Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) explains the border crisis stalemate – 6/30/19.

As I wrote last week, Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) took to the Twitter machine on Thursday and went off on Democrats and their double standards on the issue of the border wall and funding for the border crisis.

He noted that Obama had similar illegal immigration issues during his time as President, but was not raked over the coals nearly to the degree that Trump has been. The freshman Congressman also pointed out how House Democrats originally called the crisis “manufactured“, and were routinely blocking humanitarian aid bills from coming to the floor until Thursday afternoon when Pelosi caved.

On Sunday, Crenshaw posted a video to his social media platforms explaining the left’s calculated delays on border crisis funding, and why border reform was desperately needed. Here’s a partial transcript:

Okay, so I want to help you understand how this bill came to be, and in the long history of what we’ve been dealing with here.

So, first of all, it should be said that the Republicans in the House asked for this humanitarian aid bill to come to the House floor 17 times before this week. 17 times.

All right. Why did it finally come to the floor this week? Because the Senate, Democrats and Republicans, decided to finally hammer something out. All right? The crisis has finally built up enough.

Now what we’ve been hearing for months, and months, and months is that there was no crisis, that it’s a manufactured crisis. Then the narrative became, well, it was a manufactured crisis but now it’s a crisis, but it was because of Trump that it’s a crisis, right? It was Trump’s making.

This is a really dishonest narrative, okay? The reason there’s a crisis is because tens of thousands of migrants are coming across the border. When that many people are coming across, it overwhelms us, it overwhelms our resources, it crams everybody into small spaces. It creates living conditions that we’re all very upset about.

That’s why there’s a crisis. There is no other reason. When there’s that many people coming across one place, there’s going to be hardship. That’s why we needed this money.

Referencing the heartbreaking photo from last week of the migrant father and his young daughter who had drowned trying to cross the Rio Grande, Crenshaw stated that “nobody wants to see what’s going on down there” and indicated that border reform was badly needed.

He also talked about how incentivizing crossing the border was part of the problem. The asylum system was being abused, he stated, and “taken advantage of.” He also said there were “loopholes” in the asylum process that needed to be fixed.

CBP Agents Respond to AOC’s Claims About Detention Facility As She Runs Away From Any Questions

Yesterday, I reported on some pretty wild claims that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made regarding an El Paso based CBP detention facility. You can read that full write up for details.

Essentially, she made two accusations that set off a firestorm. That the guards were physically and sexually threatening her and that women were being ordered to drink out of toilets. As usual when dealing with AOC, nothing she said was actually true. In reality, the Congresswoman never even toured the facility. Her side of the story has morphed several times overnight, but what we’ve arrived at is that no woman was ever asked to drink out of a toilet and that AOC is now saying she feared the guards wouldn’t protect her, a complete reversal from saying they were threatening her. Which is odd, because that means she’s insinuating the detainees are dangerous, something we’ve been assured isn’t possible.

The entire thing is just a mess and I’m sure more details will come out as the day rolls on.

As it stands, some CBP agents are speaking out about what actually happened.

“Something under her breath, ‘Oh, all these guys in here are gonna f–k me.’ The agents are standing there behind the computers. One of the agents laughed at something he was saying to another agent, and she got irate and flipped out,” the second Border Patrol official said. “Now they’re under investigation for it. She took it as they were laughing at her and screams at them and says, ‘What’s so funny?’”

Screaming at people and thinking everyone in the facility wants to have sex with her seems normal.

In regards to the story AOC told about being ordered to drink from the toilet? That didn’t happen.

“So this is what happened with the migrant and drinking water from toilet: she wanted water, didn’t know how to use the faucet in the cell, and drank from the toilet. She never told AOC that we made her drink from the toilet. AOC, of course, changed it … This was when she [the migrant] was apprehended and brought into the facility,” according to the agent.

When pressed on whether she actually saw someone drink from a toilet, this was AOC’s response.

Let me translate that rolled up window for you. She lied by completely misrepresenting a story, framing it as something she witnessed despite clearly not doing so and now thinks she can simply ignore responsibility for that. Given the bias in our media and the cult like behavior of her followers, she’s probably right. The narrative she put out there originally will go far and wide while the truth will remain relatively obscure. That’s both morally disingenuous, but also dangerous. Whipping up this kind of hate for law enforcement rarely ends well.

Never one to let anything go, AOC is now out there making more accusations of victim-hood. She posted this last night.

So now she was attacked on her tour by CBP agents? What is she talking about? We don’t know because it’s yet another vague, unbelievable allegation with no details, facts, or evidence presented. Also, are we supposed to be outraged that they made her follow the rules by turning in her phone? That’s done for many reasons, one being the protection of agents from retaliation by putting pictures of them out in the public.

But she’s of average height for a woman and a Congressional member so rules shouldn’t apply to her I guess. None of this makes sense.

New York Times Claims With Zero Proof That Trump Will Let Kim Jong Un Keep Nuclear Weapons

Yesterday, President Trump became the first US president to cross into North Korea when he met briefly with Kim Jong Un at Panmunjom. Whether you think this was real or a photo opportunity, a couple of things were indisputable. The meeting occurred based on personal diplomacy on the part of Trump. The meeting was a first of its kind. North Korea has not tested a ballistic missile or nuke in nearly two years. Sanctions against North Korea are now more robust in scope and in enforcement than at anytime the past several decades.

One would think that anyone who doesn’t want war on the Korean Peninsula would be in favor of Winston Churchill’s maxim of “jaw-jaw is better than war-war.” But that doesn’t seem to be the case. There seems to be a substantial stream of thought within diplomatic circles that war with North Korea is, indeed, preferable to no war occurring and Donald Trump getting some credit for either the reduction in hostilities or, heaven forfend, an actual diplomatic breakthrough. Here is an example of a person or persons within the State Department attempting to torpedo Trump’s diplomatic efforts by painting them as caving to Kim.

But for weeks before the meeting, which started as a Twitter offer by the president for Mr. Kim to drop by at the Demilitarized Zone and “say hello,” a real idea has been taking shape inside the Trump administration that officials hope might create a foundation for a new round of negotiations.

The concept would amount to a nuclear freeze, one that essentially enshrines the status quo, and tacitly accepts the North as a nuclear power, something administration officials have often said they would never stand for.

It falls far short of Mr. Trump’s initial vow 30 months ago to solve the North Korea nuclear problem, but it might provide him with a retort to campaign-season critics who say the North Korean dictator has been playing the American president brilliantly by giving him the visuals he craves while holding back on real concessions.

While the approach could stop that arsenal from growing, it would not, at least in the near future, dismantle any existing weapons, variously estimated at 20 to 60. Nor would it limit the North’s missile capability.

The administration still insists in public and in private that its goals remain full denuclearization. But recognizing that its maximalist demand for the near-term surrender of Mr. Kim’s cherished nuclear program is going nowhere, it is weighing a new approach that would begin with a significant — but limited — first step.

From the good ol’ NeverTrump right:

And from the Obama alumni:

Notice anything similar?

Here are two themes that permeate all reporting on the subject.

1. Kim will not give up his nuclear arsenal. How do we know this? We don’t. We know he won’t/can’t give it up under current circumstances–both internally and externally–but we don’t know what circumstances would convince him to do so. The same geniuses that convinced themselves that their god-king could woo the Iranian mullahs into agreeing to put aside their nuclear and territorial ambitions and become a good-faith partner in the Middle East are now trying to convince us that yes, they can actually distinguish their ass from a hot rock.

2. Trump is a naif in search of adulation who is being played by wily Kim. Nothing. I say again, nothing in Kim’s foreign policy indicates that either he or his advisers have any sophistication or even a sense of how little anyone in the West not called South Korea thinks about them. There is no doubt that Kim does have a game here. Ideally, he’d like to trade meetings for relaxed sanctions. Unfortunately for him, the rejection of Trump, from his friends and enemies, would be nearly universal and immediate if he did so. Kim actually has a greater need of the meetings with Trump for his own domestic consumption. Trump undoubtedly likes the notoriety of meeting with Kim because, I suspect, of the people who befoul themselves but there’s no evidence that he’s willing to go back on a position he’s unambiguously staked out.

While we have no idea of the source(s) for the NYT piece, we do have two on-the-record comments.

On Sunday evening, the State Department’s envoy to North Korea, Stephen E. Biegun, said that this account of the ideas being generated in the administration was “pure speculation” and that his team was “not preparing any new proposal currently.”

“What is accurate is not new, and what is new is not accurate,” he said.

John Bolton has weighed in:

Taken in its most favorable light, the source for this is a loser who is very happy to lose. It is someone who really believes that Kim has outmaneuvered this president, just like all presidents before him, and that our best bet is to try to save some face by agreeing to give the North Koreans what they want under the fig leaf of a “freeze” that can no more be verified than can anything else in North Korea today.

If you take it at its most cynical, it is simply an attempt to undercut the Administration by giving their enemies at home and abroad aid and comfort. It is trying to damage Trump domestically by insisting, in absence of all evidence, that the administration is not serious about ridding North Korea of nukes and it is trying to give Kim hope that by holding out he’ll get rid of sanctions and keep his nukes.

The underlying assumptions in this article are simply at odds with the facts. If meeting with Kim makes him more secure at home, he has a greater ability to cut a deal that will be opposed by a large swath of the North Korean ruling elite and that is good. Every day that passes under sanctions, the North Korean government grows weaker and is less able to pursue whatever douchebaggery it would otherwise be up to, that is also good. If we are talking we aren’t shooting, also a big plus. Needless to say, this in not a timed event. Either a deal will materialize or it will not. The worst possible course for the Trump administration would to be cutting a deal with the DPRK locking in their ability to deliver nuclear weapons to the United States after abrogating an deal that ostensibly kept Iran from getting nuclear weapons. Trump knows this. His advisers know this. His enemies here and abroad know this.

Poll: Plurality of Republicans believe the Mueller report totally exonerated Trump on obstruction of justice

Westlake Legal Group rm-1 Poll: Plurality of Republicans believe the Mueller report totally exonerated Trump on obstruction of justice YouGov totally The Blog Robert Mueller republicans poll obstruction Justice exonerate democrats

It doesn’t surprise me that Republicans who say they’ve “watched a lot of coverage” of the report are more, rather than less, likely to believe Trump was totally exonerated on obstruction than the average Republican is even though it’s not true. Odds are, they’re watching Fox. And not the Shep/Chris Wallace dayside newsy hours of Fox either.

It does surprise me that Republicans who say they’ve read parts of the report are also more likely than the average Republican to believe it. Probably the single most famous line from the report’s 400+ pages is, “If we had confidence after a thorough investigation of the facts that the President clearly did not commit obstruction of justice, we would so state.” Mueller went to the trouble of repeating that line on television a month later at his press conference as an extra nudge to House Democrats and the public that they should be troubled by the obstruction findings.

Did righties forget to read the obstruction section?

Westlake Legal Group y Poll: Plurality of Republicans believe the Mueller report totally exonerated Trump on obstruction of justice YouGov totally The Blog Robert Mueller republicans poll obstruction Justice exonerate democrats

The entire reason House Democrats are so eager to have Mueller testify this month is because they’re aware of this disjunction between what Mueller said and what people, especially Republicans, believe. Only 19 percent of Americans in this poll admitted to having read all or most of the report. If you want Mueller’s conclusions to penetrate, they have to be repackaged as video clips and transmitted to the public via the media circus that will attend his testimony on July 17. Or so Dems hope. I’m skeptical that it’ll change much.

As to why Republicans might be confused about Mueller’s “no exoneration” verdict on obstruction, there are different possibilities:

1. Barr did exonerate Trump on obstruction in his summary of Mueller’s report, of course. Maybe GOPers were treating this question less as a test of what Mueller said than what the DOJ ultimately decided as an institution.

2. Some may not have paid close enough attention to the question to notice they were being asked about obstruction, not collusion. If all they heard was “Did Mueller exonerate Trump?”, they may have focused on the collusion part of the report in answering “yes.”

3. Maybe out-and-out disinformation from partisan media sites convinced them that Mueller really did clear Trump on obstruction, all evidence to the contrary notwithstanding.

4. Trump repeated the “total exoneration” talking point a lot in the first few days after Barr’s summary was released. Whether that message convinced Republicans and colored their impressions of what’s in the report or whether they’re merely parroting Trump’s point back to pollsters to be good soldiers, it’s the Trump factor at work. Relatedly, when asked if they thought Russia interfered in the election — the most unambiguous finding in Mueller’s report — Republicans split just 51/49. “What’s the best answer for Trump?” will obviously weigh on partisans’ minds when they answer questions about this.

Is there a term, by the way, to describe when someone gives a pollster the answer that their party would want them to give, whether or not that’s their honest opinion? There are all sorts of reasons why people sometimes aren’t honest with pollsters; a famous one is “social desirability bias.” We live in an age, though, in which public awareness of polling and its ability to drive the news and influence political parties’ strategy has probably never been greater. Favorable polls are touted routinely in activist political media on both sides. The president tweets often (and selectively) about his own polls and has encouraged supporters to disregard unfavorable polls as fake news. The polls famously failed to detect Trump’s looming victory in 2016 even though they got close to predicting Hillary’s popular vote win. The more that Americans see polls overtly as tools of partisan information warfare, the more likely they are, it seems to me, to answer poll questions in line with what their parties want them to say — what they’re “supposed” to say — than what the might really think. That might explain the outsized GOP number here claiming that Mueller totally exonerated Trump on obstruction. As well as why Trump has nearly unanimous job approval and disapproval in polls of Republicans and Democrats, respectively.

Hard-Left Site ThinkProgress Is Up for Sale Thanks to a Loss of Millions of Dollars

What used to be bastions of leftist news and thought are collapsing like a house of cards as the Trump administration thunders forward despite their best efforts. Leftist news sites have been facing layoffs and cutbacks left and right, and the once mighty anti-Bush site ThinkProgress is now facing its own problems.

According to the Daily Beast the house that the Center for American Progress built is up for sale due to what is being described as “severe financial strains during the Trump era”:

“Unfortunately, like so many other news outlets that have relied on advertising to fund its work, ThinkProgress has seen a significant drop in revenue in recent years, along with other financial strains. In addition, events over the last few years have underscored the divergent missions of American Progress and ThinkProgress,” said Navin Nayak, executive director of the Center for American Progress Action Fund.

“For all of these reasons, we announced to the ThinkProgress staff today that we are searching for a new publisher for the news site. This is a tough decision since ThinkProgress has been a part of CAP Action almost since its founding. While ThinkProgress’ financial challenges are unsustainable for an organization like CAP Action, we are hopeful that there are publishers who would be better able to support ThinkProgress’ mission and better positioned to maximize the significant value ThinkProgress has built up.”

The Daily Beast listed these financial troubles as a “$3 million gulf between revenues and expenses in 2019” made up of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of ad revenue and contributions that the site just isn’t bringing in any more.

This site still reportedly brings in a solid number of visitors, with 12 million page hits and 7.5 million unique visitors in June. That’s all well and good, but despite this, the pattern continuously seen throughout leftist media is that the interest just isn’t there like it used to be. Huffington Post, BuzzFeed, and CNN are all going through the same problems. These were once powerful sites that found themselves successful during the Democrats’ age of prosperity between the anti-Bush sentiment and the pro-Obama worship.

However, the Trump-era has had a nasty effect on the left who have overreacted in response to someone so bombastic being elected to office. The resulting bitter taste the leftist media has left in the mouths of those who used to consume their product has caused them to walk away.

If you were to ask me, I would advise the staff of ThinkProgress to learn some kind of skill that would help them find work in this digital age ruled by technology. Something that would make them more attractive to those seeking to hire people who have experience with using computers, and have a working knowledge of how this technology works in the background…

…but what skill could that be?

Independent journalist Andy Ngo is assaulted at a Portland, OR Antifa demonstration – 6/29/19. Screen grab via The Oregonian.

As Red State‘s Bonchie wrote over the weekend, Quillette editor and independent journalist Andy Ngo was viciously attacked by a mob of Antifa thugs during a Saturday demonstration in Portland, Oregon.

Ngo was so badly beaten that he had to go to the hospital, but according to his attorneys he is on the mend and has been cleared to leave the hospital.

Left-wing journalists and other militant liberals have weighed in with their hot takes, predictably blaming Ngo for the brutal attacks.

But one particularly vile response stood out to me from the rest, and it came from Charlotte Clymer, a transgender “woman” and activist who is also the spokesperson for the Human Rights Campaign.

Clymer, who recently laid the ground rules for what “she” says should be considered allowable speech, slithered on to Twitter to tell her followers that Ngo was asking for it:

I tweeted back to Clymer twice, calling out the hypocritical nature of a person who frequently talks about how we must respect differences of opinion blaming Ngo, who is gay, for his assault:

“Imagine working for an organization that supposedly works to protect human rights and then tweeting something like that,” wondered Sam at Twitchy, who documented some of the other responses to Clymer’s vicious attack.

Not only that, but imagine that this same organization decides that person should still continue to be their spokesperson even after saying that a human being asked to be attacked merely for exercising his First Amendment rights. HRC has not only not responded to reports about the bloody assault on Ngo, but also hasn’t uttered a word about Clymer’s vile take on the issue.

Their Twitter bio reads “HRC is the nation’s largest LGBTQ civil rights organization. We envision a world where LGBTQ people are ensured equality at home, at work & in every community.”

What an absolute joke. Frauds.

AOC Makes Crazy Allegations After Her Visit to a Detention Facility, but She May Have Been Caught Lying

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., listens during questioning at a House Oversight and Reform committee hearing on facial recognition technology in government, Tuesday, June 4, 2019, on Capitol Hill in Washington. (AP Photo/Jacquelyn Martin)

Today, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez supposedly visited a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol facility in El Paso, TX. I say supposedly because whether she even went inside is being called into question, as you’ll see.

In response to her visit, she took to Twitter to make some really out there allegations.

She is first alleging that CBP agents, knowing they were being watched and would have everything reported, sexually and physically threatened her. I honestly have no idea what that actually means, but it sounds like a pretty serious charge. Maybe she could provide some details?

She then goes on to assert that CBP agents, again knowing anything they did would be reported on, told women to drink out of the toilets.

Does anyone really think that sounds believable? Let’s assume that CBP are actually evil nazis torturing people. That’s a ridiculous assumption, but let’s make it for the same of argument. Does anyone believe they would expose their deeds in front of a rabid, open borders ideologue like AOC? That simply doesn’t pass the smell test.

Laughing about what? That would be important to know. Were they joking about a rerun of The Office? Or migrants suffering? AOC again gives no details, which seems to be a theme.

There’s also the question of whether the “toilets” she claims were being drunk out of were actually these.

AOC may not realize what the term “potable” means, it’s a big word after all, but that means it’s safe to drink.

Furthermore, we are supposed to believe that all this happened and the Congressional members just left? No badge numbers, no names, no evidence, and no pressing charges for supposedly being threatened? Makes sense.

Regardless, now questions are arising about whether she even toured the facility at all or is simply repeating false stories she heard from someone else.

So she didn’t even go inside? She just caused a big scene in the pre-tour meeting? Now that sounds completely believable.

AOC is a terrible liar. She’s been caught misrepresenting or making things up numerous times, to the point where she makes Donald Trump blush. Nothing about what she describes sounds realistic. CBP are not going to tell a woman to drink out of the toilet in front of Congressional members, nor are they going to threaten someone while giving a public tour of a facility. Only a partisan so engulfed in AOC’s cult of personality could possibly think those things happened. Of course, there are plenty of those on Twitter defending her right now.

I’ll also point out that her claims are perfectly timed with the release of a ProPublica report that claims to have found a “secret” racist Facebook group containing 9,500 CBP agents. In reality, they’ve managed to confirm three, yes only three, people in the group work for CBP. Yet, the narrative is now spreading far and wide that half the CBP workforce of 20,000 people are in a Facebook group making jokes about dead migrants.

The claims AOC makes here are very, very serious. If any of this actually did happen, she needs to put up some evidence. Otherwise, she needs to apologize for spreading dangerous false information. I have a feeling she won’t do either though because no one ever holds her accountable for anything.

UPDATE:

As I expected, AOC essentially admits she’s repeating something she heard and didn’t actually witness any wrongdoing.

And here are more details about her outburst. She did not actually tour the facility, which was no doubt pre-planned as part of the game she’s playing.

“She comes out screaming at our agents, right at the beginning [of the tour] … Crying and screaming and yelling,” said one witness who said he was stunned by the outburst in front of approximately 40 people.

“The agents, they wanted to respond, but they held back because she’s a congressional delegate. But when you have someone yelling at you in a threatening manner … ” the same person said. “They were like, ‘Hey, you need to kinda step back.’”

The congresswoman told the group she would not go with the 13 other House Democrats on the tour of the facility and stayed with the family.

A picture of maturity.

As Red State‘s Alex Parker wrote Sunday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) took a sideswipe at Ivanka Trump Saturday after BBC journalist Parham Ghobadi posted a video clip of her attempt at getting involved in a discussion among world leaders during the G-20 summit over the weekend.

To recap, here’s the clip:

Instead of using the clip as an opportunity to boost another woman, as she would have had it been a Democratic female trying to make her mark at a world summit, Ocasio-Cortez – who is notorious for accusing her critics of disliking her not just because she’s a woman but also because she’s a “woman of color” – used her massive platform on Twitter to tear down Trump instead:

Her cult-like followers took Ocasio-Cortez’s lead, and started tweeting out memes of Trump with the hashtag “#UnwantedIvanka.”

Twitchy documented later on about how, after AOC took a considerable amount of heat over her catty remarks, the freshman Congresswoman went on a wild rant about “leadership” that nobody outside of her deluded fan base was buying.

Later, former White House Press Secretary Sanders got wind of AOC’s comments about Trump and took to the Twitter machine weigh in on the matter:

“AOC is wasting your time on Twitter.” Truer words were never spoken.

Beto O’Rourke’s Campaign Heads to Mexico to Pander to Asylum Seekers

Last I checked, illegal immigrants couldn’t vote. I realize Democrats sometimes get confused about that, and apparently Robert “Beto” O’Rourke of Texas is no different than his political California cousins who are known to call illegal immigrants their “constituency.”

According to the Associated Press, O’Rourke made a trip across the the southern border to meet with people from countries like El Salvador and Honduras, and talked about how horrible Trump is for his “cruel and inhumane policies” when it comes to protecting the border:

In his first international trip as a White House hopeful, the former congressman traveled to Ciudad Juarez, across the Rio Grande from his native El Paso, Texas, to meet what his campaign described as “individuals and families directly impacted by Donald Trump’s cruel and inhumane policies.”

A fluent Spanish speaker, O’Rourke met around a table at a shelter with immigrants from El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala, some of whom wept as they told of being denied entry into the U.S. while their asylum claims are processed. Many said they were terrified they’d be sent back to their home countries, where their lives had been threatened because of abusive spouses, street gang violence or drug smugglers.

O’Rourke made his trip as public as possible with both a livestream and a large Twitter thread telling individual stories.

O’Rourke ended by reiterating what he said during the Democratic debate, where he called for an end to metering and the Remain in Mexico policy.

The unfortunate thing for O’Rourke is that his pandering to migrants isn’t likely going to help him with votes here in the states. According to an April NPR/Marist poll, Hispanic approval of Trump came in at a shocking 50 percent approval. Other polls have him at various other numbers such as 45 to 30 percent, but one thing that caught the eyes of those watching the polls is that they aren’t budging.

According to the Washington Examiner, Trump’s positions don’t seem to be driving the Hispanic vote away from him as many on both the left and the right thought:

“He starts in a much better place for reelection than when he launched his 2016 campaign,” said Daniel Garza, a Bush administration veteran who runs the Libre Initiative, a Koch network group that encourages Hispanics to embrace conservative policies. “One would think immigration would be a major anchor for him, but he’s turned it into at least a push,” he said, suggesting his policies would neither harm nor help the president.

That’s quite a turnabout for Garza. Here is what he told the Washington Examiner about Trump in August 2015: “His positions are indefensible. I would actually rise up against him.”

O’Rourke’s race to garner the vote from Hispanics may not work out as well as he thinks. He’s pandering to people who either can’t vote or have already decided to vote Democrat whether they’re Hispanic or not. The latter group is more likely, and trying to sway them away from other primary candidates may help boost O’Rourke’s numbers, but it’s not nearly going to be enough.

As far as Democrat voters are concerned, O’Rourke is yesterday’s news. His campaign has been bringing in abysmal numbers thanks to a sudden lack of interest from Democrat voters that were behind him during his run against Texas Senator Ted Cruz. In fact, his popularity has drastically faded so badly that he barely qualified to take the debate stage.

If O’Rourke’s plan to win over the hearts and minds of those willing to get angry over the migrant crisis, he’s got stiff competition in the form of fellow Texas politician Julian Castro. According to Karen Townsend at Hot Air, O’Rourke is calling for an end to certain policies, but Castro is advocating going all the way to open borders, something O’Rourke isn’t quite there on.
