help Schiff’s committee investigate the Trump White House. That month, Trump accused Schiff of “stealing people who work at White House.” Grace worked at the NSC from 2016 to 2018 in U.S.-China relations and then briefly at the Center for a New American Security think tank, which was founded by two former senior Obama administration officials.

Misko seems like quite a piece of work. The kind of unethical staffer who has no compunction about lying to get his way rather than presenting his honest assessment and letting the boss decide.

Misko, 37, worked in the Obama administration as a member of the secretary of state’s policy planning staff under Deputy Chief of Staff Jake Sullivan, who became Hillary Clinton’s top foreign policy official during her 2016 presidential campaign. In 2015, Misko was the director for the Gulf states at the NSC, remaining there into the Trump administration’s first year.

The same source said that Misko had not been trusted by Trump appointees. “There were a few times where documents had been signed off for final editing before they go to the national security adviser for signature,” the source said. “And he actually went in and made changes after those changes were already finished. So he basically tried to insert, without his boss’s approval.

“There were meetings in which he protested very heavily and next thing you know there’s an article in the paper about the contents of that meeting.” Misko often clashed with other NSC personnel at meetings, another source said. Both Grace and Misko were close to Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, Trump’s national security adviser from Feb. 2017 until May 2018.

The article notes that both staffers have a duty to not divulge privileged executive branch information they had access to while on the NSC as if that were more than a Trivial Pursuit question. People with access to secret material who gossip about that information with people ho aren’t cleared are hardly likely to be restrained in how they use it to further political ends. And when you have people who have access to that privileged material who are openly hostile to the president (tell me another joke about a non-partisan civil service) and have been hired to investigate him will hardly let a mere pledge stand it their way.

A better theory is that the whistleblower knew he had two former colleagues who were fervent Democrats and working to investigate Trump. He heard scuttlebutt that he perceived might be harmful to Trump if packaged in the right way. He approached them on a strategy to maximize the damage. And here we are. The only question outstanding, other than the name of the whistleblower, is the degree to which Schiff’s staff wrote the complaint itself.

The Washington Times reported earlier this week about a recent visit Squad leader and admitted socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) made to a DC salon that ended up being pricey:

The self-declared socialist, who regularly rails against the rich and complains about the cost of living inside the Beltway, spent nearly $300 on her hairdo at a pricey salon she frequents in downtown Washington, The Washington Times has learned.

The New York Democrat ventured into Last Tangle Salon on 19th Street Northwest last month and shelled out $80 for a haircut and $180 for lowlights, according to sources familiar with the salon.

A 20% tip would have added $52 to the bill.

The article also noted less expensive places she could have chosen to have her hair done.

There was a predictable debate on social media as to whether or not this was even newsworthy. But given her “spread the wealth” philosophy, her frequent rants against “privileged” people, and how often she complains about DC living expenses and paying off her student loan debt, I think the story was totally worth covering:

“AOC is the Eva Peron of American politics. She preaches socialism while living the life of the privileged,” said Richard Manning, president of Americans for Limited Government, referencing the former first lady of Argentina who was known for dressing in designer gowns and jewels while advocating a socialist agenda.

“There is nothing wrong with spending money to make yourself look better, especially as a personality who depends upon visual mediums for her power. But it is a bad look to spend hundreds of dollars to get your hair done to make a video decrying income inequality,” Mr. Manning said.

Mr. Manning made excellent points, but as you might have guessed already, AOC didn’t feel the same way.

She ranted about it on her Twitter feed Thursday morning and Thursday night for good measure.

Here are the two responses that stood out to me:

First things first: Ocasio-Cortez’s quip about how “they’re just mad we look good doing it” is laughable for a number of reasons, some of which I mentioned above (because it’s not really about a haircut). It’s also hilarious considering she had a mini-meltdown over the “glamour shot” photo the New York Times used in an article they did about former White House communications director Hope Hicks a few months ago.

Yet just days after her Hope Hicks tweets, the freshman Congresswoman hypocritically complained about how women’s looks are sometimes used against them in order to belittle them (though AOC is totally not against using a woman’s looks against her when it suits her political purposes).

In her second tweet Thursday about HaircutGate, she said “I wonder if Republicans care about corruption as much as they care about a woman’s cut & color”, because playing the woman card is one of the things AOC does best when she has no good defense.

Guess she didn’t notice that the very same Washington Times article she railed against for daring to write “about a woman’s cut and color” also mentioned other notorious instances where the haircuts of male and female politicians made the news:

The 2016 Democratic presidential nominee, Hillary Clinton, splurged $600 on a hairdo during the campaign, prompting Vanity Fair to ask in a headline: “Is $600 too much for a haircut?”

Former Sen. John Edwards, who ran for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination and was the 2004 vice presidential nominee, was known to pay more than $500 to his hairstylist. President Bill Clinton’s $200 haircut in 1993 at Los Angeles International Airport made headlines when two of the airport’s runways had to be shut down for nearly an hour during the procedure.

Let’s also not forget the endless parade of articles on President Trump’s hair. And First Lady Melania Trump’s fashion choices.

As usual, AOC stepped on a rake bigly in a desperate attempt at deflecting a legitimate criticism. Not the first time, and won’t be the last.

Instead of playing CNN’s “gotcha” games, Ernst took a wait and see approach, stating she needed to see all the facts first when the time comes for the Senate to play their part instead of just relying on (biased) media reports.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi took issue with Ernt’s comments, and chided Republicans like Ernst for having the audacity to want to see all information first before drawing any definitive conclusions. Here’s what Pelosi tweeted out Thursday:

The irony of Nancy Pelosi talking about how elections should be decided by Americans rubbed Ernst the wrong way, and she absolutely let Pelosi have it:

I believe that was the Iowa equivalent of “bless your heart.”

Ernst is right. Prominent Republicans in the House are making it clear this is a show trial/”clown show” type of impeachment inquiry because they’ve seen more of the evidence and witness testimony, in spite of the fact that they’ve deliberately been excluded from large parts of the process because Pelosi won’t hold an actual floor vote on an inquiry.

Senators don’t have access to all of the same information yet, even though they’ll get their chance soon enough the way everything appears to be going.

Democrats have spent the entirety of Trump’s time in office – and even before he was elected – crafting ways for him to be impeached. They’ve used the threat of impeachment as a political tool to settle their political differences with Republicans and Trump. Impeachment was not meant to be used for that purpose. That’s what elections are for.

Pelosi, who this time around is leading the impeachment effort and who called for the inquiry before the actual transcript of the call between Trump and Zelensky was even released, is the very last person who should be lecturing anyone on how elections should be decided.

New Yorkers, Get Ready for Congresswoman Chelsea Clinton

On Thursday, Rep. Nita Lowey (D-NY), who is 82, announced her retirement. In a statement, she said:

After 31 years in the United States Congress, representing the people of Westchester, Rockland, Queens and the Bronx, I have decided not to seek re-election in 2020.

It is my deep honor and privilege to serve my community and my country, and I will always be grateful to the people who have entrusted me to represent them. I am proud of the help my office has provided to thousands of constituents on matters ranging from health insurance and veterans’ benefits to Social Security and student loans.

Take heart, New Yorkers. Though Chelsea Clinton actually lives in Manhattan, the New York Post reported last fall that her loving parents had the foresight to purchase the house next door to theirs in Chappaqua for Chelsea and her family. All Chelsea has to do is to declare that house as her legal residence, and presto, she’s qualified to represent the district in Congress. Kind of like how her mother bought a house in the state so she could run for the Senate in 2000.

In November, the Post reported that Chelsea was considering a run for public office. The Clintons have apparently been waiting for this very opportunity. Though I’m sure Chelsea would have preferred to make her political debut in the Senate, opportunity has knocked and she will likely answer.

I wonder if Lowey was truly ready to retire or if she needed a little persuading. You know how good the Clintons are at that kind of thing.

If Chelsea serves a term or two in the House, then a term in the Senate, she could be ready for the presidency by 2028 or certainly by 2032. Oh, what fun!

Congress Blasts the NBA for Kowtowing to China, As More Fans Are Ejected for Supporting Hong Kong

With all the rancor in Washington, it’s nice to see issues where Democrats and Republicans seem to be able to come together and take a unified stand.

Both the left and the right came together to rip the NBA for pandering to China and stopping speech of Americans critical of China and/or supportive of Hong Kong protesters.

According to a draft of their letter obtained by CNN, the bipartisan group which included Reps. Tom Malinowksi, Mike Gallagher, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jim Banks, and Sens. Ben Sasse, Ron Wyden, Tom Cotton, and Ted Cruz blasted the NBA.

“It is outrageous that the Chinese Communist Party is using its economic power to suppress the speech of Americans inside the United States,” they said. “It is also outrageous that the NBA has caved to Chinese government demands for contrition.”

They noted such concession would only inspire China to further intimidate free speech.

The members continued, saying the NBA “should have anticipated the challenges of doing business in a country run by a repressive single party government—including by being prepared to stand in strong defense of the freedom of expression of its employees, players, and affiliates across the globe.”

The letter observed that the NBA is not silent when it came to speaking out on American “social justice” issues, noting “it is easy to defend freedom of speech when it costs you nothing, equivocating when profits are at stake is a betrayal of fundamental American values.

The members also pointed out, “You have more power to take a stand than most of the Chinese government’s targets” and they should stand for freedom because it’s those very rights that have afforded them their success.

They also set forth a list of things they’d like to see from the NBA.

But the NBA is already having more trouble. As Twitchy noted, more fans were tossed out at a Wizards game last night with the Guangzhou Loong-Lions after the fans chanted slogans, held up signs “Shame on the NBA,” “Free Speech is a universal value,” and “South Park was right,” and wore shirts reading “Free Hong Kong.”

Security confiscated a “Free Hong Kong” sign from protesters sporting the t-shirts as the national anthem was being played.

Jon Schweppe, @JonSchweppe, who is with the American Principles Project, was part of the group and took the videos.

The protesters also had a sign “Google Uyghurs” confiscated.

The Uyghurs are a group of Chinese Muslims who have been greatly persecuted by the Chinese government and locked up in concentration camps.

Fans were ejected for similar actions the night before at a Philadelphia 76ers game with the same Chinese team.

More such actions are being planned by fans.

The NBA needs to take the hint from Congress or they may find a more important market rejecting them than that of China, in addition to throwing American values under the bus.
