CNN’s April Ryan Has Her Security Assault a Journalist, Media Doesn’t Seem to Care

Westlake Legal Group CNN-620x280 CNN’s April Ryan Has Her Security Assault a Journalist, Media Doesn’t Seem to Care Speech Politics media bias Hypocrite Front Page Stories Front Page Freedom of the Press Featured Story democrats CNN Charlie Kratovil camera bodyguard assault april ryan

April Ryan is everything that’s wrong with “journalism” in the modern era.

She constantly engages in rabid partisanship and misleading analysis while framing herself as an innocent bystander. When she’s not picking fights at the White House, she’s moonlighting on CNN as a political analyst, which is just code for her showing up and being a liberal hack. This a women so unprofessional that she once threatened to take down Sarah Sanders in a street fight. There was also an episode involving her saying Sanders’ head should be lopped off,  because inciteful language is only a thing on the right apparently. Just recently, she called the currently unemployed Andrew Gillum “governor” because journalism or something.

The point being, this is not a serious person we are dealing with.

So when I came across this story and subsequent video evidence last night, none of it was surprising.

Here’s the story per Charlie Kratovil’s description of events.

I should start by noting he’s a liberal journalist so this is not a case of a right wing outlet baiting someone (not that such would excuse physical misconduct). Kratovil was at a convention where April Ryan was set to speak because I guess that’s a thing people pay for. He received prior permission to film the event. When he arrived he setup his camera and filmed other speakers as the day went on. Before Ryan went on though, she sent her security detail to demand Kratovil take down his camera. He refused, citing that he had permission.

That’s when things got even crazier. Ryan then actually took the stage and told the audience that she does not allow her speeches to be filmed.

What this shows is that her bodyguard wasn’t just acting on his own. She had actually told him to go stop Kratovil from recording. It should be noted this is the same April Ryan who has constantly whined about freedom of the press and having her voice suppressed when it comes to the Trump White House, claims that hold basis in fact. Yet, here she is playing diva, demanding that she not be filmed while she speaks. That’s some serious hypocrisy.

Eventually, as per the video above, the bodyguard steal the camera and physically assault Kratovil by twisting his arm and while throwing him out of the facility.

CNN clearly has issues and this is just the latest in a list of scandals they’ve dealt with this week. What will they do about this? The answer is almost certainly nothing. Had a conservative speaker ordered his bodyguard to do this, we would never hear the end of it and every prime time show on CNN would lead with it. Because Ryan is a liberal though, she apparently has immunity. In fact, this altercation took place over a week ago and CNN has yet to even mention it while Brian Stelter is nowhere to be found. It wasn’t until the video dropped yesterday that the story started to gain traction on right-wing outlets and among some more honest liberal journalists defending their colleague.

Even with clear video evidence showing wrongdoing, Ryan hasn’t apologized. Instead, she’s spent her day blocking people on Twitter who ask her for answers because freedom of the press and all that, right? These people are massive hypocrites. They truly believe they are part of an untouchable, elite class for which normal rules do not apply.

As to the media at large, they don’t get to scream incitement at the right constantly and then just ignore an actual physical assault by a liberal from CNN.

Watch: PragerU Releases Video That Aggressively Challenges the Concept of ‘Speaking Your Truth’

One of the most annoying rallying cries coming from the left over the last several years is the reemergence of the concept of “your truth.” It’s not a new concept, but it’s one the left has embraced as part of what they say is a cultural shift. They describe it as being about individuals who speak (paraphrasing) “their truth from their perspective as it relates to their experiences.”

The Philly Inquirer‘s Anna Orso described it this way in a piece she wrote on the issue in January 2018:

Is living your truth a laudable goal, or is it the left’s version of Orwellian doublespeak, similar to “fake news” or “alternative facts”? And what if “your truth” is that the Earth is flat or that dinosaurs helped build the pyramids?

As a rule, of course, it’s not. When Winfrey and others say, “Speak your truth,” they typically mean something more like: Share your perspective, tell your story, open up about your experience. But in an America some call “post-truth,” semantics matter.

Orso’s piece was in response to a speech Oprah Winfrey gave at the January 7, 2018 Golden Globes after receiving the Cecile B. DeMille Award:

The media mogul referenced [“speaking your truth”] three times while addressing the seismic #MeToo movement, including: “What I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have.”

You can read and watch the full speech here.

It was Winfrey’s amplification of “speak your truth” during that speech that PragerU used as an example in a video they released this week aggressively challenging the concept.

As you’ll see, Palm Beach Atlantic University Professor Paul Copan points out in the video that “you can have your experience” or “your perspective” but that there was simply “no such thing as ‘your truth’ or ‘my truth.’ There’s only ‘the truth.’” Which, Copan notes, means “that which is true for everyone.”

The video also referenced a tweet from Wall Street Journal‘s Byron Tau written after Winfrey’s speech in which he questioned the validity of describing personal experiences as “your truth.” The phrase “undermines the idea of a shared set of common facts,” Tau wrote:

After expanding on Tau’s point, Copan wrapped up the video by stating “Truth can’t be relative. If it is relative, then it’s not truth…. Truth is inescapable because reality is inescapable.”

Watch the two minute segment below:

You can also watch a related, expanded version of this video where Copan talks about “is truth relative?” here.

President Trump Might Be Right About Conservatives With Fredo Cuomo

(CNN via AP)

Fredo returns to Florida after meeting with his brother in Cuba and finds out he is still all wet.

This whole thing with CNN covering for their anchor after threatening someone for using a non-ethnic slur is typical left-wing garbage. What is also becoming more garbage in my mind is the conservative response to simple things like this.

In what can only be termed as a HUGE break from Donald Trump, Sean Hannity of all people stated that he thought Fredo deserved an apology for someone calling him Fredo while out with his family. Here is what Hannity gurgled according to The Hill

Fox News host Sean Hannity is defending Chris Cuomo after a video surfaced showing the CNN host threatening to “f—ing throw” someone down the stairs for calling him “Fredo,” a fictional character from “The Godfather.”

“I say good for @ChrisCuomo,” Hannity wrote on Twitter late Monday. “He’s out with his 9 year old daughter, and his wife, and this guy is being a jackass in front of his family. Imho Chris Cuomo has zero to apologize for. He deserves the apology.”

Being a jackass is now calling someone a fictional name from an iconic movie? The video does not show anyone OTHER than Cuomo using bad language or being confrontational. The person who deserves an apology is the guy Fredo went off on.

Sean’s tweet went out on Monday night and President Trump tweeted this later on Tuesday which probably made the hair gel on Sean’s noggin lose some of that oomph it usually has.

It always happens! When a Conservative does even a fraction of what Chris Cuomo did with his lunatic ranting, raving, & cursing, they get destroyed by the Fake News. But when a Liberal Democrat like Chris Cuomo does it, Republicans immediately come to his defense. We never learn!

If you are on T.V. or radio and you throw hot takes all over the place, when you go out in public you can fully expect for people to praise you or throw a verbal jab. If someone is going over the line like we have witnessed with Sen.Ted Cruz where they are shouting or physically touching someone than take appropriate measures. In the video that was posted Fredo Cuomo was clearly the aggressor and there was no need for it. Zero. Nada.

I fully understand how Donald Trump’s style pisses people off. There are times that I even scream STOP TWEETING. However, he is spot on with this take. Stop acting as though people in entertainment (Which is what CNN is) get to throw jabs and can’t receive any when not in front of the teleprompter.

Sean Hannity is wrong. Donald Trump is right and Chris Cuomo is now Fredo forevermore.

The Foolish Leftist Media Wants O’Rourke to Abandon the National Stage and Return to Texas

Beto O’Rourke by DonkeyHotey, licensed under CC BY-SA 2.0/Original

If we’re all being honest, Robert “Beto” O’Rourke isn’t going to win the Democratic nomination for the 2020 Presidential race, much less the general election. With that in mind, many on the left are urging O’Rourke to come back to Texas and possibly run for the Senate again, this time against Sen. John Cornyn.

It started with an op-ed from the Houston Chronicle’s editorial board, emploring O’Rourke to return “home” due to being needed in Texas. The op-ed was penned after the El Paso shooting, which thrust O’Rourke back into the spotlight despite waning popularity, to the point of being snuffed out.

The Chron noted that O’Rourke showed a very human moment after the El Paso shooting with an expletive-laden rant about President Donald Trump.

“You know the s*** he’s been saying. He’s been calling Mexican immigrants rapists and criminals. I don’t know. … Like, members of the press — what the f***? It’s these questions that you know the answers to …,” said O’Rourke.

This apparently made The Chron feel like they needed O’Rourke to lead them…for some reason:

So Beto, if you’re listening: Come home. Drop out of the race for president and come back to Texas to run for senator. The chances of winning the race you’re in now are vanishingly small. And Texas needs you.

Two years ago, you ran an inspiring race against Sen. Ted Cruz. Sure, you lost. No shame in that. Texas hasn’t elected a Democrat to a statewide office since 1994. You chipped away at a wall that wasn’t quite ready to come down. You showed it’s possible.

The Chron acknowledged that winning a race against Cornyn would be no easy task and he’d have to do better against the Republican incumbent than he did against Cruz, but that they believed he could do it.

This call was taken up by CNN’s Chris Cillizza on Tuesday, and he even laid out how O’Rourke could do it, including filing deadlines, and that his presidential donations could be used for a Senate run.

I’m more than a little disturbed at the fact that the left is basing their need for O’Rourke to run in Texas again all based off an untrue rant about Trump that featured choice cusswords. Trump isn’t racist and even various leftist outlets have acknowledged his supposed words about immigrants were directed towards actual criminals like MS-13.

What the leftist press is doing is essentially hoping O’Rourke tries for the Texas senate again based off of a romantic idea that O’Rourke has passion for Texas and would bring balance to the force, all because he said bad words. It’s ludicrous, but about what I’d expect from them.

Neither idea is true, anyway. O’Rourke doesn’t exactly have a record of good governance. In fact, he has a record of hardly any governance at all, though he does have more than a few instances of corruption to his reputation. The guy’s passion for Texas looks more like a passion for outside ideas and self-advancement. What’s more, O’Rourke’s popularity isn’t even of his own making, it was a concerted media effort to oust Cruz.

Let me be clear here. It was the left’s hatred of Cruz that drove O’Rourke’s popularity, not the left’s love of O’Rourke.

Without Cruz as a backdrop, O’Rourke has proved to be an overall boring figure in the political race. O’Rourke’s setting is what made him interesting, not O’Rourke himself. Be it Cruz or a mass shooting, your buddy Beto has always needed a prop. No amount of tire changing or dental procedure videos has been able to help him connect.

Could O’Rourke win Texas?

It’s possible. Texas’s blood-red hue has been turning slightly purple thanks to businesses from the coast coming to the state to take part in its excellent business atmosphere and bringing their coastal nonsense with them. However, O’Rourke could find his fight against Cornyn tougher.

Not due to something like Cornyn being a better politician than Cruz, but because Cornyn hasn’t earned the national infamy that Cruz has and thus the left won’t consider this fight to be as high-profile and worth helping out with. O’Rourke only came as close to Cruz as he did because, again, the left hates Cruz with a passion and wanted to see his figurative head on a spike.

The media is wasting its time on something it shouldn’t be wasting its time on in the first place.

Shocking: Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris Actually Get Fact Checked by MSM on Their Michael Brown Lies

Earlier this week, I wrote about longtime journalist Brit Hume taking the mainstream media and Democratic Sens. Kamala Harris (CA) and Elizabeth Warren (MA) to task regarding the lies the two candidates for president tweeted Friday about the 5 year anniversary of the death of Michael Brown.

Here’s what Warren and Harris tweeted that set Hume off:

President Obama’s own Justice Department concluded that Brown was not “murdered” by Ferguson, MO police officer Darren Wilson. The alleged “hands up, don’t shoot” narrative, which was turned into a rallying cry by social justice warriors and liberal commentators alike, was also determined to be false.

Hume corrected the Senators the same day the tweets were posted, but two days later he slammed the mainstream media for not bothering to fact check them:

In a shocker of all shockers, it sounds like a few people might have been paying attention, because on Monday, both the Washington Post and FactCheck.org put out pieces on Warren’s and Harris’s tweets, noting their claims were not true:

“Harris, Warren Wrong About Brown Shooting,” read a headline Monday from the non-profit website factcheck.org.

Washington Post Fact Checker Glenn Kessler on Monday also awarded both senators four pinocchios over their claims.

[…]

… the fact-checkers said the evidence in the case contradicts the comments by Harris and Warren: Three months after the shooting, a grand jury decided not to indict Wilson. And in March of 2015, a report released by President Barack Obama’s Department of Justice found that Officer Darren Wilson most likely had reason to fear for his life and did not break the law when shooting Brown.

Even Vox.com, which is more openly left-wing than the Washington Post and FactCheck.org, wrote that Harris’s and Warren’s tweets about Brown were false, concluding:

Five years after the shooting, though, major presidential campaigns are still getting the details wrong.

As of this writing, neither tweet has been deleted.

A newly released poll shows Sen. Bernie Sanders (VT) with a six point lead over his nearest competitor in the key state of New Hampshire. The Gravis Marketing poll shows Sanders at 21% in the Democrat primary and former vice president Joe Biden with 15%.

The poll shows Sen. Elizabeth Warren (MA) at 12%, Mayor Pete Buttigieg (South Bend, IN) at 8%, Sen. Kamala Harris of (CA) at 7%, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (HI) at 5%, and tech entrepreneur Andrew Yang and businessman Tom Steyer in a tie at 4%. Rep. Julian Castro (TX) and Beto O’Rourke (TX) each garnered 2% of the vote. All other candidates, including Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (NY), received 1% or less.

Other polls of the state show this shift occurred in the last two weeks. The most recent Democratic debates were held on July 30th and 31st.

Fivethirtyeight.com provides a full list of polls conducted by Democratic primary pollsters during this election cycle.

Gravis Marketing president Doug Kaplan said, “It is important to note that Sen. Sanders won the New Hampshire Democratic Primary in 2016. However, it is unlikely that Sen. Sanders will have a repeat of his 2016 performance in the state due to the number of candidates in the race this time.”

In the 2016 primary, Sanders received 60.2% of the vote compared to Clinton with 37.7%.

This is Gravis’ first poll of  New Hampshire primary voters in this election cycle. It was conducted between August 2nd and 6th and has a margin of error of 6.2%.

President Trump did not fare so well in head-to-head match-ups with the top candidates in the field.

The poll showed Biden defeating Trump by 53% to 40%, Sanders, 51% to 41%, Warren, 49% to 44%, Buttiegieg, 49% to 42% and Harris, 47 to 44%.

Kaplan noted that, “The last time a Republican Presidential candidate won New Hampshire’s electoral votes was in 2000. New Hampshire has always been a competitive state since 1992, however the state wasn’t as close as it was in 2016 since several presidential cycles.”

The Real Clear Politics average of national polls shows Biden holding onto a 30.8% lead, Warren with 18% and Sanders at 16.8%.

We Must Recognize the Limits of Our Power in Hong Kong and Not Make Things a Lot Worse

A protester waves a U.S. flag as hundreds of protesters gather outside Kwai Chung police station in Hong Kong, Tuesday, July 30, 2019. Protesters clashed with police again in Hong Kong on Tuesday night after reports that some of their detained colleagues would be charged with the relatively serious charge of rioting. (AP Photo/Vincent Yu)

Right now the people of Hong Kong are engaged in a low level, and so far peaceful, resistance to the attempt by Beijing to assert more control over the former British protectorate. The proximate cause of the unrest was an attempt by Hong Kong’s puppet government to push a bill through the legislature that would allow for the extradition of people in Hong Kong to the mainland. I’m not going to pretend to be an expert on China, even on the internet, so this is a general overview of how we got to where we are today:

February – Hong Kong’s Security Bureau submits a paper to the city’s legislature proposing amendments to extradition laws that would provide for case-by-case extraditions to countries, including mainland China, beyond the 20 states with which Hong Kong already has treaties.

March – Thousands take to the streets of Hong Kong to protest against the proposed extradition Bill. The American Chamber of Commerce expresses serious reservations in a submission to Hong Kong’s Secretary for Security, John Lee. It says the Bill will “undermine perceptions of Hong Kong as a safe and secure haven for international business operations”.

Apr 3 – Carrie Lam’s government introduces amendments to Hong Kong’s extradition laws that would allow criminal suspects to be sent to mainland China for trial. Opponents say the changes would put them at the mercy of Chinese courts.

Apr 28 – Tens of thousands of people march on Hong Kong’s parliament to demand the scrapping of the proposed extradition laws.

May 11, 2019 – Scuffles break out in Hong Kong’s legislature between pro-democracy lawmakers and those loyal to Beijing over the extradition Bill.

May 14, 2019 – Hong Kong legislators clash over the proposed law, with some democrats shouting “Scrap the evil law”.

May 21 – Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam says her administration is determined to push through the Bill despite mounting opposition locally and internationally. Authorities say they will bypass normal legislative procedures to expedite the Bill.

May 30 – Hong Kong introduces concessions to the extradition Bill, including limiting the scope of extraditable offences, but critics say they are not enough. Canada and Britain say it is vital that extradition arrangements fully respect the city’s high degree of autonomy from China.

Jun 4 – More than 120,000 students, alumni, staff and parents from 185 secondary schools sign a petition against the extradition law.

Jun 6 – More than 3,000 Hong Kong lawyers take to the streets dressed in black in a rare protest march against the extradition law.

Jun 9 – Protest organisers say around a million people rallied against the extradition Bill in a march to government headquarters. Violent skirmishes break out late at night between activists and police. Police put the protest numbers at 240,000.

Jun 10 – Hong Kong vows to press ahead with the extradition Bill despite the mass protest. The US says it is gravely concerned about the proposed amendments.

Jun 11 – Lam remains defiant as she again vows to push ahead with extradition Bill.

Jun 12 – Police fire rubber bullets and 150 canisters of tear gas as the extradition Bill triggers the city’s largest and most violent protests in decades.

Jun 13 – Hong Kong authorities shut government offices after a day of violence. China’s foreign ministry condemns the behaviour of protesters and voices support for the government.

Jun 14 – Lam indefinitely delays the proposed extradition law in a dramatic retreat after violent street protests.

Jun 16 – Lam issues a written apology to the public after the second massive protest in a week that organisers said drew around two million people.

Jun 18 –The Hong Kong leader signals the end of the controversial Bill but refuses to step down or say the Bill is withdrawn. She apologises in person.

Jun 21 – Thousands of demonstrators blockade police headquarters as the city braced itself for a third weekend of mass protests.

Jun 24 – Beijing says it will not allow leaders at the G20 meeting in Japan to discuss the Hong Kong issue.

Jun 26 – Hong Kong activists call on G20 leaders to help “liberate” the city.

Jun 27 – Fresh protests hit Hong Kong as activists seek a voice at the G20.

Jun 28 – Anti-extradition protesters rally again near government headquarters.

Jul 1 – Fresh protests erupt as Hong Kong marks the 22nd anniversary of the handover from British to Chinese rule. Protesters break into Legislative Council building.

Jul 2 – Police said they did not “set a trap” for protesters during Legislative Council raid.

Jul 5 – Thousands of mothers take to the streets during a peaceful protest. First charges pressed against a protester.

Jul 7 – Rallies take place outside West Kowloon train station. Peaceful until scuffles breakout overnight in Mong Kok.

Jul 9 – Lam says extradition Bill is “dead”, but stopped short of withdrawing the Bill.

READ: Nearest place to mainland China’: Hong Kong protest organiser on why they rallied at West Kowloon station

Jul 13 – Thousands of protesters clash with police in the town of Sheung Shui, not far from the Chinese city of Shenzhen.

Jul 14 – Pepper spray and batons used by police on protesters in a shopping mall in Sha Tin.

Jul 15 – Lam calls protesters in latest clashes “rioters”.

Jul 20 – Thousands come out in support of the police. Called Safeguard Hong Kong, it was held at Tamar Park, next to the Legislative Council building.

Jul 21 – Clashes in parts of Hong Kong, as police fire tear gas and rubber bullets at protesters. Men dressed in white attack demonstrators and commuters in an MTR station in Yuen Long, leaving 45 injured.

Jul 22 – Police commissioner Stephen Lo said police officers took longer to respond to the attack at the MTR station because his force was “stretched”.

Jul 24 – Anti-government protesters disrupt MTR services during morning rush hour. China’s Defence Ministry said Chinese troops stationed in Hong Kong can intervene to help maintain public order, if necessary.

Jul 26 – Rally at Hong Kong International Airport goes peacefully, with hundreds chanting during a sit-down protest in the arrivals hall.

Jul 27 – Protesters and police clash during a banned march near Yuen Long station to rally against the attack by the men in white on Jul 21.

Jul 28 – Thousands joined the Sheung Wan protest, gathering in the heart of the commercial district. Riot police fired tear gas and rubber bullets at protesters close to Beijing’s liaison office. Nearly 50 people arrested.

Jul 30 – Protesters disrupt MTR services during morning rush hour by holding train doors open. On the same day, 44 people are charged with rioting, with a small protest taking place outside the court as Cyclone Wipha hit. Another protest is held outside Kwai Chung police station.

Aug 1 – China’s People Liberation Army garrison in Hong Kong releases slick military video. In its caption, it declares it has the “confidence” and “capabilities” to maintain security in Hong Kong.

Aug 3 – Thousands march through Hong Kong’s Mong Kok district, erecting barricades and blocking a major tunnel. Some demonstrators surround Tsim Sha Tsui police station, where officers used tear gas to disperse the crowd.

Aug 4 – Demonstrations take place across Hong Kong, with protesters calling for a mass strike the following day. Violent clashes between police and protesters break out.

Aug 5 – A general strike is called across Hong Kong, with civil servants walking out and joining protests. Several parts of Hong Kong Island, the New Territories and Kowloon are flooded with protesters, as the violence escalates. Police use tear gas and rubber bullets to clear the crowds, as large bonfires are set outside police stations around Hong Kong. More than 200 flights in and out of Hong Kong airport are cancelled. Police say 148 protesters were arrested and 800 tear gas rounds fired on Aug 5 alone.

As the protests have continued, the relative violence has escalated.

There are an increasing volume of voices that are demanding that we “do something.”

Today, President Trump spoke on the issue and created further anxiety.

As I’ve said many times, “do something” is the worst possible reason to do something.

I am probably more likely than the next guy to give a nod to killing people and breaking sh** when that action seems to have a purpose. I thought (and still think) that the invasion of Iraq was warranted and the gutlessness of the Bush White House combined with the fecklessness of the Obama White House threw away a positive step forward. I thought (and still think) that our intervention in Libya and Syria was a monumentally bad idea because there was no concept of an end game in either place and no large objective that proving that dictators could be overthrown cheaper than the price we paid in Iraq. I’m less enamored of economic sanctions because the rarely hurt the people you wish to hurt and stubborn regimes survive. So I’m at a loss here to see what we can do, but it is very easy to see what we shouldn’t do.

Hong Kong is a part of China. There has been this fiction of “one country, two systems” but our interference in what is happening in Hong Kong, no matter out sympathies, will be every bit as welcome as China wading into the Freddie Gray riots in Baltimore.

We have to be very careful what we say and who says it because we do not want our words of support to be mistaken by the protesters for a commitment to support them. And we have a habit of doing just that. We let East German workers think we would help them and we got the massacre of June 17, 1953. We let the freedom fighters in Hungary think that and we got the massacre of November 1956. We led the democracy protesters down the garden path to Tiananmen in 1989. We led the Marsh Arabs to believe we’d support them and we got the genocide that followed Saddam Hussein’s defeat in 1991. All those events have one thing in common. We encouraged unarmed or modestly armed people to rise up against their oppressors by leading them to believe, eitehr tacitly or actively, that we would come to their aid. We didn’t because we couldn’t or because we decided it was incovenient. And let’s be clear. We all know and the Chinese all know that we are not going to base our policy towards China on the outcome of these demonstrations. We are not going hit China with sanctions. We are not going to try to interject a military force into Hong Kong.

We also have to be very careful not to place ourselves in a position where we have invested any national prestige in the outcome in Hong Kong because our allies in the Western Pacific are watching. If we do invest that capital in the outcome and the PRC prevails, then not only did we become partially culpable for the outcome we’ve also called into question our own value as an ally. Strategically, we are better off shrugging and moving on than we are in making a huge deal out of this and then seeing the PRC crush the protests.

What can we do? Well, here I think reflexive anti-Trumper Richard Haass has it right. Except I don’t think we’re at the point where the president needs to take the lead.

and the State Department is taking a strong stance.

But Kurt has this right

no matter how many of our flags these people wave (and note to Colin Kaepernick, maybe you should consider how people in another country treat our flag if you lazy butt ever sets foot on a football field again), or how many of our songs they sing, we cannot be stampeded into a profoundly stupid escalation of tensions with Communist China over this, no matter how much we may sympathize with their cause.

The underlying question the people demanding action need to ask themselves is what actions would you have us take against China knowing they will have no effect on the outcome? And how many Chinese are you willing to kill to let you feel noble?

Tim Scott Blasts Democrats for Constant & Ridiculous Claims of Trump’s Racism – It’s the ‘Lowest Common Denominator’

Westlake Legal Group racism-2099029_1280-620x310 Tim Scott Blasts Democrats for Constant & Ridiculous Claims of Trump’s Racism – It’s the ‘Lowest Common Denominator’ Uncategorized Tim Scott The Ingraham Angle south carolina racism Race laura ingraham Front Page Stories Featured Story elections donald trump democrats Allow Media Exception

Sen. Tim Scott doesn’t have time for the ridiculousness of racist obsession.

The South Carolina Republican’s made mince meat of the silliness before, which I covered in “Black Congressman Smacks Down Race-Baiting Nitwittery.”

Get ready for another smackdown.

And this time, it’s over the absolutely relentless castigation of Donald J. Trump.

Tim defended the President Monday on Fox News program The Ingraham Angle. He told host Laura the nonsense stinks:

“What you do smell — not hear, but smell — is fear. What you smell is fear on the Left.”

He’s right about the constant, constant, constant…did I say constant? If not, the constant claims of racism. Sometimes it seems that’s all there is. About Trump. About Republicans. About conservatives. About everything. It’s neverending, and neverendingly bizarre:

“They have been consistently using the race card. Every single time there’s a presidential run, you’ll hear John McCain — racist. Mitt Romney — racist. Ronald Reagan — racist. George Bush — racist. [George] W. [Bush] — racist.”

In my opinion, when it’s all they appear to know to say, the claims cease to have any meaning. It just becomes noise. It becomes the sound of a side without any ideas.

Tim colored it the lowest of the low:

“Why do they continue to find that narrative? Because they understand that the lowest common denominator in politics is fear and division.”

The 2nd-term congressman also served up this:

“Well, there’s no doubt that President Trump is not a racist, and the facts are very simple: that the same folks that voted for me [also] voted for President Trump because President Trump made promises to the voters, and he’s keeping the promises. So without any question, if you look at his legacy, it will be his accomplishments in office == frankly, helping in many, many ways African Americans. … President Trump has been able to deliver policies that have promoted, encouraged, and inspired growth in the African American community, economically in a way that no president has done in the last 40 years. This president is not a racist.”

You know that “ideas” thing I said? Tim seems to be of a like mind:

“Look, if you were running on the Left, would you run on the Green New Deal? Would you run on the 70% new income tax? Would you run on a 4% wealth tax? Would you run on a financial transaction tax? No. What else would you run on? Well, you’d run on some tired narrative that the President, because he’s a Republican, has to be somehow a racist.”

The senator also gave me an Amen here:

“It is inconsistent with reality. It’s a different dimension that I don’t understand, and frankly, the more you use the concept of racism, the more we grow “ism” fatigue in this country. And that is a terrible place for us to be. The greatest threat by overusing racism is that when there is an actual challenge, you’ve cried wolf in the wilderness one time too many.”

Tim Scott is right on the money. When will so many Democrats determine that talk of positive solutions more effectively compel voters than do cries of negative problems?

And when they never stop harping on the same problem, after a time, incidentally, it tends to suggest they don’t have a solution.

Bonus challenge: The problem doesn’t exist — not in the way they perpetually charge.

The Dems could learn a thing or two from Tim Scott.

CNN’s Don Lemon Sued for Sexual Assault

Westlake Legal Group cnn-banana-620x348 CNN’s Don Lemon Sued for Sexual Assault Sued Sexual Assault Politics Olivier Darcy Mediaite media bias lawsuit irony Hypocrisy Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story double standards Don Lemon democrats CNN Brian Stelter

Few hosts on CNN are as inflammatory and ridiculous as Don Lemon. While laughably considering himself a “journalist,” he’s a rabid partisan and has spent most of the past few months confidently pronouncing that Donald Trump is a white supremacist and blaming mass shootings on Republicans. He’s also someone who used his platform to savage Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearing. Due process wasn’t a concern of Lemon’s as he hosted guest after guest assailing the character of the now Supreme Court Justice.

Now, the tables have turned as CNN’s own Don Lemon is being sued for sexual assault.

Dustin Hice, the man accusing Lemon of assault, claimed that the CNN host attacked him at Sag Harbor dive bar Murf’s in July 2018. Hice, who was working at the time at another Hamptons bar, alleged that one night at Murf’s he recognized Lemon there. Hice offered to buy him a drink, which the CNN host declined.

Later in the night, according to Hice, Lemon approached him and his group of friends and, after putting his hand down his shorts he “vigorously rubbed his genitalia” and “shoved his index and middle fingers into [Hice’s] moustache.”

Did this actually happen? I don’t know. The description of events is pretty specific but that’s hardly dispositive. What I do know that CNN has previously set the standard that lack of evidence doesn’t matter when they are targeting their political opponents.

But because this is one of their own, CNN has suddenly decided that questioning motives is appropriate.

“The plaintiff in this lawsuit has previously displayed a pattern of contempt for CNN on his social media accounts,” a CNN spokesperson told Mediaite in a statement. “This claim follows his unsuccessful threats and demands for an exorbitant amount of money from Don Lemon. Don categorically denies these claims and this matter does not merit any further comment at this time.”

This is a benefit of the doubt that CNN has never given to anyone on the right side of the aisle. To now see them cite things like a “pattern of contempt” and previous malice to discredit an accuser is incredibly ironic. Oddly enough, Brian Stelter and Oliver Darcy, who spend most of their time attacking any semblance of controversy in right wing media, have remained silent on this.

We’ll see where this goes, but it could get ugly if Hice has any witnesses to the behavior described. Don’t expect CNN to operate in any consistent manner regardless.

Pining for the Pinnacle of Stupid: Students Petition to Change White Pedestrian Crossing Lights to a Shade Closer to People of Color

Westlake Legal Group car-831928_1280-620x410 Pining for the Pinnacle of Stupid: Students Petition to Change White Pedestrian Crossing Lights to a Shade Closer to People of Color woke Uncategorized Traffic stick figure Social Justice racism Race Politics george washington university george the colonial Front Page Stories Education democrats Culture crosswalk crossing sign college campus reform

We’ve all been there: You’re about to cross the street, when suddenly you spot a sign with a stick figure, and you’re paralyzed by oppression. And it’s basically the same as the worst things that have ever happened to anyone in history, because you wisely and thoughtfully understand the high stakes and scope of potential human suffering.

And if there’s any justice in this world, you’ll one day be delivered from the horror that is straight lines drawn in a configuration that triggers you. Comprised of an absolutely soul-crushing hue.

Or you could just cross the street and go on with your life.

According to Campus Reform, a group of students at George Washington University erred somewhere between those two ideas, in the name of that most superior of all things on the planet — inclusivity.

New Woke Rules, so far as I can tell:

Most virtuous thing: inclusivity
Most unacceptable thing: anything “problematic”
Most inclusive thing: anything exclusively left-wing
Most racist thing: all things that can be said to be things

In a recent CR video, Campus Correspondent Ethan Cai polled GWU peeps: Would they be willing to sign a petition demanding a ban on the ubiquitous — say it ain’t so — white stick figure that signals “Walk” on pedestrian crossing signs, on account of its dastardly oppression?

Most in the clip gave a joyful Affirmative.

The college was chosen because of another mercilessly soul-crushing, problematic issue that the student body just voted to squash: its now-defunct mascot, George the Colonial.

As per the petition to junk George, his presence was “received as extremely offensive not only by students of the University, but the nation and world at large.”

Wow — these youngsters know about the whole world. Touché.

Indeed, Jerky George “[glorified] the act of systemic oppression.”

Here’s how CR’s goofy, phony-baloney petition read:

“As we students cross the street, we are told by the symbol of a white man when it is okay to cross. Many students from diverse backgrounds, including individuals of color, gender fluid individuals, and LGBTQA+ individuals, feel oppressed by this. … [We] vehemently urge the University to consider changing the crosswalk signs.”

Check out the results:

It’s almost as if you can hear the air leaking from their brains as they speak.

I wonder if any of the Woke Warriors — in an effort to banish the white light — have considered that light itself is white? In fact, in the video, they’re also standing in — yea, they are absolutely bathing inwhite light. The light of the sun. They’re drenched in it. In the horrible, inherently and unbearably evil color of white.

No word yet on how they’ll be able to see the stick figure if it’s changed to black — the absence of all light. Will people being hit by cars be less “problematic”?

Either way, as I understand the rules to go, the black stick figure will be inclusive. Even though no human beings are actually black. Or — it should be noted in the consideration of how idiotic this entire thing is — white.

In the future, we’re all in big trouble.
