Resolution Introduced in House to Expel Nancy Pelosi

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., talks to reporters during her weekly news conference, on Capitol Hill in Washington, Thursday, June 7, 2018. House Democrats may be trying to ram through impeachment in secret with an anonymous whistleblower.

But although Republicans are outnumbered in the House, they are fighting back.

First, they filed a resolution to censure Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA). The resolution has 61 co-sponsors at last count, with prominent names including the House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA).

Now, they’re also fighting back against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) who allowed this travesty to get so far.

Rep. Ralph Abraham (R-LA) has introduced a resolution to expel Pelosi from the House.

From Fox News:

“Nancy Pelosi’s vicious crusade against our lawfully-elected President is nothing more than a politically-motivated witch hunt and it must be stopped,” Abraham said in a statement. “She has disgraced the people’s House and weaponized the Speaker’s gavel for her party’s political gain.”

Abraham added: “House Democrats spent nearly three years obsessed with election meddling only to dwarf any such efforts with their own deceitful plan to nullify the 2016 election and prevent President Trump from winning in 2020. I have introduced a resolution calling for her to be expelled from the House and for the Speaker’s Office to be vacated.”

The White House is fighting back as well.

They refused to let the U.S. EU Ambassador Gordon Sondland testify before a House panel and they sent a stern letter back to the House, making it clear they regarded the inquiry as illegitimate and unconstitutional.

“I would love to send Ambassador Sondland, a really good man and great American, to testify, but unfortunately he would be testifying before a totally compromised kangaroo court, where Republican’s rights have been taken away, and true facts are not allowed out for the public to see,” Trump wrote on Twitter. ….

Adam Schiff of course immediately claimed the refusal constituted obstruction.

But Trump chastised Democrats calling what they were doing to the country “unthinkable.”

“It’s lucky that I’m the president,” he declared. “A lot of people said very few people could handle it. I sort of thrive on it,” Trump said Monday at the White House. “You can’t impeach a president for doing a great job. This is a scam.”

John Durham and Bill Barr Have Expanded Their Investigation Into the Trump-Russia Fiasco

Just when you think Bill Barr and John Durham aren’t going to deliver anything worthwhile, we go and get leaks like this that re-peak my interest.

As we’ve known for most of the year now, the DOJ is currently conducting a probe of the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation. This includes possible corruption in the FISA process, as well as the improper surveillance of Trump and his campaign. Except now it appears they aren’t just looking into the origins anymore. A new report is saying that the investigation has expanded to cover post the inauguration.

John Durham, the U.S. attorney reviewing the origins of the 2016 counterintelligence investigation into Russia and the Trump campaign, is probing a wider timeline than previously known, according to multiple senior administration officials.

Fox News previously reported that Durham would be reviewing the days leading up to the 2016 election and through the inauguration.

However, based on what he has been finding, Durham has expanded his investigation adding agents and resources, the senior administration officials said. The timeline has grown from the beginning of the probe through the election and now has included a post-election timeline through the spring of 2017, up to when Robert Mueller was named special counsel.

The highlighted portion is key. What exactly has he been finding that’s led to a widening of the probe when we all expected it to be contracting?

We do know that a lot went on in the weeks following Trump being sworn in, eventually culminating with the firing of partisan hacks like Sally Yates, who finds herself at the center of much of the action taken after Trump was elected in November. Yates, along with a cabal of Obama officials, were working diligently to plant the seeds of the Russia collusion hoax and lay the groundwork for what would engulf the new administration for over two years.

Of course, we also know that James Comey and company were still renewing FISA warrants months after the inauguration and they were no more backed by evidence than the original ones.

I will say this. I’ve been very skeptical of Barr dropping the hammer on anyone here, but it does appear that he’s going after many of the aspects that have been previously ignored. While I think the IG report will fall flat (it is an Obama appointee after all and Horowitz did his best to whitewash his last report on the Hillary investigation), perhaps the DOJ will end up bringing about some justice here?

We’ll find out.

White House lawyer sends letter to Dems: We cannot cooperate with your very unfair impeachment probe

Westlake Legal Group n White House lawyer sends letter to Dems: We cannot cooperate with your very unfair impeachment probe Trump The Blog sondland pelosi nadler impeachment House executive privilege executive democrats cipollone

You already know what this is about. Trump previewed it in his tweets this morning defending his decision to block Gordon Sondland from testifying. The White House has decided that it’s done cooperating with the House’s impeachment probe — and not for any traditional legal reason, really, like executive privilege, although White House counsel Pat Cipollone does include that in his list of grievances in this eight-page rant. It’s done cooperating because, it says, the probe is simply too unfair. It’s too secretive, it’s too one-sided, it hasn’t been properly authorized via a formal House vote. Trump’s not getting due process, Cipollone argues, therefore the White House is no longer required to comply with subpoenas or make anyone available to testify.

Coincidentally, they’ve arrived at this decision at the very moment that Sondland, a firsthand witness who once allegedly told Ron Johnson that there was a quid pro quo happening with Ukraine, was about to talk.

You can read the whole thing here. Most of it resembles a talk-radio monologue, not a letter from the White House counsel, which is befitting of its true nature. This is a PR document aimed to rally righties around Trump as he goes about obstructing the probe, not something for Democratic lawyers to mull over. Cipollone dispenses with the legal claims in Section I, which runs only a few pages. Here’s the bottom line:

Westlake Legal Group 1 White House lawyer sends letter to Dems: We cannot cooperate with your very unfair impeachment probe Trump The Blog sondland pelosi nadler impeachment House executive privilege executive democrats cipollone

And again a bit later:

Westlake Legal Group 2-1 White House lawyer sends letter to Dems: We cannot cooperate with your very unfair impeachment probe Trump The Blog sondland pelosi nadler impeachment House executive privilege executive democrats cipollone

What this is, in other words, is a constitutional crisis pitting the House’s authority to pursue impeachment of the president against a variety of claims by the White House — due process, for starters, and executive privilege secondarily. It’s highly likely that House Democrats would win that battle if it went to court, that judges would decide that the House has broad discretion in how to conduct impeachment proceedings and that the issue is generally nonjusticiable. The alternative, a win for Trump, would grant future presidents the power to short-circuit any impeachment proceeding by identifying alleged unfairness and using that as a pretext to withhold evidence. Probably a court will say that Sondland should testify and the White House should turn over requested materials and then plead its case about fairness to the two juries in impeachment — the Senate, first and foremost, and the electorate more generally. It’ll be especially hard for Cipollone to convince a court to side with the White House, I think, given that the Senate is controlled by the president’s own party. If Trump were at risk of being railroaded by a Democratic-controlled Congress, that might give a judge pause, As it is, everything in this letter can and will be cited by Republican senators as reasons to acquit Trump once the matter reaches them.

Some critics of the letter this evening are predictable…

…others are marginally more interesting:

Nunziata used to be Marco Rubio’s counsel. As for what Democrats do now, in a sense it doesn’t matter: Trump knows he’s getting impeached one way or another so he’s seizing the opportunity here to put some meat on the bone for his “witch hunt” defense once it happens. Having Cipollone do it instead of the White House comms department is smart too since it gives him some (self-serving) legal authority for the claim. It’s not just Trump who says it’s a witch hunt, it’s his own extremely well-respected attorney!

Pelosi’s going to have to make a choice and it comes down to this.

1. Impeach Trump for obstruction immediately. She’d rather not do that since it would take the focus off his Ukraine behavior and turn public opinion into a referendum on whether the impeachment process was fair or not. At a minimum, if Dems go this route, they’ll impeach him for obstruction *and* for making the Biden request to Zelensky, irrespective of whether there was a quid pro quo. The advantage of impeaching him ASAP is that it’ll save time, as Pelosi doesn’t want the process dragging on for months so that Republicans can argue that voters should settle it at the ballot box instead.

2. Start holding people in contempt and fight Trump on that point first. Some Trump cronies are practically begging her to do so:

Does Rudy think he has a free-floating privilege not to cooperate with Democrat-run probes? He’s not a member of the administration so he can’t rightly claim executive privilege. His work for Trump in Ukraine appears to have been diplomatic, not legal, so there’s no attorney/client privilege. If Giuliani won’t cough up documents, Pelosi may have to hold him in contempt. Same goes for Sondland if he won’t testify. Dems might even consider the nuclear option of “inherent contempt,” in which they impose their own sanctions on uncooperative witnesses without court help (up to and including imprisonment). But an aggressive offensive involving contempt risks bolstering Trump’s claim that Democrats have resorted to dubious procedures to prosecute their vendetta against him. If Trump is running around telling voters that Pelosi has gone crazy with Trump-hatred, what are they going to conclude if she has Rudy Giuliani thrown in the congressional brig or whatever? Trump was right!

The other problem with contempt is that it’ll be challenged in court and that could drag out for much longer than Pelosi wants. There’s an upside to it too, of course: Nothing would validate the impeachment inquiry in the public’s eyes like having a court, especially the Supreme Court, side with Democrats on the constitutional dispute. But there’s no telling if the courts will review the matter urgently because of its national significance. And of course Pelosi’s taking a big risk counting on a conservative-leaning SCOTUS to side with her against Trump. I think it’s worth the risk to her to go this route, though, knowing that John Roberts is highly unlikely to join a 5-4 party-line vote in Trump’s favor given his worries about perceptions of the Court’s independence. And a favorable SCOTUS ruling for Dems might be the only thing that can really damage Trump’s and Cipollone’s claim that this is a procedural fiasco. Winning a court battle will give the inquiry legitimacy. But at the expense of time.

In Revolt Against What They Believe to be a Political Attack, Police Officers in Minnesota are Banding Together to Support Trump

Police officers are often present at protests. But have you ever heard of them doing the protesting?

Law enforcement officers who endorse the President are making a move. And it’s a bit of a rallying one, but in good taste.

The day after Trump announced an upcoming Minneapolis rally, the department passed down a spankin’ new edict: You can’t wear your uniforms to political events.

John Elder, a police spokesman, explained to USA Today that the rule is in place to prevent confusion:

“The uniform gets translated back to the average person as someone being from the police department. It’s very confusing for people when they see someone in uniform to understand the difference between the city and the [police union].”

The head of the local union was unimpressed. In his view, the ban was simply a way for Democrats in charge to prevent a show of boys(and girls)-in-blue GOP support.

A show, incidentally, the President would probably be expecting:

Trump often surrounds himself with men and women in uniform, both in the White House and on the campaign trail. He has has long painted himself as a pro-law enforcement president, ranging from his sharp criticism of NFL player protests during the national anthem over police brutality to the Department of Justice’s slowed pace of civil rights investigations into local police departments.

In February at the Major County Sheriffs and the Major Cities Chiefs Association Joint Conference, he renewed his commitment to law enforcement, vowing to make “officer safety a top priority.”

“In my administration, we understand that reducing crime begins with respecting law enforcement. We will not tolerate smears, or slanders or assaults on those who wear the badge and police our streets,” he said.

Right. So what’s a policing Trump fan to do?

Well, the answer is a colorful one.

As indicated by Lt. Bob Kroll, president of the Police Officers Federation of Minneapolis, The Donald will be bolstered by lotsa law enforcement dudes and dudettes sporting red “Cops for Trump” shirts.

The Commander-in-Chief is psyched about the impending Red Sea:

The group’s got quite the famous salesperson:

As I wait for that, stay tuned for the Minnesota rally: All those shirts you see will be folks who Protect and Serve stickin’ it — in their minds — to the Powers That Bemoan Beelzebub.

To many of his critics, he’s Satan. But to those who believe in Making America Great Again, he’s just the good ol’ President of the United States.

Bob Barr, Who Served as Impeachment Manager for Clinton’s Trial, Speaks Out on Whether Trump is Impeachable

Westlake Legal Group washington-monument-1628558_1280-620x319 Bob Barr, Who Served as Impeachment Manager for Clinton’s Trial, Speaks Out on Whether Trump is Impeachable white house washington D.C. volodymyr zelensky Uncategorized Ukraine Politics Impeachment of President Trump impeachment Government Front Page Stories elections donald trump democrats Campaigns Bob Barr biden Andrew Napolitano Allow Media Exception

Bob Barr knows a thing or two about impeachment.

The former Georgia representative and federal prosecutor served as impeachment manager in the Senate trial of Bill “It depends upon what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is” Clinton.

In an editorial for The Daily Caller, Bob lays it out: The facts as we know them regarding Trump’s July 25th phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky simply don’t add up to impeachment.

No federal laws were broken, he explains. The President didn’t even get near an impeachable offense.

In fact, in Bob’s view, Trump was doing exactly what he should — telling Ukraine the White House was geting serious about corruption:

Our president made clear he was referring to evidence that Ukrainian interests had been involved corruptly in our 2016 election, and that a high government official in our country — former Vice President Joe Biden — had improperly interfered with that country’s effort to discover and prosecute corrupt acts.

Of course, not everyone feels the same — perhaps not entirely coincidentally, a lot of those are Democrats.

But Bob particularly addresses Libertarian Andrew Napolitano’s claim that the call’s transcript incriminates the President in terms of both federal violation and impeachable offense.

Indeed, Andrew believes Trump’s actions are a bullseye:

But Bob says Biden ‘s involvement is incidental, and it doesn’t rightfully prevent Trump from taking care of business:

The fact that one focus of Trump’s demands that Ukraine clean up its act as a prerequisite to continued support from America might also involve an individual now seeking to challenge Trump for the presidency, does not in any way diminish or undercut the propriety of Trump’s insistence that the Ukrainian president take steps to get to the bottom of what corruption already had occurred involving the two countries; and also to ensure that going forward the same corrupt acts would not recur.

To claim, as many have done — including Napolitano — that it is a crime for Trump to insist that Ukraine investigate past corrupt acts involving the United States, and that the country stop doing so moving forward, simply because Joe Biden now has chosen to challenge Trump politically next year, undercuts the very power of a president to protect our country from foreign interference and to investigate corrupt acts by former U.S. officials. Biden is deserving of no such self-imposed immunity.

Interesting point.

The former congressman labels the call for impeachment “absurd.”

It certainly does, in my view, look to be far from advantageous for Democrats. But they’re in the soup now.

Trump’s adversaries have talked so big that it appears detrimental to turn back now. At the same time, though, they’re killing Biden as a candidate in the process.

What’s better — to come up with a way for you to win, or to obsess over making your opponent lose? Dems have gone with the latter, and they’re only serving up another GOP victory and 4 more years of writhing in electoral agony.

If they hate Trump so much, it seems they should’ve been turning over every rock in America in order to come up with a superior offering for 2020. Concurrently, they could’ve given the country positive legislative changes to bolster their claim of superiority.

Instead, it’s been years of firing arrows at The Donald.

But he’s hard to hit…because he has moves:

Many folks thought Hillary had ’em, but I think they ended up coming across as too weird:

And now, here we are. And Bob believes Trump should be fine.

“Trump was acting responsibly and presidential,” he insists. “He deserves our appreciation, not our opprobrium.”

Do you agree?

There has been a lot of chatter in the country for the last 2 weeks in regards to El Presidente 45 and his alleged quid pro quo with the Ukrainians from his July 25th phone call. According to the theory, Trump was pushing at, we give you military aid and you dig up some dirt on Joe Biden and his wayward kid who scored a really cool paying gig for breathing.

However, in all the news coverage that I have consumed, there has been one thing missing and I can’t seem to find it.

Where is the payoff to the Trump team?

In a murder investigation, you have to have a body to declare it a “murder investigation” and it really helps if you have the weapon also. In this case, though, we have a conversation in July and the money being released in Septemeber. We don’t have anything showing that something was exchanged for that money.

Where is that info?

Now, I know my friends on the left side of the aisle will say that is what the investigation is for. However, the Ukrainians have denied that anything was ever sent. If they kept quiet I could see some trouble coming. Yet why would the newly elected President of Ukraine lie about this?

As an example of a clear cut, you do this and you will get this, we will go to Vox and see what Joe Biden said he did while Vice President…

So in 2016, Biden told the Ukrainian government that their loan guarantees would be cut off unless they removed Shokin. He told the story at a session at the Council on Foreign Relations in 2018.

“I said, ‘You’re not getting the billion.’ I’m going to be leaving here in, I think it was about six hours,” Biden said. “I looked at them and said: ‘I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money.’”

The former vice president said after the threat, “Well, son of a bitch, he got fired. And they put in place someone who was solid at the time.”

He helped get the prosecutor fired in exchange for money from the United States. This may not be against the law but it sure seems quid pro-quo-ish to me.

I went farther into the Vox article to see if maybe they had any clue to what was the gift that the Trump administration received and WHEN it was. Here is what they said…

The Trump administration initially told Congress it was releasing the aid to Ukraine on February 28. It repeated that assertion to Congress again on May 23, but failed to explain to lawmakers but struggled to explain — both publicly and to the lawmakers who approved the aid — exactly why the funds were withheld.

Even Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell couldn’t get a straight answer from Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Defense Secretary Mark Esper over the summer on why the aid hadn’t been dispersed yet.

But then on September 11, the Trump administration suddenly disbursed the money.

So what changed? It’s not entirely clear.

The last line there, that we do not know what changed being it is not clear, is telling.

Government is not a smooth-running machine contrary to what anyone that thinks it is a savior believes. The Trump administration though makes the everyday “normal” running of government look like it is standing still. They are playing whack a mole and it can get confusing and hectic.

Yet the Federal government delays things all the time. After reading the transcript myself and playing devil’s advocate and pretending I want Joe Bidens head on a plater, I can see where people would want to say Trump was arm twisting. So then to complete the process we need to see where the goods were delivered after the money was released.

Where is the quo in the quid-pro?

If you find it please let me know.

Elizabeth Warren Doubles Down On Pregnancy Lie As Republicans Pounce and Stuff

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., speaks at the Iowa State Fair, Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019, in Des Moines, Iowa. (AP Photo/John Locher)

Yesterday, I shared a report that provided documented evidence that Elizabeth Warren was never fired for being pregnant back in the early 1970s. It’s an anecdote she’s made a centerpiece of her campaign stump speeches, having shared it dozens of times going back to the beginning of this year. Essentially, she claims that upon the principal of her school noticing she was pregnant, he pushed her out the door.

Minutes of an April 21, 1971, Riverdale Board of Education meeting obtained by the Washington Free Beacon show that the board voted unanimously on a motion to extend Warren a “2nd year” contract for a two-days-per-week teaching job. That job is similar to the one she held the previous year, her first year of teaching. Minutes from a board meeting held two months later, on June 16, 1971, indicate that Warren’s resignation was “accepted with regret.”

In reality, not only was Warren not fired, the school board (as shown by the documented minutes) offered her an extension on her previous employment contract. Two months later, Warren herself resigned, likely because she wanted a different position which she would later admit in 2007 she wasn’t qualified for.

In short, the entire story she’s been telling in pure nonsense. So what does she do? Why, double down of course.

I’d say this is unbelievable, but what does she really have to lose? She can continue to make this false claim with total immunity. For the past few days, the mainstream media have refused to even touch the story. It wasn’t until Warren doubled down that they even decided to mention it. This only came in the context of parroting her words uncritically.

You see, it’s actually Republicans that are at fault here for pointing out that she lied. It was an affront to human decency for the Free Beacon to “challenge” Warren on the matter.

The framing here is just ludicrous. She didn’t refute anything and that “conservative news site” provided actual evidence she is lying. What’s The New York Times do? Shrug their shoulders and say there’s nothing they can do here. She denied lying and that’s that in their eyes.

Meanwhile, her defenders have spread out onto the airwaves and editorial pages to shill for her as well.

In that interview, they come to the conclusion that Warren’s story “holds water” because there’s generalized evidence that something like Warren claims could have happened. Never mind the documents showing otherwise or Warren’s own words in 2007, MSNBC is in it to win it. The “anchor” doesn’t push back at all and instead nods along and agrees.

With Warren now overtaking Biden for the national lead in the Democratic primary, you can expect the hack level to be turned up to eleven in the legacy media. There’s no lie to big, no scandal too damaging for them to actually cover if they feel like it might harm Elizabeth Warren. She is the chosen one and they are going to escort her to the finish line. Whether that works in the general election is another matter. Trump will make sure every bit of dirty laundry the Massachusetts Senator has is aired out.

Since Rasmussen reported Monday that a potential Trump vs. Clinton matchup would be “neck and neck” if she was running for president again at this very moment, there’s been some chatter on social media as to whether or not Hillary Clinton should consider giving it another try.

She’d be late to the game if she did, considering we’re just a few months away from the first round of primaries and caucuses. But it would give her a chance at revenge for what she’s routinely claimed without evidence for a couple of years now now: That the 2016 election was “stolen” from her.

With that in mind, we turn to a tweet from President Trump from earlier today in which he encouraged his former opponent to throw her hat into the ring:

Just a few hours later, Clinton responded:

“Don’t tempt me” is about as close as she’ll come to admitting she’s still considering a late entrance into the 2020 field. She’s been on a book promo tour with daughter Chelsea for the last several weeks, and she’s done numerous interviews with Democrat-friendly media outlets and programs like “The View”, People magazine, and CBS News. Their coverage of her could not possibly be more fawning.

Months in advance of her 2016 announcement she was telling the mainstream media she wasn’t going to run, but she ended up doing exactly that. And once she won the nomination she was convinced she had the presidency in the bag.

But she didn’t.

She would love nothing more than to get a second go at Trump for two reasons: 1) She wants to be the woman who breaks the glass ceiling and 2) She seriously believes he’s an “illegitimate” president and thinks she can do what she couldn’t in 2016: win.

She’s delusional, but her jumping into the ring could greatly heighten the entertainment value of the primary and general election campaign seasons.

I’ve got three words for her: Run, Hillary. Run!

Julian Castro Walks Asylum Seekers Across the Border, But They Get Returned to Mexico After He Leaves

Julian Castro is wallowing at the bottom of the Democratic primary presidential polls, desperate to find a way to qualify for the next debate and raise his profile.

On Monday, he tried a political stunt.

He attacked President Donald Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy, went to Mexico and brought 12 asylum seekers waiting there back across the border at Brownsville, Texas, along with their lawyers. The migrants he brought back included a deaf woman, three members of her family and eight LGBT people.

From Daily Wire:

“This Remain in Mexico program is a complete disaster,” Castro said, according to the LA Times. “People should not be living like this.”

“This president has helped create a humanitarian crisis,” the Democrat added. “People are living in squalor.”

The migrants accompanied by Castro said they have suffered harassment and harm while waiting in Mexico.

A lesbian woman who only wanted to be known publicly by her first name, Melisa, 27, told the LA Times that “she was hit in the face by a stranger as she stood talking to friends outside a nearby pharmacy.”

Mari, a 24-year-old lesbian, said she and her partner Dany have been called names at the migrant camp. “The same people who are living with us discriminate against us,” she said.

But this isn’t even a new political stunt.

Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) tried a similar stunt earlier walking women across the border at El Paso. That didn’t do much to move the needle for him either as far as poll numbers.

Castro claimed that the people he brought over were entitled to an exception because of their status and “vulnerability.” The “Remain in Mexico policy” allows consideration for people who may face credible danger.

However, Castro’s efforts were all for naught.

The 12 people were all returned to Mexico later in the day after Castro left.

Nothing prevents people from applying to come to the U.S. legally, they simply don’t want to wait in line behind anyone else.

And if being gay allows someone asylum then watch out for the floodgates of gay folk from every country to flood Mexico and try to get in to the United States. Bottom line is Mexico isn’t Iran and people are not getting killed for being gay or facing political persecution, the requirement for asylum.

You’re also not required to wait at the border, you can leave any time.

The “Remain in Mexico” policy, along with the deal with Mexico and improvements/additions to the border wall, has been very successful.

There’s been a huge drop in arrests at the border in the last few months since both went into effect. According to the Border Patrol, there’s been a 43 percent drop from May to August in San Diego, and it’s down 56 percent nationally.

But it’s exactly because the policy and the other efforts by the president have been so successful that Democrats like Castro are fighting it.

BIG: James Clapper Admits He Was Following Orders From His ‘Commander-In-Chief, President Obama’

In the transcript and the video below, Obama’s Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, speaks to CNN’s Jim Sciutto and makes the stunning admission that he’d been following Obama’s orders – and he says it twice.

This is very big news because it’s the first time a member of the deep state has admitted that President Obama was not only aware of the investigation, but was issuing orders to his team. “What were we supposed to have done…blown off what the then commander-in-chief, President Obama, told us to do?” And, as if we missed it the first time, he says it again. “It’s kind of disconcerting now to be investigated for, you know having done our duty and done what we were told to do by the president.”

Jim Sciutto: As you know, the President has members of this government, you have the Attorney General traveling the world now meeting with U.S. intelligence partners trying to find out, in his view, whether they participated in some sort of Obama administration led effort to undermine President Trump in the last election here. You also know that John Durham who is a prosecutor here, a senior justice department official, he’s pursuing his own investigations on the origins of that probe. Are you concerned that Barr’s or Durham’s investigation will find wrongdoing and seek to punish former intelligence officials?

James Clapper: Well, I uh, I don’t know. I, I, I don’t think there was any wrongdoing. I think at the time all of us were trying to navigate a very, very difficult, politically fraught, highly charged situation. I know, for my part, my main concern was the Russians, and the threat posed by the Russians to our very political fabric. The message I’m getting from all this is, apparently what we were supposed to have done was to ignore the Russian interference, ignore the Russian meddling and the threat that it poses to us, and oh, by the way, blown off what the then commander-in-chief, President Obama, told us to do, which was to assemble all the reporting that we could that we had available to us — and put it in one report that the president could pass on to the Congress and to the next administration. And while we’re at it, declassify as much as we possibly could to make it public, and that’s what we did.

Jim Sciutto: One issue I’m — (crosstalk)

James Clapper: It’s kind of disconcerting now to be investigated for, you know having done our duty and done what we were told to do by the president.

Clapper makes these statements in such a deadpan voice, we don’t realize at first the gravity of his words. But this is the first time a deep state insider has connected Obama to this travesty.

Rush Limbaugh was over the moon as he read this transcript to his listeners on Monday. He said:

I’ve been waiting for this. A lot of people have been waiting for this. Here’s Clapper saying, “I didn’t do anything wrong! We didn’t do anything wrong, ’cause we were doing what Obama told us to do.” The question he was asked is (summarized), “Are you worried about this investigation that Barr and he’s team’s running against you? Are you worried? You, Clapper and Brennan, are you guys worried?” (muttering) “Oh, no. Of course not. Why? (muttering) The president told us to do all that! (muttering) Obama was the president of the United States. Uhhh, the chief executive, uh, commander-in-chief told us to do all that.”

Really?

Folks, can you say in any other time and place “bombshell”?

In a text message dated September 2, 2016, from former FBI lawyer Lisa Page to fired FBI official Peter Strzok, she wrote: “potus wants to know everything we’re doing.” The two were putting together a list of talking points for then-FBI Director James Comey who was scheduled to meet with Obama.

I suppose we’ve just heard Clapper’s defense. I was just following orders.

I’ve heard that’s what the Nazi’s said at the Nuremberg trials.

I’m willing to bet that wherever Obama is right now, he’s not too happy!
