“Obviously I’ve Hypnotized the World”: Ben Shapiro Uses Ilhan Omar’s Words Against Her After She Attacks Him

In the middle of all the commentary and reactions to Democratic Reps. Ilhan Omar’s (MN) and Rashida Tlaib’s (MI) press conference on Monday condemning Israel’s decision to bar them entry, the Daily Wire‘s Ben Shapiro was attacked by the left over claims he made about Republicans as it related to Barack Obama’s presidency.

Here’s what he said:

Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro said he wasn’t aware of “a single major Republican figure” that made claims of former President Obama being an illegitimate president, seemingly ignoring President Trump’s repeated assertions that Obama was not born in the U.S.

“Republicans impeached Bill Clinton in the 1990s, they never made a move to impeach Barack Obama despite the myriad of scandals that cropped up during his administration,” Shapiro said in a video clip reported Monday by The Daily Beast.

Shapiro did not elaborate on the “myriad of scandals” he is referencing.

“I’m not aware of a single major Republican figure who said Barack Obama is not the president of the United States,” he added.

He elaborated on Twitter:

A number of people – mostly liberals and Democrats – disagreed with Shapiro over his claims, including Intercept columnist and Al Jazeera TV show presenter Mehdi Hasan, who is followed by Rep. Omar. Hasan tweeted this response:

Omar saw Hasan’s tweet and responded:

Shapiro clapped back by using Omar’s own words against her:

Shapiro’s comment was in reference to tweets Omar ended up deleting earlier this year after she was accused of anti-Semitism for what she wrote.

“It’s all about the Benjamins baby,” she tweeted on February 10th.

In 2012, Omar tweeted that “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel.”

Noted Biblical Scholar Bernie Sanders Explains What the Bible Is Really About

Westlake Legal Group bible-light-rays-620x387 Noted Biblical Scholar Bernie Sanders Explains What the Bible Is Really About The Daily Caller Speech Social Justice Sins Politics Nonsense Jesus Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story Election democrats Christianity Bible Bernie Sanders 2020

Just in case you don’t understand what the Bible is “really about,” no worries. Bernie Sanders is here for you and he’s using his noted expertise in Christianity to correct some common misinterpretations about Scripture.

You see, the bible isn’t about the grace and mercy offered via salvation in Christ, not by our own efforts but through his.

Nah, it’s about left-wing social justice.

The two presidential candidates addressed a group of black Christian millennials Saturday at a Black Church PAC’s Youth Leadership Conference in Atlanta. Both referenced the Bible to support their progressive agendas as they campaigned to the faithful.

“The Bible, if it is about anything, is about justice,” Sanders stated at one point during his 20 minutes on stage. “It is about reaching out to people in need. It is about standing up to the wealthy and the powerful.”

Sanders has previously described himself as “not particularly religious,” and said he’s “not actively involved in organized religion,” according to the Washington Post.

No. No, it’s not. Not at all.

The message of the Bible, much less the Gospels, is not “standing up to the wealthy and the powerful.” In fact, it was to the great dismay of many during Jesus’ time on earth that he wasn’t there to overthrow the wealthy and powerful (and oppressive) Romans. The path he walked was infinitely more important than dealings of worldly government and physical want. To pretend otherwise is pure nonsense.

What Bernie is doing is a common misconception harbored by people who otherwise have no real understanding of Christianity. While the New Testament does encourage charity, it was never meant to be forced and it was never meant to be primary. Helping the poor, while good, does not provide salvation nor was Jesus stumping for Medicare for All run by a central government. He was espousing the spiritual truth that those saved by Grace will be transformed into people who love God and love people, stimulating action toward those in need around them. Compulsion makes those acts worthless in God’s eyes.

Of course, Bernie’s greatest sin in this discussion isn’t misrepresenting charity in the Bible. It’s his complete distortion of who Jesus is by claiming the Bible is simply about “justice.” If the Bible were about “justice,” Jesus would have never came because all have fallen short and are deserving of judgement. That would have been justice. Instead, he came and died on the Cross, becoming the propitiation for our sins and saving us from the justice we actually deserved.  The message of the Bible isn’t that people deserve a living wage or whatever other socialist policy Bernie Sanders is stumping for. It’s that we all need a savior and that Jesus is that savior.

In short, if the Bible were about the proliferation of justice, we’d all be in really big trouble.

Politicians, especially those that aren’t even Christians (like Sanders), should steer clear of this kind of ridiculous rewriting of Biblical truth. I realize that Christians are not part of a “protected class” on the left and therefore our beliefs are often subjected to ridicule and distortion, but that doesn’t make it right. Stick to campaign slogans and making promises you can’t keep.

As he often does, President Trump took to the Twitter machine earlier today to express his opinion on the press conference held yesterday by Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) in which the two Congresswomen condemned Israel’s decision last Thursday to bar them from entry on security grounds.

Here’s a recap of what was alleged at the presser, via CBS News:

“Netanyahu’s decision to deny us entry might be unprecedented for members of Congress,” Omar said during a press conference, referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “But it is the policy of his government when it comes to Palestinians. This is the policy of his government when it comes to anyone who holds views that threaten the occupation.”

[…]

The Israeli government did offer to let Tlaib in on humanitarian grounds to visit her 90-year-old Palestinian grandmother on the condition that she did not promote a boycott of Israel. Tlaib initially agreed, but later rejected the offer, saying she would not make the visit under “oppressive conditions.”

Getting visibly emotional, Tlaib said she made the decision to not accept the conditional travel permit after consulting with her grandmother and other family members.

“Through tears, at three o’clock in the morning, we all decided as a family that I could not go until I was a free, American United States Congresswoman coming there, not only to see my grandmother but to talk to Palestinian and Israeli organizations that believed that my grandmother deserves human dignity as much as anyone else does,” she said.

Here’s the video of Tlaib crying as she talked about family members having to go through “dehumanizing checkpoints” to visit her grandparents:

In a tweet posted earlier today, Trump stated he wasn’t buying it:

He later expanded on his comments when asked about the press conference at the White House:

PRESIDENT TRUMP: No. And you should see the horrible things that Tlaib has said about Israel, and “AOC plus three.” That’s what I call it. “AOC” — just take “AOC plus three.” And you should see the things that the four of them have said about Israel over the last couple of years.

I mean, Omar is a disaster for Jewish people. I can’t imagine, if she has any Jewish people in her district, that they could possibly vote for her. But what Omar has said, what Tlaib has said.

And then, yesterday, I noticed for the first time, Tlaib with the tears. All of a sudden, she starts with tears. Tears. And I don’t buy it. I don’t buy it. I don’t buy it for a second because I’ve seen her in a very vicious mood at campaign rallies — my campaign rallies — before she was a congresswoman. I said, “Who is that?” And I saw a woman that was violent and vicious and out of control.

And all of a sudden, I see this person who’s crying because she can’t see her grandmother. She can see her grandmother. They have her permission to see her grandmother, but she grandstanded and she didn’t want to do it.

[…]

And I think any Jewish people that vote for a Democrat, I think it shows either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty.

Watch his remarks about The Squad below:

Liberals on Twitter are, of course, flipping out because Trump used the disloyalty card, which to them equates to an anti-Semitic trope (even though Omar’s and Tlaib’s actual anti-Semitism is not actual anti-Semitism or something, as we have been told over the last several months).

In any event, as nauseating as it has been to watch Tlaib and Omar play the victim card for the last several days, and whether or not you agree with all he said today on the subject, one thing Trump said is unquestionably true:

These two perpetually outraged and disingenuous radical extremist Congresswomen, along with AOC and Ayanna Pressley are the faces of the Democratic party.

Trump: Jews who vote for Democrats nowadays are either ignorant or disloyal

Westlake Legal Group dt-4 Trump: Jews who vote for Democrats nowadays are either ignorant or disloyal Trump tlaib The Blog omar jewish Israel democrats

The key bit comes in the last 30 seconds of the clip, following a few minutes of criticism of Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib. We’re about to embark on an exciting news cycle of “To whom does Trump believe Jews owe ‘loyalty,’ exactly?”

Does he mean loyalty to Judaism? We don’t normally let politicians lecture members of a religious group on what makes them good or bad members of their own faith, especially when the politician in question isn’t a member of that faith. Presumably Jews themselves know best what makes a loyal Jew; given that 71 percent of them voted for Hillary three years ago and a heavy majority will vote for the Democrat again next year, most would disagree with his theological pronouncement here. Note that he’s not even saying that Jewish Democrats who specifically support Omar and Tlaib are bad Jews, he’s saying that Jewish Democrats who support the Democratic Party writ large in the age of Omar and Tlaib are, never mind that Omar’s BDS resolution was crushed in the House by a bipartisan vote a few weeks ago. He’s actually doing the same thing here that various lefties have tried to do to his own supporters when they claim that only racists would support the Trump-era GOP, imputing the worst motive to voters on the other side even though people choose to support a party for complicated reasons, and with various misgivings. Trump’s duplicating that but adding a fraught element of religious authenticity to it.

Or does he mean loyalty to Israel? That’d be worse since it would mean he thinks American Jews owe some duty of loyalty to a foreign country, a weird position for an American nationalist to take — and needless to say, waaaaay too close to the “dual loyalty” stereotype that Omar rightly got in trouble for when she claimed earlier this year that U.S. supporters of Israel evince “loyalty” to Tel Aviv. People threw a fit over that because of how it connected admirers of the Jewish state to the anti-semitic belief that Jews can’t be trusted to show loyalty to their home country the same way everyone else can. Trump’s pushing the same idea here but he seems to be endorsing it. American Jews *should* show more loyalty to a foreign state and one way to do that is to rethink their support for the opposition party here at home.

This isn’t the first time he’s suggested in passing that American Jews are subjects of Israel somehow, by the way:

Trump has said other … colorful things about Jews that jibe with anti-semitic stereotypes but he never seems to mean them in an unflattering way. Skilled with money, practiced at haggling, loyal to Israel — he appears to mean all of these things as compliments, notes Josh Barro. Yair Rosenberg compared Trump’s attitude to the one satirized here. It’s of a piece with the new strain of global nationalism that David Frum wrote about a few weeks ago, in which an authoritarian leader comes to power vowing to bar the foreigners who are invading and corrupting the country — but makes an explicit exception for Jews, who are welcome and valued. They’re still different, not quite like all the rest of us, but in their case it’s okay. Their differences are to be admired.

I don’t think either of those interpretations of what he meant by “disloyal” are going to fly, though, so the White will probably settle on something like this as the spin:

We don’t typically think of loyalty and disloyalty in terms of oneself. Loyalty by definition is a duty one owes to another, again raising the question of who the other is in this case. But since all of the other answers are uncomfortable, Brooks’s read on it will have to be the party line.

Today’s politicians have foul f%!@*+# mouths

Westlake Legal Group RalphieSoapMouth715 Today’s politicians have foul f%!@*+# mouths The Blog Joe Biden donald trump democrats 2020 Democrat primaries 2020 campaign

Perhaps you too have noticed a distinct coarsening of public language in our society. Not just during this Democratic primary campaign or presidency. But going back some years.

Lyndon Johnson was particularly profane. An open mic caught George W. Bush describing one reporter as a back-facing part of the lower human anatomy. Vice President Joe Biden was also caught a couple of times uttering an ancient acronym for fornication under consent of the king.

Donald Trump has let slip his share, maybe more, even during nationally-televised rallies. Last year others quoted him as referring to “s***hole countries.” Some profanity is perhaps more dangerous for this president, given his rock-solid political support so far from Protestant evangelicals. Though a number did express displeasure recently.

Maybe it’s our Puritan heritage, but Americans have a quaint way with foul language. Everyone knows the worst words. Most everyone has said some in anger or after hammering a thumb. Anyone who’s ever been at a pro sporting event has heard the words, even in the family section.

Until recently, most media have used euphemistic letters to preserve the innocence of our virgin ears and eyes from exposure to words like s***, f*** and g** d***.

Many years ago I was scolded by a senior editor after the fact for being too specific by slipping into the N.Y. Times a description of a defendant’s courtroom outburst as shouting an eight-letter barnyard epithet.

Back in 1944 a cocky German general demanded the surrender of battered and besieged American troops surrounded at the Battle of the Bulge.

Even modern history books still quote the response of U.S. Gen. Anthony McAuliffe as “Nuts!” When in reality, the battle-hardened paratrooper suggested what the German should go do to himself.

So, as distasteful as it might seem, in one sense it’s a refreshing sign of candor and honesty that some modern political figures are on occasion using the same public language that they and we have employed in private. Assuming they’re not swearing to fake authenticity.

With modern recording devices even in cellphones, it’s easier to record them. And especially with Trump, media feel less constrained to censor presidential words.

“I wrote the damn bill!” Bernie Sanders exclaimed the other day. Aides shared a Cory Booker text describing Trump remarks as a barnyard epithet “soup of ineffective words.”

Robert Francis O’Rourke was professing disgust with Trump’s vocabulary about illegal immigrants when he said “What the f***?” to reporters. Kirsten Gillibrand has said if politicians aren’t helping the impoverished “we should go the f*** home.”

The so-called f-bomb you may have noticed is no longer just a verb. It’s now often a noun as in “I don’t give a f****” or used to emphasize the next word as in “f****** jerk.”

The Hill newspaper recently reported data showing the use of profanity increasing with Twitter. It found politicians’ use of profanity there, excluding s*** and f***, occurred 833 times in 2018 and already 1,225 times this year.

According to Ben Bergen, author of “What the F: What Swearing Reveals About Our Language, Our Brains and Ourselves”:

We’ve seen media become democratized. There are fewer and fewer channels of communication that are censored. And as a result, there’s just more swearing around.

D*** straight!

Trump Administration Files Official Brief To Dismantle the Unconstitutional DACA Program

What started as a textbook example of executive lawmaking by fiat that turned into a textbook case of results-oriented judicial rulings is now headed to the Supreme Court.

Of course, I’m talking about the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, program.

The executive lawmaking by fiat took place in 2012 when President Obama basically gave the finger to Congress and announced that he was going to contravene black letter law and exempted some illegal aliens from being eligible for deportation.

The method he used for this was not an Executive Order or the APA rule-making process, it was established by a memo former DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano sent out to her field staff directing them to not deport illegal aliens who allege that they were brought to the US as children. That’s it. That was the depth of the analysis and consultation. A. Memo. A similar program, Deferred Action for Parents of Americans, was ruled unconstitutional by a federal appeals court which should have been a hint that it wasn’t on the up-and-up. But when Jeff Sessions got around to pulling the plug on DACA, lawfare ensued and the administration was told it could not rescind the Napolitano memo.

Just stop for a moment and consider this. Federal courts literally told the Trump administration that they could not rescind a memo written five years and three Homeland Security secretaries earlier. Logically, this means a cabinet secretary’s memo is more powerful than an actual law because it takes no consensus to issue it and it can’t be withdrawn when management changes.

The Trump administration appealed this to the Supreme Court and the case is to be heard in November. Today, however, we got a glance at the argument.

Justice Department lawyers told the Supreme Court on Monday that President Trump acted lawfully in September 2017 when he decided to end an Obama-era program that protects young undocumented immigrants from deportation.

In a legal brief submitted to the court, the lawyers asserted that the president was fully within his rights to eliminate the program, known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, and said the lower courts were mistaken when they said Mr. Trump’s action almost two years ago was arbitrary.

The Department of Homeland Security “correctly, and at a minimum reasonably, concluded that DACA is unlawful,” the lawyers argued, disputing the conclusions by the lower court judges about the three reasons the administration gave for ending the program. “None of those three grounds is remotely arbitrary or capricious, let alone all three.”

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear arguments about the fate of the program in November. The justices could decide the case next spring or summer, just as the presidential election campaign is in full swing.

The government’s brief, filed late Monday, is the first salvo in what could be one of the biggest legal tests of the president’s immigration agenda. The outcome of the case will probably determine whether Mr. Trump can make good on a central campaign promise.

I think that it is a safe bet that this version of DACA is dead. Given the way the Supreme Court has ruled, it is very difficult to see the same majority that has upheld President Trump’s actions on immigration so far suddenly decide that this administration must continue to carry out the policies of the previous one given the lack of fact finding or public comment or anything more than one person signing a memo.

That, of course, creates a whole new series of problems for Democrats and Republicans. The Democrats threw away a perfectly good chance to reach an permanent DACA settlement early in Trump’s presidency but decided they would much rather have the issue to fund-raise off from than having a solution. The House Democrats will have to propose some kind of bullsh** bill, the question then being will they overreach and propose something that can’t pass (energizing the open borders types but putting red and purple district Democrats on record on a massive amnesty bill)? Or will they actually try to find a bill the Senate can live with? That, of course, was a rhetorical question. For the Republicans the question is do they hold firm or cave? And will President Trump create his own DACA once the Obama one is dead or will he start deporting DREAMers?

Because it is an election year, neither side will have much of an incentive to compromise. And, to tell you the truth, I’ve sort of lost sympathy for the whole DREAMer nonsense and I suspect that many in the GOP and in the country at large are also close to having their give-a-sh** circuit breaker trip along with me.

By now you’ve likely seen Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s continued performance concerning the supposed cruelty of Israel now including her breaking down into tears over Israeli checkpoints she claimed “dehumanized” her mother.

As Tlaib was giving a statement to the press, she began crying upon telling the story.

It doesn’t seem that many are buying the idea that her tears are genuine. Even President Donald Trump waved them away as pure performance.

It’s hard to take Tlaib’s emotions seriously, seeing as how checkpoints aren’t exactly uncommon. You see them going into sporting events, concerts, and you have to deal with the over-funded and under-successful TSA anytime you want to hop on a plane. Tlaib doesn’t seem to be crying over the dehumanization Americans go through when they’re x-rayed and bodies exposed, just the ones around the Israeli borders.

I wonder why.

However, amid the backlash Tlaib was receiving over her anti-Israeli crocodile tears, one tweet stood out to me that I thought made Tlaib’s performance seem even more shallow.

A woman named Frimeth Roth, an Israeli citizen, tweeted at Tlaib that her mother’s dehumanization is a small price to pay compared to the one she paid for a lack of one.

“Rep Tlaib cried about her mother being “dehumanized” at Israeli checkpoints,” tweeted Roth. “My child Malki, a US citizen murdered at 15, would be here today had a checkpoint stopped her murderer and a 10 kg bomb from entering Jerusalem. Remind Tlaib: Checkpoints prevent terrorism – save lives.”

I doubt Talib would actually present a legitimate argument to this mother, especially in the face of the checkpoints she’s ignoring. It’s sad that this woman’s child was taken out by the very people Tlaib tends to defend and would have been stopped were it for one of those “dehumanizing” checkpoints.

For Israel, and even the United States, we have this checkpoints because “some people did something” to quote Rep. Ilhan Omar. That people were radical Islamic terrorists who hail from various areas surrounding Israel. The land that Tlaib calls Palestine. The thing they did is killing innocent people with bombs, planes, knives, and more.

We need those checkpoints and all the fake tears in the world won’t change people’s minds about that. Not in the face of the threat we face if we don’t have them.

Will miracles ever cease?

I hope not.

I’m going to start this article with an admission.

I walked away by and large from doing “political” things during the 2016 primaries early on because of the sheer stupidity of how the candidates’ supporters were going on and on about how great their candidate was and how crappy Donald Trump was acting. I had friends on all sides of the issue that were busting up friendships over, in my mind, the candidate who would win the GOP nod and lose in the fall.

I personally was lobbied after the GOP Clevland convention to get on board with candidate Trump and I always refused politely. Not because I thought Clinton was great or anything like that, but I didn’t believe that Donald Trump was truly pro-life. I had enough of the jerking the pro-life chains during the Bush 43 administration and the other officials who talked a great game but feared the pro-abortion smear campaign if they touched any of the sacred money going to Planned Parenthood.

Well, I am here to say that I was 100% wrong about Donald Trump and his views on pro-life. His administration has successfully taken the fight to the biggest abortion provider in the nation and said you can’t use federal dollars to promote abortion.

Here is what happened according to CBS News

Planned Parenthood said all of its clinics will formally leave Title X, the marquee federal program dedicated to providing birth control to low-income women. A change to the program last year requires beneficiaries to comply with a so-called “gag order” on abortion services — something that Planned Parenthood said it isn’t willing to do. The clinic’s exit will result in a loss of millions of federal dollars.

In a conference call with reporters on Monday, Planned Parenthood’s new leader, Alexis McGill Johnson, announced all the health care clinic’s affiliates would be sending letters to the Department of Health and Human Services Monday, formally announcing their resignation from Title X. She warned that without Planned Parenthood, low-income women in rural areas would struggle to find affordable birth control options.

Title X funds have never been authorized to pay for abortions. Instead, the money is used for wellness exams, STD and HIV screenings, birth control and contraceptive education, according to Planned Parenthood. Anti-abortion rights advocates argue that any money given to Planned Parenthood — even if it’s not used for abortions — frees up funding to be used for the procedure.

But in February, a 312-page filing from the Department of Health and Human Services proposed what abortion rights advocates have referred to as a “gag rule.” Under the proposal, the agency wrote that “none of the funds appropriated for Title X may be used in programs where abortion is a method of family planning.” The changes impact not just Planned Parenthood, but any clinic that supports, performs or even refers patients for abortion services.

PP has for a long time used federal money to free up and promote abortions. They have denied it but the evidence is clear and all the puff pieces in the MSM won’t obscure any of that.

No Republican administration since the adoption of Roe v Wade since 1972 has taken the fight to all levels on abortion as this one has. I would have never believed this even if someone from the future came back to tell me this in 2016. As I write this now I’m still somewhat dazed.

How is it that a New Yorker who was born into a real estate family and developed a media persona, now leads the most Pro-Life Presiedcy this nation has ever seen?

I don’t know, but I’m glad that miracles never cease.

During the CNN Democratic debate, one of the more shocking moments was the absolute thrashing that Tulsi Gabbard put on Kamala Harris regarding her real record as attorney general of California.

Gabbard pointed out Harris’ office slow-walking evidence and harsh enforcement policies that make up just some of the questionable tactics Harris endorsed in her career as a prosecutor. The gutting provided by Gabbard appears to have had a lasting effect on Harris: She’s tanking in the polls.

Harris has dropped twelve points in the polls, and it’s only going to get worse. Harris has two problems.

The first is what Gabbard hit her on: She’s a cop. She’s always been a cop. She will always be seen as a cop. What made people excited about committee hearings she was involved with was the fact that she was a prosecutor, a person whose goal is to get the opposition to say exactly what she wants them to say. If you go back and listen to her responses to Gabbard, she got caught in the same trap Chris Christie crushed Marco Rubio on in 2016 – the robotic talking points. She didn’t defend herself, but instead went back to what she was saying before the attack.

She couldn’t defend the attacks.

The second is much more dangerous for her: Attacking Joe Biden is an attack on Barack Obama. Harris has tried to hit Senator Joe Biden and not Vice President Joe Biden, but Biden has been clever enough to always refer back to his time with Obama to remind black voters he was Obama’s guy. If you attack Obama’s guy, you attack Obama, and that’s a major problem for Harris.

Harris could end up out of future debates if she doesn’t find a way to rehabilitate the image. She’s in trouble.

U.S. women’s soccer star and World Cup champ Megan Rapinoe did an interview with the U.K’s. Guardian newspaper last month in which she talked about a variety of issues, including her team’s championship victory over the Netherlands, the mythical “equal pay” issue, and gay rights.

In the piece, just published over the weekend, Rapinoe also spoke about her close relationship with her parents and how they were at odds with her politically. Here’s what she said:

Was [Rapinoe’s family home a] political household? “No, not at all. I feel like I grew up with all of these lessons [about equality], but nothing was ever spoken. No language was ever put around it. Both of my parents should be really progressive – especially my mom – and I don’t get that they’re not. I’m always saying: ‘You guys should really be Democrats!’ But they’re not, so what’s happening?”

Perhaps Rapinoe is the expression of their sublimated liberalism, the things that her parents can’t say, I suggest. “I know. And I’m very similar to how they are, even though I think my dad voted for Trump and I’ll say: ‘I don’t get it. How are you simultaneously as proud as punch of me, and watching Fox News all the time, [who are doing] takedowns of your daughter?’ That’s why I’m like: ‘You guys need to go to therapy.’”

Do they fight now? “There’s been some major blow-ups. There’s definitely been some dust-ups.” At the same time, she says: “I’m very close to my family. It’s not like: ‘Ugh, I’m from a conservative town and I never talk to them any more.’ I talk to my parents all the time, every day. And I feel like I have seen progress and growth. I would love it if people understood you should never say racist things and be OK with gay people, or whatever it is. But, obviously, it doesn’t happen that quickly.”

Rapinoe was born in Redding, California, which is considered one of the more conservative areas of California.

The answer to Rapinoe’s question is simple, although she can’t see it because she’s wrapped herself in this bubble of perpetual liberal victimhood because she happens to be a (very successful and rich) gay woman. Rapinoe has this bad habit of viewing almost anyone who has legitimate political disagreements with her as a racist, or a homophobe, or any of the other various insulting names that liberals love to call conservatives in place of substantive debate.

What she doesn’t seem to be willing to acknowledge is that people can disagree politically and not be enemies. It’s very hard in the toxic political climate we live in to believe that but it’s true. In the real world, most people’s everyday lives do not revolve around politics and tearing down people as the scum of the earth just because they happen to disagree with you.

While politicians and commentators sometimes have little choice but to fling harsh words back and forth at each other because everything is stupid, families and friends in mainstream America know each other on a more personal level, knowing a person’s heart and where they stand, their motivations and what not. Most of them can look into the eyes of their loved ones and know that in spite of any political disagreement that their hearts are in the right place.

In other words, they know that in most instances their family member or friend is not a racist, or a bigot, or whatever other name people want to throw out there just because they voted for Trump, or because they are pro-life, or believe women’s rights should not be sacrificed in the transgender debate.

Essentially Rapinoe answered her own question. I can’t speak for her parents and what they’re actually thinking, but I think it’s a safe bet to say that they don’t agree with everything that’s been said about their daughter on Fox News or by Trump. But they’re also probably very aware that Rapinoe has put herself out there as an outspoken spokesperson on a number of fronts and has set herself up for much of the criticisms she’s received.

In other words, if you’re gonna dish it out, Megan, best learn how to take it when it’s turned around on you.
